I have recently purchased this product. More than I wanted to spend on a Hitch rack, but it has proved worth the price. I am very happy with the sturdy construction and the hitch tongue locking mechanism. The Pro's strong well put together, thoughtful design and easy swing away to open the hatch. Straps work well, as with anything you have a learning curve with putting them on and taking them off. When you have them on, they hold very well. I'm not sure about some of the things I have read about the straps, but they are a far better design than most racks in this range and they seem strong enough. The rack itself is built like a brick, very little sway as long as you have the bikes secure on the rack. Easy to utilize once you have put the straps on which is another learning curve. I typically hold two cruisers and I use the straight rods to secure on the rack. I would not be afraid to carry my bikes long distances and I will be doing this very soon. Cons, heavier than you think. Straps are a little tricky to put on and to secure bikes to (again learning curve) Caution when putting bikes on the first position as you have to get the frame through the latches. Can scratch up frames, but each carrier I have owned has lead to some scratches.Mack
I bought this rack in April 2020. There were four of us in lockdown, we all had bikes, and we needed a way to transport them if we wanted a change of scenery. The rack has been a mainstay ever since. Works just like advertised. The swing function is great. Installation is straightforward. Love the locking cable for added security when out and about with the bike on the rack. I read through many of the 1 star reviews as I am recommending this to a neighbor who asked me for the model. The only conclusions I can come up with for the poor reviews are (in order of decreasing likelihood): 1. User error 2. Newer ones are not made as well 3. I lucked out and got a peach instead of a lemon. Obviously, my vote is user error. It does take some effort to lock the stem into the trailer hitch but it is solid for me. Make sure you buy the correct sized product for your hitch. You do have to turn a couple of handle bars 90 degrees when loading up 4 adult mountain bikes. Have never had a problem with the straps. They are easy to use and keep the bike secure. Bottom line: my expectations were exceeded and I have over two years of regular usage with the utmost satisfaction.swmbkrn63
I got the product shortly after I ordered from Thule. Assembly is not very difficult, although there is a step missing as they don't tell you to use the flat key the first time that you need to insert the locks. Functionality is a mixed bag for two reasons: 1. the straps that keep the bikes on the rack are SUPER HARD to operate. You kind of need to choose between leaving them half loose at the risk of the bike falling on the highway or tightening the straps and being stuck as you will not be able to undo them later. I am considering throwing the straps in the garbage and replacing them with bungee cords. 2. The big feature of this "swing away" feature is that you can open the full trunk, unobstructed. This is true, except that when you are done and need to connect the arm back on the hitch, the sheer weight of the bicycles is pushing the arm down and not allowing the main bolt to go back in. You need to be fairly strong and push up the arm + bikes and wiggle with the bolt until you are lucky to find the threaded hole. It takes a ew tries and is a bit exhausting. So paying the extra money to have the swing away feature does not pay off. I would no buy this product again. The positive is that once you are done the bikes stay in place and the thing does not seem to move much.ddgzz

It's really really easy to start using, 2 bolts and it's attached. It's annoying that it constantly Amaris the backup camera but, it's easy enough to take on and off if it bothers you enough. We were a bit apprehensive at first, not necessarily with the bike trailer, but more or less with the 1.25 hitch that we had to opt for as the dealership misinformed us on the size of hitch compatible with outback.I am happy to report we have had no problems with the sturdiness of this bike trailer as we were afraid the 1.25 would result in a wobbly outcome. As other reviews mentioned the trailer itself was a bit difficult to assemble. However once assembled and loaded it was exactly what we needed. We are comfortably and securely able to load our 2 Trek bikes and have no problem with the arms or straps. The only complaint is the thickness of the pin used to lock the trailer to the hitch. Could use a better pin something a bit thicker and sturdier for it to feel very secure.JAAM
First off, I'll mention that assembly was a bit harder than I thought it would be. The long bolts connecting the two pieces of frame together took a bit of finesse (and a rubber mallet) to get them to slide in and line up properly. It helps if you take the part of the frame where they screw in (on the outer rail) off first and line that up separately. Once I figured that out, the rest was a breeze. I really like the ease of use with this thing – bikes go on and off in just minutes. Way easier than it used to be trying to squeeze them into my car. I also enjoy how light it is, and how quickly it comes on and off the hitch. Although the price is a bit high, it is well-made and worth it. Highly recommend.Nate
