Purchased thru Amazon, read instructions and couldn’t get it to start. I called troubleshooting after verifying my power & 1st asked if there was anything else I could try. The rep didn’t hesitate, started process to send another. As we finished she suggested I try moving the safety bar back then forward again(truth is, the step I forgot). It fired right up! Then the work began. This chewed thru branches & within 30 minutes I had trimmed up the felled branches. Then I went after the 5’ tall trunk that was a good 18-20” in diameter. It took about 4 minutes but it’s down & outta my yard. It’s light weight but worked great! I have a battery operated saw but the battery isn’t holding a charge and the replacement is $25 less than this chainsaw. So, cost, efficient, hard working, easy to handle and then customer service, I’m sold and so happy I bought. (FYI, I’m 68 year old woman retired from telephone industry)Grandma Jane
Much better and more powerful than my old Homelite plug-in chainsaw that burned out due to being only 9 amps and underpowered. No end guard on this bar so plunge cuts are a breeze. The handbrake is a great safety feature not found on my previous chainsaw. Also, the chain tensioner cap that stays connected to cover is great, instead of a wingnut falling into the grass and being impossible to find. The blade cover is also a plus! Overall, a much better design, more powerful, and longer chain bar than a similarly priced Homelite chainsaw. Worx needs to ship these better – mine came in an oversized box that was half open, with no packaging material to keep it safe. Luckily, it was undamaged.joeyfrenchfries
Never used an electric chainsaw before but looked over the reviews and some articles to decide and glad I did. I don't have as much property as before so it's easier to get an extension cord almost everywhere. Had a huge tree cut down in my front yard but they didn't cut it into small enough logs for me to move so I was hoping for a chainsaw that would without having to be gas. This chainsaw worked amazingly. It's easy to get to the bar and chain and easy to adjust or tighten. I cut some logs that were over 2 feet in diameter and smaller ones were a breeze. Didn't realize it didn't come with bar and chain oil but glad I read over the entire manual and found that, but it seems to use up a full reservoir in 3 hours of cutting. I used this saw to remove a 15" diameter 26' tall tree from my yard. The 16" chain/ blade easily cut the tree down and I have used the saw to section into trash bin sized pieces so I could have it carried away by the normal household garbage service. The chain is still sharp enough to make cuts. This saw is actually better than I expected it to be. It cuts just as well as the gas model I previously used that was beyond help. This is probably the best thing I have bought in a long time. No more waiting for all the water in the kettle to boil as it only heats and dispenses the right amount for the drink you are making. Need more hot water no problem you can dispense up to 1.5 litres. Once you have worked out your various cup capacities ( most are 240-260 ml ) you just set the dial and press start within a few minutes the tea or coffee is ready dispensed automatically. I read some negative reviews re taste of drinks but have not experienced any problems in that regard and actually the beverages taste better. The unit is very stylish and does not take up a lot of bench space and after use goes into standby mode automatically. Very impressed with this machine and would recommend it.sjm9977
Over the past few years we have had various coffee machine costing from 35 through to hundreds of pounds, but we ended up back with a kettle because of not having the option to dispense large volumes for cooking etc. But this left me unable to prepare a drink for myself as Im disabled and unable to lift a kettle even with a minimal amount of water inside. It has good power and I fell four 60 to 80 ft. spruce trees averaging 9 inch diameter. Then de limbing and bucking up a quarter of their volume into manageable chunks on one charge. Performed surprisingly well. Not having a pull cord, gasoline or dragging around an extension cord is a plus. Also nice and light. Cons: The fake kick back brake. The plastic dogs on the front housing is a joke. Either a poor quality chain (it will dull quickly) or the nuts tightening up the bar are a problem. Forever having to pull up chain slack. Some stretching can be expected but this was ridiculous. I'll try a better quality chain and see then. Lastly expect to go through more chain oil then other saws. Really drinks it up and there is no adjustment.Beak
