I was looking to color my hair auburn which is exactly what this product did. I had medium brown virgin hair with a few grey's. I would suggest to apply the product to the middle and ends of your hair for 15 minutes and only apply to roots for maybe seven minutes. I did get some hot roots in a small patch near the front of my hairline. I will be googling and youtubing how to correct that spot. I would definitely not keep it on my roots for the full 10 minutes the box suggests. There is not alot of multidimension color but there is definitely color change from my medium brown. I think that the product doesn't need to be as strong as it is. I don't know a ton about color, but this company should maybe use a less harsh developer? They are trying to appeal to a large audience, but they are just messing up alot of people haircoloring experience. I read alot of the reviews beforehand so I knew that my hair would go auburn. If someone just picks the box and thinks their hair is gonna have Carmel highlights they are in for a unpleasant surprise.Sarah

I thought the product was magnificent. The one application was enough to cover my entire head from root to end and when my hair is wet it lands on my shoulders and I have naturally curly hair. I have tons of white hair or with some would call grey very heavy in the front. I have been ill and having colored my hair in 6 months. My hair is naturally black but at 55 I want it to go lighter without anything pulling red. The results are absolutely stunning. Again more than enough color cover all my hair from root to end professional disposable gloves that are easy to take on and off, and a great tube of conditioner that can last me for about three applications. My hair is so soft and shiny and the color Blended beautiful with my already black hair considering I had about 4 in of regrowth and another 6 in of black hair it Blended in beautifully.Yvette

I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. I don't know if I got a defective kit, but this product did pretty much nothing on my hair. I got it with the understanding that the result would be slightly redder than the swatches, as I was using this to reduce a brassy faded red color that did not take and lighten my light brown hair to a strawberry blonde. My original shade does, in fact match the light brown swatch on the product. However, after application, there was very little difference in the result and certainly nowhere near the lighter blonde swatch that was shown on the package. The product did not thicken very quickly when mixed (which is unusual for hair color but not unexpected as some color mixes will thicken a lot whereas some will thicken very little) and turned to a gel-like consistency after approximately 10 minutes. The product shows a 1-3 level lift on light brown to blonde hair. This product did not provide even a 1 level lift on my hair, which has always been very easy to color, even with this product line in other shades. Honestly, I could have gotten a better result with a product like 'Sun-in'. So I was very disappointed in this product and would not recommend 8.5A Champagne Blonde to anyone needing a light brown/dark blonde to a lighter blonde result. I had my hair bleached at a salon, after few months the contrast of the natural dark brown roots and the blond hair looked unpleasant to me. I made a very bad decision to color everything medium brown, and I thought how hard it could be. I don’t need to go to the salon. I got this box, and applied it according to the instruction, oh the smell of chemicals!!! I left it on the toots for 20min and on the blond hair for 5 minutes, guess what? My hair, dark brown root and the remaining blond part turned completely black, like really REALLY black. What is this garbage?Peggy

My natural hair is dark brown to black (1b-ish) (pictured) and I used the Auburn R6. I wanted a noticeable but not too dramatic red and got the perfect ginger. Some parts of my hair towards the end are darker but honestly I like the depth it gives. On sunnier days my hair looks more firey and changes to even a warm auburn/brown in lower lighting. I really like the color and think it compliments my skin tone. Instead of 25 mins I kept it for 45 just to make sure it took color 🙂 Definitely keeping this as my everyday shade for a long time, also I dyed it Feb 7th (the photos are from March 3rd 5th) and haven’t retouched yet if that info helps !TARAHMISU

