For Prius owners seeking the perfect bike rack, there are a few key factors to consider before making a purchase. The right bike rack can make transporting your bikes easy and secure, while the wrong one may damage your car or fail to properly secure your bikes. When researching bike racks for your Prius, you’ll want to think about the rack’s attachment method, weight limits, bike capacity, ease of use, and any special features that may help keep your bikes protected.
Does the bike rack attach to your Prius’s roof, hitch, trunk, or trailer? How much weight can it hold? Can it fit all the bikes you need to transport? Is it easy to install and load/unload bikes? Does it offer anti-sway cradles, integrated locks, or padded clamps? Asking these types of questions will help you select a bike rack that checks all your required boxes. You’ll also want to ensure the rack you choose is compatible with your specific Prius model year.
What good is a bike rack if you can’t easily and securely transport your bikes? Will it be effortless or a major hassle each time you need to load and unload your bikes? Can you trust the rack to keep your bikes protected while driving at high speeds? A poorly made or improperly installed bike rack could even damage your car or bikes. Take the time to research how easy different racks are to use before deciding. Only choose an option that owners report is very user-friendly. You want transporting your bikes to be as smooth and secure as possible.
After considering these factors, you’ll be ready to select the ideal bike rack for your Prius. Take your time comparing the top-rated options to find the perfect match for your needs and budget. With the right Prius bike rack, you’ll be able to bring your bikes anywhere you want to go.

Reviews:
We got this 4 place rack because it would hold the weight the ebikes we bought. Once we figured out where to set everything for the 2 ebikes it works. The limiting factor is you can't strap around the battery so it was a process. It's not the easiest to get things in and out of except for the end one but it works and is a great price. And it's local (ish). #sweepstakesKrista B
Our purchase of the Freedom 4-Bike was timed to coincide with a family cycling trip. We received it a few days before the trip, and decided to practice. Good call! Putting four bikes on the rack for the first time took more than an hour of trial and error and tinkering. Lining up the parts of the rack and the pedals, handlebars, seats and racks of four adult-sized bikes was definitely a three-dimensional puzzle. The rack was great, though, for carrying the bikes securely and steadily on an 850-mile round-trip journey. We ended up getting very good at getting the bikes on and off of the rack in, probably, 5-10 minutes at a go. One person can load four bikes, but it's better to have a second person around to help.Rich
I bought the Saris Freedom 4 Bike rack about a month ago and I am quite impressed with it. I am not very mechanically inclined but I was able to figure out the installation fairly easily, the online videos do help. Once you establish a particular spot for each bike that you carry, the future setup is quite easy. Some previous reviews questioned the use of plastic parts which I thought were quite well made while also keeping the weight down on the rack. Vehicle rides much better by keeping the bikes as close to the bumper/rear of car as possible. Highly recommend it so far!Edward

