Finding the best cleansing oil for acne-prone skin can be a challenging task. With so many options on the market, it’s hard to know which one will effectively cleanse your skin without clogging pores or causing more breakouts. When shopping for a cleansing oil, there are a few key factors to keep in mind.
First, look for a formula that is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog pores. Ingredients like mineral oil, coconut oil, and olive oil may be too heavy for acne-prone skin. Instead, look for lightweight plant oils like jojoba, grapeseed, or squalane. You’ll also want to avoid cleansing oils with synthetic fragrances, which can be irritating.
It’s also important to find an oil that rinses clean without leaving behind a residue. Does it require a second cleanser to remove it fully? The best cleansing oils for acne will wash away with just water, leaving your skin fresh and soft.
When testing out a new oil cleanser, be sure to patch test first. Apply a small amount to your jawline for a few nights and watch for any increased breakouts. This will reveal if the formula is pore-clogging for your unique skin chemistry.
An effective cleansing oil is a gentle, non-irritating way to remove makeup, sunscreen, and excess oil from acne-prone skin. With a little trial and error, you can find the perfect one to add to your skincare routine. Deep clean your pores without provoking more acne – it’s possible with the right oil cleanser!

Reviews:
I have been buying this cleansing oil for years now and I will continue to do so. I love it so much!!! For reference, I am in my 40s and have dry aging skin with enlarged pores, wrinkles and hyperpigmentation. PROS: * Clean at Sephora: it has a short list of clean ingredients, great for the skin, specially antioxidants which my skin loves and needs. * It smells great: I love scented products and this one has a fresh slight scent. * It deeply cleans my skin: it does the job. I have used it both as first and second step of my cleansing routine and love both. I use it more as second step leaving it on the skin for a couple minutes to get the best of the antioxidants and squalane. * It doesn’t dry my skin: many cleansers are harsh and leave the skin dry but it is not the case with this one. * A little goes a long way: you just need a little to do the job so the whole bottle lasts a long time. * The bottle is light so I can take it on trips: I love cristal bottles but they are heavy and there is a risk to break that does not exist in this case because it is plastic, but quite good looking as well. CONS: * I only find one issue with this cleanser and it is the price, which is quite high, although the bottle lasts long making it a little less pricey. I will continue to purchase this cleanser because I love it!!Saradestin
I was very hesitant to try this cleanser because I usually like a foaming face wash. I always thought that foaming face wash cleans better. I've been using the aloe cleanser but noticed my skin getting dry. I love Biossance products, so I gave this cleanser a try. And am I glad I did. This cleanser is beyond anything I expected. Such a gentle cleansing without drying out my skin. Leaving it beautifully clean and conditioned. I do use a gentle eye makeup remover before using this cleanser, but it cleans all of my other makeup completely. LOVE LOVE LOVE this cleanser.Claudia E.
I cut makeup wipes out of my routine 4 years ago when I discovered this product. For context I am 29, with fair, normal / combo skin, not sensitive, I don't wear foundation everyday, but I do use SPF daily. This Cleansing Oil is the perfect start to my skincare routine, it effortlessly dissolves makeup, excess oil, SPF, and helps dislodge sebaceous filaments / blackheads / dead skin. As an oil, it is ideal to use in combination with facial massage / gua sha, to aid in manual lymphatic drainage. I use this to remove mascara and heavy eye makeup, while it might make my vision a little cloudy, it does not burn my eyeballs the way other oil cleansers have. I have KP (keratosis pilaris) and because I use this everyday, I feel as though I am gently removing built up dead skin cells, and therefore do not have to use abrasive physical exfoliants as often as I did in the past. I love Biossance and would absolutely recommend this product to anyone, especially if you wear makeup, SPF, or skincare products daily, that contain dimethicone of any kind of silicone-like ingredients. In a routine: I use this at nighttime, before a gentle cleanser, and follow with a hydrating gel, eye cream (love the Peptide Eye Gel), alternating treatment (retinol or AHA / BHA), and finish with a gentle hydrating moisturizer.Drozey

