When we made the decision to renovate/update our living room, there were 2 things I was looking for in an electric fireplace: 1. Modern – we wanted something that was different that before, and wanted the linear look. We opted not to purchase the trim kit (although you couldn’t go wrong there either) and absolutely love how it turned out. 2. Realistic Flames – I didn’t realize how many generic/fake looking options there are. After doing enough research to write a syllabus on electric fireplaces, we went with the Dimplex Ignite XLF50, and couldn’t have made a better choice. Installation was fairly simple, and the finished product and look turned out better than we ever could’ve imagined, as evidenced by the number of people who can’t believe it’s not gas. I don’t typically write reviews, but trust me when I say that if I could give more than 5-Stars I definitely would! I got an XLF60 a year ago and LOVE IT! Everyone that has come to my house wants one. It is not loud, even on the highest heat setting, as the other reviewer posted. In fact, it is so quiet that if I do not have the lights on I have almost forgot to turn it off before leaving the house. Yes, the heater can be ran with no lights. There are several heat settings, as well as, multiple color options and brightness levels, which are a gorgeous ambiance especially at night with the lights off. The heat comes out from the top of the unit. The unit itself does not get hot so if you place yours lower to the ground like I did mine it will not burn a child or animal. My dogs love laying in front of mine when the season turns cold. I also ran mine alot last winter and it did not make my electric bill skyrocket either. It was also fairly easy to assemble and install. I say fairly easy to assemble because my husband and I were a little confused at first how to install the glass mirror that goes on the inside but once we figured out you have to unscrew and remove the entire pre-assembled bar at the top the assembly took maybe 10 minutes after that. We are really enjoying our electric fireplace. The installation process was very easy. The rough-in specs were accurate and the fireplace mounted with ease. Installing the glass was simple – only two screws. The fireplace puts out a fair amount of heat – not going to heat the entire room – but you can certainly feel the heat. I’ve got a 4 year old and 2 year old and my primary concern was the heating element. The front of the fireplace does not get extremely hot and is safe to the touch. Aesthetically, it is very pretty and my kids enjoy the “flames” change colors. It’s exceeded our expectations!Daniel G.
This looks great. I will say that I’m disappointed that it has a hum when it is flame only. I expected it to sound like a space heater when the heat was on, but it’s too noisy for my liking in general. Also bought a Dimplex Sierra to compare—the Dimplex made no noise when the flame alone was on. The Dimplex also had a larger heating element (2 inches longer than the TS) and put out more heat. Ultimately I got outvoted by my husband who liked the size of this one better, but I do wish it was quieter.Tasha J.
First of all the shipping was amazing and only a few days. Customer service is wonderful. We got it about 3 days after ordering. I had a “honey I have an idea” moment and just ran with it. I love the way it turned out and made our new house become a home to us. The only thing is we had an old one in a furniture piece that had a thermostat. That was nice so it would shut off when it reached a certain temp. But this one is better quality and style. I love that you can do either the crystals or log. The bookcases are Billy from ikea with oxberg doors. One recommendation is to find an electrician to run a dedicated line. The amp draw is 11+. The fireplace only came with the rocks. I have made several attempts to contact RWFlame and they completely refuse to respond. I love it! I chose the 42 inch vs the 50 inch and I’m glad I did. It’s the perfect size. Installation was pretty easy once I figured it out (the instructions aren’t super clear, so read them carefully before install). I love that it can be recessed completely into the cabinetry. One thing that would be nice is if they added some crackling fire sound effects, just to add to the ambience. This was a great value for the price.Cory H.

