Go with Excellence. I normally use L’Oréal Excellence but decided to tried something different and tried Preference in same shade I usually use in dark ash brown. Well, Excellence does a better job… Preference faded and washed out from my gray roots. I had to do a double take to make sure I used permanent dye. Well it was! I have partial gray areas I use the dye to cover. I don’t recall having this issue w/ Excellence. If you have gray you’re looking to cover, go with Excellence. I had my hair bleached at a salon, after few months the contrast of the natural dark brown roots and the blond hair looked unpleasant to me. I made a very bad decision to color everything medium brown, and I thought how hard it could be. I don’t need to go to the salon. I got this box, and applied it according to the instruction, oh the smell of chemicals!!! I left it on the toots for 20min and on the blond hair for 5 minutes, guess what? My natural hair is dark brown to black (1b-ish) (pictured) and I used the Auburn R6. I wanted a noticeable but not too dramatic red and got the perfect ginger. Some parts of my hair towards the end are darker but honestly I like the depth it gives. On sunnier days my hair looks more firey and changes to even a warm auburn/brown in lower lighting. I was looking to color my hair auburn which is exactly what this product did. I had medium brown virgin hair with a few grey's. I would suggest to apply the product to the middle and ends of your hair for 15 minutes and only apply to roots for maybe seven minutes. I did get some hot roots in a small patch near the front of my hairline. I will be googling and youtubing how to correct that spot. I would definitely not keep it on my roots for the full 10 minutes the box suggests. There is not alot of multidimension color but there is definitely color change from my medium brown. I think that the product doesn't need to be as strong as it is. I don't know a ton about color, but this company should maybe use a less harsh developer? They are trying to appeal to a large audience, but they are just messing up alot of people haircoloring experience. I read alot of the reviews beforehand so I knew that my hair would go auburn. If someone just picks the box and thinks their hair is gonna have Carmel highlights they are in for a unpleasant surprise.Sarah
I thought the product was magnificent. The one application was enough to cover my entire head from root to end and when my hair is wet it lands on my shoulders and I have naturally curly hair. Go with Excellence. I normally use L’Oréal Excellence but decided to tried something different and tried Preference in same shade I usually use in dark ash brown. Well, Excellence does a better job… Preference faded and washed out from my gray roots. I had to do a double take to make sure I used permanent dye. Well it was! I have partial gray areas I use the dye to cover. I don’t recall having this issue w/ Excellence. If you have gray you’re looking to cover, go with Excellence. More user friendly also since it’s cream based not liquid as well.Target Shopper
I was looking to color my hair auburn which is exactly what this product did. I had medium brown virgin hair with a few grey's. I would suggest to apply the product to the middle and ends of your hair for 15 minutes and only apply to roots for maybe seven minutes. I did get some hot roots in a small patch near the front of my hairline. I will be googling and youtubing how to correct that spot. I would definitely not keep it on my roots for the full 10 minutes the box suggests. There is not alot of multidimension color but there is definitely color change from my medium brown. I think that the product doesn't need to be as strong as it is. I don't know a ton about color, but this company should maybe use a less harsh developer? They are trying to appeal to a large audience, but they are just messing up alot of people haircoloring experience. I read alot of the reviews beforehand so I knew that my hair would go auburn. If someone just picks the box and thinks their hair is gonna have Carmel highlights they are in for a unpleasant surprise.Sarah
I thought the product was magnificent. The one application was enough to cover my entire head from root to end and when my hair is wet it lands on my shoulders and I have naturally curly hair. I have tons of white hair or with some would call grey very heavy in the front. I have been ill and having colored my hair in 6 months. My hair is naturally black but at 55 I want it to go lighter without anything pulling red. The results are absolutely stunning. Again more than enough color cover all my hair from root to end professional disposable gloves that are easy to take on and off, and a great tube of conditioner that can last me for about three applications. My hair is so soft and shiny and the color Blended beautiful with my already black hair considering I had about 4 in of regrowth and another 6 in of black hair it Blended in beautifully.Yvette

