Best Bike Helmet Virginia Tech (2023 Update)

Great helmet. Looks a bit mushroomy if you don't get the size right. Sizing also a bit strange in my opinion so I had to return for a smaller one, but I am not an expert and I know the product designers at POC are. However, despite the product, I'm not really satisfied with shopping at pocsports.com as returns are handled "on your own". It cost me 27€ to return as there are no pre-paid labels or customer paid labels with POC's freight partner. None of POC's competitors manage to mess returns up that bad. Please fix it, POC. I hesitate order from pocsports.com simply because returns are costly. Better to buy POC products from resellers with free or cheap returns.Isak H.

This helmet is lightweight and extremely comfortable. I would give 5 stars, but the straps around your ears are unable to be adjusted vertically — adding more length to create a larger loop. You can however adjust the the retention straps horizontally, moving the plastic adjustment tab back and forth. I think I’ve found a comfortable setting. Another great feature is the fine tuned adjustment of the spin system and its adjustment dial to disperse pressure evenly around your head. Other helmets I’ve worn create pressure points leading to headaches, this helmet is the exception. So far I’ve put about 100 miles on the helmet and I’m loving it!Jake Y.

Was time to replace my old and beloved Kask helmet and wanted something with MIPS so thought I'd give this a try. Fit wise I am normally on the border of M 54-59 / L 56-61 helmets so bought a medium POC which is supposedly designed to span these sizes. I'd say it fits but it's snug, and if you have a rounder profile top of your skull that will make a difference no matter what the diameter of your head measures. I considered getting a large but I see people wearing these down at their eyebrows and I think this is probably why-I prefer to have that inch above my ear-line for glasses and general fit. So, it fits, it's comfortable, but requires a bit of dialing in each ride, no matter if you are wearing a hat or not. I also noticed that the shape of the helmet rim interferes with your cap brim when you put it up-the brim pushes against the helmet which overhangs and isn't great. Smaller, curved profile helmets like Kask don't impede like this. Finally, the MIPS attachment points are hard plastic circular tabs and again, the shape of your head and length of hair come into play here as without a hat if you have shaved hair you will most likely feel them against your skull and that isn't the nicest feeling and leaves a mark. With a shaved head I'd only wear this helmet with a cap as a result, but if you have longer hair it probably won't be an issue. So, looks good, quality construction, but small niggles with fit that you may or may not find annoying.Griggsy

A helmet isn't any good if it doesn't fit! Before this helmet, if I did find anything that fit, I would have to fill the empty spaces with sizing pads and spend quite a bit of time adjusting the straps to cradle my cranium without overlapping the ears or getting in the way of sunglasses or whistling in the wind. The dial adjusts the fit in seconds. The straps don't interact with the fit…their only function is to hold the helmet on your head, which made it possible for me to get those adjusted in just a few minutes. There are a couple of hidden advantages to the dial adjustment that I should mention. 1) Without the foam sizing pads to absorb your sweat, you can wear your helmet with less stink. 2) If you have short hair but don't get a haircut for a few months, it can change your hat size. A quick turn of the dial corrects the fit in moments. About the sizing… This helmet is sized by head circumference. With my Smith ski helmet, since my head circumference was at the upper limit of the large, I got a large. That made the fit too tight to wear a balaclava under the helmet. Because of that, I got my bike helmet in extra large. Other things that matter less than fit… It looks nice, but I don't care about that. It's lightweight, but I don't care about that either. It's well ventilated, which I care about, but the ventilation isn't what makes this helmet stand out.Happily Helmeted

Needed to replace my old Specialized helmet and the Smith Signal Mips helmet was the best one I found that balanced safety and price. It has the Mips technology and was only $109.99 compared to most other Mips helmets which are more than $150. The fit is great, is easy to adjust and is super light. One reason it may be cheaper than other options is that it’s not a full shell (you can see the foam is exposed at the bottom) but as long as you don’t throw your helmet around you should have no problems. My old Specialized helmet also wasn’t a full shell and it cost $150 five years ago. Bottom line, great helmet, great price. You can spend more if you want but I think this is an excellent choice.Jason W.

