It was time to downsize from a set of polk powered towers that I've had for a very long time. 4' tall speakers were just too obtrusive. I've installed Polk for people in the past and was impressed with the clarity and overall sound quality from a smaller enclosure. I made the switch and am happy I did. I will say, out of the box performance of the sub and speakers was not impressive right away. I do, however, understand that new speakers need a break in period. I left the system on streaming music at a moderate level while I was gone for a few days. When I came back and did the final system setup with the receiver, I was impressed. At this point, my system is set flat with zero equalization changes. The music is clean and clear and not lacking. Vocal presence is excellent and the subwoofer performs well without slop and unwanted boominess. Great with music as well as home theater. I definitely recommend!svil6407
My only "regret" is not searching for an "8 inch" subwoofer which Klipsch makes or did make. This one "overpowers" my small Klipsch tabletop speakers. It's taken a little while to adjust so that we don't hear only base, but it's really a nice piece. I like it but wish I'd looked for the smaller subwoofer to balance the sound a little better. If I had larger speakers, it's really a "movie theater" experience like the base in the music accompanying a film/movie. I'm impressed.Kurt
First off I use this sub for Home Theater. I currently have a Bose Acoustimass Series IV system. I've had it for years and thought it sounded great when I first got it and didn't know any better. I noticed some serious holes in the low end, mid range and even high end frequencies. Since I don't have the time or money to replace everything I thought I could add some help to the low end. I have a Denon AVR-X4000 receiver and since it supports a second subwoofer I thought I would start with adding that. I went with the Klipsch because the price was right, the looks are extremely appealing, a 12" woofer is more than enough in my 15LX15WX10H room, and the abundance of positive reviews. Positive reviews everywhere, not just here. My setup was a little tricky but my receiver did most of the work. Audyssey took care of most everything but Bose doesnt play well with anything so that was very much expected. However, once the LFE and frequencies were dialed in on my receiver this thing rocked. I have the gain knob at about 20%, so I am sure this sub will fill sound in a room much larger than mine. Furthermore, I have set it to >50% and notice no distortion. The sound is super clear. Anything above 20% for me it started to rattle my house and scare the dogs. I tested this on several movies, but one particular scene that I like to test my subs on is in The Dark Knight Rises. It is where the Bat comes out of the alley and flies overhead of all the cops that think they have him cornered. Simply amazing sound! It felt like the Bat really flew over my house. I bet the neighbors did too. This sub displaces some serious energy. Adding this sub to my current setup really amplified the holes in my current Bose system. That's not to say that adding this sub hasn't juiced up my current home theater experience because it has! I will more than likely add other Klipsch speakers to complete the 7.2 experience. I definitely recommend this product.PROS: Amazing Price to Performance (I paid a lot for my Bose System), Very nice to look at, Lots of Power!CONS: Not really a con but some might see it as a con, the Size. Don't cheat physics, if you want life like base it comes at a cost.

I am really at a loss after having this sub for maybe 3 months and hardly any use, all of the sudden out of nowhere just sounds horrible like its blown or a short. Anyone else have any problems with the 8in sub? I usually have no quarrel with Rockville equipment as a whole, its affordable great sounding speakers and units. So glad I got the warranty with it.. It gives boom. If that is all you want and REALLY all you want, simply low frequency vibration to add to, say, a pair of bookshelf speakers, than this is for you. If you give even the slightest bit of attention to sound quality, this is not the sub for you. I bought this sub for two reasons – one, it was $115. Two, it had a frequency response down to 20hz, which is nuts for a 10" EXTREMELY budget subwoofer. While it does crank out 20hz frequencies, they are not as loud as say, its 40-60 hz frequencies. Also, this is the main reason I returned this sub: the distortion is through the roof. If you use a frequency slider and slide down the spectrum, it sounds great. Large, loud boom that more than shakes the room even on small volumes. You'd think, wow! I'd love to play some music with that amount of boom! Yeah, slight problem… It sounds pretty bad when you do. The bass is muddy, wobbly, and gives off that nasty distorted sound as soon as multiple frequencies are played through the speaker. I have read reviews that say it is because Rockville used the same port size as the Rock Shaker 8" on the 10" version, and that causes the distortion. I cannot attest to this as I have not bought the 8", but I would say it sounds plausible. I have decided to keep my quite old 50w Sony woofer, as while it does not nearly by any means compare to the amount of boom this woofer gives, or give the amount of sub-50hz boom as this one does, it produces tight, clean bass unlike this Rockville. I hope that this was a silly mistake and that the Rock Shaker 8" really does sound better, and maybe one day I will give Rockville another chance (they have quite good reviews on car audio… something they sell more than two products in…). For now, please audiophiles like me and anyone who doesn't want distortion in their woofer, beware of this sub and maybe try the 8", I do wonder if it really is tighter