Best Blonde For Skin Tones (2024 Update)

My experience here was a bit different than all other previous reviews, so take it as it is. I have very thin curly brown hair and this gave me a nice dark blonde colour. It looks very beautiful in terms of colour, has good coverage and is easy to mix and apply (although you need your own bowl and mixing tool). My hair is long but one box was enough and unlike all other dyes, it didn't bleed to the towel or pillow at all and didn't stain my skin. Now the cons: it has a VERY strong smell when applying! Not sure how everyone is saying it smells good… the smell goes away the next day, but do not apply in a closed space. Also, and this made me fear for my life: my hair got extremely dry right after washing the dye off… it felt like I was touching hay and not hair. I was shocked!! Even after the conditioner from the box, my own conditioner, it felt like it was ruined… only after a week or so of putting leave in conditioner everyday and not using shampoo it got back to normal, so beware you may need to do some extra conditioner care afterwards (this never happened to me before with any other dye). I don't know if I would buy this brand again due to the dryness shock, but I do love the colour result…iHerb Customer

I buying this for my mom. she has 100 % of grey hair. and previously she tried many brands, and no any of them could stay and last more than a 2 weeks. She tried Herbatint and she got amazed. It covered all 100% of her grey hair and still lasting and it us already 2nd month now. Only the new growing hair is grey, So she just need to color the roots. But the rest hair is remaining the color. This Brand is the best. And absolutely chemical free. Because even it drop on clothes after washing it easily gone. I mixed this color (5D light golden chestnut) with 7D (golden blond). The ratio is one unit of developer to one unit of color. So I used a half unit of each color to equal one color unit and blended that with one unit of the developer. The remaining color that I didn't use from each bottle will be used next time, so I get two uses out of each box. I chose to blend those two colors to try to get close to my natural shade, which is a light brown with some golden strands and some hints of red. I did a bunch of research before I bought these colors. I learned that the same shades act differently on all different people and just accepted that I wouldn't be able to predict the exact outcome. If you want to be more sure of the actual result, you can save your hair from the shower for a week and then use that as a test to see how the color takes to your hair. Who knew there'd be a use for that annoying shower hair! My results were quite dark the day that I dyed it — it was a rich chocolate tone. It lightened up after a few washes. It's now been more than a week since I colored it and it looks great. I have about 20% gray and it covered them well. I like that the formula doesn't have a harsh chemical scent. Please note that the packages don't include a bowl to mix the solution in or an applicator for putting the mixture in your hair' plan accordingly so you have the materials on hand. Well, Excellence does a better job… Preference faded and washed out from my gray roots. I had to do a double take to make sure I used permanent dye. Well it was! I have partial gray areas I use the dye to cover. I don’t recall having this issue w/ Excellence. If you have gray you’re looking to cover, go with Excellence. More user friendly also since it’s cream based not liquid as well.Target Shopper

I was looking to color my hair auburn which is exactly what this product did. I had medium brown virgin hair with a few grey's. I would suggest to apply the product to the middle and ends of your hair for 15 minutes and only apply to roots for maybe seven minutes. I did get some hot roots in a small patch near the front of my hairline. I will be googling and youtubing how to correct that spot. I would definitely not keep it on my roots for the full 10 minutes the box suggests. There is not alot of multidimension color but there is definitely color change from my medium brown. I think that the product doesn't need to be as strong as it is. I don't know a ton about color, but this company should maybe use a less harsh developer? They are trying to appeal to a large audience, but they are just messing up alot of people haircoloring experience. I read alot of the reviews beforehand so I knew that my hair would go auburn. If someone just picks the box and thinks their hair is gonna have Carmel highlights they are in for a unpleasant surprise.Sarah

