I used the regular Jolen formula years ago and it was a very unpleasant experience: it was itchy, grainy, and turned my skin colour shades lighter for a while afterwards. As they seem to have discontinued the cream bleach I'd been using, I decided to give this another try. I was amazed at how quickly it worked compared to what I'd been using before, there was almost no skin irritation, and my skin was the same shade afterwards. I'm fair skinned with dark hair, and the hair became blond very quickly. I'm very impressed, and happy because Jolen is a lot easier to get a hold of than other hair bleaching brands; even my dinky little small town Boots carries it. Measuring is not the easiest, but even the 1:1 products can be tricky. I just used half of the 30ml cream and half of the powder which was easy enough, and that bleached my arms, abdomen and parts of my face. They include a little card for larger areas, btw, as well as the spatula.JaneDoe17
After randomly starting to sprout black chin hairs last year (yuck!) I started waxing my upper lip and chin. This did work for me for a while but I'm finding i have so much more black hair growth on my chin now then i did previously and also having to do it much more frequently because of this my last wax my chin became very irritated and had a scaly texture and i broke out in loads of spots! I suddenly had a brain wave yesterday why don't i bleach everything like i used to! I didn't think bleach would work on my stubborn chin hairs but by god it did I'm so happy with the results everything looks like baby blonde hair on my face again! When following the instructions on the box you end up with a full pot of bleach which actually you probably don't need, I ended up doing absolutely anything i could with it (toes, side burns, belly, chin, upper lip) but in doing this i would say you would only get about 3 uses out of the entire box. Next time i will do half the amount it says. I did some areas twice to really make sure id got everything and had absolutely no reaction to this although i could feel a ever so slight sting this is how i knew it was time to remove it. I bought this as an alternative to my usual Veet hair lightening kit as they had sold out. It is TERRIBLE! It comes as a kit consisting of a pot of activator cream and a thin pot of powdered bleach, a spatula and a teeny mixing pot. Its instructions say to "fill the pot up to the line with the cream" – however it's consistency is SO THICK you have to use the spatula to scrape it into the tiny pot and by this point it's all up the sides of the pot, you can't tell how much is IN the pot as the line is now very hard to see. Then it says add a cap of the powder… But now your worried are the quantities and consistencies right!? It is impossible to tell! Unless you have the patience of a saint or are a chemist, don't bother… Lol. Not worth the stress! Going back to Veet hair lightener.Squeak_green

I'm going to be honest – this product burned my face. I do have sensitive skin, but I have a pretty high pain tolerance, and this was just too much. It almost seemed like I had to cake the mixture on my face for it to even work. Sometimes it was very successful while other times, I was pretty disappointed. This works like a charm on my long, dark, thick arm hair. I know I shouldn't be so self-conscious abiout it, but it really makes a difference in my self-esteem when it is lightened. Be careful to measure carefully. If you use too much powder it may sting and itch a little bit. If it does, just use some body lotion after you rinse it off, and it will take care of it right away.Christine
I was wary of this product because of some reviews saying it doesn't work, but I'm so glad I bought this :') I have been growing a small patch of really thick, dark hairs under my chin/ jaw about the size of a quarter. I've tried plucking and shaving but it only makes them grow back ingrown. I finally decided to let the little whiskers grow out and I felt so ugly until I tried this kit! For some of the darker whiskers, it took about two bleaches before they fully lightened but this product does work!Katie

I used the regular Jolen formula years ago and it was a very unpleasant experience: it was itchy, grainy, and turned my skin colour shades lighter for a while afterwards. I was amazed at how quickly it worked compared to what I'd been using before, there was almost no skin irritation, and my skin was the same shade afterwards. I'm fair skinned with dark hair, and the hair became blond very quickly. I'm very impressed, and happy because Jolen is a lot easier to get a hold of than other hair bleaching brands; even my dinky little small town Boots carries it. Measuring is not the easiest, but even the 1:1 products can be tricky. I just used half of the 30ml cream and half of the powder which was easy enough, and that bleached my arms, abdomen and parts of my face. After randomly starting to sprout black chin hairs last year (yuck!) I started waxing my upper lip and chin. This did work for me for a while but I'm finding i have so much more black hair growth on my chin now then i did previously and also having to do it much more frequently because of this my last wax my chin became very irritated and had a scaly texture and i broke out in loads of spots! I suddenly had a brain wave yesterday why don't i bleach everything like i used to! I didn't think bleach would work on my stubborn chin hairs but by god it did I'm so happy with the results everything looks like baby blonde hair on my face again! When following the instructions on the box you end up with a full pot of bleach which actually you probably don't need, I ended up doing absolutely anything i could with it (toes, side burns, belly, chin, upper lip) but in doing this i would say you would only get about 3 uses out of the entire box. Next time i will do half the amount it says. I did some areas twice to really make sure id got everything and had absolutely no reaction to this although i could feel a ever so slight sting this is how i knew it was time to remove it. This works like a charm on my long, dark, thick arm hair. I know I shouldn't be so self-conscious abiout it, but it really makes a difference in my self-esteem when it is lightened. Be careful to measure carefully. If you use too much powder it may sting and itch a little bit. If it does, just use some body lotion after you rinse it off, and it will take care of it right away.Christine
I was wary of this product because of some reviews saying it doesn't work, but I'm so glad I bought this :') I have been growing a small patch of really thick, dark hairs under my chin/ jaw about the size of a quarter. I've tried plucking and shaving but it only makes them grow back ingrown. I finally decided to let the little whiskers grow out and I felt so ugly until I tried this kit! For some of the darker whiskers, it took about two bleaches before they fully lightened but this product does work!Katie

