Reviews:
We bought this to replace a Different outdoor Camera We had and I was not disappointed. The quality of the design is really top notch. It is rugged, clean and sturdy. It comes with an exceptionally long power cable so you can reach distant outlets. My closest outlet was 10 feet away and I needed about 16 feet of cable to reach it. It also comes with all the screws and fasteners one will need to mount it on a variety of surfaces. It's that kind of thought, care and attention to detail that make the Nest camera product brand unique. Video stream quality is exceptional and includes audio so you can hear what is going on as well. But what really makes this camera shine though is its ease of installation and turn-key setup and operation. Everything just works. No messing around and trying to figure out what app to get to see your camera's feed on your phone. The free Nest app is your gateway to your video stream and seamlessly and effortlessly pairs with your camera during the setup process. No need to figure out what your camera's IP address, username and password are or deal with router port forwarding. I can't emphasize enough how easy and user-friendly the whole setup process is. You can also access your camera stream from your computer's web browser without extra and special plugins. The app allows you to view your live stream and photos of activity from the last three hours, as well as receive email activity alerts when sound or motion is detected. But it is much better if you subscribe to their premium "Nest Aware" service which provides a full 10 or 30 day video history with cloud recording, depending on the specific subscription you choose. The premium service also includes person alerts (different then "activity" alerts which only detect motion), the ability to easily setup Activity Zones that provide notifications when motion is detected in a specific area in front of your camera. As well as the ability to create yourself downloadable/shareable clips and timelapses of whatever is available in your history. I really enjoy the email alerts. I typically receive a notification within 20 seconds of a subject walking in front of my camera. This also creates a nice archive of events in my inbox. Activity events are also highlighted with a "dot" on your timeline, allowing you to easily jump from event-to-event without having to search through hours of uneventful activity. This is a really nice feature and makes reviewing the days activity a quick and painless endeavor. I highly recommend this and will be buying more. I especially love the added floodlights!!!MikeConstr1984
We have a business and residence on our property that can not share wifi. During setup through Home the app automatically integrated all of our cameras across three separate routers, including several existing Nest Cams and two new Floodlight Cams, and worked fine. Recently we started having playback issues, and the incredibly intelligent Google Tech Support sent me down a path that resulted in my entire Home setup being deleted. When I began the setup process for the cameras again I found out you can only attach your Aware subscription to one household in the Home app, and you can only use one wifi per Household. This is what was causing the playback issues, but it also means you have to pay $120 not per account, but with the way Google has the Home app configured, PER WiFi. How did this idea ever make it to the public? I've been in God knows how many houses with multiple routers, much less people like myself with sprawling property. What makes this even better is the fact I had to choose between my business building, house, or barn as to which camera would be covered by the Aware subscription. I chose the shop since it has the highest risk, and came home today to find one of my animals dead from asphyxiation because it became tangled up in a feed manger and my barn cam was unable to alert me to motion since the Aware was active on my shop wifi. Thanks Google, A+ product. We're currently upgrading our camera systems to Eufy, and I would suggest you do the same.Chip Parton
I had been a part of the Arlo family of products for years. I was always suckered in by their "higher specs" of 2K/4K video. Let me tell you, the Nest Cam in my opinion has much better video quality. I purchased 3 of these floodlights and am about to purchase 2 more as they produce excellent video, great floodlight brightness and quick responsiveness to alert me of activity. For comparison, I put these up in slightly new locations from my Arlos while temporarily keeping the Arlos live. I received the activity alerts 45 seconds sooner from these despite the Arlos having the chance to see me first. From a technical standpoint, I think the Arlo is alerting me after it's finished filming the full "event" whereas these alert at the start of the event, allowing you to actually take action if needed (greet people at door, etc.). Additionally I am receiving much fewer false alerts than I did on Arlo. Installation: Overall this went well. Yes, the instructions say these need to be wall-mounted and 90% of homes with pre-existing floodlights mount these on the roof eaves. I mounted these no problem on the roof eave ceiling with the motion sensor facing outwards and flipped the camera image 180 degrees and I have no issues with the motion sensor triggering. Second, these "must be" hardwired which I did for my two existing floodlights, but you can turn these into plug-in cameras by chopping the end off of an outdoor extension cord, separate the wires and connect appropriately to the correct floodlight wires and waterproof appropriately with electrical tape. Would be great to have official ways of doing this as well.Michael

Reviews:
I was skeptical about getting a monitoring camera, but this was so easy and simple. My fiance got this as a gift for us so we will have peace od mind. We set it up prior to going on vacation so we could watch our pets and also talk to them. It was fun to watch them turn their heads wondering where we were physically. The Nest Cam is situated so it sees our entire living room, front room, and kitchen area (great room) so that is quite an expansive area of our home. The Nest Cam buys us peace of mind to check and ensure things at home are fine. The video / picture is crystal clear, even at night. The camera has a great wide view so I can see more than just what it's pointed at. I can even hear what's going on in my home. The most helpful feature for me is the Home/Away Assist. This turns the camera off when I am actually in my house. I don't have to do it manually or have it give alerts everytime I walk into the room. I would highly recommend this!nicole.f
App works well, notifications are handy, timeline is great.Sadly, the image quality is kind of garbage for the price. It's all pixelated and noisy. I expect noise for high ISO situations but even with great light it really doesn't look as good as my 1080p Sony camera. It's good enough for most things so I'm fine with keeping it but it's a little disappointing for the price. Glad it works with my other Nest and Google products, which was the entire point of getting it, regardless of cost. Amazon stuff is cheap and their products are okay but they are about merchandising and selling Amazon stuff, so I just have one Echo Show in the kitchen to report Amazon deliveries and help with cooking. Not great for much else, especially music.Everything else is ad-hoc and that means more dumb stuff to mess with.Benji
The product is definitely more expensive than most smart security cameras available in Amazon. However, the nest cam app is very user friendly and intuitively designed. Kinda makes sense since it was originally founded by an engineer who worked at Apple and it is now owned by Google. The motion and sound alerts work very well too. This camera is definitely better than one of those cheap, never-heard-of-companys' security cameras. I know because I owned one before. The app UI was crappy, some options were only available in Chinese, etc, etc. In order to fully take advantage of this camera, you will need $50/year subscription + good wifi in your home because it will eat up your data at least 300GB per month if you decide to record everything in high quality. Without the subscription, I wouldn't recommend it as you can only view videos in live mode (no recording). The set up was super simple and it probably took me about 5 minutes from opening the box to fully operational nestcam.mckenzie.h

