Getting older has not allowed me to move past my problematic skin. For some reason, my pores get congested despite the extra care I give my skin. In fact, I am going through a phase where they are congested more than usual. Plus, my skin can turn red and sensitive with rosacea bumps without warning despite attention to what I eat and cleansing thoroughly and treating and hydrating carefully. I take care not to over-cleanse (mindful of water temp and stick with all non-fragrance products) or over-exfoliate or pile on too many active ingredients. Still, I was having issues getting things under control. I had tried the 4%BHA foam to gel serum that was discontinued and it was just OK. So I didn't jump on the reformulated version. I should have! I ordered the Advanced Pore-Refining Treatment 4% BHA and Wow! It cleared my congested pores quickly. Within 24 hours I noticed a difference and after using 2X a day, for a few more days, the angry little bumps and congested pores, mostly on the chin and around my mouth, started to disappear, the texture improved, and it did not dry out my skin. The antioxidants make a huge difference, too. My skin has a nice healthy, rosy glow, requiring much less makeup. It's smoother, softer, more even-toned, and making it part of my regular routine has kept the pores clear and they appear tighter. I am 52 y/o and have combo/oily skin. I no longer have break outs (Thank God), but I have blackheads and clogged pores on my nose, forehead, and chin. I've used the PC 2% for a couple of years and have been happy with the results, but I wanted to try a more powerful BHA and see what the results look like. I've tried the product for a week at night and the results have been positive so far. I definitely see an improvement in my pores and my skin looks more radiant the next morning. What don't I like? The texture. To me, it's thick and greasy feeling. I'm stunned by the number of reviews from people with oily skin that rave about this product and the texture. I could never use this product in the morning. The greasy feels diminishes over time and my skin feels "normal" after about a half hour or so. The other thing I don't love is the container. This product is gold. I've struggled with a lot more acne than I ever had before after moving to a humid climate. My pores were always congested, my face would have been a worthy investment for an oil baron, my forehead was covered in tiny bumps, and I had at least one new whitehead every week in addition to an increase in standard flare ups. It was a nightmare. I've been trying to get my skin back to normal for months since then, but between the new sweat, stress, and layers of concealer and powder every day, my skin just could not get a break. Enter Paula's Choice BHA! I purchased the 4% while a promotion was running and also got a travel sized 2% BHA to try as well. I tried the 4% first. I put a thin layer over my entire face (for me that's four pumps – note that a pump is not the same as a dropper-full) before bed and washed it off the next morning. And voila! I saw instant results! What I love about Paula Begoun's skincare range is firstly: the transparency. An explanation is given for each ingredient so you know exactly what you're putting onto/into your skin. Secondly there's ample opportunity to trial the products via a sample size on the website. Not to mention a good returns policy. The 2% BHA lotion was one of the products that I invested in full size (along with a bunch of samples) and funnily enough was my least favorite out of everything I ordered. It's not that it broke me out or disagreed with me in any way, it just didn't do much for me. Even after the first 3 weeks of usage, gradually built up to twice daily applications, my skin still looked exactly the same as before I started using it. Pores, blemishes, oiliness, you name it…zero difference! It's unfortunate, as I skipped the option of a sample pack, thinking it wouldn't be enough product to give it a fair try. I was somehow convinced this 1 bottle would be the answer to all my skincare woes (not entirely sure what lead me to believe that!). The good: it wasn't harsh on my skin like many BHA products can be, and the application was well controlled, never too much or too little. I don't normally post reviews, but when I see something actually make improvements to my skin I've gotta share my experience because I know there's so much BS in products these days. But Paulas Choice 2% for the win! I got a small sample bottle for $10. I read the reviews and was a little nervous to do it everyday because of what people were saying…but that wasn't my experience. I used it everyday, morning & night. I shook the bottle 3 times into my hand and smoothed it over my entire face. I was using the cotton pads at first, and just doing on the areas that needed it but then I ran out of the pads so I put it in my hands and honestly, it worked way better when I was just using my hands to spread it because it seemed to soak into my face better. I saw people say that their face would get irritated by using it everyday and the way to use it correctly and see results was to use it once a week… so I just wanted to see how my face would react the next day but nothing felt bad and I decided to do it again in the morning. I loved how it felt on my skin, and I only had 1 flare up and that was a week later May 26-27th (Photos Included) The pimple went away quickly and I still decided to put the product on my face Night & Day. I saw people say it isn't good for sun exposure so not to use it during the day, but I am staying home at the moment so I don't go outside as often, maybe 20 mins a day. So I took that caution with a grain of salt. If you go outside more, maybe you should listen to that warning lol. I am not a product expert of how to use it correctly, all I know is I used it night and day and the