Let me start by saying that I am not a bleach user, it has always scared me due to the length of my hair and the fact I'm naturally a darker brown. This product not only did exactly what I expected but went beyond my expectations. It is super easy to get the consistently and mix this product for use, I have long hair and have to mix more as I go and the cream formula and product packaging made it easy. I also MUST mention how great my hair felt after lightening, where my hair normally feels brittle at the wash when not even bleaching…. that was not the case here it was soft and easy to manage. I am on a hair to journey to a ashy blonde and I was at about 6/7 at time of use (gold and brassy) and this brought me right to where I need to be to tone effectively. I am not a stylist yet I am confident in my use of this product that I would reccomend.Heather
Ok so to start, I have NEVER colored my own hair in my 28 years of existence. I always go to the salon to get it done but recently my work schedule hasn’t messed with my hair girl’s availability so I had to take matters into my own hands. I read all these reviews before purchasing this product so I figured it’s my turn to help some sisters out.. Since I’ve never done this before I was pretty nervous so I colored my roots in 2 different sessions because I knew I wouldn’t be fast enough. I did the bottom layers first with a 1:1 ratio with Ion 20 Volume Developer- Sensitive Scalp. I also mixed a tiny bottle of Ion Color Boost enhancer. I was nervous so I left it on for about 20 minutes, washed, then toned with Ion Bright White Creme Toner in Platinum Lace. Some patches were a little orangey due to the fact I only left it on for 20 min (a volume 30 developer would’ve worked better with my hair). When I did the top layers I tried mixing a 2:1 ratio with the developer and it worked perfectly. I coated my top layers root growth, sat for about 40 minutes, washed, then toned with the Platinum Lace toner. I then used a deep conditioning treatment (Sauce- Guacamole Whip is the best ever) and once I was done I was seriously so impressed with myself. Like I said I have NEVER done this before. I watched about 20 YouTube videos and read 100 reviews first though so if this is your first time, definitely do your homework because it pays off in the end. Also, don’t forget to nourish your scalp afterwards with a solid hair treatment just to be safe. In the end my hair turned out to be the perfect icy platinum and still feels so soft and healthy.
Extremely hydrating. My hair did not feel damaged at all. Things to keep in mind.. I was very close to running out of bleach. I did 1:1 ratio with 30 vol (the same line). I have 3b curly, shoulder length hair and I did not bleach my roots. If you have longer hair or want to do your roots and full length you’ll probably need two bottles 🙁 I don’t think one round with this bleach will get your to platinum. My hair was previously bleached light brown and after having this bleach on for an hour my hair is now a medium-light blonde. Definitely need a toner with this bleach because my hair was very very yellow. Overall I highly recommend and I would but it again.Ashley J

