With its year-round sunny weather, scenic ocean views, and variety of trails, Los Angeles is a cyclist’s paradise. Before embarking on the best bike rides Los Angeles has to offer, there are a few factors to consider. The first is identifying your skill level. Are you a casual rider looking for a short, scenic route or an avid cyclist seeking a grueling hill climb? Deciding whether you want a leisurely beach path or something more challenging will help narrow your options.
Next, think about when you want to ride. Do you hope to avoid crowds and ride during off-peak hours? Or is a busy scene part of the fun? Weekends tend to be more crowded on popular routes. Finally, consider bike accessibility. Will you need bike rentals nearby or do you plan to bring your own set of wheels? Search for routes that offer convenient bike shares and rentals if necessary.
With the endless array of trails across LA, which rides are truly the best? Will a bike path along the beach allow you to fully soak in the laidback SoCal atmosphere? Could a ride through Griffith Park provide stunning city views while also offering shade on hot days? Or will an iconic route showcase the city’s unique personality? As you continue researching the top bike rides in Los Angeles, keep your individual needs and preferences in mind. The perfect ride for you awaits somewhere in this sprawling, scenic city.

Reviews:
I didn’t go for the cheapest option out there, so I was disappointed when I had a lot of issues with the bike that was delivered. After assembling it I took it to a bike shop to have it checked out, and I had to immediately take the chain guard off because the chain was catching. At the shop I was told they were surprised the bike left the warehouse in the condition it was. The crank shaft is loose, the shifting was messed up, and the front wheel is very not true. When I reached out about the problems Retrospect wasn’t very helpful. The shop said the front wheel should just be replaced. I also realized both wheels are not holding air for very long, so this is another item for me to get fixed on a very new bike. I am hoping a phantom screeching sound is from the crank shaft and will be fixed when that is tightened. The bike looks nice and it is not garbage, I’m just disappointed with how many problems I am having with it.Maxfield V.
Bike was advertised to fit a rider height of 5’2-5’5, I’m 5’3. But when the bike came it was huge, I couldn't even stand over it. No big deal right? There’s a 50 day return policy. But returning the bike was a nightmare, I had theres a $55 return fee, and a $185 restocking fee. The restocking fee only gets refunded if the bike is in pristine condition, so if you take the bike on a test drive and can’t get the asphalt stain out of the tires… good luck. I think I had to call customer service 3 times. I’m only giving a 3 star rating because they delete any reviews under 3 starts.Yuliza H.
Didn’t think I’d have to measure my inseam since the smallest size specified it would fit riders 5’2 to 5’5. Being in the middle of that height bracket, I didn’t think it would be an issue. I was wrong. Totally heartbroken that this bike is WAY too tall for me, seems like false advertisement… No returns since it was on sale. Super disappointed since I was so excited about this beautiful bicycle. It’s also much heavier than I was expecting. I guess I learned my lesson trying to buy a bicycle online.Lindsey

Reviews:
My 13-year-old bought the Har0 2021 Leucadia DLX online from Erik's. Great price and a really nice bike. The shipping was quick and the parts were very well packed. Assembly was pretty straight forward. We were almost finished with assembly and began adjusting the left side hand brake. I loosened the nut adjusted the position and began tightening the nut and 4 or 5 of the threads inside the brake assembly were completely sheered off. This was not the result of over-tightening as we had not even gotten tightened yet, it seemed to have happened when we were loosening the nut for adjustment. I still need to contact Erik's support for assistance. But needless to say, it was a disappointment.Jhstaud
I love my new Haro. Having a great time riding it in the bowl. Great bike! Received my order just as advertised, and on time. Great buying experience all around. Would definitely recommend Sun & Ski.James
The bike did not come with the brown wall tires they were supposed to come with. Now I am having to find someone who sells them seperately and now there is no way I’m going to have them by Christmas. The whole reason I wanted this bike was for the brown wall tires. Extremely disappointed!!!!Rebecca