Reviews:
I switched to this cleansing oil since it has less pore-clogging oils in it than the DHC one & I was seeing some increased congestion using DHC. This oil removes my super waterproof mascara well. Also, I can tell just by a few uses that it has lighter oils in it, but I can’t speak for decreased congestion. So, it checks all the boxes EXCEPT THE FRAGRANCE. Why! First of all, unnecessary ingredient. Secondly, I have semi-sensitive skin, so hopefully I don’t see negative effects from this long term. Thirdly, rose is the worst smell ever in my opinion. Please remove the fragrance and I will repurchase & recommend to others. Otherwise, once I finish the product I will find another cleansing oil to try.Kristen
For the longest time I was forever faithful to my Clinique Take The Day Off: Cleansing Balm for the start of my double cleanse. I loved everything about it, minus the price. $45CDN every month or so was just becoming a bit too much. Enter Amazon. I saw this being advertised on my Amazon front page for $8CDN. I read up on the reviews and figured, for $8 you can’t lose! I have used this for over a month now and I am just hitting the half-way mark. It’s a runny oil but a one/two pumps will suffice. It removes every single trace of makeup. Even stubborn waterproof mascara. I don’t need to scrub hard and after about 30 seconds of working the oil in, I rinse. All eye makeup is gone and even my stubborn red lipstick has vanished. Once my face has been rinsed clean (which is a breeze), I follow with my normal cleanser. Now for those sensitive to scents, this is pretty heavy on the floral side. It does have Rosehip fragrance. I quite like the scent and think it’s quite pretty. However if you don’t like scents, give this a pass. I have very sensitive, acne prone skin. This oil does not break me out or cause any irritations. My eyes also never seem to react! If you are looking for a bargain that does the job, give this bad boy a go! I’m sure you’ll love it!courtney.k
Love, love this cleansing oil, love the way my skin feels, love the great ingredients, love the great price. I love everything about it except for the fragrance. I always think when I see fragrance in a face product "would I put perfume on my face" and the answer is no, so usually I try to avoid it. But the reviews and positives for this cleansing oil were so overwhelmingly good, that I just had to try it and I was not disappointed. With much regret, due to the fact that I will not use a product with fragrance for an extended period of time, I will not be purchasing this again unless a fragrance free version becomes available (hint to Palmer's). I implore more companies to include more fragrance free options for their face products especially great products like this one. Even though I will be discontinuing my use of this, I would still recommend it to someone who does not have a problem with fragrance. The four star rating for quality is only because of the fragrance.goodskin4040

Reviews:
Does not dissolve makeup as stated. I use a light weight tinted moisturizer makeup and non-waterproof mascara and have a difficult time removing it with this product. It BURNS my eyes. I'm very disappointed in this cleanser and would recommend pure coconut oil instead, it's way less expensive and does a better job at removing makeup and does not burn my eyes. I would NOT recommend this expensive oil cleanser!LLP
I have been using this every morning for a few years. It works very well for my skin (normal with a tendancy toward occasional dry spots). It's light and doesn't leave a greasy feeling but does cleanse well. The one star is for the bottle and pump. Most of the pumps I have received have been defective. I have been using the same pump for about a year because I continue to receive pumps that don't work. Come on PC … do some quality control once in a while!LilTess
I was not impressed with this product at first and I left an unfavorable review. I was comparing it to some of the cult-followed oils that are more effective for makeup removal. I returned to it anyway because it doesn't have any fragrance or plant/florals. I wanted the many benefits of using an oil but without the irritant fragrant additives, such as citrus, which appear in the vast majority of cleansing oils. I have discovered that this a first-rate cleanser if you approach it right. First, the formulation is exceptional. Many cleansing oils are quite drying, since the oil binds with and pulls oil out of your skin. This one does not. Paula's Choice has added just the right blend of emollients and softeners to counteract the oil's capacity for stripping skin. (As mentioned, it also has no fragrance of any kind. It doesn't smell great, but it's not offensively bad and you don't spend that much time with it!) Second, you can get good makeup removal result if you ignore the directions on the bottle that tell you that you can use this on wet skin. That's not how one uses cleansing oils. For maximum benefits and maximum cleansing, always use it on dry skin with dry hands. Massage for 20-30 seconds, wet your hands, emulsify, repeat. Rinse well. The oil is thin enough to glide with ease, but not so thin that it feels like water. This routine takes off all my makeup except eyeliner and waterproof mascara. For that, I dissolve my eye makeup first with micellar water, then gently pat the area dry with a tissue. Then I wash my face with this oil (dry skin, dry hands!), including around the eye area. l end up with all traces of makeup gone and a happy, healthy face. In a few weeks, this routine has made my already-good but sensitive skin even-toned, glowing, soft and happy with no trace of redness.northstar

Reviews:
The Pure Cleansing Oil, which is described as a gentle and effective skin cleansing oil that utilizes natural ingredients. It’s deep skin cleansing and nourishing, soothing and hydrating. This product comes in a tall plastic bottle with a pump and it contains 200 ml (6.76 oz) and has a mixed essential oil scent. The oil is clear, as you can see towards the top of my hand in the picture and I’m removing some liquid lipstick. I massaged it onto my hand with no water. After water is added it becomes a milky color. It didn’t quite get everything off, the one lipstick stained a bit. After rinsing off the makeup, it came off quite easily for the most part and it was very gentle and my skin felt and looked very clean. Recommended use is to gently massage your dry face with the appropriate amount of oil, rinse with warm water and then finish with cold water. It’s suggested to double cleanse in the evening by following up the oil with a cleansing foam. After using, I found this oil to be very gentle and it has quite a strong scent of the different oils in the ingredients. It’s mostly made up of very natural oils and extracts and I didn’t notice any irritation and found this to work without lots of scrubbing. My skin feels smooth after using it and it really removes makeup and sunscreen very well. It takes about 2-3 pumps to cover my face and properly remove everything and it’s also not irritating to my eyes when removing eye makeup. I can recommend this to anyone regardless of skin type. What I like: I love the ingredients and how natural they are, I found it to be a great mix and it didn’t irritate my skin. The scent is kind of strong, but I liked it personally (this is still a possible con). The pump is really good and dispenses the product easily and it requires only about 2-3 pumps to cleanse your face adequately. After rinsing it off, my skin feels very smooth and I feel like it’s removed the makeup and sunscreen easily. What I don’t like: nothing, but the scent will throw off some people, whether you hate fragrance or have super sensitive skin keep this in mind.danniel.r
I recently purchased this cleansing oil after reading reviews of this product online. I wanted to add this to my skin routine and have no regrets. The description of this product indicates that it is a great cleansing oil for removing makeup in the evening and hydration in the morning, which I have to agree. It’s recommended as part of a two step cleansing process. First, apply to dry skin , after face is saturated, add warm water to activate the cleanser and rinse with luke warm water. I follow it up with a foaming cleanser from youth to the people.katie.s
There are so many oils in this product that are superb for your skin that it should be no surprise at how comfortable and clean skin feels after washing with it. Massage it onto a dry face and neck, apply a small amount of water and massage again to emulsify, then rinse well with lukewarm water. Ingredients read like a lineup of stars in the world of beneficial oils and include my beloved Camellia. This oil rinses so cleanly that a description falls short of the reality. I am reluctant to follow with a water-based cleanser because I do not wish to interfere with the effects of this oil, it's that pleasurable. No tightness, no irritation, no residue. Comfort is all that's left behind. Kudos to you, ma:nyo; they're deserved.sweetviolet