I thought the product was magnificent. The one application was enough to cover my entire head from root to end and when my hair is wet it lands on my shoulders and I have naturally curly hair. I have tons of white hair or with some would call grey very heavy in the front. I have been ill and having colored my hair in 6 months. My hair is naturally black but at 55 I want it to go lighter without anything pulling red. The results are absolutely stunning. Again more than enough color cover all my hair from root to end professional disposable gloves that are easy to take on and off, and a great tube of conditioner that can last me for about three applications. Easy to use. Very very natural color. I have to use an old towel for a few days due to color coming out, but that's not unusual. I have been using Herbatint for about 10 years, did try different colors combinations: red, brown, blond.—never disappointed with the condition of my hair after coloring. Then i decided to try the Naturigin brand. First i google it—brand from Denmark. I sought why not. Color—light Ash blond is as pictured—true Light Ash blond, but my hair felt so dry—like a hay. I tried differend moisturizer, but damage has been done. I have fine hair and i believe whatever was in this color was too strong for my hair type—it burned and got a lot of breakage. it’s never happened to me after using the Herbatint. I had my hair bleached at a salon, after few months the contrast of the natural dark brown roots and the blond hair looked unpleasant to me. I made a very bad decision to color everything medium brown, and I thought how hard it could be. I don’t need to go to the salon. I got this box, and applied it according to the instruction, oh the smell of chemicals!!! I left it on the toots for 20min and on the blond hair for 5 minutes, guess what? My hair, dark brown root and the remaining blond part turned completely black, like really REALLY black. What is this garbage?Peggy

My natural hair is dark brown to black (1b-ish) (pictured) and I used the Auburn R6. I wanted a noticeable but not too dramatic red and got the perfect ginger. Some parts of my hair towards the end are darker but honestly I like the depth it gives. On sunnier days my hair looks more firey and changes to even a warm auburn/brown in lower lighting. I really like the color and think it compliments my skin tone. Instead of 25 mins I kept it for 45 just to make sure it took color 🙂 Definitely keeping this as my everyday shade for a long time, also I dyed it Feb 7th (the photos are from March 3rd 5th) and haven’t retouched yet if that info helps !TARAHMISU