I did a lot of research when shopping for an affordable electric fireplace. The Sierra line had it all – multiple options for the fire bed all included (logs, crystals, or rocks), simple mounting method for both wall or recessed, disappearing pushbuttons, and an easy to replace and secure glass cover. I am in awe of this fireplace. I can say it has the best features. I have been using for a few weeks. It is beautiful and modern. It heats one of my biggest rooms in my home. It includes interchangeable glass rocks, white stone pebbles, and a plastic or fiberglass fire log. It can be changed to form different mode displays. It also has beautiful led lights that can also be changed depending on mood or personal preference. It has touchscreen display. It also comes with a remote. I have been using as table top. Appearance exceeded expectations once desired settings chosen. We selected this fireplace partly as there are 5 “flame speeds” – many electric fires have an unrealistic “fast” speed. This model looks much better with its slower speed. Adding large glass rocks as well as driftwood surprised us adding more realism. Be prepared to need a good carpenter to construct the frame and facing. This is NOT a simple “hang it on the wall unit”. The fireplace is exactly as advertised. I built a special wall with nickel lap siding and direct wired it to a switch. We have a new home and converted the dinning room into a sitting room. I had an electric fireplace insert in our downstairs game room in our previous house which I installed and actually used to take the chill out of the 1200 square foot room. However that was a 220 volt insert rated to do just that. We knew when we purchased this fireplace that since it is only 120 volt that it would not produce much heat and that was not the intent of purchasing this unit. It was just for accenting the room which it does nicely. We will never attempt to provide heat with this unit and that’s ok. Although the flames are not 100 percent realistic there are enough options built into this unit to make it look good, especially for the price point. The included crystals, logs and drift wood is also a good value and combined with the different flame and fire bed options I’m sure you will be happy. Since I built out a wall specifically for this unit I waited until I received it and took my own measurements for the opening which I made about a 1/4 inch larger. The only reason I removed one star from the rating is the way the customer service wants you to receive the fireplace. We got an email and then a phone call stating that we had to inspect the package and if there was any damage to the box we were to take a picture and refuse the delivery. I don’t know about everyone else but we don’t set by the door waiting for the delivery person and most of the time our packages are just left at the door. I explained that to the customer service rep. Also I asked what about if the box looked good and the fireplace was damaged anyway inside. She said that we should sign the delivery receipt and write on it that we reserve the right to refuse it after we open the package. We were only given I think 24 hours to do all this. That whole process was going overboard and a complete turn off for us.John G.
Just Installed my fireplace hardwired in a built in enclosure without issues. The unit works great however the fan is a little louder than I had hoped but nothing crazy. The system looks awesome and heats the 20×20 area without issues. Only had system for a couple of weeks now so I can’t comment on reliability. Touchstone was awesome to deal with and even offered the system at a discounted price. The unit arrived as stated on a pallet and double boxed. We have a low two-side wood-burning fireplace we did not want to use due to expensive heat loss and we did not need extra heat., So we plugged the chimney with a DIY chimney pillow and got the slim line elite 80042 which closely matches the log-side opening of the fireplace and installed it in front with an oak surround on the sides and top. Well I would love to rate my experience using my fireplace if I ever received it. It’s been close to a month and no fireplace. The company Central freight lines has failed to deliver this fireplace three times. I’ve taken off of work three times to receive this fireplace and I’ve lost more money than the fireplace has cost waiting for it to show up. I called modern blaze yesterday and they were supposed to call me back letting me know after they spoke to their shipping company and the manufacture when I would get my fireplace. Purchased the Modern Flames Spectrum Slimline 50'' Wall Mount / Recessed Linear Electric Fireplace. Unfortunately after approximately two weeks of use, the unit inadvertently turns on by itself. Contacted the company and they said this was unusual. Thought it could be the main control panel or triggered by other device signals in the house. They sent me a replacement control panel which requires me having to take the unit apart and install the new panel. We love our fireplace, the Dynasty Harmony BEF- 57”. It was easy to install and even easier to operate, energy efficient and has a variety of options for customizing the look. In addition to controls hidden on the front of the fireplace, the Harmony BEF also comes with a remote control. The remote controls all of the features including the 3 different Flame Colors and 13 different Bed Color Options! Our favorite choice is the simple orange flame with the bed colors off, which we think provides the most realistic look. It also has a heater which is really nice on chilly days! The heater is front facing, which means you do not need to add a vent when installing! This heater is so luxurious.It looks like a built-in fireplace without the trouble of worrying about a chimney or all for the ashes involved in making a real fire. It has three different settings for