My hair was a highly dull off-black with an auburn brown tint from sun exposure. The ends (about 3inches) of my hair was a dark blond from permanent hair dye about 2yrs ago that was still growing out. My hair length is a few inches past my collar bone so I suppose it's medium length. I have high density hair (lots of hair strands) and my hair strands are thick. I would always have to buy 2 boxes of hair dye for my hair because it is so dense. However, I only needed one box of this hair dye and I even had about 1/4 of it left over. The box contains a set of instructions (which are very clear by the way), a sample of their shampoo and conditioner, gloves (which didn't break or tear), hair dye, developer, and an applicator bottle. I personally prefer using a mixing bowl and applicator brush. Next time, I will use those items instead. I parted my hair into six sections and worked one section at a time and started on the roots first throughout my head, then proceeded to the length of my hair. It states to let the dye sit for 20min but considering that my hair is a bit color resistant, I let it sit for about 40 instead. Normally, I wouldn't extend it for this amount of time, but considering this product was natural, I took a chance. I wouldn't recommend you do this but use your personal experience and judgement. The instructions strongly recommend that you do an allergy test (place the hair dye on inner elbow) and watch it over the next 48hrs to see if you will have an allergic reaction before using the hair dye. However, I did not do this. I do have sensitive skin but never had an allergic reaction to any hair dye so I based my decision partly off that. I didn't like the shampoo nor the conditioner that came with it. The shampoo made my hair tangle and it felt like it was stripping my hair. The conditioner wasn't effective in making my hair feel conditioned. The actual hair dye made my hair feel soft becaused it is packed with oils. I still would use the shampoo and conditioner since they are meant to work together after the hair dye process. The hair dye was a COMPLETE SUCCESS! It completely covered my blond ends and the entirety of my head. My hair is now black. I must state that this Poppyseed color (2N) is a NATURAL black so it is NOT jet black. I actually wanted jet black hair but the Vitamin Shoppe that I shopped at didn't have it so I got this instead. Next time, I will definitely be getting the jet black which is called Licorice (1N) which is the darkest shade. I can't wait to do it again!LovelyBreeze
I've been dying my hair for about 33 years…. other brands always left my hair brittle, dried out and stripped… the color didn't make much sense either, no matter how "natural" I tried to look. I was convinced the only thing to do was stop dying my hair and go "naturally gray". Well after 9 months of not dying my hair… there wasn't a whole lot of "gray" to get excited about…it just looked mousy and non descript…and worst of all..juat made me look older. This is the first time I have used this brand so was slightly sceptical. I wanted a cool dark blond as my previously colour was beginning to look brassy and my hair was very dry. I looked into several options and chose this brand and colour based on the reviews. I wasn’t disappointed. The colour is lovely, very similar to that shown on the box and it took away the brassiness. It has faded slightly after a few washes but not too much. My hair was left feeling soft and shiny. It has a multi tonal look and I’ve had many compliments on the colour. The instructions are easy to follow and I would highly recommend this product.JO G
i haven’t used a permanent dye in awhile. the smell of this is quite strong & a little stingy if hair gets close to your eyes. my hair was probably 2 shades lighter & more of a chocolate brown with random greys. the dye did a great job of covering them & toned the brassiness. i wouldn’t say my hair is completely ashy now it does reflect a teeny bit of reddish tones in the sun. the conditioner gives hydration & didn’t make my hair dry/knotty like some do. i’ll continue to use the toning conditioner over the next few weeks & give an update. also gloves in the box are great. they actually fit properly & don’t slide off, covering your wrists too. all in all good for a permanent dye although use plenty of vaseline around the hairline & neck it does strongly stain. i couldn’t get a random splotch off my leg for a few days.grace223