I received this product and was eager to trial it. There’s nothing quite like a colour touch up to make you feel a little more refreshed and energised! The product was super easy to use and everything needed was contained in one compact box. I followed the directions with ease and all progressed to plan. The end result was reasonably true to the desired colour although my hair did end up more orange than I had anticipated. I accept this can happen with hair colours because there are so many factors that contribute to the end result. The hair colour did address my primary concern – covering the dreaded greys! The smell was not offensive as can happen with some brands and I liked the fuss free application process. A major benefit is the convenience of doing this at home at a time that suits me and a cost that is budget friendly! I have had my colour now for a week and the colour at this stage is still looking fresh with great coverage. I would suggest that anyone with thick hair or very long hair should invest in two packets and not chance a dye disaster!! I have long hair but it is very thin so one packet for me was sufficient. I received this hair dye to trial as part of the Beauty Review Crew. I have used this brand of hair dye a few times over the past couple years. In particular, I have used the shade 'Darkest brown' which is the same shade I'm trialing today. The shade has always been is a lovely vibrant colour and the colour result is similar to my natural hair colour. The dye promises to 100% grey hair coverage and it lives up to its promise. Preparing the dye for application is nice and easy. After applying the gloves that are included in the packaging, you pour the colour formula into the bottle of developer before placing the lid back on and shaking the bottle until completely mixed. It's that easy! Then starting at the roots, you evenly apply the dye. The dye goes on smoothly and, surprisingly, the dye scent isn't as strong as other brands. Other brands tend to have a strong chemical smell which makes my eyes water and nose tingle when breathing it in. Clairol have done a great job at producing a hair product with a low scent. One of the best things about Clairol's nice n' easy hair dyes is the short processing times. Unlike other brands that have a processing time of upwards to an hour to reach your desired shade, these dye have an average processing time of just 25 minutes. The short processing time means you can dye your hair during your lunch break, before a night out, or before a date, without it taking up too much of your time. The rinsing process is also quite a smooth and easy process. After applying some warm water, give your hear/head a little massage and then rinse until the water runs clear from all the dye. It normally takes around two minutes for the water to run clear. Then using the conditioning Clairol conditioning treatment that comes with the hair dye, you apply from roots to tips and leave for a couple minutes before rinsing. The conditioning treatment has a lovely scent and is nice and thick. It's almost like applying a luxurious hair mask. It glides onto the hair smoothly and evenly. After rinsing the conditioning treatment you can instantly feel how hydrated you hair feels. Dying your hair often dehydrates it and your hair can feel a little worse for wear. Clairol's hair dyes are gentle on your hair and the conditioning treatment prevents damage and keeps your hair hydrated and feeling lovely. After towel-drying my hair, I blow-dried my hair until was dry. Looking in the mirror you could instantly see how vibrant and lovely the hair colour result was, and it looked and felt really healthy. I am always so very impressed with the results every time and I often get compliments from friends and family members. As my hair grows fairly quickly, I use this product every 2-3 months to help cover grey hairs. Despite dying my hair so regularly, my hair has remained healthy and manageable, and hasn't compromised my hair in any way. The only downside I can mention is that the dye stains your skin. Normally hair spray or acetone on a cotton ball or cotton pad helps remove hair dyes from skin but I found this dye to be lot stronger and barely budged from the skin. I also tried scrubbing with soap and dishwashing detergent but the dye only faded slightly. It took a few days of scubbing before the dye faded completely. Staff Review by BC's Tamara I'm not going to lie – I have greys. Lots of them. But the Clairol Nice'n Easy Permanent Hair Dye did a mighty fine job of making them disappear! I have actually used this dye in the past, and can't recommend it enough. The range of colours on offer is wonderful as there is something there for everyone. I have dull brown hair, so usually opt for a warm shade to brighten my colour – I used the Medium Chestnut Brown 5RB. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and after spending 10 mins applying the product as thoroughly as I could, it took a simple 25 minutes to penetrate before washing it out and conditioning. The colour completely covered my greys (which was my main objective), but overall my hair looks so much healthier as it is shiny and the colour has more life to it. My favourite thing about this dye is that the colour brings out the natural highlights I have and it looks really natural. On a mission to go more green, I wanted to switch out my hair dye. I found this dye in the grocery store and crossed my fingers that the jump in price was worth it. The first thing I noticed was there is almost no smell. I got some on my nose trying to detect an oder! The process was the same as any box dye. While my hair was wet, it didn't look like the dye stuck so I was worried that it didn't work right. It was also really hard for me to get a brush through my hair. Once it dried, all worry was gone. I have the most shiny amazing hair with no funky smell. It even has more volume and feels lighter. Definitely my new go to when avoiding going to the salon. Depending on your stage of gray hair, it lasts about 4-8 weeks. My hair is less than 10% gray and sits right above my shoulders. I've been coloring my hair since I started going grey at 21 and and now in my mid 40's. I've been using this brand for a few years and have always had good results. I use Naturtint for many years and I am very satisfied with the results. This brand has organic ingredients without harsh chemicals. The hair dye to easy to apply on the scalp and does not have bad smell. As a result my hair is healthy and feels very soft & shiny. It is really important for me that Naturtint cover my gray hair. My hair was a highly dull off-black with an auburn brown tint from sun exposure. The ends (about 3inches) of my hair was a dark blond from permanent hair dye about 2yrs ago that was still growing out. My hair length is a few inches past my collar bone so I suppose it's medium length. I have high density hair (lots of hair strands) and my hair strands are thick. I would always have to buy 2 boxes of hair dye for my hair because it is so dense. However, I only needed one box of this hair dye and I even had about 1/4 of it left over. The box contains a set of instructions (which are very clear by the way), a sample of their shampoo and conditioner, gloves (which didn't break or tear), hair dye, developer, and an applicator bottle. I personally prefer using a mixing bowl and applicator brush. Next time, I will use those items instead. I parted my hair into six sections and worked one section at a time and started on the roots first throughout my head, then proceeded to the length of my hair. It states to let the dye sit for 20min but considering that my hair is a bit color resistant, I let it sit for about 40 instead. Normally, I wouldn't extend it for this amount of time, but considering this product was natural, I took a chance. I wouldn't recommend you do this but use your personal experience and judgement. The instructions strongly recommend that you do an allergy test (place the hair dye on inner elbow) and watch it over the next 48hrs to see if you will have an allergic reaction before using the hair dye. However, I did not do this. I do have sensitive skin but never had an allergic reaction to any hair dye so I based my decision partly off that. I didn't like the shampoo nor the conditioner that came with it. The shampoo made my hair tangle and it felt like it was stripping my hair. The conditioner wasn't effective in making my hair feel conditioned. The actual hair dye made my hair feel soft becaused it is packed with oils. I still would use the shampoo and conditioner since they are meant to work together after the hair dye process. The hair dye was a COMPLETE SUCCESS! It completely covered my blond ends and the entirety of my head. My hair is now black. I must state that this Poppyseed color (2N) is a NATURAL black so it is NOT jet black. I actually wanted jet black hair but the Vitamin Shoppe that I shopped at didn't have it so I got this instead. Next time, I will definitely be getting the jet black which is called Licorice (1N) which is the darkest shade. I can't wait to do it again!LovelyBreeze