Smith Optics MIPS bike helmet – great alternative to this POC Ventral Air Spin if you ever are tight on money. The comfort level is in my opinion the same as the POC. They have MIPS if that's important for you. The only possible disadvantage is the air flow with the vent design that they have if compared side to side – you may have a bit more sweat in this one but overall still a great bike helmet. The vents are just openings to a portion of your scalp instead of a real vent where air flows through above your head. I got this in M for a 57cm head. The dial is great for adjusting.Tiffany I.

Glad there was a 30 day free trial policy with these helmets. I bought a medium round-fit version direct from the Trek Store. This helmet is good looking, good fitting, highly adjustable. I does not make you look like a mushroom. The standard fit in M was a bit tight around the back of my head, the round fit was perfet for my roundish 58mm head. The bad thing about this helmet is the lack of air flow due to the wavecel honey comb. Heat can escape by radiating out through cells, but I could not feel airflow over my head on my warm , climbing ride using this. My entire head and face were hot and profusely sweating during my climb. Even on the descent, I could not feel any significant air flow. The temperature was upper 70's. If you ride in cooler weather and don't often go above you anaerobic threshold, then this helmet would be just fine. If you push hard on your rides and ride in warm /hot weather, there are better choices. The design could be improved by removing parts of the wavecels directly under the vents and creating some internal chanels (there are none- your head is in full contact with the entire helmet interior- another heat trap).lread

This is a perfect fit helmet for ROUND head. I am Asian and I have a very round head. I always have to go up 1 size than my head measurement for regular western market (North America, Europe) bike helmet as they are too elongated oval shape. There are always gaps in the front and back of my head when I had to go up 1 size, it was never a good fit. But since this helmet is much rounder in shape (wider in width and shorter front to back). I bought the size of my head measurement and it fits perfectly. It is also very lightweight and have great ventilation. My head circumference is 55cm and I bought size S/M 51-58cm (printed on helmet).PinkBear

So I purchased this pretty much exclusively because it was the only bike helmet that fits my big head. My fitted ball cap size is 7 3/4 to 7 7/8 and prior helmets felt tight. This XL helmet @ 23.6 to 26 cm Is quite comfortable, I’m pleased with my purchase and while neon green isn’t as cool as white or black, it’s all about being seen and hopefully not getting squished like a bug by the growing number of distracted drivers out there. I purchased this helmet specifically because I was looking for an easy way to helmet-mount my gopro for commuter rides. When I saw the helmet had a BUILT IN mounting system, i was immediately sold! The rear mount is perfection. Seriously. It's very sturdy and you have to really try hard to get it off – it's not falling off on accident. It's great to affix trek/bontrager flare rear-lights on. The Top mount, is pretty awful. It doesn't hold whatever you've screwed into the mount stable/stead. It is secured so loose even with fully tightened, that the thing you've mounted (flashlight or gopro) will just limply fall forward and point straight down. Useless for a headlamp or a gopro. Utterly useless. It's because the mount is not actually threaded. It's cheap plastic and the screw they supply is self-threaded with a nut – as you screw the screw the nut tightens against it…this design doesn't get the job done. Not even close. really upsetting to me that Trek put something this poorly designed out there – it had so much potential to be the answer to helmet mounting lights and action cameras! I DO like that both mounts are able to be quickly removed if needed – you can right without them. They are secured with strong magnets and not going anywhere unless you want them to. This was a great design. If only this greatness carried over to the top mount! The wavecell seems like it really would help protect you in a crash and take some of the torque and impact off of your brain. The BOA tightening system is fantastic as always, allows you to literally dial in how tight you need the helmet to fit. Sometimes the plastic of the BOA system rubs against my head and causes pain, but that's really just an adjustment issue. Overall: The helmet is great. The rear mount is great. The BOA and Wavecell are great. The helmet is beautiful and looks pretty slick. The colors are great. But the stupid top mount is awful awful awful. It's not a bad helmet at all. I'd buy it again just for the rear mount feature. But if you're buying this to use for mounting a headlamp or gopro like me.. you'll be disappointed.Lazer

