Poorly made and once you buy it, unless you dont ride it, you cant return it. No service in store. No help if there is a problem and this bike has a s ton of problems. The throttle only works when you are pedaling since day 2. The brakes do not stay adjusted. The seat post is awful to adjust to various heights and is the epitome of the poor quality of this bike top to bottom. Removing the front wheel to travel and re attach is most junky. WOW WOW WOW – I have always dreamed of owning an electric bike. This Schwinn bike does everything. You can peddle or not peddle. It has a smooth ride even when on bumpy roads. I am so impressed with this machine. It charges up quickly and stays charged for long periods. The size of it is good for me being 5ft 6inches and for my husband that is 6ft 1inches. We can both ride it. My husband weighs 215lbs and it rides just as smoothly as it does with me on it weighing 170lbs. It took about an hour to put together by the both of us. Totally worth every tightening of screw. It had some charge to it ready when we assembled but we put on charger for about an hour and it was roaring to go. I am just in love with this bike. I acquired this bike as a winter trainer and it has more than fulfilled my expectations. Delivery was very quick and well organised – I cannot remember buying a bike with less hassle. The bike itself is beautifully balanced and the geometry is well conceived. For a gravel bike it performs well on the road. The most notable feature is the splayed handlebars – the improvement in stability is remarkable. I have a prejudice agianst disc brakes but these are sensitive and responsive. Gear ratios are well chosen and the GRX400 is suitably robust for rural Wales. My only disappointment is the tyres. Brilliant grip but very soft and the deep tread picks up thorns. I have had 4 punctures in the first two weeks! Tubeless tyres may be a better option. But overall, I am delighted.Bob E.
Bought a L (6ft2) and its a great fit. I am on the way to achieving over 100km easily on a single charge using mostly level 1, and very seldom level 2/3 on steeper gradients. An average cyclist will easily keep the momentum just over 25kph on the flat sections, which means using less battery and getting far more than the advertised 75km range. It doesn't feel like 13.5kg of bike and rolls really well (almost as good as my Ridley Kanzo Fast Gravel). The motor is there to assist , and I find it especially useful on the stop/starts of gravel and bridleway riding. Sweet spot seems to be 18-23kph. Motor shuts down over 25kph and there is minimal drag when not engaged. This is not a big bulky Bosch style motor , its a gentle assist when you pedal at level 1 helping you go further with less fatigue. Use level 2/3 for short/sharp gradients if needed. Aim to keep your ride average just over 25kph and this will give you more of a workout than any standard gravel bike..in case you are worried what your mates will say about going for an e-bike. Great build quality and lots of mount points for luggage etc. Only change I made was better, more padded bar tape and Panaracer Gravelking SK+Tubeless setup (38")ceverson25
First off, love the bike! Everything in the bike works as expected. The ride is pretty smooth but I changed the tyres for commuting on path rather than factory tyres which can be noisy and slow. The position is really good for my commute 40 minutes each way. I used to do the same in my non e bike and at the end of the week the way home was tough… no more! Just press the button and let the bike take over or help. The GRX 600 train is so good. Really quick in transitions and the breaking power so powerful and responsive. My only small issue with the bike (and it might be a one off) is the attention to derails during the assembly. The two screws on the mech hanger were not properly tightened and resulted in some play after a few weeks. I also have some rattling noises from the internal cables. The most annoying might be the sensor cable running in the chain stay tube, it doesn't look like it is properly secured. It rattles against the tube on any surfaces that is not very smooth. For the discounted price I paid, I'm happy with my purchase. I have a concern right when it arrived that the box said it had 15.2 mile range and the website in several areas says 26. I contacted the company and was told the box was wrong. I also had an issue out of the box with the battery and was certainly not getting 26 miles (along with another issue) and they agreed to send me a new one. I have not received that new one yet but after sending pics and details they agreed to replace without issue and shipping takes about 3-4 weeks to get to the US. The height is good, materials seem very solid and strong Headlight is not very bright to truly cover the right area far enough in front of you so an aftermarket light is needed for true night riding The shifter was not calibrated when I got it so I had to take it in to a local bike shop to have that done I sure wish it had cruise control built in like the G4 scooter I also own! Im my opinion although the motor does get to right about 20mph as