I got this a few weeks ago and happy I did. I also have a Thule Outride 3 for my hatch back. I cant use the Thule on a carbon bike. This installed on my roof cross bars in minutes, securing a bike and removing it also takes minutes. The only concern are bridge clearances. You need to measure from the highest point on your bike to the ground and then PAY ATTENTION to bridges. I have a small SUV. Probably wont work in the North East if you have a large SUV. Top to bottom for me id 8'8" I will eventually buy a second, It also stores easily in a closet. Unlike my Thule. All the reviews are correct. Easy to use and keeps my bike secure. Its 4 stars because locks should be included. I bought those later and they too were easy to install. Very satisfied with this product.LMNYC
I've been using the highroads four about four months. Excellent for a short vehicle. I drive a Honda fit and two of the Highroads are amazing for hauling two bikes. I can get my bike up on the roof without any issue and reach all the adjustments and systems of the highroad without issue. The ratcheting hoop lock system is strong and I have never once worried about something coming loose or a tire getting pinched. The hoops accommodate very wide tires such as my 650b, 2.5 inch Mountain bike tires and more common 700x25mm without an issue. The locking strap system to secure the highroads to the car rack is also very secure. The user experience is mostly hassle free with this rack. I would or sure recommend this to someone with a sorter vehicle who already use a roof rack. Beats strapping a rack to your rear hatch or trunk lid.David
I combined the 20% off REI Anniversary Sale coupon, some gift cards, and my dividends to get the Yakima Highroad bike rack. I was able to utilize my existing Yakima BedRock truck bed crossbars that I use with my Yakima FatCat6 ski rack in the winter. Unlike my previous MTB fork-mount setup, this allows me to keep my bike's front wheel on, my truck's tailgate to close and not obstruct my rear view camera, still retain all my truck bed space, and is more sturdier/secure for those long MTB roadtrips. Yakima states that the max. bike wheelbase for this mount is 48". My Orbea OCCAM is a Large size and has a wheelbase of 46.18", so I had to move (shorten) the rear tire mount inward a few clicks on it's track from it's maximum position to get it centered under the rear axle. I could definitely see some longer trail/enduro XL/XXL size bikes possibly having issues with their rear tire hanging off the rear mount or not fitting at all. Online ordering and the curbside pickup was a breeze at my REI Fort Worth, TX location!TortillaZ71
3. Rockymounts Monorail 2-Bike 2" Hitch Rack
Product Details:
You can forget about painstakingly loading your bike in the rear hatch when you outfit your vehicle with the rockymounts monorail platform hitch rack. this two-bike carrier conveniently mounts to either 1. 25- or 2-inch receiver hitches, giving you the ability to mount it to your smaller car or large truck. for greater capacity on downhill shuttles and family outings, the 2-inch receiver version gives you the option for carrying a third bike with the monorail single bike add-on (sold separately). the sturdy platform design carries up to 120 pounds of total weight, which is considerably more than many hitch-mounted racks in this category. it accommodates bikes with 20 to 29-inch wheels, with tires up to a gargantuan 5-inch width. this gives you the ability to quickly and easily transport bikes ranging from your favorite road bikes to full-suspension mountain bikes, and even the biggest of fat tire bruisers. the adjustable front wheel clamp eliminates the need for frame contact, which is a major plus for riders with carbon frames and sensitive paint jobs. three inches of side-to-side adjustment gives you ample room to space out bikes, without them contacting each other at highway speeds.

