I’ve only owned these a few weeks but they have been great so far. Quality of the shoe is really good. I had an issue with the colors listed online but the pictures proved to be the correct color shoe after a quick chat with support. I got my usual size (11) and they fit great. I usually take a wide shoe (D) but found these kept coming up as a great option for wide feet even though they are not technically a wide size. I tossed the floppy insole in favor of a better one with arch support as well. They are comfortable to ride with, grip the pedals GREAT and are casual to wear afterwards. Worth the money all day with a good pair of flat pedals. Especially for the wide fit. I will buy another put in a heartbeat when these wear out.Daniel
I have the high top version of these, mostly for fat biking. They are plenty warm for riding down to zero degrees Fahrenheit for me and I would not say my feet run particularly warm. I am not sure if the outer is actually waterproof, but it definitely keeps moisture out for my purposes, which is typically riding in snow. I'm not stomping through puddles or anything. Grip wise they feel just like the Freerider Pros to me. Nice and sticky!Craig
Very happy with these shoes, a vast improvement over the old sneakers I had been wearing. I now have much better grip (which I expected) but I also have a significant increase in power transfer (which I was not expecting). I bought a pair a bit larger than my usual (normally size 10, I got the 10.5) as I had seen reviews that they could be a bit small – but this was unnecessary, just get your normal size and it should be fine. In terms of quality, these shoes have been great. I rode in the most appalling rain and mud, hosed the shoes down and left them to dry for 3 days and they are good as new. This is a great shoe. Grip is great. Flex is perfect (just the right amount, not too stiff, but not too much of a noodle). Durability seems good so far. Comparing to freerider pro, freerider, hellion, livewires and shimano gr9's, these are top dog by a wide margin. Better grip, amazing pedal feel, comfy. Sizing note. I'm a true 13 in most brands, and their chart says 13 = 47. I found 48 to be a better match to a true 13 size across other brands. Their 48 is a bit bigger than the 510 48's. Best if you can try on at a specialized dealer.
Flat pedals gravel guy here. Super sticky. Currently on Race Face Chester pedals. The body geometry thing is not a gimmick, I noticed extra comfort my first ride. All black is a huge plus, looks much more like a grown up shoe than competitors, although it still does look like a skate shoe, but I don't see that as a downside at all. I'm a size 10 in 510 Freerider Pro, and ordered a 10 here, but they were like 5 or 6 mm shorter, maybe even more, and incredibly tight and uncomfortable. I read around and realized others had this problem also, and returned for a full size up (11) and they are perfect. Favorite riding shoe now, also helps that they are less expensive than 510 pro. Hope to see more versions soon.
I love this shoe in all areas except toe protection. The thicker toebox plastic/rubber ends before your pinky toe location, so I've had quite a few painful interactions with my pinky toe and a stick/rock/stump. I'm actually worried enough about my pinky toes that it's making me think about getting a shoe from a different brand that extends the toebox protection down past where your pinky toe resides. I haven't had this happen with other shoes so I'll probably look elsewhere with my next purchase unless the toe box gets modified as indicated. Otherwise I love the shoe (fit, performance, look, etc.) I'm just concerned about my little piggy's safety!Ken K.

