Finally found the perfect cleanser for my face and skin type. I've already noticed a huge difference in overall oil reduction, texture, and clogged pores, so I'm pleased. I have combo oily/dry skin on my face, so some areas over produce oil and some areas are drier than a desert. But a couple of things I noticed about this cleanser is it works really well to unclog the oily areas and keep them moisturized a bit. After about 4 days, I did notice the salicylic acid starting to work and my face was flaking off, but that's what it's supposed to do. So I added some Jergens Ultra Healing lotion to my routine and WOW it's effective. The dry parts of my face are moist, the oily parts are moist but not oily. Would recommend.Luftherz

I received the CeraVe Acne Control Cleanser for reviewing purposes. I have combination skin nose and chin very oily, forehead is super dry rest of face is normal. I also get hormonal acne. With all that said I find this product actually whole line really great. I have only been using for about 3 weeks so I am just over the purging stage but I am seeing my pores getting smaller also not having as much redness. So I NEVER ever write reviews, but I couldn't not for this product – it is INCREDIBLE. I have suffered with bad skin sporadically for about 9 years and I have tried countless cleansers and treatments to stop flare ups but nothing worked – to the point where most days there would be new zits, pimples and scarring. I have been using this cleanser for about 2 weeks and I am so so shocked at how clear my skin is, I genuinely cannot believe it. I have however read that it drys skin out quite badly, so as I suffer from dry skin around my nose area, I have been using it only once daily with an intensely nourishing moisturiser. My skin now feels so soft and looks so glowy! If you have found that nothing works for you I could not recommend this product more, for the price it's worth a try!Megan
This stuff is great! I've been using it for years as recommended by my Dermatologist. Very gentle and effective to not lead to additional breakouts on my sensitive skin. I feel like so many of the bad reviews are people not understanding how products work or how this product works. This product will not work for you if you are mostly dry. And will backfire on you, causing other skin issues and leading you to think it's not working, when really you are using the wrong product for your skin type. This product is pretty gentle. So for those saying they didn't feel "clean" afterwards, it's because you're most likely use to bad products stripping the natural good oils from your face. In LOVE!! My friend is the one who told me about Mario Badescu products, and I’m forever grateful! Keep in mind that the Acne Face Cleaner can and will dry your skin out if you use it too much. I personally use it every other day to every three days. On my days that I don’t use the Acne Face Wash; I use the Glycolic Foaming wash! Absolutely love that one! Makes my skin feel absolutely amazing and clean, I usually use the Enzyme Cleaning Gel that they have right afterwards and it makes my skin tight and AMAZING! Also before bed when I notice I have acne appearing I put a DOT of Drying Lotion on my affected area. MY FAVORITE PRODUCT is the DRYING LOTION… it’s not a lotion don’t let the word confuse you, and make sure NOT TO SHAKE the bottle! Keep the pink sediment on the bottom!! Use a Q-tip or- what I use… chopsticks😂 I cut chopsticks into three’s. I noticed when I use a Q-tip it absorbs too much of the product, and it’s harder to save the rest if you get to much sediment on it. I switched from a physical exfoliant (scrub) to this chemical exfoliant (benzoyl peroxide). This product is much more gentle on the skin and still leaves my skin feeling soft right away. Over time, I have noticed much less breakouts/acne with this product! No more harsh scrub tearing up my skin, so it looks even more hydrated and glowy! I have combination skin, I get oily in my T-zone and have small patches of eczema around my eyes and mouth. I've used the classic CeraVe foaming cleanser/moisturizer/retinol serum/night cream for years. I did a course of strong meds a year and a half ago and it cleared my skin completely. After full-time mask wearing started up again, my acne came back a bit so I decided to try this cleanser after having such good experiences with all their other products. It cleared my skin after only a few days! But be careful – I developed a painful itchy rash around my lips and mouth that took steroids to clear up because of how much this cleanser irritated that area of my face. I've now cut down use from every morning and night to just once every other morning and I avoid my eyes and mouth with it. Great product! Benzoyl peroxide is perfect for hormonal/cystic acne — the red, inflamed, under the surface kind. I had been using salicylic acid for a while and didn’t understand why my acne was not clearing. Until my dermatologist informed me that SA is better for whitehead & blackhead type of acne (which I did not have). 4% benzoyl peroxide is a great amount if you’re just introducing benzoyl peroxide to the skin. This was my go to for quite some time. The charcoal works so well to clear up any acne or pimples and to prevent them. It’s not harsh or over drying. My skin is on the sensitive side and can get dried out rally easily. The bottle and pump is one kid those small but great features that often gets overlooked. It cuts out this little bit of time and frustration that may have made you reach your limit. Just a simple little minor thing that helps start your day off on the right foot. Like I said it was my go to for several years and the only face wash I really sized. I use this stuff about 3 times per week to help with breakouts. Other days I use an all natural hydrating body wash. It really helps clear any acne I get, if you have sensitive skin I would avoid this and find something free of parabens, sulfates, artificial fragrances and other harsh chemicals as well as menthol, menthol can cause some peoples face to turn beet red. Fortunately that stuff doesnt bother me and this is the only acne treatment that has actually helped me. I would caution however not to use it every day, that can cause excessive dryness, which you dont want. Even oily skin needs hydration. Good luck people.David

