Best Bluetooth Headset For Working From Home (2023 Update)

Remote workers depend on our headsets to make a living. It's critical that they work on every call, every time. I had an older Plantronics W740, the battery was dying, and the headset kept wanting to fall off my head if I didn't hold my head perfectly still. I did some research and ended up calling Headset Advisors and spoke to William. He was great, the first thing he did was to list all my requirements and needs. We initially picked another headset with over the ear pads, but I still liked the headset lifter for my VOIP line and eventually went back to the Plantronics. This is a GREAT headset, it works perfectly with MS Teams and Zoom, as well as pairs with my cellphone and even works on the VOIP line. One headset to rule them all, LOL. This headset is beefier than the W740 I had before, has a longer battery life and feels better on my head. If you're looking for a headset that meets all these requirements, you can't go wrong with this. The cons, mic performance is so-so, and the strange thing is when I record on Voice memo connected via bluetooth on my mobile I sound extremely soft in the playback, this also happens when I had voice chat on Line app, people complaint I'm almost inaudible. However all works fine during webex meeting when connected via BT600 on laptop. While the voice is crisp clear there is noticeable reverb as if the air knocks off the mic. Overall the voice just don't feel as stable solid compares to wired headset. The earmuff is slightly bigger compares to other on-ear headsets so they're supposed to seal your ears to block out some noise. The cushion is also very soft. It's very comfortable ONLY if you sit in an aircond room or use it on colder days! Please consider changing the centre part to fabric as the full leather piece would heat up ears so quickly. It's really hard to ignore the heat no matter how comfortable it is! Overall I find myself not using this headset as much because of the noticeable reverb effect and earmuffs heating up too quickly. The Voyager Focus 2 headset is a light-weight, comfortable, on-ear headset that provides fantastic sound quality and comfort for long wearing sessions. It is also incredibly easy to setup and simply entails plugging the Bluetooth dongle into your computer. Additionally, the battery is long-lasting which means less time tied down at your desk. The microphone provides great output audio quality and integrates easily with audio/video collaboration platforms. It also allows for easing muting either by pushing a physical button on the headset or by simply flipping the microphone to a vertical position. This makes it extremely easy to mute your audio when needed. I was additionally able to maintain a Bluetooth connection throughout my entire apartment. As someone who paces when they talk, this allowed me to walk laps around my home while taking calls. I was also able to multitask around the house during audio calls, without any indication that I wasn't sitting at a desk. I typically prefer over-ear headsets, but the weight and comfortably of the Voyager Focus 2 make up for the slightly naked ear. I was able to wear this headset for 6+ hours without feeling uncomfortable in the slightest. During my research for a wireless/Bluetooth style headset for on the go travel, this unit kept popping up on the radar. My initial thought was skepticism because of its small size and in single ear setup. To my surprise, this device has lived up to its grand reviews. FIT: There a different sized earbuds to fit 90% of ears out there. You can setup the device to fit right or left ear. Being super light, I barely notice it after having it on for hours at a time. BATTERY: Spectacular! Lasts 6+ hours of talk time. I have had it on and powered for many of my road travels (6+ hours) including using it for calls and meetings throughout the entire day (10+ hours). I do connect it to the charger in the car or at my computer when I’m not in need to be talking. Typically that is only for 20-30 minutes during those instances. But, it charges the device enough that I have never been concerned about running out of power. NOISE CANCELLATION: Super good! Driving in my pickup truck, with a loud exhaust, my callers ask if I’m at the office. I’ve tested it walking outside in downtown with city sounds all around, everyone could still hear me clearly with very little, if any noise from the city. OVERALL: I use this device with two phones (iPhone 13 and XS) along with my work laptop (Lenovo laptop). I did purchase a Bluetooth usb (ASUS BT400) for my laptop rather than using the crappy built in Bluetooth connection. It is a night/day difference and I highly suggest buying one if you plan to pair this with a laptop. Lastly, make sure you update the firmware. I'm extremely happy with my Focus 2. As someone with a history of multiple concussions, the headband style makes this an ideal fit to a sensitive head. The weight and pressure are mild and it does not cause headaches for me like most headsets I've had to wear. I can wear this for hours working from home without any pain, and that is an incredible relief. The sound is fantastic, I'm able to hear every voice clearly on conference calls as well as music and video with the kind of sound you'd expect at this price. This isn't an audiophile's dream by any means, but that isn't what it is built to be. As a wireless communication focused headset, it exceeds my expectations on sound. But I may have buried the lead here. The mic is incredible. I have a very noisy home office with a heavy handed clicky keyboard partner. You can't hear them type when I'm on a call. I don't know what else to say. I've had mic after mic after mic that promised to remove sounds like a keyboard and none of them have even muted the pounding clicks at all, even from across the room. The Focus 2 on Teams and Zoom eliminates the sound entirely. My keyboard isn't exactly quiet either, and you can't hear it either. Also two puppies who can get really loud really quickly can't be heard either. Oh and people can hear me crystal clear. The overall mic experience is without peer. The included USB dongle allows me to go through my entire house, even taking the puppies out to the back porch (our office is in the front of the house). It allows for tremendous freedom. Overall, this is by far the best headset I've ever used in an office environment. I bought this for zoom calls that will be recorded and we need to sound semi okay on the recording. It seems to work okay for that (we are not talking audiophile recordings here.) I'd purchased a cheaper headset and it was SO uncomfortable, I stepped it up and got this one. It's an improvement, but I still wish it was cushier on my ears. It was worth it to download Jabra Direct to control some of the features. Like the annoying busy lights. I work at home and so I don't have any coworkers to disturb me on calls and the red busylights look like alien eyes on the side of my head. So I was glad to turn it off. I like how the headset mutes when I flip the boom mic up.Shanna

