Best Budget Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair (2023 Update)

Samsung – Jet Bot+ Robot Vacuum with Clean Station – White is one of the best robot vacuum cleaners we've owned. The Jet Bot+ is a large robot and quite powerful both in vacuuming power and in its ability to get around without getting hung up going from hard floor surfaces onto rugs/carpet. It moves quickly on straightaways but slows quickly to navigate corners or objects without all the bumping into things I've noticed with some of the other robot vacuums we've had — some of those reminded me of watching a pinball game. The Jet Bot+ has plenty of sensors so that it moves surely and efficiently easily avoiding objects such as furniture, walls etc. It will adjust power for movement and suction based upon the type of surface it is on and the amount of dust/debris it encounters. Although there is the typical smart app for you phone so you can do all sorts of things remotely, I tend to use the Jet Bot+ without it — that's just me; start it, it maps then it cleans and you don't think about it anymore. The Jet Bot+ does an excellent job of mapping the house so that it will find its clean station easily after being out in several rooms cleaning when it needs to return to empty its dust bin or to recharge. Some robot vacuums "talk" to you to let you know what's going on with it. I would say the Jet Bot+ is quite talkative when needed. At least you aren't left to puzzle out codes for troubleshooting since it will tell you what the problem is. I have to say here that the Jet Bot+ actually cleans better, hard floor or soft, than any robot vacuum we've owned. The way it's designed keeps the brush clean of hair accumulation! That's a very useful feature. The only "negative" I can think of is that the Jet Bot+ isn't a quiet little vacuum you can't hear. It definitely sounds like a vacuum cleaner, but not as noisy as a canister or upright vacuum — manual vacuums are all much louder than the Jet Bot+. However, some robot vacuums are quieter but, frankly, they do not clean as well as the Jet Bot+. I'd rather have a little more sound knowing the machine is doing a first-rate cleaning job. All in all, this one is definitely a keeper. Check it out and you'll find this one is a real vacuum cleaner, but you don't have to do the work!Telstar1948