hyperpigmentation/dark spots on my forehead have really toned down and my skin looks a lot more smooth/brighter which I love. I always feel like I'm glowing and it feels spa like when I put it on, it's got a nice relaxing smell and a nice soothing texture to it that isn't too oily. This is my tried and true holy grail exfoliator. No matter what I try, I always come back to this one. I have emptied soooo many bottles of this. I have very sensitive, combination (super dry/normal in the winter & oily/normal in the summer but I can still use this product all year around despite my skin type) and acne prone skin. I have to say that I hated this product the very first time I tried it–it stung my skin. It was to the point where I ran into the bathroom to wash it off my face after just a few mins of applying it. I really tried to like the product but the sting was too painful and the SMELL of this is absolutely atrocious. The product smells like acetone to me and I probably gagged in about 20 different languages when I put it on my face for the first time (although I would rather it smell disgusting than have them add a ton fragrance to the product. My skin doesn't do will with heavy fragrances). I left this on my vanity for a few months before I picked it up again–I just didn't want to waste my money. Someone told me to dilute the product with water on a cotton pad–I tried it and it didn't sting my face nearly as bad but still some intense tingling going on. But the next morning, I noticed how soft and rejuvenated my skin looked and felt. I continued to use it once a week and I fell in love with the product and slowly stopped diluting it as much as my skin got used to it. After 4-5 years of using this religiously 2-3 times a week, I still feel tingling on my skin when I use it but I've gotten use to the feeling and the horrible smell because the results are worth it. I have incredibly incredibly oily skin. Like I just get slick by about halfway through the day. It's worse than anyone else I've met. Somehow this miracle product actually truly reduces my oil production? Literally even my hair near my face gets way less greasy, and I don't have to wash my hair every day now. I really never thought a product would improve this quality of my skin, I had given up hope. I bought this product to diminish the appearance of pores. I think it improved my skin texture, but can't quite say it made my pores appear smaller / less clogged to be honest. However I will absolutely be keeping it around for the reduction in oiliness. I think I also had some purging at the beginning as I had some strange, very under the skin pimples my first week or so of using this every other day. I love this product so much! I can see why it's a cult classic. I prefer it in this gel formula, I find it easier to apply and feels nice to apply with this texture on my fingertips. I've noticed huge changes in my skin when I use this. My skin looks clearer and feels much softer. The skin texture issues I was having before have gone away. I definitely recommend this to anyone! I tried every astringent, mask, pore strip, expensive pore vacuum, steamer and acne wash known to man. I could never clear white heads and black heads on chin and all over nose. I have (genetic) huge pores on my nose . They have terrible white heads. I had to use painful needle sharp tools to scrape them off leaving my nose bloody and swollen. They were so bad , if I smushed my nose down a little or side to side they would all pour out by the dozens. No matter how clean i kept my face , the disgusting white heads stayed. I gave up till I took a chance on this after researching products on google . The white heads disappeared in 3 to 4 days of initial use. I smush my nose to look for them and nothing is there! It also works as a zit treatment and even fades the dark spots from my terrible blemishes that used to stay on my face for a month after i had a zit Warning though! It says not to use with retinol products at same time. Also!! You have to use it religiously for results!! Once in morning and once before bed! I don't personally use over entire face . I only spot treated problem zones. If I forget to use it even one day the white heads will return little by little. So if anyone says this doesn't work, I would question their consistency of using it because you cant take a break and expect the pores to stay clear. Also. If you cake make up on every day, your results might not be as good as mine or others. I stopped using foundation and use tinted moisturizer and powder . A lot of days , I dont wear anything but moisturizer. So, this probably helps the process and I have less stuff clogging my pores. I must say, free samples are great but when it comes to beauty products, often there just isn't enough of the product to use it long enough and consistently enough to see results. Which was the case for this product. I love products that take on blemishes and I happen to be dealing with an abundance of blackheads on my beautiful face (cruddy weather, catching every cold virus that rolls around and allergies maybe?). I appreciated that this was a serum and therefore an addition to my regular, but always changing, daily regimen of beauty products, instead of a replacement for something. The directions suggest 1-2 drops and oddly enough I think a dropper-type top would be a fitting improvement the company could make, because every time I ended up with more then that in my hand. This didn't help the whole "not-enough-product-in-sample" dilemma… The serum goes on fine, isn't too greasy. No tingling (and slightly satisfying) feeling like you might get with other blemish fighters. It didn't disrupt my routine because it was quickly absorbed into my skin so I was able to move on to the next thing right away. Since I knew I probably wasn't going to witness much improvement or change with the sample