I purchased this item in the hopes it would cure some problems I have using my existing audio devices, which are the AirPods Pro and Microsoft LX-3000. Pros: – With the mic off, music playback is good, comparable to the AirPods – Fit is reasonably comfortable – Side tone is pretty cool. I had never used a pro caliber headset with this feature before, it is handy to hear how you sound clearly instead of muffled through the earcups. Cons: – When the mic is activated, music volume goes way up and quality decreases. This also happens on the AirPods because of Bluetooth limitations, but there is no excuse with this cabled headset. – Mic is not adjustable and sits very close to my mouth. Depending on just how the headset is placed on my head, it can actually make contact. – The mute button does not work. Raising the mic does mute as expected, but the mute indicator light on the cable fails to activate (tested on Mac and Windows) The bottom line is that I would not choose to use this headset over the $40 LX-3000. I can accept a few gremlins in budget products but for the price this needs to perform better and I have now returned.Adam

Works great with MS Teams. Comfortable on ear even on long meetings, and good sound quality! Best headset I've used so far. The only slight negative is the chord is a bit stiff and gets in the way whilst typing. Other brands I've used in the past have softer chords which loose their pre-packaged kinks after a short while of use, but this is still kinked in the same way after a month of use despite trying to unkink it regularly. I guess its more down to using better quality cable than my previous headsets, and will thus last longer than previous ones as a result. Its a shame the wireless version is so much more expensive than the chorded version, otherwise I'd swap as the headset is great otherwise.dabski

I purchased these as I was tired of all of the office background noise coming through during web meetings. This pair of headphones stops the background noise for both myself, but more importantly for my clients on the other end. During my testing there was a LOT of background noise and none of it came through. The overall build quality and comfort are excellent. I would easily recommend these. I will add that I am a glasses wearer and after 3 or 4 hours on the phone they do start to give my ears some fatigue where it presses against my glasses. Not sure if the over ear 85 would be better at eliminating this pain but after 20 years of remote working I've yet to find a headset that does a good job at this. This is probably a defective unit but Headset Advisor Support was amazing. I am glad I bought it here at HeadsetAdvisor. Second good thing is the quality is sound is amazing and ANC for speakers is also good. Now the cons: (1) The main reason I bought this Headset was for the Mic's noise cancellation. I don't want my work colleagues to put up with all the noises at end/home like Baby screams, TV in the living room, Street Cars, Wife's phone calls, even my key board or washroom faucets etc but it failed miserably. They can hear everything from my side and even worse is my voice was so bad that they can't understand at all. Updated firmware and restarted and reseted everything multiple times and made at least 50 calls from every App on my phone for over a period of week and all were bad. I really hope it's faulty unit and Headset Advisor is planning to replace it. (2) When placed on the neck the headset ear cushions are pointed outwards, What a weird design. Come-on Jabra, no one pointed this out when you were designing this? (3) Headset is not stable on my head. It can easily fall when your head is not straight. I believe this is the issue with all on-ear headset as compared to over the ear ones. Anyway, this is really bad experience but my cheap TechNet Headset which was reviewed by Drew is working like a charm.Ryan