I received this vacuum cleaner from Samsung for product testing purposes. I've never really considered owning a robotic vacuum before – both because I thought the setup might be an involved process and that I would need another vacuum to do the stairs. Well, having a decent sized home with fairly large rooms, each with either solid wood or hard vinyl installed, the JetBot changed my mind quite quickly! The room scanning with the LiDAR is superb. You can see a plan of your room appear on the Smart things app I'm seconds, and the whole of your house start to take shape before your eyes. Very impressed. I have a black labrador with sheds a good number of hairs around the house and being black against lighter coloured flooring the floor looks clean for about ten minutes after vacuuming usually. With the jet bot you can just select the room to clean from the app and hey presto, your room is clean and hair free with zero effort! You can also drag a square on your phone screen to cover an area of your home to spot clean and the JetBot obliges immediately. There are many options to tailor the cleaning process to your liking, and I especially like the self emptying process when the JetBot returns to its base. You can also control the JetBot from out and about – I tested through the Smart Things app with my phone WiFi disabled and it worked over mobile data. I was also very impressed with the JetBots ability to clean surfaces that are raised off the floor. I have freestanding speakers and kitchen stools that both have bases that are up off the floor. The JetBot lifts itself up and cleans those areas perfectly as well! I am completely convinced of the benefits of owning a robotic vacuum now – yes you'll still have to do the stairs with another vacuum, but that is all you will have to do. I put off getting a Vacuum Robot for quite some time, then I was at relative's who had more than one, and it occured to me needed at least 3 or 4 for my split level home (I was fine with that as long as they could run when I was not around). I have a whole house air filtration and room air filters in most rooms. I'd been concerned that robot vacuums moved around more dust than they picked up. But now the latest robots have decent filters and dust controls. But, more importantly that you don't need to empty the robot everytime it runs. With filtered dust bins you might only need to empty the bin every couple months. Now we're on to something convenient, having to empty tiny bin's on robots defeats the purpose of programming them to run when your not around. The other major change in today's newest robot vacuums is they are getting more quite and more smart. One of the first robots I got "wandered" around randomly, not ideal if you want to get all the floor area. Since then one of the features I look for is decent room mapping. This is a very important feature. This Samsung uses something called Lidar, which is a laser that can measure distance (something I've worked with it before in my profession). So like I said I live in a split level house, one set of stairs that separates my kitchen, dining, living room from my family room, guest bed/bath and laundry. All other bedrooms and baths are upstairs (no robots available today can negociate stairs). Maybe when the learn to fly like a drone this will become possible (seems unlikely given what they weigh). The other big change is robot vacuums is they keep getting more quite, and they are getting longer battery life. The first one lasted about 30m, the new ones last 60-90m. Also the wheels have improved, they climb up and down rugs with ease. I call this Samsung "Whisker", because it only has a spinning brush on one side, I have an earlier version I call "Whiskers" because it has 2 spinning brushes. Since I've watched this one move around, I don't think it matters, as this one turns and moves into corners to put it's whisker to greater use. When you first use this robot, you have to determine it you want it to map your room(s) first, or clean and map at the same time. I tried both methods, and I think it moves more efficiently if it has a map to begin with. The map that it builds seems to be accurate within about 2". Once it has mapped out a room, it then negotiates around the boundaries of the room. This ends up being close to the way it will clean, except if you block it from entering a room it will, skip to another room and try to finish room by room, kind of like you might. It does a excellent job on dense pile rugs, covering every single inch. On hard floors it's not quite as efficient, but still pretty good, in kitchens the toe kick areas are fine if 4" or higher, less than that it won't get underneath. Where I had rugs in my kitchen which went under toe kicks the robot could not fit, but it did not try, so it did not get stuck (like an older robot did). It tries very hard to get under chairs, and does a pretty good job. I am quite impressed by the emptying system, it comes with and extra filter and "Whisker", the Samsung continues to improve, it get more detailed and offers better mapping options now and the ability spot clean, and the ability to draw areas on the map that you may want to exclude (a brilliant feature). One function still missing is auto Avoid Cords. You still must make sure you don't have any notebook power packs/cords on the floor. And make sure you don't have any power cords under furniture, if the robot can get there, the cord will cause problems. Seriously, take care about this. I think this is my 6th vacuum robot, and it's one of only two I'd buy again (both auto empty).3Tcubed

This is a very good Robot Vacuum. This product was on sale & we were satisfied with how it did the job. It cleans very good even though it did not have all the bells and whistles the high priced Vacuums had. The Vacuum was easy to clean and put back together. It's sensors work flawlessly. The only complaint and reason for 4 star instead of five was because I could not get it connected to the Wi-Fi. It works very well without Wi-Fi so I stopped trying to connect after two failed connections. My wife is very happy with the product we would recommend this product to friends and family.Happy

I'm delighted with this little machine. It is very light so can be taken up and down stairs easily. It can be controlled from my phone and a cleaning schedule set if desired. I have a long haired cat so was constantly dragging out the heavy Hoover, but now I just press a button and the robot cleaner gets up all the hair with no effort on my part. The dirt container is easily removed and emptied and the brush can be simply pulled off to remove hair. It works equally well on hard floors, carpets and rugs and stops at the edge of the stairs. The only disadvantage I can see is a possibility of its jamming on the fringe of a rug. Also you must make sure there are no electrical cables around when using it. I will still use my large vacuum cleaner occasionally to get into corners and awkward spots, but for quick , easy cleanups the Bissell is very useful. Wish I'd had one years ago.Elaine P

Okay, I've always been a person who thought "oh how lazy could you be?! Vacuum the house like a "normal person"" but after moving to a new house with our two dogs and messy toddler, I caved and I'll never go back, you can't make me. I send our little robot maid out for 30 minutes to an hour while we are at work during the day. We come home every night to clean floors. The amount of crumbs, dust, dog hair, and outside dirt it picks up everyday is astonishing. It picks up all those little dog hairs that just float around in the air while you try to scoop them up with the regular broom or vacuum. We set up the dock underneath one of our couches so its a little secret that guests never have to even know about. We have an area rug, several tables, couches, and chairs on our main floor and it seems to navigate around them beautifully. If you were on the fence.. just buy it, you won't regret it.Alicia

