So I just got this and I've only used it twice. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to because it is a marcel. It's not a spring clip like I'm used to. You have to hold it in a way that's definitely new and takes a little practice. I have smaller hands and my fingers aren't very long, so I'm still getting the hang of it. Having said that, I'm really not great at doing my hair because I've never had good tools or products. I didn't grow up with a mom who showed me or even just modelled that or any self care. Even so, I was able to use this without burning myself so far and I got results I was pretty happy with considering I was just trying it out and not expecting to really get it down yet. I thought, I can finally do my hair to look nice. It's much quicker, too. I got this curly iron . I have used it quite a few times in my hair and really love the way it curls in my hair. It is very easy to use. It has an on and off button. It has a setting button from 200 and something to 450. I like that the handle you can lock it in place. Also with the handle you can unlock it where it will turn instead of using your hand to turn to let your hair out of the curling iron. The handle that you open to close your hair also turns which makes it neat To use. It heats up really fast. I would say this product is awesome to use If you do your hair often. I don't have this particular Marcel iron, by the Hot Tools Marcel iron I purchased is no longer available. The temperature control settings are great, and the iron does get very hot. I watched many videos before and after purchasing so that I felt like I knew what I was getting into. Apparently that wasn't enough. This seems designed for hair stylists to use on clients (makes sense), but is not at all user friendly. I feel like other reviewers must spend a lot of time doing their hair to get the hang of this because I have had no luck so far. I have naturally wavy hair so I don't use hot tools a lot, but sometimes I want that blown out look. The Bed Head Curling Wand is my first curling wand that I have ever tried. Before, I just used a regular curling iron that I wrap my hair around but this is a pretty great curling wand! This is a great wand that heats up to 400 degrees (F) to ensure heating and holding power. I was very curious about that because my hair has a tendency to lose the curl quickly and it requires higher heating temperatures to ensure that it keeps. Now, that is not obviously shown but just given an easy to use on/off button. This is a large barrel 1 ½” that is clamp free but does come with a stand. Not only that, I was extremely grateful that this came with a protective glove to keep me from getting burned! I did unfortunately get my hair cut this past week to about right at my shoulders whereas it was quite a bit longer before my trim and now it is not the best size for my hair length. I could get a few strands wrapped around it, though, and the curl turned out so cute! I know it is weird but I even noticed that the cord was good quality to where I felt like it would not get ripped or easily messed up. It has a Velcro piece that you can keep the cord together easier with. It really heats up quite easily and thoroughly throughout the barrel. So let me preface by saying, I've never used a styling wand before. I was surprised at how quickly the OhSoKind Curling Wand, CD955 heated up. Which is perfect for those on the go moments. I love that you have the option to adjust to temperature as well. Having fine hair requires that you take extra precautions to avoid heat damage. So having this option definitely helps that. I like the curls I was able to create. I recently cut my hair and felt that my hair was a bit dull but the curls were fluffy. I'm also natural so overtime as my curls dropped my hair still maintained its shaped. At least for the day. I would have to try the wand again with fully straightened hair to see if it makes a difference. But I'm pleasantly surprised at its performance.The Brittany
I have straight, thin, and fine hair, so using a curling wand can be sometimes challenging (fear of extreme damage, hair can slip out of the clip). However, I find the silicone clip on this iron really helps to keep my hair in place! It is definitely secure in there when clip in my hair to curl. The wand itself is easy to turn on and off and the dial is easy to use. One con/place for improvement is the barrel length. I find it to be a bit short for my mid to long length hair (couple inches past the shoulder). I wish the barrel length was a bit longer so that it can curl more or longer pieces of hair at a time. In terms of damage and staying power, my curls stay in my hair fine and it makes me feel better that I am using a lower temp (though I think all heat styling will cause some amount of damage). I was absolutely surprised in the best way by this curling iron. I have been using Conair curling irons for years, since back when they took five minutes to heat up properly enough to curl your hair. When I got this, I was a little skeptical because of past irons (they worked, just took forever to get the job done), but this iron blew me away. First off, the colors is super cute and definitely a staple I want in my haircare collection. It is super quick to heat up and allows for easy settings. The curls (or waves) are super easy to make and it takes little to no time (10 seconds on freshly washed hair or so, mine is fine and super straight) to curl. For me, that's great. It's an adorable iron that gets the job done, not many can do that, and I think it's because of the material it's made out of, because it gets hot quick but doesn't burn your hair. I love these Hot Tools Curling Irons. I read all of the reviews for the Professional Marcel Iron before deciding to buy. Especially the lowest ratings. It appeared most of the complaints