Bought this as an upgrade from the Evolve 65 (not 2) and unfortunately its overall a downgrade, despite being constructed very nicely with premium feeling materials and a great build quality – I wanted to love it! There are 2 x major issues: Firstly, the mic is right side only, whereas the previous model could swing both ways (I prefer on the left side). Maybe not a deal breaker for some, but I just found it constantly annoying. Secondly, the previous model has a hard headband which gradually built up pressure on the top of my head and become uncomfortable after a few hours. This model has attempted to fix that with a nice soft silicon pad, however the overall more solid build (and thus weight) and stronger materials mean that between the clamping force and extra weight it's mde it worse! I struggled to wear this headset for more than 30 mins at a time. Big sad. I also have an Engage 75 which is almost perfect, but it is tied to the dock for Bluetooth and PC connectivity, so you can't really use it for travelling. Still chasing the holy grail of headsets… Looking at the Evolve 75 it looks like it might suffer the same issues as the Evolve2 65.Julian C

I have purchased numerous earbuds and headphones over the years in my search for headphones that have the features I want. Let me highlight what I feel are the top features I look for in headphones. First, I actively use Teams in my workplace, both on my laptop, iPad and iPhone. Secondly, I also actively take calls on both the laptop and iPhone during the workday and it is critical to seamless switch from one device to the other. Let's start with the Cons 1. These are not a device which are good for noisy environments because they just do not clearly allow what you are trying to hear to come through when in a crowded room for example. 2. Just a personal wish I guess…I would love the back of this device to fit a bit snugger to the back of the head. There is just too much play. Not a deal breaker. I find that because they are not snugger, the back drops a bit during wear and the clarity of sound shifts do the band shifting and pulling downward. Upon adjusting and lifting it higher in the back, I find that the position near the ears improves sound clarity and volume (even though I'm not adjusting the volume). I have to do this a few times throughout the day. 3. Wearing them all day over the ears does make your ears a bit uncomfortable and fatigued. This is why I take them off during my lunch hour and toss them on the charger. It lets the device charge and gives my ears a break for a little bit. Again, not a deal breaker. 4. USB dongle is disappointing only because the reality of today's new laptops do not even have a USB-A port any longer. Most new machines provide USB-C ports, so the dongle is useless. I have to fully rely on the Bluetooth connection to connect to my laptop and in turn connect to Teams. While I've not experienced any issues with this connection method, I have had some devices lose functionality if the dongle was not the primary connection method. 5. Color….add some color options for this device. Not sure if this is a cost thing or not, but so many provides offer boring black or grey. Our world needs color these days, so consider adding some color options. The Pros FAR OUTWEIGH the Cons 1. 16 hours of battery life. I've gone at least 3 days before having to fully charge these bad boys. Clearly it will depend on how much you actively use it during the day. If you play podcasts or music in addition to taking calls or being in a longer meeting, then you may need to charge it during the day. Honestly, my habit now is on all morning, then I toss it on the charger while at lunch and have it on all afternoon. It gives my ears a break and the device is always ready to use. 2. This device has multi-point connection. For those unfamiliar with this…it is the ability to simultaneously connect to two devices at once and seamlessly switch between the two. For example, if you are listening to music on your iPhone and a call comes in on Teams/laptop, you can select the incoming call and your music pauses automatically. I have no idea why companies who offer multi-point don't more actively highlight this feature. It is a true game changer for today's work environment. 3. Quick Charge feature. While I have never run this thing to end of the battery charge, I always look for devices that offer the Quick Charge option and the Opencomm comes through on this. 4. Noise cancelling boom is great to have clear calls during a meeting. Being able to move the boom out of the way also is a nice feature. 5. The open ear concept is great for the work environment. I would often have a device and only use one earbud, so I could hear what was going on around me or be aware of someone talking to me. The Opencomm allows me to do just that. I have the convenience of still hearing activity in the office and in my home office and clear conversations when taking a call. Best of both worlds. 6. Bone conduction – this is what the Shokz are all about right? The concept in and of itself is fascinating and just adds to the pros of this device. 7. Let's talk buttons. I've had numerous devices that have single, double, triple taps to answer call, end call, volume up or down and the list goes on. I can't keep it all straight. This is a follow up review on this product from an earlier one I done about 6 months ago. I originally purchased this headset on March 14, 2021. I got the headphones and started using them right away and as I mentioned in my previous review they have been a blessing to me. I wear them all the time almost 24/7, followed all of the manual directions regarding charging (when to charge and don't leave them on charge overnight). Anyway, yesterday Sunday 8/7/2022, after charging from a drained situation, they finally broke. I could not get them to turn on by holding down the volume + button. I cleaned the charging port to ensure that it was not dirty and tried to recharge, got the blue light saying it is done, and still nothing. By this time, I knew that there was a problem. I went online and filled out the warranty claim form (2 year factory warranty replacement) and submitted it. Within 3 hours I received confirmation that I would be getting a new pair in the mail within 4 to 5 days, no questions asked. The process was seamless and deserves noting that the company stands behind their product fully. Note: You will need to keep your receipt if possible, the serial # card that comes with the head set, and know the date of purchase to submit a claim. I also went back online with Verizon and ordered a second pair just to ensure I never have to go without them again. I would strongly recomend buying this product as the quality, customer service (both Verizon and After Shokz), and ease of use regarding the product all have been exceptional. This is a great buy, great price, and comes with exceptional customer service that has far exceeded my expectations. I will never go without a pair of After Shokz Open Comm headsets.Tony