This little gem came in a bundle that I purchased to try out different products. I recommend folks to purchase bundles to get the vast array of products that they offer. I have very dry skin that coincides with the side effect of a skin disorder that I have. A lot of facial cleansers I am allergic to or have reactions to. So I was wary of this, but I gave it a try. I bought two tubes of that cleanser hoping that it would last me throughout my whole pregnancy. After the first use my skin started to be very itchy and having burning sensation. I thought I will try using every other day but it made my skin worse. My whole body started to itch. It's very watery cleanser that easily gets in to your eyes and irritate them. I'll start by letting you know that I'm not pregnant, but I am mother of two little ones. After dealing with several months of hormonal acne and trying several different face washes, I stumbled across this on Ulta's website and thought, "what the heck, it's worth a shot." Well I can confirm that this is by far the best face wash I have ever used!! Just after one week of use my acne was cleared up. I'm now on week 4 or 5 of using this face wash and I haven't had a single break out!! That's a big deal!! Even through my cycle, which is when I would always have a break out, I didn't have a single breakout this time. I've had a couple of little white heads but they never developed into an actuale pimple. I also have always had an issue with black heads on my chin and nose. I have seen a huge improvement with that as well. My skin is overall so much healthier and smoother!! I use this face wash twice a day, at night when I'm removing makeup I first use my dove beauty bar (just your basic white dove bar soap, if you've never used it, try it!! First off, I have medium skin color, and combination skin type. I rarely suffer from breakouts and this time around I had a bad one so I decided to try different facial cleanser that were specific from acne. As a beauty content creator, educator, and skincare/wellness expert that have battled with acne and blemishes for most of my life, I have tried every remedy for pores, and even made homemade facial products. I tried prescription and Proactiv+, too. However, the Proactiv+ products worked the best for clearing up my skin the best as it had salicylic acid started to over dry my skin making it peel due to the cleanser and cream having benzoyl peroxide. So, I had to stop using it and it was getting pricey, too! However, my skin is not that covered with pores but having an oily T-zone, and wear masks, I still get those pesky bumps. Recently, one popped out of nowhere on my jawline, so this product couldn’t have arrived at the perfect timing. I wash with it right when I get up in the morning and night. Also, it works great as a spot treatment, too! As I was having a few breakouts, after cleaning, serum, moisturizer, I will put a few daps of the product for an overnight treatment, and I wake up with the pores less red and inflamed. I like the creamy blue texture (thanks to the blue tansy) and there is no harsh scent, like most acne treatment cleanser has that medicine smell. It is gentle on my skin with the non-stripping, yet powerful 1.5% salicylic acid to unclog my pores while leaving my skin feeling deeply cleanse and smooth. To preface, I have fair skin that is pretty sensitive and prone to dryness and occasional hormonal acne. My go to cleansers are Dermologica Daily Microfoliant and Vanicream gentle face wash. Decided to add this product to my rotation after dealing with a couple of stubborn hormonal/maskne breakouts and being recommended this brand by a friend. Due to the high % of salicylic acid, i only used it 2-3 times a week. After about a month, I began to suffer from some of the worst breakouts i have EVER experienced in my life on my temples, cheeks and chin which i am just now starting to recover from after 6 weeks. I have been using this products, along with my sister, for three months now. We both have sensitive oily/ normal combination skin. This product has helped keep breakouts at bay. However, it is drying. You definitely need a hydration toner and moisturizer afterwards, as it does make your skin tight and a little dry. I am not sure how effective the salicylic acid in it is because in order to really work salicylic acid need to sit on your face for hours. So that part is a little questionable to me. I’d still say it’s worth a shot if you need a deep cleanser, however, I would use it at night as salicylic acid can make your skin more vulnerable to the suns ultraviolet rays.LaurelBeauty

