Best Canister Vacuum Cleaner With Bag (2025 Update)

Moved from Sweden to US a few months ago and was annoyed with the traditional vacuum cleaner we had here, having having to maneuver a heavy and loud motor and not being able to reach underneath furniture. Was driving me crazy and it felt like it was blowing out more dust than it picked up. The Tritan vacuum is very efficient and I was actually surprised by the high quality and power of the motor considering this is not a very expensive machine. It really does the job and with the included attachments it works for any cleaning need. The only downside to it is that I would have liked the electric cord to be a bit longer for better range, but it works well anyway. Many years ago there was a Swedish brand of Vacuum cleaners called "Elektrolux" and they had a slogan "Nothing sucks like an Elektrolux". I would change that now to "Nothing sucks like a Prolux". 🙂Anthony76

I really wanted to love this vacuum, but will have to return it, in spite of the suction being awesome. The suction is as good or better than my Shark vacuums. I needed a good HEPA canister vacuum that would work well on my hard surface floors, window shades/blinds and walls/ceilings. I was disappointed to find that even though there is a HEPA filter, the bags are not HEPA bags. I haven't determined, yet,if the vacuum is sealed well enough, to avoid dispersing dust back into the room. Additionally, the bristles on the hard floor brush are so stiff and scratchy, I am reluctant to use it on my hardwood floors. Unfortunately, none of my better attachments, from my previous vacuums, fit the Tritan. I need to be able to vacuum my walls and ceilings, but the floor brush is not suitable for that either. I would like to be able to comfortably (and safely) vacuum the tops of door frames and window shades and blinds, without using the extension tube. But , the stiff hose does not stretch and is too short to directly attach the dust brush and reach overhead, to the top of my door frames. Back to the drawing board for me, as the Tritan Canister is just not suitable for my needs.C.B.

I am 69 years old, so believe me when I tell you I have had many vacuum cleaners in my life, from a Kirby to a Miele to the less expensive uprights that just don't last. When I moved and left behind my latest upright as a gift to the buyer of my house, I had to find a new vacuum. One that would last. One that could suck up dog hair from my Australian Shepherd. One that was maneuverable and could also clean my truck's interior. When I saw the ad for the Prolux Triton I was taken by how absolutely cute it is. I love its retro looks, like a 50's space ship with chrome and a sleek shape. I love the design of the retractable cord, its maneuverability and the very very powerful motor. I now have a restored vintage house (circa 1900) which requires a strong machine to eliminate dust. I am very pleased with my Prolux Triton!!Vicki

Do yourself a favour, do not buy this or any other Miele vacuum cleaner. The plastic dust caniste broke on ours, and Miele is now quoting us $216 to send us a replacement. This is literally just a bunch of plastic—there are no electronics or mechanics there. And they want us to pay a third of the price of the whole machine for this stupid plastic canister. Do yourself a favour and buy a different brand. The top quality ones have lifetime warranties, and will end up costing you much less than a Miele in the long run!EMT from Sydney

I bought this 2 months ago. It is fantastic. The vacuum is so powerful, I only use the lowest setting and it is like a breeze. It takes half the effort and half the time and the job is done. It is a lot less noise than I expected. A good machine! The only down side is that it is heavy. Lucky it is easy to move around with wheels.Good

How quiet is this vacuum? I'll tell you. When I first moved into my condo, I was stunned at how well I could hear the vacuums of my downstairs and next-door neighbors, which meant that they would also be disturbed by my noisy vacuum as well. But from upstairs, I never heard a vacuum; all I could hear was an occasional gentle swishing that sounded like somebody was using an old-fashioned carpet sweeper, which I thought was unlikely, as they had a dog who shed a lot. I later became friends with those neighbors and started swapping pet-sitting duties with them when either of us would go out of town. That was when I discovered that the reason I never heard a vacuum from up there was because they owned a Miele canister vacuum. I would often use that Miele to vacuum up their dog's hair so they could come home to clean floors after a long trip, and I came to love that almost silent and easily-maneuverable canister powerhouse. I envied them having that Miele, but at the time, I had only recently (and regretfully) purchased a noisy and annoying upright vacuum, so I couldn't justify investing in a Miele so soon after buying the upright. But it didn't take long for me to lose patience with my vacuum, failing to see the point in its HEPA filter when you have to empty the dust receptacle after every cleaning, which then releases a certain amount of dust right back into the environment. It may seem handy that those types of bagless vacuums have parts that can be dismantled, removed and washed, but the downside is that those parts HAVE to be thoroughly cleaned on a regular basis to maintain their efficacy, which is a dirty, dusty and annoying undertaking. So, I finally chucked the upright and treated myself to this Miele model, and I couldn't be happier. It provides an extremely effective clean and requires no more than removing and disposing of a filled bag and inserting a new bag. Worth every penny!Willabella1023