Like most folks these days I did some research before making this purchase. To be honest, there are so many robo vacuums both name brand named and unbrandes. This model is unique in that it both mops amd vacuums. Few actully do both. The price, comparitively speaking, is great compared to those that do leas amd cost twice as much. I am impressed with the job it does. Far above what i was hoping for. The mopping is amazing as well. The battery even lasts almost twice as long as advertised. I cannot think of a single negative attribute with this model. Im very pleased and will buy another when the time comes.MattMcG

I loved how this valcume picked up. Wasn't impressed with the mop option. But I ended up returning it because the charger/ charging port started not working all the time. The return process has been horrible. First I had to wait for them to email me back, then was offered a discount if I used warranty and now its going to be 10 to 13 days to get my refund. If Wal-Mart is going to sale items on their page please back the product by allowing returns directly through you.laura

Bobsweep is definitely like a child and needs constant watch. He is like a child in there terrible twos, always needing watching to make sure they don’t damage anything. He has no clue where he is ever going, many times just going in circles and cleaning over the same area. He is not smart and takes a long time to return to his charging base. Bob is louder then expected and considering the high price, I would have expected more features and better hardware. For the deal of the day price, bob definitely works but not ever at the full price. After only one hour of use, bob already had surface scratches all over the top of the unit from going under the furniture and getting stuck and not moving away but would just return to the same spot again. The remote for bob is huge and outdated looking for todays times. Bob does a good job at getting the little crumbs and pet hair but I would not recommend for someone who wants a vacuum to clean when they are away. I would never trust this to clean when not home as I fear it would do something stupid or get stuck and rip the carpet or just go back and forth over the same spots.Reviewer2020

I have had bob for over a year now and in that time I have had the battery replaced once. Other than that I love bob. He cleans up pet hair very thoroughly and saves me the hassle of having to do it. HE does some times get stuck but that's either because he's the perfect height to go under counters or the fact I have lips going into or from the kitchen. Haven't used the mop feature but his brushes work well. Sometimes he slams into objects but that's to be expected. He isn't perfect but definitely does a good job cleaning up pet hair. Customer service was great when I had to get the battery replaced. No complaints other than he gets stuck and sometimes can't find his charger.sweatyyetti

I've had Bob about 2 months now and i do not recommend this product. Bob has a programmable remote, but he only works when he feels like it, i have him programmed to run every afternoon Monday- Friday and he has yet to work everyday. You need to be home when he is running because he will get stuck and need redirected. Bob has no pattern, and I swear everytime he sees a pile of cat fur on the ground he turns away from it. Also he cannot get over even the slightest carpet hump. Bob never finds his way back to his charging port and he cannot even sweep my entire living room on one charge (about 45 minutes). Bob is also loud like a regular vaccuum, so he cannot run in the middle of the night for he would wake you up. Overall I do not recommend this product.sugarsnap39

I've had a few robot vacuums over the past few years. I've tried the big names like Neato D-Vacs / Roombas ($400-$700 range) and I found that while they had great suction power and capacity, their navigation abilities made them useless. All the cleaning power in the world means nothing if your robot vacuum never makes it back to it's base to charge and you're stuck hunting for it to carry it home everyday. I got this Eufy G30 Verge on a special buy price of $169 down from the usual $350, and it absolutely blows all of the other robot vacuums I've tried out of the water. It's very deceiving when you first fire it up since it's extremely thin and makes very little noise. I actually tried feeding it a couple dust bunnies to make sure it was on because it was so quiet. Despite this, 30mins into letting it map my house, I had to empty the dust bin because it was full….. with dust and hair (as seen in the pic)…. that was still on my floor without me being able to see it after manually vacuuming the day before. It ran for about an hour and generated a full map of my 1000 square foot condo before heading back directly to it's dock to charge. You can watch it generate the map using the app, and you can see that it uses that map to navigate your home perfectly. It moved in clean lines and then shot to areas of the condo that had missing boundaries on the map to fill in the data. Its very clear watching this bot move that it's far more intelligent than non-mapping bots, especially those that just bump around forever. SUMMARY The compact and stylish Eufy G30 Verge is the king of navigating homes and always making it back to its dock. While it may lack the power and capacity of some of it's larger robot vacuum rivals such as the Neato D-Bot or Samsung models, it is more than capable of ridding your low-pile carpet and hard floors of hair and dust. Although I wouldn't recommend this for homes with operating areas larger than 1000 square feet or large levels of hair and debris like food, this is the perfect bot vac for areas less than 1000 square feet that is generally clean but you would like to maintain. This isn't a miracle worker that can deep clean your floors, but with a price tag of under $200 it's an absolute steal.Alex

