Best Colorist For African American Hair (2024 Update)

Really impressed with this. I bought 7 Dark Blonde after a particularly bad 'balayage' job (mostly awful white/yellow highlights) and the colour has come out exactly as it's shown on the box. I still had my natural light brown roots and this has blended really well after being on for 20 minutes. It's obviously not the colour I wanted when I set out trying to be lighter with the initial balayage attempt, but it has rescued my hair from that disaster, and at least I can leave the house again without a hat! It's in no way very dark, and as it's a semi dye it will fade and the lighter colours will come through again a bit more in time. If you're despairing about a terrible blonde dye job and want to get back to a dark blonde/lighter brown then this is for you. I did use a purple shampoo on my hair a few days before I used the dye, although I'm not sure how much difference it made to this outcome. This dye seems to have redder tones to it after application which might freak you out initially, but it settles and blends. It does give good coverage, and the blonde comes through with subtle tones, so don't use it if you want to still be mainly a light blonde colour, you will most likely be the colour on the box. If you're looking for something to just tone down yellow brassiness then I don't think this will be for you, as I think it will initially cover your blonde. As ever, it's good to do a patch test if you're not sure you'll like the final results.Anna

So many reviews state the new formula is not as good as the old, I love the new formula. No burning on application, no hot roots, more even coverage. Many reviews also stated that the sheets are much darker than reflected on the box. For this reason I purchased suede light brown. It is so dark! Thankfully I don’t mind dark hair on myself. This is the only negative. My hair feels so soft and fluffy. And it was great at covering my greys! I will definitely purchase again. I used to color my hair with Clairol Natural Instincts about 10 years ago and never had an issue. With a special event coming up I decided to freshen my hair up with some color. Upon reading the instructions it seemed as if the product had improved since I last used it. I bought two packages, but one bottle covered my shoulder-length hair just fine. However, after applying and rinsing out the product as instructed, I noticed that my hair didn't feel very good. Back in the day it used to leave my hair super silky and soft, like a model in a shampoo commercial. But the real horror happened after I dried my hair and realized that the color I got was NOT the color on the box! I selected #4 dark brown to get a Hersheys dark chocolate color. Instead my hair came out looking like kona coffee grounds in water (aka, almost black). It looks completely unnatural and now I'm trying to desperately get it to wash out early. (In the shower for the first wash since coloring, my hair felt like even more of a bird's nest than when I rinsed the dye out. Bleh!) I have now sworn off hair dye for the rest of my life. It seems like every time you change the style of the Box, the formula changes. I have been using natural instinct for well over 10 years and I really like it, but it's getting harder to find the right color to use. I just. I just used Light golden Brown and now my hair is the medium to dark Brown it was when I was a teenager! Normally I would just color my roots, my hair on top of my head was almost blonde because of the gray underneath. But today, it is very obvious that I just colored my hair because it's not the same color at all. I will continue to use the product because it does a good job of covering the Gray. The color is Nutmeg, it’s one of the dark brown formulas. Very nourishing and easy to apply and spread through the hair. Im not used to the applicator bottle but surprisingly didn’t mind it. The smell isn’t too strong. I used almost the whole bottle, and I have thin/medium thick hair down to the middle of my back. Definitely buy two if you have long thick hair. Now, the color is darker than it said it would be. It’s borderline black or brown black, but I can tell it will fade nice. It doesn’t wash me out and I have pale skin with rosey undertones so I am thankful for that. I didn't approve or ask for this shade! I got starry black. I'm a natural blonde. In order for me to achieve black hair that doesn't turn green after the 1st wash,I would have to do a filler color first like a medium brown. I don't want to put all those chemicals on my hair. Plus I don't want black hair! I DID NOT USE THIS! I have used feria in the past though, I have used their bleaching kit and their auburn, red and black cherry shades. It is the only box dye I will use. It not only has an essential oil you add to it for a better smell but it also helps the hair feel softer and more hydrated as well as look shiny and healthy, well as healthy as dyed hair can look. For a box dye it's not bad. If I had gotten a color I approved of I totally would have used it! My daughter has medium golden brown hair and has been debating allowing me to use this on her. I’m not quite sure what people are doing wrong, but I have used this product for years if not decades to cover up grays. I have black/brown hair with bright white grays and I use the dark brown color. The color lasts for two months . I have no problem with matching- because the color always “reveals” itself at two weeks- which is normal for all box dye in my experience. I love everything about this kit. I purchase extra gloves nitrile, hair dye brushes, cheap butterfly clips and disposable shower caps. I do it on a day where my hair is greasy because I’m about to take a shower (this protects my scalp from the color and my hair from damage). I mix the color and developer together and let it sit while I rub the pretreatment in with my gloved hands. I shake up the color a lot (60 seconds!) and after I see actual color develop I shake it some more and then start applying. I apply to the top of my hair, brushing it in and then I clip that section off. I work in sections, top, sides and back and then let the dye work for 40 minutes from when I finish applying- cover it with a disposable cap so I don’t drip dye everywhere. I use all of the bottle for my shoulder length hair. This is key!!!! You need to let the part of your hair that is seen the most sit for the entire time. I rinse it out with cold water only (gloves!!!) and then add the conditioner (the whole tube) and let it set in my hair for 5 minutes (also in a cap) before rinsing it out with cold water and washing it with color safe shampoo in cold water. I do not apply this with a comb. There is a comb attachment- but I use a brush to spread it on my hair and the comb attachment to spread it on the brush. You want to paint your hair, soaking it with dye. The other trick is that when I shower, I condition first before I shampoo. This keeps the color in more and I get an incredible volume without my hair getting crunchy.tiziny