This helmet saved my head twice in 14 months (yes, I replaced after each ac ident). I was hit by car the first time then had a bad spill that put me in intensive care for three days. In both cases I broke bones (lots in the second one) and in both cases my helmet was damaged but in both instances CT scan showed no impacts to my brain I was 75 and 76 respectively when these accidents occurred. I am still riding and was within a month of my second accident took a bike trip in Nova Scotia. The third of these helmets was on my head on that trip and every ride since. I won’t bike without it.LarryB

Realized recently my old Circuit helmet needed to be replaced. Finding that helmet to begin with was an arduous process–I definitely have a 'long oval' head shape. Most helmets are too round and I have to choose between migraine headaches or looking like a mushroom. The Circuit fit perfectly. I was very pleased, then, to see Bontrager had just released an updated Circuit. Things I like: * The shape of the helmet, which continues to fit my head well. * Boa ratchet on the back. Creates a secure, comfortable hold around my head. An improvement on the Headmaster ratchet. * The overall look of the design, especially the top and rear of the helmet. * Improved safety from the wavecel Where the jury is out: * The heat of the helmet in peak summer. Have only been using it in the winter without any overheating issues. We'll see how this–and I–hold up in 90 degree summer temps.By JimmyB

I know my title sounds bizarre, but hear me out. I have a hard time finding a helmet that would comfortably fit my slight larger head. Also, depending on hairstyle, typical helmets feel cramped, tight, and hot even with the highest level of adjustment. This one feels comfortable instantly. This is the first time ever I had to make the helmet tighter in order to fit my head perfectly. I can't complain since there is enough ventilation, even on these super hot days, to keep my head perfectly temperate. If you have problems with sizing of helmets, I would try this helmet first. The other thing that's super cool about this helmet is that your helmet is also a turn signal from the back. Very useful when riding around.S.N.

The helmet was purchased for my girlfriend. I was worried it would be too big but it was just ok. Almost too small. For people with "big heads", probably a good idea to size up. Quite light but not as much as other quality brands. The lights are quite easy to set up. Bright enough to be visible but be warned the front light is not to see in the dark; just to be visible and security purpose. The quality of the materials is impressive. I feel this helmet will last for years! Excellent choice for security and comfort.Martin C.

This helmet looks very sleek and makes you visible in the dark from all sides, but note that the front light is not meant to be used as a torch that brightens up your path. The app is cool, but I customised the light patterns just once and have never used it again (which is a good thing, in my opinion). This was expensive but I wanted a good helmet. This afternoon I accidentally left my helmet on the back of my car when I drove off. It subsequently got dragged down the street ,for about a 1/4 of a mile, underneath two different cars. I was sure it was toast and I was so bummed after spending that much on a helmet. When I finally tracked it down it was in almost perfect condition!! Some black marks in the top that mostly came out with a wipe down and a little wear and on the outside edge but structurally still perfect. I can't say enough good things about this helmet. It's comfortable, stylish and loaded with great features. I am always pinching myself with the cheap plastic clasps that come with other helmets, so I really appreciate the Fidlock magnetic clasp that snaps almost automatically under your chin. The BOA dial on the back of the helmet does a great job of securing it to your head in a comfortable way. The liner does a great job of keeping sweat out of my eyes. Overall, super happy with this purchase. There are a few negative reviews outlining two criticisms that I wanted to debunk here: "The helmet is heavy" – it is not heavy. I don't understand this feedback. I can't notice any difference between this helmet and my other two. "The Wavecell technology prevents airflow" – no, it doesn't. It's fine. I rode with this helmet on a 90 degree day and not once did I say to myself, "my head is hot because of wavecell." My head was hot because it was 90 degrees out.By Rick