I've been dying my hair for about 33 years…. other brands always left my hair brittle, dried out and stripped… the color didn't make much sense either, no matter how "natural" I tried to look. I was convinced the only thing to do was stop dying my hair and go "naturally gray". Well after 9 months of not dying my hair… there wasn't a whole lot of "gray" to get excited about…it just looked mousy and non descript…and worst of all..juat made me look older. Have been dying my grey roots every 3-4 weeks for about 10 years now and nice n easy in 6N (half a box) had been my drug of choice up to now. Few formula changes later and am ready to try something different. I like that I can easily measure out what I need to use as both are liquid and mixed in a 1:1 ratio. I love that there is no overpowering odour striking as soon as mixing happens although slightly unnerving that this mixes into a plastic-like gel with no other odour?(Not sure how natural it is?) It is odd but you do get used to it, just don’t get lulled into a false sense of security and make sure you take usual precautions to clean up any spillages etc as it does stain quickly as with any other dyes. Colour-wise is about equivalent to nice n easy one and covers grey well but does seem to fade quite quickly so have just started adding a couple of capfuls of 5N to half bottle 6N when applying to roots then rest of 6N for last 5 mins on rest of hair. Bought few boxes in a recent deal so got really good price – making it more on par with other hair dyes.DancingDonnaDee

This is a lovely hair colouring product: easy to use and great colour results. The smell is, not unpleasant, just different. My only criticism would be that using it on my level 7/8 hair, I used 8A, there isnt enough ash in it to counteract the orange undertone that kicks up when you lighten in that mid blonde range, so it looks a bit warmer than I would have liked. Toning shampoo (blue) helps. It will probably get cooler on my second use when I retouch my roots. It looked lovely on the lighter parts of my hair though so my advice would be to use it if your hair is lighter than a level 8, but be prepared for your colour to be warmer than ash if its darker. The hair mask thats included has a, again not unpleasant, smell to it thats different, but gives lovely, shiny results. I will be using this colour product again and would recommend it.aunty_deedee

This hair colour does a great job of covering my VERY stubborn greys. And keeping them covered for a good 6 weeks. I tried a couple of others during the pandemic and once I tried this, I never went back. When salons opened, the stylist was actually pretty impressed by how healthy my hair and how “soft” the colour looked. Definitely use the quinoa mask that comes with it. I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. I don't know if I got a defective kit, but this product did pretty much nothing on my hair. I got it with the understanding that the result would be slightly redder than the swatches, as I was using this to reduce a brassy faded red color that did not take and lighten my light brown hair to a strawberry blonde. My original shade does, in fact match the light brown swatch on the product. However, after application, there was very little difference in the result and certainly nowhere near the lighter blonde swatch that was shown on the package. The product did not thicken very quickly when mixed (which is unusual for hair color but not unexpected as some color mixes will thicken a lot whereas some will thicken very little) and turned to a gel-like consistency after approximately 10 minutes. The product shows a 1-3 level lift on light brown to blonde hair. This product did not provide even a 1 level lift on my hair, which has always been very easy to color, even with this product line in other shades. Honestly, I could have gotten a better result with a product like 'Sun-in'. So I was very disappointed in this product and would not recommend 8.5A Champagne Blonde to anyone needing a light brown/dark blonde to a lighter blonde result. I've been using Clariol T & T in lightest blonde for the past 25yrs. I absolutely love this color. Over time the scent of the conditioner changed. Original scent smelled better but it does what it's suppose to. Moisturizes well, hair is soft and manageable. So many peoples ask me how I got me hair the color it is, I tell them time, achieving this color didn't happen over night! Best hair color product for women of color, not harsh on the hair like other products on the market. Prior to going natural (8yrs) I was using kiddie perms (Just For Me) 2 or 3xs a year and continued to dye my hair. This color requires daily maintenance for moisture and keeping ends trimmed. I tried the plaitnum toner from this brand last time and decided I'd add in a little lilac to cool the toner even more. It turned out stunning! IF YOU WANT THE SILVER GRAY, HERE YA GO! I used this stuff and by complete accident (or carelessness) I ended up with with silver hair. I’ve always used wella toner when toning my blonde and decided to switch it up because I’m never satisfied with it, because I always feel like I could be more blonde. So I followed the directions to mix it up, but the timing is shorter than wella. Well, 35 minutes later my hair was gray and trendy 🤷🏼‍♀️😅paige.p