There are things I like about this rack, but I think it's quite overpriced for what it is. I found it easy to attach to the hitch and I like the overall design – the arms feel secure, I like being able to fold the rack easily, and it does hold my bike well. I was also able to use the farthest rack position as a makeshift bike stand while I did some work on the chain, which was handy since I don't have my own stand. However, for this price point, I expect more than to have to use my own cheap Velcro strap to secure a mountain bike with average/slightly wide tires. I'm not using some kind of niche fat or cargo bike here – why doesn't the Kuat come with an integrated, high-quality strap for this purpose or better yet, a design that doesn't require that extra step at all? I also find the ratchet strap for securing the rear tire to be poorly placed. You can't get the bike on the rack without crunching the strap down and having to yank it out from under the tire manually, which is definitely increasing wear and tear already. Finally, the lock that comes with the rack for securing the rack to the hitch felt very cheap and online reviews suggest it can be broken very easily (a problem when you live in a high-theft area, which is not Kuat's fault), but it did lead to an extra cost to buy a more secure lock. Long story short, I'm glad I have the rack and it gets the job done, but it's premium pricing for an average/good product. I can't give a 4 or 5 star review when the value is skewed like that. After going through 2 hitch racks thanks to being rear ended 4-5 times (big vehicles apparently can't see low hitch racks when parking, or just people in DC can't drive…), I was giving up on bike racks for my car. I had previously been told due to my Ford Focus' spoiler, a trunk rack was out, but then this model was released! I bought it, and am pleased to say it completely cleared the spoiler, with room to spare. We've also used it on my friend's 2017 BWM X3. It does not completely clear the spoiler due to the MUCH larger trunk size, but it does take pressure off the top straps and per Saris, shouldn't cause damage. A thing to note with 3 bike racks–they are a bit like tetris since the bikes sit so close. If you have 3 bikes, identically sized, all with racks and fenders… they may not fit without racks/fenders coming off and some weird maneuvering. On our last trip, we had 2x 54 cm bikes with racks, and 1 58 cm bike with no rack. The 54s went on the outside and inside, with the larger 58 cm bike in the middle. Handlebars crisscrossed over each other, around tires, and the racks. Rags and bungee cords were deployed to keep bar tape safe from rubbing on tires. So it WILL work. It might just take some time to get it right.Emm85
NOTE: You will need bungee cords or straps (not included) to keep your bikes' front wheels from moving around. I bought this after I had to start borrowing a car that did not have a hitch. I wanted a bike rack that was more versatile than my hitch-mount bike rack — something I could use on most cars. The Saris Bones EX fit the bill. I bought one of these and had to return it for another one due to Saris' poor quality control. A Committed To Quality card with a hand-initialed QC Check is included with each rack but the QC checks aren't being properly done. Even though they were brand new, the first one smelled like cigarette smoke and was really dirty. It was also missing one of the two strap management caps. The second one didn't have those problems but the ratchets were installed incorrectly so I had to redo them. The included instructions aren't very detailed so having the ratchets installed incorrectly added to the confusion of mounting this rack for the first time. The Saris rack is fairly sturdy but not as sturdy as my hitch-mount rack. But I guess that's to be expected of just about any trunk-mount rack. Still, I was disappointed to discover my bicycle, a Priority Continuum Onyx, didn't mount completely flush against the rack. The bicycle has a relatively standard frame but the seat tube has about an inch of space between it and where the hold down is attached to the rack. The hold down keeps it somewhat sturdy but there is that inch of space for movement. It seems like Saris could easily redesign the seat tube hold downs to better secure a wider range of bike frame geometries. The bike rack fit a 2018 Honda Fit well and it appears to be able to fit quite a wide variety of vehicle shapes. Overall, despite Saris' quality control problems and my bike not fitting snugly, I still recommend this bike rack due to it's ability to fit a wide range of car shapes.Sammy
The installation was so easy after an installation video. Is very sturdy with no shaking. Won't scratch at all. There was one concern then another arose after my 1-hour drive. First, I was not sure how easy it would be to steal this trunk rack. And, would love for this company to maybe provide a latch locking system because after I press to release the upper and all cords, it comes off easily. Second, the bike small strap furthest to the front crack right off. I thought it was too close to the end with nowhere for the bike to slide if the latch belt buckle strap was to break. So, mine broke and the bike held on by the last to latches. I would definitely buy a cord to secure the last two to prevent from bike falling off. I would want to exchange and extra cables and for it not to break so easily.miriam