and cleaner than this 10". I hope so. I was really excited to finally move on from my Sony, which has a nasty home-theater EQ which boosts the heck out of 60hz and lets everything else above or below it hush up, but this is quite the disappointment. Although, I will say that the SUB-OUT on the back of the Rockville does output a ***FLAT EQ*** that made my Sony sound much better, so if you're looking for a $115 subwoofer EQ neutralizer to make your low end bass sound better, well, this will do the trick, lol. However, that flat EQ did unveil some distortion as frequencies passed the 28hz response limit of the Sony… use this (in the most silly situation possible, as an EQ) only on subs that dip down to 20hz as well… but most of them have flat EQs anyway, possibly disregard this last paragraph, oh well it's there. Goodbye, hopefully Rockville fixes that port and until then no one buys this sub unless they desire distortion… please go buy the 8".Carlos

This a very light sub….but its portability comes at a cost. You cant really push it. With all knobs set at 12'oclock the limit light comes on. You have back the base gains down on your board and the sub to keep it from clipping. Probably a good sub for a small basement party, but thats about it. Unfortunately, I will have to return this item. Such as a shame too because its so lightweight. Not sure why there are so many 5 star reviews on here for this. Perhaps AMS scrubs the bad reviews to drive sales on their products. Anyway, this was my honest opinion of this product. Buy if you want something lightweight for a very small (less than 100 poeple) and you are ok with the limiter coming at normal volumes.Todd
I really love this sub! First off, the bluetooth connection is so clutch because when I'm breaking down, I can play a playlist or mix from my phone while I pack up all of my other gear. Clients appreciate this because it gives them a little more bang for their buck too. It helps avoid that awkward silence while you're packing up. I've had this sub for almost a year now and it's still in great condition. The quality of the sub is great too. Overall: I read good experiences about this EKX-18SP subwoofer product, unfortunately it was not a good experience for me. It all started with a damaged grill, corners of the subwoofer were also damaged in multiple areas. This product has some packaging / durability issues that need to get addressed. I would recommend to save and try another product. Sound Quality was not there for me for the price range. Very dissatisfied with Price that was paid for the product that was received.

This sub really shines with music and is very competent at home theater. My room is small 22×16 so the 2000 pro is perfect. Sounds great watching all the 4K trailers on Apple TV. Especially the Transformer movies, MI movies and Gardians & X-men movies. My room rumbles distortion free. Blows away the Bose Lifestyle top of line. In fact different universe. As a musician I have very specific musical tastes. Here’s where 2000 Pro shines bright. Very clear powerful and precise. Diana Krall vocals never sound so deep and rich. King Crimson 3 drummer setup sounds like the drummers are in my living room and the clarity of Stanley Clarks bass on Romantic Warrior is stunning. Oh can’t forget the richness of John Myung bass and the power of Portnoys drums. To wrap this up if you listen to music absolutely get non ported sub for clarity punch and crispness if you love movies as well the pro 2000 is perfect , if you have a big space get the 3000 or 4000. If you watch MORE movies than music I’d probably get the SP version (ported). One thing for sure SVS subs are built incredibly well and sound amazing. I haven’t mentioned the APP which is seamless and works perfectly. If the app doesn’t connect for some reason just delete it and reinstall it works great and you adjust the settings from your listening position rather than getting up all the time to make adjustments. This PB-2000 Pro is the second subwoofer I have purchased from SVS. I'll try to sum up my opinions of the PB-2000 first. Then for those that wish to read further about my experience with SVS that makes me rate them highly as a company, read further. I've been able to listen to the PB-2000 for about a month now. Using different sources. Mostly BluRay live concert recordings in DTS master audio. BluRay movies. Multiple sources streaming through my Apple TV. Mostly Netflix, Prime, Disney+ and Apple TV content. Also remastered classic rock recordings done in multi-channel now on BluRay. Find remastered recordings done by someone that really knows what they are doing and it can be a whole new enjoyable listening experience to what you've been listening to for years. When it comes to musical abilities. This sub blends in seamlessly in my system. I can really appreciate how it beautifully reproduces the sounds of a traditional acoustic standup bass. Not to mention how well it sounds with electric bass guitars. The best thing I think I can say is this blends in so well and fills in the bottom end so seamlessly, I just forget it's even there. It sounds great. I'll list later what equipment I use. As for BluRay movies. What can I say. Sound effects galore. Explosions will get your attention. Those quiet moments that instantly transition to something surprisingly loud can make you jump. I haven't listened to a lot of subwoofers. But I stopped looking and listening when I found SVS. They just seem to reproduce sound without that fake boominess. Some people like that, I do not. I like accurate bass reproduction. SVS delivers that in my humble opinion. Please remember that the PRODUCTION QUALITY of your sound source material and how well it is mixed has a huge affect on what we hear. As with any sound reproduction equipment, garbage in, garbage out. Use quality