had to do with the handle of the flapper (this may not be the technical term for the metal part that covers your hair, but I hope you understand 😊). I then turned to YouTube and found directions for using this Hot Tool. I have curly, wavy hair that seems to need more pressure applied to it in order to get it to do anything when using ANY curling iron or flat iron. THIS Hot Tool seemed to be the answer to my problem. I took a chance and bought 3 sizes. I am in my 60's now and my hair is not as curly… nor near as thick as it once was … lol …but when I got hang of using these Hot Tools … I Was ABSOLUTELY THRILLED! Regardless of your age, hair color or race, if your hair has the kinks in it that makes it curly or wavy, then it usually isn't shiny, naturally. I'm definitely not a pro when it comes to using various tools to style my hair. One thing I really like about this curling iron is that it's forgiving for the inexperienced person like me. I prefer curling irons/wands like this that have a hair clip grip to help hold the ends of your hair in place while you wind hair. My hair is held tightly, but not so much that it is painfully pulled on when I try to unroll the hair from the want. Heats up well and maintains heat well. Doesn't fluctuate between every curl so you end up going over some pieces of hair multiple times. easily the worst curling iron i’ve ever tried. I had an iron from an only slightly less reputable brand than this one and I honestly never wanted to buy another but alas it stopped working and I searched for a replacement. I heard a lot about this brand so I bought this one around a year ago. I immediately tried it without using any different styling products. For reference I have wavy hair about armpit length, medium thickness and have never had issues with my hair holding a curl, I only ever needed a small amount of hair spray (worked with a variety of irons) but the “curls” that are produced from this product last less than a minute. I have adjusted the heat and tried DOZENS of hairsprays or styling products to hold this curl and nothing works. It barely curls my hair and even the hottest setting doesn’t do anything. Years and years of tv gossip has convinced women that overstructured hair is granny looking. Please stop, for the sake of your sanity and your pocket. I use the lowest heat possible and it only takes a few seconds. But my hair naturally keeps any kind of style, curly or straight without hold for 10 days. Everyone else is different. I also ordered the 1 inch version. Yes, with my kind of hair the larger the curls the shorter they remain on my head, they straighten up faster. So if you have pin straight hair naturally, I don't recommend a barrel larger than 0.75, it just doesn't work, my sister's hair is like this. I purchased this in-store about 2 months ago after my old curling iron gave out after years of use. I decided to splurge on what I thought was a nice brand because I wanted something that would work well and last me a long time. Unfortunately, after 2 months I am wishing I could return this. The curls fall out after about 5 minutes and I have to turn the iron to the highest heat setting just to get it to produce a curl. I've never had issue with my hair holding a curl before. I'm amazed at all the bad reviews of this!? If you're just wrapping your hair around it once and you xpecting it to hold a curl then you're doing it wrong. Watch a few hairstylist YouTube videos or something. Anything projecting heat is going to hold a curl if you do it the right way, clip facing outwards, twirl once, drop down a little curl again let set. If you comb through hot hair it will fall out. Let it cool. Use mousse or a holding gel on wet hair prior to curling. Use lowest heat setting for your hair type the higher the heat the more damage. Literally all curling irons almost do the same thing. This is user error. I've been using these irons professionally for years my curls do not drop because you have to do it correctly and use productsAngie
I decided to purchase a hot tools curling iron because I have had a gold one for years and love it. I wanted to try ceramic since it's better for your hair. But this curling iron just doesn't work well for my hair length. It's very hair to curl my hair with such a short barrel and the curls don't hold nearly as well as my other hot tools curling iron. Plus it leaves my hair looking a little frizzy as the curls fall out out. Unfortunately, I will be returning this curling iron. I was so excited to use curling iron, and even more excited as soon as I opened the box. You can see and feel the quality right away. I love the sleek, modern design, and how it’s lightweight, but still solid. I’ve had irons before that were too light and would slide all over the counter when I put them down, but the Soft Curl has enough weight that it stays right where I put it. That’s really important because this iron heats up SUPER fast (which I love) and is very hot. Any new tool takes a little time to get used to, and like I said, it heats up fast, so I definitely recommend practicing styling your hair with a cool iron before turning it on. Also, there’s just a little bit of texture to the barrel of the iron (which gives it a really nice matte look) but l also think it gives the barrel a little bit of grip while still allowing your hair to glide around the iron without any tugging or snagging. I really liked this curler. Curls are long lasting. The curler heats up fairly quickly in under 8 seconds. I like the shape the curler has on the end because it makes it easy to hold and that part doesn’t get hot. You can use this curler many different ways. My favorite way to use it is mostly like a wand but with the tong to hold the hair into place. The width of the wand is perfect for looser or bigger curls. It does take a few minutes to cool so I’d be careful