This is hands down the best curly hair gel on the market. I use 2-3 pumps for my whole head and scrunch it in after applying a leave in conditioner to very wet hair. It starts by drying hard but then as the day goes on, your hair looks and feels so soft and the curls are still in place. If i’m looking for a stronger hold because of a slick-back ponytail or something, I usually opt for a stronger gel like Not Your Mother’s. I branched out a year ago to try new products for my wavy hair and I stumbled on this one. I wasn’t sure at first because it’s a weird texture. Kinda like a watery gel. I wasn’t 100% sure it would help my hair. Omg. I was so wrong to be skeptical. This stuff is in my everyday hair arsenal. I scrunch this into my wet hair after a shower. Sometimes it’s all I use and it leaves my hair soft and gently defined. If I want stronger definition, I add in Marc Anthony’s curly mousse right after this and scrunch it in with a t-shirt then let air dry. Feels just like snot!! And gets the job DONE! So just so that you know, I’m a lazy 4C natural. Meaning I do bare minimum to maintain a few strands of hair on my non-chemically treated hair. I literally do not use styling products, partially out of laziness but even more so out of fear of breakage and dryness etc. I took a chance, and for the first tome in years, I tried a styling product, and this was it. The Hold me down gelle is my go to styler for my wash and go styles. I have 3C/4A high porosity color-treated fine strand dense curly hair (whew!) and this styler gives me the elongation hold and definition for 5 days with minimal touch ups. My hair gets more voluminous each day while maintaining its definition which I love! Day 4 is my favorite because it’s the perfect happy medium for volume and definition for me. Hi I don't normally write reviews but when something is as good as this gel there needs to be recognition. I was gifted this gel about 4 months ago it didn't really appeal to me but I was in a rush to get to work after washing my hair and couldn't find my regular gel. Long story short, I use the gel last minute on soaking wet hair and no leave in conditioner (I'm 100% natural 4c by the way) and to my surprise not only was my hair moisturized and soft but lasted 4 days straight without reapplying. I am shocked and amazed. I wish I can give more than 5 stars.🤩
I stumbled across the Green Apple & Aloe Miracle Hold Gel online, while searching for a replacement for the Passion Fruit Curl Control product I had used for years. It was getting hard to find and stores would only have 1 or 2 on the shelves or none at all. It also seemed to make my hair come out, but it was the best I could find but began to use it less and less, and just wore wigs. When I saw the Taliah Waajid line, I was pleasantly surprised and ordered it. I liked the "No parabens, sulfates, phthalates silicon, synthetic dyes, mineral oil, animal use, alcohol, gluten or GMO" in the description. I also liked the oils it used: Castor oil, aloe vera, olive fruit and nut oils and vitamins which were in its ingredients list. Well, the result is 5 stars for my 4c very hard to hold hair!!! Past products caked or hardened, and most of all, broke off my hair and mid day, flyaways sprang up and the product melted down my face. This gel is hands down the best one ever. I tried the Alaffia curl gel for wavy/curly hair first and it didn't have a strong enough hold to define my curls, so I tried this curl custard next. This one left a MUCH stronger and crispier cast on my hair, which was fairly easy to scrunch out. On my first attempt, I really coated all of my hair with the gel. On my second, I tried using less and I liked the results better. My curls were lighter and bouncier but the strong hold was mostly still there. I was really hoping to like this product as it seemed explicitly aimed at curly hair. However, after using it for a week I was really underwhelmmed. Sure, it's better than most products out there but not by much. The product is very sticky and doesn't seem to have much of a hold. Instead, the gooeyness just dries on your hair leaving it dry and frizzy. I get they are trying a more natural product but that doesn't change that its ineffective. I have low porosity fine 4 a/b/c hair and its hard to keep product buildup under control. I also am sensitive to aloe vera and protein so its hard to find products. This shampoo cleans my fine curly coily hair but does not strip it. It removes the product build up. It does lather which I like. I would recommend transferring this product into a color applicator squeeze bottle which can be found at a beauty supply store. It makes application much easier. The product is thin but it does not take alot to lather. Also, I prepoo with apricot oil which is super moisturizing and great for fine hair (baggie method overnight or with heat cap for 30minutes). Very creamy. Put in refrigerator and hardens up. Lavender smells really nice, but my husband doesn’t like it so we bought the odorless one. I bought this to