Reviews:
Nest (now owned by Google) has been releasing cameras since their acquisition of Dropcam circa 2014. Since then, they’ve launched a Home App, Smart Assistants in the forms of speakers with integrated monitors, and further developed their cameras to include more security features, with the ability to monitor them at the tap of an app or by asking your Google Home Hub. The unboxing experience feels more premium, compared to nest cams in the past, and nicely packaged for easy removal. In the box you’ll find the camera, a power adapter, mounting hardware (screws and anchors), an attached long USB cable with plastic cable clips (no ties here), and a user manual. It’s important to note there is a QR code located on the sticker which protects the lens and is required for setup (don’t lose it). Plugging the camera in, and you’ll hear an audible tone and a slow pulsing blue light indicating it’s ready for setup. You can’t use the older Nest App for installation and will need to use the Google Home app with your Google login to start the setup. I was pleasantly surprised to find the setup effortless, only requiring the use of the QR code on the camera to identify and connect to the camera, followed by confirmation of connection to your WiFi network, and a quick update to the camera. Once you’ve added the camera to the Home App, you’ll be asked if it’s going to be wall mounted, in which case you’ll simply twist the attached mount plate with a simple push and twist. The mount plate has two screw holes, and once mounted, the camera can be reinstalled to the plate with minimal effort. Total installation time was less than 10 minutes, and the camera was ready to view immediately. You will be asked if you want to sign up for a 30-day trial of their recording service, “Nest Aware,” otherwise you’ll be able to view the most recent 3 hours of recordings. If you already signed up for their service, you’ll simply add this to your account, and it should be ready after setup. With Nest Aware, you also get advanced familiar face detection, 10 days of 24/7 recording, and 60 days of event recordings in smaller clips. The camera itself is a nice soft white in color, with a metal hinge that allows for 180 degrees turn, and a slight tilt for positioning. This allowed for various positioning when installing the camera, and the base did a great job of holding the camera in the desired position with no identifiable shifting after installation. The camera light stays on and can be dimmed slightly if you’re placing this along a window to avoid a bright reflection. It blinks green when someone is watching, making this camera ideal for those worried about privacy while it’s on and a way to identify someone viewing. You have the option of using your smartphone’s location to automate home/away modes, in a same way it works with Nest thermostats, enabling recording only when you’re not home, plus you can also turn off the microphone to stop any audio recordings. You can also program activity zones, which will help mitigate false events; such as, near a busy roadway or walk space. The speaker was loud enough to speak to any pets or people viewed in range of the camera, with no noticeable delay during real-time use. The video quality was probably the biggest upgrade from my previous generation Nest cams, with a wide-angle view to capture more the cameras surroundings. Pointing the camera out my front home office window, and I could easily see my entire front yard, and the approach up my driveway. The night vision is on by default to automatically turn on during lower light environments but can be toggled off to remove any glare if you’re placing this looking out a window. Compared to some other cameras, the color clarity in the dark isn’t as vivid, and with the night vision it does provide clear images. It’s important to note that the Nest cam is only compatible with Google’s assistant hubs if you want to view the live feed outside of your smartphone app. Using a Google Nest Hub, you can simply ask to pull up your live feed or use the hub to view previous event recordings. If you already use Googles Nest doorbell or other cameras, you’ll use this in a similar way, by just asking for the camera by name. Overall, I’m really impressed with the ease of setup, and the wide-angle view shows even more detail around the camera.Samrio
I bought Nest cameras (indoor and outdoor) starting in 2016 and have been a big fan over that time. I currently own 5 cameras. When asked, I tell people they work great and are much less buggy than I expected. I like them and expected that to continue. Plot twist. I recently purchased another camera (Nest indoor camera, wired). I bought it without doing any incremental research. After all, I know and love the cameras and ecosystem so what's there to learn? Funny story, I've spent over 5 hours of frustration on this project (simply setting up one more camera) and am swearing off Nest (now Google) altogether. I'll spare you all the sad details but after a 69 minute call with an earnest but clueless tech support agent and another 48 minute call with a more competent, more embarrassed, tech support agent, I learn that I can't stream video from the new camera onto a computer! That functionality doesn't exist. I had to have the agent repeat it several times because it's such a bewildering absurdity in the year 2022 from a not-small company called Google. Turns out I can only stream video to an app that only works on a phone. Furthermore, I cannot create video clips to download and save. For some reason, it only allows me to save "events" that are predefined by an algorithm based on movement/noise. But this will NEVER produce the correct start and stop points for the videos I want. The sliders in the legacy Nest ecosystem work just fine in creating video clips. And on my legacy Nest cameras, I can actually see the video streams in a browser on a computer, which I must state again is not possible on the new camera!! We're going backwards here, fast. Also, there's no way to quickly scroll back in time like in the Nest app, where you can easily navigate to past days and hours without eternally scrolling back in time on a minute bar. Also, the metadata is incorrect as it has date of the download rather than the date the video was recorded. It seems like the software team on this product has never actually used the product in the real world. The crazy thing is that my 5 cameras purchased in the past that still can use the legacy Nest app are working great and that software still works great. I'm shocked Google would put out such a poor product that resulted in so much wasted time/effort on my part (as well as your customer service people). Did the hardware launch somehow surprise the software team? Or did managers just conclude that reducing functionality was worth it so as to lower coding costs? In short, I was trying to add a 6th camera to a functional ecosystem of cameras but now I'm planning to return my new Nest camera and tell this story to anyone who asks. And I'll be looking at alternative offerings that offer basic functionality. I'll give it 2 stars as opposed to one as the hardware seems just fine, it's the software that has taken a bewildering step backwards.DenverDavid
As a longtime Google Home/Nest/Assistant user I am always keen to ensure compatibility between my smart home devices and my Google Home setup, which includes speakers, displays and now two smart camera devices. After a very pleasant experience with Google's new Nest Doorbell (battery) I jumped at the chance to try the new Nest Cam (indoor, wired, 2nd gen). While I have two indoor cameras from another brand already, and both are compatible with Google/Nest, I have been a little disappointed in the performance of the app associated with those cameras — so it was time to try Google's offering. The new wired indoor Nest Cam is a dead ringer for the wireless indoor/outdoor Nest Cam (battery), just with a long USB power cable attached. In what seems to be typical fashion for newer Google/Nest devices, the cam arrived in slickly-packaged box with minimal packaging materials and minimal single-use plastic, which I always appreciate. The cam feels hefty, with a weighted base, stiff metal arm and thick power cord, all of which impart a sense of quality. The cam can either sit on its base (the bottom of which is covered in nonskid rubber) or be mounted on a wall by detaching the aforementioned rubber bottom and anchoring it to a wall or ceiling with the included hardware. Cleverly, the power cord can route through a cutout in the base so it can run straight down the wall, rather than around the base. This allows for a neat installation which I always appreciate. The long power cord terminates in a standard USB-A head which plugs into the included small, circular wall adapter. The Nest Cam requires the Google Home app, which walks you though the simple setup process step-by-step. After a quick software update the cam was up and running, with video viewable from the Google Home app on my phone and tablet and by asking the Google Assistant to "show me the living room" on my Google Nest Hub. My main attraction to this camera in particular was the first-party integration with the Google Home ecosystem, especially Google's intelligent on-device image processing and the Home app's Home/Away routine. By adding this Nest Cam to my Home and Away routines during setup the camera is only on and active when the app detects I am away from home, so I'm not bombarded with notifications every time I walk through the living room. Even better, the camera turns off when I arrive Home, so I don't worry as much about privacy. Like my Nest Doorbell (battery), the Nest Cam can recognize people and animals and notify me when either are spotted — my primary motivation for having wifi cameras at all is to keep an eye on my kitten when I'm gone. Two-way audio works as expected and allows me to talk to the cat or question an intruder should one pop up. Notifications have worked well so far, with the Google Home app quickly and reliably notifying me when my cat walked through the frame. Audio and video quality are perfectly fine, if not outstanding. The feed from this Nest Cam is only 1080p HD, like my battery-powered Nest Doorbell; my non-Google wifi cams offer 2K resolution, which is noticeably crisper. Sure, I'd appreciate higher resolution, especially in a non-budget-priced camera, but for my use a 1080p stream is perfectly acceptable. The lower data impact means the stream can load faster and stream more clearly when I'm out and about, which is really the only time I access video footage. Like other new Google Nest products this cam includes intelligent alerts and 3 hours of event history for free; familiar face detection and 30 or 60 days of event video history require a Nest Aware subscription. Now that I have multiple devices (doorbell, camera, Nest hub) on my Google account a basic Nest Aware subscription really becomes a bargain, adding these features as well as smoke alarm/CO alarm/glass breaking monitoring via my connected devices. This is a pretty hefty value for the monthly subscription price considering one Nest Aware subscription covers all connected devices — unlike some competitors that charge a separate fee per enrolled device. Overall, I'm very pleased with this latest Nest Cam. While on the pricier side, the ability to control the camera with my existing Home/Away routines is a huge boon for me, as well as being able to see all video streams natively in the Google Home app. Add in familiar face detection and month's worth of event video history and I'm sold on the price point of this camera. As with my Nest Doorbell (battery), my only real complaint is the sometimes-unreliable Google Home app. If you've used it, you know it's a bit of a mess of menus, options and buttons, and it does occasionally miss when I leave or return home (therefore the associated routine doesn't run automatically). Hopefully Google will continue to refine and improve the Home app, especially as they continue to add new Nest products to their lineup.z4teen

