Just wanted to right a review and warn others. I mixed this bleach with ion 20 volume, like i normal do with bleaches i have used in the past. As soon as i poured this bleach in my mixing bowl i could feel it in my lungs. The bleaching proccess went well and I got the results I wanted, but my lungs continued to give me problems throughout the evening. I have a very sensitive scalp so I am used to my scalp bothering me on the normal and normally it is worse after bleaching for about a week. This time a noticed my scalp giving me a lot more problems (where I could not just ignore it!) after the bleaching process for a week or so. So my conclussion is, if you are prone to having bad reaction to a lot of different products I would not recomend this to you. However if that is not the case this is a great bleach that gives very nice results.hair=fun
I grabbed a packet of this to shift some stubborn reddish-orange dye from my mids and ends as I went back to a platinum pastel color. I mixed it with 20vol developer and before I even got 1/3rd of the way through applying it to my hair it was already hitting about a level 8 from my starting level 6-ish. after a full 45 minutes processing with some well placed foils to incubate and retain heat, my hair was a level 10. I had some spots where my previous red dye gripped hard that were a bit sunnier and more of a level 9, but I'm 99% platinum. It lifts FAST. Anyone needing to just shift a couple of levels needs to watch this process very carefully or use a 10 volume to slow it down some because it kicks into high gear ASAP. Relatively gentle too! Bleach is always damaging of course, but my scalp wasn't tight or prickly with this bleach and it shampoo-ed out easily.Audrey
The age beautiful ultra bond bleach is the ONLY bleach I use. It has amazing lift and has never damaged my hair. I use it with 20 v. Developer and it works quickly, with little to no burning or tingling on the scalp. This is a must try if you have mature hair! I am 55 and swear by Ultra Bond.

I HAD dark blonde hair. Spent a week looking at products and I wanted to be Blonde not bleach blonde just light blonde. I picked this kit because it does contain BLEACH. BLEACH is the only way to lift hair color. I left on for an hour and I look like an orange pop. The max time is an hour. First, I was very SKETPICAL to use this product, because I have only ever used Ion hair color from Sally’s in Lightest Cool Blonde. I decided to give this a shot, because of the high level of ratings on this product online. I also googled and checked Amazon reviews and checked reviews on the manufacturer’s website. All had like 80% of reviewers critiquing it as high. So, I gave it a shot…. I was not disappointed at all! I am naturally dirty blond/dishwater blond and my hair lifts to platinum blond easily. This color did exactly that. It lifted evenly and gave me very, very platinum blond hair like the white, ethereal color that I was wanting. The instructions were very easy to follow. The box recommends anywhere from 10 to 40 minutes. I left mine on for 20 minutes and then checked it. It had completely lifted to platinum. My hair was yellow… THIS IS NORMAL though, because some people’s hair lifts to either yellow or orange when going so light. Go to Sally’s and get the WELLA TONER in T-14 “Palest Ash Blond” (another name is “White Lady”). I left this on for 5 minutes! BE CAREFUL not to live it on too long when it starts turning, RINSE IT OUT! This lifts that yellow or orange out of your hair and will literally make your hair look amazing!!!! I thought it should work on the second attempt. And no, all it did was make my hair turn into an even brighter orange! I left it in my hair on both attempts for 45 minutes. Plus it had left my hair dried out. Needless to say I'll never use this again and recommend that you do not use this product. It will not make you blond. Let me start by saying that I am not a bleach user, it has always scared me due to the length of my hair and the fact I'm naturally a darker brown. This product not only did exactly what I expected but went beyond my expectations. It is super easy to get the consistently and mix this product for use, I have long hair and have to mix more as I go and the cream formula and product packaging made it easy. I also MUST mention how great my hair felt after lightening, where my hair normally feels brittle at the wash when not even bleaching…. that was not the case here it was soft and easy to manage. I am on a hair to journey to a ashy blonde and I was at about 6/7 at time of use (gold and brassy) and this brought me right to where I need to be to tone effectively. Ok so to start, I have NEVER colored my own hair in my 28 years of existence. I always go to the salon to get it done but recently my work schedule hasn’t messed with my hair girl’s availability so I had to take matters into my own hands. I read all these reviews before purchasing this product so I figured it’s my turn to help some sisters out.. Since I’ve never done this before I was pretty nervous so I colored my roots in 2 different sessions