Reviews:
It is relatively light weight, seems to have good speed control and adequate power. The balance is excellent. So far I am very pleased with it. I have only used it for light wok, although that is what I bought it for. A bench drill that gets a lot of light duty! I will be doing some flap sander work with it too. The speed seems to hold well where I want it to.aeontoys97006
Haven't used it yet but I purchased it to replace an old drill that had a battery pack and the charger no longer would charge. I got the corded Ryobi instead of messing with having to charge the battery. I use the drill only at the house so having a corded one works just fine for me. The price was right. It is a good value. The big box stores would cost more. Shipped for free and it came sooner than promiseddsny3775

Reviews:
Con: The minimum speed on the drill is about 400 rpm, not zero. This was pointed out by another reviewer. He found out it is a design issue. So, This is a 400-1200 rpm VSR. So it is NOT good for steel, or finely finished drill holes. Pro: Pretty much all of the reviewers here are correct. This is a LOT of drill. Huge torque — use both hands. Keeps going and going and will shut itself off if you overpush it. Very tough. very reliable. But it is surprisingly light, about 4.9 lbs. I drilled hundreds of 3/4" spade bit holes in studs for running 10 ga romex. The drill barely got warm (the spade bit got glowing hot and had to resharpen 3 times, LOLs). I have a big stucco project coming up, and I have a funny feeling this will make a perfect mud mixer. Edit 3.17: We have using this drill almost daily for mixing and massive multiple hole drilling for 4 months. We also like to use it for wire brushing or sanding. the overload circuit on this is a lifesaver. we run this drill for hours on end and until it shuts itself off for 10 mins. then presto, it starts right back up without a hitch. the price on the 210 has increased unfortunately, but it is worth it, bumping our review up to 5 stars. Edit 3.23: We are buying 5 more of the 210's. it turns out you can buy them used very cheaply, not necessarily on Home Essentials Direct though (hint hint nudge nudge).c.l.
Had many drills – but this 10 AMP is far superior to any 20 or 24 V Cordless, or even an 8 amp A/C drill. If you were using it full speed and the bit suddenly locked in a piece of steel, you would surely break your wrist without the grip. Great drill! . . . but requires you to change your behavior. Don't risk your fingers getting smashed or wrist terribly twisted. Truly perfect for heavy work.coopdedoopcamping
Replacement for a 20 year old (and finally dead) DeWalt. This replaces a 3/8 drive. This one is a half inch bit size and the detachable handle and 10 amps will assure you of it's ability to plow through anything. It IS however, not necessarily a one- handed drill. It is heavier than most and built with industrial durability in mind. That is my only negative comment about it and I should have given more thought to the WEIGHT of the drill. That's not DeWalt's fault. I love the power of the drill. The detachable handle makes it applicable to almost any job you need a drill for. I am pretty sure this will last the rest of my life.D.

Reviews:
Good product, works fine. Super high RPM. I wish you sold this same drill in 1/2" chuck size, though. Also the chuck tightening handle is hard to get a grip on, although I've had no problems with bits loosening. It's a heavy drill. Works as advertised and the price was very good. 5 stars.Pablo
I had Dewalt 6A corded Drill for more than 15 years, and I loved it. I am moderated user. Now it had mechanical issue and I need to buy new one. Unfortunately, Dewalt is no longer provided 6A drill. I had a porter cable saw more than 15 years and it still worked as a champ so I trusted them. Walmart doesn't have Porter Cable 6A so they provided me 6.5A which even better with same price. This drill doesn't have the plastic box for it but I still have Dewalt box so I will use it. Up to now, the 6.5A Porter Cable worked perfectly.TypicalUser11761

Reviews:
I just bought this drill to use for honing small engine cylinders. The drill gets extremely hot after a few seconds of operation at low speeds. After a couple minutes, the drill starts smoking and I have to stop honing for 15 to 20-minutes to let it cool down. Motor is very weak. I'm afraid it's not going to last much longer. I should have bought a Dewalt.John
After it refusing to work any longer and instead throwing sparks, I finally took it apart to find this gear busted up, no sign of the missing chunk. Even right after I got it and tried drilling through logs with a 5/8 auger, it was weaker than my hypertough 20a. I thought corded meant stronger.catfish35
Made a sign for my brother-in-law's company and needed a hammer drill to drill pilot holes for the fasteners. With the right quality concrete drill bits, this little Craftsman drill made easy work for me and my helper, my 97 year old father-in-law. For greater installation strength, I drilled right through the brick instead of the thin mortar. With a garage full of Craftsman well made tools, this hammer drill will feel right at home. Thanks Craftsman!Robojo