Look, the only way I can "really" review this is after it's been used for its actual purpose, right? Hopefully that won't happen, but it replaces a previous MIPS that I still got a mild concussion recently. Definitely blocks airflow and unfortunately I am blessed with sweating primarily from the head. We'll see. Heavier than most. I broke my wrist the day before receiving this helmet so I haven't had a chance to ride with it yet. But what else are you going to do with new gear when you can ride except wear it around the house? The helmet is light, very comfortable and fits my head perfectly. I really appreciate the extra sets of pads to tune the fit but it was perfect out of the box. I love the magnetic clasp! Way easier to use than a D-ring. My only grip is with the finish. It's a grey helmet and the colours and designs are just decals applied on top. The decals are applied imperfectly causing bunching and have little bumps where dust got under in the factory. There is plenty of 'flash' – extra bits of plastic from moulding the plastic exterior that stick out in the air vents that just contributes to a cheap look. There's absolutely nothing functionally wrong with the helmet but with a price tag that elevates it even above many motorcycle helmets, I'm very unimpressed with the finish.Brad E.

I love everything about this helmet. I’m right on the edge of sizes. Went with the smaller one and swapped for the thinner included cheek pads. A little tight getting it on, but no different than a motorcycle helmet in that way. Once on, I hardly notice it’s there. Did a 3 hour ride the other day with lots of climbing too. I’ve had a couple of trips over the handlebars already and loved the security of knowing my head (face, ears, lower back) is in a cage. Only things to be aware of: • I haven’t ridden in the summer yet • can’t where my airpod pros under it. They get knocked out when I put it on and if I do the work to get them back in, it’s not comfortable. My aftershokz headphones would be worse.CHRISTOPHER C.

Great helmet. I have about a 58cm head and am usually straddling between medium and small but decided on a small for this TLD helmet. At first I could barely get it on n was a bit worried but once I’d swapped out all the padding and replaced them with the small profile sizer it made it slightly bigger and now fits like a glove. It’s super light on your head and has more than enough ventilation for hot rides. You get loads of pads to full size up or down in specific areas depending on your fit. Also you get a shed load of stickers including a blood donor one which is handy as I know my blood type from regularly giving blood. Also comes with a super nice helmet bag to keep it fresh and scratch free. Ps, really impressed with the magnetic buccal chin strap, easy to put together due to the magnet and also really secure. Buy a TLD helmet, you will love it!JJ_Law

Great fitting, well venting helmet. Great color selection. I haven’t had any issues with “hotspots”. Love the lower coverage without added weight or bulk. Long list of Smith premium features. Helmet overall is good-looking, seemed well constructed and would do its job in a crash, was light, and fit was correct, but the rear tabs that press into the back of your head when tightening the band simply hurt. The contact parts are hard, ridged plastic that dig into the skin. See photo in Kevin in Milwaukee’s review that I should have paid more attention to prior to ordering. Note the lighter grey ridged parts in the middle and ends look like they might be soft rubber… they’re not. Why Smith didn’t make these padded or at least some soft compound is beyond me. Can only imagine how uncomfortable this helmet would out on a trail. This was the first Smith helmet I’ve tried and this was a dealbreaker. Perhaps they only had pictures of pretty people with long hair flowing out the back of their helmet in mind when designing? Bald dudes, stay away! Hair like Swayze, may be okay.James R

I really wanted to get a MIPS cycling helmet since I got a new mountain bike 🙂 I ordered the medium b/c according to the measurements I was just barely into the medium range…but when it arrived, it was just too big…not able to dial it snug or anything…so my husband got a new MIPS helmet, which was fine. I knew I was one of those "in between sizes" when I ordered it…So I ordered a small and am thrilled with it. It is a snug fit but after riding for several sweaty hours it didn't get "too" snug…which was a concern for me. It feels super comfortable and I forget it is there. I have pulled off the visor on helmets in the past b/c they were useless…but this one actually WORKS…so it stays! and I am glad to have it.Suzy D