because I knew I wouldn’t be fast enough. I did the bottom layers first with a 1:1 ratio with Ion 20 Volume Developer- Sensitive Scalp. I also mixed a tiny bottle of Ion Color Boost enhancer. I was nervous so I left it on for about 20 minutes, washed, then toned with Ion Bright White Creme Toner in Platinum Lace. Some patches were a little orangey due to the fact I only left it on for 20 min (a volume 30 developer would’ve worked better with my hair). When I did the top layers I tried mixing a 2:1 ratio with the developer and it worked perfectly. I coated my top layers root growth, sat for about 40 minutes, washed, then toned with the Platinum Lace toner. I then used a deep conditioning treatment (Sauce- Guacamole Whip is the best ever) and once I was done I was seriously so impressed with myself. Like I said I have NEVER done this before. I watched about 20 YouTube videos and read 100 reviews first though so if this is your first time, definitely do your homework because it pays off in the end. Also, don’t forget to nourish your scalp afterwards with a solid hair treatment just to be safe. In the end my hair turned out to be the perfect icy platinum and still feels so soft and healthy.
Extremely hydrating. My hair did not feel damaged at all. Things to keep in mind.. I was very close to running out of bleach. I did 1:1 ratio with 30 vol (the same line). I have 3b curly, shoulder length hair and I did not bleach my roots. If you have longer hair or want to do your roots and full length you’ll probably need two bottles 🙁 I don’t think one round with this bleach will get your to platinum. My hair was previously bleached light brown and after having this bleach on for an hour my hair is now a medium-light blonde. Definitely need a toner with this bleach because my hair was very very yellow. Overall I highly recommend and I would but it again.Ashley J

This is my first time using this brand of lightener. I loved it! My hair feels nice and doesn't feel super damaged at all. My hair is about a level 4/5 and it lifted it to about a 9 which to me was perfect for putting on pink over it. I will stick to using this for a long time. I recently ordered 2 boxes of the GDY Lightening Kit from my local Sally store. When I opened the boxes to use them, I noticed that the kit was an older version of the product. The product & its formula have been updated since this kit (like it's been YEARS) and I feel like I was cheated by paying full price for these old old products. I have used this kit before many times and the older product does not lighten as well as the current formulas that they use. I'm a big fan of GDY's products and know that I'm not the only person that's received old products from Sally before. I love this powder bleach for lightening and bleaching hair at home. I do my own hair, as well as my daughter and friends and other family members and I have done so for many years…so I have tried many different brands and types of bleach and this has always given me the best results. It is simple enough for anyone to follow the directions and do on themselves or someone else. I do recommend though if you are doing your hair at home to ALWAYS first do a small test strip of hair just to make sure your hair can handle it before you put through your entire hair. Then I would do a lot of research of the products you are using and reading all directions carefully and fully a few times before getting started and also it never hurts to watch a few YouTube videos. Research the brands you are using as well and see what others have said about them, it will really make a difference when finding the best items for you to use on your hair at home. This was one of the first brands of lighteners, that I can remember, who added the blue tint to the formula- which is intended to fight against that yellow/gold look when you get hi-lites or bleach your hair. I haven’t used it in years bc they have came out with some amazing quality lighteners… but it’s not terrible. If you’re shopping at Sally’s, I’d say this is a good choice. They do not lie, this is fast acting (so work smart, but quickly), this will lift up to 7 shades. Quick Blue does have a nice, creamy consistency you can use this for both on scalp and off. I personally don’t recommend using this product as a DIY if you are not 100% comfortable… but if you like to live life on the edge, use the L’Oréal developer maybe not go higher than 20 volume:)lacey.k

I don't know why I never learn from my past mistakes but this is the third time I've used this bleach and it will definitely be the last time. I spent about two years leaving my hair alone to grow our naturally and didn't bother to color it. This bleach was the only one I could find in the store at the time and this just didn't do anything for me. It smells awful, there isn't enough for a full head, and the anti brass purple conditioner is a genuine joke. The instructions are clear and I am very appreciative on being able to have everything needed for the incredible price. This kit is dummy-proof. I had no experience in dying my hair prior to using this kit and I achieved the look I was going for. My hair is dark brown and there was no previous bleach or dye in it. I used the sectioned ponytail method and I did not tease the hair. I wrapped each ponytail in foil after fully saturating each one. I left the product on for the full 45 minutes and did check for color lift/change at 30 minutes. I used the included comb to apply the product as well as the conditioner. I have medium short hair, but I have an undercut so one bottle was enough for me. If I had a full head of hair and longer, I would probably have needed another bottle.DIYmumprof