promised, the motor feels at bit under powered at times This is the same 350 watt motor from the G4 scooter and has far more weight so the motor just isn't as snappy to accelerate as the G4 and so I wish this bike was maybe 500W It was easy to assemble out of the box and I am enjoying this bike. I added the computer and rear LED light aftermarket along with the front light I mentioned I also had to change the seat, it just isn't comfortable… it's like a true street bike seat and for a mountain or all around bike that just won't due… way too uncomfortable. I wish it had water bottle holes to accept the aftermarket bottle holders in the seat post since it cannot have them in the main frame where the battery sits. There is no front derailleur just FYI… but I noticed that from the not so great website pictures and expected that. 7 speed.Shadyant
This is a great entry level ebike. The pedal assist is nice and goes about 40km(distance) as stated. The throttle does about 15km(distance) and I am about 170 and 6'0" tall. A second battery is a definitely a must if you're a commuter because this bike is too fun and being able to swap out the batteries for a full charge is great. This bike does has a few downsides. The number one thing I'd like to mention is the difficulty riding without any power. You simply cannot ride this if is not on or dead. It's too heavy and I'm not out of shape. Another thing is the fact that the fenders tend to give out after some time. About a few months in, the rear fender broke and ended up under the tire. I almost fell, but I seen it coming last second. I have seen a few people complain about the rear fender, so do yourself a favor and swap it for a better one. The shock absorber on the rear is more of a gimmick than a functioning absorber. I don't feel it absorb anything, but my behind does! Get a better seat and you'll notice a difference. I'd also recommended getting better lights as they just aren't bright enough at night. You can never be too safe, and adding lights to your bike makes it look more appealing. Overall I am happy with my purchase. As my first ebike, it is reliable and can withstand getting caught in pouring rain. Even when the fender came off, I just ripped it off and put it in my bag and was on my way. Underpowered and poorly geared. Dont assume you will do any real off road biking, perhaps some fairly level light dirt trails. God help you if you need to go up an incline. The gearing is such that the front chainring is 48teeth and the lowest gear in the back has 28 teeth. That makes it hard to climb any real grade. Motor is about the size of a 250w hub motor so its just labeled 350w. The brakes literally barely stop the bike. Except for its larger size (in case you are closer to 6 feet tall) the hyper bike is a better bike (even that is not that great but better) . Mine came with a broken shifter and the company literally has no replacement parts. I ordered one off ebay and called it a day. Very poor customer service.rsh

I wasnt sure what to expect out of this bike. Being new for this year the reviews didnt have much substance to them outside of first impressions. That being said I am thrilled with this purchase. The MX tire size makes this bike just blow through trails that my 27.5 would take a bit more piloting. Being torn between the Nomad and the Bronson I am glad I went with the Bronson. Its a much more versatile bike for the types of rides I go on. The only con I have is that I expected more out of the brakes. Maybe bleeding them will help but as of now its not the feel I expected out of them.Joseph
I have owned this bike for close to a year now and so far I love it! I opted for the moss green because I didn't like the matt finish of the yellow one. Working in a bike shop I handled lots of bikes with matt finishes and they are grease print magnets! Anyone wanting to buy a Bronson with the matt finish I suggested a full clear film wrap just because of this. First of all, this bike handles amazing with the MX wheel sizing. The suspension is smooth and plush with very efficient pedaling for a more gravity oriented bike. I am a disabled veteran so having a nice comfy ride that allows me to push my limits further is super important. I also bought the lowest spec R model because I wanted to build up the bike myself with custom parts over time. The 4 stars is because of some of the components that come on a over $5K bike. First off, I was surprised this bike came with only an NX drivetrain, while this is a great option for beginner riders, I do not think anything below SRAM GX or Shimano XT should come factory on a bike of this price. I shaved off over half a pound just upgrading the NX cassette to an X01 cassette. Another issue I had was with the brakes, I may have just gotten defective rotors, but it felt like there was sand in my brakes from day one. On closer inspection I found little pot marks or pin holes along the very edge of the rotors braking surface. These pin holes will probably go away eventually with wear, or I could sand them down, but I ended up just getting hope floating rotors instead (SRAM centerline rotors). My last complaint is