Best Bissell Vacuum For Hardwood Floors (2025 Update)

I purchased this vacuum back in May/June of 2021 and have had the last 6 months to really use this thing and put it to the test and honestly- I'm not impressed. I'm already way past the return window, so I just wanted to leave a review for others so people can know my personal experience. It doesn't have the suction to pull the cleaner/water out of any rugs or carpet I own. So, we are left with wet carpet for hours after using this. It also does not clean the floors properly with the brush. It's really just moving dirty water around while only sucking up a small fraction of what I have put down. There are dirty water streaks every time I use this to mop. When using the vacuum dry, the dust and hair clog up the filter within minutes and I have to empty it multiple times while vacuuming, even though the container itself is not nearly full. I have a long haired cat, and I myself have long hair. Neither of these things have agreed with this vacuum. If you have a cat and plan on vacuuming any cat litter with this- don't. It will become a large clay litter clump in the suction tube of the vacuum that you have to get out yourself. It will also leave nasty gray streaks of litter/water on the floor. Additionally, my fallen hair gets so tangled in the spinning brush that I have to cut it off. Honestly, that might not be avoidable or the fault of the vacuum. My hair also gets caught on the sides of the spinning brush and becomes an unmanageable mess that can't be removed. This was probably my worst "big purchase" of 2021. I got the Crosswave Max as a splurge birthday present, but I do not like it at all. It is not convenient. Have to assemble before each use, fill with water and their solution (cannot use just water for brush head reasons), then after use have to run the brush clean function and disassemble and clean all the other parts and let them dry. So you need a dedicated area for all this, just like a full on carpet cleaner. In all that time it takes to assemble and clean up after, I can bend over and pick up or sweep up any of my toddler’s mess AND warm up and use my steam mop. Going back to the brush cleaning cycle, it does not do much to clean the brush. The brush remains dirty, discoloured, and unless you soak it in detergent for at least 30 minutes with a good rinse after (blue dish soap, or laundry soap, or their solution, etc), it will remain dirty and leaves a lot of streaks and milky film on the floor the next use. I have darker floors, so it looked disgusting after the wetness dried. I would have to use my steam mop after using the crosswave and the pad would be very gross after, but atleast the floors would finally look good. It’s also a slow machine to use. You basically wet the floor area going slowly so it’s evenly wet and then have to go over it several times to try to dry it as much as possible. You have to do this section by section. It would take much too long to do only my kitchen, where I could sweep or vacuum and mop it in half the time. This machine is a great idea in theory, but it is not convenient or efficient and left my floors dirtier than before using it. The company states the brushes need to be replaced after ten hours of use (I did not use it nearly that long and the brush heads were awful after a short time) and they are not cheap to replace. Also have to use their solution, again not cheap. For such an expensive device, it requires a lot of additional costs.Melissa O

I was a bit worried with so many negative reviews, but I love this vacuum. It is so light and easy to carry around. It picks up everything as long as you frequently empty the filter. I also take a can of compressed air to blow the filter clean from the inside out. It is well made, and all the parts fit well. I like the floor cleaner for picking up pet hair because it has no rollers where the hair gets tangled. The blue color is beautiful, and the unit leans against the wall without falling over. The cord could be a bit longer, but I have a lot of outlets, so no problem. I am very happy with the purchase. The price was very reasonable.Nancy