source material and components and you'll sit back and enjoy. I also really appreciate the black ash finish. It closely matches my existing speaker system. I am not a fan of any app to control my devices. In my humble experience they usually have faults and do not work for me. Call me old school. (I am over 60 but have been an audiophile since I was a teenager and am not hesitant to check out and use new technology, as I've done throughout my working career, if it is GOOD tech). In the case of the bluetooth SVS app, my seating position, 20' from the sub, line of sight, no obstecles, does not maintain a connection. Not a big deal for me as once I set everything up properly originally in my system, I don't bother to change anything. No need to. If you're someone that just has to have an app, you may find this a negative. I do not. As to my system I incorporated the PB-2000 into. I've had this setup for some time now and it just works and sounds well in my listening environment. I use a Marantz AV7005 pre/pro, a Rotel 5 channel RMB-1075 power amp, Paradigm Monitor 7 V3 5 speaker system, Sony BluRay player, Apple TV 4K, Sony 5 disc changer SACD capable, a Mac Mini as a media server and an LG 60" plasma TV (I have yet to find a TV that can reproduce skin tones as accurately as my LG plasma. I'll use it until it no longer works). My listening area is my living room in an old farmhouse that has some modernization done over the years. It is 15' wide by 23' deep with a ceiling just under 8'. Wood frame, drywall walls and ceiling. Most of the wood floor is carpeted with 8' on the deep end where the main equipment and TV are located, exposed wood floor. I used the recommended settings for the sub provided by SVS for my speaker system. I then used the Audyssey Auto Setup of the Marantz. Using the microphone in as many positions as the system permitted. The only changes I made from there was to adjust the input levels from different sources in the Marantz so they would be similar. When looking at the adjustments the Audyssey software incorporated, they are minimal. This has worked well for me. I used the same technique with my former SVS subwoofer. It just seemed to work for me. One other note. With the purchase of the PB-2000 I also purchased the SVS SoundPath subwoofer isolation system. I was able to compare the sound with and without the isolation system. Remember, I live in a 100+ year old wood frame farmhouse. WOW! I cannot believe what a major difference the isolation makes in my particular installation. Without the isolation there were things that would vibrate and rattle in the listening room and beyond. With the isolation- – it's pretty much eliminated all of those. Which makes the bass produced by the PB-2000 that much more detailed and accurate. Well worth the price. I wouldn't buy another sub without this isolation. As to why I cannot say enough good things about SVS as a company. The other SVS subwoofer I have is a PB12-NSD I purchased some years ago. SVS SB-2000 Pro I don’t normally do reviews very often, but every once in a while you come across something that just strikes you the right way and you want to talk about it. This is my first experience with SVS, so there is no prior history or loyalty based on any kind of fanboyism. I was having conversation with my brother and wanted to switch from my 5.1 system to a Atmos 5.1.2 system, I ordered my receiver and 4k blu ray player and got everything connected just to find out that my trusty and beloved subwoofer (M&K V1-B – VOLKSWOOFER) had completely failed, No Sound other then a nasty hum. So, I set off on a journey to repair or replace it, I have had that sub for so long and it was pretty expensive when I purchased it new, I looked on Amazon an saw many Subwoofers but many of them only went down to about 35 to 30Hz. This seemed crazy to me as my main speakers go down to 36Hz, so I realized I needed to get a little more serious and find a real legit subwoofer. I started my normal process of research overload, reading every review, checking specs, looking at esthetics and all of the OCD stuff that I tend to do when looking to purchase something. Based on everything I was seeing SVS made some pretty good subwoofers, of course I never heard them so this strictly based on what others were saying. I finally came to the conclusion that the SVS SB-2000 was the one that I was going to target, it seemed to check all of my requirement boxes: 19-220 hz, Sealed Box, Compact design, Powerful Amp 500 watts rms (1100 watts peak). The only thing I was not crazy about was the metal grill (I just prefer black cloth as it fits into room better esthetically in my opinion) So, I order one SVS SB-2000 from Amazon and never received it, it got lost/stolen or something, but after being extremely frustrated and getting my refund from Amazon, I decided to contact SVS directly, the crazy thing is that I received an email about a New SVS SB-2000 Pro, so when speaking with SVS on the phone I mentioned it and ordered directly, Shipping was very fast, I was stunned at how quickly this sub arrived. One thing that really stood out to me was how friendly and patient the support is at SVS, I had lots of question and never felt rushed, I got answers and responses that allowed me to fully understand my needs. Now, about the SB-2000 Pro, first thing was this thing is really, really compact, I love that, you can place them almost anywhere in your room…very nice. Next and most importantly of course is the sound, these little sealed Boxes Hit really hard, I was actually a little shocked at how good this thing sounded, I could now understand why the SVS Subwoofers were getting such high praise. No this was from a SVS SB-2000 Pro, I really can’t imagine what some of the larger SVS products like the SB-4000 or SB16-Ultra would sound like, pretty scary