Reviews:
Outstanding quality and solid support of my bikes, one of which is a 40lb ebike, rack is rated for two 60lb bikes. Very easy to assemble, install, and operate. Release lever is smooth and easy to raise or lower the rack. It has an anti wobble hitch pin that requires a tool but takes less than 5 mins to install. Very competitive price point compared to other brands.
My mistake – I didn't worry excessively about the quoted weight of the Thule T2, until I assembled it. At 23Kg, it is just too big and heavy for the back of my Tesla Model 3. I believe it is very capable of carrying my two e-bikes very securely, but I have replaced it with a lesser alternative at 16Kg. The T2 appears to be very solidly constructed, and would be ideal for a larger vehicle, especially a larger SUV or ute. For $868 delivered, I was disappointed to find I needed to spend a further $150 on a Thule number plate/light bar, to enable safe, legal carriage of my $40 Aux. Number Plate, with the T2 either folded, or carrying. Ideal for a differing Use Case!Peter G.
I was torn between getting this or one of the big name platform racks for a lot more money, and I ended up giving this one a try. So far, I have put it through several hundred miles of use in Oregon in various conditions (low/high-speed road, gravel, speed bumps, twisty roads/gravel, hilly roads/gravel). Overall: + I really like this rack and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a platform rack. It has most of the features of the high-end racks for a great price. I think this is the best bang for your buck rack at the moment. Pros: + Assembly is simple + Comes with locks (one to secure the rack to the hitch by preventing the removal of the hitch pin, and one to secure the cable lock to the rack) + The tilt-down feature to access the trunk works (2016 Mazda CX-5) + Looks great (the pics show it as all black but it actually has blue trim, which looks great; check out the Rocky Mounts website for accurate pics) + Uses a lockable threaded hitch pin, which prevents most side-to-side sway + The racheting strap for the rear wheels grabs the wheel tightly (vs. the Rocky Mounts SplitRail in which the wheel can bounce around because it is sitting in a giant channel that is designed to hold large wheels; check out pics of the SplitRail to see what I mean) + Each bike platform can be shifted left-to-right to accommodate bikes that hit each other Neutral: * The latch to activate the tilt-down/up feature is located on the bottom of the rack farthest away from bumper (easier to reach). This is better than the racks that have the latch situated between the bumper and the rack because it is easier to get to, but it is a little awkward because it puts you in a position where you're bent over to pull the latch and the bikes swing down towards you. Cons: – While the threaded hitch pin helps prevent side-to-side sway, I think the wedge-style type of the high-end Yakima/Thule brands are better because they prevent side-to-side as well as up-and-down sway. That said, I didn't really notice much sway in my use of the rack but I wanted to list this for someone that might care – The security element of the rack is a separate short cable that you thread through your bikes and then secure to the rack using a lock located between the bumper and the rack. The lock is the same type as the one used to secure the hitch pin. The gauge of the cable is similar to a standard bike cable lock, which is fine for deterrence but I wouldn't trust it in high-theft locations since pretty much all cables are easily cut using bolt cutters. The biggest downside to the cable is that it is too short to thread through both wheels + frame of both bikes. I can only manage to thread it through the frame and one wheel. – Requires a wrench to attach to the hitch. It comes with the wrench but it is something that can get lost. It would be great if Rocky Mounts could use a hand twist system similar to what Yakima/Thule do on their high-end mounts (this would also address any up-and-down sway). That said, this is a small price to pay for a much more affordable rack. – When folding up the rack against the bumper, the rack can actually travel beyond it's locked vertical position and hit your car. This can happen if you pull the latch and lift the rack quickly; the rack won't lock into the vertical position and hit your car). As long as you're careful to make sure the rack locks into its vertical position, you should be fine but it would have been nice if Rocky Mounts put in a metal stopper to prevent accidentsAllister

This is a great bike rack. Its sturdy, easily mounted on my roof rack(Thule style rectangular cross bars). It was about $50 including shipping. Its for an older bike without quick disconnect wheels or brakes so putting the bike inside the truck was ridiculous. I installed it in about 25 minutes including assembly. It did require a wrench to make sure the lock nuts were tight but mounting it didnt require any tools, its a great deal!skynrd.ds2
It does actually work! It definitely looks and kinda feels cheap but for like 40 bucks, it will do! I was a bit confused on installing it but after I figured out what I was really doing it was a piece of cake! I kinda was hoping it was going to be easy on easy off but I probably won’t be removing it off the car unless I absolutely have to. As for putting my bike on there it’s actually pretty easy, the lock for the bottom bar of the bike is a bit tricky/ flimsy But it does work and keeps the bike in place. I have a 2019 27.5 giant mountain bike so it barely fits on the rack and the front tire I can not lock down with the added straps. The back one straps down but not the front. It was an easy fix to correct that, I just found a long strap that will work for now. So far it works well and keeps the bike mostly in place, I’m a bit paranoid about it since I have had a kayak fall from the top roof of the car when I was driving once. The last thing I wanna say is that I’m afraid of going super fast with it but so far I have reached speeds up to 50-55mph and it doesn’t feel any different from just driving the car without the bike on top! Just did like 80-90 mph with the bike on since I went to a bike park at a ski resort. So I say money well spent!!!G.
Fairly simple to assemble and install. One critical point is that the center support device comes with a 7 x 5/16th inch bolt that limits the width of the down tube of the bike which, in turn, limits its ability to accommodate some bikes. That is easily remedied buy replacing it was an 8 x 5/16th inch bolt found at any hardware store.Keith