Reviews:
I recently purchased my second Milwaukee 0299-20 Magnum 1/2" Drill. Overall great value and quality. Plenty of power, good ergonomics and a chuck that grips well. The only point that could use improvement would be the Variable Speed Switch. It worked fine in most applications but if you're doing heavy drilling with a 4" Hole Saw at very low speeds it is a bit overly sensitive to control. Otherwise, it's fine and I enjoy using them. Yes, if needed I'd buy a third one.commandomonmac
It works, always. My other drill chacked-shuttered cold stopped half way thru 300 pounds of quik leveler. Not the best day I've ever had. That's it. You need your gear to work, always? Straight up – when it doesn't, you feel that pain. Pony up the money for this drill, it's worth it.

Bought this as a used product, but I needed to mix mortar and thinset for a tile job. This tool gets it done, no problem. Has the power you need without worry about burning out a motor on a cordless drill. DeWalt has a good name and this drill continues with the tradition. I recommend it.maryshu27

Worked awesome. Used a 1 in ship borers bit and never bogged down. Have to hang on because it's got some torque!James
I use it to mix mortar, it is light, geared low and the handle attachment gives comfortable and easy control over the high torque twisting when the mud gets thick. The cord is also heavy and long enough to keep the plug out of the work area. Some things about a products design doesn't need to change or be over styled. This is one of those products. I used this very little over the span of a year or so. General use, nothing too harsh. Two issues, a) overheats. Not a show stopper, but annoying when it gets almost too hot to handle b) the ON switch stops working when drilling vertically. Shop stopper, useless. I don't understand how such an inadequately designed tool as this can be released for production and into the market. No nickname

Reviews:
I bought this drill for tough job, such continuous heavy torque drilling that I accepted I may "use it up" in the process. That job was successfully completed and there have been many others since – and its still running smoothly. This unit tends to get hot when working under load but never to the point of producing a burning smell. I use another cordless for most general purpose drilling but each time I pull out the DeWalt I seem to be more impressed by its design, power, and durability.T.T.

Reviews:
I’ve been using a Skip cordless drill for years, but needed something with a little more power to drill through some solid doors to change out door knobs. Found this corded drill and it had more than enough power to drill through with ease and at a price that can’t be beat. Perfect drill for light and heavy jobs for the professional or weekend warrior.Chris119
I needed a drill with the power to cut into old hardwood doors to add new doorknobs. I googled for 1/2 drills and found new ones that cost a fortune. On a lark I decided to look for refurbished ones and your site was the first hit I had. It was even on sale at the time. It showed up at my door all happy and ready to go in about 3 days. Worked like a charm without damaging the door any more than necessary.Drillin' Tom
I bought this when my old Black and Decker died. It's good and heavy, which means stable. I am impressed with the power, and the two finger trigger is neat. I'm not in love with the location of the direction and lock on switches, but I'll live with it. Overall, you can't beat the value. Another unexpected plus is the ability to use the smallest bits out there. You could chuck up a sewing needle if you wanted to. The thing also puts out enough air to keep you cool as you work!AmishRandy

I purchased this to replace an old 1/2" home grade Black & Decker drill that I've had for a long time. My old drill still works but the trigger sticks and I risk twisting my wrist or breaking some fingers, if it gets in a bind wide open. Anyway, I purchased this Ryobi drill a couple of weeks ago for the purpose which I was attempting to use it for. I simply needed to drive some 3/8" wood lags through a pine rim board and into the pine floor joists behind it. I pre-drilled the rim board so I only had to sink the wood lags three inches into the joists. Needless to say this drill couldn't get two inches of the lags into the joists without stopping and just growling. I checked to see if I had the speed setting on the trigger all the way up and it was. I even tried putting it into impact mode with no better results. I ended up finishing by hand with a short handled ratchet wrench. This drill is supposed to be a 6.2 amp tool, but it works more like a 2.6 amp. My old drill would work circles around this one, but then I work with my hands all day so I don't want to risk an injury. In hind-site, I would gladly have paid thirty dollars more if I had known how weak this drill would be.Ron

I bought it on an impulse as it was being sold "as is" and untested. It turned out it was frozen and would not even turn. I took it apart and unfroze it. It turned out to be a very heavy duty hammer drill and a fantastic brand. "RIGID" It looks and feels heavy duty and I am sure I am going to have and make a very useful use of it. I have already used it several times successfully. Pleased with my purchase and the chance I took witch turned out alright. It sometimes pays to take a chance on good tools.emc6740