When I purchased this vacuum, it was the best, most powerful vacuum I have every owned. However, after having only used it 8-10 times, it broke. The floorbrush stopped working. I called Miele and was shocked when they refused to honor their manufacturer warranty because it was not purchased at a Miele store. When I called the Miele store in my area for advice about the vacuum they stated that Miele products do not work well if you have pets. (they even said the pet vacuum they sell does not handle fur either) I was surprised by this but appreciated their honesty. Long story short, if you have pets and/or carpet this is not the vacuum for you. If you think you might ever need help with a part or need the assistance of their customer service dept, this is not the company for you. I sent a complaint to the better business bureau about them and sadly, found myself in good company with numerous other complaints about them. The Better Business Bureau rates them an F. If you like using a canister vacuum or are thinking of getting rid of a heavy upright or other vacuum, then this is the one to purchase if it meets your cleaning needs. I've had other much more expensive Miele canister models in the past with more bells and whistles, but as far as suction goes, every Miele canister vacuum has the same motor. I found this particular Miele model was the lightest and smallest Miele canister vacuum I've used making it extremely easy to operate and store and pull out whenever I need it for even the smallest of messes. I've done a ton of research on many brands and many different Miele models before making this purchase. When choosing the correct Miele canister vacuum it is all about your home and your cleaning needs. This model is perfect for hardwood floors and low-pile to mid-pile carpeting/rugs and everything above the floor. I'm pleasantly surprised how well the air driven turbo carpet nozzle cleans and how easy and light it is to push around on area rugs and wall-to-wall carpeting. Although the turbo nozzle isn't as wide as an electric power nozzle or upright vacuum's cleaning path, the turbo nozzle also has a great benefit of allowing it to reach in tight places like between chairs under beds and in-between many tight places and furniture. I recommend opening the air flow valve on top of the turbo nozzle and setting the motor speed dial on the canister NOT to the highest level when using the turbo nozzle on carpets and rugs. I have a cat and with these settings, the turbo nozzle really does a great job of picking up dirt and cat hair on my carpets & rugs and with minimal pushing and pulling effort on my part. For bare floor cleaning, use the included bare floor tool with the motor speed dial on the canister to the highest level. I find this Miele canister vacuum model is extremely easy to operate and works well if you use the correct settings. It is true that an electric powered carpet nozzle offered on other higher-end more expensive Miele canisters might work better for certain jobs, but with low-pile and mid-pile carpets like the ones I have and living in a relatively small home, this model is perfect choice for us and cleans extremely well. Also keep in mind that Miele models with the electric power nozzle have much heavier hoses, heavier hose handles that are awkward for above the floor cleaning/dusting, heavier carpet nozzles, and heavier wands that make cleaning more difficult because of the weight (especially when cleaning above the floor or carrying the vacuum to multiple floors). You will not have weight issues with this model. The only cons I have for this model is that even though it is a lower-end Miele canister with less bells and whistles than other Miele canister models is that it is still a Miele and it is kind of expensive, however you do get what you pay for and that is quality I can feel with every use and hopefully this quality will last for years (I believe the motor has a 7 year warranty from Miele). Also, the cord could be longer, the bags could be bigger and less expensive (however, I would never go with a bagless vacuum again because of the mess and dust seeping back into the air. Miele bags are of the highest quality), and it would be nice if the tools had a place for storage inside the canister, but this might make the weight of the vacuum heavier so I can easily live without on-board tool storage. Overall, I've tried and owned many other types of vacuums including bagged and bagless uprights / canisters with and without electric power nozzles, stick vacuums, and a central vacuum that was built into a house I once owned. By far, this has been the lightest and easiest to use vacuum I've owned and it far exceeds all of my cleaning needs and the canister is totally sealed locking in all of the dust and allergens (A sealed Miele is really terrific if you have allergies or don't want dust to resettle on your furniture after cleaning). At one time all Miele vacuums were made and assembled in Germany and that always meant great quality. Although this model is assembled in China, parts and design are from Germany. If you have multiple pets, a large home, lots and lots of wall-to-wall carpeting, and carpeting that is shag or high-pile, then this Miele model may not be for you…Rusty B