Just bought myself an early Christmas present, the crosswave pro pet multi surface vac/mop. Really amazing how it cleans up, you see/feel/smell the difference instantly. I have health issues so sweeping/mopping is a challenge for me and i needed an easy option that worked. I have multiple cats and this is amazing with cat fur/dried up hairballs/cat litter etc, the fact that it separates all the icky stuff from the clean water makes the biggest difference…you will be in shock how much gets ckeaned up. Now this beautiful household tool needs care in between using it but i like the finished product so much i don't mind the clean up after and still easier then sweeping and mopping with way better results, plus i just put it up on my counter for easy access for the clean up. Tips: 1) don't use with a wet filter, always put a dry filter in. 2) get a baby tooth brush to get in small crevasse. 3) sweep out corners or hard to reach spots into where it can be vacuumed because this machine cant get to them. 4) i didn't get cordless because i don't want to deal with future batterie issues (not saying it happens but more likely then a cord) put top of cord on hook as you vacuum, easier to control cord dosen't get in your way. 5) clean spray holes if needed with paper clip. 6) make sure if you are dumping dirty water or cleaning off in the sink you have a drajn catcher because pet fur and gunk gets everywhere, you'll see as you are clean everything off and dumping water out, don'twant that going down your drain. 7) go slow when spraying the water, give wet vac mop a chance to do its thing. 8) make sure everything is dry b4 you put back together so no mold or smells start to happen. Like i mentioned, if you take care of this it will continue to take care of your floors and rugs. Ps: Not paid to write this, just a regular human. I paid for my crosswave and i really love it. No love is as great as the first, as they say. I bought this last year but after taking it to a friends house and power washing and vacuuming their entire 2 bedroom apartment for 5 hours straight for 2 days in a row, i think i mightve found the breaking point of this product… Haha, so after it wouldnt turn on, i returned it. I ended up going through 3 other new vacuums and returned them all, only to repurchase this as the 5th one. As i mentioned in the previous review for the Bissell Proheat Duo Pet vacuum, this one here was the absolute perfect size for a 5'3 girl living in a small apt. Its great in smler spaces and even if the suction is not as powerful as the Proheat Duo vacuum, this one does a good enough job for the size and its ease of use cant be beat. Cleaning it is suuuuuuper easy, refilling the water is super easy, and all i gotta do is just press a maximum of 2 buttons. (Meanwhile the pro heat duo has me feeling like an airplane technician, after having to take out a bunch components to clean it which was NOT easy and having so many buttons!!!) Im a bit OCD with vacuuming my carpet all the time (every day) and im always very pleased with the carpet cleaning after i wash it. Overall its been the best model i have found for a Wet/Dry vacuum so i highly recommend if its for a 1 bedroom apt. My only gripes are that this is not easy to push!!! Also wish it could suction better when going BACKWARDS because it only suctions good moving forward but not if i pass over it backwards and if the suction would be stronger too. As a mom of three, and dog owner, I was absolutely ecstatic to learn I was selected to review the CrossWave X7 Cordless Pet Pro vacuum through the Stellar Review Testing Panel. Everyday messes are definitely a regular occurrence in our home, and I'm usually left with three options: Lug out the large vacuum, and haul it from room-to-room, changing outlets every few minutes; hunch over with my dust-buster for 20 minutes (which is not kind to my neck and back); or leave the mess until later. As a neat-freak, the latter of the options is never my favorite, and I'm generally left either killing 20-30 minutes when I could be doing something more productive on top of becoming frustrated and left with a stiff neck. So, needless to say, when the option for a cordless stick vacuum (dedicated towards pets and kids), I was like a kid at Christmas. I love this product! The three settings make it easy to switch between our hardwood floors, area rugs, and there's a turbo setting that is great at getting those stubborn areas that can really use some extra attention. The product is lightweight, holds a charge (I can vacuum our entire home easily on one charge), and I've found it's a great alternative to throwing my rugs in the washing machine. We have quite a few area rugs throughout our home (all washable due to kids / pets), which is great – but they are a hassle to wash / dry, lay down properly after-the-fact. With the wet / dry function on the CrossWave, I can literally run the vacuum over my area rugs for 1-2 minutes, and when done, they look like they've just been washed. Pet hair, cereal, everyday messes are easy to clean up, and the product is easy to charge / set-up and use. If I had to review any negatives, it would be two features. First, hard to reach places (under furniture, and particularly stairs), aren't the easiest to clean. Second, the instructions point out to clean after every use (highly recommend or I've found there is an odor with use).designgal78

