Best Commercial Vacuum For Pet Hair (2025 Update)

Even though I own a robotic vacuum, this vacuum is easier and better to use on my hardwood floors especially in my main living room area where I have lots of plants that drop lots of dead leaves and moving them around would be too difficult. The vacuum works efficiently over carpeted area as well, but I actually find it to be less work than the robotic model because I don't have to move objects, or wires out of the way first. The robot can get caught on those. I don't find residue left behind even on my wood floors, it sucks up all the dirt, leaves, soil and such. Strong, reliable, does the job of boy scouts keeping the scout hut clean. Emptying the dust bag can create dust, I do it outside. The belt can wear, keep a spare, espcially if string or other material keeps the brush from turning. But it is much better than all the new compex looking units with plastic compartments, hoee between sections for my application.ditherjitter

Honestly haven’t had any major complaints about the vacuum. We do have kids so we use it probably every other day to 2 days. It’s a compact vacuum which is a plus. The one tiniest complaint I’d have is after going back and forth a couple times there are some items that you would think the vacuum would pick up, but doesn’t. Instead, I use the detachable wand for those odd pieces. I should clarify, the vacuum has picked up 99% of what is seen on the carpet. It’s just those random odd stragglers and it doesn’t happen every time. As for our tiles, I just use the wand to pick up anything necessary then jet swift it but that’s a different product.GL

To start off I would have to say that the Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright vacuum is a high quality performing product. There is very great suction when it comes to pet hair and even popcorn in the carpet that my child had spilled. The spinning brush is adjustable to many settings. Such as bare floor to higher profile carpet. It does a great job of pulling dirt and hair out of my medium profile carpet. It isn't to heavy so when I use the extended hose handle I can carry it from place to place. One thing in was not a fan of was the multi dusting piece. It was a little to bulky to fit into my window seal to get that dirt out. The smaller end was also not long and thin enough to fit into my dryer vent. The dusting piece also added extra unnecessary bulk. It is a nice concept but it isn't as great as the individual pieces. Other than my opinion on the duster, I really enjoy and love my Dirt Devil Endura Max Upright vacuum. If you are contemplating this purchase, I recommend you try this product. Other than marrying my ex husband, buying this vacuum was the worst decision of my life. It is bulky and cheap plastic. Extremely loud and makes my arm go numb from all of the vibration! It has a "hardwood" setting but the brush still spins in that setting, which can scratch the hardwood. I was excited about the pet brush attachment, but is doesn't really work since the attachment will NOT stay on the hose or in the attachment holder, for that matter. It does not have much suction, I feel running a lint brush over the carpet would pick up more! I won't even give this vaccum away because I wouldn't want anyone to hate me!BBB Customer

This vacuum is good for its price. It is mainly plastic construction but it holds up with normal use. The power cable is two pieces (short length attached to the vacuum and a long extension) that is heavy duty and weighs a lot more than standard vacuums.wiz240

I bought this Oreck XL Commercial floor sweeper as a brand-new backup unit for an existing Oreck Xl home vac that I bought back in the 1990's. The original one still works just fine and the only maintenance it has ever required, other than bag changes, was a single drive belt replacement. The Oreck XL is a workhorse floor/carpet sweeper! And, the best part is that I recently got this brand-new one for $200, which is less than half of the price I paid for my original Oreck XL, back in the 1990's. The Oreck XL Commercial vacuum is light in weight (8 pounds). The low profile makes it incredibly easy to slide underneath a bed (you can even store it under there, between uses). It has a very comfortable ergonomically-designed handle with readily accessible on/off control switch. Each vacuum bag is top-loading and holds an incredible amount of debris. 5/15/19 I did a lot of research before I chose to get one of these. I found out that the motor is only a 4 amp motor and I wondered if that was going to be powerful enough to do a good job. (I knew the motor was very long lasting.). I figured that because the discharge bag downstream of the motor was so much larger then comprable vacuums, that there would not be much back pressure on the motor and so by design, you probably don't need such a powerful motor. I also figured, that if you design a vacuum cleaner right, why would you need a 10 11 12 amp motor? I like the fact that it had a good quality cord that you didn't have to bend over to wrap the cord up it had a big bag so you didn't have to constantly buy bags did it was durable, because it is what janitors use and hotels across the country. I also know that my carpet was not a shag carpet it was a lower carpet and it was a hardwood floor. So I figured I would buy it from Walmart and try it and if I don't like it I can get my money back. WOW!!! I am so impressed with this machine! It picks up like you would not believe everything and I love the fact that you don't need a motor that is so powerful it belongs on a saw to cut wood. I love not having all these gadget cheap accessories that falling off all the time. I love being able to get underneath stuff. I love the lightweight. I love the switch on the handle in case I suck up a sock or shoelace. so that I can shut the motor off before I burn up a belt. I love the fact there's a spare belt underneath. I love the heavy-duty cushioning around the motor housing. And I really like the way the brushes are set up the beater bars very well-designed very simple very rugged very durable. (I believe in keep it simple KISS.)! So what if it's a tad noisy. Our Princess vacuum just died. We have always had problems finding bags for it anyway… We received a used Oreck as a gift many years ago and it still runs and cleans super. We still wanted a second vacuum on the top level. Well, that was a no brainer. The Oreck is very lite and easy to maneuver. Best vacuum cleaning we have ever seen.Brian

