I always love ion products for coloring and toning my hair after bleaching, and this aftercare shampoo and conditioner line proved to be the same.. almost. The shampoo I found worked very well to keep my color bright and non brassy, but it left my hair so dry, even with the conditioner after. I started to mix some of the shampoo in with my Loreal Dream Lengths shampoo and it helped a lot. The conditioner is great for my hair all over, non greasy, conditions well, smells great. But because I'm working on healing my hair in certain areas I ended up using the Ion conditioner on my roots, top of my head to about midway down, where I would add the Loreal Dream Lengths conditioner, which as I state in my review of that Loreal conditioner, it leaves my roots and upper head hair greasy but perfectly midway down to my roots, so it's actually a perfect mix for me. I would use the Ion conditioner all over with not one issue, and sometimes do, but am still working to repair my ends. Overall great product line from Ion. I use Arctic fox hair color to keep my hair. A vibrant mixture of purple and red. Red is a notoriously difficult color to keep in your hair because of its molecular size compared to other colors. It doesn't lock into the cuticle as quickly and this product helps with that. I not only use it right after coloring my hair, I also use it beyond that. Rather than washing my hair every single day which would strip the color right out of it, I rinse my hair and then condition it with this product. Stop changing the formula! It seems like every time I’ve bought this the past year, the formula is different. I loved this shampoo (and the conditioner) for years, but this past year it’s a crapshoot as to how much they’ve changed the formula. The latest – similar to the situation I found last spring – dries out your hair, it doesn’t lather and my hair feels like straw when I use it. Out of curiosity, my husband and I went through and compared the ingredients from one bottle to the next and discovered 7 missing ingredients. I fell in love with this right away, paired with the Glossifying Shampoo after a fresh trim. Used with the brush dryer, you'll see smooth, sleek shine. I followed up with the plant serum in the green bottle & the straightening lotion & some mousse. This changed the entire look of my hair which was frizzy and dull, and turned it into straight, glossy (but not oily or greasy) and nicely set. Only problem I find is after several washings, my hair seemed to "get used to it"and it wasn't detangling as much as in the beginning. My first experience with L'ANZA products was when I received a sample. My hair is very thin and fine, so I'm always looking for products that give it more body. I loved the sample and immediately ordered the thickening shampoo and thickening conditioner when I saw that they were an option. I can't say that the thickening was much different from the samples that I had tried. However, these products do not weigh my hair down and do leave my hair shiny with no loss of color fading. I really like this. For me the smell lasts a while and it does a good job of clarifying my scalp. It smells great and it does what it says it’s going to do. My only issue is that it takes a while to rinse out. My hair feels a certain way after rinsing for what I would say is my “normal” rinsing time. I probably rinse an extra 30 seconds to a minute more than usual. But that’s okay with me because I don’t use this daily so to me it’s not a giant issue. But it might be for others. I came across this shampoo at a Tj Maxx and once I read the back I knew I had to take it home with me. It seemed very promising as far as detoxing the hair from product buildup. The lather is great and the smell is as well BUT even though I used conditioner afterwards my hair was stiff and hard as a board. It not only removed the product buildup but it completely stripped my hair color. I was shocked when I looked in the mirror only to see that I no longer had any dye and my grey hair made it seem as if I hadn’t dyed my hair in months. I purchased the product to cut the buildup in my hair. I've tried other clarifying shampoos that work pretty good but this product goes above and beyond. My hair is bouncy again and surprisingly my color is MORE vibrant after using it. I use Redken "blondage" shampoo a couple times per week to keep my blonde hair from getting brassy and it works fantastic! I think bouncing between shampoos really "mucks up" my hair. Not for every day in my opinion. This is a cream but still pretty harsh, especially for dry, fine hair such as mine. I use this every few months to get any residue out from left-over product. I honestly use the shampoo and conditioner everyday. I bought a leave in conditioner- that also doesn’t have any silicones- and it’s all amazing. My hair has never been more thoroughly clean and moisturized. I ran out of this one day and had to get a trim that morning. I used some cheap shampoo and conditioner that I had under my sink. I've been struggling to find a gentle shampoo that actually cleans my hair and then I found this! It may be clarifying if you have dry hair that doesn't need daily washing, but my fine oily hair needs this daily. This has a great amount of protein for me and the coconut oil helps prevent protein loss from daily washing. Using the matching conditioner is too much protein for me daily so I alternate it with a protein free conditioner. I picked up this shampoo because I live in an apartment and my shower has a lot of hard water and minerals that come from the pipes. I was very hopeful this shampoo would help to remove all that mineral and hard water buildup, which it did. however if you are going to use this, use a moisturizing mask afterwards because this will dry out your hair and make it tangly and unmanageable. Also only use this 1-2x monthly to avoid severely dehydrating your hair. This is an inexpensive product compared to other hard water or detox shampoos, but i have noticed the pricier options hydrate your hair a bit more while washing with them. I am not sure if this specific formula has been discontinued. I really liked this formula, and never had any issues with hair loss or scalp irritation. I have oily and fine hair, and use dry shampoo daily to extend the amount of time in between washes( 3rd or 4th day). By the time hair wash day comes around, the amount of product build up is unreal, but somehow this shampoo manages to remove all of the build up. When using this shampoo after a while, I did t have to use as much dry shampoo, and extend the time in between washes to every 5 days.susanne.j

