Best Automatic Inground Pool Cleaner (2025 Update)

Is it worth the $160? Absolutely. My boyfriend and I bought a house in June with a pool. Since neither one of us had owned a pool in the past, we hired a pool company for monthly maintenance and service. My boyfriend has been telling me since then that we weren't getting our money's worth. We finally decided to get a pool vacuum for the pool since our pool was constantly green. Well, we decided to test this out yesterday, and it's been in our pool ever since. With the help of a local pool company, we were able to get the pool from swampy to sparkling in a mere 24 hours. Then, this creepy sucked up all the dead algae, dirt, and "stuff" our pool people couldn't do. Even if we have to buy one every year, it will STILL be worth it! Oh, it did took a while to figure out the weights. And sometimes we still have to guide it to the shallow end, but it's a small price to pay. Worth every penny I took a risk with! I have a cheap Intex inflatable pool. After a $500 pump filter upgrade ( totally necessary), I needed to invest in a vacuum. After hours of research and videos, I decided upon this product and I am totally 100% Satisfied! ( I’m extremely meticulous)It sucks up everything as I needed it to do. From small sand, super fine dead algae, to larger objects and dirt.Assembly was easy, thanks to a you tube video I saw.There are more than enough hose lengths for a large 24’ or so pool.The fun part was tinkering with the hose lengths for my pool and adjusting the weights on the hose to get it work optimally. I’ll get to that in a minute!The 2 springs on the flapper valve ( speed adjustment) are easy to change the position, made of quality stainless steel, and have exact tension which I appreciate! The trick to changing the spring slot position is to use your thumb on the flapper valve as it relieves tension making the change much easier.This is the best investment in a vac you could make on a lower budget that doesn’t break the bank!Plug the hose ( has a stepped size flexible rubber adapter), ( SEE PICTURE), into your skimmer, or wall inlet ( mine is an Intex easy set ( w/ aftermarket fitting ), adjust the weight on the hose ( 12” or less near the vac) to keep the vac at a 45 Deg optimal angle, turn your pump on, and watch it go to work! EASY AS PIE!It “ chugs “ along on a pulse suction operation based upon the spring setting on the suction valve. I found a fast setting gets most dirt, but a slower ( middle of 6 slots), is the better setting for really fine debris.The key is the yellow weight near the end of the first hose nearest the vac. The directions say, place 1 weight w/I 12” of the hose connection. I slid the weight back and it lifted the rubber circular vac “ plate” piece up off the bottom of the liner too much and suction was drastically reduced and it missed a lot of dirt. The directions also say to use 1 yellow “slide on the tube “ weight per 3’ of hose. That advice is spot on! It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure it out!The assembly did require a pair of needle nose pliers to pinch the plastic slip fit pieces properly into their positions. (SEE PICTURES), Anyone who can do it without pliers has to have amazing finger pinching strength in a very small confined space.Assembly was really easy, except the “ bumper guards “ slots and pliers, even that wasn’t bad actually. ( see pictures)It assembled in 10 minutes, was fun to adjust and watch work, and relief was overwhelming for me as I finally had an automatic vacuum that did an excellent job without me having to hold a pole, nor get in the water any longer; which, for 9 years was the norm.I am over the moon happy!!! I also didn’t have to use a garden hose and add water to the pool anymore ( big smile) while vacuuming which stirs up the bottom ultra fine sediments. Those days are OVER! Wahoooo.After using for 30 minutes ( 18×48 easy set inflatable Intex ) with the ladder removed, it did exactly what I bought it for, my pool was spotless on the bottom!It rounded the corners ( constant radius pool ), never snagged or got hung up ( hose length is VITAL), and I am telling you, this product is everything I wanted it to be! A solid performer!I have a 1 HP pump, and the directions do have a conflict where it says you should have at least a 3/4 hp pump, then the next paragraph it says, you must have a 1 hp pump or above to use this product successfully.With pools, the more suction is always better though right? Yes indeed, more is better in this instance.I’m glad I researched what vac to buy BEFORE upgrading my pump, as it was super helpful to know what HP I needed. The 1 HP is adequate!So in closing, I would highly recommend this product and would definitely buy it again. The fit and finish is top notch, functionality is perfect, and you can put this in your pool, let it go, and walk away unless you have steps. It can get stuck in 90 degree tight spaces near a ladder, but it’s rare. The bumper guards do a great job to help it navigate around possible snags.If you’re wondering if this is worth the $100 + ( thanks Covid) price tag, in my case, definitely! Buy it with confidence, shipping was fast, all the pieces were included that were supposed to be included, and as long as you handle it carefully and store out of direct UV sunlight, it will last you for years and years!Thanks for reading my review!Back2New P. This little critter is great, especially for the price. Yeah, I'd like to have one of those $1,000 robot pool cleaners, but for under $200, this one does great! It had my pool cleaned in about 3 hours, and I didn't do what the instructions said, which was to brush and totally clean it before using this (huh?) That's like cleaning before the cleaning lady comes. (well, okay; so I do that.) This is my second XremepowerUS Automatic Suction Vacuum; the first had a handle part break after a few years, but it was still working up until then, so once again – for the money, this is a great little workhorse of a vacuum. For those having trouble – work with it; adjust the flow of water to your skimmers, add or remove hose – it WILL work if you use it properly. It may not get every single inch of your pool, but with a little diligence on your part, it will keep your pool much cleaner than without using it. We have big trees around our pool, and there is always a little debris in the pool, except when there is absolutely no wind, which is rare in Kansas.Yessenia S.