Just to start off this is a fantastic product. We bought some appliances so we got $400 best buy gift cards and i had a $55 certificate from best buy(which the online guy that was supposed to help us never applied still a lottle mad about that and its expired now but whatever). Did some research it was between this and the Tineco floor one S5 but we ended going with this because we do have a few rooms with carpets. The pros: .It can clean our house (roughly 2,000 sq ft) on one charge. .That turbo mode is WOW!! .Easy to maintain and clean .Very lightweight .it makes cleaning so much faster The cons: .Maybe its the formula we are using but it is extremely soapy but started using less and it works much better. .it doesnt get the carpets the best( we know ots for area rugs) but on turbo mode it will do a room full of carpet just wont pick up too much of the water but man does it pock up some stuff! .the dirty tank gets full quick The 4 star is mainly for the price of it it is a lot of money for what you get, but honestly we have no Rugrets not even one letter! We are going to order the brush specifically made for carpets and try that out and see how that works and also some little tips. . Run the clean cycle after every use . After you are done cleaning and ran the cycle and cleaned your equipment take off the roller and put it in the holder to let it dry .once a week (i tried doing it every day but its too much) do a nice deep clean of your machine if you take care of it, it will take care of you.Ivan

This is a great concept but a failure at both being a wet jet and a vacuum. First, it didn't come with any accessories, it is only meant to clean floors. No attachments for stairs, couches, drapes etc. The only time a light comes on is when the trigger is pulled for the wet jet so you can't see going under furniture, which is difficult anyways because this vacuum doesn't lay flat. The wet jets don't spray evenly so there are constantly lines on the floor. The rollers stay wet so dirt and grime cling to them and when you go onto your rugs the dirt and dust transfer into the rugs. Just gross. For those with cats, litter touches the wet rollers and turn to wet clay and clog the system. The vacuum portion isn't really strong enough to suction litter out of tile grout. Just leaves it there wet. I had cut my hair and tried to vacuum up the little pieces left behind but the vacuum failed. It suctioned up some and then I'd move the vacuum forward and they'd all fall out. Emptying the dirt container is made more difficult because of the wetness. Dirt,dust, hair, fur,litter is now all wet and glued together and didn't empty when tilted over a garbage can. Plus the container itself has so many grooves and pieces for stuff to stuck to. Great product! I wish I would have bought it sooner! Alot of the negative reviews read simular to complaining that a walk behind/push mower won't effectively mow through 2 ft. high thick grass without stopping or complaining that the dishwash didn't remove/clean the queso from
your crock pot that was left on for 3 hours… com'on!? That being said, you will have to vaccum/sweep up prior to using, especially if you have dogs that shed or alot of debris as it does not function as a HEAVY DUTY vaccum (this isnt a shop vac) nor is it a rug doctor/deep carpet cleaner either. Its very easy to use and makes cleaning bare floors nearly painless! I have 2 large dogs & 3 childern, so I "pre" vacuum before using every time. (Just like scrubbing the caked on queso) only if you have a Rumba type machine and use the Crosswave after it's done most of the debris clean up, you dont even hVe to. It's amazing. The frequently mentioned "clean up" after using is comical, ITS NOT THAT HARD OR MUCH MORE WORK! As you would ring out a mop or rinse the bucket post cleaning… same concept, only on a much smaller, less messy scale. You will have to let the filter dry before using, but you can purchase additional filters for next to nothing online (6 for 12 bucks). If you're looking for an easy, convenient, hardfloor cleaning you won't regret it!Sarah Laper

I purchased this vacuum because my house has hardwood/tile floors and I have cats. The vacuum is lighter in weight than other competitors in its class. I have only used it on high suction power, but the hard floor tool picks up cat litter like no other vacuum. I can even put it up to the baseboard and it gets all the dirt. I don't need to go over the baseboards with an attachment anymore! The handle grip is very comfortable and makes vacuuming easy. Lastly, the dirt tank is small, but removes and empties very easily, making up for the size. Thank you for making an affordable product that outperforms most vacuums.Ruth