I’m not quite sure what people are doing wrong, but I have used this product for years if not decades to cover up grays. I have black/brown hair with bright white grays and I use the dark brown color. The color lasts for two months . I have no problem with matching- because the color always “reveals” itself at two weeks- which is normal for all box dye in my experience. I love everything about this kit. I purchase extra gloves nitrile, hair dye brushes, cheap butterfly clips and disposable shower caps. I do it on a day where my hair is greasy because I’m about to take a shower (this protects my scalp from the color and my hair from damage). I mix the color and developer together and let it sit while I rub the pretreatment in with my gloved hands. I shake up the color a lot (60 seconds!) and after I see actual color develop I shake it some more and then start applying. I apply to the top of my hair, brushing it in and then I clip that section off. I work in sections, top, sides and back and then let the dye work for 40 minutes from when I finish applying- cover it with a disposable cap so I don’t drip dye everywhere. I use all of the bottle for my shoulder length hair. This is key!!!! You need to let the part of your hair that is seen the most sit for the entire time. I rinse it out with cold water only (gloves!!!) and then add the conditioner (the whole tube) and let it set in my hair for 5 minutes (also in a cap) before rinsing it out with cold water and washing it with color safe shampoo in cold water. I do not apply this with a comb. There is a comb attachment- but I use a brush to spread it on my hair and the comb attachment to spread it on the brush. You want to paint your hair, soaking it with dye. The other trick is that when I shower, I condition first before I shampoo. This keeps the color in more and I get an incredible volume without my hair getting crunchy.tiziny

Go with Excellence. I normally use L’Oréal Excellence but decided to tried something different and tried Preference in same shade I usually use in dark ash brown. Well, Excellence does a better job… Preference faded and washed out from my gray roots. I had to do a double take to make sure I used permanent dye. Well it was! I have partial gray areas I use the dye to cover. I don’t recall having this issue w/ Excellence. If you have gray you’re looking to cover, go with Excellence. I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. I don't know if I got a defective kit, but this product did pretty much nothing on my hair. I got it with the understanding that the result would be slightly redder than the swatches, as I was using this to reduce a brassy faded red color that did not take and lighten my light brown hair to a strawberry blonde. My original shade does, in fact match the light brown swatch on the product. However, after application, there was very little difference in the result and certainly nowhere near the lighter blonde swatch that was shown on the package. The product did not thicken very quickly when mixed (which is unusual for hair color but not unexpected as some color mixes will thicken a lot whereas some will thicken very little) and turned to a gel-like consistency after approximately 10 minutes. The product shows a 1-3 level lift on light brown to blonde hair. This product did not provide even a 1 level lift on my hair, which has always been very easy to color, even with this product line in other shades. Honestly, I could have gotten a better result with a product like 'Sun-in'. So I was very disappointed in this product and would not recommend 8.5A Champagne Blonde to anyone needing a light brown/dark blonde to a lighter blonde result. I usually never do at home hair dye kits, I always go to the salon. But if I’m super desperate and neeeeeed a quick fix, this is what I get! Directions are super easy and getting everything ready is a breeze. Application is the hardest part, just because it’s hard when you can’t see everything or are doing it alone. It isn’t terribly hard though and the coverage is great. I did panic a little because for the first five minutes it looked a reddish color on my roots, but it went away and darkened like it was supposed to. It smelled really nice and I love the conditioner that comes with it, and is used for weekly treatments. It started to make my head itch towards the very end, but it wasn’t bad and I was actually surprised it didn’t itch way sooner. It also smells AMAZING. I've made many concessions during the pandemic — safety first! — including my usual monthly salon visits. Too depressing to let the gray grow in, so I've been coloring myself, generally with L'Oreal. The formula is relatively easy to apply. It doesn't drip. (Not their fault, but I still have trouble with the back of my head.) I really like the conditioner that comes with the dye and my gray is covered nicely. The thing is, medium ash brown is darker than one would think. (I tried a lighter shade, which also had problems.) If I was confident in applying my own highlights, that would likely resolve the problem. All told, I suppose I'll continue for the foreseeable future.meredith.r