a little more of a personal preference thing. I sized down to a medium frame even though I'm 5'10" and Santa Cruz suggests the Large at my height. Well the medium only comes with a 150mm travel dropper post. I have about 4 inches of dropper post body exposed just to have the seat high enough, and with it all the way dropped I still hit the seat a lot doing downhill rides. The way they designed the VPP suspension unfortunately does not allow for much seat post insertion depth. The only way I could find to get a longer post installed was the ONE UP dropper adjustable to 180mm. I'll only gain 30mm of travel, but I'll take what I can get. Oh, and the headset area creaks and pops a little bit while riding, haven't figured out a solution for this yet. It came with the cheapest cane creek headset possible, which I guess is at least better than a cheap FSA headset. Overall I love this bike, and it just keeps getting better with every upgrade I do. If you want an excellent bike right out of the box though and budget is no issue, maybe get a higher spec model.Trevor

This is my 4th e-bike over the last 12+ years. I have been riding a first generation "Dutch Style" crank drive for most of the time. I am a semi-retired electrical engineer. I purchased two RadCity 5 Plus Step-Thru eBikes: one for me and one for my wife. Pros: * Top quality construction and finish. * Comfortable riding position * Disk brakes are awesome and don't squeak * Perfect gear ratios: 2-7 is close ratio and 1 is low for good hill climbing * Tires grip well and are suited for gravel and mild adventure riding. Never drops below 60% after riding for several hours in very hilly terrain. * Powerful, smooth, fast, and quiet. (I ride motorcycles as well, so I like speed and handling) * Twist throttle is very responsive and great for starting off at traffic lights. * Excellent customer support So it's almost perfect. Here is a list why it's not totally perfect. Cons: * Needs a torque sensor. Any forward motion of pedals, even when coasting, engages the motor at a fixed output as determined by the PAS setting. It's either fully on or off. Kind of annoying at times, especially coming from a guy who is used to a crank drive. * Need a PAS of 2.5. Too large a gap between 2 and 3. * Brake lever finger distance adjustment can cause brakes switch to engage which cuts out the motor. Seems it needs a re-design similar to my motorcycles. * Better indicator of gear selection * Brighter LCD back-light display on left side control * The key should also turn off bike power. Anyone can turn it on and twist the throttle if the battery is present. * The step-through gap should be wider. I caught my foot in the bottom "V" and fell over when dismounting. My previous bike had a nice wide U shape to it. * A USB port should come standard * A chain guard would help keep grease off my legs and help protect the chain. All in all, I'm quite pleased. It's almost perfect. Fix the items listed above AND…I hope RAD decides to build a crank drive bike as they really are much, much better in terms of efficiency and performance. Price difference is narrowing between hub vs. crank-drive. My older 350W 36V crank-drive eBike climbs steep hills as well as, or better than the 750W hub drive on the RadCity 5 Plus Step-Thru. This is because crank drives are more efficient and don't have to work as hard as they take advantage of your gear ratio. Lots of fun in the neighborhood we live in. I use it for grocery shopping, lowes trips, restaurants trips and general exercise . I’ve had the bike for about 90 days and have 196 miles on it. It has replaced the use of my golf cart and 125 scooter for around the hood excursions (I’m gonna sell the scooter which is not a much fun as the E-bike). Due to the speed that I travel through our village, I wish RAD sold an integrated turn signal system for the bike similar to what is on my Yamaha Vino scooter. Pros 1. Extremely fun. 2. Electronic Controls are easy to use. 3. Shifting mechanism / system is very good. 4. Braking handle locations works well. 5. Handles the hills very well. 6. Very quiet (Excluding the basket rattle) 7. The throttle feature makes starting from a stop to cross a highway easy and safe. 8. Charging system is simple, quick and easy to use. Cons 1. Heavy 2. The frame flexes a lot side to side with a heavy load in the rear basket (as an engineer, I assume its due to the step through design and lack of upper support as typically found on a standard bike. 3. A little difficult and tight squeeze when stepping off the seat at a stop. 4. Brake handle arrangement is backwards from a motor cycle (Rear right, Front left). 5. Heavy breaking tends to generate noise at the disk area (not sure if this is normal) 6. Large rear basket rattles significantly when power assist is active (appears to be at the weld on upper tube loop) 7. Seat must be raised up very high to clear basket and lower back interface which makes stopping difficult since you must leave the seat and stand with both feet on the ground (Maybe I need longer legs, I’m 5’8”, I might fabricate an adapter to clock basket 90 degrees and shift rearward 1.5”).Bruce H.