Reviews:
I was looking for an oil cleanser as part of my search for the perfect skincare routine. I am waiting on delivery of a Korean brand kit that includes 4 of the 10 (!!!) steps that brand recommends. That brand recommended an oil cleanser made by a different company. I have combo skin so the thought of putting oil on my face made me really nervous, even after I read the rationale for using it either alone or before a gentle "refreshing" type cleanser. I went into an Ulta store to buy that oil cleanser but a really nice store employee recommended I try this instead, saying that the one I was thinking of buying didn't seem like an oil cleanser at all-dried her skin out and caused an alcohol-like burning feeling. No thanks!!! I'm so glad I took her advice! This oil felt warm (not hot or burning) going on, dissolved all my makeup (even super stubborn fiber-extension mascara), rinsed off well with warm water, and my skin felt amazingly soft afterwards. I did use a "refreshing" type regular cleanser afterward but my skin felt dry, tight, and uncomfortable in a couple areas. That cleanser was not from Tula. The next day I used just this oil and it was almost perfect. I still think I need another cleanser after the oil. I hope the cleanser in the Korean line will be perfect but if not, I'll buy the Tula cleanser next.MelissaInTN
This is the third oil cleanser that I have tried so far and my fave out of all three. The ingredient list steers clear from anything that may pose as comedogenic and that's mainly what gravitated me towards it as my skin tends to clog really easy. Since going with this one I've noticed that the formula is almost a bit more gel-like than oil but slicks off makeup easily, as any other oil cleanser would. It doesn't burn my eyes or disrupt my contact use. Being that my skin is so prone to clogging I have decided to oil cleanse with this and then follow-up with two washes of my gentle cleanser and honestly since doing that my skin has been doing so much better. No color or extra sebum coming off after sweeping a cotton round, no clogging of pores and my cleanser is so gentle that irritation from a triple cleanse in the evenings are not a concern. I will continue to use this.naml
I like the product does a decent job of getting my long wear mascara off. Doesn’t leave an oily residue. The pump however is awful. It squirts out from the sides of the pump. I resorted to pouring it into my hand. I called to see about a replacement pump and the rep said that she could help me troubleshoot the issue and instructed me on how to “reprime” the pump. Which I did. And the issue was the same. So she said In order for them to send me a replacement pump I would have to send a video of the pump not working. Really??? It’s not worth the time between calling videoing emailing. Let me be clear the rep was very nice. Not her fault she was just following the rules. I’ll just continue to pour it out of the bottle. But one thing is for sure. Last time I buy this product.Adriana p.

I have used this for years and found out in 2019 it had been discontinued. That year I was in the Middle East and Asia but could not track any down. I was fortunate to have a few spare but did go through a 6 month period without and was forced to try alternatives, both BB and other brands. Nothing compared. Last year I saw it was available on BB's website and ordered a few but when I went back into reorder, it was out of stock !!! A sales associate informed me it must have been stock that they discovered and that it was not going to be available in stores or on line again. Tonight with 20 % off I discovered it was back on BB's website so I have ordered in bulk. Please bring back the tinted moisturising extra Balm with 26 spf !!AlzyBalzy
It takes time to get used to the weird, herb smell but only a second to fall in love with the oil. I have quite oily skin but my skin chapped after exfoliating in winter. Nothing helped until I found this oil. Only two times of makeup removing with it, I got back my healthy look and even better balanced skin. The blackhead is much less, the surface is very smooth, and my face is luminous without being too oily. I also use this oil to spot clean my natural hair foundation brushes. I love this product!NWang
I have tried dozens of oil cleaners and this is the BEST. Years ago I got a travel size as a gift with purchase and truly so impressed. I don't understand why this product doesn't get more hype?!?!? Well… if it cost less I would buy it way more often. This is an oil cleanser that feels like it rinses off with just water and doesn't need a second face wash to get rid of residue. It removes heavy eye makeup really well without needing to heavily rub or wipe the eyes. I think this product deserves more praise like some other reviews say! I do 1-2 pumps and massage it all over my face for maybe 20 seconds and it rinses off clean and skin feels greatilashes