I could not understand how this floor cleaner received such high reviews. Then I noticed that many, many of the five star reviews indicate the reviewer purchased the cleaner “as part of a promotion.“ This cleaner is terrible and is being returned immediately. On the hard floor function, it was dispensing freshly no solution onto the floor. On area rug mode, it dispensed more solution, but the cleaner basically moved the dirt around on the hardwood floor without picking it up. I need a very clean portion of the floor, it’s still left impressions from the brush. The floor was left hazy, and tacky to the touch. I have had similar floor cleaners which worked much much better. I was able to purchase this for $238 on sale. Now I know why it was on sale. It was a complete dud. It is frustrating that I had to assemble it, and now disassemble it and go back to the store with it. From now on, I will be really skeptical about products reviewed that were purchased as part of a promotion.VAshopper

Bought this Bissell as a replacement for my last one after the second hose on it broke and I did not feel like spending more to fix it. Right after assembly I was unimpressed with this model as it felt cheap and flimsy. I decided to give it a try anyway just to make sure I wasn't mistaking the simple difference in the models with actual problems so here are the pro's and cons: Pro's – Light with Decent Suction It's a vacuum and it did what it's supposed to do; picked up dirt. The bristle design on the unit was better than the previous model providing a better overall pick up of hair and dirt in the carpet. The previous model had a large space where the drive belt was located thus leaving a spot where no hair/dirt/dust would be picked up and that problem is fixed here. The space is much smaller and more aligned with the rest of the bristle design. Cons – Terrible wheels, Doesn't go "flat", drives itself into carpets instead of gliding over them, lower motor never turns off, and the one I purchased had a defective hose So, first off I noticed the wheels on this were smaller than my previous model which made it terrible for moving and turning on carpet. On top of that the way the unit is designed to raise and lower the front for carpet or bare floors meant that pushing it forward was terrible as it fought against the carpet by pushing down into it instead of moving across it. I have a standard short carpet and have never had such a problem prior. The unit also only goes to about 45 degrees from upright when you try to lower the top to go under things like tables before the front of the vacuum lifts off of the ground resulting in it not doing any actual cleaning. My previous bissell used to go nearly 90 allowing me to reach completely under my dining room table instead of going all the way around it to vacuum under each side in order to reach the middle all the way around. I was also amazed to discover that there was no control to turn off the lower section brush of the vacuum. That means that when standing upright in the locked position to be used to clean curtains or blinds the bottom bristles were still going full speed against the carpet. MAYBE I overlooked the button but I did not find it on the machine, the vacuum included only a quick start/assembly guide that did not show how to turn it off and I also checked review video's on Youtube to see if anyone showed it and you can see that in all of them as soon as the machine is turned on while in the fully locked upright position, the brushes start going. WHY would you not allow the bottom to be turned off? Lastly after I used the vacuum that first time I noticed that the top hose had a hole in it where it looked like it had been melted during manufacturing. All in all this vacuum was a disappointment and my last three were all Bissell models. Sadly, each one has lasted fewer years than the one before it before needing repairs and to buy a brand new one that felt cheap, flimsy and was obviously built to a lower standard of quality was the last straw. With this machine Bissell lost me as a customer. I returned it to Target and had it been a better machine I would have exchanged it as defects in manufacturing simply happen and I understand that. But due the overall experience with it I opted to get my money back and go with another brand recommended by family and friends.Mike

This little wonder is basically a hand held vac with a handle. But don't let the small size fool you. Performs better than my canister vac. Plus it is light weight and easy to maneuver, Plus it is easy to empty. Perfect for vacuuming under beds or other tight places. And to top it off, the price is very affordable.ubfinebirds