SC679j is a powerful, quiet and easy to use vacvume. Pay particular attention to the band, if installed improperly (like mine was from the vender) it will burn out quickly. Good news, bands are cheap and easy to replace! Air quality is decent. Cord length is typical. Avaliability of replacement parts is a plus! Hints at longevity.. So far I really like this vacuum. It works much better then a regular residential and is quite a bit tougher. And I like the shake out bag and that i can fix future issues myself since you can buy replacement parts. The only reason I knocked off one star is because the vacuum is quite heavy and awkward to lug around. Have paid much more in the past for this same vacuum. Several years ago I noticed while traveling that many of the hotels I stayed at used this vacuum(brand) in their housekeeping departments. I figured if it's good enough for their rigorous schedules it should be good enough for my home. I have not been disappointed. This vacuum works great on both long carpet and rugs to hardwood flooring. Highly recommend. I owned a Dyson for around 12 years, but when it quit, Shark was highly recommended. I chose this model because it claimed to be good for pet owners, like many other models of the brand. I have to say that I've never been more disappointed in a vacuum. Here are some of the things I noticed: First off, it's awkward in regards to weight distribution. The thing tips over incredibly easy. Second, the cord is much shorter than what I was used to with the Dyson, meaning it had to be unplugged and moved around a lot. Third, it has to be emptied a lot. It just doesn't hold much, and is a mess to empty. Lastly, it's narrow head means it's going to take twice as long to cover the area you're working on. The worst part about this vacuum is that I just bought it in January (@ $179), and my carpet looks just awful. Almost right after vacuuming, you can't tell it was ever done, so the lack of cleaning over time has really aged my carpet that wasn't very old to begin with. I know this brand gets compared to Dyson all the time, with claims of equal or superior performance, but the people who say this couldn't possibly have actually owned a Dyson. They are not equal in any way, shape, or form. It's not even been a year and I'm already looking to replace it. I fear if I don't, I'll have to replace my carpet at a much larger cost.Burgster

I was blown away when I first got this vacuum in September 2018, in fact I think I wrote a review. It picks up pet hair more than the Dyson and Oreck I’ve owned. The furniture attachment is amazing at removing fur! However, 14 months later and I ended up here looking for Black Friday / Cyber Monday vacuum sales because mine is falling apart. That actually started fairly soon after purchasing, but it did such a great job I ignored it. I did call QVC in January I think, about the carpet attachment not working and was told to call Shark directly, whom I never was able to get ahold of due to wait times, time zone difference etc. So 4 months after buying a new 200 vacuum I was using my old Oreck on the few carpeted/rug areas of my house and just using the new Shark to de-fur the furniture and the wand attachment. And even that is not fun because it tips over every 2 seconds. It still picks up nicely but the plastic inside the canister is breaking, the hose is worn out and I’m tired of having to us two vacuums. So while the performance of this vacuum was good, it’s cheaply made exterior makes it not worth the trouble.EBL47

I regret buying this vacuum and paid over $200 at Menards in Lansing Michigan. If I could sell it I would! The cord at the base of the vacuum is in the wrong place. I am constantly tripping over it even if I try to secure it in the handle. Cleaning out the plastic bin is a mess I have to now put on gloves with a damp paper towel to clean it properly. I have long hair which when cleaning my hair is wrapped around the roller that I have to cut out and pull to remove it. The attachment/hose on the vacuum is to tight I have to hold the base and vacuum with the attachment in the other hand to prevent it from falling on the floor or hitting my legs. The cleaning power of this machine are incredible. I am very pleased with the performance thus far. I would liked to have known that the stock bag cannot accept a paper / hepa filter and results in a messy debris dump. On a 10 point scale, with 1 being worse & 10 best, it is easily a 9. Very good vacuum cleaner. Not pretty, not fancy, but functional. We found that it actually works better on our plush carpet when run on the low speed. In this way, it doesn't suck the carpet up into the rotating brush, which makes it harder to push. Even on low, it creates PLENTY of suction.R.