Reviews:
I recently received the Nest doorbell (with battery) and upon first opening the box, I was a little surprised, as the doorbell was a bit bigger than I expected. Inside the box, you get everything you need to get started. Installation of the Nest doorbell was VERY easy, and I had no problems connecting it with the Google Home app. So far the video quality has been good, and the microphone seems to work well. You do get 3 hours of free video history, which I do wish was a little longer. I also love the "Familiar Faces" alert, however, if you would like longer recording history, or to use the "Familiar Faces" alert, you would have to sign up for Nest Aware. A few quick notes: they explain on their website that the battery version will not record continuously 24/7. You will need another Nest camera or Nest wired doorbell, along with a Nest Aware Plus to take advantage of that feature. Also, while this doorbell is weather-resistant, the directions mention that is it NOT waterproof, so if it does get damaged, you may lose the weather-resistance. While I have been happy with using the Nest doorbell powered by the battery, I do think we may eventually hardwire it, so we do not have to keep bringing it in to charge it.BeachieBummi
I got the Nest Cam to monitor activity on the side of our home that leads into our yard. This area is a blind spot for us and faces the entrance to our cul-de-sac. We own a couple of other Nest products and it is a reputable brand that I trust with performance and longevity. This camera also has several features which helped in making our decision to get this camera. It can be used indoors or outdoors, it is powered by the built-in rechargeable battery, and it can provide intelligent notifications (motion is caused by people, animals, or vehicles). This product was very easy to set up and install. You will first need to plug the Nest Cam into an outlet, download the Google Home app, create an account and follow the steps to set up the camera by selecting Nest Cam(battery). There is a sticker on the camera lens which has a QR code that you will need to scan to connect the camera to your home’s Wi-Fi network. After connecting, you will be given the opportunity to enroll in a 15-day Nest Aware trial period which one needs to view recordings longer than the most recent 3 hours and also the face recognition feature. This is a con to me when subscriptions are required to reap further benefits. Installing the Nest Cam was quite simple as all you need to do is attach the mounting plate, with the enclosed screws and anchors, to the area you want to place the camera then lock the magnetic plate onto the mounting plate and secure the camera to the magnetic plate. The camera holds steadily once installed. The beauty of it being battery powered is that you can place it anywhere! The video quality is superb for both day and night and the motion detection and intelligent notifications were precise. I liked that these alerts can be tailored such as you may only want to be notified when a person causes the motion and not a car or animal. The app is easy to use and we are reassured that we can readily monitor our house while we are home or away.69Pace
I was really excited to be getting this Nest Doorbell, but a little curious as to how hard it would be to set up. Turns out, it was a piece of cake to set up! The quick start guide walks you easily through the set up process, and it all went just as it should. It probably took 10 minutes at most. That doesn’t include mounting, just setting the camera up for use, and connecting to my existing Google Home network. During set up, the camera activates so you can see the picture and choose the best location for mounting. (After I did that, I came back in and captured a screenshot of my living room so you can see the wide range and quality of the camera.) The camera has a vertical view, a 3:4 ratio, so you can see people at your door from head to toe, as well as packages on your porch. I figured that pretty much anywhere I mount it near my front door is going to work. It’s also got HDR and night vision. I haven’t mounted it yet, because it arrived when we were having a huge snowstorm, and I just haven’t gotten out to do it. But that looks super easy, too. There’s a mounting bracket that screws on to your wall, and the camera easily attaches to that. There are no wires, which is awesome. It does come with a small wire connector, which looks like you can use to connect it, if you are replacing an existing doorbell. Otherwise, it runs on battery power and connects through wifi. Reading more about it on the website, it looks like your battery can operate up to 7 months without recharging, if you have all of your settings set to conserve power, and little activity. It comes with a usb-c cable for charging. The port is on the back, so you’d simply remove it from the mount and take indoors to plug in and charge it. It’s got lots of features, which you can read about on the website. I was able to easily add it to my existing Google Home network. No problems at all. And, the thing is beautiful and classy looking! It’s got a big doorbell button, but is sleek and minimalistic in style. And when you hold it in your hand, it feels heavy, and feels like your holding a great quality item. I love it and would definitely recommend it to others!daUPhere