I usually love the brand, Eufy. I have had two now. My first one is the first edition and it lasted a few years before it started to be really loud. It still sucked (literally sucked, not it was bad, sucked), but was too loud. So, I bought this one to replace my old one. I put my old one upstairs and kept this one downstairs. First off, it was a fantastic robot. It sucked everything up really well! It was really quiet and really fast. I keep really good care of everything I own. So, I regularly cleaned the filter and cleaned the wheels and did maintenance on to keep it going good. The warranty ran out at 12 months and at 13-14 months my little robot stopped sucking as well and became really loud. I contacted the Eufy corporate office and they told me a bunch of things to do to help the robot. So, I cleaned everything again and the problem stayed the same. I replied again and they offered me a discount. I explained that I think I might have a faulty one because my other one has lasted for years. Also, I did not want to buy another one for it to stop working at 13 months. They then offered a replacement kit, which contained brushes. I already had bought brand new brushes and I knew that this was not the problem. It stopped sucking up debris, so brushes were not what I needed. I explained all of this to them and they said that there warranty is for 12 months and I can honor the discount and that is all they can do. They and I were very polite to each other, but we just do not agree. I normally only review if an item was good, but I just did not want someone else to buy this and have it not work one to two months after the warranty runs out.CJ

I am beyond impressed with my new Greenworks Robot Vacuum! I have an iRobot vacuum but purchased this one for my cottage. This vacuum works so much better at picking things up and follows a clear cleaning path to make sure nothing gets missed. My iRobot goes all over the place without a clear route and can be on for hours and still miss spots. It is also so much quieter that my cat who is afraid of everything is not at all bothered at all by this vacuum. It has 2 side brushes as opposed to the one of my iRobot and I like that it also comes with 2 extra brushes and replacement filter. I am so happy with my purchase!!!CateL

Doesn't vacuum in any organized fashion whatsoever….basically goes all over the place, like it's drunk. Unfortunately, it also goes over the same spots a few times but leaves some spots untouched. I still have to take out my regular vacuum for those and for the carpet (which I knew it doesn't vacuum carpets). It saves me a bit of time I guess because while it vacuums like a drunken sailor, I can do something else and when it's done, I go over what it did and finish with the carpet. Wherever it DOES vacuum, it does a good job and picks up everything, so that's a plus for sure. Good thing it wasn't more than I paid though – not sure yet if I regret this purchase.Adela

I was skeptical that a battery powered vacuum could get results similar to a regular corded vac. I was right. It picks up surface stuff fairly well but is no substitute for a real vacuum. Having said that, we do find it very useful for cleaning up pet hair. We leave it to run in a room when we are gone and the receptacle has a good amount of dist and hair in it. It keeps the carpet a little cleaner between vacuuming. The sweeping pattern is totally random and it tends to stay in one spot for a long time before moving on. When it encounters an obstacle it does an almost full turn and collides with the same object. If you leave it in one small room. block off the areas under dressers and such that it tends to get lodged under, it's handy enough. Our side sweeper brush motor burned out after four months and I read that it should be taken out and cleaned regularly. This is not mentioned in the instructions. For this much money you can buy a mid-range upright which I would recommendSteveC