This vacuum was recommended for use on my new wool carpet. Gentle brushes that are suppose to just skim the surface of the carpet to avoid carpet damage and fuzzing. It seems to work fine, but I sort of miss attachments.Marty

I bought this vacuum when I got married and had my own apartment to vacuum. This vacuum is great! It is carpet only vacuum and it does carpet right! We had this vacuum growing up. My mom had to replace it after 10+ years (and three kids – two boys, imagine the number of legos this thing ate :). This is a very awesome vacuum. It was very easy to assemble and has so much going for it. I appreciate that it has a HEPA filter system. We have two German Shepherds that shed a lot and leave lots of dog hair all over. I have allergies so this having strong and deep cleaning is wonderful. Comes with lots of attachments, has LED lights for anytime vacuuming, a super long cord to help me clean under every nook and cranny. Fits perfectly under much of my furniture to make vacuuming less of a chore. Workorks well on carpeted rooms as well as my hardwood floors. Love that aspect. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I would recommend this vacuum for large spaces that need to be frequently vacuumed. Not the best for homes with lots of furniture and tight spaces because of the size. I would imagine this product will hold up for many years to come!L.L.

I use the Proteam ProForce in my cleaning business. It is a excellent vacuum and has several advantages over other vacuums. It is made on the same pattern as an Electrolux upright vacuum. It uses the same bags. The hose and wand are very useful and save time from having to put the hose in to vacuum areas. It has great suction. The only fault I have with the machine is the material it is made from. I have trouble with parts breaking off of the machine – like the area around the wheels, cord holder, etc. The plastic is brittle. Of course it could be my employee's lack of care with the machine. Another problem is the cord twists on the machines that my employees after a few months of use. I have purchased over 15 of these vacuums in the last 3 years. I still have one of the first vacuums with no problems. All of my employees have had their vacuums replaced more than once. For home use I believe that this vacuum would last a long time without the concerns that I stated above.islandbeachwalker

We bought this vacuum in October to clean our offices at work. Within 2 weeks the belt broke, no big deal. We bought a pack of 10 belts at that time for future use. It is now June, and we are down to one belt left of the 10 because they brake so often. But we go to use this vacuum today and it wont turn on! Not sure yet how to rate this vacuum. I recently bought this model as a replacement for model nv681. I like the features of the Shark vacuum, but it didn't last the full 5 years. It began literally falling apart after about 4 and one half years. The brush roller is literally hanging on by a thread. I hope the new one holds up better and longer that my first one, and performs at least as well as the first model. Also the customer service for Shark needs much improvement. When I called to get some answers, I got a major run around. There is no one to talk to when trying to get answers about problems. I would recommend this vacuum with reservations.Rita

I am a vacuuming obsessed weirdo! I just love to vacuum for some reason. I love the before and after and love the feeling of having a nice clean floor. That being said I tried out all kinds of other vacuums while never really finding one that was great until I bought this vacuum. It's got everything I wanted in a vacuum! I should have known to stick with Shark because I have an old lift away professional that I've had for well over 10 years!. It's even still going strong after all the abuse I've put it through but it's just time for a new one. Only reason I tried switching brands is because the upright sharks are quite heavy and I now have stairs in my place that are hard to clean witha a heavy uptight.. After multiple failures with other popular brands I found this one that converts into a canister vac making it much lighter to use on stairs. I'm in love with this thing. It works so well and it's super powerful with all the bells and whistles that I could ask for. The LED lighting on the pull out wand is a huge plus! Lights up anything I'm trying to vacuum. I vacuumed my bedroom soon as I got it right after vacuuming with a popular Eureka that I had previously bought and it was amazing what this vacuum picked up that was left behind by the Eureka. We bought this 3 years ago and the hose split along the ridges. We use it less then the recommended cleaning regimen that carpet manufacturers recommend (daily). Shark claims it's not under the 7 year warranty because we sweep to much.

If your product can't hold up to reasonable use then it's worthless and I'm taking my business elsewhere.

I also find all the nooks and crannies this vacuum has hard to keep clean (canister, wand attachment for furniture top guard thing)