I picked this colour probably about 6 to 12 months ago. Wasn't sure about it at first. I have dark brown hair naturally. I usually dye it a chestnut colour. So this is a bit different than what I usually dye my hair with. But people have been complimenting how they love the colour my hair, so I kept it this colour since then, and I absolutely love it. It is my favorite colour for my hair. I really hope they don't discontinue this colour, as this will probably be my lifetime hair colour lol….. Although I'm having troubles finding it in stores right now, so it's making me a little worried that is just a limited time. And if that's the case, I don't know what to do for my hair colour. Go back to my chestnut colours. I do recommend this color and product. Love how it feels in my hair. My hair soft and the colour is very vibrant. It lasts long time. I do wash my hair with cool to cold water though. It helps keep the red bright longer. One thing though, it does continue to run every time you wash your hair so when your hair is wet it will stain your towels, or your shirts, or bed, or pillows. This is the first time I have ever dyed my hair, I’ve had naturally red curly hair all my life but wanted to change it up a bit. I’ve always wanted to dye my hair burgundy so I got shade BR2 passion fruit. I will say it is such a pretty color but it isn’t exactly like the picture on the box. I’m sure that’s to be expected especially since I already have natural red hair. The color turned my red hair into a darker color with purple undertones, there’s definitely a noticeable difference which is what I was looking for. The reason for 3 stars is because this hair dye smells absolutely HORRIBLE. The whole time I was applying it to my hair my eyes were watering as well as my nose burning. It felt like I had inhaled a ton of chemicals, even almost 10 hours later It still feels as if I’d inhaled chemicals. This was my first time dying my hair at home. I have medium brown hair and when longer it has natural highlights. Since I wear it short, the darker colors clash with the gray, so I got this since the box matched my natural color. It definitely covered all gray and was easy to apply (I used bowl and brush instead of squeeze bottle). However, it came out as a copper color highlighting my hair, not simple ash brown. I like the color, though! But it’s just not what was on the box. The other nice thing about this color compared to colors I’ve had at salons is it didn’t irritate my skin at all. I have very sensitive skin, and this didn’t sting or burn, like I’ve had from salons. Also a plus is the after color conditioner. It leaves your hair SOO soft and smooth. I had used Rainbow Henna before but decided to switch to Madison Reed for ease of use. I used it for a few years but really got sick of how it washed out and stained my towel and pillowcase for 3 days or more after use. My hair is usually dark brown with red highlights. Because of the amount of red left from using Madison Reed I chose black Rainbow Henna to cover over the red. The color is beautiful! It is a very dark brown. It is perfect. The red is covered and I love the rich color. I have a small amount of white hair around my temples, those were also covered. About 2 or 3 strands weren't, but I will make do better with application next time. I used coffee, apple cider vinegar and yogurt. The texture was easy to apply and left my hair feeling amazing! It hasn't stained my towel & nothing on my pillowcase. I rinsed my hair and only used conditioner. The following day I shampooed and condioned and the smell subsided. Henna is good Conditioner for hair It has been used since earlier days for beautifying hand with design and as a natural hair dye. but for coloration of hair you must apply it and cover Head with shower cap to avoid excess drying (which may cause breakage) .keep for 2 hrs at least (Avoid applying henna in cold weather or at evening time preferably at hot afternoon as henna is very cool in nature, may elevate cold and cough) you may add eggs, any your favourite oil 1 tablespoon, or yogurt for additional hair conditioning and will be easy to clean hair while wash. Use- For long hair, apply paste ( With handgloves to avoid nails and hand turning red) at centre of scalp area apply for all hair length n wrap clockwise bun of that strands and secure with extra henna paste. then continue like this for small sections immediately near first bun and wrap around first center bun, apply henna paste each time to secure bun. Love this. I used it back in my 20s when I had to protect my hair from product and heat damage, 90's hair!. It worked incredibly then. Now 30 years later using it to cover my grays. The smell isn't that great and smell lasts a week but I don't care because it makes my hair thicker with more highlights and its natural. My normal hair is medium to light brown with reddish highlights, and about 10% white-gray. so I used the medium brown henna added 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar hot extra thick coffee, put a hotel-type disposable shower cap and left on for 2 hours. I have being dying my hair bright, vibrant red for just over five years now, and Arctic Fox has been part of my color maintenance routine since day one. Vibrant red hair is not easy to maintain and keep from fading quickly, which can very quickly do serious damage to your hair if your only using ammonia-based chemical dyes every time you need to refresh your color. Arctic Fox doesn't damage hair at all. In fact, it helps undue the damage caused by permanent dyes because it doesn't have any harsh chemicals that strip hair. Arctic Fox is actually GOOD for your hair and works just like a conditioner, not like a hair dye. I add Arctic Fox to my regular conditioner (sulfate free of course) so that every time I wash my hair I'm also keeping my red looking vibrant and even healthier every time. I always wash my hair using the coolest water I can tolerate and after I shampoo I apply my premixed bottle of 3/4 sulfate free conditioner, 1/4 Arctic Fox Wrath + a dollop of Violet Dream and let it sit on my hair secured on top of my with a claw clip while I finish the rest of my shower routine, just like I would do with a nourishing hair mask. Once my routine is done, I rinse out my hair thuroughly in cool water and towel dry it only so I get the most out of conditioning my hair, and viola! My looks, feels softer and healthier than before I washed it, plus my red still looks like it did the day I first day I dyed it. It's a win win. Not only does Artic Fox keep my red looking great, but it leaves my hair healthier every time also. Plus the custom colors you can create by mixing different different Arctic Fox colors together are endless! I was amazed at the color i got by mixing Purple AF + a touch of Aquamarine! It sounds crazy to mix aquamarine and deep purple together, but the color came out a multidimensional dark blue/purple-ish color that changes color depending on how the light hits it. It's my new favorite color! It does come out very dark, so I apply it (no conditioner added) to the bottom 1/3 of my hair and lightly pull the color upwards into my red to get a perfect blended fade from bright red to deep blue/purple. I have virgin dirty blonde hair. I bought the shade Transylvania which is a pure black color. I applied it last night to my clean hair, no products or nothing in it and let it sit in foil for about 40 minutes. I didn't apply the dye to my whole head, I just wanted to add pieces here and there throughout my hair like I've done in the past. Upon rinsing my hair out with cold water and letting it dry I noticed how faded the black looks. In the shower the water ran blue. I know black dyes typically contain blue but this was like a vibrant blueish green. In artificial lighting the dye in my hair looks like a dark grey, but in the natural sunlight it looks like a greyish green which isn't very pretty at the moment. I'm going to give it one more go before I decide whether or not to return this. I usually LOVE arctic fox dyes and have never had issues before but this black dye really needs to be reformulated.Jen

