Best At Home Deep Fryer (2024 Update)

Basically this product is plug and play. Fill with oil to line that is marked inside pot. Plug it in and wait till oil gets to 350*F which is the temperature that it automaticlly keeps it at. Slowly & carefully put in small amounts of product to cook and set your timer. Use the spoon that comes with it to remove cooked product. When finished, unplug & let oil cool down. Comes with lid to cover oil if it is to but used again. Clean by draining oil when cool and wiping out inside with paper towels and/or cloth. Very easy to use & store.crabman01

It is just right for frying small batches of anything: french fries, shrimp, hush puppies, chicken tenders, fried okra…you name it and I will fry it in this great kitchen appliance. I like that you can store the used grease in it to reuse for another frying session. They are very easy to clean and hold a steady frying temperature. heating element sits about a quarter of an inch above the bottom of the fryer so that if you immerse the cooking basket completely it causes the control panel to tilt forward causing an error. If I hold the basket off the bottom I am able to finish cooking. Contacted Delonghi over a week ago and have not heard back from them as of 11/6/22. The fryer cooks the food perfectly but holding the basket through the cooking process is a pain.LH

Good fryer. Fries food crisp, golden color or how you like it. Easy clean up, spigot for draining oil is convenient. Overall it does the job but be mindful of the following issues. 1. Setting the timer/temperature can be confusing especially if you are frying more than one batch. It's hard to manage time and temperature once cooking has begun. 2. The Safety Micro switch is flimsy. I anticipate that it may break easily and a new fryer has to be bought. (I had to return the first one that I purchased because that switch was broken and I did not know at the time that was why it did not work when I took it out of the box). 3. I understand the reason for the quick disconnect cord but it is still too easily disconnected.Julian

This a great fryer. Very user friendly and easy to clean. I have owned it for about three weeks and used it several times. Diced potatoes, empenadas, and a batch of fried fish. All were delicious. The only thing I would change for me, would be the amount of oil required. About 3/4 gallon size for my family would be plenty.Angelle

It's just the right size for a one person household. Using just 4 cups of oil, it makes economic sense to simply dump the dirty and smelly used oil and replace it with fresh. You will know when it's time. It runs hotter than the 375F advertised. After 10 minutes preheat the oil temp was well above the 400F limit on my thermometer, which I have verified to be accurate. Now I wish I had bought the model with heat controls. While no recipe book is included, I quickly found a ton of info on the internet by searching Google and YouTube for "deep fryer recipes". I tossed the included plastic ladle, which I don't want to dip into oil that hot, and use a steel ladle I had saved from a FryDaddy I had many years ago. The deep fryer is great for preparing small amounts when cooking for two. I recently had to have mine replaced under warranty and it was handled very well. The function of the appliance is great. However, I do have an issue with the odor from the appliance itself that was not there with the previous one. Not sure if this will wear off with use or not but it seems to flavor the food as well. I'm going to try a new oil and see if that changes anything.Brea

Nicest little deep fryer for two. My son and I like to fry homemade chicken nuggets and this is the geatest. Using homemade breading or flour you just have to make sure you let them dry first so they don't stick. Used it last night and is very easy to clean. . Has a filter that can be washed after so many uses and has a small spout on the corner to empty the oil. I have an oil contaner to store the oil in the refrigerator for next use and it screens the oil. Very easy to clean out on the inside with two cups of water and some soap. You don't stick it in water. Has lights to let you know when it is done also. All in the directions. Glad I bought it!WeebsMom

Only reason I gave this deep fryer 2 stars instead of 1 is because when it does stay on it works. However, it constantly shuts itself off and that causes problems when I am trying to cook with it. Especially when it shuts off while heating up. It is quite dangerous trying to get to the "Reset" button while the oil is somewhat hot to get it to continue to work so the food can actually be cooked. The deep fryer has to be completely unplugged in order for it to shut off which is annoying. And sometimes it won't even turn off even after pressing the reset button even if it hasn't been used for several days. If I would have known this would be such an aggravation I would have gotten rid of it long ago.BrandonWVU