I got the "UC" version of this headset because I do a lot of Zoom / Teams / WebEx meetings from my laptop, which requires the USB dongle to connect, but also have to take a lot of calls on my phone, and this headset is supposed to support the 'multipoint' connections to PC & phone simultaneously. It took a few tries to get the 'multipoint' connection set up, but eventually got it, and – for the most part – it works. And when it does, the sound is good, the other people on the call hear me clearly, the battery lasts all day, and the headset is so comfortable I forget it's there. And I really, REALLY like the bone-conduction feature leaving my ears un-molested an able to hear other things going on around me. BUT… my biggest complaint is the 'multipoint' support is pretty poor. As long as I am only talking on the PC, I have no problem. But, if a call comes in on my phone, I can switch over, and it works fine for a minute or two, and then the connection starts to break up and I have to swap the phone over to speakerphone to continue the call. Super annoying, as that is one of the biggest reasons I selected this headset. There are a few other things I'd prefer were a bit different – pressing the two volume button simultaneously with one hand to put it on Mute is a bit awkward, having to use their proprietary charging cord vs any standard USB-mini or USB-C cable is a bit inconvenient, and the boom mic stands out from the side of your cheek a bit farther than I'd like (far enough I sometimes accidentally catch it on things near my face), but those issues are pretty minor. I've gone at least 3 days before having to fully charge these bad boys. Clearly it will depend on how much you actively use it during the day. If you play podcasts or music in addition to taking calls or being in a longer meeting, then you may need to charge it during the day. Honestly, my habit now is on all morning, then I toss it on the charger while at lunch and have it on all afternoon. It gives my ears a break and the device is always ready to use. 2. This device has multi-point connection. For those unfamiliar with this…it is the ability to simultaneously connect to two devices at once and seamlessly switch between the two. For example, if you are listening to music on your iPhone and a call comes in on Teams/laptop, you can select the incoming call and your music pauses automatically. I have no idea why companies who offer multi-point don't more actively highlight this feature. It is a true game changer for today's work environment. 3. Quick Charge feature. While I have never run this thing to end of the battery charge, I always look for devices that offer the Quick Charge option and the Opencomm comes through on this. 4. Noise cancelling boom is great to have clear calls during a meeting. Being able to move the boom out of the way also is a nice feature. 5. The open ear concept is great for the work environment. I would often have a device and only use one earbud, so I could hear what was going on around me or be aware of someone talking to me. The Opencomm allows me to do just that. I have the convenience of still hearing activity in the office and in my home office and clear conversations when taking a call. Best of both worlds. 6. Bone conduction – this is what the Shokz are all about right? The concept in and of itself is fascinating and just adds to the pros of this device. 7. Let's talk buttons. I've had numerous devices that have single, double, triple taps to answer call, end call, volume up or down and the list goes on. I can't keep it all straight. This is a follow up review on this product from an earlier one I done about 6 months ago. I originally purchased this headset on March 14, 2021. I got the headphones and started using them right away and as I mentioned in my previous review they have been a blessing to me. I wear them all the time almost 24/7, followed all of the manual directions regarding charging (when to charge and don't leave them on charge overnight). Anyway, yesterday Sunday 8/7/2022, after charging from a drained situation, they finally broke. I could not get them to turn on by holding down the volume + button. I cleaned the charging port to ensure that it was not dirty and tried to recharge, got the blue light saying it is done, and still nothing. By this time, I knew that there was a problem. I went online and filled out the warranty claim form (2 year factory warranty replacement) and submitted it. Within 3 hours I received confirmation that I would be getting a new pair in the mail within 4 to 5 days, no questions asked. The process was seamless and deserves noting that the company stands behind their product fully. Note: You will need to keep your receipt if possible, the serial # card that comes with the head set, and know the date of purchase to submit a claim. I also went back online with Verizon and ordered a second pair just to ensure I never have to go without them again. I would strongly recomend buying this product as the quality, customer service (both Verizon and After Shokz), and ease of use regarding the product all have been exceptional. This is a great buy, great price, and comes with exceptional customer service that has far exceeded my expectations. I will never go without a pair of After Shokz Open Comm headsets.Tony