Order and delivery within 3 days, nice! It would be helpful if the Saris website provide additional photos of the EX2 mounted on the variety of vehicles it is supposed to fit. One photo is worth 10 pages of written instruction. After a some fidgeting, I managed to figure out the best way to mount the EX2 on my 2022 Subaru Forester. The Saris web site states that the Hatch Huggers are required for the Forester but I found that these Huggers are really not necessary. Besides the Huggers are a pain to juggle while mounting the EX2 to an open door. Also, the $24.99 cost for these Hatch Huggers is questionable. Overall, the EX2 is a quality product and has a durable feel. The upper arm design to clear the door spoiler is great, well done. Mounting should become easier as the EX2 is used more often. Although I have not road tested the EX2 with bikes, I don't anticipate that there will be any issues.bikedad70
I'm using the Bones EX-2 on a 2018 Honda CR-V. I purchased the Bones based on various articles and reviews. I do not have a trailer hitch so that design was not an option. Based on the height of the CR-V and the need for all sorts of rails, a top mounted design was also not a viable option. So far, the EX-2 has met or exceeded my expectations. I did find that if you switch the positions of the inboard and outboard arms, the lower feet will clear the license plate very nicely and rest solidly on the rear hatch, while the upper feet provide solid footing on the rear window. I did find it very important to make sure that the straps are pulled TIGHT so the entire unit is secure. I will note that I am only transporting ONE carbon street bike on the BONES so I can't talk to fully loading the BONES with much heavier steel bikes. Additionally, I found that if you are not using the BONES, you can relocate the arms to an upright position and ON THIS VEHICLE, open and close the deck without having to remove the unit which is a time saver to get into the rear deck compartment. I had a hard time finding a bike rack for my little Honda Fit hatchback that wouldn't stress the spoiler. Bones EX-2 does the trick perfectly. Folding/unfolding is quick and easy. Two bikes strap on with no problem. Construction is super solid. I've driven 90 mph with two bikes strapped to it. No shudder or movement. No weird noises. Bought this a couple months ago, one of the parts (the lock for the hitch) was not machined properly, so I had to call Thule to sort it out. After a short phone call, a week or so wait, I got the part and was able to use it on a regular basis. Good customer service. This works well, some parts seems cheap due to the plasticy nature, but it is holding up well. I put this on a Ford Ranger, which is what they recommended, but when I open the tailgate it hits the rack, even when I have the rack at the lowest setting where it should be out of the way. I also like that Thule gave me time to use the carrier before asking me to review. So many companies ask for a review the day you receive it.Zappafeld
I was going to do a car top bike holder on my Thule roof rack but with an SUV, that just seemed like it would be tough with a large bike. Went with this instead. Fairly simple to put together and holds the bikes really well. As someone else said in a video, the locking mechanisms for the bikes themselves could be removed (while locked) by someone with an Allen wrench, but it’s a deterrent, not a fail safe. Don’t leave bikes unattended for long. The locking mechanism for the rack to the hitch, however, is solid. No easy way to get past that so I don’t worry about the rack disappearing overnight, even parked on the street. One negative with Thule, though, is their utterly abysmal customer support. I lost my keys on the first ride. That meant I couldn’t even remove the rack from the hitch. There was no way for me to be sure what kind of key I needed because the Spare parts page doesn’t list it. I emailed and waited. And waited. 8 days later, I got an email response. REI had already helped me out, thankfully, with their set of master keys and advice how to order a new set. But if you need help, CALL Thule. Don’t bother emailing unless you want ti feel ignored for over a week.Dando
Bought it for a move across country, and it held up through all the bumps and curves. It did the job, although it is one of the cheaper racks – so you get what you pay for. Has some plastic components and the way the arms work sometimes gets frustrating. We got our T2 Pro X a couple of months ago after getting a carbon frame mountain bike that couldn't be safely put on our old hanging rack. This rack is perfect for both our mountain and road bikes! I bought this bike rack with the 2-bike add on, and there are some things you should know before you do the same. Unless you're a big fan of Ikea furniture, in which case you'll be fine. 1) It's heavy. Like, really heavy. I ended up buying a wheel to fasten on the bottom so I could roll it around. If I had to do it over I'd spend the extra $250 to get the XTR, which already has a wheel installed. But it was such a pain to put it together I don't want to take it apart to return. If you have the four-bike set up, you need at least another person to move it around. 2) It's poorly engineered. As in, bolts don't line up with pre-drilled holes and key pieces are made of plastic. I stripped a couple of bolts and had to go buy extra because it doesn't come with extra hardware – I mean, for $1450… why would it? 3) The instructions are next-level terrible. I mean, when I finally gave up and Googled a 'how to' video, the first thing the person said was. "The instructions are terrible." Also there isn't an XT video anywhere to be found — just XTR. So prepare to take things apart and put them back together through trial and error. 