I put this 16” (for main engine bay cooling) and a 12” fan (for the ac) in my Audi B7 S4 as an upgrade over the stock Valero fans. The V8 is shoehorned into this small car, and heat management is a concern. The Flex-waves are very impressive. I chose them over SPAL, Derale, and Mishimoto fans. The funny blade edge does seem to make a difference – the CFM can certainly be felt, and they are super quiet, quieter than OEM. Even in summertime desert heat at operating temperature and at a standstill, the fan controller never sends them above 91-93%. My intake air temperatures are kept 18-26 degrees above ambient, which is an improvement of about 10-30 degrees. AC cools down about 3 minutes quicker. They cost considerably less than OEM replacements, though some clearance cutting of the plastic portion of the core support is necessary, along with a little bit of shroud modification, but it’s not too hard. They clear the front of the motor and its accessories belt by about 1/2”, which is about the same as OEM. Very pleased.KEITH
I ran the fans on my work bench side by side so I could compare. Significantly more air movement than my previous straight-bladed fan of the same size. Nothing scientific, just holding hand in front of one and then other. Also, a lot of electric fans are kind of loud – this fan really isn't much quieter side by side with a straight blade, BUT! the tone, the note of sound, of this fan is much lower: so I don't even notice it when my vehicle is running. Massive improvement. The wavy blades really work, both in terms of air movement and in terms of being "quieter". Also, I can now run my car hard uphill with A/C without overheating. Only reason it doesn't get 5 star installation is that it doesn't come with any kind of connector, it's just naked wire leads coming out of the motor.SETH
Review is for the 105391 not the 390. Part #239. Great fan BUT it is NOT A PUSHER. It is a puller!! If you are going to mount it on outside of radiator or condenser, then the brackets are flat on blade side. Thus – you CAN NOT mount it with motor facing engine – duh! This flat design for bracket side to be mounted against the radiator or condenser requires it to be mounted in a way that makes this fan a puller and NOT a pusher. I know I can reverse the polarity and reverse the motor but I should not have to do this if the specs says it is a pusher to begin with. The puller is a different # but the same fan. It just makes me wonder if Flex-A-Lite has got this fan or numbers mixed up for the way it is designed to be mounted.BILL

I recently installed an ironman on my k20 turbo rsx and overall, I am happy with it. just be aware that this clutch is pretty aggressive for a single disc clutch. as well as a tad noisey during engagement… a slight chirp will be heard during shifts and coming into first. but thats just the nature of the beast. hope this helpsdave

This is well worth the money, mounting wasn't that tricky if you are slightly creative and it looks really good in the engine bay. I spent maybe $10 in hardware for mounting purposes and drilled two holes in the bottom of the shroud so it's bolted onto the radiator in 4 places (very sturdy) but that didn't seem like a huge deal to me. Keeps my built 306 cooler than the old, ugly clutch fan (granted, I do have a edelbrock high flow water pump and 3 row aluminum radiator but still) and was really easy to wire up. It is also surprisingly quiet for a 7amp motor. Would not hesitate to buy this at all especially when every other electric fan out there is ~$200.BrandonF
I paired with mishimoto radiator, eddlebrock water pump and 160 mishimoto thermostat. Oh and aftermarket fan controller. On a 95d day at idle no Ac stays at 180. Running around town it runs about 212 to 218. Seems to be working great. Very loud but when your factory would not come the fan is a good sound. I think the factory fan wiring was experiencing a short to ground, or high resistance in the wiring. This set up allows me to control the fan sooner on hot days.N20GT
I used this fan to replace the OEM factory fan on my 1994 Mustang GT (302). It is the same diameter but has more fins. It is quieter and seems to pull more air. It fits well – you have to fabricate 2 straps to attach to body. Very nice 1-speed fan which works well with my Flex-a-lite adjustable fan controller module. Well worth the effort. Can adjust fan to help car run at 180-195F rather than 215F which is factory setting.ColinB

After researching several electric fans the most recommended fan was the SPAL. I must agree that this fan while a bit noisy moves a lot of air. I was having overheating issues in traffic using a mechanical fan, mechanical water pump and no shroud on a 545HP 383 Stroker engine. I installed a shroud, electric water pump and this SPAL fan and I am extremely happy. No more overheat issues.DONALD
Bought this to replace the straight blade version. According to the Spal website, this version is quieter. It is actually about the same. When my sensor (read ahead) turns the fan on in traffic, the temp goes down quickly. Used the Spal pigtail & 175-195 degree sensor/automatic turn on/shutoff, which works very well. Tried other products, which were junk.riverwork
This fan moves a lot of air and is needed in single fan applications where you are running an Air Conditioner. I've used it on 2 different cars and it works well. A word of caution however. You must use a fan control circuit that is capable of 40 amp start up currents. A lot of the small fan controllers will fail immediately if you use them with this fan.ROCK