After I got vaccinated and stopped wearing my mask, my skin was the clearest it has ever been, except for blackheads on my nose. I’m really surprised by the negative reviews I’m reading! I got this cleanser as a sample and I loved it so much that I purchased it afterward. I have combination skin and I also tend to get rosacea in the winter so I really need something gentle. I don’t wear a ton of makeup but I do wear a tinted moisturizer and bronzer and this product washes everything off. I also feel like my skin looks amazing after washing. It is not at all harsh because its been near my eyes and it does not burn. It has a very light, fresh clean smell. I use it to remove makeup, wash my face, apply toner, then moisturize. This has made my skin significantly healthier looking and doesnt strip my skin of its nutrients and helps balance out oiliness and keeps my face looking smooth. I absolutely love this cleanser, I use it every single night for my night time regime. I got it for $15.99 from ultra's website but you can buy it on the brand's site for a dollar less. I would not recommend using this if you have cystic acne. I had really bad and inflamed acne for a while and using this cleanser alone didn't do enough for me. I did not have cystic acne either. Salicylic acid is a betahydroxy acid (BHA) and is the main ingredient in this cleanser. This is definitely effective but not using it by itself. If your acne is not so severe you could probably use it alone and it will clear up but in my own experiences I had to get on a prescribed astringent medication given by my doctor. Using that along with the effacer cleanser has slowly been able to fight off my acne. Overall this cleanser is pretty amazing and is a great tool in controlling my acne. I love it and it is pretty affordable, you can't beat it!jillian.g

Skin type: Sensitive, oily, acne prone, uneven and dull, blackheads, redness. I've tried many, many face washes for blemish prone skin in my lifetime and this is one of my favorites. La Roche-Posay in general has some of my favorite skincare products so I wasn't surprised! It's very mild, lathers beautifully, and leaves your face feeling extremely clean without being tight or stripped of moisture. There was a noticeable difference in the clearness of my skin within the first week of use! I like to wipe my makeup off with a microfibre cloth first, then wash my face with this cleanser to get the first layer of makeup and gunk off. I wash my face a second time to let the salicylic acid penetrate into my pores and truly deep clean my face. 2-3 times a week I'll also use a konyaku sponge to gently exfoliate my skin on the second use. I have many problems with my skin, and this seems to really work for me in terms of gently yet effectively controlling oiliness, acne, and blackheads specifically. Love this product. I'm on the dryer side and generally don't use foaming cleanseres as they make my skin dry and tight. This product didn't do that at all. It left my skin feeling clean and not overly tight and stripped. Would recommend to anyone with oily or acne prone skin as well as dry skin types that want to Clean out the pores. This cleanser is really good. There are lots of comments in regard to the new formula being worse than the old, which has NOT been my experience. ( it’s just a cleanser list of ingredients! ). This gentle foaming cleanser defends against 5 signs of skin barrier, dryness, irritation, roughness, and tightness. It’s not harsh on my skin at all. I massage the product into my ski for 60 seconds then rinse and follow the rest of my daily routine. This product goes on light and smooth and leaves my skin feeling fresh and healthy. I don’t care for the smell though, hence I less the star rating. What I love about this cleanser it is effective, but gentle without stripping or leaving my skin feeling dry. The original formula left my skin feeling dry. I’m so happy they improved the formula with glycerine because my skin feels refreshed and moisturized! First off, I’m an esthetician so I’m a bit of a skin care snob. Things that I do love about this cleanser is that the company reworked the formula and took out the parabens and all of the harmful ingredients that it use to use. The cleanser is definitely gentle and good for sensitive skin. But it doesn’t have any actual active ingredients that would help with acne. So if your expecting it to cure any acne. It won’t. It would be best if used as a pre-cleanse before an active cleanser or if your on a medication that prevents you from using active ingredients. It doesn’t even fully remove my foundation and I don’t use a heavy foundation.jeana.w

I bought this cleanser to help with my blackheads and congestion. I have combination/oily skin, pores, texture, and sensitive skin. PROS: it REALLY exfoliates your skin, removes buildup of oil, sunscreen, etc, non-drying, non-irritating, helps with blackheads better than other products (Paula’s Choice BHA did nothing for me after 3 bottles), softens your skin, and skin feels balanced and fresh after washing. CONS: I noticed my skin got bit more oily in t-zone from using it twice daily. I would really recommend this product for blackheads/texture. Also, every time I squeeze some product out, there are 1-2 small white particles in the formula. I think it’s just some ingredients that clump up and create this. I’m not one to write many reviews or go out of my way to say something is my “holy grail” product.. but omg this cleanser is AMAZING! I had a really bad stress/hormonal breakout that wouldn’t clear up for approximately three weeks. I finally got fed up and decided to give this a try. This along with two other products gave me great results within a week! I have been following that same routine for the past two months now and the acne that I struggled with along my cheeks are almost completely gone. I wash my face twice a day and have sensitive, congested pores, acne prone, combo skin for reference. New breakouts (mostly around my chin.. mask-ne) are minimal and clear up within 3-4 days. My routine consists of this cleanser, a AHA/BHA toner, and a clarifying dry oil that I use as a moisturizer. The dry oil has really helped to combat the dryness from the cleanser and toner. I definitely feel like I got my money’s worth for the size of the product.. I’m not even halfway through the tube! (I use a little more than a pea size per wash) Hope this helps! 🙂jaykitty