I received this product and was eager to trial it. There’s nothing quite like a colour touch up to make you feel a little more refreshed and energised! The product was super easy to use and everything needed was contained in one compact box. I followed the directions with ease and all progressed to plan. The end result was reasonably true to the desired colour although my hair did end up more orange than I had anticipated. I accept this can happen with hair colours because there are so many factors that contribute to the end result. The hair colour did address my primary concern – covering the dreaded greys! The smell was not offensive as can happen with some brands and I liked the fuss free application process. A major benefit is the convenience of doing this at home at a time that suits me and a cost that is budget friendly! I have had my colour now for a week and the colour at this stage is still looking fresh with great coverage. I would suggest that anyone with thick hair or very long hair should invest in two packets and not chance a dye disaster!! I have long hair but it is very thin so one packet for me was sufficient. I received this hair dye to trial as part of the Beauty Review Crew. I have used this brand of hair dye a few times over the past couple years. In particular, I have used the shade 'Darkest brown' which is the same shade I'm trialing today. The shade has always been is a lovely vibrant colour and the colour result is similar to my natural hair colour. The dye promises to 100% grey hair coverage and it lives up to its promise. Preparing the dye for application is nice and easy. After applying the gloves that are included in the packaging, you pour the colour formula into the bottle of developer before placing the lid back on and shaking the bottle until completely mixed. It's that easy! Then starting at the roots, you evenly apply the dye. The dye goes on smoothly and, surprisingly, the dye scent isn't as strong as other brands. Other brands tend to have a strong chemical smell which makes my eyes water and nose tingle when breathing it in. Clairol have done a great job at producing a hair product with a low scent. One of the best things about Clairol's nice n' easy hair dyes is the short processing times. Unlike other brands that have a processing time of upwards to an hour to reach your desired shade, these dye have an average processing time of just 25 minutes. The short processing time means you can dye your hair during your lunch break, before a night out, or before a date, without it taking up too much of your time. The rinsing process is also quite a smooth and easy process. After applying some warm water, give your hear/head a little massage and then rinse until the water runs clear from all the dye. It normally takes around two minutes for the water to run clear. Then using the conditioning Clairol conditioning treatment that comes with the hair dye, you apply from roots to tips and leave for a couple minutes before rinsing. The conditioning treatment has a lovely scent and is nice and thick. It's almost like applying a luxurious hair mask. It glides onto the hair smoothly and evenly. After rinsing the conditioning treatment you can instantly feel how hydrated you hair feels. Dying your hair often dehydrates it and your hair can feel a little worse for wear. Clairol's hair dyes are gentle on your hair and the conditioning treatment prevents damage and keeps your hair hydrated and feeling lovely. After towel-drying my hair, I blow-dried my hair until was dry. Looking in the mirror you could instantly see how vibrant and lovely the hair colour result was, and it looked and felt really healthy. I am always so very impressed with the results every time and I often get compliments from friends and family members. As my hair grows fairly quickly, I use this product every 2-3 months to help cover grey hairs. Despite dying my hair so regularly, my hair has remained healthy and manageable, and hasn't compromised my hair in any way. The only downside I can mention is that the dye stains your skin. Normally hair spray or acetone on a cotton ball or cotton pad helps remove hair dyes from skin but I found this dye to be lot stronger and barely budged from the skin. I also tried scrubbing with soap and dishwashing detergent but the dye only faded slightly. It took a few days of scubbing before the dye faded completely. The best thing of all about Clairol's Nice n' Easy hair dyes are they cost just $9 from your local supermarket. Sometimes, you can grab them on special for just $6! SIX BUCKS! Staff Review by BC's Tamara I'm not going to lie – I have greys. Lots of them. But the Clairol Nice'n Easy Permanent Hair Dye did a mighty fine job of making them disappear! I have actually used this dye in the past, and can't recommend it enough. The range of colours on offer is wonderful as there is something there for everyone. I have dull brown hair, so usually opt for a warm shade to brighten my colour – I used the Medium Chestnut Brown 5RB. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and after spending 10 mins applying the product as thoroughly as I could, it took a simple 25 minutes to penetrate before washing it out and conditioning. The colour completely covered my greys (which was my main objective), but overall my hair looks so much healthier as it is shiny and the colour has more life to it. My favourite thing about this dye is that the colour brings out the natural highlights I have and it looks really natural. I have been using Herbatint for about 10 years, did try different colors combinations: red, brown, blond.—never disappointed with the condition of my hair after coloring. Then i decided to try the Naturigin brand. First i google it—brand from Denmark. I sought why not. Color—light Ash blond is as pictured—true Light Ash blond, but my hair felt so dry—like a hay. I tried differend moisturizer, but damage has been done. I have fine hair and i believe whatever was in this color was too strong for my hair type—it burned and got a lot of breakage. it’s never happened to me after using the Herbatint. I got this product through my first mission involving Topbox Circle. It was to try out Loreal Paris Feria Power Toner in Pearl blonde. This toner adds cooling neutral tones to any blonde for a soft finish. This can be used with and hair type or texture that contains blonde. The instructions are easy to use and there is no chemical smell which is a huge plus. There is plenty of product to use whether you have short or long hair. It's easy to use and the wait time is short. Also while the product is on there is no dripping or burning of any kind. Its fast to wash out and leaves a flowery smell behind. When finished the hair is visibly softer and light to the touch. However for me the only problem I had was it left my hair a lot drier then before I started. My hair did turn out softer and I did notice a slight change in my hair color. Overall it's a pretty straight forward product that's accessible to anyone. I recommend this to anyone with blonde hair that wants to keep it looking good, it does what the box says. #freeproductknoxvillegirl01