Well I usually keep my hair platinum, almost silver, so when I received the Clairol Blonde it Up, Platinum Blonde, I was worried. The color on the chick on the box was not Platinum Blonde in my book or even close. It looked brassy and 1 level. My expectations were realistic and I knew what I had signed up for so… Roots were in need of attention so I went for it. I figured that with no bleach and a different, less damaging delivery method that the worst that could happen was an obviously bad, at home, unprofessional die job. I am completely sold on this product. I left it on for the entire 60 minutes for developing because I thought it would definitely need it. I usually use chemicals that lift 8× and can be and are damaging. Clairol Blonde it up, Platinum Blonde, the one that looks almost strawberry Blonde on the box, did better than my usual system and with no brassiness! A lightening product that doesn't damage hair, even previously repeatedly bleached hair, changes the game. The roots actually looked more natural, for bleached hair, than what I have been doing for more than 20 years. No hair fall AWESOME and my hair actually feels better than before I used it! Clairol – "Blonde it up" was complimentary from Influenster in exchange for an honest review. I'm someone who bleach's my roots every other month. It usually takes two bleachings to achieve my desired platinum color plus a toner. I liked the Clairol for its gentleness and workability. It took my roots from almost black to a light tone blonde in one sitting! That's more than I expected from a no bleach product. I was happy that the processing time was longer than with bleaching. It gave me more time to get it all in. The formula didn't get dry and was super easy to work with, allowing me to make parts in saturated sections if needed. With bleach that's a hard thing to do because of how quickly it dries and tangles my hair. Now the color worked well with my dark virgin roots but honestly didn't do much to the dull yellow from the previous bleaching. It smelled harsh but was noticeably less damaging to my hair and scalp. I will need to use another box in a few weeks(as usual with bleach) and I think it'll be a great overall result. I will be using it again, I'm not sure how iv never tried it before!darcy.d
Im extremely happy with the results of this color! I used this the day I got it sent to me, it came in perfect timing because I wanted to lighten my roots and put some green color in my hair. You can see in the before pictures how I had close to 2 inches of roots. When I applied Clairol’s lightener, I applied only to the roots and left a little space from my scalp. I left on for almost 50 mins (I didn’t cover it up with foil or anything to contain heat) after reading the directions. Then about 15 mins before washing it out I pulled the color a little down the strand and also put it all over my scalp! I am FLOORED with how well it lightened, along with the minimal damage. I am definitely using this again to lighten my roots. The integrity of my hair is still very strong and healthy. This is a way better alternative to bleach if your scalp is sensitive because there was absolutely no burning! If I would’ve covered my hair it probably would’ve processed faster and been MUCH lighter but I couldn’t find anything to do that at the time (winged it). I am extremely happy with the end result and how nice it looks with the green color I added!leah.p

I picked this colour probably about 6 to 12 months ago. Wasn't sure about it at first. I have dark brown hair naturally. I usually dye it a chestnut colour. So this is a bit different than what I usually dye my hair with. But people have been complimenting how they love the colour my hair, so I kept it this colour since then, and I absolutely love it. It is my favorite colour for my hair. I really hope they don't discontinue this colour, as this will probably be my lifetime hair colour lol….. Although I'm having troubles finding it in stores right now, so it's making me a little worried that is just a limited time. And if that's the case, I don't know what to do for my hair colour. I do wash my hair with cool to cold water though. It helps keep the red bright longer. One thing though, it does continue to run every time you wash your hair so when your hair is wet it will stain your towels, or your shirts, or bed, or pillows. But I guess that's part of dying your hair red as it will always have the colour run. Does a great job at covering up the grey hair. Please keep this colour!!SPARKLES