eufy by Anker's G20 RoboVac is quite nicely made. The plastics used are high quality and it feels sturdy and robust. It's easy to set-up and is pretty much ready to go out of the box. Once it's charged you can send it on a cleaning run with the buttons on the vacuum itself or through the app. While cleaning it is fairly quiet, avoids most obstacles, follows a reasonable pattern, and is gentle when it bumps into walls and furniture. It's low profile and fits under most furniture easily. It had no issues traversing from carpet to throw rugs to tiles floors. Overall, I was impressed with it's ability to navigate the lower floor in our 2000 square foot townhouse. It cleaned the living, dining, kitchen, bathroom, and den in about 1.5 hours. When it finished its first cleaning run the bin was almost completely full or dirt and carpet fuzz… and this was on a carpet that looked clean and had recently been manually vacuumed. With that said the carpeting in our house is not the highest quality and sheds quite a bit with each cleaning. The app to control the vacuum works well on my iPhone 12 running iOS 15. It's an easy to use app and offers the ability to check the vacuum's status, send it on a cleaning run, change some settings, and set up an automated cleaning schedule. The app does not allow you to set no-go zones since the eufy is not a smart mapping vacuum. All in all… quite nice, especially for the price.Anthony P.

Lucy arrived in a very elegant box that added to the excitement of receiving her! Setting up the Lucy was quick and easy using the Trifo app, it took just a few minutes. I really liked how the power cord can be wrapped around 2 plastic pieces inside the bottom of the charging station, keeps the cord so neat and tidy! I charged Lucy for 5 hours as suggested before 1st use. Once charged, I had Lucy begin cleaning my house. She cleaned 2 different rooms for 2 hours before returning to her charging station. I couldn't believe the amount of dirt/dust Lucy collected. I love that Lucy has a low profile, she fit under my bedframe which collects lots of dust and is difficult to clean with a vacuum hose or broom. Lucy has amazing suction (which is adjustable) in my opinion. The size of her dirt collector is quite big for a robot vacuum, in addition it's easy to pop out of the bottom and clean out. Lucy could easily maneuver the 1/2" step up from my hard wood floors to my kitchen floor tiles. I wanted to test out how well the 3D object avoidance worked out and Lucy nailed it! I purposely left out socks, shoes and some pet toys to see how she would move around them. She did great. Reviewing the Trifo app after Lucy was done cleaning was fun and intuitive, I could see how Lucy mapped out areas/rooms she cleaned for future use. The apps tells you how much cleaning area she cleaned and the total clean time. Lucy has dual cameras and the quality is amazing. It was fun to see what Lucy sees as she cleans. In addition the camera can act as a security system to alert you if she detects motion during certain time frames you set up. Lucy is also compatible with Alexa which is very cool! I haven't tried to mopping feature yet but I'm sure Lucy will do a great job with the feature as well. Lucy is very SMART and so worth the money. I am so excited to have Lucy help me keep my house clean all week long, this will save me cleaning time on the weekends! I have two large dogs and pet hair has always been an annoyance for me. Lucy does a great job on pet hair and is simple to use. I am hardly a tachie, but set up and use of App was very easy and allows me to schedule room by room. I have tested it on avoiding items on floor and Lucy is amaazing. Socks, dog toys, even power cords — Lucy can see them and just vacuums around them. Really really a great product !!GrandmaNancy

Not great. My first robot vacuum, so don’t have anything to compare it to. It seems to lose charge quickly. It navigates the house poorly and keeps getting stuck. It misses all of the dog hair along the walls. It does a good job in the center of the rooms. For a cheaper option, I guess you get what you pay for.Lisa

Received the Shark ION robot AV71 as a Christmas gift 2020. We used two-three times a week but was frustrated with it because it always got stuck when turning too close to steps. It completely stopped working after the one year warranty. One year and one month to be exact. Now the light flashes when I turn it on, indicating the bumper may be jammed. I purchased the J7 after I decided to retire my few years old Roborock S4 to the basement and get some newer technology. If the J7 was my first robot vacuum purchase I would probably be happy. But when compared to my previous one this has too many annoying problems. Let me start with what it does better. First, it really is a good-looking vacuum. Much nicer than the homely S4. Next, the amount of pet hair and dirt it collects is at least 30% better than the S4. So isn't that what a vacuum is supposed to do? Vacuum? Why 3 stars? Because it only finishes a cleaning job 50% of the time. Reviewing the last 30 cleaning jobs on the app, only 14 finished. There are way too many issues that require my intervention to get a finished job. It sucks up objects it is supposed to avoid, brushes get stuck with pet hair, doesn't dock properly so not charged for next job, strands itself because it didn't recognize no-go zone, etc. It is rare I need to help along the S4 except to empty the much larger dust bin or clean the washable filter (which the Roomba does not have). I wouldn't say I totally regret this purchase but given the opportunity to do it again I would go with another Roborock. BTW, as I write this review the Roomba has not cleaned in 6 days while I wasn't home. Battery was dead sitting on the charging dock.BretLee