I have been using box dye for over 20 years and have done a lot of trial and error. If your hair is light brown/blonde or you have already dyed it and are trying to fix it – it will not work. This is for blonde hair not to fix hair dye gone wrong. You need a lift for that usually, and each individual hair types responds a little differently. Toner sits on top and enhances and usually deepens/softens the existing color (or dye that is already there). It really does help with reddish or strawberry tones which my hair really goes to when I dye it. I am a dark blonde with hidden strawberry/red under it that comes alive with regular dye. This product is amazing. I use the 8UA as a base(darker rooted base) and add highlights. Then I go over it with this to blend it all out. It turns out like a really expensive salon visit. I get a lot of compliments. It takes a few steps, but it is so pretty and worth it.JaninSF

This toner makes my hair shiny and Took my box blonde result of orange/yellow blonde to a beautiful cool toned blonde. I have used this toner 3 times and 2 of the 3 uses I loved the outcome. Note I used different brands of box color so that’s why different outcomes. The 3rd time it toned it to a darker ash but it was still better than what the box dye looked like. Plus after a few washes the darker ash blonde lightened up so it is still great product. I Absolutely recommend this. I have always had my naturally blonde hair highlighted at a salon and decided to try at home dye. Okay well there is a reason to use professional and until I found this toner I thought I would end up at a salon trying get a color correction. I received Schwarzkopf Keratin Color in 8.0 Medium Blonde from Influenster in return for my honest review. I have used boxed colors in the past but for the past 5 years I have been mixing my own hair color using products from Sally's. My hair was in need of color, so this trial came at a good time. I have never used a color that had a pretreatment for your ends. It was easy to use but I didn't see that it made any difference honestly. I liked the texture of the color itself being a cream instead of liquid like some colors. It had an odor but not strong like many blonde colors. It took a bit to wash it out. I found it odd that I had to towel dry my hair and then put on the conditioner, then wait 3 minutes to wash it out. Overall the color came out nicely but still a little brassy despite the brassy correction conditioner. It did leave my hair a little frizzy and the ends aren't as nice as usual. For a box color it is good though.jessica .b

I received a box of Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream for True Blondes and was very pleased with the results! Pre-pandemic I was in the salon for color every two months and never thought I could get good color at home. Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream made getting great color at home easy, virtually mess free, and from start to finish, it took about an hour. The instructions are easy to follow and required just a bit of mixing. My hair is a darker blonde with some of red. I used Dark Ash Blonde color and and the color came out great leaving a nice wash of color with no brassiness. My hair was left really shinny and had great dimension. The conditioner packet in the box was an amazing addition because it left my hair feeling really silky and smelling great. I would have loved a slightly larger tube of conditioner since my hair is very long and I only got one use out of it. I can't wait to see how long the color lasts but I would definitely use this Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream again.keely.n