the heater. I really like how it has an eco setting as well. It is so beautiful it gives heat and automatically gives the look of a cozy mantle.it has the media stand too which is a bonus. It was like a package deal they can really give a room a facelift. The Lifesmart fireplace is Beautiful! First putting it together was simple! All you need is a screwdriver to open the glass from to remove the styrofoam packing. To assemble the shelf it basically came with built-in tools to do its assembly. It took all of 5 minutes and only one person. Once it was assembled all I had to do was plug it in to make it work and put batteries in the remote. I have put this beautiful fireplace/tv stand in my dining room. At this time we are choosing not to put a TV on it because our TV sound went out. We will eventually put a TV on it but for now, we are enjoying just having the beauty of the glow of the fire instead of the glow of the TV. The fireplace warms our fairly large room within about 20 minutes and the heat goes out into the rest of the house. it has been nice not having to run the heater that uses gas. The LifeSmart 60 Inch Media Fireplace came to me on a freight truck. It arrived fully assembled, which was a huge relief. The faux brick exterior is more of a tan color, rather than the white in the online photo. The raised shelf that is meant for a TV seems thin and not very well supported. I am not sure I would put a 60 inch TV on it. We have enjoyed the warmth this fireplace puts out. It really does heat up a large room. I also like the different flame display options, and the remote control makes it easy to turn off an on from my couch.SarahJane

I like the looks of the fireplace when its running. Looks pretty realistic for an electric fireplace. Installed pretty easily. Heat output is pretty good. But, it makes a lot of noise when running. Kind of a droning buzzing vibration noise. If I turn up the TV it kind of drowns it out, but if I just want to sit and read a book the noise is pretty annoying to the point of needing to turn it off. My in-laws live with me and my MIL could freeze on the Sahara dessert. Despite keeping the house at 73 during the winter, the room where they sit and watch TV can be a bit cool for them. We initially looked at getting an entirely new TV Console but I thought if we could find an insert that would fit their current one, we should do that instead. After looking around here, I found one that would fit perfectly! I ordered it on a Sunday and had it Friday. Installed it that night because the wife wanted it so. The lights (blue, red, amber) are just kind of a gimmick and don't do anything that makes us go 'wow'. The fan could be about twice as powerful as it is. This is really the ONLY complaint that the MIL offered up. If we do turn it on early enough in the morning and have the temp set at 78, she'll not say a word. They run this all…day….long. Their room does heat up hotter than the rest of the house so it does work. It does help I convinced them to let me turn on the ceiling fan blowing up which has helped as well. (They never like the ceiling fan on.) Would I recommend this? Yes I would. I would suggest that in future models, the fan be more powerful though.Paul
I first experienced Dimplex electric fireplace in my travel trailer! We love it-looks good, quiet and puts out 1500 watts of heat if you want heat. Now, I bought one for a 'dead corner' in our home living room. I am building oak cabinet around the Dimplex firebox to match our other mission style furniture. The 1500 watts of thermostatically controlled heat will heat a small room or quickly take the winter chill off of a larger room. Love this insert. We have added an antique mantle and fireplace surround to what once was a blank wall (still missing our final arch pieces in the attached photo). I was worried that the insert would stick out too much, given that there is no actual fireplace hole, but it works great and most importantly looks great! I received our fireplace and mat packaged very well without any damage. The Fireplace Store had the best price for the log set and the mat. The set up took minutes! I love the look of the fireplace and have it on most evenings because it looks so pretty. If I have something near the fireplace, I catch myself thinking I better move it before it gets too hot and then remember there is no heat. I put my phone in the fireplace with a You Tube video of a crackling fireplace and it is absolutely realistic. The heater does eventually heat up a room but does not have a huge output of heat. If I sit in front of the fireplace I can feel the heat but maybe because we have a big old house, it doesn't make too much of a dent unless its on for a couple hours. Even then, it warms the room a couple of degrees; enough to keep the heat off and make the third floor rooms cold. (we live on the 2nd and 3rd floors) The ring you see from the mirrored glass is not a big deal to me because the flame is so realistic. You'll get used to it. When the lights are out at night, I don't always notice it. Finally, I happened to have a small set of ceramic logs that I bought for a gas fire pit. I brought them inside along with some pine cones and gently placed them to fit in this fireplace. They look great! After reading some of these reviews I decided to write this positive review. I really enjoy this fireplace after having it installed by a professional last year. It has operated as I expected and exceeded my expectations on looks as well as relaxing to look as well as warming up the room. If I don’t want the warmth I just leave the blower off. The energy use is not even noticeable on my bill. I guess if I were to choose one minor negative it would be when the fireplace is off. At that time you can see the back of it which to me does not look real; but others tell me it still looks good. I would purchase this again in a heartbeat!