When iRobots first came out I scoffed. The looked cute and all but I could not imagine it going around and just doing its job without interruption. Then I started reading these reviews and Consumers and figured – 90 day money back guarantee (from Walmart, not iRobot) why not try it out. Now we have a small condo (870sq ft) so there are lots of things that need to be picked up before vacuuming. The notion of setting it up to clean without us saying so would not work. It would be swallowing socks or whatever. We learned two main lessons. Let your roomie do its thing. Let it go. Read a book or watch TV. It may be hurrying down the corridor away from you when you think it should have taken care of something right by your side. Let it go. Watch your program. It will come back. The other is that if you have pets clean it out about twice as often as the instructions say. Oh, a third warning. This saves a lot of work but it is not labor free. You need to empty the dust, clean the filter and clean out the brushes regularly. We are a couple in out 70s and really appreciate our roomie even if it pays no rent.Niall

PERFORMANCE: The biggest issue I have is that this Roomba 670 tends to vacuum over the same area numerous times instead of moving in a systematic manner. It takes much longer to complete a job because of the random pattern and vacuuming where it has already cleaned. Rather than making small adjustments and work around furniture, it will turn and go in the opposite direction if it bumps into something. DOCKING: When returning to its charging station, it has a hard time finding the dock and can take quite a while to find its way. If it ends in another room, it will most likely not find its way back before the battery dies and you will have to assist it. CLEANING PERFORMANCE: It does an ok job my hardwood floors, but obviously you'll have to keep the floor picked up from obstructions, and you'll probably want to run it pretty much everyday. VALUE: The price of this Roomba 670 is a little high for no more than it does. $179 would be a pretty reasonable price in my opinion. I believe it normally runs around $269 though I found mine on sale for $199 at Walmart. OVER ALL: It may take some time to decide whether it is actually worth the money spent based on the fact that it takes much longer to vacuum as opposed to just getting a vacuum and doing it yourself, when and where you want to vacuum. The difference between taking 15 minutes to vacuum one room compared to 45 minutes to an hour. For hardwood or vinyl floors I would recommend. I was looking for the proper working robot vacuum before I purchase. Because I have seen a few exp models other brand reviews that its not working / broken problems. I saw a picture of this product that the owner has a cat, it vacuum all pet's fur. Then I decided to get this. It works better than I expected. Easy to install /change to mop. As long as you remove things higher than this vacuum machin's height, it gets all dust. Battery long last for 3times of vacuum in my house(main floor only of a town house). My husband got this for my BD gift. It is the best worthy present so far.freeziall

We have wanted a robot vacuum for awhile now and finally made the decision to get one. Best. Decision. Ever! We have kids and pets…and the floors tend to show it. We run the robot vacuum daily and are totally impressed. Does it's best work on the hard floors, but still makes a noticable difference on the carpet and rugs too. We do a thorough vacuum once a week to get a deeper clean. Tips/Suggestions: *Remember to empty the canister after every clean, or more often if needed.*Remember to clean the filter and bristles often.Anonymous

Unfortunately this version of the Deebot is not it. I just got this today and I’ll be returning it tomorrow. I should have trusted the reviews. On the first use it would stop functioning and state that it was stuck with nothing around it, literally in the middle of the living room. I previously had another model of the Deebot in our vacation home and I loved that one. This model clearly has a glitch.Jvelocity01

Fantastic vacuum! But its not really a mop. The mopping piece is just wetting a cloth and attaching it to the bottom. It mops for a few feet or until the cloth dries up. I returned it and purchased one with a water tank for continous mopping.Razz