I keep reviewing on Google play but they keep erasing it. Why silence honest opinions of this horrible product. This camera has been the worst purchase I have made. We pay for a subscription to record events which has not happened yet. The camera itself captures motion on the Lowest setting when the house is empty and quiet. It would send 500 alerts in an 8 hour shift over absolutely nothing. We left town and came home to a mess and wanted to see what happened. There were zero recordings even though we've paid for our subscription. Buy a better system if you value your home.Kyle
This is refurbished pan cam at for what I consider a low cost of $20. I had been curious to try a WYZE cam. It seems to move fine. The quality of the video is also good. Good sensitivity at low light levels. What I didn’t like is to start using the cam requires setting up an account at WYZE before you can test the cam with a cel phone. That is followed by a lot of daily emails to buy more products and have a paid subscription to better WYZE motion detection software. When it records, I wish it had a setting to decide record length and break a large file into smaller files (example: file size of minutes and not hours). That way if the file is corrupted, the whole recording is not lost. Plus it is easier to pick out a smaller file to save or move. I was really hoping to be able to connect it to my security DVR, but it doesn’t have Onvif protocols. There isn’t any software WYZE offers for PC’s. RTSP firmware can be loaded on the cam and the video can be seem by VLC software on a PC, but still no software to control it from a PC. Tech support wasn’t very helpful. Decided to keep the cam, but it isn’t the cam for me and I wouldn’t recommend it.tsds
When the Wyze cameras first came out they were amazing. Decent hardware at a great price, and helpful developers actively listening/contributing to the community discussion. Not long after receiving a large investment from Norwest Venture Partners things seemed to change. The long awaited RTSP feature that had been talked about from day 1 was essentially killed off with just a half hearted off chute firmware which seems to be intentionally difficult to get working. That firmware also removes most of the other features which were already functional. Wyze has really committed to the Surveillance As a Service product model which means you now pay monthly for your $25 camera. Features like Record to SD on Motion, which were a selling point of the cameras now require a paid membership to use. And on a number of camera models, the SD slot has been disabled by the newer firmware. (Cannot say if this is a "bug", but I have not heard back from support) Take this with a grain of salt as it is purely an opinion, but I would no longer recommend these cameras unless this is what you are looking for.iTGui

The claims of the batteries lasting a year are preposterous unless perhaps the cameras are barely recording doing any work. In the eight months I've had mine I've charged three of the cameras twice and one of them four times. They work more in the summer when there are leaves on trees causing shadows that move and get picked up by the motion detection. But if I make the motion less sensitive, I'll miss seeing the motion that matters so I just deal with it. But once I've learned the quirks of the system and gotten past a few limitations of the app I don't like, I really like the system overall. The video quality is great. There are no hidden fees. There are no monthly fees necessary and the app is easy to use and doesn't require unnecessary steps to waste time to view a camera when an alert pops up (compared to my awful Arlo system that requires a fingerprint and then shows an advertisement and has a huge lag before finally connecting to see the motion that it likely missed anyway but I can't see without paying their fee). I wish this system was compatible with IFTTT and had better integration with Google Home and SmartThings as my other home security devices are, but the fact that every time look at one of these cameras on the app or computer and it's right there all the time without any lag or any delay in connecting, is much more importantStruff
It seems these cameras using IR to detect motion. This means that camera cannot record the video right away and first couple seconds of movement are missing. Also, it means that motion detection range is smaller that field of view. It will detect motion within ~45ft, but would record great image from much more distance. Finally, even after missing couple seconds, first couple seconds of the recording at night still recorded without night vision. Only then camera switches to IR. All these is a price for 365days battery life. So far we caught our cat escaped in the middle of the night. Cameras serving their purpose for me, but would be nice to know these limits on advance.C.A. B.
I didn't want my home videos in the 'cloud'. I mean, where's that? Who owns the images? Who may be watching them. I want my videos here in my control. Last december my catalytic converter was stolen from my Prius. And again in February- that's right, two months later. We have gangs of low life just driving by, they stop at the house for a minute, then they take off. Same cars, same two cars. With that plastic cover on the license plates – makes it hard to read at an angle and can't get a photo. So I got this kit. Setup was a snap. And I was able to get long micro USB cables and wire up the front camera so I don't have to think about charging it. I am going to do the rear door camera next. This is a good start to a reasonable system; the cameras are as much a deterrent as they are a recording device. I put that front camera above the garage in a very visible location. Next I will be ordering a motion detector for inside the garage, where the Prius now is. Add a few door sensors and maybe a kit with the doorbell and another homebase 2 and I think I will have a reasonable setup. The best part is, most people think the videos are in the cloud so messing with the camera makes no sense- the videos are already uploaded where they can't get to them. If you can wire up the home base via ethernet, that works best as you don't get as much delay in playback so try to do that if possible. I also chose to angle the cameras in a way where the front one has sensitivity out to the sidewalk, so it's triggered and recording by the time the person is on my driveway.