This is the 4th 280 we have owned. When we purchased our house with the pool it had a Pentair Legend 4-wheel cleaner. The pool has steps on one end and a raised level with bar stools on the other. The Pentair was continually getting stuck trying to navigate around the bar stools. When it was time to replace it I got the Polaris 280. It does a better job maneuvering around the bar stools, however the length of the hose affects its performance; to short and the hose snags on the top of the stools; to long and the 280 will occasionally tie the hose in a knot where it comes out of the pool wall. The 280 does a respectable job on the steps, but the bottom of the cleaner does drag on the edges of the steps and sometimes gets hung until the backup valve kicks in. However, I haven't read of another cleaner that does any better. In Texas our pool and cleaner runs all year so when the 280 doesn't appear to be moving properly or is slow moving around the pool I order a tune-up kit. For less than half the price of a new 280 this kit replaces all the wheels and moving parts and in effect you have an almost new cleaner…also much cheaper than having the pool store rebuild your cleaner. I also highly recommend the tail sweep pro for the end of the tail sweep, unless you don't mind getting sprayed or having it spray pool water on your windows.stonecarver1987

I obtained a Polaris F5 to replace my 280 at roughly half off list price. This unit was described as used or rebuilt and came with a full mfg. Warr. I found this offer too good a deal to pass up. I purchased it expecting a machine with some wear. But to my delight I could discover no user wear after inspection upon arrival. I placed it into my dirty pool for immediate duty. Some shock and several hours of sweeps yielded a clean pool and packed filter bag. Thx eBay1dennislfung

Received this very quickly. Seller was prompt during a busy time of year. This Polaris 280 replaced another Polaris 280 which lasted many years. They are the best! It went to work as soon as it was installed and cleaned everything up in the pool.capfay

Assembled according to diagram with weight positioned 1-1/2 lengths back from sweeper end. Two extra lengths added beyond longest stretch in pool. Worked right away and remains flat and balanced throughout. Even climbs the sides of the pool to the water line. Doesn't cover stairs or ledge as expected.Moves fairly quick at 2800 rpm. But even more impressive is that it is still moving at 1800 and 1500 rpm on my 1-1/2 hp variable speed motor. I'm using a dedicated pool vac line that is connected to the filter basket skimmer underground, so I leave a rubber cork in center of skimmer lid to divert all suction to that line. If I pull the cork, of course the sweeper will not run and it will skim instead. That's how my system normally works.Just finished resurfacing pool with mini pebble Tec finish and this has swept it clean since all chemicals were balanced and pool is looking sharp!You will notice in video how the hose line oscillates back and forth as the diaphragm pumps. This is normal and only makes a slight thumping noise that is not bothersome at all. It does make the pool water look shaky like there's a lot of wind, but not an issue.Great replacement for my age old Hayward Pool Vac and I don't have to change expensive parts every year. Not sure it would have lasted on pebble Tec anyway due to rougher surface on plastic.Well worth the money especially when on sale. Two thumbs up so far. Will be back if something fails.Carey P.