Does what it is supposed to do for the homeowner. Walk out of the house through the garage, grab the Ryobi chainsaw and an extra 6ah battery and go to work instantly. I have 8 Ryobi 40 volt tools and a lot of 2.5ah and 3ah batteries that are fine and (2) each of 4ah and 5ah but by far my favorite are the (3) 6ah Ryobi batteries I purchased on EBAY they are the creme de la creme of long lasting batteries. I have been looking for one of the Ryobi 7.5ah or 9ah batteries but as of yet can't find one in my price range. Even if I never find either one of them these 6ah batteries will do the job just fine. With 2000+ reviews this product hardly needs another but here goes anyway. I've had this unit for 3 years, currently on the second chain (oregon, also sold at homedepot and better than the stock chain). It has been an outstanding buy. I use it to build structures for mountain bike trails, and also remove the odd deadfall. I've had it out on the trail at least 100 times in the 3 years, everything from routine cuts to holding it one-handed in my left hand above my head crazy stuff. I'm often cutting wood that's been sitting in dirt and fouling the chain, but with so few teeth to sharpen it hardly takes 3 minutes to get it back in shape. The saw barely weighs more than a hand tool! although I am not sure of the exact weight. But, I believe it is substantially lighter than the dewalt DCCS620B. Now that I know how awesome these little electric saws are, I'd certainly like to upgrade to the dewalt. Problem is, this ryobi is just too good, I can't get rid of it. I use a pair of 1.5 Ah batteries, which has generally been plenty for any one building session.J B

Bought the SWJ 599E Chain saw. Great little saw. Seemed to have plenty of power to do the job. Light weight, so not tiring to use for a longer period. Price was good at $40. Register the product and get and extra 90 days on an already great 2 yr warranty. One problem i did have was constant chain loosening. I expect some loosening from a new chain, but this went on for several hours. Maybe that's typical. Called SnowJoe for suggestions and that said they would send out a new chain. I never even asked. Their customer reviews for service were on e of the reason I bought this saw. Besides that, the price was cheaper than a Harbor Freight equivalent, and its only got a 90 day warranty and had terrible reviews!EddieL
I would have never dreamed I would ever purchase an Electric Chainsaw but I did. I have had surgery on my neck 3 times so lifting a big ole gas chainsaw would put me down physically in no time flat. After buying a battery powered pole saw that I was extremely pleased with I bought this as a light weight replacement for a gasoline powered trim saw. I was really disappointed when out of the box it cut really slow and bucked like a banshee. I inspected the chain and realized it had twice as much distance between the cutting teeth as my other saws as well as some anti kickback limiters. I realized that is why it was cutting slow and bucking so bad that it was causing pain to my body. I ground down the kickback limiters and shortened the depth gauges on the teeth and that helped tremendously with bucking as well as speeding up the cutting action. I am going to replace the factory chain with a commercial chain with twice as many teeth and see if that further limits the bucking action and improves the cutting action. The saw really needs to spin the blade faster in my opinion as well.Rocky
I've always hated gas powered chainsaws in the past. As they were ALWAYS hard to start, if you don't use it everyday. Battery powered tools never have that problem. They are so god, I purchased multiple yard tools (hedger, trimmer and lawn mower). While this saw may not have the shear power of a gas model, it did well for my purposes (cutting down small trees and bushes). This saw takes ease of ownership much further than others I have used. As adjusting the tightness of the chain itself, is a breeze. No covers to take off, no tools needed. Just a simple turn of a knob on the saw itself and the chain is adjusted in two seconds. Chainsaw worked perfectly for my landscaping needs. I removed several large bushes and small arborvitae trees with no issues. Saw is powerful and runs smooth (make sure you by bar and chain oil). Great light duty chainsaw. The carb will never get clogged and need to be cleaned. You'll never have to pull your arm off trying to start the thing. You'll never have to spill gas everywhere to be able to use the thing. It just quietly works every time you pull the trigger. It absolutely eats batteries though. 10-15 minutes of continuous cutting. You'll probably need two 4Ah batteries with the fast charger if you're planning on doing more than that.Joel
Great chainsaw for Camping, downed trees & trimming branches up. I used it to cut about 9" diameter & 40' tall tree Pine Tree. That had fallen on the my Cabin Deck with no Problem and still had more power (4Ah Battery) to spare. Don't use it one handed (too heavy for that) & hard to get your fingers off the starting triggers fast enough if it starts coming towards you! I bought this saw about a year ago.The saw has seen limited use and I am quite happy with it except for the chain tensioner. I have only had to sharpened the chain once but have had to replace it because the tensioner can no longer tighten the chain to keep it from jumping off. Ryobi needs to modify the tensioner for more travel so that chains do not have to be replaced long before they are worn out.RJretired

Unfortunately only a 120 V dual charger with a US style 2 pin plug was supplied. As the charger has no 110/220 V switch the electronics require modification which no doubt would void the warrantee. The other option is to use a step down transformer. It also requires an Australian style 2 pin plug. The unit which comes with two 5Ah batteries itself is excellent.kgksavage