Reviews:
The bike rack itself is perfectly fine. Im using it on a long road trip now, and its very sturdy and stable, very easy to attach to the hitch and mount bikes. Mine came slightly used, though, as the box clearly had been opened and then taped shut. The rack had slight indications of usage, like some rubbed off paint on the cradles, minor scratches on the cradle arms, and a couple of small gouges on the back of the main body of the rack where the hitch arm folds up. Because I was leaving on a trip soon after the rack arrived and needed it, I didnt have time to return it and wait for a new one. It really didnt warrant me returning the rack anyway, and its worked out great so far. Rack Attack should have informed me they were sending a slightly used rack, though, and asked me if I was ok with it. I would have been, but I would have expected a little bit of a discount. They didnt give me that option.CuteChipmunk-83748
Purchased this 4-bike rack from local store after spending few days reading reviews on REI and Amazon. PROS: Bike Rack comes fully assembled (1) and plastic straps holding bikes really well (2). CONS: Very Heavy rack, My wife could not deal it. Even for me that wan no fun to deal with (1). When installed and locked with the key, it wobbles pretty bad in the hitch, that didn't make me feel safe at all (2). While unlocking was easy, lock hitch assembly fell out as it get disconnected from the hitch insert. Also, when I pull the rack out of the hitch, bottom plastic handle just fell off (1). Nor sure if my rack was a lemon, but it is going back to the store.Alex
I purchased this rack to help with bike outings with friends and to facilitate moving. I like most parts such as the tool-less locking and folding concepts, but wish there were locking points for a cable to secure bikes. Fitting the bikes just right is a pain, once you figure it out you have to remember the order and orientation of bikes or you'll re-do that process… If there was some play in the contact points to gain space between frames that could improve everything, but I heard it was designed out to avoid slip. Because of the folding design tolerances, there are a few inches of play at highway speeds that you have to learn to be okay with. Ultimately I had issues with clearance (protective shark fin constantly bottoming out) and the threaded wedge system being unable to loosen, so I returned the unit and would consider a similar style. This works best if you need the possibility of 4 bikes, but probably use 2-3, and you also want to remove the rack from your car often.David
6. Saris 102 Saris Solo 1 Bike Trunk Rack
Product Details:

Reviews:
I am not massively experienced with bike racks, but this seemed a good deal at around £32 at time of purchase so I thought I would give it a try. It is very easy to install (under 5 minutes) and holds the bike fairly firmly. There is a single buckle that stops the bike moving towards and away from the car so it is important to make sure it is tightly fastened to avoid you bike bashing into the back of the car under accelleration and braking, but once tight there is little movement of the bike. With that said, a second strap to hold the bike in place would not have been a bad idea. Another thing I hadn't realised was the need for a lighting board due to the bike obscuring the rear lights and number plate, and if you don't have a tow bar socket then you need to install an electrical kit in the boot. I managed to do all that, but when you factor in the extras you legally require, the price is more like £80 (lighting board, electrics kit, duplicate rear number plate) and that is if you are willing to do the electrical work yourself. With that said, it is a nicely made rack, the buckles don't scratch the car and the rack itself is well padded with rubber stops so there is no damage to the paintwork. It doesn't fold flat though, and does take up a bit of space when not on the car so bear that in mind when buying. Would I buy it again? I am not sure, a roof rack carrier avoids the need for a rear lighting board and the roof rack itself can be used for other things so maybe I would have gone down that route instead, but hindsight is always 20/20. If you are specifically looking for a rear mount bike carrier for a single bike then this is superb value for money, if you already have a tow bar or a roof rack then potentially consider some other options available, they may seem more expensive at first but with straps (to stop the wheels moving while you drive), light board, extra number plate, electrics kit, your time to wire it all up and the rack itself you aren't looking at any change from £100.Jetsetjay
I bought this a couple of months ago and I’ve used it twice – the first was to transport my new bike home from Halfords. On both occasions it has led to my paintwork being seriously scratched. When I used it the second time I covered the inner pedal with bubble wrap and secured the wheels but I still got deep scratches. Can’t understand the good reviews for that reason!HanE73
Good simple and solid unit. Nice and easy to attach the bike, and bike seems pretty well secured although the strap to secure the frame doesn't fit an enduro bike very well. Main issue is you need to be very careful about the pedal scratching the car, you can shift the peddle to top position to keep it out of the way, but this needs to be carefully done prior to loading the bike or you are at risk of scratching.Joel H.