I’m not trashing the product because by reviews it seems to work for some. In my situation I could never get it to be satisfactory. Regardless of how I adjusted weight placement, return outlet directions, main and skimmer valves I couldn’t get it to do everything the way it should. Example: in my system I can’t restrict the main drain suction enough without it cutting sufficient flow to the pump to keep it from frequently getting stuck on the main drain. Unfortunately once you try it you own it. Also, if you have to hook it up through the skimmer, you no longer skim floating bugs or debris. For me it’s way easier and less frustrating to spend a half hour brushing and vacuuming once every week or so, and I don’t have to look at it or swim around it.David Eckert

Bought this a replacement for a six year old unit. We have a 16000gal 16 x 34 inground with 1/2 being 8ft deep. Cleans bottom and sides well if we keep the suction balanced at the pump diverted valve. Very easy to assemble. Main part that wears is the diaphragm tube. Easily replaced and relatively inexpensive. Have found the cheap, Chinese knockoffs to be worthless.terrance6

A few things to improve on for Hayward.. 1. Despite trying all adjustments unit does tend to dwell in corners for reasonably long periods (eventually moves itself however) 2. Pool coverage is average, appears to track a similar pattern often despite so called programmed ability so this does not happen? 3. I would recommend including a hose/unit weight as an addition. Previous units I have had include a weight fitted to the closest hose to the vac – assists in keeping it grounded. * Be helpful I feel as the unit does do a bit of side tipping in the beveled corners, and not sticking to floor surface here and there (Tried all three flap adjustments – no different) 4. Should include a hose adaptor or two in differing sizes as the supplied hose would not connect directly to my skimmer plate hole, nor does the regulator valve supplied fit it either. (Too small for hole, perhaps as its made for America not Australia?) 5. Finally, I have a fiberglass pool with rounded floor to wall corners as pictured in the manual.. sorry guys it won't climb at all on any setting.. Fortunately I do not require this function. I’ve had 2 kreepys over the last 30 years. Originals, both of which lasted about 15 years each. Kreepys have always had their problem, like having to be taken out during leaf fall seasons. But when they work, they’d work well.But this new one is crap. I cannot make it grad the bottom. It wants to scoot along Kanye’s to the side. And when it comes to a certain spot, a curve on my inpool finite lower stairs, it just gets hung there. Both old Kreepys did fine. Never had a problem there. This one isn’t up to the job. No matter what I do.I’m considering a wheeled cleaner.Now it’s 6 months later. This thing continues its above problems. But now it’s wore a hole in itself in a couple places from riding my pool steps.John S.

I just love all the advertisements from companies like this claiming to have the answer to a crystal clear, clean pool! The fact is the price of robotic pool cleaners keeps going up and up. All claiming to be the next best thing since the invention of the wheel. Unfortunately I have not yet seen ONE product that is reliable and last more than one season. Yes, you see new bells and whistles as the prices go through the roof! My advice to Polaris and other robotic manufacturers is to have your Engineers go back to the drawing board and design a reliable, repeatable product that does not have to rebuilt every two weeks on order to work properly. Pool Robotic technology is not at the point where a reliable product can be offered that is worth the outrageous prices these companies charge for junk. POlaris, you want to charge $1000 for a robotic cleaner? I would be happy to pay a $1000 for something that works and will last at least five years. Go back to the drawing board! People aren't made out of money and you need to own up for the junk you sell!George M.

