I’m trying to grow out my highlights & “embrace the grey” but have a bit of fun with temporary colour while I do so. I bought this product after a lot of internet research. Did my patch test, this is a “natural” product, no ammonia, parabens etc so was hopeful. All ok & did a couple of strand tests too. Ready to go! PLEASE make sure you wear gloves, mask around your face, ears & neck with a barrier cream, rinse hair out over a sink or bath. DON’T shower it off over your body! You will look like a Smurf! I wanted to temporarily colour my hair for the start of the football (soccer) season. I left the blue on for about 2 and a half hours & the purple & pink for about an hour and a half. I wrapped my head in cling film in case it dripped, it’s a nice thick gel, so I don’t think it would but better safe that sorry. It smells fruity so no stinky head while you wait. I loved the result! My hair felt soft & moisturised, still does. I knew the blue wouldn’t last as long, red tones grip better, so after 2 weeks & 13 double shampoo washes, the blue has almost gone but the pink & purple is going strong. I still get purple hands while showering but no skin transfer so all good. I forgot to take a before so the first photo is after the strand test but you can kind of see my highlighted, grey & mousey “before” hair. Second & third photos are a day after colouring. Fourth & fifth is to show how the pink & purple have washed out & the blue is almost gone after a lot of washes. If you want a longer lasting semi permanent colour, I would highly recommend this product! Love this product!! Used for over 10 yrs now. Use Vaseline around ears and edges of face to keep stains off skin. Nail polish remover will do the rest. I have black hair and it will only show on porous strands such as bleached or blonde – otherwise it has no where to go and will stain things as it comes off. What I love is that it DOES stain which means as it fades out you still have color stained hair until it fades to a more pastel color. Keeps from having to do all the time. I use gloves to apply liberally. Smells delicious! I then wrap in a cap (plastic bag will work, too) and let it stay on as long as I can- note that this method almost blends into my black hair until a first couple washes. Also note that I would lay a towel over my pillow until the first couple washes. Also, note that I use a special towel for drying bc color will come off the wet hair. Also note that I don't wear white or swim until after the first couple of washes. It's a stronger look than a salon color and lasts a VERY long time. I’ve been using Punky Colors since they were originally called ‘Jerome Russell Punky Colours’. I am a professional hairstylist and I love these non-pro colors for solid colors. Cherry on Top is the perfect bright warm red. It’s bright, it’s true to shade, and there isn’t a hint of cold undertone. That’s why I prefer to use Cherry On Top paired up with the diluting clear to create my pastel pinks in warmer colors than the actual Pink Flamingo or Pastel line. It lasts longer and looks like bubblegum. Yes, this color bleeds. A lot. It is a high concentrate of pigment which helps it last longer on bleached hair and coat non-bleached hair. My suggestion to a lot of you is to get a black towel and black pillowcase so you won’t ruin anything! Always wear gloves. And just rinse it the best you can before adding any shampoo. Shampoo is what makes the color spread all over the tub and stain it. Even if you do stain the tub, most porcelain tubs it will wear off. I personally think this dye is great, but I can think of another brand that has more staying power and is cheaper, so for that reason I can only give this 4 stars. The tone of this pink is unique to pinks I have bought previously and I think that's great when wanting some dimension! The texture is hard to describe but not its really creamy or gel like. And I think it smells like peppercorn, which doesn't bother me. I find a tube of this goes a really long way too, which is fantastic! The staying power is pretty average for your vivid pinks. I recently tried this product for the first time and I think it’s now one of my favorites! I’ve gotten TONS of compliments since I used Blue Ruin and I’ve used them all, over the years. Warning: stuff is Pravana Vivids level of stainage. RIP to a couple of ratty old towels, lol. My hair is between a level 2-3 with grays and I bleach and then highlight it to level 7-8. Pro tip is that I mix this product with a little conditioner and Olaplex 3 and then leave it in my hair for 2 hours. It really saves it from being fried. I tried to manage my expectations a little with this product, as it’s recommended for light blonde or pre-lightened hair but mine was a balayage with dark blonde/light brown. Turns out it defied my expectations and still came out as a super vibrant red! My hair is chest length and the tube had just about enough to cover nearly my whole head (my roots are dark so I avoided those) with a small amount of conditioner mixed in to stretch it a bit further. My experience here was a bit different than all other previous reviews, so take it as it is. I have very thin curly brown hair and this gave me a nice dark blonde colour. It looks very