This is my favorite cleansing oil that I have tried, and I also prefer it to cleansing balms and creams I have tried. To me, cleansing oils are better for makeup removal because I don't feel much friction with the skin when I rub to remove mascara/eyeliner. I like this cleansing oil because I feel that it's the most effective cleansing oil and also because I really enjoy the light olive scent. It is also the easiest cleansing oil/balm/cream that I've tried to remove – my skin feels clean and there is no residue after emulsifying. With many others, I feel that there is a thin film left on my skin or that a water-based cleanser should be used. On days when I wear less on my face (i.e. only sunscreen or no sunscreen), two pumps are sufficient for my face. It leaves my skin very soft and I've gotten my mother on this product as well.Stella
What should I say?! This cleansing oil is magical! I'm in LOVE with it that I want to recommend to everyone 😍😂 As a Mediterranean girl, I know how much olive oil is beneficial for the skin as I learned this from my mother and grandmother. Nowadays, this old beauty ritual is disappearing since putting olive oil ditectly on the skin can be uncomfortable for some. When I saw this product in Japan, I was speechless and said to myself, Japanese really know everything, even this small beauty secret we had, and they are smarter because they created with it a fantastic product that can be used easily and fast. This cleansing oil is applied to the face with a gentle massage, then washed with water. No oil will be left in the skin afterwards, so no more worries about going out under the sun or smelling like olive 😂😍 I feel my skin shiny and the pores closed after applying it. So, please try it and remember me 🤗🍭
One of the best oil cleansers I've tried. I have dry, sensitive skin and I really love this oil cleanser. The DHC Deep Cleansing Oil is an OG Japanese oil cleanser that gently removes makeup and sunscreen without stripping your skin. It is olive oil based with rosemary extract and vitamin E. The olive oil is full of natural antioxidants and in combination with the vitamin E, they soften and hydrate the skin. It is a dark golden oil upon first appearance. It has a strong olive oil smell which I didn't love but the scent doesn't linger after emulsifying and being washed away. It becomes milky and is easy to wash off skin without rubbing. I use it as my first cleansing step in my PM routine. I use one pump for my face and neck and massage it onto my dry skin for 30 seconds before rinsing my hands and emulsifying the cleanser on my face. It becomes super soft and silky and leaves my skin feeling as soft and silky! If I'm double cleansing, I follow up with a water-based cleanser but on days when I work from home, I use this as my standalone cleanser for the PM. I have no qualms about this product. It removes my makeup just fine including stubborn waterproof mascara without rubbing and losing any eyelashes. It also makes me feel secure after wearing and reapplying sunscreen that every bit of sunscreen is off by the end of my PM routine. For a basic oil cleanser, this is HG!

I bought this product a couple years ago and I used up a full bottle and enjoyed it. Now fast forward to today. I bought another bottle to try out years later. It did not give me that clean feeling. It was very oily on my skin and I emulsified it with water into a milk wash and then I took a face cloth to wash off all my make up. I had to do that twice, to get all my makeup off and then do a second cleanse with something else. For the price, it’s too expensive to have to use another face wash on top of this for a double cleanse. After my face was washed with this, I felt a filmy residue left behind and my face did not completely feel clean. I also experienced a few breakouts, so sadly after a few days of using, I returned. I found this much more oily then I remembered it years ago. For me, it just felt like I was putting cooking oil on my face to remove my make up and to me, that’s not a nice feeling, so I returned it. Packaging was beautiful, but I cannot justify spending so much on a product that gave me minimal results and breakouts. I have combination oily skin with dry patches and this did not hydrate my skin at all. I really wanted to love this, but it did not work out for me.tiphanie123
Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil promises a deep but gentle cleanse. It’s a 2-1 cleanser that thoroughly cleanses the skin by removing dead skin cells and natural sebum that collect on your skin without stripping it of its natural moisture. This oil will nourish the skin and easily rinse away makeup leaving skin fresh and cleansed without double cleansing. Formulated with: – Camellia Seed Oil is a nourishing rich oil containing vitamins A, B, D, and E and nourishing Omegas 3, 6, and 9 – Hadasei-3 is a complex of rice bran, green tea, and algae. Superfood rich in antioxidants that work together to deliver plump, petal-soft skin at any age. Crafted with essential amino acids and gentle AHAs like lactic acid to gently resurface the skin This oil is runny and has a watery consistency but smooth in texture. Not so runny where you are unable to spread across the face, it’s just not as heavy as some other cleansing oils I’ve used. It does have a scent, the same scent you get with most Tatcha products, but it’s not as strong and overbearing as the Rice Wash. Not much is needed, 2-3 pumps is good. I massage into my skin anywhere from 30 seconds to a full minute and then add the water that turns the oil into a milky emulsion. Had no issue rinsing off and but it did leave behind a slight residue, so I do find myself still doing the double cleanse. My face fells soft, moisturized, and supple after each use. My biggest con is the price. You get 150ml for $58. I just can’t justify the price when I’ve used cleansing oils that give me the same results that are cheaper and has a larger product size. PROS: – Doesn’t irritate skin – Provides a gentle cleanse – Removed all makeup but mascara – Does not leave behind a film or residue – Leaves skin feeling soft and supple – Moisturizing – Gives you a healthy glow CONS: – High Price. 150ml $58 – Contains Fragrance – Contains Alcohol – Did not remove all waterproof mascaracourtney.h
Have never used Tatcha before. In dept store brands, I see so many water-based, foaming cleansers. They do Not remove MU. Water cuts water, not oil. Oil cuts oil on the face, and I found Tatcha Camellia Cleansing Oil on their website. Just received my order a few days ago. The Camellia Cleansing Oil is delicate (not thick and stiff like baby oil from the drugstore), smooths easily, has a lovely fragrance (I dislike fragrance free products), and actually cuts through dirt, oil, cream fdtn, etc. I then use the Rice Polish Gentle. It is lovely for dry, dehydrated, mature skin. There is no irritation during and after using these two products. My skin is clean, soft, and has even coloring, and the pores seem minimized. I Iike that the Polish has enzymes (enzymes dissolve the glue which holds dead skin cells on the skin). Wish the Polish had some lovely fragrance too, but there is none. I used the little, sample packet of the Dewey Skin Creme. It is soft, easily applies, has a soft fragrance, and a little goes a long way. I have now had this creme on for over 30 min, and there is a bit of tack when I touch my face to see how my skin feels. Just finished my nighttime skincare and shall see if the tackiness goes away overnight – I hope so as I do not like that tacky, sticky feeling on my skin. If this creme does stay tacky, I shall try the other moisturizer, Ageless Enriching Renewal Creme. If that creme also remains sticky on my skin, I shall just keep using my moisturizer from another brand which is not tacky/sticky. As for the skin freshener, I do not justify a price tag of $105.!!! Shall stick with the skin freshener I now have from another brand. I DO say that after using the Oil and Rice Polish Gentle, my skin is soft all day and does not dissipate nor leave my skin dry.Esthetician

