I received this sample of Jack Black Beard Lube from Sephora and gave it to my Dad to try out. I'd like to preface this review by stating that my Dad is very much set in his ways and particular about his shaving regimen. For 40 years, he's used the same shaving cream. About 12 years ago (thanks to me), he added a balm that he uses after shaving with his cream to achieve an even closer shave, when necessary – generally, whenever his blade is on its 3rd or 4th use. He shaves his entire beard and sideburns – maintains a full mustache. He shaves daily and is not prone to irritation. Big Pro: He was impressed that the Beard Lube eliminated the need to use the balm to achieve a closer shave; his blade was on its 4th use and the Lube still gave him the perfect shave. He also appreciated how well the Lube softened his coarser hairs pre-shave. Cons: (1) He said it felt greasy upon application – his face did not have the 'clean' feel that his shave cream provides. (2) The Lube left his face oily post shave, so much so that he felt the need to remove excess oils with a warm cloth. This Lube contains oils for conditioning so that makes sense – but oil on the face is not something my Dad is used to and he did not like it at all. He also felt the need to use his regular Balm to give his face the after-shave feel he likes (I guess that fresh tingly sensation scent). (3) The translucency of the Lube made it difficult to see what areas of the face had already been shaven (funny because the translucency is supposed to help you see where you are shaving to avoid mishaps – but he didn't see it that way). Overall, he very much enjoyed the result of the close shave and would purchase the travel size to use while on vacation because it eliminates the need of second shave with his balm (less to pack / carry). He also said it would be handy while on-the-go to take care of a 5 o'clock shadow if there was an event after work. He also likes that he can get longer use out of his blades without sacrificing a close shave or risking potential nics due to a dulling blade — which would save money. I love Jack Black products and use way to many of them! I saw someone else mention travel sizes and you responded that there is a 3oz tube. I travel almost every week for 1 to 2 nights and I am carry on only. This means that I am limited to one ziploc bag so fitting all the JB products I use, plus the rest, even in a 3oz size is simply not possible. I also try to reduce my plastic usage wherever possible, so while I kind of live off the samples (and often time orders to so I can get larger samples of things I use anyway, I hate doing that. Ideally you would have smaller, refillable containers that could be used for a variety of different products. I would actually pay good money for that. I've tried using old contact lens cases but that's not ideal because I think too much air gets in and the product degrades.Joshua
Excellent product! Great body lotion part of my daily routine. I usually lather it in after a shower. The lotion absorbs to the skin fast and ideal for moisturizing my skin. It does a better job than others probably because of the ingredients with eucalyptus and aloe. The lotion leaves my skin feeling soft smooth and nourishing sensation. I was very happy to find this shampoo on Walmart.com. My first purchase of it was from Amazon and the shampoo was very thin and watery, I was not happy with the amount I would have to use to just get a lather. This new bottle from Walmart was so much better, the product was thicker and I'm not having to use as much to attain a good lather. I have been using for a couple of months and so far I have noticed that I am not having as much hair loss and I seem to have a lot of new growth. The shampoo my be my least favorite of the products I own if only because of the scent and dryness it leaves my scalp with. I ordered Watermans double pack of shampoo and conditioner after reading positive reviews online. I was unsure of what to expect as I know certain products work for some people and not others. I received my delivery very quickly and it is very clear that this family run business really care about their products. The shampoo came in a black bottle and the conditioner in a white bottle which makes it very easy to differentiate the products with water in your eyes. The shampoo lathers really well and has feel really soft when washing it out. I feel like a slightly stronger smell would be nice however that wouldn't stop me from repurchasing as I really do see a difference in the condition of my hair. The conditioner is a much thinner consistency and again doesn't really have a strong scent. It sometimes doesn't feel like I have put any on my hair as it is very thin however after leaving it on for a minute or so and washing it out, my hair does feel soft. My hair is slightly dry in summer anyway and Im not sure whether the products particularly helped with that but I do really love these products and would definitely buy again! I spent a