I've been using Clariol T & T in lightest blonde for the past 25yrs. I absolutely love this color. Over time the scent of the conditioner changed. Original scent smelled better but it does what it's suppose to. Moisturizes well, hair is soft and manageable. So many peoples ask me how I got me hair the color it is, I tell them time, achieving this color didn't happen over night! Best hair color product for women of color, not harsh on the hair like other products on the market. Prior to going natural (8yrs) I was using kiddie perms (Just For Me) 2 or 3xs a year and continued to dye my hair. This color requires daily maintenance for moisture and keeping ends trimmed. I personally think this dye is great, but I can think of another brand that has more staying power and is cheaper, so for that reason I can only give this 4 stars. The tone of this pink is unique to pinks I have bought previously and I think that's great when wanting some dimension! The texture is hard to describe but not its really creamy or gel like. And I think it smells like peppercorn, which doesn't bother me. I find a tube of this goes a really long way too, which is fantastic! The staying power is pretty average for your vivid pinks. Its rare for them to last too long. But I touch mine up every few washes around the roots and let the rest fade to a pastel, so its no big deal.dominique.f

I recently tried this product for the first time and I think it’s now one of my favorites! I’ve gotten TONS of compliments since I used Blue Ruin and I’ve used them all, over the years. Warning: stuff is Pravana Vivids level of stainage. RIP to a couple of ratty old towels, lol. My hair is between a level 2-3 with grays and I bleach and then highlight it to level 7-8. Pro tip is that I mix this product with a little conditioner and Olaplex 3 and then leave it in my hair for 2 hours. It really saves it from being fried. I tried to manage my expectations a little with this product, as it’s recommended for light blonde or pre-lightened hair but mine was a balayage with dark blonde/light brown. Turns out it defied my expectations and still came out as a super vibrant red! My hair is chest length and the tube had just about enough to cover nearly my whole head (my roots are dark so I avoided those) with a small amount of conditioner mixed in to stretch it a bit further. I’m now on wash 3 or 4 and I’m surprised by how much colour is still in my hair! The vibrancy has been toned down but it’s definitely still red and I expect it will be for a while yet.Nicole

Color came our amazing exactly how I wanted only downfall is it did wash out quickly I even waited 72 hours before I washed my hair due to the recommendation of letting the color sit and not wash as much. I am an everyday hair washer due to how oily my hair is. After the 72hrs I washed hair every 48 to 72 hrs still color was fading everytime after 4 to 5 washes color is noticeably different. Used this color with 30 developer I wish they would make the color last especially since it's supposed to be permanent but the color was awesome while it lasted.erica.m

I like this product very much. To get this color I bleached my hair to a level 9 and then dyed my hair mixing this with a volume 30 cream peroxide all from the same brand. This one is in a cream consistency. Besides the fact that I like this color I also prefer this brand over others I've tried because in my opinion this brand smells less chemically intoxicating "I actually find the products kind of have a sligh parfum scent" plus I've also experienced less damaging with constant use. Tip……It also mixes very well with my conditioners "I prepared a mixture of conditioner and the tint to maintain the freshness of the hair color and used it every time I washed my hair after shampooing" just be aware that this is pigmented and it will get messy in the bathtub if not careful.xiomara.v