Good: Looks stylish (my opinion, subjective) Holds the bike very well if used correctly. Fast bike install ONCE you get used to it. Bad: If you don't have a Thule set of cross bars you need to buy T Bolts for your model unless you use the over clamps. The over clamps can and probably will scratch your cross bars. The T bolts for my car that Thule recommended had to come from a dealer in Europe and could not be shipped to the US. I will keep looking and hope to find them. I am using the over clamps at the moment that are all metal, for a metal on metal fit. I am not sure why the insides are not lined with a non marring material like rubber. It is possible for the two bars to not click together which could lead to a less secure holding of the front wheel. I double checked and found this condition and reinstalled. Very important to listen for the click. If a person is in a hurry or in a loud area its possible to install the bike incorrectly. Best to visually check to assure the pin is in the groove/ Takes a little getting used to. Not intuitive. Easy once you get used to it. Not the easiest to get your bike into but to be fair This is my first roof rack. My SUV is not tall but I need a step ladder. The lock for the bike to the rack needs to be purchased separately. The lock for rack to the cross bar needs to be purchased separately.By Pat
Since, we have Aeroblade/Wingbar Evo bars for our vehicles already, we didn't want to go to a hitch rack. We were originally looking at the drop wheel roof racks, but we ended up choosing this one instead, since we don't have quick release axles on our bikes. It was really easy to install the bike racks onto the bars – they slide onto the bars with the T-nuts and then put back on the end caps. We found them really quick & efficient to load/unload bikes onto the Upride racks & locking them to the rack. We drove almost 2000 kms in sun, rain, and headwind with 2 Upride racks and 2 gravel bikes attached on this trip on a sedan.JoL99
I bought this rack after being told it was the best solution for my wife's new dual suspension, I'd been using big mouth carriers for the last 10 years after switching from fork mounted carriers. The new tray is awful for the slightly wider tires, it isn't a true +sized and fit in the old trays, but the tires just roll right off these ones with no trouble. So do other bikes and its a deficiency of the new style trays but with the weight of her bike its worse. Part of the issue lies in the difficulty of guiding the front tire into the holder and then trying to hold it there while the wheel wants to slide sideways. The holder that then locks the wheel in is a total pain from there. With both MTBs it is possible to set a height and then use some force to slam it up so it locks in but its a really tight latching mechanism. This is where it gets its worst marks because with all my other bikes locking the wheel in becomes a major difficulty. The space between the downtube and front wheel of my and my wife's Blue gravel bikes, her C-dale Caadx, and my Museeuw race bike is so tight that the wheel holder barely fits in the space. With how hard it is to latch into the wheel stop getting any of these bikes on there is almost harder then with the wife's dual suspension since it isn't possible to swing it up with any momentum without it typically hitting the frame. Doing so requires snaking an arm under the frame to push up on the holder while the other hand turns the release knob to get it locked in. This method is required as there is enough flex that trying to push on the outside of the holder won't force it into the lock that holds both arms together. Releasing the latch on the lock arm, due to the pressure on the tire, caused the holder to bounce into the frame on one of the bikes leaving the tiniest ding, nothing easily noticable but enough to remind me I need to have some care unlatching it. The result is that the carrier only works well with one MTB out of 6 total bikes, that's a pretty poor score on something that costs well over 200.00 and buying it is something I regret.

Really liked the original four bike rack. Well built and worked great. Hitch lock broke and so did the sleeve to drop the rack as well. Saris somewhat slow on the lifetime warranty decision, but eventually decided to replace it with the newer Bones rack. In Toronto Canada and waited all summer for backordered replacement. Missed the whole summer of travelling with our bikes. Finally came in yesterday and did not include the hitch lock (which I originally purchased) so the bike shop is trying to get in touch with them again to have this sent. The new rack looks good. Design seems improved. Happy it was replaced but very slow moving to get here. I do appreciate Saris standing behind their products, but the expediting needs improvement.
We purchased the bones bike rack for a trip to Niagara falls. We had a great time riding through the falls on our bikes. Being able to take our bikes on vacation in a convenient way is wonderful. Great investment!
Got it on the back of my 2007 Civic sedan. Can open the trunk without tilting (at least with bikes on furthest from the trunk). Spacing between arms are adjustable to accommodate smaller triangle bikes, especially kids bikes. Be sure to tighten all bolts as indicated in the assembly instructions – it's the key to eliminating all wobble. Wanted a lightweight hitch rack that I can install and remove just for my weekly Saturday rides without marring the paint with my old trunk rack.

