Looking to take your CrossFit training to the next level in the comfort of your own home? An effective at-home CrossFit program requires more than just randomly stringing together WODs. To see results, you need programming that considers your fitness level, goals, schedule, and equipment access.
Before committing to any at-home CrossFit plan, ask yourself: What are my objectives – gaining strength, improving conditioning, losing weight? How much time can I devote each day or week? Do I need beginner-friendly workouts or more advanced? Do I have space and budget for key equipment like a barbell, pull-up bar, jump rope, and weights?
The right home CrossFit programming progresses intelligently, balances strength and metabolic work, and offers flexibility. It should provide scaling options to match your fitness. You want both detailed workout instructions and explanations of purpose. Does a program meet your needs and fit your lifestyle?
If you’re seeking better health and fitness through smart, personalized CrossFit training at home, an experienced coach can make all the difference. Let’s connect to explore your goals and how I can help design an at-home program to get you real results.

2. Hwpo: Hard Work Pays Off [Book]
Product Details:
National bestseller – transform your body and mind with the definitive guide to building peak strength, endurance, and speed, from the five-time crossfit games champion and fittest man on earthno matter your level of fitness, no matter if you’ve never attempted crossfit before, this book is your total training manual. mat fraser is undisputedly the fittest man in crossfit history for winning the crossfit games an unprecedented five times. a student of engineering, fraser optimized his body like a machine, and his absolute dedication to the training program he designed for himself is now legendary. for years, every single decision he made was weighed against the question: "will this help me win?" if the answer was no, he didn't do it. if it would give him even the slightest edge or advantage, he would—no matter the cost. fraser became a master of identifying his weaknesses and then seeking out training methods to improve them, and he's idolized in the fitness community for his relentless pursuit of peak performance. it's not hard to see why he achieved so much success—but how is a different question. throughout his career, fraser has been highly guarded about his specific training techniques (after all, sharing them would not help him win the crossfit games). but with his recent retirement from competition, fraser is finally ready to open up about his path to the podium. hwpo reveals the workouts, training hacks, eating plans, and mental strategies that have helped make him a champion. it's an incredible resource of elite training strategies, illustrated workouts, and motivational stories, and it's a glimpse into the mind of one of the world's greatest athletes.

Reviews:
I started using the PR1000 two weeks ago. Positives: nice entry-level home gym with lots of different exercise options. For starters it comes with a description of 6 different training goals (general fitness, strength, etc). And most important (for me), it's immediately usable, no time-consuming trip to the Gym. Negatives (if you want to see it like that): Because it's an all-in-one machine, you're constantly rewiring (from upper pull to lower pull). I still rate it with 5 stars since it does for me, what I had expected. Advanced professionals might look for higher-level machines that also allow for bigger weight resistance (the PR1000 goes up to 105 pounds on one side).MiSw
This bowflex has everything you need for a great workout. It was fairly easy to put together. I was able to do it by myself. I love the versatility of this equipment and the bench seating can be pushed up to help you save on space. I'd highly recommend this to anyone whether your just starting out exercising or have been at it for a while. You'll get a full body workout and the resistance load is great. This was a real treat for me and a great addition to my home gym.BeautifulSapphire
This is our first bowflex and foray into home gym equipment and we're very happy with this home gym! It is easy to use, has a great variety of exercise options, and is very smooth/comfortable to use. Although not as good as a standalone rowing machine, the rowing option is a still a nice feature that we use regularly. It's compact and folds nicely saving space in our room. We have no regrets buying this home gym!Chris
5. Training For The Crossfit Games: A Year Of Programming Used To Train Julie Foucher, The 2nd Fittest Woman On Earth, Crossfit Games 2012 [Book]
Product Details:
Crossfit champions are not made overnight. the difference between ranking in the games, and gassing out before the regionals, is not the quantity of training, but the quality. good form and good programming are vital. this book is a slice of history. this is the complete training season, starting immediately after the 2011 crossfit games, through the development phases and the 2012 games competition season, to the two-week 2012 crossfit games. the programming sought to increase overall capacity in everything that could possibly be tested in games competition. the methodology is geared to minimizing weaknesses, by consistent and frequent exposure to varied skill sets. it is an amalgam of nine years of programming experience at hyperfit usa (crossfit ann arbor). it is the sum-total of training experience. it is a snapshot of what was done.the purposes of this book are several. having our best people work alongside our newest people underlies one of the key tenets of crossfit: that it is infinitely scalable. the daily chapters contain different sections. these classes have some common components. the training usually includes a warm-up; some are general, and others are multifaceted and dynamic. the next component is either a wod or max effort training. the sequence of these two items also changes at times, true to the ideal that crossfit should be constantly varied. the classes often include extensive skills sets and movement progressions to help people move better. the programming is built around a highly organized, instructor-led training session.please note that this is the actual, unaltered programming.you will see it exactly the way it happened! for example, some days will include “holiday special”, “instructor play” or tba. the training season between the 2011 and 2012 crossfit games was only 50 weeks; therefore, this “year” contains only 50 weeks.