My experience here was a bit different than all other previous reviews, so take it as it is. I have very thin curly brown hair and this gave me a nice dark blonde colour. It looks very beautiful in terms of colour, has good coverage and is easy to mix and apply (although you need your own bowl and mixing tool). My hair is long but one box was enough and unlike all other dyes, it didn't bleed to the towel or pillow at all and didn't stain my skin. Now the cons: it has a VERY strong smell when applying! Not sure how everyone is saying it smells good… the smell goes away the next day, but do not apply in a closed space. Also, and this made me fear for my life: my hair got extremely dry right after washing the dye off… it felt like I was touching hay and not hair. I was shocked!! Even after the conditioner from the box, my own conditioner, it felt like it was ruined… only after a week or so of putting leave in conditioner everyday and not using shampoo it got back to normal, so beware you may need to do some extra conditioner care afterwards (this never happened to me before with any other dye). I buying this for my mom. she has 100 % of grey hair. and previously she tried many brands, and no any of them could stay and last more than a 2 weeks. She tried Herbatint and she got amazed. It covered all 100% of her grey hair and still lasting and it us already 2nd month now. Only the new growing hair is grey, So she just need to color the roots. But the rest hair is remaining the color. This Brand is the best. And absolutely chemical free. Because even it drop on clothes after washing it easily gone. I mixed this color (5D light golden chestnut) with 7D (golden blond). The ratio is one unit of developer to one unit of color. So I used a half unit of each color to equal one color unit and blended that with one unit of the developer. The remaining color that I didn't use from each bottle will be used next time, so I get two uses out of each box. I chose to blend those two colors to try to get close to my natural shade, which is a light brown with some golden strands and some hints of red. I did a bunch of research before I bought these colors. I learned that the same shades act differently on all different people and just accepted that I wouldn't be able to predict the exact outcome. If you want to be more sure of the actual result, you can save your hair from the shower for a week and then use that as a test to see how the color takes to your hair. Who knew there'd be a use for that annoying shower hair! My results were quite dark the day that I dyed it — it was a rich chocolate tone. It lightened up after a few washes. It's now been more than a week since I colored it and it looks great. I have about 20% gray and it covered them well. I like that the formula doesn't have a harsh chemical scent. Please note that the packages don't include a bowl to mix the solution in or an applicator for putting the mixture in your hair' plan accordingly so you have the materials on hand. I like this dye…i like that it is less chemicalised than other dyes. I have used it for 3 years now. This shade perfectly matches my natural hair colour. Application is very easy. I love all the enclosed conditioners, they are great for my hair. They make it feel soft and moisturised. My hair has actually improved in texture and management. I started using it to dye my prematurely greying hair but the treatments are turning out to be a very lovely unexpected bonus. I do have to re-dye about every 2 – 3 months. I have been contemplating doing Henna for some time now. Normal hair dye has started to take a toll on me with severe migraines, and discomfort from hair coloring. I'm not 40 yet so the idea of graying and not dying my hair was very scary. With that being said I am so happy I found this hair dye! I received this product and was eager to trial it. There’s nothing quite like a colour touch up to make you feel a little more refreshed and energised! The product was super easy to use and everything needed was contained in one compact box. I followed the directions with ease and all progressed to plan. The end result was reasonably true to the desired colour although my hair did end up more orange than I had anticipated. I accept this can happen with hair colours because there are so many factors that contribute to the end result. The hair colour did address my primary concern – covering the dreaded greys! The smell was not offensive as can happen with some brands and I liked the fuss free application process. A major benefit is the convenience of doing this at home at a time that suits me and a cost that is