if you ask me, that must be some really serious BASS. So, after having such an amazing experience with my SVS SB-2000 Pro Purchase, I decided to order and second one and now I have 2. I don't know if I am whining but this thing clips early with the volume up only 30% on certain songs. My other EV 12" subs don't do this, but they don't have the same lows that this 12" sub has. I have to watch this sub like a hawk when a basey song comes on and I have the volume turned up. It clips pretty early on certain songs. It still sounds good and with the volume at a moderate to loud level. You might want to look at the ALTO for a little more money….but I don't know for sure. Knowing what I know now I would have bought something different. I have done plenty of live events with karaoke but mostly friends. Done a few paid events. If it were me I would test this against the ALTO or another reasonably priced 12" sub and see which one is better. I gave it 3 stars so anybody buying this will give a little pause and make sure this sub is for them.jim
I've been using a pair of Eurolive B115D 1000W 15 inch Powered Speakers for my classic rock trio (guitar, bass, drum machine) for the past 3 years. Those speakers have enough power for a small to medium-sized room. When we do a gig outdoors or in a large room, we need additional far-reaching THUMP for putting the bass and drum machine into the fronts. I added 2 Behringer subwoofers and now we have more than enough bass power in the fronts. I don't give 5 stars very often, but a good product, decent price, and fast service from Sweetwater make it an over-the-top 5-star rating. The subwoofers are easy to set up with XLR inputs and outputs. I have the poles to raise my top speakers up, but for patio party gigs, we avoid blasting our high end into people's faces; we leave the poles in the truck and stack the top speakers on top of the subwoofers – looks good and sounds good.
I bought this to see if it could add some more low end to my Bose L1 Compact system for my solo/duo guitar/bass gigs. I must say that it enhances the low end very nicely. I've only used it in my studio so far, but I am confident it will serve very well at gigs. I wanted this sub to allow me to bring the Bose Compact to most of my gigs, especially smaller outdoor gigs. There is just me and a bass guitar player with backing tracks (drums), and a more pronounced bass guitar and kick drum was desired. This sub serves that purpose very well. It's light and small enough, and the power and sound are excellent. Can't wait to try it at our next gig. I gave it 5 stars because so far it appears to do exactly what I bought it for.Dave

I already have a klipsch RW-12d bought in 2011 from another seller, which recently stopped working but was able to replace the power module and still working great. So when I needed another one for building a home theater in the basement, didn’t think twice. Bought this one and happy with it. If you ask me which one is better, I have to say the RW-12d is better but no more available to buy. It has the Corner Port Technology that allows the subwoofer's port tube to be as long as possible without bending, minimizing turbulence that can cause port noise and distortion. My second one of these, one for the main home theater system and this one to pair with my Klipsch R-51PM powered bookshelf speakers to bring more boom to my bedroom. An 8” or even 10” would probably be a more suitable choice for the size of my room but this was on sale and who doesn’t like the massive punch and rumble of a 12” powered sub? This thing knocks hard. It’s massive though and finding a suitable place to place it while still maximizing bass potential wasn’t easy. Good luck finding a subtle place to put it if you and or your spouse/partner has a love for aesthetics and design. In a home theater setting it’s perfect and probably way more powerful than many would actually need but it’s nice to have more if you ever wanted to use it. Ok, I was going to purchase the 10 inch version of this subwoofer but it was suggested the 12 inch version would be better for my setup. Boy was I glad I followed that suggestion. The bass is amazing! If you like the bass thumping sound during those TV movies this is the one for you. I have purchased a isolation platform to keep the vibrations down a bit which happens with hard wood floors. This unit comes with LFE so you can set the sub and once done you don't have to make changes between just listening to music or sound tracks played during movies. Using this with my Polk speakers has me watching more TV due to the enhance thunderous bass provide by this unit. So far the sub has enhanced the listening to of music, the sound provide as one watches tv or the sounds tracks of movies as well as speech of both tv an moves sound a lot better with this subwoofer. To test my setup I have played music from country to classical with amazing sound across all. I know this item can be a bit expensive for some, however remember "you get what you pay for". Besides you don't buy this type of unit very often so get a good subwoofer and enjoy it for years unless you abuse it by driving it so hard that you constantly cause distortion to be played which can destroy any speaker regardless of the unit. Overall: Up front, I was immediately impressed by the depth of the bass on this little 12 inch sub. I own two DLM12 tops and run them with (2) 18” Cerwin Vega P-Series subs but when space is tight, the DLM12s subs will deliver. I got one as a back up and Im pretty sure i will buy a second one in the near future. zZounds thank you for bringing these back into inventory. From the lineage as the SRM450 V1, the DLM series has returned to high quality and now with robust power. I would recommend these subs for small to medium weddings, bars and events with tight spaces.