Fireplace is perfectly fine. Flames are realistic enough. Looks great recessed into a rock wall. We had the choice between buying it at a local store for $200 more and decided to save money. Do not waste your money on the separate crackle sound machine, unless the sound of a forest fire is relaxing to you.Learned my lesson

I was originally hesitant due to the lack of reviews. but this has been a great product. size is as expected. it is thick but that's also expected as the dimensions were displayed, but because of the size, it doesn't look too protrusive. colour is good, comes with 3 different types of internal decorations. mounting was simple, product is fairly light once the front glass panel is removed, I recommend working with a friend. the stand is pretty ugly, and I would just ditch that idea and mount the fireplace on the wall. it blows hot air upwards so it cannot be mounted into the wall, the heat exhaust is not at the front which gives it a clean look. The heating feature is really just an add-on, I don't really depended on this to heat the house. there are thinner models out there, but if you want a large, clean looking fireplace at a great price. go for this one. oh, delivery with best buy is pretty good too. and they also price adjusted for me when item went on sale. Overall the experience is great.David

I recently purchased the Dimplex Opti-myst after having both woodburning and gas fireplaces in the past. After moving to Florida and purchasing a home with a woodburner, I was reluctant to use my existing fireplace due to the mess it would create and not really a need for additional heat. I've been a skeptic regarding electric fireplaces, finding them to look too artificial for my consideration. The "flame" created with the Opti-myst though is so realistic that it's indistinguishable from the real thing! The reason for my 4 star review is twofold. 1) the "flame" height is not adjustable and 2) the log set is a little tricky to configure. The logs each plug into separate wires and sit on the grate loosely. Velcro tabs are included, but are of little use in stabliizing the logs. That being said, I would still highly recommend the Dimplex Opti-myst 28" log set. The logs, flame and embers are quite realistic and totally worth the price. This is especially the case for those wanting the ambiance and function of an existing fireplace, but not wanting the mess or the heat involved with the real thing.Patricia
My 1850s row house has a gorgeous decorative fireplace, but to install a gas log would involve $1000s to line the chimney and run a gas line through the building. Not worth it. This unit provides a beautiful, realistic flame effect and fits perfectly in my fireplace (actual width of unit is 27"). My only suggestion is for Dimplex to provide better Velcro-type fasteners. I purchased some larger ones to add to the tiny dots they supply which tend not to line up or stick well. Better instructions with larger images of critical steps would also help.Carol
Our set got here in 2 days in perfect condition. It is perfect for our new fireplace project. I was hoping for more flames, but it is still much more realistic than typical electric fireplaces. It's very relaxing to watch the smoke too. The only thing I was disappointed about was the lack of sound/heat. For what you get, it's pretty pricey. So far, I would say the set is of good quality. I would like to suggest slightly bigger logs or smaller spaces in the grate so the logs don't slip between them. The velcro pieces intended to hold them in place are not enough. I definitely don't mind filling it with water. It's very easy to just slide the set forward and to one side, then remove the tank without moving any logs! Overall, I am pleased!Lisa

We just installed this in a feature wall in our basement. Because it’s rated as a commercial fireplace it’s very low profile and has an industrial look which is what we wanted. It was easy to install as we were building a pallet feature wall and installed it before the wall was completed. The only surprise we got is that this fireplace is not 60” wide as stated as it measures 65”. This was not a problem for us. It came with 3 or 4 fake logs but only one small bag of crystals. I did not use these items as I filled the bed with beach stones, sea glass and shells. There are so many colour options for the flames and fire bed which are controlled separately. The heat vent is the entire width at the top of the unit. We are very pleased with this purchase.Pallet project manager

Overall my family and I enjoy this electric fireplace. I think it’s a nice electric fireplace for the price point. We really wanted a mesh screen and this is half the cost of the other mesh screen fireplace. There’s a couple cosmetic blemishes that you can see close up, but from far away it looks great. We have a large living room/dining area and the heater warms it up quickly. Lately there’s been a ticking noise coming from the backside of it. It doesn’t happen every time it’s on. I just hope it doesn’t get louder.HiTeenie
Easy to install but disappointed that the face/ mesh screen doesn't hide the bottom of your wall framing – lots of coverage on the sides and the top (total inserted mine in the wall). I ended up just hanging it with 6 industrial screws. Throws okay heat and the remote works great. The buttons on the unit are a lil finicky but we always use the remote.Kevin