June 13, 2018 – New Info:First, thank you to the Zodiac team for reaching out. It does show a lot of customer concern – I only noticed when I came pack to update my review. I will be contacting those respondersNext, I will report that since the initial review, I've taken the cleaner in for service 6 times, and then engaged a weekly pool service to keep the pool cleaner as this product DOES NOT WORK EFFECTIVELY!Whenever I take it in (to a Polaris authorized repair shop, they claim), they replace the parts – usually the chain has slipped off, so new chain guard to try and prevent (I'm on my 3rd of the "upgraded" parts), or bearing in the wheel assemblies, or the latest – the Gear box has completely frozen and will need to be replaced.Some folks get lucky. I pay $200 – $400 PER YEAR to repair. Even in the two weeks following repair that it does work, it repeatedly gets stuck and does not effectively climb the walls. And my pool does not get a lot of debris! Just occasional leaves from neighbors, some grass cuttings or sand/silt from waterfall.I'll update after I speak to Polaris repOriginal Review!Although I did not buy this cleaner on DiscoverMyStore, I did find these reviews as I am searching for yet more repairs for my unit.This is a horrible piece of equipment and i would suggest anyone even considering it to to run very far away. Should have been a winner but this is one of the biggest ripoffs I've ever experienced.Without exaggeration, I take the cleaner in at least 6 times per season for repair, usually to the bearings or the drive chain slipping off. I only take it 6 times a year because not because it works the rest of the time, but rather that I get tired of hauling it in. They've completely rebuilt the machine at least twice, replacing almost every part. I've replaced the booster pump and have had the service technicians out repeatedly to test volume levels, etc. I take it in yearly during "Polaris Days" just so I can get a new bag and yell at the representative. I've called multiple times to the corporate offices and never, ever get a satisfactory response.Save yourself the aggravation and choose any other cleaner in the world. Only day 2 of running this but what an improvement! Our old Polaris just stopped working but this new one seems more durable and less components that could go wrong. The setup was simple and it has been working hard trying to get our pool clean! Im dumping out crap out of the bags every several hours! Our last one died this past summer so the new one, has had lots of cleanup to do. I'm so glad we decided to go ahead and purchase a new one instead of fixing the old. The sport is far better than the original Polaris. I will definitely update in 6 or more months if it is still working great. As of now, I am impressed.Nathaniel Y.

I have owned this robot for a year now. It replaced a much more expensive Dolfin unit. Its all about the baskit, My other robot cleaned the pool as well but was way more difficult to clean the bag. This one cleanes as well but is so much easier to clean the baskit. I have used some other leasser brands on other customer pools but for my own pool I insist on Doflin and this one is a nice compermise between options and price. Being able to blue tooth your robot might seem important but you acualy only want to drop in in to pool once a week and forget it.harkonenn

Replaced my Hayward Tiger Shark vacuum which had done a good job with the Maytronics. This vacuum hands down is a better vacuum. It was cheaper than the Hayward and the basket system is much better. Easy to operate and it does a much better job of cleaning the entire pool including the sides than the Hayward did. Highly recommend.Randall

The Maytronics Robot Triton PS is an amazing wall climber and actually climbs steps fairly well. It doesn't turn over which is remarkable as it climbs and scrubs the wall and tile line. I am pleased so far on most features of the Triton. I thought this cleaner had a night strobe for locating on the bottom of the pool after dark, but it doesn't seem to include one (unlike other similar unit brands). The control unit cord has an anti tangle feature and it performs better than units with out the line floaters. The control box is very easy to operate. The owner instruction book is rather sparse on information. The one feature lacking is a longer than one week program….a drawback to operating the unit without some one being able to reset the program.corvette1440

For the price the Zodiac MX6 delivered what i was looking for. I needed affordable pool cleaner that would pickup the find debri and scrub the floor and walls of the pool. I didn't know they sold a elite Zodiac MX6 that come with two rubber scrubbers that i needed on my new mx6. I was able to do a little research and found out i could buy the new elite part and it would fit on mine. $29 and one screw it was on and working. The only problem i have is my pump is getting to much air in the line which i can only see the leak is in the reconnecting hoses on the MX6.i figured that shutting off the bottom drains before hooking up MX6 seem to solve most of the problem. It worth the price and quality and i am very happy with my purchase.dsallas-123

Item was delivered next day! The Zodiac MX6 was easy to assemble and get going (took me and my 7yo grandson about 15 minutes). We have a 14×36 in-ground concrete pool that is about 9.5' deep. The skimmer is located near the deep end, but the MX6 seemed to have plenty of hose to reach all areas in the shallow end. We watched it for a few minutes and kept checking on it every half hour or so. It never got hung up or stuck on anything. It cleaned the pool in superb fashion. I'm extremely happy with this….especially since Walmart was about $60 cheaper than Amazon!Mp3Mike