4) If you're buying this rack because you want the flexibility to go between 2- and 4-bike set-ups… don't. Once it's set up for four bikes, it doesn't go back to two. I'm waiting for the kids to move out then I'll convert it just the one time. Now the positive… 1) The ability to stabilize and lock the rack on the hitch is a nice feature. Although the lock on the hitch also falls into the 'poorly engineered' category. I'm fairly sure it will stop working at one point and it'll be locked onto my vehicle. 2) The bikes are nicely spaced apart. And it's fairly easy to get in and out of the rear door without taking the bikes off. Bottom line, if you're looking for a 4-bike option that you put on your vehicle in the spring and leave it on until the fall, then this is an option for you. However if you're looking for something that installs easily, can go from 2 to 4 bikes, and doesn't take 4 hours to put together (counting buying the extra parts) — then keep looking my friends.MarkB
I've only had this bike rack for a few weeks and it's been perfect for us. Our hitch on an SUV didn't have room for a lock cylinder so the hook lock worked great. The bikes are se ure when mounted and easily moved out of the way to access the back of the vehicle. I bought a big cable to lock the bikes to the rack. Even if the rack came with little locks (it doesn't) I would still use the cable.Doc5605

This is a great bike carrier! I followed the Thule instructions for choosing an appropriate bike carrier for my car and I am very happy with this model! I have had this carrier for two years and it is holding up very well. I have driven hours and hours over all kind of road conditions and my bike always stays secure. The clips that attach to the car are coated to reduce scratching. The carrier is easy to attach to the car and easy to break down/store in the trunk. I am very happy with this product and would recommend to anyone looking for a well priced bike carrier! The only downside to this carrier is that it is hard to fit small frame bikes (like children's 24 frame bikes) on it. I can fit one small frame bike on the carrier, but not two together. Thule documentation claims that the Thule Passage trunk mount bike rack can be mounted on the back of a 2013 XC70 wagon. However, there are plastic lenses running along the top 80% of the sides of the back of this wagon. As a result, there is no where to attach the side straps. I have contacted Thule for advice. Meanwhile, the best that I can do is to use a homemade accessory strap as shown in the photo. Perhaps Thule should offer such an accessory strap.Joepnick21!

I want to give the bike rack 5 stars, but just can't. There seems to be a flaw with the handle or internal workings, that raise and lower the bike rack. First, the lever to do this, is really really hard to push in. Whether it's in the "close position" or ready to load a bike, the level is near impossible to squeeze to unlock to the next position. And when I do get it to move, it is not locking into either position. Very frustrating. Maybe it's a quality issue with the unit I received. I don't know.reking96
I bought this rack so I could take my bike on a roadtrip to AZ. It is very easy to assemble. Absolute breeze to install on the car. So easy to secure bike. All easily a one person job. We travelled 8000km through rain, wind and 45C heat and the bike was completely secure and caused no stress. Also loved that it easily folds down out of the way and tight against car when not in use. I purchased this rack brand new and found after building it that my 29 inch hard tail mountain bike could literally lift straight out of the rack with little to no effort no matter how i tried to position the arms. I tried a handful of other bikes with mostly similar results. I purchased this based on my good luck I have had with my T2 rack for many years. But this rack disappointed in every possible way. I don't think i have ever felt like I've wasted so much money before in my life. I purchased this rack, and after assembling it, I discovered that I can’t insert my locking pin into the receiver. Kuat offset the hole so the rack can fit into either a 1-1/4” or 2” receiver. You have to use the pin that comes with the rack, but you can’t lock the rack into the receiver. They give you a cable lock to lock your bike to the rack, but without a way to lock the rack to the receiver, a thief can just remove the rack, and a bike if it’s on the rack. What an idiotic system. I’m not a big fan of Yakima because their overpriced and the quality has gone downhill, but at least their adapter collar allows their 1-1/4 rack to properly fit into a 2” receiver so you can lock the bike rack into the receiver. You’re better off buying a Yakima.RadBean
I drove 200 miles to pick up my Transfer V2 two bike rack for my Prius, so I needed the 1.25-2" shank. There was one left, being held for me which was good service by REI. Upon returning home and assembling the rack (the instructions are good so it is easy, though takes time) I discovered that the shank, which is the male end that slides into the receiver hitch, was 2" and not what the box said. I called Kuat and explained the problem to Angela in customer service. She's sharp and grasped the problem, saying that somehow the incorrect rack was put in the box and she would have the correct shank sent overnight, not the usual "you should receive the package in two to three weeks" from too many companies, while you do without whatever it is. This was astoundingly great service from Kuat and by Angela. She is obviously a 'people person', as had been other customer service reps at Kuat when I had called for rack advice previously. Not just polite, but happily volunteering information and advice, no doubt reflecting management and owners. I chose the Transfer V2 on the advice of a Kuat rep and am very happy with it. The build quality is good, it is easy to use, and the built-in system to stabilize the rack in the hitch works solidly. I once owned a bike shop and have had numerous racks over the years, so have experience. I highly recommend this rack for a person who doesn't, for some reason, need the features of one of the other Kuat racks, but if they do choose another model I'm sure they will be just as happy.LouisG