Reviews:
Coming from decades of road cycling experience, this is my first mountain bike. I'm fit enough for challenging rides, but little technical experience mountain biking. I purchased this bike to keep the investment low, but enable me to upgrade in the future. I've now gone on many steep, rocky, technical rides and the bike has done excellent. I'm very happy with my choice. I only upgraded to a dropper post at the time of purchase. In the future I'll upgrade the group set as I'd prefer a little more snappiness in shifting, but it performs very well on tough trails. No complaints!Rob C.
You can find a better full suspension MTB in this price range…..insane value for the price. I was frozen in analysis paralysis between the Marin RZ1 vs. the Giant Stance and I couldn't be happier with my RZ1-29er. I'm 6' even and 170-175lbs depending on pizza consumption, so I'm riding size large. I've been running downhill, technical climbs, flow and rump trails, and a bit of rugged XC, and this bike takes it all in stride. Pros: Both the front and rear shock have been more adjustable than I would have expected. The slack head angle makes the slow technical XC trails a little tricky, but it provides huge benefits for climbing and speedy descents. Cons: There really isn't much to dislike, but its worth mentioning that the RZ1 does not come with a dropper post. And the stock seat post is sure long, so you cant lower the seat all the way without cutting the post down significantly. That's an easy process with a hack saw and a file, but you can add a dropper for under $200 if you self-install. Overall, I cant recommend the RZ1 highly enough. If you're in the market for an affordable full suspension MTB then the Marin RZ1 is a smart place to invest your hard-earned coin.Joel
The bikesonline website is very organized and informative, and the online purchase was easy. I got a response to an email question from customer support in a few days. The bike shipped well-secured in a sturdy box that survived unscathed all the way from CA to TN. The bike arrived mostly assembled; I just attached the handlebar, seat post, and front wheel, then added some pedals. I bled the rear brake as the right brake lever was squishy, and I set the fork and shock air pressure/rebound for my granddaughter's weight, but no other tweaks were needed. The Marin bikes are great – I would rather have had a Rift Zone 2 29er but it was unavailable. The Recon Silver fork on the Rift Zone 1 is not my favorite, but overall we love the bike, the customer support, and the simplicity of shopping it.Gary H.
10. Santa Cruz Bronson C R Mountain Bike In Paydirt Gold
Product Details:
If in doubt, take a bronson out – you know what’s hard about choosing what model of santa cruz suits you? it’s having to narrow down what kind of riding you want to do. but what if you don’t want to be pinned down by labels? what if you want to just be a mountain biker in the broadest sense of the word? what if you want to choose how you ride rather than what to ride? if this sounds familiar, then try a bronson. – our demo crew have a saying, ‘if in doubt, take a bronson out’. the 150mm-travel bike can go deep on any landing and the vpp suspension design makes sure that there’s no wasted energy when heading back up for another go. – if you value style at speed or want to have fun feeling fast, then mixed wheels (29” up front, 27.5” out back) show that the spectrum is a loop not opposite points on a scale. the larger front wheel provides more traction and stability that’ll make you feel more confident squaring off the turns and diving for the inside lines. but a 27.5-inch tire in the rear means this bike still loves getting up on the back wheel and into the air. – from flat out on the trail to fully flat over a table, each generation of bronson rider redefines expectations of what a mountain biker is.

Reviews:
Staff was great answering all of my ridiculous questions. I figured I was buying a Roll’s Royce of e-mountain bikes and should get all of my anxiety out. They gave pros, cons, reviews. Couldn’t be happier. I had it for 6 days now and have ridden nearly 100 miles. It’s a bike that assists you in bad situations. Jumps very well and is very lively. Thanks Mike’s Bikes for taking care of me! You guys are awesome. Respectfully, Brett Humphry San Diego, CABrett H.
I wasnt sure what to expect out of this bike. Being new for this year the reviews didnt have much substance to them outside of first impressions. That being said I am thrilled with this purchase. The MX tire size makes this bike just blow through trails that my 27.5 would take a bit more piloting. Being torn between the Nomad and the Bronson I am glad I went with the Bronson. Its a much more versatile bike for the types of rides I go on. The only con I have is that I expected more out of the brakes. Maybe bleeding them will help but as of now its not the feel I expected out of them.Joseph
I have owned this bike for close to a year now and so far I love it! I opted for the moss green because I didn't like the matt finish of the yellow one. Working in a bike shop I handled lots of bikes with matt finishes and they are grease print magnets! Anyone wanting to buy a Bronson with the matt finish I suggested a full clear film wrap just because of this. First of all, this bike handles amazing with the MX wheel sizing. The suspension is smooth and plush with very efficient pedaling for a more gravity oriented bike. I am a disabled veteran so having a nice comfy ride that allows me to push my limits further is super important. I also bought the lowest spec R model because I wanted to build up the bike myself with custom parts over time. The 4 stars is because of some of the components that come on a over $5K bike. First off, I was surprised this bike came with only an NX drivetrain, while this is a great option for beginner riders, I do not think anything below SRAM GX or Shimano XT should come factory on a bike of this price. I shaved off over half a pound just upgrading the NX cassette to an X01 cassette. Another issue I had was with the brakes, I may have just gotten defective rotors, but it felt like there was sand in my brakes from day one. On closer inspection I found little pot marks or pin holes along the very edge of the rotors braking surface. These pin holes will probably go away eventually with wear, or I could sand them down, but I ended up just getting hope floating rotors instead (SRAM centerline rotors). My last complaint is a little more of a personal preference thing. I sized down to a medium frame even though I'm 5'10" and Santa Cruz suggests the Large at my height. Well the medium only comes with a 150mm travel dropper post. I have about 4 inches of dropper post body exposed just to have the seat high enough, and with it all the way dropped I still hit the seat a lot doing downhill rides. The way they designed the VPP suspension unfortunately does not allow for much seat post insertion depth. The only way I could find to get a longer post installed was the ONE UP dropper adjustable to 180mm. I'll only gain 30mm of travel, but I'll take what I can get. Oh, and the headset area creaks and pops a little bit while riding, haven't figured out a solution for this yet. It came with the cheapest cane creek headset possible, which I guess is at least better than a cheap FSA headset. Overall I love this bike, and it just keeps getting better with every upgrade I do. If you want an excellent bike right out of the box though and budget is no issue, maybe get a higher spec model.Trevor

Reviews:
I purchased this book because i wanted to have ideas for bike trails in my area. I try to do one new bike route once a week, and this book has been serving me great. I love that it show the elevation gain throughout the ride. When i ride, i do not use the mile by mile description, obviously. But it's a good review before the ride. I find this book and description pretty accurate. Some of the rides they describe as strenuous are not that exhausting for me. Majority of rides are about 30miles long, of different difficulties. I live on East side, so this bookis hreat for me because it shows routes all over, north, west, east and south from me. Plus the Islands. If you live in Tacoma or Bellingham area, this might not be as useful because you would have to drive quite far. But it's perfect for Seattle-based folks. This is definitely the best book on market with plenty of bike routes around Puget Sound.laurinka1111