Took a hard fall off the edge of a trail on a night ride last evening. I cartwheeled down a 20? bank that was nearly vertical. At the bottom my head smashed into a rock, right behind my right ear. The extended protection on the back of the Forefront 2 took the blow. I?m pretty sure that at the time of impact the helmet?s MIPS system kicked in(?) The impact with the rock wasn?t entirely perpendicular, more like a 50 to 60 degree glancing blow. On impact I could hear bones cracking, it?s an awful sound, I think every vertebrae in my upper back cracked as at once!? But it was that extended protection ? that?s what I believe allowed me to ride out?yes, I finished the loop, despite the concussion?dumb?I know. When my girl friend and I got home we compared where my road bike helmet to the Forefront 2. The road helmet just doesn?t have the same protection in that critical zone, it wouldn?t have blocked the impact as well, if at all? The stone would have gotten under the helmet. Up until last summer I always rode with a road bike helmet. So grateful I received a Forefront 2 as a gift from my girl friend?we?re definitely buying another one!Mya S

Definitely worth the $$. I've tried a couple different helmets, most recently the Bell Super series and also the Giro Tyrant. The Forefront is the lightest, most comfortable helmet I've ever worn. Fit is easily adjustable via a little knob. The chin strap is simple and uses a traditional clip buckle. I appreciate all the venting, and that the venting has a honeycomb mesh that will keep the yellowjackets from my scalp. The little groove for your glasses is handy. Hopefully the MIPS and the Koryod and all that tech spec blah blah will do the job as needed should my head smack the ground.Catharine

Me- avid rider with decades of cycling experience. Went through a lot of helmets from Giro, Specialized, Bontrager to name a few brands. Bought size "M" for my 59cm head. Fit: true to size, sits on my head without any complaints. Ventilation: Great in hot & muggy Texas conditions. The crash compound tubular structure keeps insects, spider webs, flying dirt and gravel, branches, out for most of the helmet's ventilation openings, only the central vent lets them in which is still a big advantage over most other helmets. Weight: Excellent, you almost don't feel it. Integration of sun-glasses- haven't found the right holes for my sunglasses yet, neither in the front nor back. Crash behavior: Well, fortunately haven't crashed it yet; have to believe in test results. But the construction looks really promising. Durability: Because of the low weight of this amazing helmet the components of the width adjustment look very tiny, I hope they last.Racing Ralf

I read the reviews on this helmet and compared it to other mountain bike helmets. I really miss the Mavic helmets that MEC had provided, but none were in stock. So, after reading the reviews and having it on sale, I took the chance and went for the Smith Convoy MIPS helmet. Here's my experience with it after 3 long rides on my head: Quality: ———- – It's a pretty nice helmet. – Too bad it's not matt color. I got the black one and the gloss does make it shiny and does look cheaper as compared to my Mavic helmet that is matt gray. – As other reviews has pointed out, the bottom edges of the helmet is not laminated like the top parts of the helmet. So, the Styrofoam on the bottom edges can get dented or damaged easily. – The quality of the straps, MIPS, padding, and rear adjustments are really good. The turning knob for the helmet adjustment can be easily adjusted by your thumb and index finger with one hand operation on the go, unlike the Bell Super 2 helmet. – The visor is fixed and can be a problem if you want to push it up. I don't mind it in one position. Fit and Comfort: ——————- – I got a small head, so I got a small one. Most helmets will fit my head properly except for Bell helmets. However, the Mavic helmets look great on me since the molding is a lot slimmer to my head and the helmet doesn't make me look like a mushroom head. The Smith Convoy helmet is not contoured as well as the Mavic helmet but it's not bad. It sticks out a bit more on the back as it's got a bit more space and foam towards the back of my head. – Initially when I put on the helmet, the MIPS do roll a bit on the head as you tighten the adjustment knob. The helmet is very comfortable and has the same great feel as the Mavic helmet I'm replacing. It feels like nothing on your head, which is great since you don't want a lot of weight or a feeling like there's something on your head while you're riding and bouncing around on the bike for many hours. The helmet's padding on the MIPS interior is really good quality and stays in place. The helmet can accommodate a headband that I normally wear and the back retention adjustment can be adjusted high to low to accommodate the knot from tying up my headband. – On the trails for my 3 long rides in FCP, NHP, and Bowmont/12-Mile Coulee, the helmet was easy to adjust and it stays on my head without any pressure points and it just feels great! There are lots of big vents to cool my head and I'm just really happy on this purchase. The helmet is light enough that your head is not weighted (like the Bell Super 2 even without the face shield). All in all, with a couple of minor quibbles, I really like this helmet. I think it's a great purchase as it's not expensive. This helmet also has the MIPS protection. A lot of other helmets with MIPS seems to run well over the cost of this model. So, this helmet with pretty good looks and great comfort in addition to the MIPS protection fits my bill perfectly.CSharp