Easy to install. Easy to get four bikes on including two kids bikes. Have to spend a few minutes adjusting wheel supports the first time I loaded the bikes, but now that is set, it takes seconds to load a bike. Very sturdy, yet not too heavy. Very secure No bouncing while driving. No sagging. I appreciate the hitch pin key lock so I don't have to worry about the rack getting stolen from the car. Zip bands to secure the wheels to the rack are very convenient. The screw that kept the removable locking pin attached to the rack when the pin was not engaged (via a thin metal cable) may have been plastic and broke after two uses of the rack. It's okay because it isn't needed to operate the rack, and just forces me to put it back in after changing the rack position (folded up or extended out for use), which is a good thing to not forget to so anyways.Nirav
I recently bought my Yakima rack and took a 300 miles trip. PROS: The bikes stay in place through all the bumps in the road. Easy to adjust from 4 bikes to 2 bikes set up. Easy to put together. CONS: Very very heavy, over 70 lbs. The design is off, difficult to load/unload the bike by yourself. The middle poles that hold the bikes are in the way when loading and unloading. No lock or cable, have to provide your own (at this price point, should come with it). Attaching to the hitch requires a wrench. Black screw that holds wire to the pin came off before I even assembled it. Screw needs to be a metal one, not plastic. I contact customer support and they said it's not an option. They gave me the screw size and said to go buy your own.Noi K
We just used this for our first road trip with our bikes and it held up great! Bikes were snug. Able to fit kids bikes 16” and 24” and 2 adult mountain bikes. So easy to adjust to for different wheel sizes and heights. I was disappointed that one of the pins is attached by a cable with a plastic washer. That washer busted day 1 of using the rack. I expected considering the price and brand’s reputation that they would use better quality parts to put this bike rack together. Overall we are happy with our purchase.steph025
10. Saris All Star 2 Bike Hitch Rack
Product Details:
Tray-style bike racks set the day's adventure up for seamless fun. and the saris all star 2-bike rack means you can take your best riding mate along for the ride. at a featherweight 21lb, the all star can easily slot into single person install and removal territory, and with the 1. 25 and 2in hitch compatibility, fitting the all star to your or a friend's vehicle is simplified. loading the bikes on to the tray-style rack remains relatively painless, compared to swing-arm and roof-rack designs, as you simply plop the fully assembled bike onto the tray, cinch down the rear wheel strap, and lower the arm to secure around the top of the bike frame. however, even though the all star's center arm column can be lowered to gain access to the vehicle's hatch when loading the bike that will sit nearest the car, you'll have to maneuver the bike between the vehicle and the column.saris designed the all star with an upward sweeping hitch arm to elevate the trays higher off the ground to accommodate shorter vehicles, and the trays themselves hold 45lb of bike per tray while accommodating tires up to three inches wide.

This rack is easy to assemble (~30 minutes max), is light weight and efficiently made (doesn't look bulky). It is very stable. I needed to load my two recumbent bicycles (short wheel base), and the central stud doesn't help (it comes over where the seat is, but isn't wide enough to hold the seat). A bit of cowboy engineering with a strap did the job well. I used it for both of my recumbents at the same time. I emailed Saris support to ask about a strap that would work, but they never replied! Oh well, found something that kinda works at local hardware store.ItsMeNemeh

