I started using a really expensive cosmetic castor oil product to grow fuller eyebrows. I know you are supposed to give a product about 2-3 months to work because of the eyebrow growth cycle, but about a month in I decided to try this product. The other product came with an agitator brush to stimulate brow growth so I use the brush with this product as well. I like the other brand too, but I will switch to this one for eyebrows. The applicator on this product is better than the other brand. I also use this product overnight on my lashes, and my lashes seem plumper under my mascara the next day. When I get dry ends from styling tools, I use a little bit of this product and massage it into the ends. A little goes a long way, and if you use just enough your ends will get soft without being greasy. I've used plain thick castor oil from a dropper bottle for my hair before, so this applicator bottle was wayyyyy easier and less messy. Plus this formula is thinner so it spread really well. The smell is very herbal and reminds me of a spa, but definitely read the ingredients because it might not be for everyone. Very weak, I was expecting a higher concentration since it say's 100% peppermint oil. I used other 100% extracts before and I know how intense they are supposed to be. This one is already diluted from 100% oil to directly apply to hair (you wouldn't be able to walk around with the concentrate one as it truly burns your skin). It smells lovely and I hope that it improves hair growth, but it makes hair very oily and look heavy and greasy, so I suggest keeping it in overnight and wearing a cap to not stain the pillow then showering it out, or using it as a leave-in treatment for a few hours before washing hair before bed. I haven't used it enough to tell if there has been any benefits, and it's because the oil smells bad, almost like an ashtray that's been sitting in an old car. It's not a strong smell, but I'm really averse to smells of cigarette smoke and ash. Love this product. I have always had lash extensions, and for the last 3-4 years had them continuously. So when the pandemic hit and all the salons were closed, I finally gave my lashes a break and really noticed how short and brittle they looked. This product has definitely helped make my lashes grow longer, darker and somewhat thicker. I also use it on my eyebrows, but i haven’t noticed any new hair growth yet. Would definitely recomment this product to anyone that would like to lengthen their natural lashes. I will still continue to use this and try to get my lashes as long as I would like them too. I like Shiny leaf Castor oil, not only for the purity of the product, but for the ease of use. Included with each bottle is a mascara wand for ease of application to use on the eyelashes. I use it 2ce daily on my lashes and along the ends of the eyebrows which have disappeared over time. Honestly, if I could give it a zero star I would. So the reason for the low rating is simply because the product that was sent to me was expired. It expired 3/1/19 and I received this product on 5/8/2020, a whole year and two months of expiration. I used the product just once because I still hadn't seen the expiration date on the bottle so I used it (I literally just saw the expiration date about two days ago). It had a horrible smell and when I put it in my scalp it gave me a burning sensation and it left my scalp itchy, even after washing my hair three times that day. My hair is STILL itchy even after washing my hair every day. You would think I wouldn't have used the product because of the horrible smell but I had never used castor oil before so I genuinely thought that that was the natural smell of the oil. If you want to buy castor oil I highly suggest to just buy it in person at a store and make sure it's not expired. I'm still trying to figure out how to get a refund but I accidentally threw away the receipt that was in the package. The only positive thing that I can write is that the package arrived earlier than expected; it was suppose to get here Monday 5/11/2020 but it arrived Friday 5/8/2020. But it was a very expired product so the fact that it got here early goes out the window. Again, please buy your oil in person at a store or if you DO decide to order it, don't throw away the receipt before you're sure it's not an expired product. Take care ya'll.Perez
I am truly a fan of this product! The uses for this product are endless when it comes to giving your body a bit of TCL. The consistency is super thick so I highly recommend using a carrier oil. I use Tropic Isle Living Jamaican Black Castor Oil for almost all of my DIY products from my whipped moisturizer down to my scalp oil. However I hadn’t considered using this product on my lashes. I bought this because the right side of my hair is thinning out and has been like that for many years. Not sure why, I stopped wearing tight ponytails, stopped wearing cotton scarfs, did less manipulative styles and none of that seemed to help. I have heard good reviews about JBC via youtube and decided to try it. I've been using this for a few months now and yesterday I saw promising results. Granted I stopped using it everyday, in the morning and at night as instructed only because my scalp has never done well with product directly on it, I would tend to get buildup and sores. So I opted to using it once on wash day and mid week when I refreshed my style. So far I like what I see. Although I don't feel the "fullness" it promises. This castor oil is a must for someone trying to repair their edges!! I have been suffering with hair loss around my forehead and temples. I actually developed a bald spot and no longer felt comfortable wearing my hair back because of it. I have seen amazing results with this oil. I mix a few drops of it with my face moisturizer and apply around my hairline before bed every night. I have significant new growth to the point the bald spot is almost gone. This stuff really works. I absolutely LOVE this oil! Theres so many different ways to use this product and for the $10 price point it lasts a long time. I usually only use 1-2 pumps max and since this is a thicker oil a little goes a long way. You can add this oil to your conditioner or hair mask for that added moisture or add it to your lotion or moisturizer. For the past 2 weeks every night i will use 1 pump to my ring finger warm it up a little between my fingers and put this right under my eyes then put my eye cream on top. I bought this years ago to try out the oil cleansing method. I did end up using and liking OCM, but I didn't really see an advantage to jojoba oil over almond oil, so I went for almond oil because it's cheaper. For my OCM I used 2/3-3/4 almond oil, 1/3-1/4 castor oil, and a generous amount of tea tree oil. I have combination skin, and I tend to break out. I never had luck steaming the oil off of my face with towels soaked in hot water, nor did it just magically soak into my skin as it did for someone else out there. Personally, I ended up rubbing the oil onto my face, then washing it off with natural soap. Then my face got good and deep-cleaned. I tend to use OCM in the summer, when I'm a sweaty greasy mess. In the winter I just rinse my face with water in the morning, and use natural soap when I shower. When I do OCM, I can feel the oil pulling the oil and dirt out of my pores and getting everything really clean, without drying me out. (The oil starts off thicker, then thins out as it mixes with the oil from my face.) I never tried jojoba oil for other things, although I've been thinking of trying it again in homemade lotions/body butters. The nice thing about jojoba is that it doesn't go rancid as fast as other oils. By the way, I highly recommend buying small amounts of oils in the beginning, because you don't know what you'll end up using and liking. 4 oz is plenty for OCM, and will let you play around with a lot of other recipes as well (it's a good idea to try half recipes until you find what works for you). It's a shame to waste ingredients or having them sitting around unused until they go rancid. First figure out exactly what works best for you, then buy that in the quantities that you see that you'll use. Almond oil is very thin. Jojoba oil is definitely thicker. Castor oil is super thick and almost sticky. I think that Now has castor oil as well, probably for cheaper. I don't know that Aura Cacia is any better. A friend told me that she rubs castor oil on her kids' chests when they're congested and coughing. I tried it a few times. Maybe it helped, I'm not sure.iHerb Customer
It was my first time to deal with iherb when I bought this castor oil! I got my shipment arrived in just few days! The packaging was amazing! The scent is acceptable and it’s a very high quality oil. This oil is viscous but very beneficial, I use it for my eyebrows as they’re very light and it helped me a bit fast in getting them heavier! This product offers great value for the price I bought it for. I've used it on my eyelashes, my face, my nails, and my body. The stickiness is a texture I've gotten used to, and I find that if I cut it with another product, it's not so thick and sticky. It smells almost peppery, like you'd imagine a castor seed scent to be. The quality is fantastic and I will buy over and over again once I run out.