The kids and I love it. Super light weight. It has a decently long cord. I love how you can use the little gray piece AND the handle To reach up high in ceiling corners or fans. So I bought this product in 2021 but when it had broke I was a month since my warranty was done. Now I also purchased this one Bissell Adapt Ion Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner which now has done the same thing but thankfully it's a month before the warranty ends and I will be taking it in. I'm not impressed though I lost out on my other vaccum which these aren't cheap vaccums. But I like the fact they were cordless to do my hard floors. These are Canadian Tire exclusive. Only sold by Canadian Tire. I would expected alot more from the product. Never had issues like this before.Twinmama

Absolutely love this little, lightweight vacuum! I didn’t expect much but I was shocked at the amount of debris this thing picked up. I run it around the main floor daily and am always impressed at how full the cup is. The design allows the handle to bend to fit under items easily and it’s super easy to clean/empty the cup after each use. We had an expensive Dyson that didn’t work any better than this Bissell and the customer service with Bissell is really really top notch. After two+ years the battery was starting to not last as long and when I enquired about replacing it (the battery), they sent me a brand new replacement vacuum..!! Definitely would recommend…just remember to empty it after each use.Tool and Dave

The good reviews must have been from people after their first use. My daughter loved hers and sent me one. I loved mine too. Until we both used it again. I see the same problems from many other users. Does Bissel read these reviews? It did not stay charged long enough to finish. It would not even stay on when plugged in. The hand held would function but who wants to sweep your floor with a handheld? Since I'm seeing a recurring problem I can't believe the company doesn't know about the problem. Out of the box, the vacuum was great. Sucked up everything. Within a month, it was basically a glorified hand vacuum. The only way I can get it to do anything is to use remove the hose and the attachments. The actual suction when using it upright is terrible. It vibrates like a dolphining F1 race car, makes a hideous popping and hissing sound from the side, and worst of all, leaves fuzz, dirt , and giant hard balls of lint all over my floors rather than actually cleaning them. Using this vacuum is more work than simply using a broom and a hand held dirt Devil. Customer service was helpful in trying to fix the issues but the suggested solve didn't work. The vacuum is a lemon…complete waste of the time and money spent.Card Lady

It does quality performing for pet hair to include the turbo extension tool for upholstery. DO READ ALL the instructions so you know how to properly use it. Don't assume! The tools are ill placed with the placement and storage of the electrical cord (always falling off). The telescope for the hose to attachments doesn't lock properly and always ALWAYS pushing back in. I don't have an issue with pet hair on the roller getting stuck, but I do with human hair and any amount of length to trash. The spot where the hose connects to the canister is constantly getting clogged because it is small and narrow, needs to be wider. Pay CLOSE attention when taking the filter out of the canister and putting it back; there is a reason it is meticulously marked. The alignment must be perfect or it won't go back together properly; this is the same for everything on the vacuum. Hard to push when vacuuming (hence one of the reasons I said to read instructions carefully)? You have to provide some air to release the amount of suction, so it moves easier with the little knob on the left; by the way, it moves also on its own.feltermail

Within 1 minute of its' first use this model #2475 Pet Hair Eraser Turbo had its' brush roll stop spinning before a small 10×10 foot area was complete. The belt assembly is centre mounted so debris from both sides of the brush roll collects towards its' centralized belt motor which sits open with nothing to protect it from debris. This results in it being the furthest thing from the "tangle free" unit it is advertised as. Removal of the head screws holding the bottom cover in place is quite easy so I was able to see what was causing the jam (see picture attached). The manufacturer claims the unit can accept hair length of 4-8 inches. The longest of the hairs in this pictures is 3 inches, so the job in question should have been well within the manufacturer's guidelines. Upon reassembling the base the unit promptly got jammed a second time. After once again removing the clog I decided to give it a different task, cleaning hardwood. This unit has a key feature for those with hardwood floors, its' brush can turn on/off, saving your hardwood from being scratched by the roller. Sadly there is very little suction (see video attached). I found without the brush roll spinning the machine picks up essentially nothing. The last major feature this unit is its' heavily marked "pet hair eraser" attachments. The Pet Turbo Eraser" is nothing more than the same "turbo brush" or "handi-mate" that has been commonplace on vacuum's since the 1950's. The "two in one" pet brush is a traditional fabric brush as is the crevice tool. There is nothing fundamentally different with these attachments than what is industry standard from most vacuum suppliers. I've had Bissell units before, the last being the significantly cheaper "Clearview Alergen Lift-Off Pet Upright Vaccuum." It lasted 2 years before dying a few weeks after its warranty expired precipitating the purchase of this Turbo model. All in all a poor vacuum. Don't buy this.Jimmy