Reviews:
I needed an everyday drill. Although there are great cordless ones out there… corded produces assured power. Right now. Every time. For a household drill… this will do it. 5.2 amps is beyond adequate for… yeah. I'll be purchasing the 1/2 hammer drill as well for… yeah. The rest. As far as this product for this price… two thumbs up. I just wish the forward/reverse selector wasn't so… uh… wide. But… there's no way of not knowing which way she'll be spinning. So… this too is a plus. It's not going to be a problem whatsoever. The reviews about the keyless chuck being too tight… ??? It's supposed to be that way. It has to hold the drill bit securely… or… you won't be drilling anything. The chuck keys are designed for leverage… buy a keyed chuck model if hand strength is an issue. And… It's robust enough to handle professional duties as well. The keyless chuck is replaceable too. My opinion… coupled with "experience"… buy it. Period.Freedom
The chuck on these drills arrive tight and hard to open. To open the chuck turn it in the direction of the locked padlock icon. The locked padlock icon refers to locking the drill bit not locking the chuck. Other reviewers on Amazon on this drill returned it because they can not open the chuck. This may be the reason these drills can be picked up at great low prices. The drill is powerful with a smooth motor. No need to buy batteries as it is corded.valhallahiker
Years ago I struggled with the decision of whether or not to buy a cordless or corded drill and had bought a cordless. Needless to say the batteries would wear out after only a few holes being drilled and since I didn't need to use it much they eventually stopped taking a charge altogether. I bought this now to replace the old cordless drill and absolutely love it. The keyless chuck is easy to open/close and it fits all my existing drill bits. If I have any complaints it would be that the trigger is not very responsive when trying to drill slowly, but for the price I'm fine with it.LakePJ

Reviews:
I picked up a JobMate rotary tool but upgraded to a Dremel because the bits are much better made and it comes with some attachments that add to the versatility of the kit. Some of these attachments (a router, a spin saw) are gimmicky, but a couple like the chain saw sharpening kit and the flexible shaft are really helpful and take care of jobs that can’t be done with your regular tools. The JobMate for $10 on sale is not a ripoff, but it can’t be compared to an actual Dremel in terms of performance, durability and versatility. I picked up a kit of JobMate attachments to go with that tool, but they tend to break down quickly compared to the Dremel line. The sanding cylinders, grinding stones, and cut off disks all had much shorter lives compared to their Dremel counterparts. Attachments routinely fell out of the JobMate tool. The Dremel collet is a lot better than the JobMate one in terms of opening and tightening, and so far I've never had a Dremel-brand head fall out. (Some of the leftovers from my JobMate and MasterCraft kit will occasionally fall out.) I went with the 300 series because it was in my price range and it came with a clamping table for small jobs. I've only had the tool four months, so no comments on durability aside from the fact it has outlasted my JobMate and I've put it to a lot heavier use. I've used it for a limited number of projects, mostly woodworking and handyman related jobs. Here's how the tool fared: 1. I bought the chain saw sharpener kit and it worked out very well on an electric chainsaw we picked up. It was a lot faster than using a file, and the results were as sharp. 2. The Dremel did a great job cleaning off some old paint scrapers and doing the rough sharp some of old anvil pruners, but I still needed to use a honing stone to finish the job. 3. I sanded some decorative pieces to glue onto a bird feeder and some Barbie furniture. It's great for this kind of detail cutting, shaping and sanding. 4. I engraved my initials into a cell phone, wood, and some leftover sheet metal. It was very easy to hold for this type of detail working. 5. The round cut off heads are great for removing nails or screws that poke out above the wood. It made quick work of cutting through them and the heads lasted a lot longer than ones I got with my JobMate. Dremel has every kind of attachment you can think of. I bought the router one, but it was soon sent back because it just didn't offer the kind of depth control I wanted. Also, 1.15 amps just isn't enough juice to cut wood at a speed that you can get with even the most basic router. I think that as a basic rotary tool, the Dremel can't be beat. When you start sinking funds into fancy attachments, you are spending money better spend on a power tool that will outperform the Dremel. The selection of bits that come with the kit sold by Canadian Tire is limited. You will find yourself quickly buying up replacements and specialized bits like an engraver. For woodworking (shaping, sanding) and basic handyman jobs (sharpening tools) , the Dremel is great. It costs (a lot) more than a JobMate or MasterCraft, but it's also a lot better in terms of performance, versatility, and durability."sandymauer
Rotary tools like the dremel can be great for small tasks and sanding or polishing parts that can be tough to reach with larger tools. My problem is that with extended use the motor gets very hot and I've burnt out 3 of these now. The more recent ones seem to not last very long even with lighter casual use. I still like rotary tools and use some bits from the kit, but won't likely buy another Dremel tool.michael.l