This is to replace my first upright vacuum (a Dyson). I just never got used to it having decades of canister vacuum experience. The upright had good power and did floors very nicely but I had issues with the pull out extension. I considered other bagless vacuums but because I like the Dyson upright performance I opted to get this new CY18 canister and it is impressive. It has lots of suction and is one of the quietest vacuums I have owned. I can use the tools directly attached to the flexible hose handle which is what I wanted and it follows like a well mannered dog on a leash unlike my last canister was just the opposite and fought me every inch of the way. I vacuumed the whole house as soon as I got it and it's always surprising how much fine dirt these things pick up.g_ldboise

First, I should say that I am the mother of four fur babies, 2 cats and 2 big dogs. Then, when my boyfriend stays over on the weekends, he adds his 2 more dogs (one big and one small) to the mix. Between the 6 animals and my long hair, you can imagine how much hair is on my floors at any given time. For my entire life, growing up at home and after I moved out, I have always used a shop vac with a pool hose and a long metal pole with a brush head; which my dad created. We always hated the awkwardness of upright vacuums and the spinning heads just never worked on hard floors. After buying shop vacs every few years, because they are cheap and the motor blows, I decided to try the Dyson Cinetic Animal Canister. Thankfully, Dyson was offering $100 off; then with my BB&B coupon and cashback credit card bonuses, I ended up getting this thing for the same price as a normal vacuum costs. After one use, I completely fell in love with this machine! There are some flaws, but the good outweighs the bad in my book. Here are a list of pros and cons that I have encountered while using this machine over the past few months. Pros: • Whole-machine HEPA filtration and Certified asthma & allergy friendly! Woo no smells from the expelled air! My boyfriend really appreciates this aspect! He has horrible allergies, especially because of the cats. After purchasing this vacuum, he can breathe so much better at my house! • No filters to wash or buy! • Holy suction Batman! This thing is crazy powerful. • Suction release trigger for when it eats something it shouldn’t, like curtains. • Tangle free turbine tool worked so well that my boyfriend wanted to vacuum the cats with it! Don’t worry, I didn’t let him. This think works wonders on the carpeted cat-stle (what I call the cat castle or cat tree). • Long wand for hard to reach places. • Everything detaches so easily and the tools fit anywhere on the hose or wand. This makes it so simple to go from top to bottom, vacuuming everything in the room. I can do the ceilings, vents, fans, curtains, windows, base boards and floors! • 21.3 ft power cord and automatic rewind…amazing. • Light weight (because you are only having to lift the wand and attachments, not the entire machine. • Can get under furniture and those hard to reach places…like the ceiling! Good luck trying to get your upright vacuum on the ceiling….or the fans. • I don’t have carpet, and I don’t know who in their right mind would have carpet with animals, but the vacuum worked just fine on my low pile rugs. • Some people say that this thing is awkward to pull around because it is a canister. While that is probably true for someone who typically uses an upright, it is way better than the shop vacs that I have had. I don’t find this thing awkward at all, but I am use to pulling behind a canister. Cons: • Canister waaaaaay to small. To give you an idea, I vacuumed my 1400sq ft home, with one weeks worth of hair and needed to empty the bin 5 times. I wish it was bigger and held more. To combat this, I take my big janitor mop (the ones they use in schools), push it around the house for literally a minute. Then I vacuum. This allows me to pick up the hair and big debris (because my dogs have these big plastic bones that they chew) all at once so that I only have to empty the vacuum once. My boyfriend thinks that a vacuum that is so expensive should require no prep work, but I honestly did this with my shop vac too. It makes vacuuming so much easier and quicker. • Emptying the bin is not as simple as they make you believe. Yes, you push the button, but the door swings down and hangs in the way. The dirt gets all over the hanging door. Then you have to use the provided tool to unstick the hair from the sides of the canister, while the door flaps in your way. The instructions say to minimize dust/allergen contact, encase the bin tightly in a plastic bag. Well this doesn’t work because the above happens. I found the easiest way to empty the bin is to go outside to my large garbage can. • The combination tool is a horrible design. Instead of being two pieces, the small brush slides up and down on the thin wand. I wish the small brush was detachable, because when I use the thin wand to get in cracks (like between the couch cushions), the brush is in the way and the bristles get destroyed. • The wheels on the bottom of the canister roll ok, but for the ridiculous price of the machine, they suck. They should have used the same material as you would find on rollerblade wheels. • Instead of being power controlled, the rotating head rotates due to the suction. I wish there was a way to lock the head in place so that it does not rotate. It sucks up cat litter with no problem, but sometimes, it flings a few pieces out. I typically just detach the head and just use the suction. I think I might buy the alternate head that doesn’t spin. • I found the attachment storage to be random and awkward. Ok I broke down and purchased a Dyson after reading many positive reviews but to be honest this vacuum has not won me over in the last 9 months. The suction is adequate but I am not impressed with the turbo brush on carpets. I have hardwood floors with area rugs in most rooms and the articulating hard floor tool is excellent and mandatory for cleaning in my estimation. The cord is a good length and the tools are well designed and work well. I have to empty the bin once or twice while cleaning 1400 sq. foot home. I have come to dislike emptying the bin. The dirt and dust seems to cling to the bin like there is an electrostatic charge on the plastic and I have to use a paintbrush to get it moderately clean or wash it the sink to get it really clean. After a lifetime of using a bagged vacuum where you just change a bag I fear this bag-less vacuum is just not my cup of tea. I only wished I brought this back in the return timeframe and selected another brand/machine!Telrandy