Reviews:
Scale is sleek looking, low profile, and appears to be accurate (using medical scale to compare to). It "wakes" quickly upon stepping onto it and gives a reading within a matter of milliseconds. Upon first pairing the scale, it connected to the fitbit app with no problem. Second, third, and fourth times using the scale over a course of 2 weeks, the bluetooth failed to pair to phone. After 2 weeks, with no real explanation, the bluetooth has functioned properly. According to reviews this lack of bluetooth connectivity is a known problem with this scale. As of right now, it is connecting as it is supposed to and logging my weigh ins on my Fitbit app. Time will tell if the connectivity issues return.Momm
Pros: There is absolutely nothing good about this product. Cons: They don't integrate with the Fitbit app correctly, you have to force stop the app on your phone first, for your weight to be entered into your profile. This is the only "smart" thing about them, so they are just a pair of £10 supermarket scales with Fitbit written on them. I returned them for a full refund and bought a set of Withings. I cannot believe that Fitbit have gone to market with such a poor offering!Liam
Setup is easy and quick. Using it is a little annoying, because you have to have the app opened for it to save. I originally thought just wearing my fitbit would work… nope. In addition, it stopped working about a month and a half in. Tried resetting it and reconnecting my bluetooth on my phone amongst other things. It worked for 1 check in, and then never again.bleudimple

Reviews:
I bought a blaze early in the pandemic. I am a 53 yro long time gym goer, and at first, I didnt like this machine – the bars did not approximate the weight resistance claimed, and the increasing resistance was odd. So I upgraded to 410lbs. After that, perfect. No, it will never be as good as a gym with all the weights and machines, but that not a fair comparison. What it does do well is building functional strength; at my age, I play tennis and some golf, and this has helped me a lot more than free weights. I am not as bulky and my joints do not hurt as much. I recommend this machine.John
Has a lot of exercises, machines says over 60+, but it seems like you would be able to do far more than 60. I bought this in hopes of building muscle and gaining weight, but some of the exercises don't give me enough weight or resistance. You can upgrade the weight resistance up to 410lbs, which I have not done yet. It comes with only 210, which for squatting is enough to make you sweat, but not enough to build muscle, at least for me( i am 175lbs, 5 feet 9 inches). I have been using it for more than 2 months and there is a lot of sign of wear on the hinges where the pulleys attach to the frame. I can see significant amounts of paint and some metal coming off from the friction of the movement. The leg extension and leg curls is what has given me a challenge, or maybe I am just weak, since I used to run a lot. I have it set up in a room, about 10 by 12 and fits very good, I have other exercise equipment in there also. You will be able to find the dimensions on the advertisement anyways. The bowflex comes in pieces, you will have to assemble it. It took me about 4 and a half hours. After you first assemble it use it a few times and then go back and retighten the bolts to make it safer. Once you have installed it, unless you have about 5 foot door, you will have to take some of it apart to get it out of a room or the house. For me( 170 lbs and 5 feet 9 inches) the only place where I need more resistance is in the squats, but I use additional weights on the bar and make it more challenging. This machine has almost all the exercises you need to get into a better shape, to have more movility, and better flexibility. Even though I am a cheap person, and would like to spend the least that I can, I consider it a good investment. If you are strict about your health and are consistent with your work out routines then I think you will find it a good investment as well. Also, I found people saying that this machine is no good and that it is better just to buy weigh sets, which you could find really cheap used. I understand their point of view, because most of those are bodybuilders who lift heavy, which you are unlikely to find in this machine since it is only rated for 410lbs. Comes with exercise manual, how to do exercises, techiniques, postures, etc., installation manual, and some assembling tools.BetoARM
I have to say that the product is a good product, and the price was great from Walmart. However, the delivery of the product was a horrible experience, and had I known it was going to be so bad, I would have ordered from another company even though I would have to pay more money. The shipping company had an appointment to deliver on Dec. 15th; they never showed up and never called. After a lot of phone calls, it was finally rescheduled for Dec. 19th. It got here, the box was all broken open, and we made the delivery guys stay until we made sure that the machine and all its parts were still inside the box. The next day my husband assembled it, and found that there were 2 rust spots on the bottom plate of the machine. He called the Nautilus company who makes it to see if he could buy another plate or if they would replace it. They were very nasty to him on the phone and said they don't care about cosmetic defects. This is a new machine!!!!! The rust spots are very small, so we decided to keep the machine and put some Rustoleum on the 2 small spots. On the positive side, and the only reason I gave it 4 stars, is that I had a similar machine a number of years ago and when I moved, I couldn't take it with me and I always wanted another one. All in all, I found the whole experience with this purchase to be a complete disaster, and I would think twice before I would ever make this type of purchase from Walmart again.LabbieMom