What a mess. The black ink smears all over the bottle when you are mixing/processing/applying to you hair. Gloves are a must! It dried out my hair so I’m pretty sad. I had been using another product prior to color my hair but I wanted to try a new one and it dried out my hair & some hair was/is light orange and the rest white blonde. So terrible! I’ve been doing my own hair for 15 yrs so I know what I’m doing. When you shake the product and remove the lid it explodes all over. Went all over my bathroom wall & porcelain sink. Thin product. This works like a charm on my long, dark, thick arm hair. I know I shouldn't be so self-conscious abiout it, but it really makes a difference in my self-esteem when it is lightened. Be careful to measure carefully. If you use too much powder it may sting and itch a little bit. If it does, just use some body lotion after you rinse it off, and it will take care of it right away.Christine
I was wary of this product because of some reviews saying it doesn't work, but I'm so glad I bought this :') I have been growing a small patch of really thick, dark hairs under my chin/ jaw about the size of a quarter. I've tried plucking and shaving but it only makes them grow back ingrown. I finally decided to let the little whiskers grow out and I felt so ugly until I tried this kit! I don't like this bleach to be honest . It does lighten . But for my hair that's very dark, even using a 30-40 volume peroxide with the bleach it will maximum go 3 shades lighter. Bulk buy my bleach when I want to maintain stains in my hair. With a vol.20 -30 but definitely on the lower end. So I dont damage my hair from applying. I just bleach another round like a professional would instead of leaving a product in for more the 40 mins. Healthy hair is damage free hair. Dont forget to trim.

I've been dying my hair for several years now (since I was 14) and this is the only product that lightens my dark brunette hair (somewhere between levels 2 and 3) to that perfect platinum. I usually dye my hair pastel colors. I feel like the people who are leaving bad reviews don't know what they're doing. If you get clumps just crush it up. Like, it's not that difficult. I have curly hair (a mixture of 2c and 3a) and it doesn't ruin my curl pattern. Curly hair tends to be dryer and more fragile than straight hair. Yes, your hair is going to fall out if you're putting 40 volume bleach on damaged hair (heat damage counts; if you blow-dry and flat iron your hair constantly you shouldn't bleach your hair at home; go to a professional; I have the same advice for people with chemical treatments and perms). Common sense people. 40 volume bleach is the strongest you can use and it shouldn't be left on for more than 30 minutes. You should never bleach your hair multiple times in a short span of time (Bleaching your hair again after you just bleached it isn't a good idea especially when it's 40 volume). Wait a couple of days between each session. And if you are bleaching your hair for the first time and don't know what you're doing educate yourself. Brad Mondo and Evangeline Demuro make great educational videos on how to do your hair. I suggest using a hair mask every night for a week before bleaching it so that your hair has enough moisture and is also strong enough to handle this. Also, for the love of GOD do not wash your hair before bleaching it. Your hair needs oil for bleach to do its job. The reason why this doesn't work for certain people is that they don't take into account the things I said. Don't use this on damaged hair, don't wash your hair, don't do this multiple times in one day and don't leave it on for a long time. I have fine shoulder length 3B hair. I started from the back and worked my way to the front but got to the top of my head when I realized one box was not enough. Not a big deal for what I was going for but would have been disappointed otherwise. I put coconut oil on my ears as forehead as well as my neck. It still got burned. It felt like sun burn. A piece of hair touch my check and it burned immediately. It did the job but I'm assuming it's really strong. Unless you have a shaved head, get to boxes even if just touching your roots like I was.Kit

this small packet is great for highlights. It lifted my dark brown hair 8 levels just as the package says. I had to leave it in for about 50 min and it brought my hair to an almost white blonde. Toner and 40 developer is needed to achieve the white blonde, but this definitely works better than a box bleach.