While visiting the Oreck store for bags we saw the Ultimate and for some unknown reason decided to trade our Oreck Compact Canister for the Ultimate. Probably because it looked more stylish. Any advantage over the compact ends there. What a mistake we made. The hose is awkward to use. There is not as much suction flower. The on/off switch is not convenient to operate. The unit is top heavy and easily tips over. The shoulder strap is too short. In short…..there is nothing to recommend this product. Buy the boxy utilitarian looking Compact Canister. We wish we still had our old Compact Canister.brian

How cute is this thing. There are a lot of things that I love about this hand held vacuum. First it's super lightweight which makes it easy to get around without having to drag anything. It fits comfortably on my shoulder and the strap makes it even better. Second it's compact. It's not big and bulky pretty much freeing me up again to move around freely and get the cleaning done. It has all the pieces that a regular vacuum have without the bulk and weight. Third thing I like is that the cord is nice and long. I've had hand helds or light weight vacuum cleaners and for whatever reason they make the cords short. That kind of defeats the purpose of being able to walk around conveniently. This cord is 20 feet long and it's sturdy and heavy duty so you don't have worry about it threading. The handheld is super easy to put together once you get it out of the box. Just attach the hose. Clip on the shoulder strap, pick your attachment, plug it in and your off. I use it for my ceiling fan. Having the the hose of the vacuum cleaner right at elbows length makes it very easy to clean high places. I can't really describe it in words but, it's just creates a more natural movement and bend of my arm and hand with it right next to me as opposed to bringing the hose from a vacuum that on the floor and pulling it up. It also makes it easy to clean the top part of the kitchen cabinets, the corners of the walls that may have spiderwebs, the upper part of the window pane and smaller tight places like closets, cabinets and behind furniture. The suction is pretty powerful. I find that is the case with Oreck vacuums in general. I recommend it if you want to move around and clean easily without having to drag the vacuum around and also if you're looking for more flexibility and movement of your arms while you clean that a bulky vacuum or even the smaller handhelds that don't allow for attachments.Rain