with it after unplugging it. It’s also pretty easy to hold and not heavy. Overall a good product. Wanted to invest in a quality product that isn't damaging for the hair. Does what it's suppose to do which is gives you long lasting curls. One thing to note that it is VERY hot, and it's not adjustable. I have normal to thin stand hair and i think the heat is way too strong for my hair type, I don't even leave the curl on the tong for the recommended time. The barrel isn't every smooth when gliding your hair through, you have to open the clamp to release the hair which is abit annoying if you have long hair. Because of the friction its harder to use in my experience compared to other curlers.. burnt myself the first time too.. you definitely need a technique whilst using this because it is way to hot and I can't leave my hair on the barrel for long and need to move really quickly. I’m not good at that and it would be the nastiest looking curls like ick curl. So I knew I needed a real curling iron. This curler has been such a delight! First off, it's a stunning lavender and rose gold with LED settings – it looks more expensive than it actually is! The box comes with a USB cable but you'll need a power adaptor (I used the one for my phone). It charges quickly enough and stops blinking to let you know it is done. Once charged, the curling iron is extremely intuitive to use and I love that you have the option of the clamp. No issues whatsoever in curling, and I'm SO happy to report that my hair did not get stuck in the curler at any point (this has been an annoying problem with some curling irons). The best part is absolutely the lack of a cord – I liked this design from day one, but in practice? It's as though this curling iron removes a nuisance that I've always just accepted with other curlers. This is small (about the size of my hand) but powerful! Some things to know: It comes in 2 pieces in the case. You have to put the TheraCell cartridge into the iron to make it work. You then click the button to power on the iron. It sounds and smells almost like a lighter- which can be a little disconcerting but that's just the butane gas doing its thing. According to TSA, this CANNOT be checked on a plane. But you CAN put it on a carry-on, as long as you have the safety cover (the pink case it comes in!). Something else to know is that you cannot bring an extra cartridge on a plane checked or carry-on. If you think it's time for another cartridge, change it before your trip. In terms of actual performance, this curling iron performs as well as any other curling iron I've tried and doesn't take much time to heat up! I wanted a curling iron that was shorter and easier to handle. All of the usual ones are so heavy and cumbersome that I constantly burn my face, ears, neck, and head. They are hard to handle for an older woman without the arm and hand strength of a young person. This curling iron is smaller – but it does not open wide enough to get your hair into it – AT ALL. I was so disappointed. I thought this would be the answer to my problems. I go out with burns on my cheeks, sometimes my ears or neck, and on my scalp – from losing control of the wand and it falling on my face, neck, ears or head. This size would work IF the "iron" were about an inch longer, and the clamp would open wide so you can get your hair in it, clamp shut, and curl. First off, I've only been using this iron for a few weeks so I can't speak to the longevity of the product. However, what I can say is I am so impressed by my results so far! I have thick, coarse, medium-to-long hair and this makes it so smooth and soft. It glides effortlessly through my hair and my hair doesn't get snagged anywhere or create any unflattering crimps, because the clamp is not too tight and the texture of the plates are so silky. With the long barrel, it would be very hard to get tangles or have hair spill over the end as you curl. So it's very beginner friendly for someone who is not used to a standard curling iron with a clamp. For me personally, all it takes is for the iron to be heated to 390, a little medium hold hairspray to set, and these curls will last for days! Of course on the second day, it goes from a full curl to more of a soft wave.. but that soft wave looks great and lasts a full 3 days. Personally I wash my hair twice a week so I haven't really tested longer than that. I'm sure that as with any iron, results will depend on hair type, technique, and the products you use in conjunction with it. For me I'm very pleased. Overall, I was apprehensive about the price but as long as this iron holds up over time, I think it's a terrific investment.anonymous7373
The long barrel is great. The only problem (the most important) is that it doesn't hold a curl. Curls died within an hour or two, on the highest temp setting. I tried it 4 different times with a variety of techniques (different styling products, dirty hair, longer curl time, days with less humidity, etc) and I struck out every time. I reverted back to my old curling wand yesterday to see if my hair was the issue. It worked beautifully. I still have some curl left today. Sad to return.Hayley