I had to return these because they are a poor fit, far too narrow and designed for a flat foot and ankles are very exposed. I assumed from the pictures that these would be very similar in shape to the 510 freeriders but with a cleat, they are a bit different than that and do have the typical bulge under the ball of foot area similar to most other shoes with cleats, meaning they're really not that walkable either. I'd say the footbed is similar to other shoes I've tried, rather flat and not conforming to the shape of my foot. The best shoes with cleats so far have always been from Specialized, my favorite flats are 510 freeriders from a few years ago. I returned these and never tried clipping in with them, just wore them in the house a few times.Charles
Unfortunately this shoe misses the mark in a key area. Let?s start with the good . This shoe fits me nicely. It has a roomy toe box, a heel grip to minimize slippage and most importantly a BOA latch combined with a single Velcro strap. The bad news is that one of the most important attributes that most riders are looking for is weak and that is GRIP. Holy smoke Crank Bros, you know the competition and you know what is needed. How could you screw up the grip . I love wearing the shoes but there is no comparison to Five Tens. I kept hoping after some use the soles would become more pliable and tacky. That has not happened. The grip is normal, but not as perfect as the 5 ten. Definitely not for Enduro. For street style riding and casual walking, this looks perfect. Includes 2 laces. Excellent service. I've worn these shoes once, and I won't wear them again. Here are my observations after the first ride: •The shank is roughly as stiff as the Freerider Pro. •Fit and coverage is similar to the Freerider Pro. •Good protection from the toe cap, which isn't mentioned in the marketing materials I've read. •If you like your feet to be locked in, these are not the shoes for you. Most of the trails I ride are steep and chunky, and these shoes continually slide forward on the pedal, leaving you riding on your heels. These are good MTB shoes with great grip on the pedals and a firm but not too hard soul. Comfortable to wear around town as regular casual shoes. However the tongue tends too slide to the outside of the shoe and becomes annoying after a while. I don't know why they don't have a loop on the outside of the tongue to feed the laces through to prevent this from happening, like almost every other pair of sport shoes on the planet. I just started riding flat pedals. I found these on Cambria on sale and decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did. These fit me great. I have a wide toe box but not wide heels and have trouble finding shoes that fit me. I laced these up and could tell they were the right shoe for me. They are very secure with no slippage anywhere but I still have plenty of toe room. I don't have any other flat shoes to compare the grip to but the tread seems to grip the pins very well. I'm a female rider, and I'd worn Specialized clipless shoes for years. They were always comfortable and very durable. When I made the switch to flats some years ago, I went to Five Tens for their incredible grip. When I saw that Specialized was making a flat shoe, I had to try them, since the Five Tens fit wasn't perfect for my particular feet. I was super happy with the switch, since these fit great! I've worn a 39 in Specialized shoes my whole riding life, and that hasn't changed — meanwhile, Five Ten keeps changing their sizing – do I now fit in a 38 2/3 or 39 1/3??? and what the heck are those sizes? and even those doesn't seem consistent across all their shoes. With the Specialized shoe, the best part is the grip, which is fantastic; no loss that I can perceive compared to the Five Tens. Locked and loaded! Also, the sole is a bit stiffer, which is a welcome improvement – but not so stiff that you can't conform your foot to the pedal as needed. Great shoe, I'm a fan. I fully expect these to last several seasons, just like my old clipless shoes did. My only complaint is that I have the previous iteration of the shoe shown here, and it isn't winning any beauty contests, ha ha. 😀 But the performance is so excellent, I don't care. Plus the varus correction works well for my anatomy, so I am super pleased to be back in Specialized shoes.
Build quality of this shoes is top notch. The toe bumper is substantial yet unobtrusive. The sole is stiff, but nothing like a carbon sole XC shoe. The materials all make sense from the grippy rubber outsole, to the perforated insole. The lacing comes down far enough to secure your whole foot including the toe box. The cleat pocket is also long enough to run cleats farther back. Worn in a variety of temperature and never noticed being too hot or cold. I wear these with Shimano Saint SPDs and the interface allows for movement with some detectable resistance. For how I like to ride this is the perfect pedal feel. I slot exactly between sizes and after trying both went with the larger size. These are a great complement to the recon 3.0s if you ride a variety of styles.Sam
Good: These shoes should get five stars for the outsole alone. I have ridden flat shoes from basically every major brand, and these have the best grip, hands down. They are also responsively stiff, and the rubber wears extremely well. The fit guide is accurate, so trust it. Could be better: The tongue needs to be taller (it digs into the front of your foot), a lace cover would be nice for better security, and the shoe needs an ANKLE GAITER! I am constantly getting rocks and trail debris caught between my foot and the shoe collar. Not perfect overall, but I'll take the small shortcomings for this amazing rubber! Fit was too narrow for my regular width feet. I regularly wear Vans and these are more narrow. Caused foot pain. Unsure if breaking them it would stretch them out, but still unnecessarily narrow.. not sure if it is worth breaking in (as it causes so much pain). Sizing up by 1/2 size may help the issue? Very narrow fit causes pain. Once broken in after many months of pain, eventually it did get comfortable. However, soon after, the suede around the lace eyelets failed on one of the shoes. IMO it is a design flaw if you see how it is constructed, forces from the toe box are exerted directly to the material around the bottom eyelets. If you're okay with months of break in followed by quick material failure then these are the MTB shoes for you. Very disappointing. I've never seen suede/leather shoes fail in this way even after years of use biking. These were not crashed or abused. I take care of my gear.mtb rider

These shoes just function. As the title states, i was previously riding mtb with Vans Sk8 Hi. I loved these shoes and figured i would give a mtb specific shoe a try. These truly are a night and day difference. I bought them for a trip to Arizona and couldnt be happier with them after close to 100 miles on them so far. After riding on a pair of Freeriders for a season, I finally upgraded to the Freerider Pro. I was interested in the stiffer sole for more efficient pedaling, a bit of extra foot cushioning, and the extra breathability. Can confirm that it does all of these significantly better than the regular Freeriders. The only area where I'm less sure about it but suspect it will get better as they break in is in outright grip. It could be the softer soles of the Freeriders providing a little more pedal feel but whatever it is, I feel like I do stick to my pedals a little bit better with regular Freeriders. The difference is close enough to where I could use either shoe anywhere I ride, but so far I would prefer the regular Freeriders for very bumpy/rooty trails for the extra grip and the Pros in any other situation. The Pro's feel a bit larger than the Freeriders for the same indicated size but close enough to where sizing down isn't necessary. The sizing is the same as my regular street shoe size. The build quality on the Freerider Pros looks great so far as well. No loose stitches and durable feeling materials. Looking forward to piling more miles on these.

