It is a bit different from other self cleaning brushes in the way it locks the slicker to brush and when unlocked the entire slicker is out of the way letting all hair to easily fall from brush. With similar brushes there are always a few wires that stick out and hold the hair. The slicker is made of good quality wire and is firm. I use it on my German Shepards and long haired cat. The FURminator is -an excellent tool to use on your dogs to remove excess hair,and keep it off. I generally would brush my dog at least 4 days out the week to ensure the product works and it does a great job to minimize the hair in returning. Our dog was going through anxiety, because, she loss her sister of 14 years old and passed away recently. Her anxiety was high, but using the FURminarator it minimize her anxiety. Plus I decided to take her to a new park where a portion is fenced for dogs and this helped with her recovery, but I am still taking her to the park, so she can continue to recover. Our small dogs or big dogs can’t speak when they are hurting and we need to recognize the signs and help them and one is to use the FURminator and any other options you’ve to help your pets’ minimize their anxiety and be that dog again, happy and playful. has been my lifesaver at home for my fur baby. She's a Golden Retriever with some Labrador mixed in and sheds her undercoat like there's no tomorrow! This has reduced the need to sweep daily at home and also the amount of floatie hairs you get when they shake off. It's easy enough that with 30 minutes of grooming every 1-2 weeks reduces the amount of undercoat insanely, without taking too much of the upper hair layer so she's fresh in the warmer days (in photo 1 you can see her first brush of the year). I frankly can't think of a way to make this product better, she loves how it feels when I use this tool to groom her and it makes it so easy, so I love it too for my #furryfriends needs!denisse.d

My family got this for our two yellow English labs, one is 11 (90lbs) and the other is 8 months (45 lbs). If you don't know labs shed not only constantly but a TON so we had high expectations. After numerous uses, I have to say this thing works!! We have other undercoat rakes and stuff and even after using those this thing still gets even more hair off! It does take some time as it works best with short strokes, so it would probably be quicker / more efficient on a smaller dog. But even with our big boy if you take the time it gets the job done! Note: as I said Labs shed constantly so while this works great and helps get rid of a ton of hair. It will not completely get rid of or stop shedding. It just helps control the situation and gets more hair per brushing better than other brushes I've used.shelby.h

All previous combs hurt my cats. They would run at the sight of anything like a comb or brush. This product is the first comb or brush that they enjoyed. And it removes a lot of loose fluff they would otherwise swallow. Or end up in our home getting everywhere. I barely had to touch them with it to get fluff off them. One cat has medium to short fur and the other 3 layers of long fluff. The more I brushed them, of course, more was removed. And it was a lot, especially and surprisingly from the shorter haired one. The handle does make it easy to grip and use to brush them. Honestly I get why these items are so expensive. They work, hopefully last a lifetime and most importantly do not hurt the ones being combed and brushed. I recommend this product.719alexander