Bought this today thinking I would be able to use it this weekend. One of the front tire cradle bolts was cross threaded when trying to tighten the puck. Called support and they were very responsive. A replacement cradle assembly and hardware is on its way. Also noticed rust coming out of the non-locking end on the U arm. Quite disturbing considering I’ve paid for a brand new unit in a sealed box. QC must have missed this one completely and wonder about factory’s storage (outdoors?). Non-locking end cap also broke at the screw hole as I tried to make it fit onto the U arm. Extremely tight fit. bought to use on a nissan versa hatchback. could not be more perfect for this car. very stable and solid feeling. I never worried about the bikes. on a versa hatchback the only thing to watch out for is the added weight to the hatchback. the hatch will slam shut if you let it with an empty rack on it. the arms fold down when not hauling bikes. a good feature but watch your head when closing the hatch. i take the arms off when not hauling bikes. It should be obvious but the rear wipers don't have room to swing with this installed but not a drawback. overall a great product.gmc4chas

Just recently purchased this rack for my daughter to take her new bike to college. Instructions were terrible. The guy from the bike store where we purchased the rack was kind enough to help us install. However, less than 30 minutes into her trip to school the straps began to come undone and the bike came off the cradles. Straps were tightened again and 5 minutes on the road later they had come undone again. Had to stop yet again less than 1 hour into her trip and purchase a bungee cord to keep the bike from coming off the rack completely. Also, the hooks that connect to the car have scratched the paint during first use. This bike rack does NOT keep your bike secure. Wish I had purchased a different bike rack.Upset dad
I bought this bike rack about a month ago to use on a 2015 VW Golf and it has been really excellent. I have only put 2 bikes on it so far but it is completely solid on short trips and when used for a 300mi trip I stopped to tighten the straps once to be safe, but it was still very solid overall. My biggest complaint is that the instructions for installing it are terrible. The instructions feature hardly any text, relying entirely on illustrations making it difficult to follow at times. It probably took an hour to finally get it installed properly. Also, tightening the straps (which is very important for keeping the rack sturdy) requires a good amount of strength to do, so I couldn’t tighten it as much as I’d like without help. Overall, it’s a good bike rack, but the instruction manual needs a major update.chelseat
I opted for the 3 bike option and, unless I remove the pedals off all my bikes, I will never be able to fit three bikes on the rack. Not only would the bike closest to my car scratch my car, it's already a tight squeeze with 2 bikes on the 3 bike option. The system is also really difficult to fit on most mountain bikes because the support buckles are so large, which is super unfortunate. We ended up having to get another bike because one of our mountain bikes was completely impossible to get on the rack because it's frame wasn't the standard "triangle" Thule assumes it is. It is also a huge pain that there is no built in way to lock it to your car (and the car lock Thule sells separately can be easily cut), so we have to disassemble it and put it away in our car every time we go on a trip so that we can be sure it isn't easily stolen. That's a big pain too. All that said, I'm glad I got this as it is going the job for now. But, I will likely consider upgrading to something more expensive because I am also pretty disappointed. The Saris Bones 2 bike carrier is small, lightweight, and foldable for easy storage between uses. It will fit on the back of almost any car of any size with it's adjustable straps and movable legs. I use it to carry one bike and it does it easily, I've never tried loading 2 bikes on so not sure how it would go doing that. I like the straps that it uses to lock the bikes in, they are easy to do up and undo, and feel like they would last a long time. The lightweight plastic design makes it easy to setup, dismantle, and adjust whilst on the car. I definitely recommend reading the instructions and also watching YouTube videos to help the first time you set it up, after that it's a breeze. I used the Saris Bones 2- Bike Trunk Rack to drive 2,000 miles from Denver to Orlando with my tiny 1991 Mazda Miata. The Bones rack worked perfectly. It never budged, shifted, or otherwise made me worry. The bicycle was a bulky square tubed Trek DS-2. I recommend putting felt down where the rack’s feet touch the bumper and trunk as it did visibly buff the paint. I had to get into my trunk 3 times on the trip, and each time was able to quickly remove and remount the bicycle rack and bicycle. I highly recommend this. My peak speed (unintentionally) was briefly 80mph with no adverse effects.