Well I'm not a huge fan of the Schwarzkopf Keratin Color 9.1 Light Ash Blonde .😔 I normally keep my hair platinum blonde sometimes I might add another color just for fun. My hair is dry brittle from all the bleaching throughout the years but I've never had any problems with it falling out or frying until now. 😮 I thought it was interesting this kit contained a hair Serum to apply before coloring but other than that, the process isn't any different from the other coloring kits. I applied the Serum and mixed applied the color. I left it on roughly 35 minutes. After I washed it out, I towel dried and added toner . I left the toner on another 2 min. I noticed my hair was unbelievable dry . I added some Nexus conditioner let it set for a few then rinsed. While blow drying, I realized I was gonna have to cut a couple inches off my ends. So that's what I did. I personally am not a fan of this color because it's too gray for me plus there are some purple spots . I also noticed it didn't have a real bad ammonia smell like other color kits or highlighting kits I've had in the past.amanda.h

My hair was a highly dull off-black with an auburn brown tint from sun exposure. The ends (about 3inches) of my hair was a dark blond from permanent hair dye about 2yrs ago that was still growing out. My hair length is a few inches past my collar bone so I suppose it's medium length. I have high density hair (lots of hair strands) and my hair strands are thick. I would always have to buy 2 boxes of hair dye for my hair because it is so dense. However, I only needed one box of this hair dye and I even had about 1/4 of it left over. The box contains a set of instructions (which are very clear by the way), a sample of their shampoo and conditioner, gloves (which didn't break or tear), hair dye, developer, and an applicator bottle. I personally prefer using a mixing bowl and applicator brush. Next time, I will use those items instead. I parted my hair into six sections and worked one section at a time and started on the roots first throughout my head, then proceeded to the length of my hair. It states to let the dye sit for 20min but considering that my hair is a bit color resistant, I let it sit for about 40 instead. Normally, I wouldn't extend it for this amount of time, but considering this product was natural, I took a chance. I wouldn't recommend you do this but use your personal experience and judgement. The instructions strongly recommend that you do an allergy test (place the hair dye on inner elbow) and watch it over the next 48hrs to see if you will have an allergic reaction before using the hair dye. However, I did not do this. I do have sensitive skin but never had an allergic reaction to any hair dye so I based my decision partly off that. I didn't like the shampoo nor the conditioner that came with it. The shampoo made my hair tangle and it felt like it was stripping my hair. The conditioner wasn't effective in making my hair feel conditioned. The actual hair dye made my hair feel soft becaused it is packed with oils. I still would use the shampoo and conditioner since they are meant to work together after the hair dye process. The hair dye was a COMPLETE SUCCESS! It completely covered my blond ends and the entirety of my head. My hair is now black. I must state that this Poppyseed color (2N) is a NATURAL black so it is NOT jet black. I actually wanted jet black hair but the Vitamin Shoppe that I shopped at didn't have it so I got this instead. Next time, I will definitely be getting the jet black which is called Licorice (1N) which is the darkest shade. I can't wait to do it again!LovelyBreeze