I picked up the first 440 saw this past Sunday with a gallon of the husqvarna premix (50:1) and after filling up the gas tank and chain oil reservoir, and following the cold start instructions precisely, the saw simply refused to start. After numerous attempts, which included inspecting the spark plug gap and testing for visual spark, the results were the same. Next I tried draining the fuel path (lines, bulbs, reservoir) and using a different fuel source (precisely 1.00 gallon of 87 fuel mixed w/ 50:1 oil included mixture). I returned it to the store and got another brand new 440, went through the same setup steps, except this time I used the fuel mix I had prepared, and same results. Regardless of how many pulls I did (with choke on) this new one also refused to start. While also inspecting the plug there was some small traces of burn residual which I would suspect was from testing the engine during the manufacturing process. In any case, considering that both units came from the same store, I'm pretty sure both units probably also rolled off the assembly line together. In any case it's a disappointing experience, and a let down to go through the effort and still end up with the same failed results.i410hlr
The chainsaw arrived promptly minimal scratches good appearance and well packaged. I have owned operated worked/sharpened various saws as a 2+ acre homeowner. Never had one this big and powerful. I immediately inspected assembled the 460 and found it to be a 2019 model which at first alarmed me. Upon further inspection found minimal wear on drive and clutch no slop ,new 24"bar n chain and very clean appearance. Filled with fuel and bar chain oil-would run (3rd pull) but was slow to respond idle rough. Popped open the top cover and found clean used air cleaner with a small crack on one of the corners pulled plug found it fouled oily. Very good compression -couldn't keep finger on sparkplug hole when cranking later checked found 120#s+. Replaced plug with my Poulan 16" spare fired right up 2nd pull ran strong trigger pull gives a pistol like braaapp cut some 15inch mesquite like they were butter-Cadillac Style! Chain oiling system adjusted down one click. My take on this saw is buy it if you have some mechanical skills (evidently if you are buying such a serious saw) want quality but not so pricey top of the line saw. Cannot beat the price for a USED Husky saw and they promptly sent the new air cleaner and spark plug -very satisfied -ECnobunomad
I have had 2 of these saws, Both of which have issues with the fuel tank vent clogging. The first saw had about 5 hours on it. and the 2nd has about 7 hours. Both saws would run great under load for a few minutes, then fall on there face. they would idle fine and rev up fine, But under load they had no power. Take the fuel cap off and put it back on, They would run fine again for a few minutes. Other times they would develop a really high idle and to get the idle to come down you would again need to remove and reinstall the fuel cap. At first I thought there was a defect of some sort on the first saw, Because there is no reason a new saw with 5 hours on it should have an issue with the fuel tank vent. Exchanged it for a new saw and the new (2nd) saw has the same issue. I believe there is a poor design with the fuel tank vent on these saws, I was going to make a minor modification to the tank vent, But decided I will be retuning this saw and getting my money back. There is absolutely no reason a saw with 5 to 7 hours should have any issues like that. It really is a shame, When the saws ran properly they ran amazing. Very disappointing that the battery power only last 20 minutes and recharging the battery takes 5 hours! If you have a job that takes longer than 20 minutes, waiting 5 hours for a recharge is unacceptable. Solution would be to have two batteries so you can complete your job. Even though I’m 70 years old, I still do all my own tree work. I have a 28 inch gas chainsaw for the heavy work but it isn’t smart to use that on a ladder-too heavy. Keep your batteries charged and ready! Perfect for those who can't carry, or don't want something heavy to use for lighter jobs, and older people who need an easy to carry, easy to use blower. This is powerful enough for my 1/2 acre use with two speeds where lighter duty is all that is required. The low speed is great for areas where lower air flow is necessary but still removes the leaves and debris. When I use high-speed, the blower moves leaves and other debris with no problem and still affords me to have comfortable control at the higher speed. It's great, I've used it for over two years with over 100 full charges on the batteries. Power is good, comfortable. Zero problems so far. Weekly use at the sawmill cutting slabs into firewood. Dropped smaller trees with it. It's the go to chainsaw unless I need a longer bar or am going to be cutting a lot continuously. I just want Makita to come out with a 2 x 40V chainsaw.David
While the Makita saw has a nice balance and cuts smoothly, the two batteries that shipped with my saw did not last a month. I charged them maybe five times and then they would not hold a charge. Given the high markup, you're asked to pay for Makita quality, this should not happen. Those considering a Makita should also look hard at the warranty. You'll get a warranty that looks generous, but warranty terms say you'll have to pay shipping should you need to get a warranty repair. In my case, because my batteries died with less than a month's service, Makita did cover shipping costs for me to send my batteries back to the Houston repair center. For their part, the repair center does not acknowledge receiving your repair shipment, nor has anyone indicated to me when replacement batteries might be forthcoming.The Makita website is not at all customer-oriented.Thomas M.