Easy to install and remove and a good solution for vehicles that don't have other rack bases installed. I have only a single complaint, which is that the leg that braces on top (by the rear window) has rubbed a spot on the paint in just two uses even though I cleaned the rack and the car carefully first. My advice is to install a paint protective film on the spot where it sits. Heck, even something easy to remove like blue painter's tape would work. REI should consider selling "landing pads" made by someone like 3M that can be trimmed and applied. Just a clear circle a few inches across would do. Otherwise, the rack has worked well for small kids bikes (20") up to my own 26" mountain bike and is very stable. When unloaded, I can open and close the trunk fairly easily also. The instructions to install are minimal, but it's a fairly intuitive system. Just make sure you are balancing the tension top to bottom and side to side.Jules

Was looking for a bike rack that wouldn't get in the way of opening my back Jeep door. Read the reviews and found this on sale. Great price. Installed in 15 minutes. Some people say that their bikes don't fit properly on this rack. My answer is get creative. I first tried it at the bike shop where I bought my mountain bike. I hoisted the bike and thought they're right, how's this going to fit? A sales guy approached and lifted the bike up putting one of the brackets on the tube that connects the seat and the other on the front v of the frame. It held tight and was very secure. I used the strap enclosed with the rack to stabalize the bike by wrapping it around the bike and rack. Bike did not wiggle or shake at all while driving. I've had two bikes on the rack several times with similar great results. And I like that the holding bar easily folds down tightly against the wheel when you don't want to use the rack. Have used it only once so far for a long road trip and so far so good ! But I must comment on the installation instructions. They’re so bad and Incorrect. One part specifically said based on your tire size, use these parts. It turned out it didn’t require any of those parts and it took and extra couple hours to figure that out- only discovered after watching a you-tube video. Secondly, the plastic “plug” for the lock portion was completely stripped while simply trying to take it out with a screwdriver, like the Instructions said. We had to completely rip apart the whole piece to eventually get it out, likely partially destroying it in the process. WHY would you make that piece plastic in the first place ?? My son purchased and used this rack for 16 months to transport his bike to/from college, and occasionally to bike trails. Yesterday his bike was on rack for two daylight hours before the included lock was pried open and his bike was stolen. Thule offers no warranty or theft assistance, unlike kryptonite who has a theft replacement clause on their high end locks(which he owns but wasn’t using because it was on Thule rack ready to ride that afternoon.) Don’t trust the included lock as it was pried off mid-day on a busy street. Don’t ever leave your bike on this rack and NOT have your car in motion! Don’t get me wrong, he loved the rack until he found out how easy it was to defeat the lock. Thule takes no responsibility, and said they would send the pried off lock pix to their product department. I bought this to replace an old trunk mounted bike rack I've had for many years that was difficult to work with and somewhat flimsy…and was skeptical about whether or not I really needed to buy another bike rack at all. I am very pleased with this Thule carrier because it is significantly more stable especially at high speeds while driving and is quick and easy to get the bikes and off quickly. Also, fitting the Thule to the car is very easy with the cleverly designed cable lock system that also doubles as a security feature so that it won't be stolen off your car. The only con is that it is a bit heavy and Bulky making it a little difficult to mount and unmount from the car and store. But, it can be folded flat for storage. There is also a cool feature allowing you to set the angle of adjustment specifically to your car so that when unfolding it from storage, you can set it up quickly to the exact fitting for your car. Overall, I'm very pleased with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a trunk mounted 3-bike carrier system that is sturdy and well made.MTB dude