Reviews:
I like this product, but the packing and delivery were disaster. I ordered one, and I planned to use it later, because I am using other products. I want to keep it unopened until I use it to keep it fresh, but the first bottle I received leaked everywhere. I also needed to clean other items in that box. However, the service is great, and they sent me another bottle. But the second bottle also leaked. I think before shipping, this kind of oil products needed to be check and make sure that it is sealed completely.LeanneZ
The name of this cleansing oil is a bit of a mouthful, but it delivers so beautifully that I don’t care if it has 67 words in the title, I’d still saunter into Kiehls and embarrass myself with a babble of mispronunciation. As you can tell from the first few words, spoiler alert, I LOVE THIS STUFF! The website says it’s a lightweight oil that emulsifies with water to gently melt away all traces of dirt, makeup, sunscreen etc. and is suitable for face and eyes. Having delicate skin around the eye area, I can attest to this. It does indeed remove every last trace of whatever is sitting on the skin, without leaving me looking like I just watched an episode of Lassie when he couldn’t rescue the boy from the well (just me? Ok!) However, it’s not the cheapest of cleansers so I’d tend to use as a second cleanse or morning cleanse–it’s a bit too lush just to scrub off flaky mascara. It has a beautiful texture and when massaged into the skin, breaks down every last bit of makeup and sunscreen. It transforms any skin that feels a bit parched or tight, to soft and supple. When used as a second cleanse, it feels like a real treat on the skin and leaves your face ready to absorb any serums, oils or creams. Don’t be afraid to use this if you have oily skin, it actually helps to remove excess sebum, in my case my t-zone, leave it feeling balanced, while hydrating my cheeks that at times, cry out for some moisture. What’s great about it? Lightweight Gentle, Leaves skin soft and supple, Non-comedogenic so won’t clog pores, suitable for sensitive eyes, smells divine What’s not so great? Personally speaking, nothing. However, a bit more expensive than some cleansers but worth it if you can spare the cash. Use a cheaper cleanser to remove your make up and this beauty to soothe, clean and hydrate your skin. How to: Use this as a first cleanse in your evening skincare routine to help breakdown your makeup, sunscreen, and the days dirt and grime! Follow up with your favorite water base cleanser in preparation for you night routine.dawn.d
What an absolutely fantastic product! I got it in a great little sample pack of all Keihl's products. I was apprehensive to use it, as I have never used an oil as a face wash before. However, after recently starting to use retinol, my skin has been dry and peeling, and I was willing to use anything that could help provide some relief. I was very pleasantly surprised at how wonderful this smelled, how gentle it was on my skin, and how un-oily it was! It even took off my eye makeup and did not cause any pain in my eyes whatsoever. It was extremely gentle, and was very similar to the Dermalogica pre-wash face wash, which essentially dissolves your makeup. I still used a foaming cleanser afterwards, but this was such an excellent product to gently get everything off my face, and I think you would be fine using it alone as a face wash or makeup remover.DaniT