The fan works great, easy to install, keeps my engine temperature under control. My disappointment is because the tie straps that fasten it to the radiator had no anchors, the straps were there, the foam pads were there, but the anchors that click over the straps to retain it were missing. Forcing me to go to town(several miles away) and purchase a new fan retaining kit.WILLIAM
Looks good and easy install. Initially appeared to be a good, solid fan but it all went down-hill from there. I received this in March and wasn't able to install it until late-June. The fan was not working very well by the second week of July and has quit all together now (the first week of August). I called Proform and their warranty is useless (30-days on electrics). The tech-support guy seemed willing to help, if I take it apart and figure out the problem so they can send me a new part (not sure if I will be charged for that or not, yet). I got the motor apart and there is some kind of corrosion or foreign material in the motor. What good is a radiator fan if stuff gets inside it being on the front of a truck for TWO weeks. I am still working the tech support avenue, hoping this is a fluke and they can assist me, but as of writing this I am thoroughly dissatisfied. This fan caused my truck to overheat sitting in Seattle traffic and I am hoping there aren't any lingering issues from that.AARON

I have an aftermarket 3 core radiator. Had a pusher fan in my 32 coupe with a Chrysler 318 4bbl and a moderate cam. Was running up to 210 degrees with the pusher rated at 2200 RPM. Now runs 190 degrees, like the thermostat wants. Thanks Summit for your FAST service! Some may say that an electric fan doesn’t look right on a 32 but I needed to cool her down and could not get a mechanical fan between the radiator and the engine.BRYAN

Mounted fan on a homemade aluminum shroud, offset from centre of rad due to clearance issues with water pump. Drops temperature quickly… More economical than dual fan setup. Needed new alternator as current draw outweighed charging. Order corresponding gasket and connector for easier install would be my advice. Very happy with results!MARK
Have not installed the fan yet as my build is not complete. But straight out of the box the fan feels sturdy and well built. It is not flimsy and cheap feeling like the flex a lite which I was comparing the spal to. Shipping was amazingly fast as well. Had it shipped from summit to Canada and it was here in less than a week with the cheapest shipping!DILLON

I replaced a 17 year old pair of Spal fans, one locked up and the other wasn't coasting very well. The new fans with the more curved blades (the old ones were like the SPAL 30102048), are quite a bit quieter than the old ones. Less like a vacuum cleaner. My rating is based on the longevity of the old fans because the new ones have the same motors, and the new ones are quieter.MICHAEL

This just so happens to fit the after market radiator on my 66 Nova perfectly. Install required cutting off the mounting ears and coming up with a custom mounting solution. I also needed to go with a short water pump in place of my long style pump to get adequate clearance. This this is fairly large. Wiring is straightforward if you know what you're doing but it doesn't come with the pigtail connector. This fan really sucks, no pun intended. The built in shroud is hugely helpful as well.KEVIN
This is the Daddy of the Taurus shroud/fan combo that is used in the hot rod underground. Crazy high CFMs on both high and low speeds for those hot rodders and jeepers in the know. Not only do you get this crazy efficient fan but an integral shroud that is affordable enough to be modded. Make sure to buy the pigtail, use proper gauge wiring and high amperage relays hooked directly to the battery junction. This a great product if you have or plan to add Air Conditioning. It is 5" thick so make sure you have enough space. It may not work for my application as a result of space limitations but it may be a gift to a fellow rodder in need if it does not fit. I have a slightly modded 302 sbf, AOD trans, high stall converter, with trans cooler, A/C and other upgrades to engine/exhaust/trans. New stock clutch and fan couldn't keep my engine cool with A/C running especially at idle. This beast is just what i needed to fix the problem. I did have to cut a 1/2 inch off of the shroud and flip the fan upside down to clear the water pump while using a stock size aluminum radiator because my dual core was to thick for this fan. Now im running super cool with no worries of overheating. Don't forget the fans harness part # SMP-HP4540EDWARD

Sitting here with my high dollar fans broke down on the side of the road. One fan was spinning the opposite direction after proper installation. Where as both fans should be pulling air into the engine bay. And not trying to push air against the force of the movement of air into the radiator as I drive. Both are now broke down and not working even after swapping the wires on the reversed fan.TAYLOR
I'm on my second fan pack. The first one began to show signs of failure – one fan only drawing 17A and the second drawing 27A. Should draw 23.9 a piece. I agree with the other reviewer about the cheap fuse holders and relays. They are WAY underrated for the current these fans draw. Both my fuse holders melted due to the heat generated by poor electrical contact within the fuse holder. And the relays are not suited to handle 25A continuous. I threw mine out and upgraded them. Plus on startup, the fan that draws 27A peaked at over 30A and kept blowing the blade fuse. When they work, these fans are effective but you must wire them up with heavy duty relays and fuse holders and slo-blo fuses. Or you will have issues.ALASTAIR
Installed pair of fans on my Pontiac and they lasted less than 5 miles of driving. One fan stopped working and the other was turning very slowly. Further inspection show the flimsy brush plate cause the armatures to rub the brush holders. Will never use Derale products for ver again.DONALD