beautiful in terms of colour, has good coverage and is easy to mix and apply (although you need your own bowl and mixing tool). My hair is long but one box was enough and unlike all other dyes, it didn't bleed to the towel or pillow at all and didn't stain my skin. Now the cons: it has a VERY strong smell when applying! Not sure how everyone is saying it smells good… the smell goes away the next day, but do not apply in a closed space. Also, and this made me fear for my life: my hair got extremely dry right after washing the dye off… it felt like I was touching hay and not hair. I was shocked!! Even after the conditioner from the box, my own conditioner, it felt like it was ruined… only after a week or so of putting leave in conditioner everyday and not using shampoo it got back to normal, so beware you may need to do some extra conditioner care afterwards (this never happened to me before with any other dye). I don't know if I would buy this brand again due to the dryness shock, but I do love the colour result…iHerb Customer

I mixed this color (5D light golden chestnut) with 7D (golden blond). The ratio is one unit of developer to one unit of color. So I used a half unit of each color to equal one color unit and blended that with one unit of the developer. The remaining color that I didn't use from each bottle will be used next time, so I get two uses out of each box. I chose to blend those two colors to try to get close to my natural shade, which is a light brown with some golden strands and some hints of red. I did a bunch of research before I bought these colors. I learned that the same shades act differently on all different people and just accepted that I wouldn't be able to predict the exact outcome. If you want to be more sure of the actual result, you can save your hair from the shower for a week and then use that as a test to see how the color takes to your hair. Who knew there'd be a use for that annoying shower hair! My results were quite dark the day that I dyed it — it was a rich chocolate tone. It lightened up after a few washes. It's now been more than a week since I colored it and it looks great. I have about 20% gray and it covered them well. I like that the formula doesn't have a harsh chemical scent. Please note that the packages don't include a bowl to mix the solution in or an applicator for putting the mixture in your hair' plan accordingly so you have the materials on hand. I’m trying to grow out my highlights & “embrace the grey” but have a bit of fun with temporary colour while I do so. I bought this product after a lot of internet research. Did my patch test, this is a “natural” product, no ammonia, parabens etc so was hopeful. All ok & did a couple of strand tests too. Ready to go! PLEASE make sure you wear gloves, mask around your face, ears & neck with a barrier cream, rinse hair out over a sink or bath. DON’T shower it off over your body! You will look like a Smurf! I wanted to temporarily colour my hair for the start of the football (soccer) season. I left the blue on for about 2 and a half hours & the purple & pink for about an hour and a half. I wrapped my head in cling film in case it dripped, it’s a nice thick gel, so I don’t think it would but better safe that sorry. It smells fruity so no stinky head while you wait. I loved the result! My hair felt soft & moisturised, still does. I knew the blue wouldn’t last as long, red tones grip better, so after 2 weeks & 13 double shampoo washes, the blue has almost gone but the pink & purple is going strong. I still get purple hands while showering but no skin transfer so all good. I forgot to take a before so the first photo is after the strand test but you can kind of see my highlighted, grey & mousey “before” hair. Second & third photos are a day after colouring. Fourth & fifth is to show how the pink & purple have washed out & the blue is almost gone after a lot of washes. If you want a longer lasting semi permanent colour, I would highly recommend this product! Love this product!! Used for over 10 yrs now. Use Vaseline around ears and edges of face to keep stains off skin. Nail polish remover will do the rest. I have black hair and it will only show on porous strands such as bleached or blonde – otherwise it has no where to go and will stain things as it comes off. What I love is that it DOES stain which means as it fades out you still have color stained hair until it fades to a more pastel color. Keeps from having to do all the time. I use gloves to apply liberally. Smells delicious! I then wrap in a cap (plastic bag will work, too) and let it stay on as long as I can- note that this method almost blends into my black hair until a first couple washes. Also note that I would lay a towel over my pillow until the first couple washes. Also, note that I use a special towel for drying bc color will come off the wet hair. Also note that I don't wear white or swim until after the first couple of washes. It's a stronger look than a salon color and lasts a VERY long time. So, if you want a fun color for the weekend, choose something else as it really is semi-permanent and doesn't just wash away from bleached or blonde hair. Hope this helps!CrazyHair Bae