With our dog and our new baby all over the floor, we were getting much more worried about fur everywhere. I have a very good vacuum and hand vac already, but the vacuum is heavy and cumbersome and my back is not built for vacuuming the floor with a hand vac. This vacuum was a perfect addition to our home because it is light weight and portable, like the love child of the two vacuums we already had. It is also quiet, so I can vacuum the baby's arena everyday while she naps without waking her up. I feel silly since this in addition to so many other vacuums, but I didn't have the energy to pull out the big one on a daily basis, especially trying to get under furniture and plugging it into different outlets to reach the whole house. My Bissell is not as powerful, but I use it daily so the fur doesn't accumulate and it is better for our lifestyle. And since it has the hand vac attachment, I could have bought just this one instead of my previous two. Oops! Highly recommend, would buy again in a heartbeat. It's also easy to empty/clean and gets under furniture really well.Michelle

I greeted the Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum with curious skepticism. Having used several vacuums in the past I knew the benefits and drawbacks of corded and cordless vacuums. I tried a Eureka cordless vacuum in the past and the battery took over 12 hours to charge for just 15-20 minutes of vacuuming power, with the suction power being extremely light. I also had a cordless vacuum by Puweike which constantly fell down because I didn't mount the stand against the wall as I had mostly dry wall in my place. I prefer cordless vacuums because even though the corded vacuums owned by Hoover and Oreck offer more power, they are a pain to move from room to room due to having to constantly disconnect and reconnect the cord. The Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum addressed all of these concerns and offered some unexpected surprises. This vacuum took less than one minute to assemble with only two parts to put together. I only had to charge the battery for four hours until it was ready to use. Upon charging it, I noticed the vacuum stands upright, so there is no need to add any mounted stand to the wall as it can be stored anywhere. I also love that I could turn on the brush roll on carpet and off on the hardwood to prevent scratching. The suction is extremely powerful to pick up even the smallest crumbs and I couldn't believe how easy it is to maneuver with the handle folding to get under the sofa. There is a huge bonus to this vacuum as well with the detachable middle which becomes a handheld vacuum for sofas and chairs. Another bonus is the brush and crevice tool for corners and upholstery. The dirt bin is so easy to empty and put back in the vacuum as well. I would recommend the Bissell ReadyClean Cordless Vacuum to all my friends and family. This lightweight cordless vacuum is exactly what I needed. I have a good sized 1 bedroom apartment that I share with a cat. A few rooms have area rugs and the rest is all vinyl flooring. I am constantly fighting a battle against cat hair, litter particles, and dust. And losing, until now. This is a dream on my vinyl floors and low pile rugs. I have a large thick pile rug in the living room that this does not work so well on. The suction makes it hard to use when going against the grain of the rug so I use it everywhere else and get the old vac out for that one spot. It’s what I intended to do anyway so I didn’t take off a star. I think it’s swivel makes maneuverability fantastic. The battery works great, assembly was quick and super easy, it’s small and sits upright in a corner charging. It came with three handy attachments for with using the hand vac. The cord isn’t too long or too short. It’s just right for my needs. I am so impressed with this vacuum and happy with my purchase.MelissaV