Overall: I just checked out the Mackie DLM loudspeakers. They are way cool. Unique, compact design, tons of power and a built-in digital mixer. The DLM12 full-range speakers sound amazing with 2000 watts, plus you can run them with the DLM12S Subs for extended bottom-end. The DLM8s make great stage monitors OR you can use them as top boxes too. Get two of each and a DL1608 Digital Mixer for a totally killer PA – mains, wedges and wireless mixing… Awesome.Mike

Build specs: .6 cuft w/passive radiator tuned to 30hz at 450w rms. Xover @ 80hz No bass boost. Details: This build is for a Miata. Which is tricky to make decent low bass in. Being the trunk not fully coupled to the cabin. And there's not much space. Polk dbs on a Rockford amp in the doors handle the punchy bass around 80hz really well. But generating good output below that, is where this sub came in. The design is targeting SQ over SPL. Modeling small sealed boxes, peaked to high with the woofer. Ported was really the way to go. However, port length became an issue. Which is how I ended up with the PR. The PR in use here is the Earthquake SLAPS 8 tunable PR. With an additional 160 grams of mass added. And a half pound of poly in the box. Design: carpeted, "bass tube" inspired design. With white trim around the baffles to match the vehicle. Baffles wider at the bottom for additional stability. Bottom mounted terminal for a clean look, with a groove for the wire to sit in. Results: Overall output is more than reasonable. Plenty of bass to be had. Kick drums punch hard, and hit high in the chest. Synth bass is well controlled and can get down below the seat, as if it's coming from the floor. Output at tuning is acceptable, followed by a very sharp drop off. But there is a strong cabin gain in the upper 40's. Despite not using the amps bass boost. The sub handles the amp well. With very little breakup up, only when pushed. For the price, with the end result I've experienced in this particular build. The tropo is tough to beat.N.P.
I put four of these in my 2021 Nissan Titan. I’ve been running them for about two months now, with a RF T1000-1 bdcp pushing them. The box has two side ports tuned to 38Hz, and they have 1.8cuf of air space. I’m not flexing my windshield, but these little suckers bang like crazy! I listen to a lot of EDM, and metal, and the sound is clear. I did lose a little kick drum tightness by going ported, but I’m still happy with the results I’m getting. If you’re tight on space, and you don’t want your wallet to cry when buying subs, you’ll be more than pleasantly surprised with all you’ll get in this small, affordable package.Eric W.
if this is your price range and sound quality is a must don't hesitate. I've never had a skar but I was torn between this or the svr and I think this I made the right choice. Definitely likes to be inverted but response is much more profound in a very narrow hz range. They take clipped power at 800 plus watts for up to 5 minutes and I just smell the coil getting hot moderately. This was done accidentally of course my stock alt couldn't support rp1500.1 power thirst. It's definitely stout can't wait to build a custom enclosure but 1.5 cubes seems too small when it sounded louder and cleaner down low inverted in a 2 cube prefab at 36 hz tune. But idk definitely best I've owned will see how long it lastsP.w.