budget friendly! I have had my colour now for a week and the colour at this stage is still looking fresh with great coverage. I would suggest that anyone with thick hair or very long hair should invest in two packets and not chance a dye disaster!! I have long hair but it is very thin so one packet for me was sufficient. I received this hair dye to trial as part of the Beauty Review Crew. I have used this brand of hair dye a few times over the past couple years. In particular, I have used the shade 'Darkest brown' which is the same shade I'm trialing today. The shade has always been is a lovely vibrant colour and the colour result is similar to my natural hair colour. The dye promises to 100% grey hair coverage and it lives up to its promise. Preparing the dye for application is nice and easy. After applying the gloves that are included in the packaging, you pour the colour formula into the bottle of developer before placing the lid back on and shaking the bottle until completely mixed. It's that easy! Then starting at the roots, you evenly apply the dye. The dye goes on smoothly and, surprisingly, the dye scent isn't as strong as other brands. Other brands tend to have a strong chemical smell which makes my eyes water and nose tingle when breathing it in. Clairol have done a great job at producing a hair product with a low scent. One of the best things about Clairol's nice n' easy hair dyes is the short processing times. Unlike other brands that have a processing time of upwards to an hour to reach your desired shade, these dye have an average processing time of just 25 minutes. The short processing time means you can dye your hair during your lunch break, before a night out, or before a date, without it taking up too much of your time. The rinsing process is also quite a smooth and easy process. After applying some warm water, give your hear/head a little massage and then rinse until the water runs clear from all the dye. It normally takes around two minutes for the water to run clear. Then using the conditioning Clairol conditioning treatment that comes with the hair dye, you apply from roots to tips and leave for a couple minutes before rinsing. The conditioning treatment has a lovely scent and is nice and thick. It's almost like applying a luxurious hair mask. It glides onto the hair smoothly and evenly. After rinsing the conditioning treatment you can instantly feel how hydrated you hair feels. Dying your hair often dehydrates it and your hair can feel a little worse for wear. Clairol's hair dyes are gentle on your hair and the conditioning treatment prevents damage and keeps your hair hydrated and feeling lovely. After towel-drying my hair, I blow-dried my hair until was dry. Looking in the mirror you could instantly see how vibrant and lovely the hair colour result was, and it looked and felt really healthy. I am always so very impressed with the results every time and I often get compliments from friends and family members. As my hair grows fairly quickly, I use this product every 2-3 months to help cover grey hairs. Despite dying my hair so regularly, my hair has remained healthy and manageable, and hasn't compromised my hair in any way. The only downside I can mention is that the dye stains your skin. Normally hair spray or acetone on a cotton ball or cotton pad helps remove hair dyes from skin but I found this dye to be lot stronger and barely budged from the skin. I also tried scrubbing with soap and dishwashing detergent but the dye only faded slightly. It took a few days of scubbing before the dye faded completely. Staff Review by BC's Tamara I'm not going to lie – I have greys. Lots of them. But the Clairol Nice'n Easy Permanent Hair Dye did a mighty fine job of making them disappear! I have actually used this dye in the past, and can't recommend it enough. The range of colours on offer is wonderful as there is something there for everyone. I have dull brown hair, so usually opt for a warm shade to brighten my colour – I used the Medium Chestnut Brown 5RB. The instructions are clear and easy to follow and after spending 10 mins applying the product as thoroughly as I could, it took a simple 25 minutes to penetrate before washing it out and conditioning. The colour completely covered my greys (which was my main objective), but overall my hair looks so much healthier as it is shiny and the colour has more life to it. My favourite thing about this dye is that the colour brings out the natural highlights I have and it looks really natural. At $12.99 the Clairol Nice'n Easy is a bargain as it is a high quality product and I would recommend it!BC's Tamara C.