I HAD dark blonde hair. Spent a week looking at products and I wanted to be Blonde not bleach blonde just light blonde. I picked this kit because it does contain BLEACH. BLEACH is the only way to lift hair color. I left on for an hour and I look like an orange pop. The max time is an hour. I called the 18006317358 number that is on the box and they are closed today because of the holiday. So, for now I am stuck with orange hair or go to a salon and spend money, lots of it for a hair color correction. A company like this should have someone on call 24/7 if your going to have a help line and sell boxed color at stores that are open 24 hours. People do need help after hours and on holidays. I went to sally's and they said bleach it again. I am scared to bleach again so soon. So today I will wear a hat and conditioner and wait for them to open tomorrow , to maybe give me some advice on what to do with this orange hair. First, I was very SKETPICAL to use this product, because I have only ever used Ion hair color from Sally’s in Lightest Cool Blonde. I decided to give this a shot, because of the high level of ratings on this product online. I also googled and checked Amazon reviews and checked reviews on the manufacturer’s website. All had like 80% of reviewers critiquing it as high. So, I gave it a shot…. I was not disappointed at all! I am naturally dirty blond/dishwater blond and my hair lifts to platinum blond easily. This color did exactly that. It lifted evenly and gave me very, very platinum blond hair like the white, ethereal color that I was wanting. The instructions were very easy to follow. The box recommends anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes. I left mine on for 20 minutes and then checked it. It had completely lifted to platinum. My hair was yellow… THIS IS NORMAL though, because some people’s hair lifts to either yellow or orange when going so light. Go to Sally’s and get the WELLA TONER in T-14 “Palest Ash Blond” (another name is “White Lady”). I left this on for 5 minutes! BE CAREFUL not to live it on too long when it starts turning, RINSE IT OUT! This lifts that yellow or orange out of your hair and will literally make your hair look amazing!!!! This stuff includes a shampoo packet that I found to be great and it leaves your hair ridiculously soft!ksm2v
I have naturally dark brown hair which I had dyed to a dark auburn color months ago. My roots were already showing and the color I had it dyed to was fading. I wanted to bleach my hair blond and used this product. The first time my hair was orange and my roots turned out yellow. According to the research I did I had to bleach my hair again to get it to the yellow that I wanted. Well my mistake was that I used this product again. I thought it should work on the second attempt. And no, all it did was make my hair turn into an even brighter orange! I left it in my hair on both attempts for 45 minutes. Plus it had left my hair dried out. Needless to say I'll never use this again and recommend that you do not use this product. It will not make you blond. Instead it will turn you into a carrot top as you can see in the picture. This was taken after the second time I used it to bleach my hair. That was almost $20 down the drain. This works like a charm on my long, dark, thick arm hair. I know I shouldn't be so self-conscious abiout it, but it really makes a difference in my self-esteem when it is lightened. Be careful to measure carefully. If you use too much powder it may sting and itch a little bit. If it does, just use some body lotion after you rinse it off, and it will take care of it right away.Christine
I was wary of this product because of some reviews saying it doesn't work, but I'm so glad I bought this :') I have been growing a small patch of really thick, dark hairs under my chin/ jaw about the size of a quarter. I've tried plucking and shaving but it only makes them grow back ingrown. I finally decided to let the little whiskers grow out and I felt so ugly until I tried this kit! For some of the darker whiskers, it took about two bleaches before they fully lightened but this product does work!Katie

I'm going to be honest – this product burned my face. I do have sensitive skin, but I have a pretty high pain tolerance, and this was just too much. It almost seemed like I had to cake the mixture on my face for it to even work. Sometimes it was very successful while other times, I was pretty disappointed. I used this when I was a young teen because I got bullied about having a "mustache" but my parents didn't want me to shave or pluck the hairs in fear it would grow back thicker. So my dad bought me this to try and make me feel better about it. It ended up bleaching the skin above my lip. I'm 30 now and it's still noticeable. Wish I would've just plucked it.KP
works great if you're planning on using this only and never going to wax or thread etc. I used this quite a few times for my upper lip before I decided on waxing my stache completely. After waxing, I noticed that this hair bleach BLEACHED my skin to a lighter color than the rest of my face. My upper lip does not have any more hair (after waxing) BUT there it is a NOTICEABLE lighter area. DO NOT USE IF YOU'RE PLANNING ON REMOVING YOUR HAIR AFTER!!! Not sure when my skin will return its color but it better be soon!!Nicole
I bought this to bleach my eyebrows since I have dark, ashy brown eyebrows and henna + lighten my hair color from dark ash blonde to medium red. My eyebrows seemed dark by comparison, so I bleached them with this, expecting them to only go up a shade or two… NOPE! They became practically invisible. Yikes! So while I didn't like the look of light blonde eyebrows, I can't deny that the product works perfectly. I also used it on my stomach since I sometimes get darker hairs there, and it bleached my stomach hairs into being invisible, although it did leave the area red and irritated for a day. I have sensitive skin and this was not irritating at all. I used it on my long, dark arm hair (that I’m extremely embarrassed of) and it worked great! It didn’t make it completely white, it’s more of a golden colour, but I’m happy with it. It’s a lot lighter than it usually is so I’ll take it! It’s easy to use, easy to apply, and just rinses off with cold water. The only negative thing I have to say is that the mixing tray, and the spatula are sooo small! It’s hard to mix it well in a tiny tray that’s smaller than the palm of my hand. AND with a spatula that’s about 3cm long, and because it’s so little it’s also tedious to spread/apply it. But other than that I’m happy with the results, and will purchase again.samantha.k
I'm mixed black/white and I have very fair skin (I consider myself white) but I have very thick, black hair where ever body hair grows. On my face I had a few dark hairs on my cheeks. They really aggravated me & I have had them for a while, I tried plucking but it really hurt & I hated doing it because it wouldn't be long before they grew back. I decided to try this because I saw it in my grandmothers bathroom and she said she had the same problem. I followed the directions and did not leave it in as long as it said to. Because I tested it on my arm & not only did it sting but it also changed the color of my skin to white after only about 4 minutes. I rinsed it off as soon as I saw the discolored skin and the hair I applied it too was lightened significantly. I could barely tell there was any hair there. After some research I learned that the lightened skin was normal and happens because of the hydrogen peroxide and It went away after I rinsed it off. I used it on my face and rinsed after 5 minutes and the dark hairs on my face were invisible. It was awesome. It did lighted the skin where I put it but after I rinsed it off my skin was back to normal after about 20 minutes. So don't worry about it changing your skin color, it is only temporary and will go back to normal. This stuff is great and there is a lot of product in the package for the price, one box will last you quite a while. I will definitely be buying again.
This bleach cream did not work. It didn't even lighten my hair at all. I followed the directions and put the bleach on for eight minutes but all it left was little bumps. I am so disappointed. I will be looking into different alternatives. Save your money and find a more effective product.