I decided to do some light research on the star of this product: Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA). This sucked me into a black hole, which is the internet, and I learned more about the science behind our pores and BHA then anyone would truly want to.. I found a great video that made the connection between BHA and SA. DID you know our pores have tiny hairs in them that shed regularly?.. Now these hairs contribute to the gunk that fill our pores and BHA is said to act like drain-o for them. BHA Loves oil. And there's tons of research to back up the benefits, so the Inkey List might be on to something here. I understand why this is so underrated in the skincare community. Yes, it has an unpleasant smell (it dissipates fairly quickly though). And yes, if the packaging was the one with the pump application would've been better. But, and there's a big one, this actually works. I was looking for something to replace the DE Framboos in my daily routine. I have oily-sensitive skin, so I need BHA to tackle breakouts, and I can't use just about anything. I've been using this every morning for about a week and a half and it just works – breakouts stopped, active ones greatly reduced. This has been a game changer for me. I’ve always suffered with acne & have tried so many different products & brands. I am at the end of my second bottle & have purchased 2 more. This stuff is magical I think, I have hyper sensitive skin but it doesn't get irritated in the slightest with this. I've found it helps exfoliate my skin gently and helps with dry skin. I've also noticed since starting this that my blackheads aren't as noticeable and my skin just looks and feels smoother in general. I had a bit of tingling the first time I used it but only once and no signs of irritation at all since. I feel like this has really helped the chronic dry patches I had on my eyebrows that I just couldn't get rid of, now they are barely noticeable after using this every evening.Hannah C
This is a holy grail product that answers to all of your exfoliation needs with both AHA and BHA acids. It makes everything so much easier; with this product you don't have to use e.g. glycolic acid and salicylic acid treatments on different nights. In spite of being quite strong, my skin loves this and isn't irritated by it. After using this in the evening, my skin looks amazing in the morning. I probably wouldn't recommend this people who are just getting into exfoliating acids, but using this product (which has been formulated and tested with both AHA and BHA) would likely be much better than using two different products with AHA and BHA in the same routine. If you're a beginner, try either a 5% lactic acid, 10% mandelic acid, 0,5-2% salicylic acid or something like 4% glycolic acid and work your way up before using this one. I bought this because I've been through a few bottles of the Paula's Choice 2% BHA and wanted to find something same-same-but-different. So far, I strongly prefer this!! My least favorite thing about the PC product is how much of a residue there is, I'd compare the feeling to that of a body dry oil. It's so present that my normal-dry skin can forgo moisturizer afterwards in the summertime. The Farmacy product is just like a standard watery toner, so there's absolutely zero residue, which I LOVE. It also smells really nice (kind of like a herbal papaya? but not exactly sweet/fruity) even though it doesn't have added fragrance. As for effects, I wasn't sure this product was actually doing anything until a couple of days ago where I laid off for a few days in preparation for a once-in-a-while AHA/BHA mask. Let's just say it was obvious that the product was keeping sebaceous filaments and blackheads at bay. Since resuming using it again, they're gone again. My one problem with this product is that it is so watery that a cotton pad is really kind of necessary, and I'm someone who likes to use my hands for all of my skincare steps so that I don't waste product. As such, I feel like I'm going through the bottle rather fast. To mitigate this I've been using the cotton pad on my chest, KP areas, and even behind my ears so that it goes as far as possible. This toner has changed my skin. I have bought it 3 or 4 times now and I can safely say it has improved my skin a lot. I used to have lots of little bumps all over my forehead and this has cleared most of them away. The toner is quite expensive so I prefer to tap it directly onto my skin and rub it in rather than waste it on a cotton pad. I actually use another less expensive toner first and put that on a cotton pad and to remove any debris, then I use this on top so it can really sink into the skin. I think this toner works really well because this brand is doesn't add nasty chemicals into their formulas. It also smells lovely and the packing is gorgeous. I always feel good when I used it. I forgot to get the moisturizer which is annoying. But I love the wash and the night and day serums. The Face wash has a weird texture like there's little pieces of gel in the product but it's a good feeling when applied and scrubbed in. The serums are easy to use and you don't need alot. The price is great and I love that I can do everything I need in 3 steps. My face is smoothing out and now I only deal with hormonal acne. I love what these products messages and charities are too! I've been using this serum a few times per week alongside my other treatments from Selfless By Hyram. I have easily sensitised skin that is also quite breakout-prone and this has been a great addition to my routine. It has all the benefits of salicylic acid that my skin needs but in a super gentle formula that is not stripping my skin. The texture itself is quite unusual and almost feels like a lightweight oil. It sinks in really easily and is helping to keep some of my breakouts away. I am very impressed so far.