This product will free you up to do other things while it is cleaning your pool. While this robotic cleaner is not able to clean every spot of my pool – steps, seat and sharp curved areas, it does a great job of getting the debris off the floor and walls. Now it will not get all the fine dirt from a wind storm. It seems to vacuum the dirt but since the filter is not coated with DE the fine dirt will pass through the filter and back into the pool to settle back on the floor and steps. So my process is let it run for the 2 1/2 hours – take it out, then clean the inside of the robotic filter. Go back to the pool and sweep the pool. Due to the white plaster I can see where the robotic cleaner misses. A major plus on why I purchased this was that the debris does not go into my pool filter. I don't have to run this when the filter is running and I don't have the vacuum hose always in my pool. My neighbor has a vacuum connected to his filter and every morning I hear when the vacuum comes out of the water and sucks up air. The major disadvantage is the higher price but I believe that the less wear and tear on my filter is worth spending the extra money. Remember all the debris that this robotic cleaner picks up is that much less is going into your filter thus keeping your filter pressure from climbing that much faster – thus allowing your filter to run more efficiently. I've been a pool owner for over 40 years and I should of bought my robotic cleaner a long time ago.RMG

This Aqua Products EVO604 robotic pool cleaner is leagues beyond my previous one! My old one could only clean the bottom and the slanted bottom, but couldn’t go up the walls. This guy can actually climb all the way up past the water line! Not only that, but it cleans very well.It’s definitely a beast of a pool cleaner though and is easily 4x bigger than my previous one. I actually purchased a small deck box just for this because i didn’t have enough room in the bigger deck boxes I already have for it. You also need to put this away when not in use and make sure that it’s not left sitting out in the elements. So keep that in mind because it needs a lot of room to store it.It takes a few minutes to set this up since you need a power source and have to connect everything, but once it’s set up it’s a breeze to operate. There’s no app or anything like that, it’s either just on or off, so basically cleaning or not cleaning. That’s it. No fancy settings or readings. Upkeep is also nice and easy as well and you don’t need to keep buying filters and other things for it.The only thing I really have complaint about is that it doesn’t clean in any sort of systematic way. It’s sort of like the old Roombas when they first came out. It just runs all over the place until it gets 95% of the pool. Unfortunately that means that there’s always going to be a spot or two that it misses and there is no way to get it to clean that specific area. But other than that this is an amazing robotic pool cleaner!Melrel05

This Aqua Products EVO604 Evo 604 Robotic In Ground Pool Cleaner with Dual Traction Motor, is a powerful robot pool cleaner that will usually clean your pool well, but there have been occasional issues, although they were easily corrected.Robot assistants with various levels of actual intelligence are all the rage these days and so it was only a matter of time before someone decided to make a "robot" pool cleaner, and here we are. I hadn't heard of this company previous to this, but my first impression of this product was that it actually isn't as little as I thought it would be, this thing is a little chonker weighing over 50 lbs but it puts that weight to good use as it scuttles along the floor of my pool cleaning as it goes. Another issue is having to store this thing in between uses, since it occupies so much space and isn't the easiest thing to find a space for.For anyone who has any experience with any of the other robot assistants, you know that there are lots of little hiccups and surprises that go along with owning one. This is no different as it is prone to making those same "Oopsie-daisy" mistakes, but honestly not as much as I was expecting. The majority of the time the only input that is required of me is to just start the cleaning cycle and then when its done I retrieve it, unless it didn't clean well enough, in which case I set it off on another go. I was a bit disappointed in the size of the bin in this thing as it can get full pretty quickly, but that probably had more to do with me not cleaning as often as I should have been, because since I've been using this more often it hasn't been that big of a problem anymore.Overall, I found this was a pretty good product that does a good job of cleaning my pool. But as with any robot butler device, this does have some whacky bugs and issues occasionally, although not as much as some other robot assistants I've tried that rhyme with "Boomba". 4/5 stars.Mike P.