This is the first cleansing oil I’ve tried that didn’t break me out. I looked for one for such a long time because the idea of a cleansing oil sounded so much less harsh on the skin than using cotton pads with makeup remover or makeup wipes. My skin has never looked better. I use this first to remove my makeup wiping away with a damp microfibre cloth, then I double cleanse. My skin irritation has gone away completely. Super thrilled with this product!Kenzje
I'm a firm believer in the double cleanse method. But I tend to switch between a balm and a cleansing oil. I've always used other oils (Tula, Julep and other K-beauty brands) but thought I would try this since I've used the Clinique balm before. I was impressed at how effective it is! It's not stripping and it feels very smooth without being greasy, if that makes sense. I also love that it's fragrance-free, which is always a nice option to have. I'm 40 with combination acne-prone skin and this hasn't been an issue at all. Clinique products are usually pretty tried and true for me. Not sure why I never scooped this up before. But I'll definitely be including it in my skincare arsenal going forward.AT
I thought since this was so "high end", it was gonna be amazing. It does the job on removing your makeup on your cheeks and what not, but as far as your eye makeup, it stings every time and I'm blinking a million times after washing my face and completing my routine because it hurts my eyes, and leaves an oily feeling behind. It doesn't completely remove mascara either, and I use Loreal, which is a drugstore brand. I'm almost done with the bottle, and looking forward to getting something else. I love Clinique makeup, but this doesn't work for me. I want to look forward to an easy makeup removal process, not a hassle when I'm tired at night :[Kayla

I received the Sulwhasoo cleansing oil complimentary from Influenster. It comes in a cute plastic pump. It washes off pretty easily and doesn't feel like it leaves much of a residue. I love makeup removing balms and oils and I've used a lot of them. This one will do, but if you have a lot of eye makeup like eyeliner and more than a coat of mascara, it's not that great. Yes, it starts to break it down, but not as well as I'd like. I won't be purchasing this product once I run out of it. I do think that this line does have some great products but this cleansing oil is just ok.leslieaquino23
I’m so glad I found this! I was going through some serious depression and a hole in my skincare when my HG cleansing oil was discontinued (l’occitane immortalle cleansing oil). I tried a lot of balms/ makeup removers/ oils but this one fit the bill by taking off my makeup (even my beat face), without stinging/ hurting my eyeballs, or excessive rubbing my lashes. Has not broken me out! I wear pretty heavy eye makeup-layered mascara, liner, shadow. This takes all the mascara off (Note: I do not use waterproof mascara so I can’t attest to it’s performance to remove waterproof formulas. For reference My go to mascara’s that I have tried and tested this product with are Lancôme Mr. Big, Dior, Marc Jacobs, Buxom and/ or benefit roller girl). The product- silky light weight oil that smells lightly herbal (I don’t mind it). It transforms into a milky textures when introduced to water. Rinses off clean with no residue. Best way to use- dispense into hands and gently put on skin and eyes. Gently Massage in for a like a minute or 2 to ‘marinate’ and breakdown the makeups (really depends on how much cake I slapped on that day). I massage another minute on eyes and get in to lashes. wet my hands and massage that bit of water in and let it transform (SLOWLY) into the milky texture. When I know all the mascara and liner of off, I rinse off. Follow up with gel/ foam cleanser (favorite is: tarte deep dive) and then toner. Toner pad tells me if the makeup and gunk is all off. Happy to report- no makeup residue. On days when I don’t wear makeup but have sunscreen on (Hi ‘rona), I use this as my my only wash. It’s super gentle, does not strip my skin. I also use this if my skin has become sensitized (over doing the exfoliation/ winter) bc it’s calming. One star off because I still have to let it ‘marinate’ on my skin/ lashes a wee bit to take off all makeup. My skin type- 30’s, normal to combo (oily tzone), scare easy, The occasional Hormonal zit near ‘shark week’.lsa2
I really enjoyed using this product. Apparently it’s not for everyone, but it definitely gets the job done when it comes to taking off makeup. This is not a product that should be used alone and should be followed up with some kind of cleanser after use. Some people did review and say the smell is a little potent but it’s what I would expect from some thing that has ginseng in it. And I actually really enjoy using this product. My make up comes off entirely and I do not wake up with residue on my pillow or under my eyes etc. This product is more like a 7 out of 10 as it is not stand alone, and not something I would purchase often as I don’t wear heavy amounts of makeup often. This product is way better than make up remover wipes because it doesn’t leave your face feeling dry after use. It feels like it’s hydrating while it removes the make up, and was pleasantly enjoyable to usehehitchcock

I have very sensitive skin + chronic hives that are aggravated by lots of skin products. I use this cleansing oil as a second step after micellar water, and it works great for me. The smell is neutral — not unscented exactly, but neutral. It's expensive, so I tried another brand of cleansing oil, but it aggravated my hives so I am going back to this.nab18
First off, I have to disagree with anyone who will take away stars from a product simply because of the price. The price has absolutely nothing to do with how well the product functions. If that is a deciding factor, there are cheaper products out there. But, believe me, this cleansing oil is the best I have tried. Many people have said they do not like the fragrance of this oil, because it is a bit on the ‘oceany’ side. Personally, the fragrance does not bother me, and I really do enjoy the beautiful blue coloring. My skin is usually dry, but can have some oily spots. This cleansing oil takes care of the dry spots, but does not make the oily spots any worse. It actually balances everything out. I use this on my face and neck, have found that four pumps is the average amount are use per cleansing session. (Three would do it, but I just love the way it feels, so I use four.)amber.r
I have been using La Mer products for nearly two decades, occasionally I change to see if anything better has been brought out, and always, without a fail, I return to the same products.. This oil has a beautiful omega/marine fragrance, very subtle and gentle.. only need two pumps to cleanse the whole face, gently rub it into the skin, making sure you can see makeup dissolving, then add a little water to turn it into milky soapy substance and wash it all away or use a damp face flannel to wipe it clean. This cleanser will dissolve even the most stubborn waterproof mascaras with no effort at all. If used incorrectly, this cleanser will leave your face sticky and uncomfortable, perhaps even clog your pores, therefore, it is essential to read instructions which will help and avoid writing negative reviews, just because you don't know how to use it…Renata