Bought this off the Bissell site thinking it was the best canister and that the design would nail what customers who actually vacuum need. This machine came promptly and is light weight, but has a smaller head and bagless chamber than the one I was replacing. Assembly was easy, yet directions were scant. After using it twice I realized the main handle and tube does not stand by itself, so if you need to move something in the course of vacuuming and take your hand off the main handle, rod and tube all come crashing down to the floor or hit something on the way down. You cannot store this machine with the handle standing, but must use a shabby slot on the back. Also the handle itself does not have an on/off button. Rather the user must push a button on the main part of the machine and not let go of the handle, as it will fall and hit whatever is in its path. Also, I have found that it's pretty difficult to open the bottom of the dustless container. So far, I've have to almost pry it open. These features are essential for the user/customer, but ignored in the design of this vacuum-Why?Bob in NM

I do not usually post reviews, but I am so angry that I decided that I must. This vac was purchased new from Canadian Tire one year ago and Bissell no longer can supply the foam and felt filters for the tank lid as I have been told that this vac has been discontinued. I have a house with wall to wall carpeting. This vac must be completely taken apart each time it is used and thoroughly washed. When the filters that came with this vac are no longer able to be used I will have to buy a new vac and it will not be a Bissell for sure. I think that a company as large as Bissell should continue to carry replacement filters and parts for their products for many years in the future. Just because you discontinue a product does not mean stores are not still selling it. You cannot expect to keep customers if you do not support your products.Gail

I have a golden retriever and bought this to replace my broken Kenmore canister vacuum. On hardwood it works ok but the area rug and front and carpets it's not good. You cannot adjust the beater brush height and on anything but a low pile it's not very good. I leave it on full power but that makes little difference. Takes 3 times as long as my old vacuum as you have to go over the area 5 or more times to pick up the dog hair stuck in the carpet and rug. The only reason I'm even keeping it is because emptying the canister is better then the bags I used to have to throw out. I am happy with its use on the hardwood and tile but very disappointed with it on carpet. I'd expect more for the price.Retriever owner

I love canister vacuums so this is why I chose this model. I only have two oriental area rugs and the rest of my house is hardwood. This machine cleans both-You simply manually switch on the foot of the floor nozzle. Things I love: The filter system makes your house smell great! The suction is very powerful and there is a way to reduce it on the handle As you are vacuuming or on the canister in advance. The easy emptying dirt tank. Easy to rinse filters. Super long RETRACTABLE power cord. The handle has an ATTACHED dusting brush. Metal, very long extension wand. Things that would be nice: less heavy canister; a more detailed instruction booklet ( I figured out On my own I could reduce suction on the handle, And no explanation on how often you rinse filters). An on off switch on handle would be a great addition! Also my handle does not click into the extension wand as described in the user guide. I assume this is to make it easier to switch to dusting.Gail

I love the power of this vacuum and the extended wand. We have 10ft. ceilings and it helps get cobwebs. However, the cheap lightweight head is frustrating to use. The wand clip that allows you to adjust the reach broke after 6 months. I long for the days of the metal vacuums with heavy rubber head with brush!MamaTaxi59