Took a bit over a few months to see real results. Im oily, acne-prone but I used to be on accutane so my experience might different. Almost a year after being on accutane I started experiencing acne flare ups again but now on my chin area and those mini bumps that come in numbers on my forehead. After buying this cleanser, it almost immediately cleared up the mini bumps on my forehead but it took almost the full bottle for my severe, stubborn acne on my chin to stop flaring and eventually stop the acne altogether. Now I’m left with acne scars/pigmentation on my chin but it did the job eventually. I started religiously using sunscreen too so I don’t know if it helped halt my stubborn acne as well. I overall in my experience give this 5 stars but if you’re looking for a miracle over night acne eliminator then this cleanser isn’t for you.lorrainejoy

What I love about it: smells amazing, a little goes a long way. What I don’t like: doesn’t nothing for my outbreaks, pretty basic cleanser. I’ve definitely have better. I’m not sure how this did well with other peoples acne and outbreaks but this formula just wasn’t for me. I love the smell but for those with sensitive skin may want to stay away. Like many La Roche products a dime size will lather very well for my entire face and neck. Unfortunately I’m stuck with an entire bottle of face wash I can only use once a day. Its perfect for oily skin. I have suffered from acne since along time. Then my dermatologist prescribed my this facial cleanser. And i never stopped it since then. I am from egypt i used it there and i searched for it here in the US. until i found it on the website. I found it in cvs pharmacy too. My recommendation, if you have an oily skin like mine . It is a nice and light oil foam wash. I am not a big fan of foam washes but I gave this a try. It was a pretty nice feel after washing with it when I felt like I had oily skin. My biggest concern when I was using this product is whether my skin was truly oily enough for this type of wash. Needless to say, there were many days my skin was not as oily as I thought and there where times I felt dry after washing my face with this product. This has saved my oily skin. I do say that it's a gentle cleanser. I exfoliate basically every day. Becuase I can exfoliate regularly with my skin type. e.l.f. cosmetics Acne Clarifying Cleanser really works on my blemish prone skin! I have been using this product two times a day (morning and evening) every day for almost two weeks now. I noticed that the directions on the back of the box say that the product can be used up to three times a day and to apply the medication after cleansing the skin, but the side of the box instructs you to use this product as a cleanser twice a day. Strange. This is a cleanser, so I would stick with the "How To Use" on the side of the box. With my skin type, using this product three times a day is likely too harsh for my face. I have noticed that my skin does have that tight feeling after using the product, but that is how I know it is really doing its job! The cleanser is supposed to gently help remove the excess oils that your face produces, so as a result, your skin feels tighter. I apply some lightweight moisturizer, and instantly, my face feels hydrated again. I love that this product is clean and kind: vegan and cruelty free. I was pleasantly surprised with this face wash. First of all, you really can't beat the price point. Second, it's surprisingly mild for being an acne cleanser with salicylic acid. It didn't dry out my skin at all. It's made of a ton of nourishing ingredients you can usually only find in high end face washes. It does an excellent job of removing makeup. My skin feels clean and fresh without feeling stripped, and I've already noticed a reduction in breakouts. My very sensitive skin is very happy so far. I highly recommend.Ashleigh
Y'all this e.l.f cosmetics Acne Clarifying Cleanser is off the chain ! So I normally never use acne products because they seem to always irritate my skin and cause my breakouts to become really worse , I know they say alot of time it makes them worse because it's pulling everything out , but I don't have time for my face to get worse so I just don't simply use it ..well I decided to give this a try and I am AMAZED!! I love how foamey it gets first of all and I only use 2 squirts on my whole face! It doesn't smell like alot of other acne cleansers this actually smells amazing ! It doesn't burn my face or leave my face bright red , it simply gets the job done and my face feels nothing but amazing afterwards!! Such a refreshing and clean feel to it ! And most importantly of all , it doesn't make my face worse! It's doing it's job and my face is clearing up bump after bump ! It's mind blowing ! I would most definitely recommend this to anyone out there who is just sick and tired of finding products that just don't work !