try for my frizzy dry damaged hair and ended up my husband uses it as wax/gel/hold for his short hair. He loves it! So we bought three! I use it on hair ends and massage into my scalp. It is creamy so only a tiny bit goes a long way (or else hair gets oily). Definitely recommend it! Well, for this price it is really good as hair gel and damaged hair revitalizer. Plus we both use it everyday. I did not bother to try other castor oil butters. I usually use JBCO in oil form but it's hard to control de quantity sometimes. Since I discovered the other butter from sunny isle (JBCO lavender), I combine the two consistencies and I'm delighted. I purxhased this version and it has its own characteristics, youncan definitely feel that there is coconut oil (which my hair ans skin love) The butters are very usuful for a precise application, they melt easily but do not lose consistency in the jars, and are even super useful to nourish and control wdges and fly aways… beside being perfect to nourish the scalp on general. Since it's summer time I've been washing my hair more frequently due to all the sweat (sorry if that's gross) this has kept my high porosity, 3B, medium textured, medium density curls happy, moisturized and HEALTHY! This product is AMAZING!! It is my multipurpose, go to product. I use it fr shampooing, cowashing and general conditioning. It is so moisturising that I could hardly believe that it is a sulphate free cleanser. It leaves my hair nicer than when i use an additional conditioner. It also cleans my hair wonderfully without leaving it stripped. It also makes it super easy to detangle, and between wash days, I use it as my primary cleanser, especially to remove gels for my wash and gos. I absolutely love this product and the blueberry scent is absolutely delightful! The size offered is a little small, but I literally only need a small amount to clean and lather my hair. i love this! i have fine 2a hair and bought this to define my waves and condition my dry hair at the same time. i use this on wet/damp hair as a gel and on dry hair to revive my waves and lock my style in place before braiding my hair. it doesn’t leave any crunchiness or residue and it doesn’t weigh my hair down in any way. i think this is a great versatile product that can work on any hair type, although i would be cautious if you have hair that’s prone to being over moisturized because the ingredients are very nourishing. also – i absolutely love the scent! i know all camille rose products come with heavy fragrance and while that may not be some people’s thing, it’s a huge plus for me. i love sweet gourmand fragrances and this is no exception. i anticipate this jar lasting me a very long time but i will definitely repurchase when the time comes!z
So thin curls beware that this is def a heavier product.. but ooweeee i def see a difference when using this! Less hair breakage, more conditioning & actually long lasting curl hold! I mostly do wash n gos so idk how it is for twist outs. Im actually kinda scared because it can weigh my hair down. Another con is that while it does define curls, it will kind of seal it so my thin curls will almost look stringy & see through because its almost like a gel.. if that makes sense. If you have thinner curls i feel like you get me! But i believe this is my 2nd or 3rd purchase of this but it honestly will be my last bcus of the cons. Im more looking for volumizing products that give me the hydration, anti breakage & longevity that this gives! But for thicker hair?? You guys will LOOVEEEE this! I have only used it once so far but I did enjoy using it in conjunction with the Camille Rose Coconut Water Leave in. I let the leave in sink into my hair and just wet it the next day before applying this cream. I think you could use it on the same day you wash but have not tried this way yet as I was looking for a more elongated style and wanted my hair to stretch out more and be more on the damp side when twisting. I would follow the directions though and use on wet or damp to wet hair than on dry hair. I was looking for something to twist my hair and keep it moisturized and more clumped together so it could maintain moisture under my protective styles and was pleased with how long the moisture lasted in my hair and how it helped to reduce frizz. I did undo the twists to see it it would have a lasting hold and I was satisfied. I would like to, down the line, do a twist out with the product for a longer period and see how long the definition would last but the moisture lasted me about 3 days before I felt the need to re moisturize it, not to be confused with washing it over again, but scrunching in a moisturizer to keep my hair from getting dry. I do think using a butter on top would further help maintain moisture like the Camille Rose Brown Butter Melt or to help further control frizz, especially if it's humid, but great moisture and hold for my 4B/4C high porosity coils that honestly need a lot of moisture to keep my coil definition and more importantly moisture in my hair. Really worth the money to me and the best twisting butter I have tried.Faith