My house can be pretty hectic- we have 4 (soon to be 5) young kiddos, 3 puppies, and 4 cats. Cleaning is something that happens all day long, pretty much constantly. One of the biggest pain points is keeping the floors clean because try as we might, if our youngest isn't trying to eat something off the floor, the puppies will. Enter the Bissell Surface Sense Upright Vacuum. This thing has legitimately been life changing. If you have pets, I'm sure you have fought with vacuuming, or sweeping, up their hair. As soon as you get close to it, the hair blows away. Not with this vacuum. I don't know what kind of magical technology they put in this thing but it actually attracts and vacuums up the hair, it doesn't blow it away. Additionally, something both amazing and quite terrifying, the light on the front of the vacuum makes hair and any sort of floor debris stand out like it's a beacon. It makes it super easy to ensure that all the hair and debris is cleaned up because you can't help but notice it with the light. It's terrifying because it shows just how much hair is truly shed, which is way more than you initially imagine. I should note that my floor is probably 75% hardwood, 15% vinyl planks, and 10% carpet. The way this thing changes the height of the brush automatically is phenomenal. I can move from room to room with such ease. I have another pretty high end vacuum ($500) and this one beats it every single time. I can vacuum an area with my other vacuum and then go through with this one and the amount of stuff it picks up is phenomenal. The one and only downside to this vacuum is that it does not flatten/recline back very far so cleaning under tables and chairs can be a challenge. You can use the extension and the attachments to reach these areas, but it would be way more convenient if you could just do it with the vacuum. I received the Bissell Surface Sense Upright Vacuum as part of the Stellar Product Testing Panel program. Bissell has always been a favorite brand for floor care but this tops them all! The Bissell Surface Sense Upright vacuum is intuituve, by sensing between hard floors & carpet. Making it a breeze to vacuum all your floors, & even gets the debris along edges well too. Or this function can be switched off to run the brush continuously. It almost drives itself & takes little effort to push around the house even on the thickest of carpets.The handle can be removed to expose the wand for the versatile, convenient, & very useful attachments. My favorite is the uniquely shaped crevice tool that also has a led light that helps you see those hidden places, & get them clean. But I absolutely love the tangle free brush roll. Despite having a long hair dog, 3 adults with hair to their waist, & 5 young kids, I never had to pull hair from the brush, & only had to empty the canister, as I despise cleaning hair. The canister is big enough to vacuum multiple rooms, & is simple to remove to dump without leaving a mess behind. When removed, you can also access 2 different filters, one on top of the canister, on underneath which makes for an ultimate clean. It also has suction control on the handle which makes it convenient to switch to the best settings for different areas. Overall, it is very accessible, & versatile making an upgrade on performance, & design that makes this Bissell Surface Sense Upright Vacuum, the best Bissell yet!Carollucy303

We have 2 cats (one black fur, one white fur. So no hiding their shedding). For the price this vacuum is awesome. It picks up dirt and pet hair well (both from shaggy and short carpet). I love the upholstery attachment. It does wonders getting all the cat hair stuck in the couch cushions out. When they say that hair won’t wrap around the brush, they are speaking the truth. On my previous vacuum I had to cut the hair out twice a week. For this one I haven’t had any hair wrap around the brush yet! If I had anything negative to say it would be that it’s a little heavier to push and handle and the plastic parts are not as good of a quality as the $400 shark I’ve had before. But that’s nitpicking and comparing it to something's more than twice the price. If you have owned really expensive vacuums before, yeah, it’s noticeable that this one isn’t a $400+ vacuum, but it vastly exceeded my expectations.Formercouchpotato

This vacuum is just ok at best. When I first used it, it worked fine. I had to get used to the settings for the different types of flooring in my house. It always left a burning plastic smell if I used it on my carpets, but I could never find a reason. I just figured the motor was overheating and would only use it in 10 minute increments. (Which is beyond inefficient. As a single mom, I don't have all day to wait for the vacuum to cool down). After a few uses, the stair attachment (a cheap plastic, horribly designed attachment at that) did not work despite my best attempts to fix it. Next, the brush on the crevice tool started falling off so it was useless. Finally, after vacuuming my bedroom one day, the vacuum began shaking violently when in use. After examining it, the brush roller was melted and not connecting to the vacuum properly. I guess that explains the burning smell. I can either replace the roller, or get a new vacuum. I am going to use the motor and parts to build the kids some gadgets, and I'm going to spend the extra few dollars for a Dyson.Sweet Jane

I pride myself on being a clean person and like to think I'm on top of things in my home but this vacuum should come with a warning, "Be Prepared to Be Grossed Out." I was not ready to witness what was living in my carpets!! After years of pushing around what I assumed was a good vacuum from a different brand I decided to upgrade and I regret not doing it sooner. I'll admit I wasn't too impressed when I unboxed this unit but once started I changed my mind. This vacuum is powerful and easy to handle. The suction power is STRONG and you'll feel it right away even when using the Turbo Eraser but I promise the proof is in the waste cup. #sweepstakes because I truly love this vacuum and need more Bissell products in my life.Debbie