few hundred dollars and used a these products exclusively in November/December 2017. A few weeks into my new routine, I started noticing tons of breakage and scalp sores. I took the advice of my MP, added in an oil and a mask to combat the breakage and soothe my scalp… A few weeks later, my husband pointed out my rapidly thinning hair and bald spots appearing. I immediately stopped using ALL Monat products went to a doctor. The doctor advised that the new hair products severely damaged my scalp by causing a growth of bacteria and gave me steroids and some medicated rinses. I also went to my stylist who informed me that my scalp looked like I had chemical/acid burns and that Monat products completely fried chunks of my hair off. Now, I didn't go from using low quality drug store products on my hair to Monat, I don't have a hormonal imbalance, I don't have allergies to common products, I don't have a vendetta against MLM's or seeing people "succeed", it's not my water – we have a very high end water system in my house, and I certainly don't sell competing brands (I'm a teacher, not a stylist). I was using HIGH quality salon brands and took excellent care of my hair before switching. Since Nov/Dec 2017, I've had to cut off at least 8 inches, use medicated rinses, do expensive treatments at salons. 10 months later, and my scalp is still itchy and inflamed, I'm still experiencing severe breakage and fall out, my bald spots have filled in ever so slightly, but I'm now experiencing NEW bald spots. However, I find it to be very expensive compared to other hair growth brands like Bosley for instance. I was a VIP member for Monat so I even got the discount and with shipping the system was often over $100. But first impression, while showering there's less hair fall (I was able to count it) and as days goes by it was becoming less. My only comment is the smell, not saying it's bad. I've been using this the past few weeks and I can say there is a noticeable difference. Is it a miracle product that gives long luscious George of the jungle hate, no. I absolutely love this Thickening 2in1 Shampoo + Conditioner. It has a clean scent, good pump, and thick rich lather. Right now, I'm pairing it with their thickening pomade and the combo is truly a revelation. As someone with thinning hair, things haven't felt this right in a long time. I have been using this shampoo plus conditioner for almost 2weeks now and I have definitely seen some difference in the thickness of my hair. Love how itโs both shampoo and a conditioner, my hair feels soft after wash. I suffer from hair thinning and nothing in the past has worked out for me. I was confused when I received the bottle, and it didn't read "DHT Blocker" on the label. However, the new updated label says "blocker"; the old one (as shown in my photo) doesn't. Still, this shampoo does NOT contain DHT in the ingredients. I went to their website and did a little digging, and that is what I discovered. Hopefully this helps clear the confusion for others. I'll start off by saying that this could possibly be a 5star product. I'm a 50 year old guy and am fairly active and in average shape. About 6 months ago, I started to really notice my hair thinning on the crown and hairline receding. I decided to take action and started researching various natural approaches. So I came up with a plan with 4 parts. I started taking 20-25 grams of Collagen Daily and supplementing with Biotin and Saw Palmetto. The fourth part of the plan was to try the Shiny Leaf DHT shampoo and conditioner. The great news is that it has had a marked improvement in my hair and has definitely started to regrow hair that I thought was long gone. In fact, my hairline is growing back in where it was in my late 20's and early 30's. I'm truly blown away by the results. The not so great news is that I implemented all 4 parts of my plan at once and so I have no way of knowing which parts made the biggest impact or if it really was the combination of them all that worked so well. At this point, my feeling is that it's working very well and I'm not going to change anything. I will say that my suspicion is that the Collagen is the star component of my 4 part plan because I noticed very quickly (like 1 week or so) that my muscles and joints felt great. Sort of like WD-40 for your knees. Really cool! I do believe this shampoo and conditioner contributed to my overall success but it is a topical application which I'm not sure is as effective as the other 3 parts which were all ingestible.Chris D.
I have received both the DHT shampoo, and Biotin conditioner. These products work very well together. The shampoo leaves my hair looking and feeling very clean and shiny, and my scalp feeling light and uncluttered. I seem to be seeing less hairs in the drain so far and will continue to use and buy the shampoo. The conditioner makes my hair feel very soft and does not leave a residue like other consumers I have used. I would highly recommend giving Shiny Leaf products a try.G.S.