I’ve been using Punky Colors since they were originally called ‘Jerome Russell Punky Colours’. I am a professional hairstylist and I love these non-pro colors for solid colors. Cherry on Top is the perfect bright warm red. It’s bright, it’s true to shade, and there isn’t a hint of cold undertone. That’s why I prefer to use Cherry On Top paired up with the diluting clear to create my pastel pinks in warmer colors than the actual Pink Flamingo or Pastel line. It lasts longer and looks like bubblegum. Yes, this color bleeds. A lot. It is a high concentrate of pigment which helps it last longer on bleached hair and coat non-bleached hair. My suggestion to a lot of you is to get a black towel and black pillowcase so you won’t ruin anything! Always wear gloves. And just rinse it the best you can before adding any shampoo. Shampoo is what makes the color spread all over the tub and stain it. Even if you do stain the tub, most porcelain tubs it will wear off. Porous plastic tubs you can get the foaming bleach cleaning spray from any store, spray it and let it set a while, it’ll lessen the red stains. Good luck!Cotton candy Cherry

will say that I don't know if I saw any healing benefits, but I've also upgraded my hair routine a lot recently so that could be why! But on to the color part… it's absolutely amazing. I bought 2 containers because of the BOGO sale, but also because I have hair that goes below my waist so I assumed I'd need that much due to experiences with other brands. Alas, I was wrong. I barely used 1/4 of one of the containers to do my whole head! To be fair, I have brown hair with a bleached streak that was a patchy purple because the last dye I used washed out in some parts but not others (plus a past split dye that caused one half of the ends of my hair to be a light brown while the other is darker), so perhaps that could be why. I applied a pretty good amount to my whole head but especially my bleached area and so a little goes on a long way! It added a red tinge to my dark brown (mahogany vibes), turned the light brown to a pretty dark red, and the bleached streak is a bright red that looks beautiful. Dude, this is the BEST semi permanent hair color I have ever used. In 2018, I suddenly became allergic to regular dyes (PPD and some other unknown ingredients), and was unable to use traditional dye methods. When I say allergy, I mean SEVERE reaction… swollen head, eyes, lymph nodes in my neck. Needed emergency care for the reaction. Luckily for me, I don't have an allergy to bleach (probably because there's no pigment) and was relying on the only coloring agent I didn't have an allergy to, OverTone (I tried Arctic Fox, Manic Panic, and even Henna to no avail). I saw Brad came out with his own color and wanted to give it a try. I am happy to say that I have had ZERO allergic reaction to it and the color deposits so much more beautifully than my previously used products. Minimal bleeding when rinsing as well! Super happy. I wanted to love this hair dye so much, but sadly it just didn't work for me. Based on the reviews of others, I'm guessing it has something to do with my hair..?? Anyway, here are the problems I had: 1. Despite Brad's claims, one pot was not enough for my whole head. I don't have crazy hair. It's curly, barely below my shoulders, normal thickness normal density. I got 3/4 of my head dyed before it ran out. 2. Something about the product made my hair feel almost gummy… even when dry.. weeks later. It threw off my curl pattern and my hair was not greasy but something was off. I could tell it was the product because the top 1/4 didn't get dyed so I had a good comparison haha. My hair has gone back to normal now but I had a month of bad hair days which sucked. 3. Since I ran out of product, I ordered a second pot the day I dyed my hair. By the time the second pot arrived a few days later, (never shampooed, only rinsed with water) the majority of my pink had rinsed out. 4. While parts washed out so fast, I'm left a month later with the weirdest splotches of pink throughout my hair. Like two spots above my ears… so odd. If you've used color like this before and you know it works, I bet this product is great! I wouldn't recommend it if you are new to dying your own hair or if you have natural curls.Abbey

I have being dying my hair bright, vibrant red for just over five years now, and Arctic Fox has been part of my color maintenance routine since day one. Vibrant red hair is not easy to maintain and keep from fading quickly, which can very quickly do serious damage to your hair if your only using ammonia-based chemical dyes every time you need to refresh your color. Arctic Fox doesn't damage hair at all. In fact, it helps undue the damage caused by permanent dyes because it doesn't have any harsh chemicals that strip hair. Arctic Fox is actually GOOD for your hair and works just like a conditioner, not like a hair dye. I add Arctic Fox to my regular conditioner (sulfate free of course) so that every time I wash my hair I'm also keeping my red looking vibrant and even healthier every time. I always wash my hair using the coolest water I can tolerate and after I shampoo I apply my premixed bottle of 3/4 sulfate free conditioner, 1/4 Arctic Fox Wrath + a dollop of Violet Dream and let it sit on my hair secured on top of