This is the only vacuum that picks up my dog’s hair on the first pass. We have a Dalmatian with all the short white hairs. Vac is quiet. Half as loud as my prior upright Oreck. Vac is also appropriately sized and rolls well enough; wheels could be a little smoother. I appreciate that I can store it flat or tipped standing up in my closet. Customer service was excellent and responded quickly- videos are helpful and when I still had questions they helped immediately via email. Nice that this vacuum seems sturdy and has some metal parts. Agree w others that it is hard to detach the power carpet head in order to put the bare floor attachment on. It is a very snug detach. Sometimes I just turn the power head off and vacuum all surfaces that way. The different suction levels are appreciated for all the little kitchen rugs and works well for different pile heights of my larger 8’x10’ rugs. I vacuum very frequently due to the dog hair and this has solved my area rug and bare floor needs. Appreciate the extra hidden tools that were included under the ‘hatch. I ordered extra bags separately; I couldn’t tell in advertising info if vac came with any/or how many. Vac arrived in lge box, well packed and protected, with instruction sheet and video links. 😊 Vac came with one bag installed already plus an extra. And HEPA filter already installed of course. I’ve done a lot of research and shopping looking for a vacuum that could keep up with my 3300 square-foot house and my never ending shedding fur babies. I’ve had at least four, across 3 well known brands, none of which stood up to the test. I came across this particular vacuum ( Prolux TerraVac ) and said OK I’ll try this. WOW, not only was I able to vacuum in half the time, it also picked up all of the pet hair under the coffee table and dining room table. I am so pleased and amazed with the features that this vacuum comes with. The versatility of this vacuum is amazing. The suction power is awesome – I love the fact that I’m able to move from carpet to hardwood without bending down and changing the settings. I simply just press the button on the sweeper with my foot and that’s it. The attachment for pet hair (OMG) Is like no other. I was able to do two flights of stairs in under five minutes. Normally it would take me 10 to 20 minutes. I will also mention how quiet it is. Compared to the other vacuums that are out there this vacuum is quiet. I am happy to say I am very pleased with his vacuum. If you tried many vacuums to no avail give this one a try you won’t regret it.Henry78

This is my second Prolux vacuum and a disappointment. First, to sing its praises, it has great suction and attacks any and all dust bunnies and dog hair, which is what you want in a quality vacuum. BUT, the attachments are extremely difficult to trade out. It's a struggle changing them. Even my husband, who has a lot more arm muscle, has difficultly. The hose, admittedly on the shorter side, is very "stiff" making maneuvering the vacuum a struggle. Vacuuming has never been a favorite pastime so whatever can make it easier is welcome. I now find myself doing a double groan when it's time to use it. I've actually thought of exploring a hose replacement but maybe it comes down to finding another vacuum (only purchased this past fall!)L.U.

I love canister vacuums so this is why I chose this model. I only have two oriental area rugs and the rest of my house is hardwood. This machine cleans both-You simply manually switch on the foot of the floor nozzle. Things I love: The filter system makes your house smell great! The suction is very powerful and there is a way to reduce it on the handle As you are vacuuming or on the canister in advance. The easy emptying dirt tank. Easy to rinse filters. Super long RETRACTABLE power cord. The handle has an ATTACHED dusting brush. Metal, very long extension wand. Things that would be nice: less heavy canister; a more detailed instruction booklet ( I figured out On my own I could reduce suction on the handle, And no explanation on how often you rinse filters). An on off switch on handle would be a great addition! Also my handle does not click into the extension wand as described in the user guide. I assume this is to make it easier to switch to dusting.Gail

I love the power of this vacuum and the extended wand. We have 10ft. ceilings and it helps get cobwebs. However, the cheap lightweight head is frustrating to use. The wand clip that allows you to adjust the reach broke after 6 months. I long for the days of the metal vacuums with heavy rubber head with brush!MamaTaxi59