This is a great permanent men's hair color. It takes 5 minutes for haircolor to works and it lasts up to 6 weeks. The instructions are very easy to understand. This is so easy to use. There are three different shades available. I will buy this again.Dee4ever

The Dark & Natural Permanent Men’s Hair Color is a great product, that gives your hair the actual color that you see featured on the box! This dye did not have any strong odors. It blended easily, washed out well and gave the hair a true, jet black color. The only issues, were that the gloves did not fit well and if one has a lot of hair, it’s just enough for a shorter length.Lela

I like this product plus as we all get older we are tending need something to cover up our gray hairs. One of the things I like about this product is that it works and just five minutes so just not take a bunch of time for this procedure to be done. Another thing I really like about this product is that it's ammonia-free so no weird smells. This year alone I had red, turquoise, green, purple and some attempts to blonde hair at home. It was extremely damaging to my hair and I could not tone it for dear life. Revlon saved the day! I really want to find their mushroom blonde, I am dying to try it but I used the soft black for my root shadow, it helped with the orange and looked soft and natural. Before caving in to trying the $3.50 hair color I used Ion from Sallys, loreal and garnier olia (which is also good but fades super fast) Also I dampened my roots for a softer root shadow. Rinse in cold water so it doesn’t transfer to your blonde. It worked beautifully. 100% would be trying their other colors.sarah.o