I used the regular Jolen formula years ago and it was a very unpleasant experience: it was itchy, grainy, and turned my skin colour shades lighter for a while afterwards. As they seem to have discontinued the cream bleach I'd been using, I decided to give this another try. I was amazed at how quickly it worked compared to what I'd been using before, there was almost no skin irritation, and my skin was the same shade afterwards. I'm fair skinned with dark hair, and the hair became blond very quickly. I'm very impressed, and happy because Jolen is a lot easier to get a hold of than other hair bleaching brands; even my dinky little small town Boots carries it. Measuring is not the easiest, but even the 1:1 products can be tricky. I just used half of the 30ml cream and half of the powder which was easy enough, and that bleached my arms, abdomen and parts of my face. They include a little card for larger areas, btw, as well as the spatula.JaneDoe17
After randomly starting to sprout black chin hairs last year (yuck!) I started waxing my upper lip and chin. This did work for me for a while but I'm finding i have so much more black hair growth on my chin now then i did previously and also having to do it much more frequently because of this my last wax my chin became very irritated and had a scaly texture and i broke out in loads of spots! I suddenly had a brain wave yesterday why don't i bleach everything like i used to! I didn't think bleach would work on my stubborn chin hairs but by god it did I'm so happy with the results everything looks like baby blonde hair on my face again! When following the instructions on the box you end up with a full pot of bleach which actually you probably don't need, I ended up doing absolutely anything i could with it (toes, side burns, belly, chin, upper lip) but in doing this i would say you would only get about 3 uses out of the entire box. Next time i will do half the amount it says. I did some areas twice to really make sure id got everything and had absolutely no reaction to this although i could feel a ever so slight sting this is how i knew it was time to remove it. I bought this as an alternative to my usual Veet hair lightening kit as they had sold out. It is TERRIBLE! It comes as a kit consisting of a pot of activator cream and a thin pot of powdered bleach, a spatula and a teeny mixing pot. Its instructions say to "fill the pot up to the line with the cream" – however it's consistency is SO THICK you have to use the spatula to scrape it into the tiny pot and by this point it's all up the sides of the pot, you can't tell how much is IN the pot as the line is now very hard to see. Then it says add a cap of the powder… But now your worried are the quantities and consistencies right!? It is impossible to tell! Unless you have the patience of a saint or are a chemist, don't bother… Lol. Not worth the stress! Going back to Veet hair lightener.Squeak_green

I was able to try this product for free, complimentary for testing purposes, thanks to @Influenster and @zotosprofessionals. The packaging was very nice, but what that package says is completely different. It claims to evenly tone your hair and doesn't leave a brassy color. I was already bleach blonde, I just haven't relightened in quite some time, but I am naturally light blonde. After applying the product, to the darkest parks first and then to ends, I noticed instantly the orange looking color my hair was turning. I left it on longer than directed with 30v developer and I still ended up with bright orange hair. I haven't never had this happen when rebleaching and I am not happy with my decision to try this product.
I have tried a few different bleaching powders in the past and this one stacks up with them. I did notice that the bleach, once it was mixed with the developer, didn't have a harsh odor like I have come across with other brands. It did a rather good job of bleaching the hair as well, especially since my hair has a hard time taking to being bleached. I don't believe it was any more damaging than any other bleaching product I've tried.
I bought this bleaching powder and i have used many bleaching powders and i have to say i am so impressed with the Odor is not overwhelming, easy to apply and does the job.