I recieved the shimmer lights an cool beige toner for testing purposes from Influenster. Ive been using at home hair color for 2 years so I decided to test this out. The instructions givin to me in my kit were not the best. So I started with the measurements given to me … it was not enough product to cover all my air. I realized this after covering the front first, my hair quickly turned orange an since the back of my head wasn't covered enough I rinsed it out after being in for 15 mins. Thankfully they did include enough product to re apply, after looking up better instructions I tried again. The color results were much better but faw from perfect. This whole process took hours an lots of showers to complete. The side effects included very dry brittle hair. I used a few repair kits an a hair cut helped. I recommend looking up the directions from the company.krista.s

I received the Shimmer Lights Lightening System from Influenster in exchange for my honest opinion and I am very grateful they sent it to me! I ended up doing a few highlights in my hair with the plex lightener, cream toner, and the plex treatment and am incredibly impressed with the results. The products were all easy to use and the last time I used any bleach my hair was absolutely fried but with this system my hair still feels healthy! I would say the only downside is that the toner I got is very cool toned and I have warm undertones and they only had three color options on Sally Beauty but if they had more shades I would give five stars in a heartbeat! I really liked how this turned out on my hair. My hair is already pretty dark but my roots grow in pretty fast so this was absolutely needed. It does not have a super strong chemical smell, and left my hair feeling soft: I have problems using color that often damages my curl pattern. This did not! This is my hair immediately after wash. For reference my hair is a medium to light brown with an ash undertone and some gray hairs. Midnight blue is really nice with an undertone of a blue tint but no actual blue to your hair. Jet black is very dark, sharp and glossy looking. Natural black still solid coverage but a softer tone to it. Chestnut brown has a golden almost auburn color to it. Red hot rhythms is stunning when first applied but quickly loses color in less than a week making your hair look very much like a box dye job. Golden blond is true golden warm tone but again you need a professional to lighten your hair first in order for the color to take all the way through your hair. I don't know who has their nose broken, but the conditioner smells absolutely fabulous. Reminds of a salon honestly. obviously when you're dying you need to have a fan going but even that's not a bad smell. Bottom line as with any color going darker than your hair tone is always easy and possible. And going lighter impossible without a bleach or toner to lighten it first before depositing color. I really liked this brand, it was new to me and this is how I feel about it. Now that I’ve went through the process of dying my hair and the color has now been in for a full day. First the packaging was very neat and you knew what you were working with. Once opened everything was in the box with easy to read instructions. I was super excited to see the dye bottle was a twist off top. Usually I have to cut the tip of the dye bottle in the boxes dye that I normally use. The dye mixed after a few hard shakes, but once I poured into my hair I could see that it didn’t mix all the way so had to give a bit more hard shakes to get it to fully mix. The liquid itself was runny, I like my hair dye a bit less runny. The smell of it was not too powering, and once on the head and scalp it did burn a bit while I sat to catch my hair. The washout was nice and not messy. A few rinses and it came out clear. The product came with a very nice sized conditioner, that has left my hair super soft. The conditioner had a very nice smell. It reminded me of tropical fruit. My hair still smells like it, and I work all day. All my hair caught the color and came out great. I would recommend trying this brand if you have it within reach. I like the conditioner it comes with in a tube as a thick cream yet it has changed very much! It is less quality and less odor yet still great for cost! The dye is not thick gel it is medium like conditioner for $9.97 worth the value still as it does cover Grey and not a semi- permanent! This permanent hair dye box comes with traditional one box with color; a set of gloves; tiny shine serum; developer; instructions; and the dye! Love this hair color, definitely not dull. You get so many different highlights yet a solid color. It doesn't damage my hair as others have. I've learned to stick with loreal when it comes to home color. I use a blonde color and I have some red in my hair, this brings it down to almost what the box shows. I bought this a couple weeks ago.. done my hair a couple days ago and my hair is PINK. NOT EVEN A DARK RED OR RED. BRIGHT PINK. when i rinsed it out and looked in the mirror I cried. The roots are alot darker but still a pink. Ive used this brand almost every time Ive dyed my hair. This has NEVER happened. Ever. I received this product for free from Influenster. For the product itself it is pretty good. I followed instructions and the color turned out beautiful if a little darker than the box claimed. My natural hair is a very dark brown and it was virgin at the base. My tips were previously bleached, hence the Platinum tips. Over all I'm quite pleased with the color. I was pleasantly surprised that my curl pattern was not greatly damaged either, as I was afraid would happen upon realizing this was bleach. I am allergic to bleach (which hasn't stopped me before) so I was quite itchy for about two days after application but that is to be expected. The reason I took away a star is the brands claim to retain moisture and protect your hair thoroughly. I found that this was no more gentle than any other box bleach I've used. I wouldn't have been disappointed in this but for their claims. My hair was extremely dry for a day afterwards and I had to use a lot of coconut oil to reinstate it's moisture. That said, any other bleach product will do the same, my issue is just that they claim to prevent that. All in all, the color is great, but it is no safer than any other box dye for your hair. Generally like Schwarzkopf, but not this one. The powder makes this messy, not user friendly. And be prepared for a noticeable colour change. I am naturally quite fair and light ginger. This gave me the colouring of an orange tabby cat that fell into bleach. I’m unevenly yellow.TL