This is the first time I have ever dyed my hair, I’ve had naturally red curly hair all my life but wanted to change it up a bit. I’ve always wanted to dye my hair burgundy so I got shade BR2 passion fruit. I will say it is such a pretty color but it isn’t exactly like the picture on the box. I’m sure that’s to be expected especially since I already have natural red hair. The color turned my red hair into a darker color with purple undertones, there’s definitely a noticeable difference which is what I was looking for. The reason for 3 stars is because this hair dye smells absolutely HORRIBLE. The whole time I was applying it to my hair my eyes were watering as well as my nose burning. It felt like I had inhaled a ton of chemicals, even almost 10 hours later It still feels as if I’d inhaled chemicals. This was my first time dying my hair at home. I have medium brown hair and when longer it has natural highlights. Since I wear it short, the darker colors clash with the gray, so I got this since the box matched my natural color. It definitely covered all gray and was easy to apply (I used bowl and brush instead of squeeze bottle). However, it came out as a copper color highlighting my hair, not simple ash brown. I like the color, though! But it’s just not what was on the box. The other nice thing about this color compared to colors I’ve had at salons is it didn’t irritate my skin at all. I have very sensitive skin, and this didn’t sting or burn, like I’ve had from salons. Also a plus is the after color conditioner. It leaves your hair SOO soft and smooth. Trying to find the right shade of a lighter blonde when your hair is naturally a honey and slightly brassy blonde can be challenge. My experience with attempting to actually find a good shade over the past few years to lighten and cover roots has admittedly been a case of trial and error with some of the L’Oréal Preference range lighter shades. Nevertheless, the Ultra Light Venice Blonde was a surprising gem for coverage. It is admittedly a little too light to wear during the winter months but it’s an ideal find for the summer . ( I made a first-time mistake of using the dye during the winter with an obvious appearance of being overly lightened for the time of year. However, it has also been one of the few shades that I’ve used where friends and family alike have noted and commended the tone on my hair as having a professional-finish and being quite glossy.) The appearance is one of the range’s lighter shades verging upon a very light to slight pearly blonde tone (dependent on previous shade) and so it is really ideal if you’re looking for something to help lighten brassy blonde hair or darkish roots. I'm a loyal fan of Preference. Leaves a great colour and condition. I wanted to even up my colour between golden a mid section to ends and mainly white/grey 3cm roots, to an all over Ashy Blonde. I read the detailed instructions and outcome on the Superdrug website and chose 10.1 Very Very Light Ash Blonde for click & collect. It says online 100% grey coverage – hold that thought!! Admittedly I should have read the back of the packaging when I received it but having already read it on the website I did think to do it again But I followed the application info & timings. However my hair did not turn out anywhere near the colours on the box, but mainly bright white/grey with some odd gold strands. I then discovered that the product advertised online must have been changed to a new formula. The actual packaging is a completely different design to that pictured online – Beware. And the new packaging says NOT suitable if you have a lot of GREY hair! I'll need to use a Toner to correct it (which I will probably buy elsewhere) having felt a little let down. Lesson is – check packaging before you use. But Superdrug please ensure your product information and illustrations are up to date – it really helps customers when buying online. I recommend the brand but don't trust online descriptions. Take the time to go in to store to do your research if at all possible. So I dyed my dark blonde/light brown hair using this dye (Preference Platinum Extreme Platinum Blonde Permanent Hair Dye) and was left with yellow roots. I did a lot of research on the reviews section to see what would fix this and people said use Jerome Russel silver toner and not the white toner as the silver would sort out the yellow roots. So I put this on my roots and a little bit transferred to some of my already white hair. The result was the most minimal of change on my roots and I was left with some purple hair on the original white hair. So I was basically left with a combination of yellow hair, then purple hair, then white hair. I then tried my (salon bought) revlon ice white leave in conditioner and thankfully the purple hair went silver. I was informed to try wash any possible trace of bleach out of my hair as apparently toners won't work in the hair very well because of it. So 2 days later I tried this toner on my yellow roots (bleach London white toner) and unfortunately again minimal change and my scalp has scabbed over. I recommend if you have yellow roots in your hair, don't use a toner, wait another 2 weeks and bleach your roots again and that will do the job. Toners are too harsh on the head and unfortunately unless you have naturally light hair to begin with, they don't work work sufficientlySheep25