These shoes just function. As the title states, i was previously riding mtb with Vans Sk8 Hi. I loved these shoes and figured i would give a mtb specific shoe a try. These truly are a night and day difference. I bought them for a trip to Arizona and couldnt be happier with them after close to 100 miles on them so far. The shoe was overall pretty narrow when I tried it on at home, so I can only imagine how much more narrow they would feel when your feet had swollen a bit from the increased blood flow from riding. I got the "mesa" colorway and felt that they looked a bit like a dress shoe which is weird because I don't feel that way about sambas, which these are modeled after. The last/sole are stiff though and the stealth rubber is as good as its hyped to be. Had to return them due the the width issues unfortunately. I would think that these would be great shoes for around town riding, commuting, or some bmx/urban freedride stuff. They don't have the padding that the freeride or other more robust models have. On the whole a fine shoe for lighter duty or when you'll be on and off the bike a lot but wouldn't recommend for heavy trail or enduro ridingDan
I needed a stiffer shoe than my sneakers for road bicycling between 20 – 30 miles due to foot fatigue. At first this shoe worked OK, but after several rides I noticed the insole was super thin and my feet hurt. Once I replaced the insole to a more robust one used for sports, my foot pain went away. Shoe is also heavy. But on the positive side, it was affordable.Cathy C
I have been a five ten fan for years. It seems as through now that Adidas is really taking over what used to be a great brand is going down hill. I have owned about 5 pairs of the Sleuth over the past few years. They were my go to shoe for everything. The had simple restrained styling and a perfect fit. This new version is now Lets see how many logos we can throw on here so you can be a walking billboard. Anyways despite my reservations about the looks I was willing to give them a try since It is really hard for me to find a shoe that fits me well and the sleuth has been my favorite show for years. Needless to say this shoe was not it. In every Five Ten product I have ever owned I wear a 9. In fact I wear either a 9 or 9.5 in every shoe I own, but not this one. 9 is super long and super narrow I would need an 8.5, but those would be ever narrower. Anyways I am done with five ten and it makes me sad. I know they got bought out by adidas awhile ago, but they seemed to be doing their own thing up until recently. Quite presentable so they can also be used at the office as semi formal/casual shoes after commuting to work and that is why I bought them. The michelin rubber is also grippy. Having said that, I use other shoes for DH/Enduro riding and those (shimano) are a bit more grippy than the Etnies. The Etnies look awesome though and look like normal shoes. I've worn a wide variety of clipless shoes and was really excited to give these a go. Right out of the box they are very light yet stiff. They are pretty comfortable from the first wear, too. The main problem with these shoes is the plate which the cleat mounts to. Even when torqued to spec, the cleats have a way of not cinching fully to the plate. Most clipless shoes have plates where cleats can dig their teeth into the bottom, but the Chamber lacks this. As such, I've gone through 3 pairs of cleats now because they twist on the shoe and get stuck in the pedal. With 20 years of riding clipless, I've never had a problem this many times with the cleats. Great design and feels good on feet, but with this problem is major. 2 Stars.MATT

I upgraded my pedals and was wearing regular hiking shoes until I came across “flat pedal shoes”. After trying on several styles and brands the 5/10 was a good fit. They made a big difference on the bike while pedalling for stability and comfort. For sizing I normally wear a size 10. I went up a half size to a 10.5 which was a perfect fit. I’d suggest if you’re ordering or trying on to maybe try a half size larger than what you normally wear. Another bonus is that the soles should not deteriorate as I’ve seen with regular shoes when riding with flat pedals.TJCB
I am very disappointed in the quality of the PrimeBlue Freeriders. From the beginning, these shoes have been nowhere near as grippy as my old pair of Freeriders. I used to have to pick my foot up to reposition it on the pedal. With this pair, my feet slip whenever I ride through any rocky terrain, especially if it's wet. I tried replacing my pedals since a couple pins were worn, but these shoes never gripped like my old pair. It just led to a lot of frustration and bloody shins. In addition to the grip problem, the soles started to tear after only 4 months of use. I don't ride that much (90 minutes every week or two). so I expect to get more out of them. My old pair lasted 4 years and never showed any signs of wear like these. I've now retired these shoes in favor of some RCs and couldn't be happier.MJK
This is my first pair of mountain bike shoes to ride with flat pedals after 20+ years of clipless riding. The grip is amazing. I really like the freedom to be able to switch my foot position on the fly. My typical shoe size is a 9.5 but that felt a bit big for my foot so I went with a 9. This might be from typically riding in a size 42 clipless shoe in a tighter fit. For me that just felt more familiar and comfortable. Unfortunately that means my toes end up close to the end if I wear them loose. The soles don’t feel like they would be comfortable for super long walks or hikes but that is not what I’ll be using them for anyway. The material of the shoe is really comfortable and a bonus that it is made from recycled plastic.natedogg

Only been out a few times but very comfy even on a peddlie cross country route. Easy to do up and fairly water repellant. The deep and long groove behind the cleat is great for locating the foot when you don't want to be clipped in.