I heard other reviews and videos rave about this mousse and had to try it. I have to say, they are right. I have fine texture, low porosity natural hair. My hair is short, but when stretched the back comes to my collar bone and the front comes to the end of my nose (to give you a reference). I get good definition using a gel, but this product really defined my hair, and I had more body. Body is a problem for those of us with fine hair. My curls lasted 4 days, especially in the top which is longer. My hair is shorter on the sides and since I sleep on my side the definition fades sooner. I still had a little definition on my sides day 4, but the top still had curls. The first time I used it I only used a moisturizing deep conditioner and the mousse. It did great defining my curls, but left my hair very dry. The next time I used a moisturizing deep conditioner, leave-in conditioner, a moisturizing gel, and a sealing oil with the mousse. Sounds like a lot, but this is the process I have to use every wash day to keep my hair moisturized for 3 days. I did not have any problems with dry hair at all this time. I have thick heavy waves/curls. The product worked well when I used it with a leave in conditioner. The day I was in a rush and didn't put a leave in my hair was course and felt dehydrated. It doesn't help to clump your curls on it's own, but was easy to style and mold my curls with my brush. Dried quickly and smelled good. I didn't get a chance to use it for a long period of time to see the overall quality. The bottle untwisted just enough while under my sink and spilled. Luckily I had it in a container. The bottle easily untwist. You should keep the product right side up and make sure it doesn't knock over. Unfortunately it's the bottle quality that keeps me from buying this again. I would suggest checking The Doux’s channel on YouTube to see how she uses the styler depending on the length of the hair. I have a short natural tapered cut and the mousse works best went I finger twirl the top and front. I love the slip and the shine. Even though the hold is soft – it survives my sweaty workouts. i decided to try this in conjunction with the sheamoisture low porosity line. i have thick 2b, 2c, 3a hair but not a ton of it. it's been damaged over the years from heat and coloring and probably from using the wrong products this whole time. my hair is low porosity and protein sensitive but this mask as a deep conditioner once a week has absolutely transformed my hair. it's soft both straight out the shower and air dried. it's not as tangled and way easier to comb through which has made my hair fall out a lot less. the mask is thick but has good slip and i don't feel my hair is stringy when i'm running it through my hair. i don't think i've ever felt my hair this soft before. highly recommend if you have dry, moisture resistant hairpia
I liked the texture of this and the way it applied. It was very smooth, had great slip, absorbed into my hair rather than just sitting on top and because of how well it applied, a little went a long way. Once I rinsed my hair out, I felt like it could’ve been softer and shinier. I’ve definitely used deep conditioners that left my hair feeling much better than this one. I don’t have curls, my hair is mostly straight. My hairdresser told me I may be in protein overload so I researched the best nourishing products without protein. I bought this and I did as the instructions asked. My hair looks and feels better. The smell is nothing to me. My hair is also thin and fine and it didn’t weigh it down. I barely used any. I’m very optimistic with this product after just one use. You don’t have to have curls to use this. Everyone needs a good nourishing mask!

I absolutley love this stuff. I have one section of my hair in the front that gets damaged and dry because i wear a helmet for work, and i can never get it hydrated. No matter the deep conditioners or ph balance shampoo and conditioner, nothing has worked for years. This stuff does. My hair is uniform now. A little goes a long way and if you put too much in you have to wait longer for hair to aborb it all, so start with a smaller amount and work your way up. I use it as my heat protectant too, so i have noticed that my hair looks oily after i pass my straightener through at 300° but then after the section cools off it goes away. I think its nice that it does this because i can use a boar bristle brush to spread the creme through my hair more evenly.Abby B

I was searching for a toddler-friendly hair product for my daughters hair. I didn't want to use anything that was filled with chemicals. Her hair is like mine; frizzy and it's quite coarse and hard to brush. This product is absolutely perfect to use as a detangler, softener and just gives her hair a smoother finish. It is so much easier to brush now! The scent is DIVINE and it smells completely natural. It's not over powering at all and extremely light weight.