On a mission to go more green, I wanted to switch out my hair dye. I found this dye in the grocery store and crossed my fingers that the jump in price was worth it. The first thing I noticed was there is almost no smell. I got some on my nose trying to detect an oder! The process was the same as any box dye. While my hair was wet, it didn't look like the dye stuck so I was worried that it didn't work right. It was also really hard for me to get a brush through my hair. Once it dried, all worry was gone. I have the most shiny amazing hair with no funky smell. It even has more volume and feels lighter. Definitely my new go to when avoiding going to the salon. Depending on your stage of gray hair, it lasts about 4-8 weeks. My hair is less than 10% gray and sits right above my shoulders. I've been coloring my hair since I started going grey at 21 and and now in my mid 40's. I've been using this brand for a few years and have always had good results. Have been dying my grey roots every 3-4 weeks for about 10 years now and nice n easy in 6N (half a box) had been my drug of choice up to now. Few formula changes later and am ready to try something different. I like that I can easily measure out what I need to use as both are liquid and mixed in a 1:1 ratio. I love that there is no overpowering odour striking as soon as mixing happens although slightly unnerving that this mixes into a plastic-like gel with no other odour?(Not sure how natural it is?) It is odd but you do get used to it, just don’t get lulled into a false sense of security and make sure you take usual precautions to clean up any spillages etc as it does stain quickly as with any other dyes. Colour-wise is about equivalent to nice n easy one and covers grey well but does seem to fade quite quickly so have just started adding a couple of capfuls of 5N to half bottle 6N when applying to roots then rest of 6N for last 5 mins on rest of hair. Bought few boxes in a recent deal so got really good price – making it more on par with other hair dyes.DancingDonnaDee
This is a lovely hair colouring product: easy to use and great colour results. The smell is, not unpleasant, just different. My only criticism would be that using it on my level 7/8 hair, I used 8A, there isnt enough ash in it to counteract the orange undertone that kicks up when you lighten in that mid blonde range, so it looks a bit warmer than I would have liked. Toning shampoo (blue) helps. It will probably get cooler on my second use when I retouch my roots. It looked lovely on the lighter parts of my hair though so my advice would be to use it if your hair is lighter than a level 8, but be prepared for your colour to be warmer than ash if its darker. The hair mask thats included has a, again not unpleasant, smell to it thats different, but gives lovely, shiny results. I will be using this colour product again and would recommend it.aunty_deedee
This hair colour does a great job of covering my VERY stubborn greys. And keeping them covered for a good 6 weeks. I tried a couple of others during the pandemic and once I tried this, I never went back. When salons opened, the stylist was actually pretty impressed by how healthy my hair and how “soft” the colour looked. Definitely use the quinoa mask that comes with it. Absolutely horrible. I usually use raspberry jam color but went with this and it TURNED MY HAIR RED!! NOT PURPLE OR “VIOLET” RED!!! BRIGHT RED ROOTS AND RED THROUGH OUT. When I mixed the color in the bottle, it turned up pastel orange. I shook it like mad and it was still orange. My hair was bleached light blonde and although I wasn’t aware it wasn’t the best choice for me, it turned out fine. When I applied it, it remained pastel orange but after smothering my hair with a plastic cap, I managed to get a pretty light burgundy. I was hoping for something more subtle but who am I kidding? I’d stand out regardless. Oh, and at night, wrap that hair or your pillow will look like a toddlers finger painting. good luck girls !