My wife and kids always wear their bike helmets. Dad however owns a helmet that never gets worn. For years it lived in my biking backpack. When asked i could say “yep i own a helmet”. Occasionally my wife would scold me for owning a helmet and not wearing it. Last month we were out on a ride and i caught some loose gravel and almost went down. The wife shamed me into putting my helmet on. Well go to find out the helmet in my bag was a bit small for my head. Next day i ordered a smith convoy in hornet. It fits great. Has plenty of airflow and will actually protect my head since i wear it.Ricky

I wear glasses that sit right below my eyebrow “bone.” The helmet comes to slightly above that point. If you have glasses that are higher than this or want to put on large sunglasses that go higher, you may have an issue. Otherwise, I love that the dial to adjust the size sits quite a bit below the back helmet edge and my pony tail can fit between the dial and the helmet edge. Not sure how cool it will be in summer, but it adjusts very well. I like it so far. I tried to attach a communication device (headset/speaker for intercom) to the visor but it was too heavy and dragged the helmet onto my glasses. So I needed to move one back and d/s tape itWaterloo

I always dismiss reviews that are based off of fit. However, in this case, the small is too small and the small/medium is too big. If the adjustment barrel could just turn one more revolution, it would fit perfectly. I do like the helmet, though. I love the style, venting and looks.Jim H.

Ordered two Z1 in Flash Yellow for road cycling (wife and I). We've had them for a couple of months now and find the Z1 to light and comfortable on our rides. Easy to put on and secure. And find there is plenty of ventilation on a sunny warm day in Souther California. Prior to purchase, we saw a couple cycling on the opposite side of the highway, donning a similar helmet in Flash Yellow, which really stood out from afar. We are extremely pleased with this purchase and recommend this helmet to friends and family.Tom M.

The Z1 replaced an old worn-out helmet from another brand – and the difference is amazing, to be fair though in the twelve plus years I had the old helmet technology, form, and function have progressed across all brands. That said, a helmet with the MIPS system was necessary, and this one received a 5-star rating from Virginia Tech. The new lid needed to be light, sleek, and stylish and it ticks those boxes as well, even making this sixty plus year old feel fast, but the ease of adjustment with the external roller, rather than those fiddly wheel-adjusters at the back, sealed the deal. Had this for a few years, but have been dealing with the inner pads coming apart for over a year. I'll admit I sweat a lot, but I've got a much older Bell helmet that's seen longer use, and its pads aren't disintegrating. Might have been unlucky, but I guess I expect more from a $200+ helmet. I bought the Smith Session about one month ago and have loved using it. The finish on the product is really nice to the touch and feels high quality. The 3-position visor is great for storing glasses or goggles and also is great to flip up when you're climbing through a shady trail. The only point of complaint is the lack of padding, as many reviews denote. It could use a bit more padding on the rear but wasn't big enough of a drawback to downrate it. I wore this helmet about 20 times before taking a direct head impact on a gnarly downhill section. While I was bummed that I only got a month's use out of it, the helmet took an impressive impact. Just a little shaken up, I came away without any major injuries. I could tell the MIPS played a big role in the angled impact. The koroyd collapsed on either side of my head denoting that the helmet absorbed and dispersed the energy.par115893836