2019 was my first time frying a turkey, so I wanted something that wouldn't be nearly the hassled that traditional frying setups are. This exceeded my expectations! It cooked it rather quickly and it was just right, not too done or even slightly undercooked. Cleanup is easy as well! Just pull the basin out, wash it in the sink, dry it, and pop it back in. The only problem I have is finding a storage spot for it in my house, which is no fault of company's. So out it sits in the shed until it's needed again, with a good scrub before and after of course. It works as advertised and comes up to to temperature quickly. The magnetic plug truly does fall out easily (allegedly a safety feature but, seriously, it shouldn't fall out THAT easily), and the unit, overall is surprisingly flimsy. The interior of lid/cover is not something that should be placed in the dishwasher, but handwashing is difficult and it is not convincingly clean once washed. The metal inside the lid/cover is going to pit quickly and very easily. My last deep fryer had been my mother-in-law's before it came to me; it was more than 50 years old. I don't give this one 3 years. Wouldn't buy another one but, then again, don't we all say that about products these days. Nothing is made like it used to be. Would not recommend. Spend more money and get something really nice; we will when this dies.SueZQ

Item was easy to fill and use. The food was well cooked. Of course, I didn't expect the oil to splatter as much as it did, my fault, the clean up was a mess. I had placed the fryer on a large cutting board and then placed it on my cooking range, there was splatter everywhere. The automatic oil filtration system doesn't seem to be working correctly, or a matter of fact at all, there is still oil in the fryer at this time. If you researched this model deep fryer like I did I am sure you read bad things about it and problems people had giving it bad reviews. The deep fryer is not the problem at all guaranteed and all it was in every single bad review I read was operator error. With seeing it and how nice it looked and all the features it has I did research it and found the user manual on the internet. Once I read the user manual it explained to me 100% any bad review I read that someone put up. All the people that left any bad review on it for any problem they had using it never read the user manual first before using it. So do not go by any bad reviews you read that people wrote it because it is phenomenal. Basically all bad reviews came from people who NEVER read the user manual before using it the first time and if they did read it they NEVER would have had that problems at all. It has many great features and first one is the oil strainer in the bottom of the screen pan which filters your oil after it cooled that goes into the plastic drain pan. It does filter everything of what you fried out of the oil that goes in the plastic drain pan underneath. I would suggest getting a stainless steel funnel that has a filter that slips in to get all the remaining oil out of the frying pan to put back in your container it came in. I used it probably 10 times and my oil still looks 100% brand new putting it back in the gallon bottle it came in with not one single floating in it from anything I cooked with it. Do not worry about any oil coming out when using it with the filter on the top cover when you see steam coming out with it trapping all of it. I did a test on it to see how good it was and found no oil came out at all and only steam. The manual has temperatures and cooking times in it and this is for a full batch and basically suggestions. You may not be making that much so just watch it and check what you are cooking and you will have that all down path. It has a hanger on the oil pan for the basket to hang on just above the oil to let all the excess oil drain off back into the oil with what you just made when it is done and keeps it warm. Cleaning is simple where I though it would be a lot of work, but is not at all just using a good dish soap and washing parts in the sink, wipe down, and put in dish strainer to finish drying. Oil… Get a good one that is refined that has what they call a high smoke point. What that means is the oil can withstand a very high temperature and not burn putting a burnt taste in what you just made. Basically look for an oil with a smoke point that is as high or higher then the temperature the deep fryer can go up to. So when buying an oil look to see what its smoke point is rated at. This deep fryer is beyond awesome and like above read the manual before using it, draining it, and cleaning it. I guarantee you will not have one single problem or complaint like others leaving bad reviews on it where all it was is operator error with them not reading the manual. I assumed that I would be able to cook two different foods simultaneously without the grease combining but this is not the case. The metal piece that separates the sections does not keep the grease from mixing as it leaves a gap at the bottom. So there was really no point in trying to separate the sections.DOlivia

I have used it twice. So far, I am well pleased. I do wish the plug had a dial on it for choosing the cooking temperature. I like the convenience of covering the pot of oil instead of draining into another vessel until needed again.Patricia

The handles get very hot, the oil is not kept separate as a previous buyer stated-there is a thin piece of metal that stops food from touching but does NOT keep oil from blending, the magnetic plug comes loose too easily, no temperature settings (a corndog that was to take 8 minutes was burned in 4). $40 dollars wasted! i used it so i won't try to return it-that's the only reason it's still here.valarie