I'm a mobile dj and wanted a powered sub to compliment my PA system which includes a Mackie FXPRO8 and two Mackie Thumps 15TH-A, I was looking for power and portability. Something that was going to sound good of course and something I was going to be able to haul around with ease. Now don't be fooled, please don't be fooled just because you read this is a 12' and not a 15 or 18…nah that makes no difference with the EV. At the Guitar Center in La Mesa, CA as soon as it got plugged it in, the whole speaker room floor, walls and windows began to rattle and that was only using a cell phone for audio but the sub was also turned all the way up max and the indicator light didn't turn off just stayed one. I thought to myself, how would it actually sound when it's connected to the rest of your PA system…ummmm. I went around and started to lift the other subs I was considering to purchase and they were helluv heavy I wasn't going to be able to get any of those on to my truck by myself (maybe I would be able to if I wanted to blow my back out or get herniated) I would need a second person or a ramp and sometimes that second can't always make it to help, what about moving it around late in the evening at the end night when you've had some drinks and have been mixing for 5 to 6 hours straight, nah I wasn't going to able to handle those larger subs properly. I picked this bad boy up and it's about 50-60lbs with nice handles I picked up like nothing, yeah, this is what I'm looking for something powerful and easy to handle. It's 700 watts peak just like some of the other subs I was looking at thought about it and made my decision, I took it home out the door with 2 year warranty and a Livewire cable for $750. I've owned it now close to a month now and have had two gigs outdoor and indoor. Outdoor I set it on top of a cardboard that came inside the box with the original packing, I can sit the sub on it perfectly. You are able to feel the floor shake at a radius lets say around 20-25 feet and we're talking that's outside on grass at a park and only turned on at level 3 on a clock that's like at the 10 o'clock position and the indicator light didn't even go on once and it was bumping. Indoor I set it on top of a squared cut off carpet, I was set on a stage in a midsize room with about 175-200 persons same thing, I didn't have to go pass that 10 o'clock mark to have it bumping. One of the best things about the sub is the stress it takes off the TH15As giving thus extended life in the future in my opinion and thought of actualization. Electro-Voice calls it the worlds most powereful smallest compact sub, yup, you couldn't explain it any other way, it's true. Don't hesitate this sub will make you so proud, it's perfect for small and midsize rooms, outdoor events such as backyard boogies and park events.
I play in a band and own a PA rental company. For the band we use Cervin Vega powered 15's and/or Yamaha DS Powered 15's. This little EV is NOT one of those. If you want HUGE bass that thumps you in the chest in big rooms, don't get this EV sub. However, this little EV produces excellent bass sound that you CAN feel in smaller rooms. The day after I received it, I took it to a business meeting PA rental gig. It was in a 3000 sq' room that I work all the time. The sub was easy to set up and dial in. After I set everything up I put on some bass heavy dance music and cranked it. OMG, I could not believe how killer the low end sounded and I was only using one of these EV subs. I have since used it at dance parties and other events, and I will be purchasing another one soon. The reason I bought this for my PA rental business was because I needed something smaller that would fit in my employee’s car and be light enough for one person to move it! This thing fits the bill. I also wanted something that could stand up to rental customer abuse and not cost too much. Here are the cons: The finish on the sub is not as tough as on my Cerwin Vegas or my Yamahas, and it scratches pretty easy. After a while, all my speaker cabs get pretty banged up, so that doesn’t really bother me, but it might bother you. Get the cover if that is the case. The Pole Mount: The sub will take a standard pole to mount your top speaker. However, the rating on the sub states that the top speaker must weigh LESS than 25 pounds. None of my speakers weigh less than 25 pounds, so I have to set up a tripod stand instead of using the pole. Keep that in mind. The Thru/Out XLR’s. This is a minor thing, but there is only one thru/output per channel. My CV and Yamaha’s have two, so when I only use one subwoofer, routing is easier with them. Not a deal breaker, but something you might want to know. I purchased this from AMS on a Scratch and Dent deal, so there was a big savings. Sound: I set this up in a small room to just check it out once it arrived. I just used my small Mackie ProFX12 v2 which I set the EQ to being flat and the USB set to Unity. The Sub remained flat as well and was set to what the factory shipped it at. I played just the sub alone with no PA Speaker and used several genre of music. Low's are crazy and responsive from love songs to Remix San Holo, etc. I then hooked it up to an EV ZLX 12P which I set to SUB @80HZ and WOW, what a small compact crazy combo. There is nothing about this set up I wouldn't feel good about taking to any small to medium venue. The sub is definitely on point and exceeded expectations for its size. Features: Features are great for what such a small and powerful sub has to offer. Ease of Use: It was super easy to get sound from this sub, XLR from the mixer and of course USB from the Mac and done. It was really quick and easy to get this working with other products. There was no learning curve at all, very simple and easy set-up. Quality: The sub seems like it is made very well. Handles feel great, rubber feet which I like so it's not sliding across any hard surface while it hits. On reliability, I go with EV because of reviews and quality I feel they have. I cannot say just yet how reliable this sub is because I haven't had a chance to really have it play for any extended amount