So I have dark brown Indian hair with grays in the front and temple area.. My hair color is what Caucasian people call being a brunette but it’s not black by any means. I have bought so many different shades of brown from this line from Revlon and other brands hoping to achieve the color that the model on the 20 brown black box have. That’s what my original hair color is. So when I bought number 20 and colored my hair, it turned it to almost black. So I bought lighter shades, some didn’t work at all on my gray hair. The only reason I’m coloring my hair is because it’s gray and I’m not ready for that yet. Yesterday I bought 27 deep rich brown hoping to achieve the brown color it shows on the box and also knowing that it’ll be darker than the box but it would not be black. Unfortunately it’s still too dark for my liking. It covered all my gray but my hair is almost black. Since it’s permanent, I’m not sure it’ll lighten up with washes. Going to try even lighter shades once my gray roots start showing. My roots show after a week or so, so I will look for another color and hopefully get a close match my hair color. I don’t get why they put models with a different shades of hair vs what you actually get. That’s just confusing to me and misrepresentation of the hair color. 3 stars for the cost.Love to shop

Easy to use. Very very natural color. I have to use an old towel for a few days due to color coming out, but that's not unusual. I use their brown and copper browns and love the red hint without any hint of purple that some of the reds have. A very natural reddishness in some of them. Will continue to use.K8f118

I have been using Herbatint for about 10 years, did try different colors combinations: red, brown, blond.—never disappointed with the condition of my hair after coloring. Then i decided to try the Naturigin brand. First i google it—brand from Denmark. I sought why not. Color—light Ash blond is as pictured—true Light Ash blond, but my hair felt so dry—like a hay. I tried differend moisturizer, but damage has been done. I have fine hair and i believe whatever was in this color was too strong for my hair type—it burned and got a lot of breakage. it’s never happened to me after using the Herbatint. Love this product. Makes my hair so soft and I love the color! In the spring I put highlights in my hair from a professional, this is my base color and it looks great together. My hair is already dark so this color just lightens it a little like 10 shades lighter. I use this color 2 times a year to cover my highlights for the fall and one more before the highlights end of spring. I have long curly hair and this product prevents any damage and breaking of my strands. The product also came pretty quick and before expected.rebeccnicho_0

I was an Aveda hair colorist for 5+ years. They have a amazing, customizable color line. The education you receive and require is superb. Aveda is truly a unique color system. Aveda color allows any colorist to have creative freedom. I learned with color using Aveda but i know the learning curve maybe a little overwhelming for someone who has never used this. Make sure you get the correct developer that goes with the dye. I have used Aveda shampoo and hair dye for about 5 yrs. However, this time I ordered a different developer and it didn't work with the dye. This is the first time that has happened and this is the first time I have used this Aveda developer. Do a search on what goes with what.w

I have very light gray coming in on my sides and wanted to cover it for a bit longer. My natural colour is dark ash blonde. So I chose Revlon 60. I left it on longer as per the instructions for covering gray which it supposedly does 100% and had good hair saturation. And 5 minutes prior to rinsing I combed the remainder through my hair. I'm experienced with box colouring. Result? Red and patchy gray coverage. It's a cheap colour so I shouldn't be surprised. I do not recommend. At all.Jo

I recently purchased 2 boxes of Revlon Colorsilk Honey Blonde #42 and I was disappointed by the products results for my daughter's 3b/c dark brown hair. The product doesnt lift the hair color enough to show and all around color difference on the hair. It was inexpensive and cheap on quality. 2 bottle of the shade wasn't enough. DARK AND LOVELY OR CREME OF NATURE OR FADE RESISTANT BY D/R is far a SUPERIOR product and in my opinion, better quality for African American Hair where you outstanding results and are not cheated out of your money, time, self- esteem. Okay, I purchased this to do my own hair and my extensions. First off, my hair and the extensions were the same color (dark blonde). This dye did NOT turn my hair the same color as it turned the extensions. My hair looks like a dark chestnut brown, now… while my extensions look red. Neither have a plum component, which is the base color highlighted on the box. This isn't burgundy, nor is it deep burgundy. My hair looks awful and the only thing I can do now is dye my hair and extensions a different color. I'm deeply upset about this.Aly B