Reviews:
I miss the treadmills that used to have the heart rate sensors, the ones you could put your weight and height to better calculate your calories burned, the ones who had workout program buttons and didn't require you to spend more money on an app you do not want or need. But aside from that, this machine is frustrating to put together eveb with two people. The pieces for the arm rails or handle bars do not fit together nicely as they should making the treadmill look wonky. Also, I looked to see how long the machine is supposed to stay paused, I read somewhere that it should be around 10 mins but I have timed it several times and it cuts of at the 2 min mark. Just for that reason, I would love to return it but I am over the ridiculous 2 week return policy. No one takes a less than 2 minute break. My polar watch stays paused for longer than 10 mins, so absurd. And I tried to reach out to the pro form/my fit company and haven't heard a peep back so please shop wisely and I'd say steer clear. I wouldn't recommend.moviebuff2088
The package is delivered in 1 piece and it is very heavy to be moved by 1 person. So we unboxed it and took some of the smaller heavy parts like the diagonal legs and the top console separately down to the basement. Taking the base of the machine on which we run is heavy and a pain to move down to the basement as well but I think that's expected – I thought you cant have a stable treadmill if it's lightweight right? Ok so at that point, as per the instruction manual, 80% of the job was done: taking the beast down the basement. I was expecting to assemble it in another 1 or 2 hours – it looked easy. However, that's when it started to get horrible. there's a simple step 6:remove and discard the indicated screws (E). The problem is that it took me me 2 hours to remove those screws because they were stuck so bad that after a few attempts, they got striped and then there was no grip at all. Now, I go to youtube: "how to get a stuck screw out?" turns out there are kits available at amazon and menards to do this. Next I get a vice grip to twist these screws out and hurt my elbow. Then I get a plumber's wrench to get a grip on the screws from the outside and turn them anticlockwise. 2 hours to get that last line of the simple step 6 done. Next, step 8 and 9 also look easy but the problem is that the console does not sit right on the hand rails. It fits right on 1 side at a time but not on both. so now i go back and adjust the 2 legs and somehow try to position them so that the console sits and can be screwed on BOTH sides. Step 10: it looks so easy in the manual but the screws just wont go in. these are the same holes that the screws didnt come out of in step 6 so at this point I am 100% convinced that these handrails are defective. the console sits on the handrails, the screws had to be discarded from the handrails and these new screws also go over the handrails. Every step that I have to do anything with the metal handrails just doesnt work. I still havent been able to screw those 4 screws in.Aby
It took me about 2 hrs to put this machine together by myself. I’m a 37 yr old female, so no you don’t need two people. The screw heads for the handles are too small and slide right through the holes in the handles. I’m going to glue them on or get screws with bigger heads. Also, there’s no holes anywhere on the side rails for the upright latch to go. So now, I either have to drill out my own holes or not use the latch…the upright aspect is what I was looking at when purchasing this type of machine, so yeah I’m aggravated that there’s no holes. The machine does seem sturdy, but I haven’t had a chance to even turn the thing on since I’ve yet to move it into my house. I built it in the garage and can’t move it inside since there’s no dang latch holes. Here’s to hoping there’s no other issues with this machine cause I’m going to go insane if I have to take this dang thing back apart to return it. Profit, get better quality control to check what you’re sending out and get better screws. Also, I loathe the BILT app instructions. We need paper instructions that are easier to follow.Stacie8888

Reviews:
I did a ton of research, and although there seems like an endless variety of cheapest-to-most-expensive treadmill options to choose from, I landed on buying the ProForm Carbon T10 for the following top 5 reasons (not in any particular order): 1) I wanted to give IFIT a go and thought a year "free" would be plenty of time to decide if it's effective 2) T10 has a mid-range (2.75) chp motor (higher than cheaper models, lower than commercial, so a good in between) 3) The built-in tablet is more convenient & one less thing to keep charged & ready to go 4) There's a lot of hidden "bells & whistles" not advertised that I found on YouTube 5) I replaced a 12yr old ProForm treadmill that had nearly the same dimensions as T10, and since I already love my space for it, I wasn't willing to move just to accommodate for "bigger is better" (upgraded / commercial models require more space) For all of the reasons above, I'm very satisfied with my T10, but it doesn't quite earn a 5-star review because I didn't find the cushioning to be any better than the 12yr old model. That surprised me because I was expecting to notice some level of a change, yet when I start running, it's no more of a cushiony experience than the old one (albeit far more quiet). Tip: If you're in a healthy relationship with your significant other or have a good friend, enjoy a bonding experience and put the treadmill together, together. Personally speaking, my husband and I can easily get frustrated with each other & typically perform poorly during these team-building exercises, so I gave him 2 options ahead of time…a) we can either try to put it together ourselves, accept that we'll likely argue over how best to do it, and spend the extra money on the protection plan, or b) we just spend the extra money on the install & forgo the supplemental protection plan and argument. He confidently chose option "a" and we managed to put together the treadmill without a poor reenactment of the "War of the Roses". Much of our success had to do with the ability to scan the QR code and follow along to an automated voice and 3D instructions pulled up on his IPad. Great instructions (top-notch really), and upon completion, we proudly high-fived and further discussed how awesome we are over a bottle of wine. I'm enjoying IFit more than I expected, and although I've been a consistent treadmill user for years, I now get an urge to do it because I'm looking forward to my next workout with the trainer/series I selected. My husband never really enjoyed the treadmill to begin with, so he opted to get the NordicTrack S22i bike instead and is super excited about its delivery tomorrow (also purchased from BB). Me too!
I've been using my treadmill for a little over a month. So far, I love it and consider it money well spent. I've been working from home since 2020 and put on a few lbs due to decreased activity. It took Best Buy a month to deliver & install the item but I'm glad its here. I would suggest paying for the installation. I had the treadmill set up next to my desk, i get on in the morning and I take four 10 min breaks/ walks throughout my work day. Now i get my 10k steps in a day. This is a sturdy and easy to use treadmill. Cons- no heart rate monitor, the fan is a little loud and not adjustable and i wish there were programs available that you don't have to use ifit for. I did not get a 1 year free ifit membership and the monthly ifit fee is not in the budget. Overall, this is a great product!Jack
Disclaimer: I had a ProForm treadmill for years (~15+ years). The one I had prior to this, I've had since high school, but the incline broke (motor discontinued) and needed a replacement treadmill. That ProForm worked like a charm and felt another ProForm shouldn't have any issues. Pro: Treadmill feels great. The tread is very grippy with enough room to move side to side and front to back. The machine feels solid, it is hefty and will not slip or slide. Folding is a breeze and takes up minimal room, would be better if folded to full 90 degrees, but not a big deal. Cons: iFit. Initially I was able to start the treadmill without registering for iFit. I was able to do this through "Manual Start". After registering for iFit, that is when all my issues occurred. The load time takes longer than normal, starting the treadmill isn't simply hit start and go. You are at the mercy of iFit. I have to wait for iFit to load to even get to manual start option. As for iFit, it doe not load all the workouts/runs. When I scroll left to view more of the workouts, the screen blanks out and fails to load new workouts. Now when I finally get a run started, the treadmill doesn't move ( I thought with a trainer guided run, the trainer was set the pace, but it doesn't even move when I manually bump up the speed). I dont have a problem with WiFi with any of my devices in that room. If I just want to run myself or with my Pelaton app, I would manually set my pace. Everytime I try to enter the manual option, it errors out and says to pair a bluetooth device. TLDR; Treadmill built like a tank but buggy software.ShouldBeRunningButCant

Reviews:
I searched awhile for a new treadmill and decided on the ProForm 5000. ProForm now has a 2000 which replaced the 5000 but it is virtually the same machine for the same price. I think this has a slightly larger motor but the size and capabilities are the same. Both ProForm and Best Buy offer free shipping but I bought from BB because I wanted the delivery, installation and removal which I eventually cancelled because all they could offer was the service 6 weeks after the arrival of the treadmill….so we painstakingly did it all ourselves. It is a very heavy piece of equipment and we were placing it on a second floor so that took 3 people. The assembly was 4 hrs and you definitely need 2 people. The reason it took so long was that screws didn't fit the holes that were predrilled in several places so we had to improvise. Honestly was a nightmare for us but it's up and running. I'm impressed with the 14" touch screen , the bluetooth speakers and the cushioned deck. The motor is super quiet and smooth. We are not using iFit but on this machine it's not a problem at all like the reviews I read from others. When you start the machine it gives you an option to set up an account for iFit or manual mode. Maybe this is because it is a version before they made iFit necessary to start the programs? It does have wifi but that only works with iFit. The bluetooth works with my music apps on my phone as well as video audio but not phone audio. I LOVE the 14" touch screen and monitor set up. The fan is positioned lower than on my Horizon treadmill so I can actually feel it better. So far no complaints & I am truly enjoying this treadmill. It's a solid machine, great running deck and quiet. Perfect for home use. A side note: Best Buy's delivery guys were awesome!!CKM2