Let me start this review by saying that I have purchased and used a lot of vacuums in my day. For the last couple of years I’ve been using the Shark Vertex Powered lift away. I love that machine, but still missed having a canister. I had been seeing the Shark Canister Pet vacuum advertised on line and a couple days ago decided to purchase, and I’m so glad I did. The first thing I noticed when trying it out for the first time was how powerful it is. The suction power is unbelievable. I also love that it has 3 speeds of suction power. The beater brush has two speeds. Low and high. High is recommended for carpet while low is recommended for hardwood floors. The power head has fins mixed with bristles and does an excellent job at removing dust and dirt from floors. My favorite thing about this vacuum is how lightweight it is. I literally can pick the canister up by its handle with one finger. The controls for this vacuum are conveniently located on the handle. This particular canister vacuum comes with two attachments. A decent sized crevice tool and a nice upholstery tool. The power head comes with the unit as well. I tried my attachments from my vertex lift away and they fit and work with the canister! The canister glides on 4 caster wheels and moves great. It also has a 25 ft retractable cord. The Shark Canister Pet is a high quality vacuum that’s lightweight and easy to maneuver. I give this vacuum an A+! In my humble opinion Shark makes the best household vacuums on the market today! I truly love all three of my Shark vacuums, and wouldn’t want any other vacuum! This is my first canister vacuum. I can't say how it compares to other canisters but it's an amazing vacuum. This vacuum has incredible suction. Far better suction than any other vacuum I have owned. I am actually quite shocked at how much this can pick up. I have cats so I needed a good vacuum to pick up all of the hair in my home. It has easy to use buttons on the handle for changing the suction level or cleaning modes. The MultiFLEX is a great addition and allows for easy cleaning under furniture. The no hair wrap brushroll is a lifesaver! I hated having to cut hair from the roller on my other vacuums. I get so much hair caught on those and this one never gets hair stuck on it. It's easy to empty and holds more than my other vacuums so I can make less trips to empty it. The wand is extremely long and can reach further than any other wand I have used, making it great for getting up high near ceilings. The attachments work well for crevices and removing pet hair from furniture. There are super bright LED lights so I can see if I am missing anything while I vacuum. This can be used with the canister wheeled on the ground or carried. It is lightweight and easy to carry up stairs or around furniture. The wheels work well to pull across the floor as well. It isn't as maneuverable as a standard upright and works best in open spaces unless the canister is being carried. It's just what comes with using a canister compared to an upright. The retracting cord is a huge improvement over having a cord that needs wound up after use. Overall, I am thrilled with this vacuum. It cleans incredibly well and is so easy to use.thisgirl00

I have been using this shark bagless pet pro canister vacuum for some time now. With 3 pets who shed nonstop I'm always in the market for the greatest and newest vacuums available to help me keep the hair down and the allergies away. The vacuum has a great section not just using the hand tools but also in the floor roller itself. As someone with long hair one of my greatest battles is trying to get mine off the roller using my old vacuums didn't matter style or brand. This bagless canister vacuum also comes equipped with self cleaning paddles leaving me more time to get other things accomplished. Let's just say I was astonished at how much was pulled from my rugs when I regularly vacuum weekly sometimes 2 to 3 times. One of the better features that I've seen on it that's not mentioned is it actually runs more quiet than other vacuums I have used. The hand tools are great the only thing that I seem to have an issue with is the awkward positioning of the tubing maybe if it was a bit thinner a bit longer it would be easier but sometimes when you're walking around it'll flip the vacuum itself and turn itself off because it has 2 different ways to power it on and off. I do appreciate the actual hand tool or hand grip having its own power button and also button and also being able to choose from the hand tool whether it's hardwood floors or carpeting forces having to use a foot to change the setting. I definitely recommend if you have pets pets with short hair long hair or if you're like me have super long hair.AshleyC.

My husband and I are tall people, I absolutely love the fact that this canister vacuum has a long nozzle where I don't feel like I'm leaning over too much to vacuum the floor. It's very quiet, you can still have a conversation with it running. The turbo suction is no joke, be careful it'll eat your rug easily, learned there are different settings for the suction amount! Love that the floor head is much larger than the other leading brands. I also have allergies, so this HEPA filtration system is a a bonus to help keep our inside air clean. My only suggestion for future models is to have an option for on/off switch to be on the handle too. You always have to use the foot switch for operation, for older folks it's a long of bending down for operation. Overall so glad we invested the money to get this great vacuum!Faith D