Reviews:
This is the first cleansing oil that I've tried, so I can't say how it fares compared to other cleansing oils. I do not wear much makeup, and usually micellar water & face cleanser, which removed whatever I was wearing very well. However, on days that I wear something like CC cream for more coverage, the micellar water wasn't removing the makeup as well. So, wanted to try a cleansing oil, and picked Neutrogena since it's much cheaper than other brands that run $40. It seems to work better in removing makeup, except my waterproof eyeliner. I still need to use my eye makeup remover first. After rinsing the oil off, I still feel a little residue on my face since it is an oil and follow up w/ face cleanser. Also, it did sting a bit when it got into my eyes once. What I don't like is the fragrance. To me, it smells like green apple Now & Later candy and a little strong & synthetic. I have been using this product for a while now and I love it! I try to stay away from scented products but I don't mind the berry scent of this product. I have used it to take off heavy makeup, eye makeup, and face paint. It's worked great for everything. The product is lightweight so I usually use two pumps if I'm just taking off the sunscreen. If I'm taking off sunscreen I may use around four pumps of this product. It's easy to dispense and I would definitely consider repurchasing it. Pricing is also pretty descent.annie.p
Okay so this product isn’t for kids. I used it for myself everyday and I have sensitive skin that breaks out easily. This took off my waterproof makeup easily and washed off completely in the shower with minimal face wash and no scrubbing needed. Now imagine my surprise when I find out my expressive diva found her way into the waterproof Halloween makeup, I cringed thinking about how I was going to have to do several washes to get this all off. Her poor skin! Then I remembered this cleansing oil. Let me tell you… I was blown away!!! I rubbed a dime size gently over her entire face and I could instantly see the pink lifting. I used warm water and a soft wash cloth to gently wipe it all off in one go. Her skin was glowing and soft for days following. I need to buy more!!Christina

I had been using Deep Cleansing Oil for years, and still continue to use it. But as I aged, I started getting these large pores that were becoming more visible, on my cheeks, nose, chin and other areas. I had never seen this before and one day I looked in my rearview mirror and was shocked to see large pores peeking through my makeup. I was told by my dermatologist that this happens as we age. The skin starts to lose elasticity and our pores get larger and more slack as a result. I ordered Pore Cleansing Oil and Pore Face Wash, hoping for a little change. What I got was a huge change and I'm so thankful there is a product like this from DHC. I will never be without it! Pores have shrunk and are barely visible anymore. Leaves skin clean and soft. Does exactly what it says. Don't ever discontinue this product line. There's nothing else like it anywhere.Melsmom
I love wearing makeup, but finding products that take it off well and aren't too oily or irritating for my sensitive, acne-prone skin has been a challenge. I tend to use long-wearing makeup and setting sprays, so previously it was often a trade-off between makeup removers that were too greasy for my skin or makeup removers that did not remove my makeup well. This cleansing oil is the solution! It takes off my makeup very well, without leaving behind an oily residue or making my face sting. (I do avoid using it around my eye area because it can make my eyes water if it gets close to my lashline.) I use this every day and noticed an improvement in my skin almost immediately. It also smells and feels nice, so I actually look forward to taking off my makeup in the evenings. I plan to re-purchase this product (and stock up) once it is back in stock.gina09
I have been using the DHC Olive Deep Cleansing Oil for years, but I have always wanted to give this a try, so while it was on sale, I purchased a bottle. I typically don't like scented skincare but this one doesn't seem to bother me. The scent is very light and pleasant. The consistency, in comparison to the Deep Cleansing Oil, seems to be thinner so it's easier to spread and message over face. I don't know if it's because of the pump I seem to use less of this cleansing oil to get the job done. Did my pores really shrink? I haven't really noticed a significant change yet but since my pores are not a big concern to me I will say yes to this product and will buy again.True Gruit

Double-cleansing has been a lifesaver for me. Never before has my makeup come off so easily! I absolutely love how this cleanser is made with such pure olive oil. It is gentle and so beautifully hydrating.icebluediamondz
I have been using the original deep cleansing oil for a long long time while periodically trying for new cleansing products, but finally this one won over the original for my skin!! It feels smoother and softer on my skin, and yet does the job really well. I hope they will make travel size one, too.dryandsensitive
I just tried this. I have been using DHC's other cleansing oil for a year or so and I could not imagine anything better. I was not disappointed. This oil is great at removing mineral sunscreen and mascara while hydrating your face. It's honestly hard for me to say which I like better. This one does perhaps feel a little richer (so maybe its better for those with extra dry skin?) and it smells a little more like olive. I agree with another reviewer who said that this is a great way to double cleanse for those with dry skin. I cannot recommend DHC's cleansing oils enough. You cannot go wrong with this product.Alyssa