Delivery/Install: One of the vertical metal pillars came in a bit scuffed up, enough for me to call to get a minor discount. Outside of that everything checked out. Opted to Install myself. Straight-forward to put together with basic tools, specially with convenient installation App to guide you along the way. Use/Comfort: Very supporting of Joints. You can see the treadmill bow down as you run or walk preventing the impact to your joints/back. Does a much better job at joint support than the treadmills at local gyms. I do wish it was adjustable to be able to mimic real road feel. Built-in App is straightforward and works without having to sign up for iFit – just hit the manual mode link to start and you can adjust incline and speed as needed and see your stats. Screen is large and bright. Annoyances: Bluetooth is strange and will not allow for streaming your phone's music to the built-in speakers. How pointless. Creeking noises from first week of use point to bad design and shouldn't be happening at this price tier. Touchscreen is not always responsive/hard to select things when running. It's as if it will not register a touch to the screen and you have to hit something very directly for it to take. A software update from the manufacturer should be able to mitigate this issue if they want to try to fix this. Overpriced. This treadmill along with many others on the market are definitely overpriced due to covid. This unit was purchased for 1200 around black friday sales but should be well under 1000. Verdict: Overall I am happy with the treadmill as it relieves joint pain and allows you to run further and get more exercise compared to treadmills I am used to at gyms.shikaka
• I know they don't build things like they used to, but the new 5000 is extremely disappointing in fit, finish, materials, and sturdiness in comparison to our current (and quite old) ProForm we were trying to replace. • My general recommendations after this experience would be: • Don't purchase any large heavy exercise equipment you haven't examined and used in-store, as logistically and financially it can be very impractical to return • Don't buy any iFit enabled exercise equipment unless you intend to maintain one of those relatively expensive iFIT subscriptions for the life of the equipment (note this can easily cost more than the equipment over the life of that equipment). • Consider purchasing delivery and/or assembly options for larger/heavier equipment if it needs to go up or down stairs to get to its desired location • As to the ProForm 5000 • It has no way to permanently bypass iFit so every time you want to use it you have to go through a multi step bypass process, its "50 internal programs" don't seem to number anywhere near 50 and they are heavily interspersed with many more locked programs you have to browse through to get to the built in ones, and "manual" use still requires the bypass and is incredibly rudimentary and unattractive. • The console is sleek an clean looking with good control layouts but constructed largely of thin and fragile feeling hard plastic, and ill-fitting components and cladding with sharp edges and gaps. The whole console is easy to shake around significantly with one finger and a water bottle in the water bottle rattles around even when walking slowly on the treadmill. The large fan enclosure that looks like it holds two fans side by side is mostly facia with one small noisy fan in the center third. It has four speeds and generates a reasonable air flow but there is no directional adjustment and is directed at your stomach if you are of average height. • The treadmill base is generally quiet when running but mine has a periodic grinding sound that I believe is the belt grinding on some of the plastic cladding at some point but I haven't isolated it yet as it makes the sound only when someone is on it. The elevation adjustment is noisy and slow and returns to 0 at the end of each exercise session. • Overall I would not recommend it to anyone given its quality and value for money and its very poor user experience without an iFIT subscriptionjimbo

I just wanted to say thank you for writing Secrets of Successful Program Design. I’m a young coach, I have read a bunch of books and taken many certification courses to educate myself in the world of training, but nothing helped me and gave me as much confidence for training clients as your book. I used to think programming was so complicated because of all the programs I saw other trainers write. Your book helped me realize that programming is simple, it’s just been over-complicated by many in the industry. Thanks again for such an amazing book, I’ve recommended it to any trainer friends I have!Matthew M.