my with a claw clip while I finish the rest of my shower routine, just like I would do with a nourishing hair mask. Once my routine is done, I rinse out my hair thuroughly in cool water and towel dry it only so I get the most out of conditioning my hair, and viola! My looks, feels softer and healthier than before I washed it, plus my red still looks like it did the day I first day I dyed it. It's a win win. I have virgin dirty blonde hair. I bought the shade Transylvania which is a pure black color. I applied it last night to my clean hair, no products or nothing in it and let it sit in foil for about 40 minutes. I didn't apply the dye to my whole head, I just wanted to add pieces here and there throughout my hair like I've done in the past. Upon rinsing my hair out with cold water and letting it dry I noticed how faded the black looks. In the shower the water ran blue. I know black dyes typically contain blue but this was like a vibrant blueish green. In artificial lighting the dye in my hair looks like a dark grey, but in the natural sunlight it looks like a greyish green which isn't very pretty at the moment. I'm going to give it one more go before I decide whether or not to return this. I usually LOVE arctic fox dyes and have never had issues before but this black dye really needs to be reformulated.Jen

I always wanted to go purple but I never had the nerve. I am so happy my first time was with this product. My hair is so soft from the moisturizing aspect of the dye itself and the pastel purple color is beautiful! It comes in a 2.53 oz tube. The only thing I found was with long hair even with combing it through it was a stretch towards the end to cover it well so next time I think I will have two tubes ready. My hair is not real thick but I think that if you have thick hair you might find it would be good to have an extra ready just in case. I also thought to mention it doesn't smell bad either so sitting there with it on isn't torture. On the test strand I left it on my hair for 30 minutes and the color was not quite what I wanted so when I did the full head I bagged it and left it on for an hour. Because it is moisturizing it does not hurt your hair to leave it on longer from what I found. My hair is dark blonde and gray so I didn't need to bleach first to get the nice pastel color but maybe with darker hair you would probably need to do that in my opinion. My roots are lighter because that's where it is more gray so it is a darker purple but that's okay because I love the way it fades down to the pastel from there. I suppose if you do have lighter roots you might want to apply there last possibly. I love it though so for me it's perfect! Since I only wash my hair every two days usually because it gets dry I am not worried about it washing out too quickly and when it does I plan on doing this again and again. I think next time I will get two colors and do the ends a different color. That was my husband's idea as he did it for me to help me get the best coverage and he thought that would look great too! Brite cruelty free vegan hair color was very easy to use & came out great!!! Instructions were easy to read& follow. Simply use as any other hair coloring kit. This product is designed to be Non damaging to your hair. You can strand test prior to coloring your hair. Once the strand test is done, you simply apply to hair ( if your just using this one kit) then wait 10+ minutes until desired color. Once you reached desired color simply rinse with cool water and style normally. As this product is semi permanent it fades with each shampoo. I did color partially my head of hair ( I have dark brown& light brown) so I colored my light brown portion of my hair & after about 25 minutes I had the desired color. Once washed and dried I had a beautiful pink color. After washing my hair more than 6-7 times I still have a pink color. I have always colored and streaked my own hair and figured I would try something new and edgy so I ordered the Brite Cruelty Free Vegan Hair Colour in Rose. Very easy directions since you don't have to mix anything – you just have to wash your hair with no conditioner and check the color every ten minutes. Since it was only a short commitment from 5-30 washes I figured how wrong could it go – I'd do a few streaks and see what happened. I did do the Brite Cruelty-Free Vegan Hair Colour in Silver first, sparingly streaking it which did not show up as I thought it would. So I used more of the Rose throughout my hair but unfortunately, it got into some of the silver areas. Very tricky to do and I am not a professional. The end result did pick up the highlights in my hair but with a slight pinkish tone with brighter pieces. It looks different and yes edgier – doesn't exactly look like the box but I'm happy with the outcome. Since I wash my hair every day it should be gone in a couple of weeks so for now, I'll enjoy the youthful color tones to my hair, and next time I might just do one color at a time!NB