1. 4 sections of the hoses included would not fit into the other hose ends. 2. The vacuum itself does not seem weighted enough to keep it on the bottom. At times it lifts from the bottom and floats on its own. Yes it is adjusted to the proper pressure per Haywards instructions. Wish I had ordered the Hayward Navigator instead of the XL.roger

This vacuum works great, I got better results by NOT using the pressure regulator that came with the vacuum that should be installed inline a couple hoses back from the vac itself, I am using the hose weight to keep the angle correctly for maximum performance and that varies from pool to pool on placement of the weight, as far as proper suction goes, I just used the tapered adapter for the hose and plugged it in to the skimmer and then applied how much pressure I needed by turning the valve on how much the vac needed to move properly around the pool. As far as the pressure regulator goes from Hayward it seemed to weight the hose down making the vac push it around like added unnecessary weight, although it may work for your pool conditions, I just found it unnecessary for mine, but overall it does get the job done, pool vacs are something you have to spend a little time with in order to get them balanced correctly with proper water pressure and weight placement will get you maximum performance, good luck.davidct70

The DV5000 cleans well when it stays upright but it kept turning over when it tried to climb walls and clean them. Then all it did was sit like a turtle on its back. It could do nothing. Sent it back for a refundDC

This is the worst thing in the world. I cannot get it to work at all! I am so disappointed! I paid over 300.00 for it and it doesn’t work. There were no instructions that tell you how to operate it. Hayward 4 wheel "Suction-Side" Pool Cleaner, advertised for a 40' pool. Assembly was easy. We used it ONE time and are returning it. The tubes all put together reached less than 30 feet so it does not cover a 40' pool. Manual says it will not get stuck on the main drain at the bottom of the pool – but it did. DH double checked to make sure the drain was turned off. Drain was off but the cleaner was stuck. The wheels kept turning though… could that damage the liner? Advertisement says it climbs the walls – it would not. Manual says if it doesn't climb the walls it could be due to low suction. However, on the unit we got – the suction was not low because the tube (that was too short) collapsed. It wasn't able to handle the suction. Maybe we got a bad unit? I like the silent and smooth operation. This replaces a chuck-a-chuck pool cleaner and a net-bag type wheeled collector prior to that (over 20 years). This cleaner was recommended to my by a friend, he having the two wheel version. I have a 16 x 32 pool 3-6 feet deep. This 4 wheel cleaner makes it around my pool and keeps it clean using 2 hours per day of operation—-yes two hours. I have a multi speed pump controlled automatically for speed and valve actuators to turn on and off one of the two pool skimmers. The additional suction for the remaining open skimmer is sufficient to run the cleaner at its optimum 14 wheel revolutions per minute. Outstanding and easy to set up. NOTE in revision: had a problem with the pool filter climbing out of the pool. The wheel rotation number was set right, and it was doing a good job. But the climbing out created a terrible growling sound like a wild animal and the air cavitation will eventually kill the pool pump. looked up service for the cleaner and found that there is a small plastic piece under the cleaner that comes with three restriction sizes, small, medium,and large. Medium was installed at purchase. Changed it to the small oriface and that solved th problem. Wont climb all the way to the top of my concrete pool but cleans well and no longer cavitation. This is NOT obvious. But its there if you read carefully. Oriface change is a simply two thumb-tab removal and install.Buysgoodstuff

This is the second Hayward pool cleaner I have purchased. The first one worked for 12 years and would still work had it not been for my own operator error. This cleaner is light and easy to use. When I first put it in the pool, the cleaner did not crawl the side walls; but after adjusting the flow it works great. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone in need of a robotic pool cleaner. I received the cleaner earlier than expected, which was a nice surprise. I bought this to replace the old version of the Intex vacuum. I especially liked the fact that it climbed the walls and didn't have the sectioned hoses the sprayed water everywhere like the old one.This has a larger compartment to store debris and is easier to remove and install. The handle also helps make it easier to maneuver. It scoots along the bottom and moves right up the side. Slick.Unfortunately, it gets stuck quite a bit. We have a large stairs that it always seems to hang on. It tries to climb them and just stops. It's annoying enough that I'm looking at getting the old version again. I don't like wasting money like this, but I also don't like being inconvenienced like this vacuum does.Sam

Bought this for a 33' round pool hoping to save a buck and cleaning time. First, if you do not have an Intex pool, you need to get some crazy fittings in order to adapt this properly to a standard inlet. All they had to do here was create a single part that adapts standard inlet threads to the Intex inlet. Had more than enough flow to make this work with a 2hp pump. Mostly, the device would crawl up a side and just hang out near the surface. It has brushes that rotate with the wheel assembly, but they rotate the same speed and direction as the wheels so don't actually brush anything. Once, when I got the device to appear as if it was working, going forward and backward in a random pattern, I let it run for about an hour when the pool was quite dirty then pulled it out to check the debris collection. There was less than a gram of particulate collected. Cleaned it up, repackaged it, and returned.T. H.

