Owning this book is better than not owning it, especially if you're new to California or if you are planning some traveling in California. The book has some helpful information including maps, distance, difficulty, elevation, ride type and season for each of the trails reviewed. Each section of this book has a different author, which brings a variety of perspectives. The book also includes a foreword by Cindy Whitehead, Slalom, Downhill and Cross-Country Mountain Biking Champion, IBMA Rules of the Trail, and welcoming letters from the Bureau of Land Management U the US Forest Service. The cons: For Southern CA residents, this book will not be as helpful as a mountain bike book that is more specifically dedicated to the reader's local area. Also, there is the possibility that the things have changed since the book was written in 1993. I'd recommend using internet research in addition to this book for anyone who is going to plan a mountain biking trip. This book doesn't even mention most of my favorite trails!2-wheeling