of time but all other EV sub/speakers I own have never gave me a concern yet. I feel based on my first impressions that this sub will hold up very well and currently have no concerns. Value: Absolutely, there are some really great sounding subs out there at comparable prices. I feel this sub at this price point with the EV reputation carries the best value you can find in a compact and powerful sub. Manufacturer Support: I have never had to contact the manufacturer. The Wow Factor: I feel the look and probably the marketing of EV products draw me in but overall I do play these next to others and personally I just love the sound. So, even though I may own others the EV's are my go to for purchasing new equipment. Construction, quality, look, and sound just draw me in. Overall: Called in to order this small sub and the service/ordering process was fast and easy. Went over a few options and got the order placed. It shipped as expected and arrived in excellent condition. Like all new additions/equipment I was excited to hear this little guy go to work. I purchased one of these several months ago to replace an older 12" sub for my home theatre setup. I was pleased but wanted a bit more. So I recently purchased a second one to balance the system out. The bass is very real and balanced. It now handles everything from movies and every type of music i have tried on it. They pair very well with my older JBL HLS810 (8" low and horn mid/high) sitting right on top. I don't think I could get a better powered sub without spending many, many times more money. I have a very critical ear and have worked with both home audio and live sound for years. I also have spent a lot of time mixing live sound so I think I know what sounds good. After running my DSP and EQing the room I am beyond pleased with this powered sub and the price is a bonus. Both were purchased from Parts Express. I didn't want to spend $500+ for a sub, so did a lot of investigating, reading reviews, etc. Everything kept pointing to the BIC as I was looking for a great value. This sub lives up to the 'hype'. Incredibly powerful, and after tweaking it via my receiver, and balancing my 5.1 set-up, not really too 'boomy' at all. For those who may have issues with the 'auto setting', turn the volume dial way down on the sub and use the receiver to set the volume level. Mine comes on immediately this way, even at lower volumes levels. For me, a steal at $160 shipped in 'like new' condition. I've always looked for good deals/values when purchasing AV/audio components, and this was a great pick. My only real negatives are the 'cheapy' vinyl laminate finish, and the fact that it looks like a boring big box, but given the bass that comes out of this unit, I'll live with it. Many have stated it does not do well for music and more a 'movie' sub, but I have no complaints with the bass produced for music, but yes, it is great for movies and TV. I have been waiting for a few years to find a great price on the BIC F12 and finally Parts-Express came through. My 22 year old KLH 15" sub finally gave up the ghost after a power surge knocked out the plate amplifier. I shopped around for a replacement AMP but then ran across the F12 and was reminded how much I wanted this particular sub for a while now. I am not an audiophile, but the F12 fits my needs perfectly. Sounds good with TV, Movies and the genres of Music that I listen to most. IMHO the 12" driver and amp in the F12 are more than capable of providing the low end umph! I want. The cabinet is solid, the rubber feet are a nice touch and I can not hear a hint of funky resonance in the port design. One bonus is that auto-sense actually works on this sub as long as your input signal is strong enough. I never could get the auto-sense to work reliably on the old KLH. The cabinet is reasonably sized for a 12" sub, not overly large, but large enough to allow the driver to breath. In fact the cabinet looks downright dimunitive when set next to my old sub, but don't let the size fool you. I'd also like to comment on small features that scream quality. The switches for the power and phase control both have metal levers, which I thought was a nice touch. They could have easily used plastic switch levers, but the choice of metal levers is just overe the top. I'm very happy with the purchase. Price was excellent and shipping was very fast. Bought this 1200watt subs & amp package from Fingerhut for pretty cheap considering the source! After installing a aftermarket head unit, purchasing a kicker 800 watt amp instead of using the MTX amp that came with the subs couse honestly, the amp that was included seamed kinda underpowered, into my 2015 Kia Soul, I was impressed with the sound & bass they produced! I cranked the beats each and every time I drove for a year straight, that’s when one of the subs voices-coils blew. So instead of contacting Fingerhut’s warranty department I contacted MTX with all receipts and paperwork for the purchase, explained the problem and what my expectations & goal was. They sent me a return package label to return the damaged sub to them for repairs. Wasn’t more than a week & I received what I thought was my repaired sub however, they actually sent me a brand new sub! I have my DSW550WI in my bedroom. I use the Yamaha RX V-663 as a 2 channel stereo. My mains are a pair of Polk Audio TSx220B speakers. The sub woofer is set to the default 50% volume and really adds depth to my system. Sounds like a totally difference system. I love it! Sub woofer turns on when I play music and goes to sleep 10 minutes after I am done. Well worth what I paid. I listen to classical, soft rock, new age and country and if I had known what a difference a sub woofer would make, I would have bought one much sooner. I have been a Polk Audio customer for at least 6 years and find Polk Audio products very well made worth what they cost.Jim G