Works as advertised, and it does have a lot of power. If you take your time and read the instructions which were a little hard at first, as it seemed the pictures were out of order, it will not take you very long to install the chain, oil it up, and put it to work. the batteries took about an hour to charge up and it was ready to go. The only CON is that I sat it down to take a break and it leaks oil out of the bottom, so do not sit it on patio furniture. There is nothing wrong, it is just puddling as it is its function to oil the chain when in use. There is an oil control screw (bottom) to control the flow, but I am having to much fun with it right now.phantomnautical

I bought this product for my boyfriend. He had a petrol chain saw before but it was too big and heavy for the jobs he wanted doing. This battery chainsaw did the job of cutting down a 15-20ft yew tree. He was well impressed at the speed and thickness of logs it cut. Replacement for tanaka (hitachi) petrol 18in chainsaw which died after 3 years light use. Makita has shorter bar, but cuts better. Much quieter than petrol (feel I dont need to wear ear defenders for occasional use).Impressed with how much can be cut on a charge and how quickly it can be recharged. First use was on fallen mature sycamore tree about 20 inches diam at thickest, cut through no problem. 7 or 8 cuts without flattening battery. I like tooless chain tensioning, works easily. I like translucent chainoil reservoir so i can see when needs filling. The saw has areas for improvement in its build – it's a bit fiddly and plastic for continual 'rough' work in woodlands – but once set up, it was remarkably able to cut through tough stuff without flinching. I cut 4 large baskets of 4-6 inch hardwood logs and cleared 10 fallen x 5 inch dia green trees from paths and the batteries were still going. Lightweight and relatively quiet, it is very quick and convenient to use around garden and near the house. If you have other Makita products using 18V batteries, at 120 or so it simply makes sense to have one. Be good if you were doing heavy decking work too. I'm surprised and pleased!robofearlswood

I was really excited about finally getting an extended saw, I have wanted one for years, but after one use I just hung it up in the garage never to use again. The saw is not made for left-hand use, the most dangerous part of the saw is the safety switch, very difficult to operate when you trying to hold all that weight and push a button and pull a trigger. I do not think this unit was tested the way people really use them. They say it weighs about 14 lbs., but put that on a pole 8 ft. out and it feels more like 75 lbs. This may be fine for a younger right-handed man, but for us older guys, you will want to be in pretty good shape. The saw did cut quickly and cleanly on the ten or so small branches that I cut. I will probably just use it for a handheld chain saw on the ground. The one picture is all I could cut before my shoulders gave out from the weight. Also, it is very hard to see exactly where you are cutting when you are looking up the pole behind the saw.