I've been dying my hair for about 33 years…. other brands always left my hair brittle, dried out and stripped… the color didn't make much sense either, no matter how "natural" I tried to look. I was convinced the only thing to do was stop dying my hair and go "naturally gray". Well after 9 months of not dying my hair… there wasn't a whole lot of "gray" to get excited about…it just looked mousy and non descript…and worst of all..juat made me look older. I didn't think I had anything to lose so I tried NaturColor in Mullein Blonde… so close to my childhood hair color. I was so pleasantly surprized. On a mission to go more green, I wanted to switch out my hair dye. I found this dye in the grocery store and crossed my fingers that the jump in price was worth it. The first thing I noticed was there is almost no smell. I got some on my nose trying to detect an oder! The process was the same as any box dye. While my hair was wet, it didn't look like the dye stuck so I was worried that it didn't work right. It was also really hard for me to get a brush through my hair. Once it dried, all worry was gone. I have the most shiny amazing hair with no funky smell. It even has more volume and feels lighter. Definitely my new go to when avoiding going to the salon. Depending on your stage of gray hair, it lasts about 4-8 weeks. My hair is less than 10% gray and sits right above my shoulders. I've been coloring my hair since I started going grey at 21 and and now in my mid 40's. I've been using this brand for a few years and have always had good results. I use Naturtint for many years and I am very satisfied with the results. This brand has organic ingredients without harsh chemicals. The hair dye to easy to apply on the scalp and does not have bad smell. As a result my hair is healthy and feels very soft & shiny. It is really important for me that Naturtint cover my gray hair. I really liked how this turned out on my hair. My hair is already pretty dark but my roots grow in pretty fast so this was absolutely needed. It does not have a super strong chemical smell, and left my hair feeling soft: I have problems using color that often damages my curl pattern. This did not! This is my hair immediately after wash. For reference my hair is a medium to light brown with an ash undertone and some gray hairs. Midnight blue is really nice with an undertone of a blue tint but no actual blue to your hair. Jet black is very dark, sharp and glossy looking. Natural black still solid coverage but a softer tone to it. Chestnut brown has a golden almost auburn color to it. Red hot rhythms is stunning when first applied but quickly loses color in less than a week making your hair look very much like a box dye job. Golden blond is true golden warm tone but again you need a professional to lighten your hair first in order for the color to take all the way through your hair. I don't know who has their nose broken, but the conditioner smells absolutely fabulous. Reminds of a salon honestly. obviously when you're dying you need to have a fan going but even that's not a bad smell. Bottom line as with any color going darker than your hair tone is always easy and possible. And going lighter impossible without a bleach or toner to lighten it first before depositing color. I really liked this brand, it was new to me and this is how I feel about it. Now that I’ve went through the process of dying my hair and the color has now been in for a full day. First the packaging was very neat and you knew what you were working with. Once opened everything was in the box with easy to read instructions. I was super excited to see the dye bottle was a twist off top. Usually I have to cut the tip of the dye bottle in the boxes dye that I normally use. The dye mixed after a few hard shakes, but once I poured into my hair I could see that it didn’t mix all the way so had to give a bit more hard shakes to get it to fully mix. The liquid itself was runny, I like my hair dye a bit less runny. The smell of it was not too powering, and once on the head and scalp it did burn a bit while I sat to catch my hair. The washout was nice and not messy. A few rinses and it came out clear. The product came with a very nice sized conditioner, that has left my hair super soft. The conditioner had a very nice smell. It reminded me of tropical fruit. My hair still smells like it, and I work all day. All my hair caught the color and came out great. I would recommend trying this brand if you have it within reach. Have been dying my grey roots every 3-4 weeks for about 10 years now and nice n easy in 6N (half a box) had been my drug of choice up to now. Few formula changes later and am ready to try something different. I like that I can easily measure out what I need to use as both are liquid and mixed in a 1:1 ratio. I love that there is no overpowering odour striking as soon as mixing happens although slightly unnerving that this mixes into a plastic-like gel with no other odour?(Not sure how natural it is?) It is odd but you do get used to it, just don’t get lulled into a false sense of security and make sure you take usual precautions to clean up any spillages etc as it does stain quickly as with any other dyes. Colour-wise is about equivalent to nice n easy one and covers grey well but does seem to fade quite quickly so have just started adding a couple of capfuls of 5N to half bottle 6N when applying to roots then rest of 6N for last 5 mins on rest of hair. This is a lovely hair colouring product: easy to use and great colour results. The smell is, not unpleasant, just different. My only criticism would be that using it on my level 7/8 hair, I used 8A, there isnt enough ash in it to counteract the orange undertone that kicks up when you lighten in that mid blonde range, so it looks a bit warmer than I would have liked. Toning shampoo (blue) helps. It will probably get cooler on my second use when I retouch my roots. It looked lovely on the lighter parts of my hair though so my advice would be to use it if your hair is lighter than a level 8, but be prepared for your colour to be warmer than ash if its darker. The hair mask thats included has a, again not unpleasant, smell to it thats different, but gives lovely, shiny results. I will be using this colour product again and would recommend it.aunty_deedee

This hair colour does a great job of covering my VERY stubborn greys. And keeping them covered for a good 6 weeks. I tried a couple of others during the pandemic and once I tried this, I never went back. When salons opened, the stylist was actually pretty impressed by how healthy my hair and how “soft” the colour looked. Definitely use the quinoa mask that comes with it. And don’t scrimp on the conditioner and/or leave in conditioner and your hair will look fab!TORONTOMOM