I recently purchased this to replace my main PS2 Quad that came with the Yoke System – that original one has now failed after some good years of use. The new one which is now no longer Saitek but Logitech, is not of the same quality as the original Saitek version. It works and I now have two throttle quads for multi-engined use, but the newer Logitech one is much more loose on the levers and very much more plasticy. I like Good Molecules, but this was a NO for me for two reasons. 1. Although I like the pharmaceutical-esque packaging that this (and the eye gel) come in, the pressure causes it continuously ooze out. I have to store these products upside down until I use about 1/4 so that I'm not wasting product. 2. The smell! Oh my goodness. I see that another reviewer commented on the same thing. I'm not sensitive to smells and I understand that sometimes the we smell the packaging and not necessarily the product, itself. But this was so bad (sour/molded bread) that I had to return it. I use this cream in my nightly routine. Every time I have an irritated red pimple, after using this, I'll wake up with it completely risen to the surface as a whitehead, ready to pop lol. I did find that I had a purging stage a few days into starting this product. I've always been scared of skin purging, but tbh, I did not mind because everything healed so quickly that I couldn't be too upset about it. This product makes my pimples heal within a day. I use it with the Hero Cosmetics Post Blemish Recovery Cream ($12.99) which helps prevent scarring! Might have something to do with fast recovery. I love this stuff. I have suffered from acne and blackheads as long as I can remember and have spent boatloads of money on products. I started using this as part of my morning and night routine about a month ago (Cetaphil cleanser, GM brightening toner, GM hyaluronic acid). At first I was a little freaked out because after my first use I woke up the next morning with some bumps and irritated skin, but that is common when starting a new product. I did a little research and figured out my skin was purging (not breaking out and not having an allergic reaction). I hadn't used a leave on exfoliant in a while so my skin had a lot of gunk to get rid of. I continued using this morning and night for about a week and my skin cleared up really nicely. I now use this only at night on my T-zone where I am most prone to blackheads and enlarged pores. The key is to use it consistently. The texture also feels really great on your skin and is easy to layer with other products. Smell isn't the best but that isn't a big deal to me. I have acne and get new breakouts but I also have scarring so old acne scars and this lotion works best for my skin. I use this with the bha exfoliant liquid and it does wonders! The lotion itself does not feel greasy or leave that oily looking effect but instead it sits very well on the skin. If your hesitant on whether to buy it or not I say just go for it. I person don't have any cons but we all have different skin types mine being combination and quite sensitive but I'm only saying get it because if there are any others in the same acne curse situation as me then I hope you see the light of day! I LOVE this stuff! I am 22 years old and have fairly normal skin except in my tzone where I can be oily and have large pores. A Sephora employee suggested this to me and I noticed a difference the first time using it within minutes! This serum has been fantastic for my combination skin. It goes on really well does not feel tacky or greasy and after a few weeks my skin is feeling smoother and looking brighter. This is a fantastic strength of salicylic acid for anyone who has sensitive skin. The results take a little longer to see when compared to a higher strength SA, but you will see results while maintaining your skin’s protective barrier. This is the fourth product I've tried from Cos De Baha and they've all been effective and affordable. This BHA has a solid ingredient list. Its not irritating (if used as directed), has effective percentages of both actives, and has some moisturizing/hydrating ingredients to boot. It definitely works on blemishes and blackheads. I use it a few times a week alternating with a Vitamin C serum. I experienced some purging at first but my skin is quite clear now and I never had any peeling or irritation. So I didn't use this treatment every night. I ended up making it an every-other-night or every-two-nights routine. It's very smooth and easy to rub into your skin. It says it takes 8 weeks to see results (brighter skin, reduced signs of aging), and since I haven't had this product for 2 months yet, I can't say that I notice any difference in my skin. Any time I see that a product contains acid (this one has hyaluronic and glycolic acids), I get a little nervous as to how my sensitive skin will react. But with this product, it's surprisingly hydrating, and I haven't had any issues with dry skin. My sensitive skin also likes this doesn't contain any parabens or synthetic fragrance. I look forward to continuing to use this as part of my Cerave skin routine. (So great that this product is also widely available and easy for me to purchase in-store.)Lars