I needed a sturdy well built bike rack for our bikes on the back of my Jeep Wrangler JKU with a two inch receiver and I’m glad I found this one. The others were either of low quality or way overpriced IMO. It’s very well designed and functional. It may look flimsy to some but it isn’t. With both of our bikes on it it hardly moves at all. My wife accidentally backed into a post and bent the right support bar. I called the company and ordered a replacement and had it in a couple of days. I feel that all things being equal the damage to a lesser rack would have been more severe and to one of the big name ones would have cost more to repair. I recommend this to anyone and everyone.Charles T.
I have 2 e-bikes and this bike rack is so awesome easy to use and easy to load. I love the tilt so I can open the rear door to my Rav4 with ease. I loved it so much that I bought my daughter her own Hollywood rack for her e-bike!Catherine W.

great even on the fendered bikes (we use sponge strips to protect back fenders, front fenders do not interfere). We also use a Formosa cover (with net) and remove the batteries for travel. We protect the battery cavities with contractor garbage bags and tape. However, the bike separation is a hair too little and we do need to remove the kick stands on both bikes to avoid interference with the clamps (takes me about 10 minutes per bike to do it super-careful to avoid compromising electrical wires). The derailleur interferes with the clamp when mounted on the in-facing side, so the bikes travel with the kick stand sides facing each other (stands removed). Our travel vehicle is either a 2017 Ram 1500 Laramie or a 2019 Subaru Outback 3.5 Limited.DaveM

Order and delivery within 3 days, nice! It would be helpful if the Saris website provide additional photos of the EX2 mounted on the variety of vehicles it is supposed to fit. One photo is worth 10 pages of written instruction. After a some fidgeting, I managed to figure out the best way to mount the EX2 on my 2022 Subaru Forester. The Saris web site states that the Hatch Huggers are required for the Forester but I found that these Huggers are really not necessary. Besides the Huggers are a pain to juggle while mounting the EX2 to an open door. Also, the $24.99 cost for these Hatch Huggers is questionable. Overall, the EX2 is a quality product and has a durable feel. The upper arm design to clear the door spoiler is great, well done. Mounting should become easier as the EX2 is used more often. Although I have not road tested the EX2 with bikes, I don't anticipate that there will be any issues.bikedad70
I'm using the Bones EX-2 on a 2018 Honda CR-V. I purchased the Bones based on various articles and reviews. I do not have a trailer hitch so that design was not an option. Based on the height of the CR-V and the need for all sorts of rails, a top mounted design was also not a viable option. So far, the EX-2 has met or exceeded my expectations. I did find that if you switch the positions of the inboard and outboard arms, the lower feet will clear the license plate very nicely and rest solidly on the rear hatch, while the upper feet provide solid footing on the rear window. I did find it very important to make sure that the straps are pulled TIGHT so the entire unit is secure. I will note that I am only transporting ONE carbon street bike on the BONES so I can't talk to fully loading the BONES with much heavier steel bikes. Additionally, I found that if you are not using the BONES, you can relocate the arms to an upright position and ON THIS VEHICLE, open and close the deck without having to remove the unit which is a time saver to get into the rear deck compartment. So far…. Very happy with this product.Trek53
I had a hard time finding a bike rack for my little Honda Fit hatchback that wouldn't stress the spoiler. Bones EX-2 does the trick perfectly. Folding/unfolding is quick and easy. Two bikes strap on with no problem. Construction is super solid. I've driven 90 mph with two bikes strapped to it. No shudder or movement. No weird noises. All in all: highly recommended if you want to tote some bikes around without demolishing your spoiler.O'Hagan