Good, solid corded drill. I love the option to add more power tool attachments later to it–oh, look, it's a Transformer drill!! 😉 So far, I've only used it (with a drill bit from my brother-in-law since I don't have a set of bits yet) to drill drainage holes in some plastic 5-gal buckets, something a nail just couldn't manage. It worked perfectly for that. The power seems decent, and it wasn't terribly heavy, always a plus.Thistlethorn58
After years of struggling to use cordless drills that just didn't have enough power and were always needing to be recharged, I shopped for a good old fashioned corded drill. Plenty of power, plus the matrix conversion factor was a huge bonus. I've since bought several of the attachments, which just make a great drill even better. Now I've got all the power I need, plus I can easily switch from drill head to sander to saw. Wonderful.Loisba
This is a heavy duty item with more power than you would think. With the flexibility of additional tool heads, from torque to saw to sanders and an air compressor, this has to be one of the most versatile base tools you could ever want. The tool heads also work on the Matrix 12 and 24v battery operated drills. It's not the cheapest tool you can buy, but it will be one of the best 'bang for the buck' tools you'll own.GKins

Reviews:
I've used this drill many times before and it always gets the job done. I just bought a new one recently and was suprised to find that it doesn't have speed control that I'm used to. Looking on the Makita website, there is only one model that looks like this one. Did they take away a feature? It has great build quality and I don't doubt it'll last me many years like previous models have.Jman
I looked around forever for a drill. Was a little worried when I purchased this one as it doesn't really advertise that its a variable speed, it is a variable speed drill and is prefect for drilling conduit runs in studs with an auger bit. Also works awesome with a 4 and 1/4 inch hole saw.spokes
It's used to drill holes, of course. Why is it a good buy? Compared to the other oriental manufactured brother this Makita replaces: The other new drill was used several times. Boring through good quality steel requires "some guts". The other drill was smoking going through 3/16ths cold rolled steel, the bit was gouging and digging in, and sticking. This Makita didn't bog down under proper pressure which allows for correct use of cobalt drill bits, in this application. The finished holes were perfect. The variable speed is gradual and smooth. This drill delivers the correct rpm for great control over the job providing for less manhandling of the tool. And the rotating handle is a very nice added feature. Topping that off, CPO's pricing was also a reason this drill was purchased. Nothing comes to mind for what wouldn't be so good about this product. It's well thought out in design and manufactured with the quality and reliability we've come to expect from Makita.Snickers

Reviews:
I bought this drill for the sole purpose of mixing tile adhesives and grout and it did not disappoint. This thing has plenty of power to get through the thickest of mud. The handles provide holding options as your mixing, but I tend to always use the side handle to mix since I hold the bucket with my feet. This uses the old school key to tighten and loosen the chuck which is definitely required for mixing. Also, if you like to have tool boxes for your tools like I do. The DeWalt TSTAK II 13" Stackable, along with a foam insert is perfect to secure the drill, both handles (detached), and the chuck key all in one portable location.ArmyDan72
Worked great. Mixed almost 4000lbs of concrete with an eggbeater on this guy in 1 day. It was a little warm, and I was a little jittery myself, but the job was done successfully. Only on the last bag of concrete did the chuck finally loosen up enough to let the bit out, but whatever, after 90 or so minutes of mixing, I was a lot looser then, too. Great drill.Y.
Mixing mortar can be difficult. Especially for small projects. I tried using a standard drill and it did NOT end well. Yes, I got more mortar on my clothes than anything else!! So, I decided to use a fork…and it worked pretty well. But took a very, VERY long time. I did not like being a mortar forker. There HAD to be a better way!! And BEHOLD! Dewalt has a solution to my mortar forking problem. This is an awesome drill. I would definitely recommend buying this to help all your mortar needs.H.

Initially bought this item about 3 months ago. Very impressed at first at speed of drilling but after a few weeks I noticed it started throwing grease from the fwd bearing. Took it back to syore and they exchanged it for another. Second drill only lasted about 15 holes before it started throwing grease and chuck was hot to touch. Took it back to store and they gave me a refund. Said they don't exchange more than once.Crazy Jake
I bought this last spring because I was installing a safety fence around a pool. I had started using a competitor’s comparable drill and it just wasn’t getting it done and the chuck kept detaching. After about an hour and very little progress I returned that tool and exchanged it for the Dewalt model. I made very quick work of my project! I love the drill and will use it for years to come I am sure.Timothy O
Great product! Used to create holes for Tapcon concrete anchors. Didn't skip a beat!anonymous