The Proctor Silex 1.5 liter deep fryer is easy to use, doesn't use much oil, is countertop friendly and just what you want in a Small fryer. This unit is about the size of a toaster with the frying capability to match its size. It would be ok in an apartment or dorm room where its usage would be for appetizers or some other small requirement. It would be good to prepare a kids lunch, but it just isn't big enough to handle a full meal or a game day wing fest. The deep fryer is willing to go thru back to back loads without setting off the reset switch. I went back to back on it just to see if it would. The deep fryer is built well with a bump away power cord that separates before the unit can be pulled off a counter. This feature should be a requirement on any appliance that is used on a counter. The unit assembles quickly and with just a little oil ( follow the mark on the inside of the pan ) you're ready to go. The unit works well with the temperature setting knob so you don't smoke the oil along with a ready light lets you deep fry at what you set it for. Built like the commercial ones, the heating probes go into the oil instead of having to heat up the pot along with it. It has a vent in the top but no way to check your food without taking the lid off. As for heat transfer, the bottom of the frame is open so I set the whole unit on a tile square just to be on the safe side. The Proctor Silex deep fryer comes apart for easy cleaning, just make sure the unit is stone cold before taking it apart. To prevent using a lot of oil, you might want to set up an oil straining system to recover oil that is still usable. A coffee filter or a piece of cheesecloth should do nicely. Attach the material to a catch container and pour the cooled oil thru it to remove solids that accumulate after say a portion of Onion Rings. Now for the taste results. Everything came out perfect. From fish sticks to a breaded chicken breast, tempura shrimp, mini corn dogs, and more. This Proctor Silex 1.5 lit professional style deep fryer is great just so you don't exceed its limitations. I received this deep fryer at no charge through a review company. I would only recommend it for a single person. It can not fry very much food at one time. The basket can hold about a handful of french fries. It is not big enough to deep fry pieces of chicken or pork chops. If you are looking for a fryer that doesn't take up much space and will only be frying small foods for yourself then this is for you. It does come apart very easily and this makes clean up very simple. Everything fits down inside of the fryer for easy storage without using much space. It has a knob to turn to the desired temperature. Once the temperature is reached a green light will light up. The cord has a magnetic connection so that if a child or anyone were to pull on it, it will disconnect from the fryer to prevent the fryer from being knocked over. Being a smaller fryer it holds less oil, 48 ounces will fill to the max line. The oil pot, basket and lid are dishwasher safe, however I washed them by hand. The entire fryer comes apart which does make for very easy cleanup. I was only able to fry french fries and tater tots in this because of the size, however they did fry up perfectly. I had just recently got my Masterbuilt 10 Liter XL Electric Fryer. I was very impressed on how well this electric fryer cooks. I was at a friend's house for the Super Bowl 56 Party, as I had took the fryer there, and we cooked chicken wings in Canola Oil. They turned out very tasty. We were all impressed with this fryer. Even though the initial timing for it to heat up is like 35 to 40 minutes, yet it's well worth the wait. It's very important to read thr instruction manual before using it the first time. I had the old round electric fryer that took almost 3 gallons of oil to fry the turkey, it lasted me almost 14 years. We did everything we could with that old thing, from turkeys to seafood. When it died we got this fryer, what a joke. Top temp 250, 255 was pushing it, we called masterbuilt, no response. Of course not they were closed. So we cooked our turkeys in the oven, and the next day we returned this junk. It's not worth half the price of what they want, go get a regular fryer, just don't burn anything down.Turkey pro1