This is the first time I’ve ever written a review! I’ve had this product now for about 2 week or so and I needed something to help moisturize my senegalese twists during this pandemic. This product exceeded my expectations! It’s not too thick but not watery either. It’s a perfect consistency and the spray bottle spritz out nice and even (I’ve had some that broke or was messy and leaked so this was a plus for me!) The product does keep my hair moisturize for a few days too and doesn’t leave it dry or brittle. It makes my hair feel so soft & revived!! My Routine: 1. Spray with plain water first 2. Spray in the leave-in-conditioner (scalp & hair strands twists) 3. Oil/Grease my scalp and my hair strands of the twist I don’t spray in the leave in conditioner everyday. The smell is okay in my opinion. It’s not strong or overbearing; it’s definitely more of a natural scent of the bamboo than I can smell of the coconut (love coconut). But, that’s just my opinion. True test is when I take my twists down and see how my natural hair will be but for now I’m really satisfied. I would repurchase this again. I did my research before purchasing and I’m happy I came across this product and it wasn’t a fail! The shipping cost, ugh, I think we can all agree we hate. I ended up paying about $17 so keep that in mind for your purchase. It took about a week to arrive instead of the 3 days but again we’re in middle of pandemic so it’s a reasonable pass. I'm always looking to try a new product, see what my hair likes and what it doesn't. I tried the apple leave in conditioner first and didn't think I'd find anything better. Then I tried this one and this just might be that one to beat out the apple and aloe leave in. I keep my hair in twists, so I've been looking for a leave in that's light and liquid enough to spray on my twists to keep them hydrated (trying to work in the standard creams just creates frizz and I end up having to retwist everything). I even tried making my own, but I'm not the most crafty type. This is wonderful from the smell, to it's amazing slip, to how well it absorbs into my low porosity hair. This past wash day, I sprayed my hair with it but didn't retwist my hair right away. That was 2 days ago. I started retwisting my hair tonight and it was still soft! No knots! The only thing is the size of the bottle. It's not bad, really, but if you have a ton of hair like me, I suggest getting more than 1 bottle. It’s not hard to go overboard with this hair oil if you have thinner hair. I would say my hair is of a medium thickness and two sprays at an arms length distance is more than enough to make my curls shiny. I do two sprays and run my fingers through my hair to evenly spread it out. It’s a thinner type of oil so distributing is easy. When I applied too much It looked like I spilled baby oil in my hair.annalee.c
I actually love this product. It smells fantastic. I have very coarse, thick, wavy and frizzy hair. I am also white. I am pretty sure Carols daughter was designed for African woman’s hair. I have purchased quite a few of their products and they are fantastic but and very concentrated. For me and As I wrote about how my hair type is, I must be very careful about the amount I use. A little goes a VERY long way. Too much will tend to become a weighed down greasy situation. Would not recommend for anyone with Caucasian fine, thin hair at all. Someone with very thick coarse wavy or curly coarse hair or African would love these products. They are phenomenal. Start with small amounts first. Great brandcolleen.k

The Hold me down gelle is my go to styler for my wash and go styles. I have 3C/4A high porosity color-treated fine strand dense curly hair (whew!) and this styler gives me the elongation hold and definition for 5 days with minimal touch ups. My hair gets more voluminous each day while maintaining its definition which I love! Day 4 is my favorite because it’s the perfect happy medium for volume and definition for me. Hi I don't normally write reviews but when something is as good as this gel there needs to be recognition. I was gifted this gel about 4 months ago it didn't really appeal to me but I was in a rush to get to work after washing my hair and couldn't find my regular gel. Long story short, I use the gel last minute on soaking wet hair and no leave in conditioner (I'm 100% natural 4c by the way) and to my surprise not only was my hair moisturized and soft but lasted 4 days straight without reapplying. I am shocked and amazed. I wish I can give more than 5 stars.🤩
I stumbled across the Green Apple & Aloe Miracle Hold Gel online, while searching for a replacement for the Passion Fruit Curl Control product I had used for years. It was getting hard to find and stores would only have 1 or 2 on the shelves or none at all. It also seemed to make my hair come out, but it was the best I could find but began to use it less and less, and just wore wigs. When I saw the Taliah Waajid line, I was pleasantly surprised and ordered it. I liked the "No parabens, sulfates, phthalates silicon, synthetic dyes, mineral oil, animal use, alcohol, gluten or GMO" in the description. I also liked the oils it used: Castor oil, aloe vera, olive fruit and nut oils and vitamins which were in its ingredients list. Well, the result is 5 stars for my 4c very hard to hold hair!!! Past products caked or hardened, and most of all, broke off my hair and mid day, flyaways sprang up and the product melted down my face. This gel is hands down the best one ever. I feel confident I won't look weird at the end of the day, and it STAYS FLAT ALL DAY!!! Thank you!