I got the "UC" version of this headset because I do a lot of Zoom / Teams / WebEx meetings from my laptop, which requires the USB dongle to connect, but also have to take a lot of calls on my phone, and this headset is supposed to support the 'multipoint' connections to PC & phone simultaneously. It took a few tries to get the 'multipoint' connection set up, but eventually got it, and – for the most part – it works. And when it does, the sound is good, the other people on the call hear me clearly, the battery lasts all day, and the headset is so comfortable I forget it's there. And I really, REALLY like the bone-conduction feature leaving my ears un-molested an able to hear other things going on around me. BUT… my biggest complaint is the 'multipoint' support is pretty poor. As long as I am only talking on the PC, I have no problem. But, if a call comes in on my phone, I can switch over, and it works fine for a minute or two, and then the connection starts to break up and I have to swap the phone over to speakerphone to continue the call. Super annoying, as that is one of the biggest reasons I selected this headset. There are a few other things I'd prefer were a bit different – pressing the two volume button simultaneously with one hand to put it on Mute is a bit awkward, having to use their proprietary charging cord vs any standard USB-mini or USB-C cable is a bit inconvenient, and the boom mic stands out from the side of your cheek a bit farther than I'd like (far enough I sometimes accidentally catch it on things near my face), but those issues are pretty minor. Overall, it's a good headset, would be just about perfect if you don't need the simultaneous connection to another device.Clint M.

I owned a pair of what I believe were the original Tones — HBS-700. They lasted 9.5 years before one of the earbuds failed! My wife bought me these and I was skeptical of the retractable cord, but it seems to work fine. The sound is good and the buds block out a lot of ambient noise. But the battery is terrible! My old ones seemed to last for days, and when I got a low battery warning I could usually finish out the day before charging them. These were at 100% when I went to bed last night. I think they were powered on overnight, but I haven't made a call or listened to any audio yet this morning. When I connected them to my phone it reported they are at 50%. I notice that the HBS-700s had a 220 mAh battery and these have a 70 mAh battery — 1/3 as big! Very disappointing. They big draw to this style vs. the kind that are just connected by a cord is the larger battery. Definitely returning these.Cool Running

These are not the first wireless headphones I have had. I had 3 different types before and they all have failed miserably at being a great pair of headphones. One thing in particular about them all is that the battery life on all of them died very quickly. These however blew me away these have superior battery life. I can go a full day wearing these before the battery dies and needs to be charge. The clarity of the sound is amazing, they are perfect for when I’m at the gym. Pairing these with my phone was really easy too not confusing by any means. They actually paired to my phone the first time I turn them on, which was nice. For calls sometimes people tell me they can’t hear me clearly because of all the background noise but they are decent for phone conversations. The only other con is that I wish they had better ear tips, something like memory foam but other than that there are superb high quality headphones. I would 100% recommended these.Chrissy93

I have purchased numerous earbuds and headphones over the years in my search for headphones that have the features I want. Let me highlight what I feel are the top features I look for in headphones. First, I actively use Teams in my workplace, both on my laptop, iPad and iPhone. Secondly, I also actively take calls on both the laptop and iPhone during the workday and it is critical to seamless switch from one device to the other. Let's start with the Cons 1. These are not a device which are good for noisy environments because they just do not clearly allow what you are trying to hear to come through when in a crowded room for example. 2. Just a personal wish I guess…I would love the back of this device to fit a bit snugger to the back of the head. There is just too much play. Not a deal breaker. I find that because they are not snugger, the back drops a bit during wear and the clarity of sound shifts do the band shifting and pulling downward. Upon adjusting and lifting it higher in the back, I find that the position near the ears improves sound clarity and volume (even though I'm not adjusting the volume). I have to do this a few times throughout the day. 3. Wearing them all day over the ears does make your ears a bit uncomfortable and fatigued. This is why I take them off during my lunch hour and toss them on the charger. It lets the device charge and gives my ears a break for a little bit. Again, not a deal breaker. 4. USB dongle is disappointing only because the reality of today's new laptops do not even have a USB-A port any longer. Most new machines provide USB-C ports, so the dongle is useless. I have to fully rely on the Bluetooth connection to connect to my laptop and in turn connect to Teams. While I've not experienced any issues with this connection method, I have had some devices lose functionality if the dongle was not the primary connection method. 5. Color….add some color options for this device. Not sure if this is a cost thing or not, but so many provides offer boring black or grey. Our world needs color these days, so consider adding some color options. The Pros FAR OUTWEIGH the Cons 1. 16 hours of battery life.