Pros: – This thing is enormous! It can handle turkeys up to 20 lbs, 5lbs of wings at one time, an insane number of fries at once, etc. After having gotten used to frying things up in batches in smaller fryers it is definitely nice being able to do everything in one go. – It's electric! Heats up much faster and holds temps more consistently than a propane fryer, and has a *very* important safety feature in that the electrical cord connects to the unit with magnets. If someone walks by this thing and accidentally yanks on the cord, it will simply detach the power cable and therefore won't yank the whole unit (full of potentially boiling oil) onto themselves. (Particularly great if you have young kids or are prone to bouts of clumsiness). – It's very smartly designed! The design makes it so you need far less oil than you traditionally might to get full coverage of your food, the basket hangs perfectly on the rim, and clean up is *much* easier than your traditional fryer with the built in drain spout. – I haven't tried using it as a boiler or steamer yet, but it seems like it would be fantastic for those purposes as well. Gotta wait for crawdad season to see how many I can boil at once in this thing, but I'm guessing it'll be up to the task. Cons: – This thing is enormous! This product is great for any size family because it can hold a small amount or a big amount of food to accommodate your family. I have a big family and this appliance is absolutely perfect for us. This deep fryer works well in comparison to my Air fryer, I fried chicken and fries using it, so far they both had the perfect amount of crispness to them, also the air fryer does the same without the oil. This deep fryer does not smoke out the house or give off the smell of fried food throughout the house, but if you are use to using a Air Fryer you will notice the greasiness of this when you eat the Chicken or Fries. The Metal handle are well made to lift out the Fryer basket, and the mesh in the basket are heavy duty. I would recommend using this Frier at the temperature range of 375-450 F degrees for frying anything large like Chicken legs or breast. The unit is quite large and takes up a fair amount of counter space, I would recommend using it on a counter that does not have a cupboard above it, or if you have a counter island that would be the best place to put it. Remember the Oil is very hot and when done allow several hours to pass before moving or emptying the oil. I would recommend this Deep fryer if you are not considering the Newer type of Air fryers, just be aware of the the limitations and you will be fine.sayno

This air fryer oven is Bigger than it looks! It comes with an oven rack, an air fryer basket & a combination baking sheet/drip tray! They all fit inside the oven together for storage & two accessories at a time obviously works well during the cooking process. What I love about it is it's size & versatility. I also am impressed & in awe at what the fryer basket can hold! When making lunch for my family, I was able to nicely air fry & crisp a half a bag of frozen steak fries! They were perfect the basket allowed for great air flow. I also was easily able to bake 6 turkey sausage patties on the baking sheet with no issues! Everything cooked to perfection & was delicious. I also made toast & attempted to bake frozen cookies. What I dislike is the timer/temperature gages. The max limit is 120 minutes (aka 2 hours). However, the timer starts minute wise at 20 mins so that's a down fall for me. My previous appliances (separate toaster oven & fryer) have time & temperature in increments of 5 & it makes it much easier to use. Air fryer temp & oven temp gages are very similar in that they go from off, to 300, 375 & max of 450. When baking the meat & quickly (right before the timer hit off) I toasted buns & it was fine. But, when attempting toast a bagel & actual toast a few times I had to watch it quickly since I guessed on what time & temp I had the oven set too. Also, when making frozen cookies. I tried 3 batches, an entire package, on the baking sheet in all rack height positions. In each attempt the bottoms completely burned & the tops/middles were raw or just below fully cooked! It's crazy that even when lowering the temperature, repositioning the sheet & switching from convection bake to regular bake we still ended up with the same result. However, every other meat or friable food item I have attempted has turned out pretty well, so overall I am happy with this product. I can't speak on the results of the broiling function though as I've never even used it on my regular household oven, but that is a function on this appliance as well. The overall size & how awesome the air fryer function & basket work for my needs is the biggest plus for me & I'm hoping that over time, with some practice I can get better at guessing the appropriate times/temps to have everything work out perfectly!Nene87