Helmet overall is good-looking, seemed well constructed and would do its job in a crash, was light, and fit was correct, but the rear tabs that press into the back of your head when tightening the band simply hurt. The contact parts are hard, ridged plastic that dig into the skin. See photo in Kevin in Milwaukee’s review that I should have paid more attention to prior to ordering. Note the lighter grey ridged parts in the middle and ends look like they might be soft rubber… they’re not. Why Smith didn’t make these padded or at least some soft compound is beyond me. Can only imagine how uncomfortable this helmet would out on a trail. This was the first Smith helmet I’ve tried and this was a dealbreaker. Perhaps they only had pictures of pretty people with long hair flowing out the back of their helmet in mind when designing? Bald dudes, stay away! Hair like Swayze, may be okay.James R

I really wanted to get a MIPS cycling helmet since I got a new mountain bike 🙂 I ordered the medium b/c according to the measurements I was just barely into the medium range…but when it arrived, it was just too big…not able to dial it snug or anything…so my husband got a new MIPS helmet, which was fine. I knew I was one of those "in between sizes" when I ordered it…So I ordered a small and am thrilled with it. It is a snug fit but after riding for several sweaty hours it didn't get "too" snug…which was a concern for me. It feels super comfortable and I forget it is there. I have pulled off the visor on helmets in the past b/c they were useless…but this one actually WORKS…so it stays! and I am glad to have it.Suzy D

This helmet is really a great value. For me, the fit is spot on with lots of adjustability. The liner dries quick and the 1-handed buckle is next level. The adjustable visor doesn't get in the way when lowered and if I raise it, it stay's put. I've owned Bell, Giro, and Lazer helmets that cost more than $2x as much and this is the most comfortable/no fuss offering out of the bunch.Ben the biker

Helmet fits great with easy adjustment of the chin strap. The green color looks even better in person than on the website. Size charts on the website were spot on and very helpful when ordering from nutcase. The only negative was UPS shipping took longer than estimated.Bill M.

I originally ordered one of the street helmets which I received very quickly. Once I tried one I realized it wasn't the style for me so I returned for the Vio Adventure and I am sooo happy I did. I think I have a large head, but the s/m is the perfect fit. So easy to adjust and snap on. And it's light so I am not uncomfortable wearing it. Be aware that while the sun visor snaps into place, it falls off very easily, so keep track of it.Andrea

Very nice bike helmet ! This is the first bike helmet I have ever got! And I love how cool it looks and light weight it is! I absolutely love it overall and I feel so much safer using a helmet when bike riding. I love the color of the helmet and it also has light on the back of it too! I love biking. I love in a city with many bike trails and our favorite family activity is going for bike rides. We always wear bike helmets because it is so important to wear safety gear when biking. I was really excited to wear a new helmet. The CM-3 Road Bike Helmet with Tail Light is comfortable and safe. It’s well padded and easy to adjust. The color is very pretty. I also loved the tail light, which can flash or stay steady. The only thing I really didn’t like was the shape. It’s not streamlined like other bike helmets but more bulbous. But the helmet overall is really excellent, quite comfortable, and light weight. If you ride bikes, be sure to wear a helmet. It’s important for safety.Goxplore