My daughter and I both have brown hair- 2 different shades. She wanted some blue chunks in her hair and I tried to do an area too and it did not work for either one of us. We weren’t doing our whole head, so had lots of product and made sure it was on super thick. We definitely needed to bleach our hair before using this. Very disappointing to be mislead by the packaging showing what it will look like on dark hair and also stating it will work on different shades of brown hair. I have been using Herbatint for about 10 years, did try different colors combinations: red, brown, blond.—never disappointed with the condition of my hair after coloring. Then i decided to try the Naturigin brand. First i google it—brand from Denmark. I sought why not. Color—light Ash blond is as pictured—true Light Ash blond, but my hair felt so dry—like a hay. I tried differend moisturizer, but damage has been done. I have fine hair and i believe whatever was in this color was too strong for my hair type—it burned and got a lot of breakage. it’s never happened to me after using the Herbatint. First off, I didn’t buy a multipack, it’s just one stick. And honestly, thank goodness for that. This product may be “natural” and “sustainably produced” but it just isn’t as effective. Secondly, i’ll be honest… I didn’t purchase this item for use under my arms. I’m a big girl and big girls thighs gotta glide on hot days… lol. And much to my disappointment it wasn’t effective for that purpose either. Let me explain. 1) The formula is NOT long lasting. It evaporates rather quickly and requires constant reapplication. 2) Although it’s easy to apply, the formula is just super sticky… and if it makes my legs sticky I could only imagine what it’d be like under my arms. 3) the scent is deceiving. While a hint of apricot is faintly noticeable upon application, the stronger scent seems to be that of the tree from which the apricot came from. Heavy on the ode of greenery and not so much on the fruit. Another tally for the bummer list. Have not used professional colour at home before but did a little research and went for Inoa 6.1 for a dark Ash Blonde mixed with Inoa activator. Was very happy with the results Colour is beautiful and dense, makes my hair appear thicker and leaves a lovely shine. Is pretty dark but thats the look I was going for. Mixed with Inoa 20 activator made it lovely as thick to apply. Cant recommend enough.Anonymous
My hairdresser uses this, but I am not sure the exact shade my hair is tinted dark brown, but I recall him asking the assistant to mix more than one Inoa colour so I bought this 3 and the shade 2, plus the peroxide developer massive 1L bottle back in May, but I was reluctant to use it in case I didnt get it right it didnt cover my white roots properly. Important to know that unlike the usual brands of hair colour you can buy from a chemist or supermarket this is just a tube of colour. You need to buy the Inoa developer peroxide separately and it needs to be the strength required for your colour i.e. for dark hair It is 20. After waiting for a long time my roots were c. 3 long and pearly, blinding white I finally decided to colour my own hair today, as I couldnt look in the mirror anymore, but I am still not confident enough going out Postlockdown and coming in close contact with people in a salon. Messy and time consuming as per brilliant advice from a fellow Perfumes of London shopper, best use a kitchen scales to weigh 60g of developer peroxide once you have squeezed the 60g tube of colour or half of each tube, as I did into a bowl the result was salonlike and my hair is back to normal It has freed me from having to wear a wide Lycra band to cover my badgerlike roots during video calls or going for walks. My husband keeps saying that I look 10 years younger bless…. I should have done it a long time ago prepandemic, I had my roots done every three weeks, but I hadnt been to a hairdresser since 12 March until doing the colour myself today. I have now ordered a couple more tubes, for when those pesky roots start showing up again and I dont feel like having to wear a mask to have my hair done. The advice from fellow Perfumes of London shoppers on what strength peroxide developer to buy and the weighing of the colour developer right proportions was brilliant and invaluable.Anonymous

Coverage did not do as well as expected, my dye job didn't last as long using this product as the prep either. Lesson learned. I had purchased it thinking that it was going to take my hair color down to white (and believed it to be able to be used as a product that wouldn't harm my scalp as I have extremely short buzzed hair). It did not affect my scalp in any way but the color treatment that was put on after using this to take my mousey brown down to white, did not take as well and started to fade and wash out within 3 weeks. Granted my hair seemed to grown faster during the beginning of the warmer days but the color should have remained longer.