I ended up getting the Lime Crime 20 volume kit but keeping this because it said it came with a brush, gloves, and a mixing bowl. The Lime Crime kit only had gloves, the bowl and brush/comb combo were extra. Well, I didn't open this box until the day of the bleaching, and it only had a brush, no gloves or bowl! I ended up mixing in a plastic Tupperware container with a plastic to-go spoon. I don't think they were accidentally forgotten either because there wasn't even room in the box for anything else. DO NOT BUY THIS! Go with the Lime Crime 20 volume. It still lightened my dark hair enough for bright colors but with no damage, and if you buy this "kit" you will still need to buy extra supplies anyway.Feeling conned

This stuff was so gentle that using it to correct poor lift from another brand-the following day!-resulted in no noticeable damage. No gummy hair, no breakage when combing, no unwillingness by the hair to evenly accept direct dye afterward. The formula went on evenly, easily, and lifted away all my pigment to exactly the color of the inside of a banana peel. I didn't suffer the burning others mentioned but I was careful not to apply directly to my scalp. My hair took about 35 minutes to get where it needed to be. Followed with green and blue dyes and they took like a dream! Post-processing, it's soft, shiny, and manageable. I went with Arctic Fox because people highly recommend it. Within 20 minutes of using it and only getting 1/4 of my head done, foamy liquid started dripping down my face. I avoided my roots to go back to them at the end but I had to rinse my hair out unfinished because the foamy liquid dripped down to my roots. Now my scalp is burned and I have hot roots. I don’t know if this is a defective batch or what, but now the top left side of my head is half processed and burned and I’m waiting for my salon appt on Friday to try to fix it before an important night. I wish I would have read the reviews before I used this. I have really reached an amazing blonde and I got this for my roots! I must admit the name was super catchy and I liked it had everything included with the notion that it was healthier for your hair. When I first started I should have known and stopped right away. The bleach was impossible to squeeze out and I never saw that before – there was a lot of mixture and it was runny. I read the instructions 3x before using to make sure this was right and no where did it warn of these things. I feel like if I would have let it set for 10 min and it got thicker and mousse like it work: I left in full 45 min on virgin hair and I knew it was awful before I washed out – super brassy and yellow. works great if you're planning on using this only and never going to wax or thread etc. I used this quite a few times for my upper lip before I decided on waxing my stache completely. After waxing, I noticed that this hair bleach BLEACHED my skin to a lighter color than the rest of my face. My upper lip does not have any more hair (after waxing) BUT there it is a NOTICEABLE lighter area. DO NOT USE IF YOU'RE PLANNING ON REMOVING YOUR HAIR AFTER!!! I bought this to bleach my eyebrows since I have dark, ashy brown eyebrows and henna + lighten my hair color from dark ash blonde to medium red. My eyebrows seemed dark by comparison, so I bleached them with this, expecting them to only go up a shade or two… NOPE! They became practically invisible. Yikes! So while I didn't like the look of light blonde eyebrows, I can't deny that the product works perfectly. I also used it on my stomach since I sometimes get darker hairs there, and it bleached my stomach hairs into being invisible, although it did leave the area red and irritated for a day. I'm a natural Level 5-6, which is quite dark, and have coloured my hair at home for years. I was always way too nervous of bleach to go there, but my hair was always brassy. Finally fed up with all the brass, I plucked up the courage to do bleach highlights using Color Charm bleach, and the difference is incredible! Together with a toner, I now have my dream blonde! Bleach gets a bad rap, but used properly, the results can be beautiful. I have a LOT of colour on my hair, so I needed to use 40 vol for an off-scalp highlight application. I used about twenty highlight foils, and did not brush the mixture too close to my scalp, so I had no irritation. (I did strand tests with 20 and 30 vols, and only 40 vol did the trick. Please note that 40 vol mixed with bleach should only be used for highlights, and never put onto the scalp.) I found that this bleach didn't work quickly, which might be because it had to strip out so much colour, but