As many of us, during the lockdown, I get bored and try to dye my hair grey. At first, I just dye it without bleaching and didn't turn out well. After the bleaching I got horrible yellow undertone and then I order this product. Now I have beautiful dark blonde dye with greyish tone, Wella did miracle and kill 90% of yellow. Product is easy to use, smell is quite harsh and hair is quite dry after using it – just use good Keratine mask after and don't use product on very dry/damaged hair. But overall result is great. I just order it again, because I can't buy it in my Country . Let me start by saying that I'm not a professional. Have I dyed my hair 10 billion times sure. But just because it didn't work for me doesn't mean it's necessarily the product's problem it could be operator error. So I've been going through the internet trying to find any possible way to get my hair white most of it's white part of it's white okay. The top layers wait and to be honest with you I'm not entirely sure how I got it to white. I was told to use while I t18 with a 20 volume developer which I purchase is Sally's. My One Stop shop for all of my hair dying needs. And I'm not mad at it I'm just not convinced that this is the product for me for the desired outcome that I'm looking for. Aside from that being that it is chemical I'm going to suggest using a hair mask after using other than that damage is minimal. But like I said everybody's different however my hair is taking quite to beat me and although I got it cut it has not fallen out yet.sarah.m

These toners work well but they smell awful! Beware of that. They're also really runny and they go dark really quickly so you'll want to get this product all up in your hair as quickly as possible. The best way I've found to do this is by making a toning shampoo: mix the toner and developer, then add a few capfuls of shampoo (you can add some water too if you want to make it runnier), then hang your head over the sink and lather it in quickly. You'll want to watch your hair to see how fast it is developing. You might only need 5 minutes or you might want 15. Just keep an eye on it! I used a mix if T18, T27, and the cooling violet 050 on freshly bleached level 8-9ish hair and it toned beautifully. I later switched to using the permanent gel with a low developer as I found it easier to apply to roots only and the colour lasts longer. But if an all-over quick toning job is what your after, this is it.member-b7e4b

Really impressed with this. I bought 7 Dark Blonde after a particularly bad 'balayage' job (mostly awful white/yellow highlights) and the colour has come out exactly as it's shown on the box. I still had my natural light brown roots and this has blended really well after being on for 20 minutes. It's obviously not the colour I wanted when I set out trying to be lighter with the initial balayage attempt, but it has rescued my hair from that disaster, and at least I can leave the house again without a hat! It's in no way very dark, and as it's a semi dye it will fade and the lighter colours will come through again a bit more in time. If you're despairing about a terrible blonde dye job and want to get back to a dark blonde/lighter brown then this is for you. I did use a purple shampoo on my hair a few days before I used the dye, although I'm not sure how much difference it made to this outcome. This dye seems to have redder tones to it after application which might freak you out initially, but it settles and blends. It does give good coverage, and the blonde comes through with subtle tones, so don't use it if you want to still be mainly a light blonde colour, you will most likely be the colour on the box. If you're looking for something to just tone down yellow brassiness then I don't think this will be for you, as I think it will initially cover your blonde. As ever, it's good to do a patch test if you're not sure you'll like the final results.Anna

I have been using this brand haircolor for years, trying different shades. I recently went through chemo therapy and lost all my hair. Since it’s grown back in its come in with a lot of grey. I have naturally medium brown hair. It is in excellent condition and thought I would color it with this new formula. So many reviews state the new formula is not as good as the old, I love the new formula. No burning on application, no hot roots, more even coverage. Many reviews also stated that the sheets are much darker than reflected on the box. For this reason I purchased suede light brown. It is so dark! Thankfully I don’t mind dark hair on myself. This is the only negative. My hair feels so soft and fluffy. And it was great at covering my greys! I will definitely purchase again. I used to color my hair with Clairol Natural Instincts about 10 years ago and never had an issue. With a special event coming up I decided to freshen my hair up with some color. Upon reading the instructions it seemed as if the product had improved since I last used it. I bought two packages, but one bottle covered my shoulder-length hair just fine. However, after applying and rinsing out the product as instructed, I noticed that my hair didn't feel very good. Back in the day it used to leave my hair super silky and soft, like a model in a shampoo commercial. But the real horror happened after I dried my hair and realized that the color I got was NOT the color on the box! I selected #4 dark brown to get a Hersheys dark chocolate color. Instead my hair came out looking like kona coffee grounds in water (aka, almost black). It looks completely unnatural and now I'm trying to desperately get it to wash out early. (In the shower for the first wash since coloring, my hair felt like even more of a bird's nest than when I rinsed the dye out. Bleh!) I have now sworn off hair dye for the rest of my life. Hopefully by the time I get to the special event this weekend some of it will have washed out.Amanda