This saw works great. It was pretty easy to put together. Installing the chain took a few minutes. Learning how to attach the pole to the saw was easy and quick and intuitive. The saw is powerful and quiet. I used it to trim down a 12 foot tall hedge that had gotten out of control and to trim one of my palm trees. I had started to cut back the hedge with my gas chain saw but it was old and froze up on me after a few minutes. The electric powered Sun Joe cut just as easily. Before buying this saw I usually used a hand saw to trim my palm. This Sun Joe electric pole chain saw was so much easier! Of course it is slightly heavier than my manual saw, but you can more easily reach branches and more easily cut them. One small reminder is that you have to purchase a bottle of chain saw oil to put into the saw before first use (and then check and add more as needed after using the saw) – I thought a bottle of oil would come with the saw but it did not so I did have to run to the store to buy chain saw oil during set up before I could use it. Also the instructions remind you that you will have to check the chain regularly and tighten it up, especially after first use. My experience was exactly that – the chain did loosen up after using it for about 20 minutes. The chain is easy to tighten with a screwdriver. Overall I am really happy with my purchase.Dr AJ

So after hours and hours of research I chose the Oregon electric chainsaw. I did not want the hassle of gas saw maintenance and the ease of use attracted me. I followed the directions as written. I have had no issues with the saw so far. Ive had it for only one day and have used it to fell and cut apart 4 large trees, this thing is powerful and fast, So far Im very happy with the saw. And for the price you cant go wrong. The price I was quoted for felling just one tree was more than 3 times what I paid for it. So no matter what happens in the future, this saw has already paid for itself.David

It works well for cutting my firewood and linking trees and such. It doesn’t cut large chunks like my gas saw but does well enough producing decent shavings. It’s nice being able to grab and go if I have 5 minutes and I want to work on my wood pile. The chain also appears to stay for quite some time. I haven’t had to use the built in sharpener yet. Downsides are that it doesn’t take big chunks like a gas saw so it can take a little longer. It also is slower in harder woods but works excellently for soft woods. I pondered long and hard before buying this model. Initially kept looking at slightly cheaper ones but so pleased I went for the Makita. Handles very easily, cuts through wood like butter. I’ve used it on four separate occasions now and it feels balanced and effortless. Very simple to fit the chain, cable length at 10m is ideal. Would definitely recommend. Don't waste your money on any other electric chainsaw; I've had several. The last one I bought on the strength of being a quality brand name. It was just a year old when the chain hit a nail and instead of the chain breaking, both the drive sprocket and the main drive gear wheel shattered, being grey cast iron. This one looks properly sorted when it comes to design and quality. It may (or may not) be the most expensive, but I am impressed. two previous saws failed on the so called chain adjusters, which fell to pieces, and/or the tension changed when tightened; this Makita has the same pattern of tool-less operation as my small petrol chain saw which has had for years, and has never given trouble. Io ho un tagliasiepi che ha la stessa batteria da 18V ma da 4.0 A/h. Quindi adesso ne ho 2 a disposizione. Con 130 euro forse potevano dare in dotazione la batteria da 4.0 A/h invece che da 2.0 A/h..Nell'insieme direi soddisfatto dell'acquisto. Agrieuro mi ha dato in regalo una bandana per il sole, le cuffie per il rumore e un paio di occhiali di protezione Cosa non ti è piaciuto: Il prezzo poteva essere leggermente piu basso, tipo 110-120 euro e con batteria da 4.0 A/h invece che da 2.0 A/h. Bought this yesterday. Easy to assemble. Put it through 2 x 45 min serious cutting cycles. Felled and limbed a 12 inch tree. The 2- 18 V Batteries (36 volt model requires the 2 batteries) recharge FAST , 45 min – 1hr to recharge, it came with the fast DUAL charge! Spare set of new batteries are expensive, nearly 200$ online. Doesn't come with a file??? Or oil recommendations in the instructions? Other than price, It compares well to a small 25 CC saw.MrsStephn

I needed a chainsaw that would start immediately and keep running. And if I had to stop cutting, it would start again immediately. Recently I have experienced enough weakness in my arm strength that to start a chainsaw was an ordeal, and I typically use a saw only 2-4 days out of the year. This saw meets these parameters. I had to install an outlet in my back lot and to invest in 50 feet of #10 cable, but the convenience of pushing a button to start this saw makes the wiring requirement seem trivial. The saw weighs about as much as my gas-powered one, and I find you can not "hog" it through a big trunk, but when I slowed my pace, I quite easily felled an oak tree with a 20 inch diameter. This is a good investment in a quality tool!sawman007