It worked okay but dried my hair out really bad until I decided to buy this. This shampoo left my hair SUPER shiny. My hair hasn’t had a bit of shine to it in almost 7 years. Okay first and foremost, this stuff smells terrible. The scent is incredibly strong and clings to my hair when used. It does admittedly work well at clarifying hair. I used this twice a month for about a year and other than the smell, I had no real complaints. In fact, it made my hair have tons of volume. However, I feel like it should be pointed out that this product does contain Dmdm Hydantoin. This ingredient is pretty controversial at the moment in relation to hair loss. As someone suffering from telogen effluvium due to covid I don't want to take any chances on more hair loss. If they got rid of that ingredient and toned down the smell, I would absolutely go back to using this. For now though, I will have to find a different clarifying shampoo.britt

where have you been my entire life? I have very thick course hair and I love it long. I also have a lot of gray in my roots so it gets wiry, and lets not omit the part where I insist my hairstylist texturized and razors my hair (she fights me every single time) for layers and thinning purposes. I was so excited to try the new Olaplex No.4C Bond Maintenance Clarifying Shampoo and was not disappointed! I start off by applying weekly in place of my regular shampoo to my wet hair at the scalp working to ends, working it into a lather, letting it sit for around 5 minutes to fully penetrate and process, rinse and follow with conditioner. I'm convinced this scrub is the best thing Noughty has produced. I used their entire curly hair range a few years ago but ultimately switched back to a different brand as I was struggling with scalp buildup and itchiness. However when I saw that Noughty had released this exfoliating scalp scrub, I knew I had to give it a go. The smell is really nice, very clean and herbal, and whilst it definitely does exfoliate, it does not feel abrasive or harsh on the scalp. I've been using it in combination with Noughty's volume boosting range as my scalp is naturally quite oily and does not like heavy products. I had really bad product build up from a shampoo I used a few months ago. I tried absolutely everything to get rid of this, including incredibly strong clarifying shampoos with sulphates etc, and NOTHING was working. My hair was waxy and greasy all over and it was in terrible condition. I have used Noughty products before, including this one, but I assumed that this would be too gentle to reverse the severe amount of damage done to my hair. However, after trying literally every other route, I was at the end of my tether and thought why not give this a go? With not much hope I bought a bottle, and oh my goodness. After one wash, the build up was reduced significantly, and my hair looked less like someone had rubbed candle wax in it. I almost cried tears of joy. I feel I should mention I am not someone who pays much attention to my hair (I just use generic shampoo and conditioner, brush it daily, and not much else) so I may not be the best person to take hair advice from, but I'm also never inclined to leave reviews so the fact I'm leaving one demonstrates how much I love this shampoo. My shampoo has to smell good! I fell in love with this shampoo right away from the amazing smell it had. If I had to choose a smell for my shampoo this would be it. I could describe it as that fresh salon smell… but better. I always wash my hair twice and especially with clarifying shampoo, but I dont think I would have to with this shampoo because it feels clean after the first time. My experience with past clarifying shampoo that I have used was that it left my hair feeling very dry and stiff like. So that was my worry with this stuff. After blow drying I was quickly surprised by how soft my hair was. It felt great. I have purple hair and most of the time I keep my hair purple. Clarifying shampoo tends to strip color from my hair. I have used this shampoo several times and have yet to see that happen. I must say I really liked this shampoo and will be buying it in the future. I believe anyone could benefit from this shampoo as well. Colored or non colored, dry hair, thin or thick. I think it's a well rounded product and everyone should give it a try. I hopped in the shower and squeezed a fairly generous amount of shampoo into my hand. I have long, fine hair which I wash daily as it is prone to becoming oily. As soon as I started massaging my scalp, I noticed a few of things: Firstly, the lather is VERY rich. My hair was literally puffing up and volumizing in the shower as I massaged. I don't know that I've ever had an experience quite like this with any shampoo I've used previously. Secondly, I was very surprised that this shampoo had a soft, botanical scent. I didn't SMELL ginger or charcoal (however one might expect charcoal to smell). Thirdly, I felt something happening to my scalp almost immediately. I want to call it a tingle, but it wasn't quite a tingle. My scalp felt tighter. I guess the only way to describe it would be to say I felt something WORKING. When you use a shampoo regularly, it can cause buildup you don't even take notice of until you switch to something else. I could actually feel this shampoo clarifying my hair. That sometimes slippery feeling left behind after using regular shampoo and/or conditioner did not occur with this shampoo. The last test of this shampoo, was my drying experience. As I mentioned, my hair is fine. There are days when blow drying my hair causes static and flatness. This shampoo made individual strands behave differently (in the best way). I had volume in my hair as the end result. The strands were just falling into place and my hair feels fuller. This is a salon quality shampoo. I have no doubts about it. I still feel it "working" on my scalp after rinsing and blow drying my hair. That lovely botanical scent is retained after blow drying, too. I'm so surprised and pleased with this shampoo!Lauren441