I had dark violet hair for about a year and it has proven difficult to remove the leftover red color from my hair. All I wanted was to get close to my natural light brown hair color. I went to a high end salon and paid $140 for her to butcher my color. She dyed it a brown color and added some balayage highlights. I had high hopes for the end result and was sadly disappointed. There was just as much red as before. but she also somehow made my roots several different colors, one being very orange and brassy. It was very unflattering. So, I decided to get some color oops, a deep conditioning treatment and this Wella Color Charm in medium ash brown. I used the Color Charm 20 volume developer. After all was said and done, my hair has zero red tones and it is very close to my natural dirty brown color. I was presently surprised that my roots are not all kinds of different shades because the color oops still left them funky. All in all, I would definitely recommend this if you have a sudden fear of professional stylists.amy.l
Went from a level 7 permanent red to a level 7 blonde with T35. A good round of bleach took off quiet a bit of the red but I still had really dark orange. T35 blended everything so well and made the burnt orange color a nice strawberry blonde and helped out all the other yellow and white I had going on after the bleach to make it all a really nice blonde. I didn’t have any experience with bleach or toner. Or even doing my own hair. I’ve never even been blonde before either so, thank god for strong hair.Samantha Hendricks
I love love love wella color charm! I’ve been using it since I was a kid… well 13 or so haha, I'm 29 now! and I’ve gone and used other brands, Ion (JUST DONT!) and such and I always go back to color charm… it leaves my hair nice and soft and healthy and the color holds well, for a good long time, and it always comes out a beautiful color just like the swatch, it’s never really a surprise what you end up with. Which is refreshing with hair color, you want what you intend. My mom also uses wella and has for decades! Their toners (for like blonde hair) work VERY well too. I was blonde for quite a few years in my mid 20's and after bleaching my hair, I would of course always use a toner, I'm a natural red head -before I started going gray that is, which is why I color now- so not using one isn't an option. I always used wella, except for ONCE cause something else was on sale, and it didn't work nearly as well, I actually went back out that night and bought the wella toner I usually use and the next day re-toned my hair. Worked like a charm (pun INTENDED) and I never tried a different brand again. The only other brand I prefer (and it's only for what some would call "extreme colors") is arctic fox and that's only if I'm gonna do like blue or purple. But the wella for other more "natural spectrum" colors works just as well. I'd say wella and arctic fox are even with each other quality and hair health wise. I will say when using wella color, I prefer to use the "original" liquid color rather than the gel kind, but that's because I have a LOT of hair, and the liquid one seems to go farther, and I still have to use 2 bottles, but I have to use 2 no matter what brand I buy. I also use creme developer however and I know that thickens things up, so..the liquid just does better for me. I have some friends who prefer the gel however. It's all about personal preference. I'd say give them each a try and decide how you like them yourself. They seem to make every color in their catalog in both the gel and the original liquid. (Pardon my odd face in my review photo. I received Schwarzkopf Keratin Color in 8.0 Medium Blonde from Influenster in return for my honest review. I have used boxed colors in the past but for the past 5 years I have been mixing my own hair color using products from Sally's. My hair was in need of color, so this trial came at a good time. I have never used a color that had a pretreatment for your ends. It was easy to use but I didn't see that it made any difference honestly. I liked the texture of the color itself being a cream instead of liquid like some colors. It had an odor but not strong like many blonde colors. It took a bit to wash it out. I found it odd that I had to towel dry my hair and then put on the conditioner, then wait 3 minutes to wash it out. Overall the color came out nicely but still a little brassy despite the brassy correction conditioner. It did leave my hair a little frizzy and the ends aren't as nice as usual. I received a box of Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream for True Blondes and was very pleased with the results! Pre-pandemic I was in the salon for color every two months and never thought I could get good color at home. Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream made getting great color at home easy, virtually mess free, and from start to finish, it took about an hour. The instructions are easy to follow and required just a bit of mixing. My hair is a darker blonde with some of red. I used Dark Ash Blonde color and and the color came out great leaving a nice wash of color with no brassiness. My hair was left really shinny and had great dimension. The conditioner packet in the box was an amazing addition because it left my hair feeling really silky and smelling great. I would have loved a slightly larger tube of conditioner since my hair is very long and I only got one use out of it. I can't wait to see how long the color lasts but I would definitely use this Schwarzkopf Keratin Color Cream again.keely.n
Well I'm not a huge fan of the Schwarzkopf Keratin Color 9.1 Light Ash Blonde .😔 I normally keep my hair platinum blonde sometimes I might add another color just for fun. My hair is dry brittle from all the bleaching throughout the years but I've never had any problems with it falling out or frying until now. 😮 I thought it was interesting this kit contained a hair Serum to apply before coloring but other than that, the process isn't any different from the other coloring kits. I applied the Serum and mixed applied the color. I left it on roughly 35 minutes. After I washed it out, I towel dried and added toner . I left the toner on another 2 min. I noticed my hair was unbelievable dry . I added some Nexus conditioner let it set for a few then rinsed. While blow drying, I realized I was gonna have to cut a couple inches off my ends. So that's what I did. I personally am not a fan of this color because it's too gray for me plus there are some purple spots . I also noticed it didn't have a real bad ammonia smell like other color kits or highlighting kits I've had in the past.amanda.h