For a back story I am a natural sandy brown and my hair is in a mohawk currently. So I purchased the iroiro neon blue and first I did a bleach kit as I mention darker natural hair as I wanted to get the full effects of the neon. So bleached first then onto the color. I applied the color and left it on for 45 minutes so that i would get the bright vibrant blue i wanted. 45 minutes later i wash dye out under cold water as warm will fade it, didnt want that. However I have been dying hair for 20+years so I'm experienced and know what I'm doing. I am almost a week out and I literally look like I used one of the 1q 0 washes dye because I havent washed it yet but it looks as if I've pretty much combed it right out. This is by far the worst hairdye I have ever used. I've used numerous brands and numerous different colors and I will never purchase this brand again. I would not recommend it as it does not do what it stands behind. Worst product ever.lyndi.t

Ive used multiple Iroiro colors by now (Plum, Pink, Yellow, and one of the blue colors) and I love them. The smell is FANTASTIC, my hair feels great, and the price is worth it. The pouches are so convenient and much easier than having to shake the last bits of dye in a squeeze bottle (aka Arctic Fox). Also the colors, especially pink, last a good while and fade nicely. I just used a mix of plum, pink and yellow on dyed brown hair for a nice color tiny and it looks beautiful in the sun. Definitely recommend. Also cruelty free and thats always important!rebekah.a

This product worked wonderfully. I used L’Oreal colorista for brunettes to make a conditioner to put on my hair first. This is a true burgundy plum on medium brunettes. It came out so red I was impressed. Not that messy imo. My only regret is that this color looks better when I’m pale in winter. Can’t wait to tone it with a true violet. So far Amika violet toning drops are helping make it a bit less extreme. Great color payoff, environmentally friendly packaging, minimal damage. I did not put conditioner underneath to open my cuticle for scalp oil. Great technique for oily scalps. Love. Bought this from Sally’s it was affordable. Easy to stretch too.sheri .h

This is the FIRST (and really ONLY)hair color that I've used that isn't entirely gone and faded in a couple weeks. The irony is that when it's time to move onto a different color or I want to change it up, I have no issues getting it out! I personally prefer the shade cotton candy (and it looks intimidating in the bottle as if it would be too bright, but it's not). Okay so I usually don't do anything to my head unless it's getting done at my favorite salon girl but with quarantine I decided to take a leap of faith my god this product did not disappoint at all! It was super adorable pretty sure I paid under $7 for this tiny bottle. Yes the bottle may look tiny but it did not disappoint! It was soo pigmented better than the maniac crap that washes out almost immediately! This has had such a beautiful vibrant pink color for over a month with multiple washes! Heyyyyy… let me start by saying this dye works miracles. I had burgundy hair and I tried a specific brand of blue dye that turned my hair into a rainbow Couple weeks after I bought and adore red semi permanent dye and decided to try it in my rainbow hair. I was a bit pessimistic because the first one was a failure and I wasn’t bleaching it or anything just apply red dye Let me sayyyy!!! The result blew my mind… all my hair was bright red and beautiful. It was just even with color vibrant and everybody liked it. It didn’t stain my hair line because I used Vaseline but the results really shook mekelia.s

Super easy to use, you have got to try this! Use on pre-lightened hair for processing. This formula does not mix with developer which makes it even more convenient to use! Literally, just apply to the hair (generously) and let it process. Make sure sections are fully saturated with product. Let process 25-45 min and voila! I got this color after a good talk with a rep @ Salon Centric, I wanted a cute color but not too distracting bc of work. She picked this purple for me but I never committed till recently! I got a more blunt mullet and I figured I deff need a color to match the edge and this was insanely pigmented 😻 so glad this was the color she recommended bc it wasn’t muted but also not a neon green scary color. I was scared it would be more dark but did it anyway and it wasn’t at all it was a super saturated purple …a blueish purple for sure. I went to the beach and it of course took most of the color out BUT it faded nicely and I had about 4 shampoos of decent color after that beach trip! So it deff has lasting power I left it in my hair for an hour – as it faded it became more of a lilac pastel purple 🥰🥰vanessa.z