Well I usually keep my hair platinum, almost silver, so when I received the Clairol Blonde it Up, Platinum Blonde, I was worried. The color on the chick on the box was not Platinum Blonde in my book or even close. It looked brassy and 1 level. My expectations were realistic and I knew what I had signed up for so… Roots were in need of attention so I went for it. I figured that with no bleach and a different, less damaging delivery method that the worst that could happen was an obviously bad, at home, unprofessional die job. I am completely sold on this product. I left it on for the entire 60 minutes for developing because I thought it would definitely need it. I usually use chemicals that lift 8× and can be and are damaging. Clairol Blonde it up, Platinum Blonde, the one that looks almost strawberry Blonde on the box, did better than my usual system and with no brassiness! A lightening product that doesn't damage hair, even previously repeatedly bleached hair, changes the game. The roots actually looked more natural, for bleached hair, than what I have been doing for more than 20 years. No hair fall AWESOME and my hair actually feels better than before I used it! I will most definitely be able recommending it to anyone who will listen.christina .t

Clairol – "Blonde it up" was complimentary from Influenster in exchange for an honest review. I'm someone who bleach's my roots every other month. It usually takes two bleachings to achieve my desired platinum color plus a toner. I liked the Clairol for its gentleness and workability. It took my roots from almost black to a light tone blonde in one sitting! That's more than I expected from a no bleach product. I was happy that the processing time was longer than with bleaching. It gave me more time to get it all in. The formula didn't get dry and was super easy to work with, allowing me to make parts in saturated sections if needed. With bleach that's a hard thing to do because of how quickly it dries and tangles my hair. Now the color worked well with my dark virgin roots but honestly didn't do much to the dull yellow from the previous bleaching. It smelled harsh but was noticeably less damaging to my hair and scalp. I will need to use another box in a few weeks(as usual with bleach) and I think it'll be a great overall result. I will be using it again, I'm not sure how iv never tried it before!darcy.d

Im extremely happy with the results of this color! I used this the day I got it sent to me, it came in perfect timing because I wanted to lighten my roots and put some green color in my hair. You can see in the before pictures how I had close to 2 inches of roots. When I applied Clairol’s lightener, I applied only to the roots and left a little space from my scalp. I left on for almost 50 mins (I didn’t cover it up with foil or anything to contain heat) after reading the directions. Then about 15 mins before washing it out I pulled the color a little down the strand and also put it all over my scalp! I am FLOORED with how well it lightened, along with the minimal damage. I am definitely using this again to lighten my roots. The integrity of my hair is still very strong and healthy. This is a way better alternative to bleach if your scalp is sensitive because there was absolutely no burning! If I would’ve covered my hair it probably would’ve processed faster and been MUCH lighter but I couldn’t find anything to do that at the time (winged it). I am extremely happy with the end result and how nice it looks with the green color I added!leah.p

Punky Color's Alpine Green is the best green hair dye on the market. It is such a beautiful shade of green and is extremely long lasting. I applied this dye once and it literally stayed vibrant in my hair for five months. It stains pillowcases and tubs when you initially apply it, but that ends quickly as you wash your hair. I love this dye so much.leah.s