Good value rack for the price! Bought it for my 2015 Nissan Rogue. Wasn't sure it would work but after some early struggles in just figuring out how to best place it on my vehicle, got it to work. Seems pretty secure. My bike doesn't move around. Rack will be easy for me to put on and take off now that I've figured it out. One complaint is the rubber straps – they're quite stiff when you first get them and clipping them on takes some figuring out and working the strips to make less rigid. Requires some hand stregth as well. Otherwise, easy to install and should work on most vehicles. Instructions are very good an easy to follow.FastFreddyG
Used it once, left dings and scratches on my car. And yes I installed it correctly per several Youtube videos, I even used a mat between the car and rack because I was already paranoid about scratching. In addition to that, the straps are nearly impossible to use. So if you are a glutton for punishment, love scratches and dings on your car, and want to spend way more time necessary struggling to get your bikes on and off a rack…buy this one. Otherwise, stay away. Wish I read more reviews. Brought it back to the store and got my money back, but those dings are there to stay.Hollylujah7
I had to return this. When I bought it, the box was a little banged up like someone else had returned it. I followed the instructions to the letter. At the last step realized that the wrap around silicone straps had not been included in the box. I tried to make due because I really needed the rack for the week. Loaded two bikes very carefully (took forever because two bikes don’t fit comfortably on this thing) and then I made sure everything was very secure with some extra rigging. Looked back there 30 minutes into the drive and my bike is at an odd angle. I pulled over just in time – it had slipped from the cushioned rest, or rather, the rest had spun around, the straps had loosened, and my bike half fell off. Never had this problem with a rack before so it went back.AnnewithanE

I was recently involved in an auto collision where my car was rear ended by an inattentive driver. On the back of my car was the T2 and on the T2 was my beloved C60. The impact of the collision was severe enough to deploy all of my car's interval safety devices. After I had settled down I went to check up on my bike; fearing the worst I was prepared to see a mangled up bike. I was not prepared for what I saw. The T2 was bent at a severe angle, the unused carrier trays were disloged and badly damaged BUT the trays where my bike sat were nearly intact. Except for some cosmetic damage, a mangled rear wheel and a broken rear derailleur hanger (my shop is currently inspecting the bike just to be sure) the bike appears to have escaped largely unscathed. Moreover, the body repair shop person told me that with the T2 absorbing the brunt of the impact, my car avoided more severe damage. So thank you Thule for making such a great product and thank you T2 for giving up your "life" to protect me, my car AND my bike.Just another cyclist
I recently bought the T2 Classic pre assembled from my local bike shop. My friends have the same rack on their trucks. I've used them many times. I love the fitment of the bikes. My wheelbase is 47" with 26" tires. After installing the rack on my truck, I found that my bike wouldn't fit. The back tire was sticking way off the back of the rack and the locking arm was nearly vertical. I checked the manual and it said that it will fit up to 48" bikes. I again checked the manual for fitment and noticed that the front wheel support cup was reversed for both bikes. So I promptly removed them and reversed them. My bike fits great now BUT one of the holes was stripped out during initial installation of the front tire cup by the dealer. Bolting into plastic isn't really the strongest support system. So now I need to either get a replacement piece or try to repair the one I've got. A simple solution would be to manufacture a third mounting hole which is not equal spacing from the other two holes. Then this problem would never happen. The wheel cup could never be reversed. But since this product has been manufactured for years, it's not really an option to change it. If the front wheel cup had a better mounting system, I would give this rack 5 stars. Easily adjustable rack. Such a nice addition to my truck.Colin

Well constructed and easy to put on and take off of full sized suv. The amount of rubber in contact with rear window and bumper on this model is far superior to less expensive Thule models. I bought this to replace an old trunk mounted bike rack I've had for many years that was difficult to work with and somewhat flimsy…and was skeptical about whether or not I really needed to buy another bike rack at all. I am very pleased with this Thule carrier because it is significantly more stable especially at high speeds while driving and is quick and easy to get the bikes and off quickly.