We ran this for the first time last night after having lightly swept and vacuumed. We have two large dogs that spend a lot of their time outdoors and hardwood floors with area rugs. Even after sweeping, the Bobsweep found enough hair to basically replace their coats. It also picked up quite a bit of dirt. We haven't tried the mini mop feature yet, but are thoroughly impressed with the vacuum thus far. The only reason I didn't rate it a full five stars is because the battery life is a little weak and it can get caught on even very low pile rugs occasionally.cthug

I was thoroughly impressed with the Shark ION Robot Vacuum R87. For context, most of my house has hardwood or tile flooring and I have two dogs who shed quite a bit of fur. It is always a hassle to get rid of the pet dander as they shed so much it's truly a daily task. Using the robot vacuum is so easy as they provide and abundance of clear direction and the app is extremely user-friendly and straight-forward. As someone who has never used a robot vacuum before, I like how it enabled you to multi-task and was just as efficient as any other standard vacuum. The robot is pretty durable and had little-to-no difficulty maneuvering over small carpets or uneven flooring. It was also pretty fun to be able to turn it on with your smartphone and schedule times for it to clean even when you're not home. As for whether the robot is compatible, per se, with pets I would say it is mildly so. At first, my dogs were taken aback and defensive about the robot's presence, however, with time they got used to it but most certainly are still not fond of it. I have provided a picture for those curious as to how much potential pet fur the robot can pickup as well as just show it's overall capacity. As you can see the robot's suction is pretty powerful and it has quite a lot of space. Important to note, is that it is fairly quiet even though it also has an in-app quiet mode. As for my thoughts on the robot vacuum as a whole, I would say that while it worked really well on my hardwood floors I can see this working amazing on carpeted flooring as it would really get in the nooks and pull out the fur and debris our naked eye doesn't notice. I would also say that this robot lends itself to more spacious areas so if you have a pretty tight accommodation this particular model may not be for you. The key for understanding the robot is that it is not meant to compete with a standard vacuum but rather a cleaning companion/helper that allows you to engage in other activities while also maintaining a cleaner environment. I would recommend this for people that are busy, those who don't like the loudness of traditional vacuums, and people who have pets (especially, those who have carpeted floors).BrownieT

We have owned our shark rv871 for a week. I never expected a robotic vacuum to work this well. It found a screw laying somewhere in my home and sucked it right up into the dust tray, I was amazed that it did not push it throughout my home damaging my hardwood floors. It bounces from room to room doing its thing while we watch tv or cook dinner barely making any noise. Every day I have it set to a cleaning schedule and it amazes me how well it continues to clean. Even after running my stand up vacuum it still cleaned and picked up more dirt from the area rug in my living room. Looking to buy another one as a Christmas gift!shane savage

OK so I have to cut this guy some slack, he is still learning our space, but I do not think the performance is as great as the one we used to have from the original robot vacuum manufacturer they compete with. We named him Lennie after the character in of mice and men, It's a pretty apt name if you know the story. He doesn't suck things our old vacuum used to, he seems to cover less of the room (leaving lots of un-vacuumed spots), and he seems to return to his base very quickly. The first few times we set him to go off when we weren't home, he didn't move. It's hard to verify he is doing stuff when we aren't home, but so far I've had the best success when home as I can send him out to pick up what he missed again. There are some pro's to Lennie, he doesn't seem to mar furniture as much or repeatedly hit it, once is enough to tell him to go elsewhere. He also doesn't seem to get stuck on things as much (like our hearth the other one used to), has a little bit of a higher clearance underneath (I also think this makes him less effective though), and he doesn't seem to eat loose wires & cords as much… more pushes them around. Overall, an OK robot vacuum and I do think a good value for the price point, but I'm not super impressed. The one thing I asolutely hate is the boundary’s they send you, or old system had a laser beam, this is a thick vinyl magnetic strip that you stick to your floors at doors of rooms you don't want it to go in, or around furniture it will get stuck under. I can't believe they actually suggest you putting a box of this around a chair in your living room. I won't be installing any boundaries for this machine, they are so heinously ugly! So for now I'm using a dog gate & hopefully once we finish remodeling our kitchen, I will no longer need boundaries for it.Nicole C