Pros: Easy to set up and use. You can have the cams live streams on Google Nest Hub, Hub Max and Chromecasts connected to the television. Detects motion and sound. Cons: Sound detection is very sensitive and even on lowest setting it triggered alerts from noise in the commonways of the flats. I just use motion detection.Steven
I've had this security camera in my apartment for years. I originally bought it because I liked being able to see my cats when I was away from home, but I ended up networking two of them to watch my entryway. It's super easy to set up, and the Kasa app works without a hitch. My only beef with it is that Kasa doesn't allow a local save option, just cloud uploads that they want to charge you a subscription for, and that's something I just refuse to do because it's straight up unnecessary and blatantly just a cash grab. A microSD card would work perfectly fine. Unfortunately, the vast majority of internet connected cameras are subscription.malice.a

I bought it to catch my roomie stealing from me. Only had it a week and I caught him snooping in my room.Christopher J.
I have multiple Kasa cameras in my home. They work great and record 24/7 with the SD card I placed inside all of them. I was not comfortable with having a company have access to my indoor cameras so now I can just monitor them myself. I can see and hear clearly through the camera all in one app. I've had them for a year and so far no issues.shaksoleil

Reviews:
Eufy is a brand, owned by Anker, based in China. Their products have notable high-level engineering in them, good quality, good OEM support, and fabulous packaging. Their Eufy security cameras are no exception. This unit from Anker (the 2k Pro) is Battery powered and will stay up and running – no power added – for a good long while depending upon your motion detection settings. This unit varies in price wildly, so watch the pricing here or find it – at one point they were being sold for $99 mid pandemic. The night vision feature is well done. We bought one, then quickly picked up 3 more to add to the Eufy collection. Solid construction, good engineering, the firmware is updated by the factory on its own, and its fairly waterproof. Easy mount, it has a (strong) magnet in its base, so if you have a ferromagnetic location (anything made from regular steel), you can simply "stick" it to the metal object. Rainfall and moisture tend to obscure the lens. I bought the added silicone protective skin for some of these. Some of their security cameras / doorbells – require Eufy is the Homebase2. This is one such device. Can strongly recommend. We own cell phone chargers, robotic vacuum, and now a series of eight (10) security cameras, remote doorbells. A++++
You might be looking at this camera thinking of how convenient it would be to have a battery life of a full year. Sounds great until that year is past and after charging the camera for a second time you find out the device is a dud. No worries, the warranty should cover that, right? Wrong! The warranty expires just as timely as the battery charge – 365 days. Do not look at the battery length of 365 days as a positive, it turns out to also be one of the top negatives. Eufy needs to step up and extend the warranty period for these cameras and stand behind their product. Instead, Customer Service for Eufy will only offer a discount on a replacement. I am not paying money twice on something that should be covered under warranty. I now have a high priced paper weight and disappointment for the other Eufy products I supported. I do not recommend this brand to anyone looking for any service they offer, they do not stand behind their products. I look forward to the copy-pasted response to this review.Chase
I had bought another very popular set of security cameras cheaper in price but it would not notify me when someone was at my door. So I return them once I tried getting tech support to help and they told me it would take 7 business day to figure out what was wrong with them. After doing more research I found this guy on YouTube that test out cameras. He gave this one a great review. Yes it was a little more pricey than the first set I returned from another company but you get what you pay for. These are perfect and so easy to install and I haven’t had any issues getting the feed. I have control of saving the clips or deleting to make room for more videos. So far “I love it” and it has no delay on notification. It also identifies if it’s a person or an cat. I read on reviews that the home base needs to be close to both cameras but since my home is 1400 sq ft I placed the home base some where in the middle of the house and it works perfectly. Another great feature is you don’t have to pay monthly to get your videos like other camera systems. If you decide to pay monthly its $2.99 or $9.99 per month unlike other security cameras. I highly recommend it.Amazon C.

I love my new Cync camera. When I am away, I can check in on my senior dog, and when we travel, I can turn on notifications for security. The instructions were minimal, but after I dowloaded the Cync app, it led me through what to do, and it all went smoothly. I was able to add it to Google Home, but I cannot see the livestream in the Google Home app. It says that If I had a smart display or Chromecast that I could ask my Assistant to stream it there. The Cync app livestream display is great, and the free trial of cloud storage is nice. After the free trial, they offer monthly or annual cloud storage plans.speedycart
This camera is super easy to set up. You can screw or tape the mounting plate to the wall and the camera just sticks to the plate with a magnet. Download the app and you're good to go! The app supports multiple cameras, each with their own customizable settings. You can watch the camera streaming or set up alerts to detect movement. There is a setting to only alert you if it detects human movement so pets shouldn't set it off. The night vision is really nice and I appreciate that you can set it to record audio as well. You do have to pay for their cloud storage (comes with a free trial) or use a micro SD card for video storage, so make sure it's mounted out of reach if you're using it for security and using the SD card. Overall a great little camera!cawlyn89

I would definitely recommend this camera to other people. I have solely recommended it to a few friends and the have purchased a few.Lonzo