I absolutely love this brand and the products. The toner is very moisturizing and my skin feels very clean after I wash with a cleaner. I love that includes hydraulic acid and niacinamide. I feel like I'm getting more bang for my buck. The nightly exfoliating treatment also has a great ingredient list. I love that it is stay-on product. It does not start my skin and my skin does not feel dry in the morning. Lastly, the make up wipes are my absolutely favorite. Surprised this doesn’t have a higher rating. For me it’s been a real game changer. I ordered this on a whim and thought it would be more of a cleanser that you wash off, but was surprised to realize that you leave it on like a lotion. At first I was worried that leaving it on the skin would be damaging, but it didn’t irritate my skin in the least. I do use a lotion with it as it’s not moisturizing by itself. But honestly this has been an unexpected game changer for me. It truly does exfoliate better than anything else I’ve tried, and I’ve tried a lot of things. I’ve always had a terrible problem with flaky dead skin on my face that doesn’t fall off on its own. I was having to use multiple tools to exfoliate the dead skin on my face on a daily basis. Since I have been using this I rarely have to manually exfoliate. Which is such a blessing as my skincare routine time has been cut back considerably and makeup goes on so much smoother. I use this product about 5 or 4 times a week. Sometimes under my lotion, sometimes on top depending on how many times I wash my face that day. I just never put it on if I know I’m going to be leaving the house as it can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. I don’t know if this will work for everyone but it truly has helped my dead skin problem tremendously and it has made my skin smoother and helped minimize fine lines a little. I think this is possibly the first (maybe second) review I have ever made on a product. But I had to come on here and really tell someone (other than my family) about this. I've struggled with my skin since young adult life. It was never terrible, but definitely something I would get insecure about from time to time when I'd get bad breakouts. And that started happening way more frequently as I was getting older which was weird because don't you expect BETTER skin after those awkward teen years? I never found the right combination of products to elevate my skin from being bumpy, uneven, clogged pored, to really being confident with or without makeup. I ordered this a few weeks ago and… let me tell you. It has really made the biggest impact with unclogging those awful nose pores. And has made my skin so much more even than I've seen it in years. My skin is also VERY sensitive and this does not irritate it one bit. I would also recommend applying the liquid with your fingers and not a cotton pad to really get all of the product into your skin (a tip I used from another fellow reviewer). This is the first time I've ever had a HOLY GRAIL skin product. I was originally using Paula's choice bha exfoliant and wasn't really seeing any results. But with this one, WOAH! It doesn't go on oily like Paula's choice, and it also have glycolic acid and lactic acid for extra exfoliating power. BE CAREFUL! When I first started using this I was so happy with my results I was using it every day and it caused my skin to become over exfoliated, super shiny, and destroyed my skin barrier. I took a month break and now I only use it twice a week, with at least three days in between each use. My skin haven't looked this great in over a year. Even though I no longer use the Paula's choice liquid exfoliant I still use the PC oil reducing cleanser which pairs great with this. Nice light formula. I was looking for an alternative to Paula’s Choice 2% BHA for pore maintenance and I think I found it. This toner seems to do the job and has a clean finish. It doesn’t leave the oily residue which I didn’t like with the Paula’s Choice. Perfect for the daytime routine as it gives me a clean slate for the rest of my regiment and doesn’t interfere with makeup. I am so happy with this toner. I have now been using it for two days and in only those two days I have seen a difference and the only new products added to my skincare routine have been this toner and the moisturizer that is also available. I use a cleanser by another brand that contains salicylic acid but since using the toner and moisturizer I have seen the biggest improvements. My dark spots are fading each day, this has become an insecurity of mine as a recent whitehead breakout turned pimples left a dark mark on the side of my chin and ever since using the toner, the mark has lessened in colour significantly. I’ve been using it the 3 times daily and haven’t experienced any dryness, I use the moisturizer right after and that sinks in so quickly but hydrates my skin as much as it needs. Greasy and thick moisturizers just irritate my acne prone skin and usually lead to a breakout or redness. I'm in my mid 30s, workout 2+ hours daily, and needed something that would help with acne, lines, etc. I have very oily skin and living in So. Florida doesn't make it any better. I was having issues with dry patches on my skin due to harsh winter weather and my moisturizers weren't seeming to help at all. I had been exfoliating with a scrub once weekly and that helped somewhat, but I definitely still had texture issues when I was applying makeup. I decided to buy a product with a chemical exfoliant but I didn't want to spend too much money, so I decided on this. It has helped tremendously. I use it about twice weekly because my skin is sensitive, but this combined with the skyn Iceland arctic face oil has really rescued my skin. It is somewhat sticky but that doesn't bother me because I put it on at night before bed and after about 10 minutes I put an oil on top. A lot of these reviews say there's a bad smell but perhaps that was an old formula because it just smells like grapefruit. I think it's a really great value for the money.