Elite Gourmet Air Fryer / Oven. First I just want to say I hate everything about frying foods. From the smell to the grease splatters to trying to dispose of the used grease when the time comes. That said I was pretty intrigued seeing air fryers but I equally hate clutter and my counters being taken up by big appliances so I put off having one for awhile. Firstly I think its important to note that the elite gourmet isn't just a air fryer. Its also a counter top oven to bake, a toaster and it can broil. So far here is what I've cooked in so far Chicken Nuggets & Tater Tots Fresh Hamburger Patty's for cheeseburgers Mozerella sticks A hotpocket Cookies This review is honestly a mix of love it and hate it. Firstly I'm not fond of the size but its necessary for its functions. It can also be stored away when not being used. The chicken nuggets and tots turned out great tasted like fast food. Super happy with those. Hamburger Patty's were different. Grease was non existent on the patty which while nice made them a little dry however they cooked within 10 mins and tasted great. The cookies- 6 mins at 350 degrees First batch raw on top- burnt on bottom . Second bath cooked but more crispy than we like. Hotpocket – fail burnt frozen on inside still Mozerella sticks – good but cheese started to ooze through basket grate openings had to pick up the hot cheese sticks fast and quickly. Onion rings -best o rings ever! Overall it's a good appliance. It cooks the food as it says it does, but theres definitely a learning curve to it. The book thats included has recipes and cook times definitely helps a ton. Overall not a bad buy just a learning curve and its not meant to cook everything you do on the stove and oven. This air fryer oven can serve an a conventional oven or as an air fryer, which separate convenient control knobs so that you can fry, roast, bake and even defrost all of my favorite foods. I don't like to fry food because the grease can be quite messy at times. So, I thought it would be easier to use the deep fryer. The deep fryer hold enough food for about two people. I fried chicken and fries in it. My fries cooked fast and I was unable to eat them. The chick strip came out good. A light duty fryer that's nothing exceptional. The control knobs are too large so the temperature settings are hard to see. The lid fits very loosely on the unit and you can be scalded by escaping steam if you're not careful! The frying basket is small, flimsy and considering the amount of oil used is fairly small. Heating time is average to a little slow. But, at this price point you can't really expect Cuisanart!GSBLTD

I purchased this pan and it worked great for about a year. Then one day when cooking I heard loud popping sounds. It turns our the bottom of the pan started to pop away from the pan. I have never had anything like this happen before. The next time I used the pan, the bottom totally detached from the pan. I have emailed Oster for refund.CPearl

First off I love this deep flyer, I have a family of 6, and cooking french fries for a family of 6 this comes in hand. I can cook enough fries for everyone at once. Another great thing is if it's just me and the husband I can cook chicken strips on one side and french fries on the other. It heats up pretty quickly. I love that it has a green light that lights up to let you know it is ready. This deep flyer also has a timer, So you can set the timer and it will stop cooking. It cleans up easily. We have cooked okra, onion rings, french fries, hush puppies, fish, chicken, and many other things. Everything comes at great. Crispy on the outside and moist inside. Overall this is a must for families. It comes in hand a lot in my home.heatbutterfly

this fryer works great. It holds a lot in each basket. The only thing id like is a third full size basket. It holds nearly 9lb of shortening so plenty of frying area.tim

I was looking for a stove-top deep fryer. This deep fryer is the perfect size for what I wanted it for. So far I have used it for frying fish. I wanted to replace my electric deep fryer as I don't like it and I believe this stove-top model will work great for my needs.Urbandale123

I bought this pot, because I like that it is tall and narrow, so that I could put other pots on the stove with it without them touching. It is beautiful and it works great. The reason that I don't like it is, because I used it to boil vinegar and garlic to can peppers and the stainless steel coating came off of the inside around the top edge of the pot. I have other pots that are stainless and use them for vinegar a lot. You have to use stainless or glass (corning) for vinegar as it will ruin nonstick and the vinegar gets a horrible taste if cooked in aluminum or cast iron. Any stainless steel pot should stand up to vinegar, but this one must be coated with stainless steel and not totally stainless. It is no advertised as 18/10, so that should tell. If you are never going to use it for vinegar, it is probably a wonderful pot, as I have the roaster from the same company and it is great. I used this pot for cooking the juice to can figs and that was fine. It cleaned up wonderfully. Sorry to say, I am returning this one today.MammieSammie

I wanted/needed a new deep fryer but didn't really want another electric one. Decided to try this stove top one and like it well. It can also be used as soup pot, etc. Only complaint I have is that there were no instructions/recipes enclosed. I had no idea what temp. to heat the oil to so my chicken either turned out beautiful on the outside and bloody next to the bone or done all the way through and crust was hard as a brick. Just have to work with the temp. till you get it right.ssjs50

I haven't used this yet but it's definitely compact. Perfect for my studio apartment and seems to be sturdy. Can't wait to cook in it.Chrystal