I didn't want it to work quickly because I was highlighting, which takes me a while. I left it on for 45 mins to get that banana-yellow shade. Afterward, I toned my entire head using Wella Color Charm toner in CT14, Champagne, which has a blue and violet base. I've found you can't go wrong with it. I used 20 vol, because I've found this this toner fades fast, although that might be due to the minerals/rust/chlorine in our water supply and in our old pipes, and because I don't use cool water. Result: Dream blonde! And it's all down to the bleach. My "before" photos are of how my hair looked using dye (9A Wella Color Charm) plus the same CT toner. Still brassy! Bleach fixed that. This is my first foray into a true double-process – bleach plus toner – and it really worked. I've always tried to lift with colour and then to tone, but it really doesn't work as well. I've been using this line to bleach my hair for years. My stylist buddy used to come in from NYC to do my hair but he ended up having some family issues that led him to a long hiatus, so I started doing my own bleaching at home using what he taught me, and I have always libed the results, whether I did it or he did. I will always use this line, it's easy to get the hang of and to learn what your hair needs are using it as you go. Good new though! I've never done anything to my hair before and I used this with 40 volume developer, and I went from black to a deep orange with one round of bleach which I think isn't too bad. I'm no professional but I'm just glad my hair didn't fall off. I did a test strand to check if my hair would get stretchy like I've seen some on YouTube after using specific bleaches, but it was fine. I definitely would recommend using a plastic bag to wrap your hair if you're not using foil, so you get an even lift and spray the plastic with some water. I didn't do this with the back, so I got patches and the hair that touched my neck was significantly lighter. As for the actual product there is a lot in there which removes panic of ever running out of bleach if you didn't mix enough. This Clairol bleach lightener powder definitely gets the job done. The lift is great just tend to make the hair a little dried out. I typically like to use this product on bundles or enchanting more so than natural hair for the fact that it leaves my natural hair feeling a bit dry. But it definitely gives great lift so that a plus if you need a budget friendly alternative to do at home.kierra.b
I’ve used this on my roots for ages when I’m coloring my hair. I’ve also used it on friends to do balayage. It’s easy to use and the smell is mild compared to one other bleach I’ve used. I never use more than a 30 volume developer with it but the instructions say you can go higher. I do believe there are other brands that might be better but for the price and the amount you get, I can’t complain. I have very thick and long hair so this container last me for 6 months of managing my roots (I mix 2 bowls each time I need to do my roots). Like a lot of bleaches, this will give you aggressive “hot root” if you try to apply all over and process at the same time. Always do the roots last! Damage is very mild as long as I don’t go over 30 volume developer. It tones very well with any non clairol brand toner as long as it is lifted high enough. *I am not a stylist but have been experimenting with my own hair, and friends/family who trust me and acknowledge my lack of license for 10 years*josee.l
Works well and quickly. There was no damage to my hair. Having experience with this product in the smaller packets, I found it helpful to use as much or as little as I needed without waste. I would caution the inexperienced user — my favorite for bleaching and the best for your scalp. The only problem is some flaky/powdery stuff gets all over you when you are putting it in your hair, make sure you cover your clothing with a sheet or towel or wear clothing that is ok to bleach. As a hair stylist I don't usually recommend at home color, but this product I actually like. It is easy to mix and the instructions are clear. It comes with a conditioning hair mask for after bleaching. It is perfect for using before the semi-permanent colors for bright results. Obviously you will need to follow directions and the same rules still apply: It will NOT achieve light blonde on previously colored hair or very dark hair. You will have to reapply to get those results. Also if you have a lot of hair you will want to get 2 or 3 boxes to be sure you don't run out in the middle of applying. Bleaching your whole head at home is RISKY so if you are wanting a full blonde color, see a stylist! However, if you are just doing some accent pieces, are pre-bleaching for brighter color results or you know what you are doing then I would recommend.Momma3