Coleman Power Steel 18×48 Above Ground Pool with sand pump filter. We check on it and talk to it like it’s a child. Nothing to dislike. Don’t foresee any issues. Keep it clean and the pool clear of items. It will do it’s job. It scooped up a small earring, leaves, and algae. Stops occasionally at the top of water line to use the soft brushes to clean the scum line. It’s completely nonexistent. Can’t say enough good things. It attaches easy and quickly. Starts clearing the debris and it’s quiet. The ease of cleaning the insides add to this high rating. Simple with only two locks versus the four on the others. We tried many times on an automatic pool vacuum. This puts others to shame. Quality, cost competitive, and WORTH IT! Recommend highly. The green is the fault is a new sand filter we haven’t mastered. Not this item.Update – be aware that the hose may become tangled with the machine found out (inadvertently) it floats to the surface when turned off. These are not flaws just things to know that we are learning. Adding, shipped faster than expected and came well packaged.Rob

I had the little brother of this pool cleaner for 7 years and just replaced it with the platinum series. Very well made and does a FINtastic job of cleaning our pool! It has been my experience over the past several years of owning a pool that there may not be a good robot pool cleaner. The concept of the robot pool cleaner is exceptional, as it can really be a time saving device However, most of the robot cleaners are very poorly made. Most simply go back and forth in the same area and do not pick up the debris in the bottom of the pool. They are extraordinarily expensive and they do not last much longer than a year. It is unfortunate that they are such a poor value. This particular robot cleaner is no exception. It is not a good value and it does a very poor job of cleaning up the pool debris. The only plus it has is that it is one of the least expensive cleaners, thus the only real reason to purchase it. I have owned 2 of these cleaners, thus I am speaking from experience. Moral of the story is that all of the cleaners are essentially junk, thus if you have to buy one, at least this one is the cheapest price.attyramsey

Bought it because of the price. Didnt like how it perform. The robot would get stay in certain areas of the pool. Doesnt clean the entire pool. The water pressure it uses for movement is pretty sub par that i see it struggling up a slight incline in my pool. I really wanted to like it. But it just wasnt cleaning well. Returned it after a few days and bought another brand with two rollers but double the price and completely satisfied with itKen

I'd probably rate this in-between "yes" and "no" for a recommendation. I've used it twice, and while it definitely saves time, in that I don't have to sweep my pool, it doesn't do a particularly good job of cleaning. Don't misunderstand: it does a good enough job, but it's not as thorough as a good sweep job. Then again, it's half the price of many other models. The unit seems to be very well made. The cord is long. The "assembly" and start-up is very easy. The insertion of the filter bags is very simple. As others have said, the unit does seem to float along the bottom a bit–not roll with it's wheels, like you'd hope–which means that it might not be as close to the bottom (and pick up as much dirt and debris) as you'd like. Granted, we live in Albuquerque and it's windy here, so we almost always have a bit of dirt on the bottom of our pool. This isn't a bad unit at all, but I'd definitely say it's a "starter unit." Overall, a good value, as long as it doesn't poop out on us after a year or two. If I get two years out of this, then can afford a nicer, more thorough unit, I'll probably do so.hickmanbunch

Have had my Tiger Shark for about 8 years and ready for something new. I was never really completely satisfied with the way it cleaned my 18 x 32 inground pool. Goes over same area continuously, and skips other areas completely where dirt has accumulated. It worked better when new, perhaps it’s just worn out. Very, very heavy to lift out of pool, and the cord is so tangled, even though I turn handles everytime I put it in the pool, as recommended. On the plus side, the cartridges are very easy to clean, and setting it back up to clean is easy. Hayward needs to redesign the Tiger Shark with swivel cord and easy lift.Carmen V.

Had it a week and pool never been so clean. run 4 hours a day for 5 days so cannot yet comment on reliability. Good points, cleans well without damaging liner in any way, filter is easy to remove and clean, good fun to relax and watch it make random choices about where it will go next. Bad points: it cannot quite take the algae out of the rounded corners of the pool although that might just be because its random movement pattern has not taken it there yet (suspect I will have to resort to a hand held/operated brush)2012expiredroadracer