Out of the box, the setup was pretty simple, and the motion and sound detection worked great. I don't want the motion/sound detection to be on when I'm at home, so I toggled them off. Now I can't get them to toggle back on again. Keep getting an error saying someting about 'couldn't connect to camera (-3)'. I can still stream the video from it, and the wifi signal is showing very strong, so the connection is obviously good. Figured I'd try a firmware update to see if it was a bug that needed fixing, but after watching it 'update' the firware to 99% over 10 minutes of time, it fails, saying that I should check the connection to the camera. I tried to contact support, but they weren't much help. Without the motion/sound detection, this camera is pretty useless unless you plan on watching the live feed constantly. ***Update: I was able to resolve the problems I was having by removing/replacing the micro SD card. After replacing the card, the problem seems to be resolved. Updating my rating to 4 stars.
I purchased x5 Indoor Cam 2K Pan & Tilt on January 18, 2021. After using them for over a year now I can safely say without a doubt it has been one of the worst experiences I have ever dealt with. Day one I got a trial for their cloud storage, not knowing it wasn't cumulative, I also purchased their monthly plan which effetely deleted my trial time. I was unable to get 2k activated with NAS (RTSP) and over a year later and many updates, today, 7/19/2022 it still will not work. 2k will also not work with cloud storage. The whole 2k gimmick was a BS sales tactic I hope no one else falls for which tricks you into buying a more expensive camera over their 1080p option while still forcing you to use 1080p. After a year and 6 months I still couldn't tell you why every 3 months I need to go through the pain staking hassle of reconnecting all 5 camera's to the router again. Apparently disconnections are one of the top complaints for this model too so I shouldn't have been surprised but I am as I figured a software update at some point would fix the issue. One of the main causes for the camera's to stop functioning until being physically reset that I have found and consistently proven is simply starting and ending cloud storage service. These camera's are effectively 1080p headaches and you shouldn't waste your money on them. To be fair in this review, when they are actually working and you can look past that you are not getting their full hardware potential after paying nearly $250, the picture is clear with good color and what you normally see on 1080p video on other mediums, sound is clear, speaker works fine through them and app is easy enough to use and interact with the camera's.
I bought the Eufy lock to replace my failing Kwickset keyless entry door lock. I took a chance on a brand that I had never heard of. I like it so much that I looked at their other products and found the P24 camera. Since my Amazon Cloud Cam will be disabled by Amazon on Dec 2, 2022, it looked like the P24 would be a good replacement. Setup was easy, and it works great. For now, I'm using the onboard storage (the cam takes a micro SD) but Eufy offers very reasonably priced Cloud Storage too. Now a few (I hope) words about cameras and meshed WiFi home router systems. Our SimpliSafe video doorbell does NOT work well with the meshed system. I have had no such issues with the Eufy P24. Now I wish I had gotten one of the Eufy video doorbells.