Not the most sophisticated ebike, but definitely gets the job done. I wish Rad had been more transparent with their component selection. They really do a good job of making the Rad City 5 Plus really challenging to work on, not having component specifications for their own bikes and all. For the most part though, it's a solid bike with a 'Rad' branded Bafang motor on it. None of the replacement components are listed online. You have to go through their very hard to get a hold of customer support line to get any real replacement parts for your bike. And even then, they want to hold your hand and have you send in photos. As other ebike makers come online and start competing with Rad, Rad will find themselves in weird boat of either staying with the gatekeeping approach trying to keep on "open" system behind lock and key and then realizing their market share is dwindling, or, they can treat their "open" system open and let mechanics and users service their own bikes. They can't have both, because another company will offer better service with better documentation and easier access to parts that aren't gatekept. I bought the bike ignorantly and now wish I had ordered a Bosch, Fazua or STEPs system, since Rad wants to act like they're a Bosch or Shimano, but they ain't no Bosch or Shimano. Size – I want to throw out there that I'm 6'6" with a 39" inseam, and I weigh probably 230ish with all my gear on. The S6 is about just an inch short for me, but the bike shop says I can remedy that with a longer dropper post. Experience – I have ridden my 2022 Stumpjumper alloy (Black) S6 4-5 times now. Most of my riding is on moderate (blue) or difficult (black) trails with a mixture of flow/jumps and techy sections. Since 2009, I have been riding a Specialized Rockhopper base model. I didn't realize that it was an XC bike, and I was riding it like it was a class 4 trail bike. I abused the S*** out of that bike until the drivetrain and suspension were shot. Thus, the upgrade. With all that being said, I'm loving my Stumpjumper Alloy. It is an amazing difference. I will recommend if you have the cash, upgrade to the Stumpjumper Alloy Comp (assuming it becomes available again). For the following reasons: – My cable disk brakes on my rockhopper have less travel in the hand lever to obtain the stopping power you need. I dare say it might actually have more stopping power. New brakes will be one of the first upgrades. – I wish the drivetrain shifting was a little tighter and smoother. However, it has never slipped or failed to shift. I'm really nit picking here. Overall, it is a solid bike, and I don't regret my purchase. I would also recommend it to a friend. Just know the braking will take some getting used to. You can adjust the brake lever position which helps. Realize that you are getting a full suspension class 4 trail bike for less than $3,000. Great entry level bike.Jeff E.
I’m 58, 6’1” 180 lbs and purchased the S4 version of this bike. Tried the S5 but it just felt too big for me. I’ve ridden it now for almost a year mostly on local single track. I can honestly say that at my age the Stumpjumper has transformed my off road experience. The suspension is very supple and easy to adjust and the brakes have great stopping power and have worked just fine for me. The only issue I had with this bike was the rear derailleur which wasn’t very precise and skipped back and forth between gears a lot no matter how it was adjusted. Being a cheaper derailleur this wasn’t unexpected. I replaced it with a SRAM GX and those issues are gone. That is the only upgrade I would recommend out of the box. Everything else has been fine and I would highly recommend this bike to anyone on a tighter budget who still wants a high quality bike. I would certainly make this purchase again. Frame and geometry are exceptional. Brakes and rear shock… not so much. I bought this bike because I could not find a comp model anywhere. I rode the bike stock first to get a feel for how it was and it rode pretty good and I think someone lighter than me (230lbs) could easily ride it stock and enjoy it. The tektro bakes were okay but lacked the power I am used to- I immediately swapped on G2 RS brakes that I had taken off of my previous bike. The rear shock was okay at best- very hard to get to work the way I wanted since you can’t add volume spacers and there are very few adjustments. With that said I rode it for almost a year before upgrading to a Fox DPS performance elite which has transformed how the bike rides and rear end handles. The SX drivetrain is okay, just isn’t the smoothest or fastest shifting. The stock fork is actually not bad if you’re not picky. I immediately rebuilt mine with sks wipers, fresh fluid and lube. Every few rides I also use some wpo forkboost which helps with some of the stiction. I really like the stock tires. My previous bikes I ran minions and these have a little less grip but less rolling resistance so it’s a trade off. Overall this bike is great and in my opinion is worth upgrading and holding onto for a few years. Every single ride I come back to the truck grinning like an idiot from how much fun this bike is to ride.David