Please disregard all the negative reviews from people who do not understand how this product works. If your hair is bleached very light and dyed with light pink, this product is for temporarily repigmenting your hair after the color has faded between dye jobs. To achieve even pigmentation, I always use this when my hair is wet. I shampoo and rinse my hair then towel-dry it while still in the shower. I comb it with a wide-toothed comb then apply either straight Punky or Punky mixed with conditioner, depending on how faded my hair is. I leave it on for a minimum of 15 minutes then rinse it out with cold water. My results are great every time.Mary Beth

I love punky color. It smells amazing and is easier to apply than some box dyes on the market. Doesn’t ruin or dry out my hair. I don’t have to lighten my hair at all to get amazing vibrant colors! I love to play around with different color combinations too. Pictured is Cherry on Top and Teal. I loved this combo! I got compliments all the time. It lasts longer than some pigmented conditioner I’ve tried in the past. It’s an excellent value for the money, one tub will last me up to 3 uses when doing an all over color.cynthia.h

Trying to find the right shade of a lighter blonde when your hair is naturally a honey and slightly brassy blonde can be challenge. My experience with attempting to actually find a good shade over the past few years to lighten and cover roots has admittedly been a case of trial and error with some of the L’Oréal Preference range lighter shades. Nevertheless, the Ultra Light Venice Blonde was a surprising gem for coverage. It is admittedly a little too light to wear during the winter months but it’s an ideal find for the summer . ( I made a first-time mistake of using the dye during the winter with an obvious appearance of being overly lightened for the time of year. However, it has also been one of the few shades that I’ve used where friends and family alike have noted and commended the tone on my hair as having a professional-finish and being quite glossy.) The appearance is one of the range’s lighter shades verging upon a very light to slight pearly blonde tone (dependent on previous shade) and so it is really ideal if you’re looking for something to help lighten brassy blonde hair or darkish roots. ( From experience, the colour typically lasts between 4-6 weeks dependent upon shade beforehand as well as coverage.)Indy

I'm a loyal fan of Preference. Leaves a great colour and condition. I wanted to even up my colour between golden a mid section to ends and mainly white/grey 3cm roots, to an all over Ashy Blonde. I read the detailed instructions and outcome on the Superdrug website and chose 10.1 Very Very Light Ash Blonde for click & collect. It says online 100% grey coverage – hold that thought!! Admittedly I should have read the back of the packaging when I received it but having already read it on the website I did think to do it again But I followed the application info & timings. However my hair did not turn out anywhere near the colours on the box, but mainly bright white/grey with some odd gold strands. I then discovered that the product advertised online must have been changed to a new formula. The actual packaging is a completely different design to that pictured online – Beware. And the new packaging says NOT suitable if you have a lot of GREY hair! I'll need to use a Toner to correct it (which I will probably buy elsewhere) having felt a little let down. Lesson is – check packaging before you use. But Superdrug please ensure your product information and illustrations are up to date – it really helps customers when buying online. I recommend the brand but don't trust online descriptions. Take the time to go in to store to do your research if at all possible. Photos show actual package design & advertised colour with new info on back and the finished colour on my hair. I expect some variant but you can see it's no match to the picture. But hair wasn't damaged at all, still feels in good condition.TBO281

So I dyed my dark blonde/light brown hair using this dye (Preference Platinum Extreme Platinum Blonde Permanent Hair Dye) and was left with yellow roots. I did a lot of research on the reviews section to see what would fix this and people said use Jerome Russel silver toner and not the white toner as the silver would sort out the yellow roots. So I put this on my roots and a little bit transferred to some of my already white hair. The result was the most minimal of change on my roots and I was left with some purple hair on the original white hair. So I was basically left with a combination of yellow hair, then purple hair, then white hair. I then tried my (salon bought) revlon ice white leave in conditioner and thankfully the purple hair went silver. I was informed to try wash any possible trace of bleach out of my hair as apparently toners won't work in the hair very well because of it. So 2 days later I tried this toner on my yellow roots (bleach London white toner) and unfortunately again minimal change and my scalp has scabbed over. I recommend if you have yellow roots in your hair, don't use a toner, wait another 2 weeks and bleach your roots again and that will do the job. Toners are too harsh on the head and unfortunately unless you have naturally light hair to begin with, they don't work work sufficientlySheep25