The Shark Rotator Lift-Away DuoClean Pro really impresses and will surely take care of all your cleaning needs. Out of the box, the Shark comes nicely packaged with easy to understand quick assembly guide. Fully assembled, the vacuum is heavier than my current Shark by about 5-6lbs, but my current model (the Rotator Powered Lift-Away Speed) is meant to be lighter. While it is heavier, it still maneuvers like a nimble sports car in and around furniture. The swivel joint that connects the handle to the floor unit makes vacuuming an ease and kind of fun. Put on some music and clean to the tunes! The lift away function allows you to cut some of the weight should you need to clean furniture, stairs, or other tight areas. The suction on this vacuum is amazing. Just like with my previous model, you really have no clue how dirty your carpet is until you over it with the Shark. What appears in the canister is SHOCKING. While the size of the canister is pretty standard, at less than 1/2 gallon, it can fill up without reducing suction. When full, emptying the canister is simple. There's no twisting or turning, just pushing a simple release latch button to disconnect the canister from the vacuum and then pushing another button at the bottom of the canister where all of the dirt and debris cleanly falls into the trash bin. This vacuum works so well that you'll likely need to empty it multiple times, but that's a good thing because you know you're getting things cleaner! The LED lights are another excellent feature of this Shark. They provide bright lights at almost floor level. Because of their low angle, you'll be able to see things on the floor that you weren't able to see with overhead lights alone. The DuoClean brush (standard vacuum brush + the hard floor brush) really improves this model over my previous vacuum. I have both carpets, rugs, and hard wood floors. While my previous vacuum did an excellent job at carpets, it wasn't so great at hard wood floors. It's powerful suction would suck in any debris, but hardwood floors can be dusty. Even using the carpet brush didn't completely clean the floors. With this this models hard floor brush, it actually buffs and dusts the hard wood floors while also sucking in any loose debris! This makes me so happy because no one really enjoys having to sweep or mop in addition to vacuuming. Lastly, the Power Pet Brush is great–especially for those with pets. Despite my best efforts, my cat will inevitably crawl on uncovered parts of the couch. After not much time at all, his hair becomes entangled and weaved into the fabric of the couch. I'm still baffled how this happens, but it does. Brushing and sucking alone is not sufficient to remove these hairs. However, the Power Pet Brush's suction and vigorous active brush roll get my furry friends leftovers off the couch so that it looks brand new. If you have pets, you know what I'm talking about and this tool will be your new best friend! In conclusion, I love this vacuum. It makes cleaning easy, effective, and efficient! It will be an excellent addition to your household. Vaccuum itself picks up debris great. I received a broken model where the wand doesn't release/click back in appropriately. I contacted Shark, as there is supposed to be a 5 year warranty – but this doesn't cover the wand defect. Because I didn't use the wand feature or realize this in the first 2 months of use , it was too late to return and Shark customer service wouldn't replace the wand part. Frustrating for such a high dollar purchase. But if you get a fully functioning unit – it is probably great!kal22

This thing is amazing. I bought to replace my 7 year old shark vacuum. While my old shark worked great, I figured it was time to upgrade to something targeted toward homes with pets. It amount of dirt it pulls from the carpet is incredible just like any shark vacuum. The bonus is the way it deals with pet hair. I haven't had a problem with cat (or human) hair getting stuck in the primary roller. The plush roller on the front is great for hardwood floors and I was shocked just how gross it can get even when the house is cleaned multiple times a week. It's like a magnet for dirt! I got this on sale during black friday and was easily the best impulse purchase I made last year. You won't be disappointed if you get this! The touchless vacuum is absolutely terrific at picking up whatever dirt or debris you sweep near it. You can choose to put it on automatic mode, where it will pick up anything that comes close to it, or you can put it on manual mode, where you push a button near the floor to pick up what you have swept close to it. It has great suction & picks up everything quickly & efficiently. When you have filled the inside section that holds all the debris, you just easily pull it out, dump it, & put it back. It takes several weeks of cleaning the house to fill up this internal debris holding section of the vacuum. I am very impressed with this vacuum, cleaning has never been so easy!Beth

I purchased the EyeVac Pro because I don't need a full size vacuum for my studio apartment. I have hardwood floors and thought that this product would be ideal for the daily sweeps of random hair, dust, etc. The EyeVac has great suction, however, when you sweep hair, random particles like string, etc does not get deposited into the container, instead it gets stuck in the filter. After a few sessions the suction is gone. Don't mistake this for large amounts of particles, I am very tidy and live alone. So it is just the random particles that are brought into the apt on a daily basis. I am not a person that returns used items, but, in this case, I returned the item after a few months of giving it a good try. QVC was very gracious to accept the return and credit my account.JovialGina

I wasn't sure about this, but returns to my local BBB store are straightforward so I decided to give it a shot. We have dogs (so clean up hair constantly). I had read that some newly constructed home have these built into the kick spaces or walls. I set it up in my laundry room, it works great ! It is ideal if you use swiffers or other similar things, which never get up all of the debris on the floor. I steer the swiffer to the eye-vac and POOF ! This is a great vacuum cleaner, very well made and does a wonderful job on carpet and hard floors. I like the long wand and the attached dusting brush, no lost parts here, it is a little heavy but that's okay with me. If I were to change anything I would make the wand a quick draw like my Sanitaire 6600, it's kind of a pain to stop, move two setting and then use the wand, small stuff though compared with the quality of the machine. I own three commercial Sanitaire vacuums and I think they compare well to the expensive German imports.022849