I received the CM-3 Road Bicycle Helmet with Tail Light to give my honest opinion. First, I want to say that this is my second bike helmet that I have had. But I am grateful for the opportunity to review the CM-3 bike helmet because I think it's vital for everyone to exercise. And bike riding is one of the best ways for us to stay in shape. But I remember being ashamed to ride my bike in my late teenage years because I felt bike riding was for children. However, when I moved in with my uncle, I would see him ride his bike even though he also had a car. I also noticed my uncle would make healthy fruit juice. But what I like about the whole experience is my uncle wasn’t ashamed of riding his bike because it wasn’t a form of exercise. Overall, what I am trying to say is we shouldn’t be ashamed of riding a bike at any age because bike riding is a great way to stay in shape. And also, having a CM-3 Road Bicycle Helmet with Tail Light will not only protect our head but the tail light helps bike riders to spot dangers. For these reasons, I recommend the CM-3 Road Bicycle Helmet with Tail Light to bike riders of all ages.Godson27

I will start off by saying I don't have a ton of time under mountain bike helmets. I only got into MTB a few years ago, and so far have used an older Giro, a second hand Fox, a Fly Freestone and now this A2. This helmet practically disappears once the cranks start turning. With all the rest, there was always something fiddly that kept their presence known at all times. I only have to mess with this one when I want to undo the buckle to take it off. Way more airflow than I have experienced so far! nice and cool! I'm not into shaving grams or racing, I didn't check the weight before buying. I'm just an old dude that wants his kit to be functional, unobtrusive, and look good. Obviously YMMV, but for me it works fantastically.Michael H.

Beautifully designed and really well made and burly, the A2 helmet is such a great fitting and great looking helmet. It's craftsmanship is second to none. I'm on my second one, due to a bad crash I took, that didn't even touch the helmet itself, but just the visor. I bought one in case they decided to get rid of this design, as despite being a little hot and not that great on ventilation, it's so sturdy and well built, that I was afraid on not being able to get another one. The only thing I'd have to hit it on is that sweat drips right into your eyes/glasses during hot weather. I tried the new A3 MIPS, which didn't quite fit right, due to the new dual sizing(eg. XS/S, M/L, ect.). However, I do think that the new forehead sweat diverting pad is a good touch on the new A3. I didn't care for the new magnetic buckle on the new A3 though-I want to feel and audible lock…. Overall though, I'll put up with the lack of a forehead sweat diverter, because I like the sizing and looks on the A2 much better. Great helmet and now the price came down as well, and they are giving you another spare helmet pad, just like the new A3 MIPS.Gregory C.

I found a helmet! I lost count of how many helmets I tired on (30?). None of them really fit my head, and/or the retention mechanism didn't clear my prescription glasses (Oakley Jaw Bone frames with Rx lenses). Jenson had a sale on these and I took a gamble…I'm glad that I did. It fits my head well, and the retention mechanism doesn't interfere with my glasses. The ventilation is way better than the helmet that it replaced. It feels light, especially since it has more rear head protection. The strap material is a little more coarse than I would like (I'm working on that). The strap splitters are nice. The retention system is a little tough to access in the furthest up and rearward position (not a big deal because I don't need to adjust on rides anyway). I got the M/L in silver. I would definitely recommend giving this one a try!Justin

I know my title sounds bizarre, but hear me out. I have a hard time finding a helmet that would comfortably fit my slight larger head. Also, depending on hairstyle, typical helmets feel cramped, tight, and hot even with the highest level of adjustment. This one feels comfortable instantly. This is the first time ever I had to make the helmet tighter in order to fit my head perfectly. I can't complain since there is enough ventilation, even on these super hot days, to keep my head perfectly temperate. If you have problems with sizing of helmets, I would try this helmet first. The other thing that's super cool about this helmet is that your helmet is also a turn signal from the back. Very useful when riding around.S.N.

The helmet was purchased for my girlfriend. I was worried it would be too big but it was just ok. Almost too small. For people with "big heads", probably a good idea to size up. Quite light but not as much as other quality brands. The lights are quite easy to set up. Bright enough to be visible but be warned the front light is not to see in the dark; just to be visible and security purpose. The quality of the materials is impressive.