I don't normally leave reviews, but this one deserves one. My hair had a balayage in December that was pink originally. I'm naturally dark brown, so we only needed one round of bleach to get it to the right level for it to be pink. I then decided to let the pink fade out and transition to a corn blonde – quite warm, quite golden. I bought these drops as a way to knock out some of the brassy and orange tones I was seeing between going to the salon. Because this toner is supposed to make your hair white, it has blue and purple in it, which is perfect – better than a blue or purple shampoo. I love that you just mix it with your conditioner. I usually do an Olaplex 3 mask before, then wash it, then condition with the toner every weekend. It takes some trial to get the right intensity. I started with 4 drops, which was a bit more subtle, then went for 6, which left me with a lovely golden blonde – my hair isn't bleached enough for it to go white. There are still some coppery tones, but I suppose that's because different parts of the hair will react to the toner differently. I also don't hate it – it's like having hints of strawberry. Highly recommend for mid-blondes looking for purple or blue shampoo alternatives.Em

I bought this a couple of weeks ago, having read the reviews I was excited. It is extremely easy to use. I applied a week ago, I added 8 drops rather than the recommended 6 as I'd put more conditioner in than was needed. The resulting colour was much darker than expected however still a lilac shade (perhaps more blue tones than pink). It does not take on all of the hair, so mine ended more like highlights (which i was disappointed in as wanted whole hair lilac so knocked a star off), however this also happens when the hairdressers does their lilac toner on my hair. I've washed my hair twice and it has faded quite considerably and the result has made the colour look patchy(so another star knocked off). The good points are it's extremely easy to use, and much less messy than other brands. I think it would also be possible to mix your own colours too, so I will buy one of the pinks next time and add 1 drop to see if it achieves the actual lilac tone I had wanted.Hannah66