I must say that every Sulwhasoo product that I have tried so far has been amazing! The Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Oil is no exception. I have avoided oil cleanses for several years because I have oily skin and couldn't get through my head that oil attracts oil and it's great for removing makeup. This product gets all of the makeup, dirt, and grime off of my face quickly and easily. The cleansing oil has a very pleasant aroma and the texture is nice as well. It doesn't feel overly slick even though it's an oil. After using, my face feels clean, soft, and it looks radiant. I feel like using it almost looks better than when I apply my makeup because of the softness and the natural Glow that it provides. If you're looking for a gentle oil cleanser, this product might be perfect for you. I highly recommend it and would also suggest checking out other products from Sulwhasoo and or their parent company of AmorePacificVickiRofPa

Reviews:
For the past couple years I've gone through different oil and balm cleansers. Some would feel too stripping, while others left too much film residue and subsequently break me out. I never quite found a happy medium, but had settled with Ennature's skinpot for over a year. It'd perform okay with spf, but anything more like makeup and it would never fully clean without a second round. Once Susan dropped this, I immediately ordered it online and received it within a week. The texture is very thick and looks like a gel cleanser upon dispensing. I apply a good amount immediately to my face instead of rubbing my hands together as the product suggests: because it warms up too quickly and slides in-between my fingers before it can go on my face. When it gets on my cheeks, I swirl twice then stop and repeat the process on my neck so that the product has several seconds to melt. Then I use my fingertips to lightly glide and massage as usual. It actually doesn't emulsify as much as other pre cleansers, so you really only need wet fingertips to activate it. I do that for 10 seconds or less; I will say it does leave a slight film when rinsing, but it goes away when I use my second cleanser (vanicream). My face does feel soft afterwards. And after about a week now, I have yet to see breakouts either. I would have knocked the product down 1 star for the slightly annoying texture that has to warm up, but considering how well it cleans without the aforementioned problems above, I'm actually pretty darn surprised with how my skin has reacted. Crossing my fingers that it will stay this way!Canis M.
I recently purchased the Naturium cleansing oil alongside the Naturium cleansing balm to test them out interchangeably and see which I prefer. Long story short, I prefer the balm. HOWEVER, this is still a GREAT product. Each time I've used it, my skin is left feeling soft, clean, and hydrated. What it really comes down to for me is that I just prefer the texture of the balm to this cleansing oil. Even after rubbing the oil down and heating it up, it still feels pretty thick on my skin and doesn't give me that buttery glide that I've come to love from the cleansing balm. If you have more oily skin, I think this will be great for you because I could see a more oily skin texture allowing the cleansing oil to have more traction on the face. Me, I have very dry and sensitive skin, so I think the oil just gripped my skin a little too much, making it a little harder to work with and spread around. Regardless, if you've used cleansing oils in the past and have had good luck with them, I would definitely give this one a shot. Otherwise, if you're deciding between this or the cleansing balm and texture is important to you, the lighter, more buttery texture of the balm may be more your speed than this thicker oil.Bryce
Since Susan launched her skincare brand, I’ve been a huge fan of the greens cleanser, but was waiting for her to bring us an oil based cleanser since she is the queen of double cleanse. Finding something to replace a trusty $40 cleansing balm for my double cleanse has been difficult, but GIRL-this delivered! This is the first oil cleanser I’ve used that isn’t in a jar and on top of the ease of use, I am OBSESSED with how soft and nourished my acne-prone skin feels even after I do my second cleanse/put on intense prescribed topical treatments. As I’m going on an isolated road trip this week, I am relieved to know that I won’t be scrambling to pack a spatula for a clunky cleansing balm, but simply tossing this cute tube in my bag and know I can travel without the mess! For somebody who’s picky about introducing new products into my routine (for fear of breakouts), I am truly happy to say this is a new staple product for me! Highly recommend! Disclaimer: I’m 25, have had hormonal acne struggles since 2007, and have been properly double cleansing and seeing a derm since 2013, so this comes from somebody who’s tried more than enough product to praise one deservedly so.Cara K.

My skin is sensitive and got to the point of being bright red and painful from any product I would use. I decided to simplify my routine and only use skin care that was approved for eczema, even though I don’t have eczema. I used this product and the first aid beauty’s moisturizer, that’s it for about 6 months! This didn’t suddenly make my skin perfect but it did help my skin to repair its barrier and really calm down irritation. I am now able to use other products and mostly not have a reaction. I would recommend this product to anyone with very sensitive skin looking for a gentle cleanser. It will not remove makeup but will clean without drying or irritation.Kristi
What a game changer! I love the oil to foam texture of this product. I’ve tried other similar products but nothing comes close to this one. The oil doesn’t slide off but sticks to your skin and lathers beautifully, without stripping the skin. I plan to use this all over as a face wash, body wash, and even hand wash as it helps with my very dry, very sensitive skin on my hands. (I find that it works on many skin types as my face is on the oily/combination side but my body and hands are dry to very dry.) As always, I love that it’s fragrance-free as I cannot tolerate scents. Thank you, Avene!Livia P.
XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil is another great Avène cleanser. I use it on my face and I love that it doesn't feel like it is stripping my skin. It also doesn't feel like an oil to me. It rinses easily and my face is cleansed and calm. I started using the XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil when I was trying to recover from atopic dermatitis around my mouth. The XeraCalm A.D Lipid-Replenishing Cleansing Oil is soothing and my eczema redness is gone.. I hope the larger size becomes available soon. I am very happy with the results.Barbara C.