Overall I feel this is a good quality subwoofer. In the end, the sound is what matters, and this one didn't let my expectations fall short. In fact, it almost seems like overkill in my 11×16 movie room. Instead of giving this unit a remote control and wireless feature, I would have rather had them focus on the finer details and just let it be a basic subwoofer instead of adding frills to it (and inflating the price). In my opinion, it's in a very tough and competitive price bracket. I already have a klipsch RW-12d bought in 2011 from another seller, which recently stopped working but was able to replace the power module and still working great. So when I needed another one for building a home theater in the basement, didn’t think twice. Bought this one and happy with it. If you ask me which one is better, I have to say the RW-12d is better but no more available to buy. It has the Corner Port Technology that allows the subwoofer's port tube to be as long as possible without bending, minimizing turbulence that can cause port noise and distortion. My second one of these, one for the main home theater system and this one to pair with my Klipsch R-51PM powered bookshelf speakers to bring more boom to my bedroom. An 8” or even 10” would probably be a more suitable choice for the size of my room but this was on sale and who doesn’t like the massive punch and rumble of a 12” powered sub? This thing knocks hard. It’s massive though and finding a suitable place to place it while still maximizing bass potential wasn’t easy. Good luck finding a subtle place to put it if you and or your spouse/partner has a love for aesthetics and design. In a home theater setting it’s perfect and probably way more powerful than many would actually need but it’s nice to have more if you ever wanted to use it. Ok, I was going to purchase the 10 inch version of this subwoofer but it was suggested the 12 inch version would be better for my setup. Boy was I glad I followed that suggestion. The bass is amazing! If you like the bass thumping sound during those TV movies this is the one for you. I have purchased a isolation platform to keep the vibrations down a bit which happens with hard wood floors. This unit comes with LFE so you can set the sub and once done you don't have to make changes between just listening to music or sound tracks played during movies. Using this with my Polk speakers has me watching more TV due to the enhance thunderous bass provide by this unit. So far the sub has enhanced the listening to of music, the sound provide as one watches tv or the sounds tracks of movies as well as speech of both tv an moves sound a lot better with this subwoofer. To test my setup I have played music from country to classical with amazing sound across all. I know this item can be a bit expensive for some, however remember "you get what you pay for". Besides you don't buy this type of unit very often so get a good subwoofer and enjoy it for years unless you abuse it by driving it so hard that you constantly cause distortion to be played which can destroy any speaker regardless of the unit. I believe these subs actually sound better than all of the more main stream, entry level subs that are available. The MOFO X series picks up low bass extremely well. Kicks punch. This subwoofer is an amazing product. I have it hooked up to a kicker 1200 watt amp and it pushes it very well. I am using a sealed q logic contour box in a 97 Dodge Ram truck and with the 2 farad cap it really hits hard! The magnet on the sub is very beefy and the all aluminum spider that holds the sub is solid. I would highly recommend this sub to anyone looking for a great value. No need in spending big bucks on a "name brand" one. I have only had it in for a couple of weeks, so if something changes I may have to update this review, but for now I'm extremely satisfied with my purchase!!mthedemonhunter

Bought this to replace my older JBL sub that was having issues. Even though this Klipsch cabinet is a bit smaller, the sound is incredible! I'm only running output level at 50%, yet is still rumbles my wall and makes a few of my hanging pictures rattle the wall, even though it's 10 away from wall.Creston
My litmus test for a subwoofer is listening to "On My Level" by Wiz Khalifa – loud. Many thousand dollar+ subwoofers don't handle this song, and I've never seen a sub-thousand dollar one that did. Much to my surprise, this one did an adequate job, no dropouts or major distortion with good punch and clarity (at least until it got to fairly high volume). It didn't get the extreme lows and couldn't quite get the full impact, but I'm extremely impressed. Great value.thealexisconnection

Having a smaller, open family room space I didn’t want, or need, a 10 or 12 inch sub-woofer. Keeping the nails in the walls, and pictures hanging seemed to be a good thing. I spent some time with the BB salesperson and once he understood where I was at, he went right to the KEF 8” unit. This thing has more than enough juice to make sure you experience Maverick at his best or Smaug in all his glory without making the windows wish they were better quality. Smaller unit can be tucked away and it’s beautiful black finish makes it easy on the eyes if you do see it. Brits did a nice job with this product. Just follow the instruction suggestions to get great bass and low end response.BKSchoffner
Not a big sound guy, but I needed a good subwoofer for my family room setup. This thing hits. It’s very easy to fine tune the amount of bass you want and it’s very easy to connect to a receiver. Pretty much, plug and play. One thing though, this cube is big. I didn’t pay attention to the dimensions. Luckily, it was no problem for my current layout.Russ
Very musical sounding sub blends very nicely and easily with my bowers and Wilkins. But there's one big problem, it only turns on with high volumes. If you're listening to say 70-73 db volumes which I usually do it shuts off. Was reading about this on other places and contacted kef customer service as well but they did not have any help with this. Only other option was using the lfe input. But for me, I wanted to use it with speaker level input. So if you're listening to over 80db volumes it's fine but if it's around 70db or around it's not gonna work. Another thing is with really higher volumes which we rarely do listen to it gets a bit boomy.Gagz