My stylist uses this every time I get my hair done and always gives the perfect laid back loose curl. I have a ton of styling tools but convinced myself that I needed this because of the long barrel. I have medium length (slightly below shoulder length) hair and was able to curl my hair so easily without needing to tug or re-wrap my hair around the barrel. I also love that you can optimize the heat based on your hair type. It heats up to 430 degrees but I ended up using 360 and didn’t feel like it was drying my hair. The instructions for how to lock the temp are on the handle. You’ll definitely want to lock your temperature setting – because of the location of the +/- buttons, you end up hitting these multiple times while curling your hair which would be so frustrating if you couldn’t lock down your temp. I purchased my third of this model in January. I am exchanging it today, because like the two before it, it quickly stopped working. Pros: It's hard to find a nice 1" iron. It glides on my coarse hair so nicely. It gets very hot. The cord is very nice, long and cloth wrapped. Cons: This one was making a crackling sound in the first week and today (April 3) would not turn on. I use it every other day at most. The first one I had lasted a few years; the second one, only a few months. I vowed not to buy another, but bought a third because I had a gift card and couldn't find a 1" iron that had as nice of a ceramic coating. This one lasted 3.5 months. I'm careful to turn them off since there's no auto off, and it only was used minimally each day. I'd gladly pay more to get a better quality product. Bought on sale in store and was nervous as it kinda looks cheap, but I’ve used it 3-4 times since purchasing and it works pretty good for the price! I use it for a more wave type curl and have hair slightly longer than my shoulders and it takes me 10-13 minutes to curl my whole head. Every now and again I get one of those crimp lines but it goes away if you run the iron over it for a second. I bought a HT curling iron at Christmas and the clamp was loose within a month and I don't use any products in my hair that would cause any issues with the clamp. This Conair Infinity Pro curling iron is fantastic though! It's hot, curls my thick hair really well and has a good clamp. Also has automatic shut off which is essential according to my husband who says I forget to turn it off all the time. 🙂 My hair comes out looking beautiful, shiny and has great waves that stay all day. The one tiny downside is the tip of the curling iron is definitely warm. I can still touch it and use it but it's warmer than what I'd prefer. I had a Conair Infiniti Pro iron that lasted for almost 10 years. Not sure why I decided to try HT, but went back to the Conair Infinity Pro pretty quickly and so happy I did!jhpippi
This is my first curling wand and I want to like it. For the most part I do! The quality and design are good. I've read in various reviews that people have trouble getting their hair to stay on the wand, but I had no such difficulty and my hair barely reaches my shoulders. There are two things in particular, however, that I could wish were different with this wand. First, the heat-proof glove can only be worn one way and only on your left hand. This is perfect for when I'm curling the left side of my head, but it would be nice to be able to switch the glove over to my right hand when I move to the right side of my head. I managed it ok but I can only imagine it would have been less awkward if I could have switched hands. Second, the plug comes out of the socket fairly easily. Granted, I did not have the cord fully extended (I'm keeping it partially coiled in case I decide to return it), but there was plenty of give and I was standing right next to the outlet. Still the plug fell out of the socket 2 or 3 times. Functionally this wand heated quickly and produced the kind of beachy waves I bought it for, so there's definitely that! Generally, I am glad it works and its perfermance is not bad. It is simple to use and makes slight curls. The regular price at the pharmacy store is somewhat 9.99 bucks. So I will say you get what you pay. My curling iron does not heat up quickly, like 10-12 minutes. A good thing is that it has an indicator that tells you the temperature has been reached. I have thick hairs, so this curling iron is not power strong to me. Thus the curls are slight and too nature. Anyway the effect is not obvious. Only waves produced. As such, I never have to worry my hairs burnt. If any, safety can be accounted as an advantage. And the curled hairs seemed not stay for long. This curling wand is fabulous!! I got rid of my numee wand because it didn’t even do what this one does for me and its about half the price!! It keeps my curls in ALL day and even for a few days if I decide to dry shampoo. It doesn’t seem to fry my hair like other wands have in the past. The packaging is super cute, it comes in a lollipop shape and the colors of the wands are very pretty. I haven’t had a wand yet hold curls the way this one does. I am very impressed and would definitely recommend this wand for beginners that are just learning to use a wand to curl their hair. I love that it is even better than my high end hair tool purchases. Its worth every penny. One thing I was a little sad about though was that I bought this right before black friday at full cost and when black friday came around they went on sale for like 10 dollars at ulta! Such a steal! I LOVE this curling iron! It's affordable and works great. I have straight, fine/thin hair and it's easy to curl, but hard to keep the curls in. I find with this curling iron that my curls last all day, even into the next day! I'll wake up with perfect, beachy waves. Unlike other curling irons, it gives me a thicker looking, and more bouncy, curl. You can do anything with this curling iron–from loose, beachy waves, to big voluptuous curls, to tight curls. It's easy to use, just a simple on/off switch. It heats up very fast, too which is a plus! Nothing worse than having to wait for your curler to heat up. Only downside would be that you can't pick your temperature, but for someone like me, I don't mind that at all!krystal.r

I really like this curling iron. It gives you very beautiful curls. I have very long hair myself and it is super fast and easy with this curling iron. The curls also last a long time. A tip: If I take a tuft and curl it. I hold it in my hand and scrunch it until the tuft has cooled. This way your curls will stay longer and more beautiful.lotte.o