I bought this rack to travel to Acadia National Park. The rack performed solidly, keeping 3 adult mountain bikes solidly locked in for the 6 hour trek. Over the week of biking our group had many different bikes from Cruisers to kids BMX to Adult mountain bikes on this rack all of which tightly attached and strapped on with ease using the the system of pulls and swivel stops. I love this rack. I never felt comfortable with my older aluminum rack which rested on the glass of my Toyota Hatchback. Be sure to latch the straps onto the hinges and not use the spoiler body molding to fasten the straps. There is a bit of play in one of the arms that bothers me a bit as it seems loose and shifts up and down a bit when not loaded. Once everything is on, the bikes rest solidly and the rack stays in place. Sweet piece of equipment.Paul M
I had watched the videos so when I received the rack it was installed on the car in about 5 minutes. Seems rock solid- attached my road bike and went for a test ride on bumpy roads and the highway and it did not move at all. I used an elastic strap to secure the front wheel to the bike frame so it did not rotate- you could use a bungee or some rope also. I had looked at some cheaper and smaller racks but really glad I got this one. And it keeps the bike away from my car so there should be no damage.Dave
I just purchased this bike rack and so far I am pleased. The product comes assembled in the box and is relatively easy to install. It does take some getting used to and only gets easier with practice. It's a little on the heavier side compared to other racks (not a bad thing), so be prepared. The ratchet system definitely secures the rack to the car and is very stable. Just remember to be cautious with the ratchets or you will damage your car. I did put some minor scratches in my bumper but they will easily buff out. I've only gone on a short trip with it (about 10 miles) but at higher speeds and winding roads and the two bikes held fast. My Giant XTC2 went on with no issues and my son's BMX went on will a little more difficulty but it did fit securely. On the way home he had a new mountain bike that fit on just as easily as mine. It seems that three bike will be a bit of a squeeze but I won't know until I try to get my wife's bike on. The only improvements I might suggest are wheel straps included in the box, the left hand key facing outboard instead inboard and maybe cable channels in the cradle. All in all, my initial impression is that this is a quality product and I made the right choice. Hopefully after some use I won't change my mind.Grafx365

Reviews:
We have two KBO e-bikes (about 58 pounds each with batteries removed) and have used the Thule rack for long (500+miles) and short (in-town) hauls. The professional installer of our hitch gave us a hands-on tutorial of how the EasyFold rack works, which was really helpful. We were novices at bike racks, but after just a few uses, we're now confident and proficient. I appreciate the ramps, but generally don't use them because it's simply easier to lift our bikes into place on the rack. We know exactly where to position the arms and place the pedals for easy tie-down. The bikes are really secure when put properly into place with the arm clamps and tire straps. The rack folds easily for storage, either in the back of our Honda CRV or in our small apartment. When folded, the wheels on the rack are a nice touch to use rather than carrying. We love the ability to lock the arms and hitch in place for security when parked. This rack was a great purchase for us.Orange Crush
Bought this because it is rated for the weight of e-bikes and one of the few racks that can handle a heavy bike with fenders. But the rack is awkward. Even though the clamps can move around the inverted-U-shaped mount, the rigid arm of the clamp doesn't offer enough mounting options on the bike frame — especially if your e-bike has a thick down-tube. If you have water bottle holder(s), a pump, or any other accessories mounted in the internal triangle of the bike (e.g., on the downtube or seat tube), it will interfere with positioning the clamps. This difficulty is compounded when trying to carry two bikes that have accessories mounted in the internal triangle. This rack has some cool design features. But it lacks the kind of flexibility that an over-the-tire clamp can offer fender-less bikes. It is the best rack out there I can find for an e-bike. But this is not the nicest rack I've ever used.HelmetHead
This is the best bike rack I have owned. In fact, I'll be selling my 1-Up system to purchase a second Thule EasyFold for a second vehicle. Why? 1) The Easyfold is compact. Compared to other bike racks, the Thule folds nicely for storage as well as for managing it when putting on and taking off the vehicle. Yes, like any bike rack it protrudes from the hitch, but it's impossible to have a hitch-mounted bike rack that doesn't protrude. I like that the rack can be folded out of the range of the rear sensors when not carrying bikes. 2) It's durable. When bikes are mounted following Thule's instructions, they will not come off the rack. The gripper is strong, but you must position it correctly on the frame and twist clockwise until you hear it click. Once those things are done, it will not allow the bike to unmount accidentally. 3) The built-in locks are nice, one to keep the hitch secure and two to keep the bikes secure. I still lock with a Kryptonite chain when parked for long periods of time with the bikes on back, but the Thule locks keep the bikes secure from attempted thefts.