I had been using Rose Gold for Brown hair on my highlights, and it looked awesome. I thought to myself, “why not graduate to pink?” and let’s just say there IS such a thing as too much pink. I started using the Fader shampoo, and while it works, it’s definitely a slow process! Pics are from my first use to my fourth use, and it is getting back to the “rose gold” look. It doesn’t get to the pink that’s underneath a few layers of hair as much as I want it to, despite trying to lather it all over my hair. I do use The Remedy directly following shampoo application, and I highly recommend pairing them, as the shampoo can be really drying.Emily F.
Long story short, I ended up with a dark demi permanent gloss on my hair that I hated. I've been growing out my white, which I've grown to really like, and this, I was told, would blend everything. Fail. I purchased the fader to try to take it out until it could hopefully be fixed. When I saw a new hairdresser a few weeks later they commented that it was a lot lighter than when I first went in for a consult 2 days after the demi permanent. I love it when it works but it works inconsistently. I’ve been trying to get my purple/magenta-ish/pink hair (Arctic Fox purples and pinks and rose gold overtone) as faded as possible to add some orange later…and it’s made some of my hair (the outer part) a pinky brown (yay!) but has barely put a dent on other parts. Been using it every other day for 2 weeks in very hot water. Smells incredible and a little goes a very long way (crazy lather & foam!) but on my blue based color it needs to be stronger (or used much more frequently). Overall a good clarifying conditioner, great value, but the fading definitely taking more time than I expected.Haley H.

I am not sure if this specific formula has been discontinued. I really liked this formula, and never had any issues with hair loss or scalp irritation. I have oily and fine hair, and use dry shampoo daily to extend the amount of time in between washes( 3rd or 4th day). By the time hair wash day comes around, the amount of product build up is unreal, but somehow this shampoo manages to remove all of the build up. When using this shampoo after a while, I did t have to use as much dry shampoo, and extend the time in between washes to every 5 days.susanne.j
Used it twice and WOW! I have thick curly hair. 3c/4a. I always used head and shoulders to clarify because I knew it was a harsher shampoo and helped with dandruff. It worked okay but dried my hair out really bad until I decided to buy this. This shampoo left my hair SUPER shiny. My hair hasn’t had a bit of shine to it in almost 7 years. It also feels silky when I straighten it. I can tell my hair will be a lot more healthier keeping this in my routine. Can’t believe I never knew about this until now. I use once a week, followed by Olaoplex 3, then shampoo with my regular shampoo and deep condition. Overall my hair feels incredible and it doesn’t dry it out like other clarifying shampoos. Okay first and foremost, this stuff smells terrible. The scent is incredibly strong and clings to my hair when used. It does admittedly work well at clarifying hair. I used this twice a month for about a year and other than the smell, I had no real complaints. In fact, it made my hair have tons of volume. However, I feel like it should be pointed out that this product does contain Dmdm Hydantoin. This ingredient is pretty controversial at the moment in relation to hair loss. As someone suffering from telogen effluvium due to covid I don't want to take any chances on more hair loss. If they got rid of that ingredient and toned down the smell, I would absolutely go back to using this. For now though, I will have to find a different clarifying shampoo.britt

Wow this really is salon quality. I have long thick hair and hard water at home. I have tried many clarifying shampoos and this one by far is the best, it leaves my hair still shiny and soft, whereas all other brands I have tried are so harsh and drying making my hair like tumbleweed the first 2 days post wash. I use so many different hair products in my hair that have been giving me buildup issues. Dry shampoo, hair spray, texture spray, etc. I also have oily roots and a little bit of dandruff as well. First use I really worked it into my scalp and the following morning my hair looks amazing! Feels very nice and clean, seems to have helped with the dandruff as well. This shampoo sucked. I have long hair that is neither fine nor thick. After trying just a quarter size of the shampoo, I had to use more because it wasn’t getting my hair clean. My hair smelled dirty and was left in tangles. There are MUCH better clarifying shampoos, if this is your first time using this one. When I emailed Odele Customer Service they told me they’ve had nothing but great reviews for this shampoo, which I’m doubtful of (would want verified purchasers), because the shampoo doesn’t do anything but make your hair feel like you have a layer of gunk on it while being squeaky clean. I tried their brand because Target didn’t have the Paul Mitchell Shampoo One or Two. Would not buy this product again, and not to be mean but the packaging is nice, the smell is decent but the shampoo doesn’t clean your hair.Long Hair