I really liked this bleach kit because I was bleaching my hair for the first time by myself in my life and it was a very easy process. The one box was sufficient because my intention was only to do highlights and it turned out perfectly. The green dye that they also offer did a really great job and it’s very pigmented. My hair did not feel dry nor crunchy and I’m very happy that I didn’t have to breathe in bleach dust as this bleaching kit is dust-free. One of the absolute best things about this bleaching kit is that it’s ammonia-free. You know that really terrible smell you get when you bleach your hair or get work done at the nail salon? it’s usually because of the ammonia in the products. This kit doesn’t have that so that when you wash your hair after bleaching and even for a few weeks after you still don’t get that terrible smell. I was excited because the reviews were all mostly good . I have peekaboo highlights in the front of my face that were dyed orange and are now a very faded orange almost a peachy color so I assumed that this bleach kit would get it pretty light if not a white but It did absolutely nothing at all !!!! My hair is literally the same color as if I did nothing to it ! Such a waste of money especially because there is barley any product in the tubes . I do not recommend! Also my box did not come with the conditioner everyone in the reviews are talking about .Alicia

I have used this product for years now, to lighten my eyebrows .It works well, is affordable and readily available. Everything you need is included, for mixing the two ingredients. I do get a little stinging, but Oh…that's the price of beauty!! For me, this is the only one I use or will use because it works!
I tried this product today because I've seen some great reviews around the internet and was the first time that I've bleached my facial hairs. It was just amazing how it looked after a easy process to make the mix, it came with it's own bowl and I believe I'm still gonna have lots of applications from it! I got this kit with the recent promotional release of the new colors. I've wanted to try this bleach kit for awhile as the color dyes have never dissapointed. I am being 100% when I say this stuff is either Hair crack or made by hair gods themselves, I used the 20 kit on my sisters down to the waist, thick, bright pink/purple/red multi colored hair with the roots grown in and it lifted to a beautiful platinum blonde in SECONDS. I have been doing hair for over a decade and I've never encountered a bleach kit that lightened as evenly or as nicely as this kit does. I am still straight up AMAZED, the texture is nice and fluffy too, just one box covered her whole head roots and all, I would buy as many boxes as possible before they're non existent or the formula changes, I will never buy any other bleach kit again!Latex
My hair is shoulder length and naturally dark brown to almost black. This #40 bleach party did a phenomenal job turning my hair to a blonde / yellow color. Obviously, I did my roots last since the roots take on the mixture very quickly . That is with any bleaching brand however… My scalp is sensitive, so days after the bleaching and dye job my scalp was very itchy, sensitive to touch, tight feeling, and felt like welts were in certain spots unfortunately 🙁 I really wish a good conditioner would have accompanied the bleach party and or even the full coverage 'moshi' dye color which I also purchased. This was my second time using Lime Crime color. The first time the color didn't take at all because I never bleached my hair… (Surprisingly, the 'mochi' color which is a lavender hue didn't take well at all even with my hair bleached as well) 🙁 My hair turned a brassy / almost highlighted red and light brown shade. I bought the 40Vol. kit last week when I was in Wal-Mart. I absolutely love that I can buy Lime Crime locally and not have to deal with shipping. This is the “softest” bleach I have ever used. I have previously damaged hair due to heat and color. I have used a lot of different products of the years and this is absolutely my new favorite. I mixed up a Bleach Wash/Bath to remove a stubborn purple/blue color and it took it right out and it did not cause any damage to my hair. After rinsing the bleach out, my hair felt soft unlike other products that feel my hair feeling rough. This is a great product for people with already damaged hair. Definitely will be using this Bleach Kit again and again.Megomyeggo