Reviews:
TL:DR – This camera feels sturdily built and has fantastic functionality for its price point. The app is easy to use, but it's not without its flaws. I would absolutely recommend this product for someone with a similar usage situation. — I settled on this camera during my hunt for a security-typed camera that needed to have a specific set of criteria for usage by my parents on their property: 1) Inexpensive (less than $50 per camera) 2) No monthly subscriptions required 3) Wireless data transfer 4) Outdoor capable 5) Ability to view feed from a mobile phone The Wyze Cam v3 fit the bill for all of these. My parents were in need of a new camera/system for observing different aspects of their rural property including an overview on their pet chickens. They were running a fairly-antiquated camera system that utilized a wireless (non-WiFi) connection to a main handset receiver that allowed them to view the camera feeds. The system only allowed up to 4 cameras to feed to the handset, and none of the feeds could be viewed from a mobile phone… or even from out of a certain wireless range of the handset itself. I had only recently been able to get them set up with 5G-based WiFi (literally no wired internet services available to the property, so even this was a blessing to get), so this opened up a new set of options to choose from. They don't have a much in the way of disposable income, but they also refuse to let me buy things like this for them. I did a considerable amount of research for cameras under $50 from notable/trustworthy sources. After finding the Wyze Cam v3 to be well-within that price point at $36 per camera (along with the claims of it meeting 2-5 above), I bought one and tested it out once I received it. I was thoroughly surprised with what I got. Each camera comes in a box that's so tiny from the outside that I thought "Oh, there's why it only cost $36… this is a gimmick and actually requires something else to function." I'm glad to say that I was wrong. The only things you need to get it up-and-running are a mobile phone and a WiFi connection. It can stand on its base without needing mounting (if used indoors, for example), or it can be mounted directly to a metal surface (magnet in the base) or to a wooden surface with a screw. Getting the camera set up is incredibly straight-forward once you download the app. All of the instructions are easy to follow. I would recommend, however, that you do the initial setup under indoor lighting as I had significant difficulty trying to get the camera to recognize a QR code on my phone's screen under natural sunlight. Once the camera is registered on your account/with the app, you can unplug it from power and move it around to the final location without having to do the setup again. There is an optional monthly subscription if you'd like to accrue cloud-based uploads of events/activity that occur on camera, but it is not necessary. Each camera has a micro-SD slot for physical storage making the cloud-based service even less of a consideration. The WiFi connectivity is good and fast. My father planned to put a camera inside of a sheet metal barn detached from the house, but I was skeptical that it would work without a WiFi signal extender. After connecting the camera to the account inside the house, he moved it to the intended location (about 65-75 feet from the WiFi router and through a standard wooden wall and a sheet metal wall). There were no issues at this distance with these obstructions. Of note, the route does utilize WiFi6, so I'm unsure how much of an affect this would have over a "standard" WiFi signal. The cameras appear to be purpose-built for outdoor usage with no discernable areas for moisture to get it (save a speaker at the bottom of the device). The camera itself has a small cord with a female micro-USB shrouded in a rubberized material. Using the supplied standard male micro-USB cable (for connecting it to power) creates a seal with the rubberized collar that I would feel confident is truly water-proof under standard conditions. The power plug itself is NOT water-resistance in any fashion and must be utilized indoors or away from any potential rain or water sources. These cameras aren't super-detailed due to being only 1080p resolution, but that kind of goes with the price point. With this in mind, I (and my parents) are still very impressed with the sharpness that they're getting compared to their old system that was only 720p. My biggest gripe with these cameras is actually a shortcoming with a function within the app. Specifically, the app touts an ability to set an activity zone. Oddly enough, I was surprised to even see the function when I was looking around in the settings. This is a base feature and doesn't require a subscription to use. The problem is that it doesn't work at all when set. Further reading led me to believe that this is a bug in the software that Wyze is aware of but still has yet to resolve. There are several funDontDoIt
Nice inexpensive pack of 2 cameras. The wyze v3 cams are advertised as outdoors, but they still need to be plugged into an electrical outlet with an included power adapter. While the camera is rated for outdoor use, the power adapter is not. The cameras themselves are rated for outdoors because of its IP rating for being able to withstand water splashes, rain, etc. Depending on where outdoors you might be putting this, you may be better off with a wireless battery model (those however need to be recharged from time to time). More on this further on in review. The cameras themselves are very small, and about the size of my fingers. Super discreet and tiny, which is a good thing unless you are visually trying to deter someone. You can adjust the camera off its base up and down and side to side. The base of the camera is where you can wall mount the camera with a screw if you want, however I love that there is a magnet on the base of it too so you can mount it on something metal without needing to drill a hole. It also comes with a metal plate with adhesive backing so you can stick it up somewhere that isn’t metallic too. Camera has an SD card slot so you can actually continuously record video to it, without having to pay for a subscription. It can also just record motion events that it detects to the SD card. Downside of this is that if a thief sees the camera, they can just take the entire camera with them. Viewing the footage is done through the Wyze app on your phone, playing back directly from the SD card in the camera. Wyze app is pretty well thought out, and offers recording options, viewing options, 2 way conversation functionality, motion sensitivity control and much more. Camera has a built-in alarm, but it is not very loud. Camera video looks great either in day or night. Night vision works really well. I was surprised how well the picture quality was in the dark. While the camera works without any kind of paid subscription with an SD card, you can sign up for a wyze Cam Plus subscription trial for added features and cloud storage for a very inexpensive price compared to competing camera brands. My only gripe is that I wish that they were wireless. Had they been wireless they would have been perfect for outdoor use in virtually any scenario within reach of my router. As it is in my living situation, I don’t have an outdoor outlet close enough to where I want the camera that would keep the power brick safe from possible rain/snow, or even a potential thief just yanking out the cable. Overall, for the money these are a great set of very small and discreet cameras for most consumers. Just think about where those cameras will be installed as they are wired power cameras.blah
Having cameras around your property is always a good deterrent for thieves and is also just a great way to keep an eye on your property when away. I had 4 Wyze v2 cameras hooked up when the offer to test the Wyze v3 came to me. This review will be pretty short and sweet as most people are now familiar with Wyze cameras and how they operate, but I’ll try to detail the standout features of the cameras and the Wyze services that are offered. Overall impressions will be up first, followed by a breakdown of my experience with the cameras. Overall impressions: Wyze is still a leader in the budget home security and automation market. The Wyze v3 cams offer great performance in any lighting condition, fantastic basic features, and an sd card slot for local recording. The Wyze app has improved over the years and holds it’s own now with other video monitoring apps out there. Unfortunately, a lot of advanced functionality is behind a paywall, but I have found that most people will find the free Wyze cloud service to be enough for their needs and if you pair the camera with an sd card you can get around some of the limitations by recording continuously on the camera itself. Wyze has always been a leader in the value market for home security and automation, this doesn’t change with the Wyze v3 cameras. They retail at a very affordable price and come in multi-packs like the white ones I received. The marked improvements over the v2 cameras are weather resistance and color night vision. The build quality of the v3 cameras is much better than the v2 and the camera looks and feels like a much nicer product than the previous iterations. You’ll receive everything you need to install your Wyze v3 in the box and should be able to mount the camera just about anywhere that a power source is available. I have my cameras set up on the eve of my garage and on the outside of the house in the backyard area. These two areas are exposed to weather constantly and the v2 cameras took a beating in these spots. Those old cameras came down with yellowed plastic and dirt-filled SD card slots, but they still worked. These v3 cameras come with a cover for the sd card slot which should eliminate one of those issues, but only time will tell how well they hold up to the elements. Installing the cameras was as easy as mounting them on my existing magnetic mounts from my v2 cameras. If you’re installing these for the first time, it’s really as easy as mounting the magnetic mount with the included double-sided tape and attaching the camera to it. I’ve had no issues with the cameras falling or even shifting due to weather or wind using these magnetic mounts. If you want something more sturdy, screw mounting is also available. Setting up the cameras is also easy with the Wyze app. It’s a matter of scanning a QR code and following the setup procedures. A firmware update will most likely be needed, but after that, the camera shows up in your Wyze app and you can adjust settings, detection zones, alerts, notifications, and other settings like night vision. You also receive a free trial of the Cam Plus service that does allow you to add enhanced recording and other features to the camera like AI detection of persons, vehicles, etc. The service offerings by Wyze at the moment are a little confusing and a little expensive in my opinion. They are offering services on a per-camera basis, which is fine if you only have one or two cameras, but in my situation, I have 6 cameras and the cost is just a bit higher than I’m willing to pay. I do not use any of the enhanced services and have purchased sd cards for all the cameras so that I can locally record continuous footage in case I need to review something that doesn’t fit in the recording windows that the free service provides. Mind you, the services offered by Wyze will most definitely be helpful and utilized by many people, but they just do not offer enough to justify the price for me personally. I commend Wyze for giving us the option to add an sd card to be able to store continuous recordings though as some cameras, especially in this price range, do not have this feature. Well-lit areas will see the camera excel with the camera’s higher frame rate and crisper video quality, the v3 exceeds Wyze’s older offerings in every category. The Wyze v3 performs like a camera twice as expensive and I don’t think anyone will be disappointed with how it functions. Sure there isn’t any fancy zoom feature, it can’t rotate by itself and it doesn’t have a laser that shocks intruders, but it does have a siren now and records video in the direction you point it at. Detection settings are all adjustable within the app and work well to minimize notifications in areas that you don’t care about. The night vision is much improved on the v3, allowing for color night vision in certain scenarios. I like to leave all the night vision settings on “auto” as the setting seems to work quite well for me. The 2 cameras I have situated outsideKMed