I spent ages trying to figure out which toner to get following an over-bleached half head balayage, which had left my hair a combination of yellow and white on the top, and with a huge contrast between my brunette natural colour underneath. Having explicitly asked for a warm dark blonde, I was on the hunt for something which would make my blonde hair a bit darker and also add a nice tone to it. I was drawn in by the other reviews referring to this toner being great on over-bleached hair which was either white or yellow, transforming hair into a honey/caramel-blonde – which is what I had asked the hairdresser for. I was half tempted to go back to another hairdressers and pay for a toner but with the cost of living crisis I thought I'd give this a go. I used 4 drops with my normal conditioner, left it on for 10 minutes and honestly there is already a huge huge difference – the tone is so nice and I'm FINALLY happy with my hair colour. I'll keep using this – and will probably try adding more drops next time to see what happens. I never leave reviews but given how many hours I sunk into trying to figure out what to buy – and nearly spent £30 on something else – I thought I'd leave some details in case it helps shorten the search for someone else in my predicament. I've been using Clariol T & T in lightest blonde for the past 25yrs. I absolutely love this color. Over time the scent of the conditioner changed. Original scent smelled better but it does what it's suppose to. Moisturizes well, hair is soft and manageable. So many peoples ask me how I got me hair the color it is, I tell them time, achieving this color didn't happen over night! Best hair color product for women of color, not harsh on the hair like other products on the market. Prior to going natural (8yrs) I was using kiddie perms (Just For Me) 2 or 3xs a year and continued to dye my hair. This color requires daily maintenance for moisture and keeping ends trimmed. I had dark violet hair for about a year and it has proven difficult to remove the leftover red color from my hair. All I wanted was to get close to my natural light brown hair color. I went to a high end salon and paid $140 for her to butcher my color. She dyed it a brown color and added some balayage highlights. I had high hopes for the end result and was sadly disappointed. There was just as much red as before. but she also somehow made my roots several different colors, one being very orange and brassy. It was very unflattering. So, I decided to get some color oops, a deep conditioning treatment and this Wella Color Charm in medium ash brown. I used the Color Charm 20 volume developer. After all was said and done, my hair has zero red tones and it is very close to my natural dirty brown color. I was presently surprised that my roots are not all kinds of different shades because the color oops still left them funky. All in all, I would definitely recommend this if you have a sudden fear of professional stylists.amy.l

Went from a level 7 permanent red to a level 7 blonde with T35. A good round of bleach took off quiet a bit of the red but I still had really dark orange. T35 blended everything so well and made the burnt orange color a nice strawberry blonde and helped out all the other yellow and white I had going on after the bleach to make it all a really nice blonde. I didn’t have any experience with bleach or toner. Or even doing my own hair. I’ve never even been blonde before either so, thank god for strong hair.Samantha Hendricks

I love love love wella color charm! I’ve been using it since I was a kid… well 13 or so haha, I'm 29 now! and I’ve gone and used other brands, Ion (JUST DONT!) and such and I always go back to color charm… it leaves my hair nice and soft and healthy and the color holds well, for a good long time, and it always comes out a beautiful color just like the swatch, it’s never really a surprise what you end up with. Which is refreshing with hair color, you want what you intend. My mom also uses wella and has for decades! Their toners (for like blonde hair) work VERY well too. I was blonde for quite a few years in my mid 20's and after bleaching my hair, I would of course always use a toner, I'm a natural red head -before I started going gray that is, which is why I color now- so not using one isn't an option. I always used wella, except for ONCE cause something else was on sale, and it didn't work nearly as well, I actually went back out that night and bought the wella toner I usually use and the next day re-toned my hair. Worked like a charm (pun INTENDED) and I never tried a different brand again. The only other brand I prefer (and it's only for what some would call "extreme colors") is arctic fox and that's only if I'm gonna do like blue or purple. But the wella for other more "natural spectrum" colors works just as well. I'd say wella and arctic fox are even with each other quality and hair health wise. I will say when using wella color, I prefer to use the "original" liquid color rather than the gel kind, but that's because I have a LOT of hair, and the liquid one seems to go farther, and I still have to use 2 bottles, but I have to use 2 no matter what brand I buy. I also use creme developer however and I know that thickens things up, so..the liquid just does better for me. I have some friends who prefer the gel however. It's all about personal preference. I'd say give them each a try and decide how you like them yourself. They seem to make every color in their catalog in both the gel and the original liquid. (Pardon my odd face in my review photo.