Pros: This is a great vacuum cleaner, I needed a replacement for my previous Vax cleaner – for hoovering out the garage and our cars. The VAX was great but after seven years it was falling apart. I have previously purchased some cheaper cyclone type hoovers which turned out to be useless. So I went for a Miele this time even though it is a bagged type vacuum cleaner, decision based on the quality of the brand and that Curry’s PC World were doing a really cheap deal on this model. It’s very powerful on maximum setting and it does a great cleaning job on the cars. The three wheels on the bottom make moving the vacuum cleaner around the garage easy. The cable return spring is really powerful, far better than any other hoover I’ve had. This cleaner is an all round high quality item. Cons: It’s a fantastic quality hoover and really powerful, however I find that the hose quite often can hit the on off button and that is enough to switch the device off. The button needs to be a little bit stiffer in operation I think.Colin

I have owned one for 17 years and it has been the best cleaning tool I have ever owned. I have used it in so many cleaning scenarios including vacuuming up major ant infestations many times. I have used it up high on ladders which makes the strap very handy, and when I broke the cord (my fault), I liked it so much that I had it repaired with a new one. It has way better suction than any modern handheld vacuum, and the extra long cord is very helpful as well. This is the vacuum for cleaning warriors like me !!Eradicator

I love this little canister vacuum. I use it for so many jobs around the house that I used to avoid doing. It is great to clean my car, plus I love using it on the steps in my house. The strap is great and the canister is so light. I clean the corners of ceilings to get cobwebs, vent covers, and my window sills. It is a great little vacuum for odd jobs around the house.Joey

my mother has one she bought from a professional vacuum store and it worked great actually beyond great it was awesome. so much I went to amazon to see if they sold it and yes they did. I had it in just a few days. well to my surprise it was not the same product. JUST the hose part is different everything else is the same. the hose that was sent to me is a very hard plastic hose which makes it hard to maneuver. i was not happy that they changed the hose to this new hard plastic. This thing is great i had an older Kenmore model and it worked well for 8 years which i bought used and banged up. This one is way quiter moves easily making it seem lighter. The only problem i found was when my wife sucked a sock and it needed to be reset. The red button was broken so i opened it and reset from the inside. A little scratches.reconxlr

For five years my Kenmore top of the line vacuum did a great job but three months after the five year extended warranty ended it was beyond repair. I bought several cheep vacuums and they were a waste of money-all of them. So I did my research and I swallowed my pride and bought this model and it is not as expensive as the 1st one but it is a solid machine that does what I need and my leftover HEPA filters I stored work on this machine cleaning all the dust and doggy hair and dandruff so no one knows we have a dog in our house. This machine has fewer parts but it is a better machine, for example it maneuvers around the floor cleaning corners without needing to change tools. Also, it has a feature that automatically redirects suction whenever the floor cleaner gets blocked with a rug or other cloth etc,. This is a damn good machine if you have Asthma like I do. Only positive is that it is quiet. The cannister although lightweight does not maneuver easily, Cheap plastic parts are not easily separated. Wand dented upon first use. Waste container is small and a nightmare to empty. Floorhead does not stand on its own, only stands when attached to the cannister. Cord has to be pulled out entire length to operate so many feet of cord dragging around. Needs a lot of storage room because hose is stiff and creates a large arc around the vacuum. Little rough strips are stuck on attachments. One fell off the first time I used it. Very disappointing for an expensive vacuum.Leigh

I purchased this because I have not been really happy with the hand vacuums I have had in the past. This one is not quite as handy as a hand vacuum, but it is light and, since it is not dependant on a battery, it has very strong suction and can run all day. I do have to take a minute to hook up the hose and attachments, but it is worth it. Light weight and easier to use than a regular vacuum for jobs that I would normally use a hand vacuum for. You will want to keep the box or get a plastic storage container for it because, for portability sake, it doesn't have any place to keep the attachments on the device itself like an upright vacuum.ROGER

I have two Mighty Mites. I like that it rolls easy due to its light weight. The long arm makes vacuuming fast and easy on the back. The cord is easy to wrap and store. I have wood floors and this is cleans so much better than sweeping/dust mopping. Good suction. Easy to use on the stairs, corners, air vents, upholstered furniture. When I empty & organize my "junk" drawer, I vacuum it. Also, I use it to clean my car's interior. I gave it only 4 stars because the quality of plastic this is now made of is cheap. This is my third Mighty Mite and my old ones were made of a sturdier plastic that withstood heavy use, even falling down stairs by accident. But this new plastic will crack easily and I'm not reckless with my vacuums either.jilradek