WIth a few changes this would be a solid system, but until then, I cannot recommend these. What to change: 1. Google should let us decide how often we want to get notifications. For now you can only receive a notification once every 10 minutes during the "cool down" phase – which renders this essentially useless as a security camera. Say you drive away from your house, the camera will notify you of movement – your car, and then you will not receive a notification for the next 10 minutes. OK simple solution is turn the camera off, and turn it on once you clear the camera's field of view. Great! What about a package being dropped off at your house – notification received. But then 5 minutes later a porch pirate comes and steals that package – YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE A NOTIFICATION! This is so crazy to me that Google decided this was a good idea. The theft of the package will be recorded, but you will not receive a notification of it because it was within 10 minutes of that first notification. 2. Battery life is good, losing about 1% a day even in 10 degree weather with about 1 minute of recording per day. But recording time is capped at 3 minutes max on battery. Again, Google, let us decide! 3. Distance – one of our cameras captures distance 30 feet away. The other only about 6 feet. Have swapped the cameras in the locations and nothing changes. 4. Dark color. Some of us do not want these to be so visible. Sure there are skins and covers but the manual clearly states not to cover the cameras, presumably not to affect performance/heat. WIth a few tweaks this would be a solid system, but as of now, for most uses, they are not good enough.HaloJones
Was excited with my initial purchase of this product, but learned just through my own experience that it has its limitations. Pro: It’s Wireless This was the number one selling point for me. This aspect though, draws minimally or greatly on the battery, depending on how you set up. It could last you months, or it could be drained in a week. When I purchased this, I saw the Nest name and had previously purchased Nest indoor cams that I am very pleased with so I didn’t hesitate to buy this wireless outdoor model. Well this is Nest by Google. No pairing into my existing Nest App. Had to download the Google Home App to operate it. The camera has very crisp video and great sound pick up. My live video does go black screen for a second and then picks back up about every minute or so. Night vision is not bad up close, but depth is not the greatest. One of the Cons on this totally wireless camera is that there are only the last three hours of recorded events available whereas if you use an actual power cord, it will evidently continue to record and store if you choose. The other Nest indoor cameras were a good model aside from the yearly subscription fees. This product to me just seems like more of a glorified trail cam that requires WiFi and constant recharging. Going to purchase an aftermarket power cord for it to see if I like the performance any better. Three stars is the best I can give it at this point.LockDoc

Very impressed and worth way more than the price! Camera has a great picture, even with the lowest of the three settings. The two way communication is great and audible both ways. The night vision is excellent, and works exceptionally in zero light. My only complaint at all is that it's a little bulky and kind of stands out in the room. But it's purpose wasn't to be aesthetically pleasing, so I'm not taking stars away for that. Overall, I would highly recommend! I'm going to buy one for my aunt for Christmas. It's a very useful and even entertaining gift, a surprisingly reasonable price. Wyze doesn't even give itself enough credit for the quality and value of this camera.Enelle
Excellent and worth upgrading to if you have the v1. The new low/no light sensor from the other camera being now build in makes an enormous difference. Why not 5 stars? I don’t think the firmware is there yet. When set to auto, the camera gets confused about when the IR should be on or off. Sometimes it’s in broad daylight and the IR is on and oddly in black and white when it should be off and in color. Definitely more testing needed here but appreciate all the firmware updates that come out. For v3, a hardware update should include a rotating eye, clockwise/counterclockwise to level the image. Or even self-level while panning!Mista C
I have seven of these Pan v2 cameras split between two different locations 1,200 miles apart and they both work together within the app smoothly. They have been running just fine for about 2 months. These cameras are SUPER simple to set up. I have only about 10 M/s wifi in both locations and they have restarted correctly after several power failures – one that lasted a few days. I have NOT had the difficulties I see in other reviews. (At least not yet!) For one version of the app, since fixed, the app was crashing my iOS 16 phone when switching to landscape mode, but that was easy to avoid for the week or two it took to fix. I use these as "critter cams" as well as security and the picture is very clear, they work in unusually low light (it looks like daytime in bright moonlight), and I especially appreciate how quickly I can go through "events" (triggered by motion or sound) to see what went on during the last day.Doug S.

Reviews:
We have a Ring Indoor Cam in one of our rooms (Where one of our cats stays when we aren't home) so we can monitor our pets while we are at work. We use a few cameras , different brands, and the Ring is exceptional. We have 2 way speech on it, so we can talk to and be spoken to back, it has an alarm option and the ability to record footage. Mine needs a subscription though to save footage (which is a monthly fee), which is the only downside as our others save the footage on Memory cards by looping. The footage of these Ring cameras are clear and great, and has the ability to change into night vision too which is great. You can be alerted when there is motion, and the camera size is quite small and minimalistic and doesn't take up much room or look like an eyesore. If you are happy about paying a monthly subscription then this is great, although you can still run it without one (access via their app on your phone) but you can just view, not save footage. A great quality camera with high resolution and clear footage- The ability to activate the alarm is great if you ever need to as well.michelle.m
Pretty easy setup to Ring security system. Only 1 camera hung on software update but the rest were smooth. The Ring app is pretty good. Shows bandwidth use which is helpful for limited data plans. Can set motion zones like Google Nest. Video history – I like Google Nest's history scrolling and review much better. I try to view specific timeframes in Ring app but video will scroll to another time period. Nest is smooth and easy in this respect. I admit is could be user error.AKtravels
I purchased this in-door security camera to protect my privacy of my bedroom as I live in shared accommodation and wanted to make sure nobody was sneaking around in my bedroom. The camera works great and the motion detection and video quality is incredible for the price. However the sound quality is inherently and noticeably worse; the microphone on the camera itself is pretty God awful unless it is placed in the same room as the broadband box, and the same goes for the talk-back feature; the speaker on the microphone emits barely any viable sound. One thing I did not realise was when signing up with Ring, the video and motion capture storage is actually not included with the camera, and it costs £2 per month as a somewhat hidden subscription fee. All in all i'm not entirely disappointed with the camera because of the price tag – but it could definitely be better.Wangdalf