I bought the product not too long ago and it fits my needs completely. It's super light to carry and intuitive to use. Absolutely not so loud, way better than the older one I had. Since it's quite new, I still didn't need to change the dust bag. But all in all, great product.mari_roncalli

I have always preferred a cylinder type vacuum cleaner and the James is a great example. It’s lightweight makes it great for taking up and downstairs and it moves with great ease, these were essential factors when I came to choosing my purchase. It’s cable length makes it only necessary to use one socket. It’s fairly quiet, has great suction, useful tool attachments and I generally think it’s great value for what it offers. The only thing it doesn’t have is a retractable cable facility but the cable can still be neatly rewound and the whole unit stores away neatly enough.Sarah

James is very powerful , I am using it to replace Dyson Robot vacuum which takes long time for charge, however, work for half an hour then stop; In addition, my another vacuum with £50 and less powerful to clean my carpet appropriately. I've had Henry vacuum cleaners and been happy with them. I've had other makes too and been less than happy. I need something to suck up spilled cat litter, bits of parrot seed, the odd dog biscuit and more. The Numatic family seem to be the only ones which can do it cheaply, and reliably and last for years and years. So, I've had building work done on my home and decided to treat myself to a new vacuum cleaner, retiring my current 10 year old Henry to upstairs, for an easier life. I'm very happy with the new one. Coped well with brick dust, bits of brick, plasterboard chips, the odd nail as well as the general household stuff. There's a reason cleaning companies use Numatic vacuum cleaners and not that overpriced thing called a 'die-soon'(aptly named because they have a meltdown and die if asked to suck up anything bigger than a speck of dust). I can buy 5 Numatic vacuum cleaners for the price of one Die-soon. I got a lot of vacuum cleaner for not a lot of money, but then I've always had more sense than money 🙂whitevangran870

Did not know it also has a rotary control on the top that lets you adjust the motor speed and suction power. On the lowest setting it pulls more than enough. The unit's compact size is also a plus. I bought this machine a few weeks ago to replace a Miele' Cat and Dog' vacuum cleaner I had for years. I only use a larger vacuum cleaner to vacuum once per week to do the while house, then I use my hand held vacuum for interim maintenance ! I just wanted just a good workhorse with few frills. I also don't have pets so and my children are older and less messy so thought I didn't need the more expensive version again Unfortunately this cleaner is too heavy for me to easily use. When hoovering carpets the forward motion is fine but it is very difficult to pull the head back towards you except when the machine is in the lowest suction setting – which then doesn't then pick up everything from the carpets. It is easy to use on wood and tile floors – but since most of my house is carpeted that is a problem. I asked my 22 year old rugby playing son to vacume our house and he described the activity as 'having a good workout'!Siobhan

I bought this to replace an older model that had worked well for many years but the motor had failed. The plus points are the price and the light weight. But in other respects it is a poor replacement for its predecessor. I found the connectors for joining the various bits together do not glide smoothly, so it is all quite stiff and difficult to put together and take apart. It was so stiff that I only realised that the suction tube was telescopic when I read it in the instruction manual. Luckily parts were interchangeable with my old model so I've switched back using parts from my original which has given me more flexibility. Also, on both this model and another model I tried, the suction on the main floor attachment is so strong that it is really hard to push across carpets, even on low settings. The final thing is that the attachments do not store neatly in the body of the cleaner but are stored separately so the whole thing is a lot messier to store and more complicated to carry around. It generally has a bit of a cheap plastic sort of feel to it.Deedee5

Perfect vacuum cleaner, easy and light to move around. It is a bit bulky and the length of the plug could be a bit longer, but I am still very happy with it overall. My previous vacuum (different brand) was much more expensive and was difficult/tiring to manoeuvre. I have added a "Turbo Dust Interceptor" (dust is diverted into a tube for easy disposal and saves space in the bag) and it works perfectly well!Paige