Originally when I picked the color off the lime crime website it looked more like a tan neutral almost with subtle hints of peach close to nude color, and then when it arrived and the I swatched it – it was so far from what it looked like on the website? Hence why I usually don’t like purchasing make up mostly “lipsticks” online. However, I was extremely surprised how beautiful it was with little to no make up on and just very light mascara and lashes and how beautiful it went with my pale skin it wasn’t too dark and it wasn’t too late it’s the perfect shade for any occasion. I wouldn’t say it’s a nude color, I guess it could be placed in the nude category but I’ve found it had more hues of browns grays purples almost like a very dry it out purple with subtle and when I say subtle I mean very subtle hints of pinks and peaches and just all sorts of colors that I can’t quite point my finger on may be a little bit of a gray but mix those all together and you get this beautiful cashmere color that goes on smooth! I love that it’s a liquid lipstick aka VELVETINE matte (so I know it won’t be coming off on my teeth, clothes, drinks or even when I’m eating greasy foods – THIS HAS STAYED PUT!) I’ll even go as far as saying it lasted one very long passionate date night with my husband 🙊🙈😂 (insert blushing emoji here)  This was actually my second time purchasing this shade, and I would definitely purchase it again and again! Limecrime has great sales from time to time so make sure to look out for that! I think they’ve rebranded their website at showing the exact color on different skin tones and even have multiple lips pictured so you have a better idea how it will look, from when it was just the same pair of lips that was always pictured in every shade! I recommend any of limecrime’s liquid velvetines as they are soft on the lips and go on very smoothly.chantal .v
I would NEVER recommend this dye to anyone. It only gets a star because it smelled nice. I got Sea Witch and it has dyed every surface my hair touches that color if the strand is wet. As soon as any water hits my hair, the color just starts running everywhere. I just put a little gel in my hair so I could braid it and my scalp has turned green again and so are my hands. My hair has been falling out more than usual after using this dye and all my towels, pillow cases, every surface in my bathroom, the sink at work, they are all covered in little hair strands that turn the counter top green. It’s infuriating. I get that washing your hair means color will come out, but I’ve NEVER had any other brand wash out like this or turn every surface it touches that color. I will never be buying it again and I’m probably going to take this color out of my hair soon. I’ve dealt with this for almost 2 weeks and it’s only getting worse. I love this brand so much. I’ve used maybe five of their colors, but the jello and chocolate Cherry are my absolute favorite ones. First off, the color penetration is excellent. If anyone out there is looking for tips, try rinsing your hair with cool water every time you wash it. Keeps the color longer and stays vibrant. The smell is a plus!!! And the price isn’t bad considering you’re getting over two more ounces of color compared to Manic Panic. I’ve been doing my hair funky colors for about twenty years now, I’ve tried literally every brand out there. I even put myself through beauty school and experimented with top notch dye, yet I still come back to this brand. I love it! I’ve got jello and cherry in my hair but I’m looking forward to trying Mochi soon, I’m excited about the grey/purple/bluish look it has. My rule of thumb is go darker and enjoy the fading process. For a back story I am a natural sandy brown and my hair is in a mohawk currently. So I purchased the iroiro neon blue and first I did a bleach kit as I mention darker natural hair as I wanted to get the full effects of the neon. So bleached first then onto the color. I applied the color and left it on for 45 minutes so that i would get the bright vibrant blue i wanted. 45 minutes later i wash dye out under cold water as warm will fade it, didnt want that. However I have been dying hair for 20+years so I'm experienced and know what I'm doing. I am almost a week out and I literally look like I used one of the 1q 0 washes dye because I havent washed it yet but it looks as if I've pretty much combed it right out. This is by far the worst hairdye I have ever used. I've used numerous brands and numerous different colors and I will never purchase this brand again. I would not recommend it as it does not do what it stands behind. Worst product ever.lyndi.t

The pouches are so convenient and much easier than having to shake the last bits of dye in a squeeze bottle (aka Arctic Fox). Also the colors, especially pink, last a good while and fade nicely. I just used a mix of plum, pink and yellow on dyed brown hair for a nice color tiny and it looks beautiful in the sun. Definitely recommend. Also cruelty free and thats always important!rebekah.a
This product worked wonderfully. I used L’Oreal colorista for brunettes to make a conditioner to put on my hair first. This is a true burgundy plum on medium brunettes. It came out so red I was impressed. Not that messy imo. My only regret is that this color looks better when I’m pale in winter. Can’t wait to tone it with a true violet. So far Amika violet toning drops are helping make it a bit less extreme. Great color payoff, environmentally friendly packaging, minimal damage. I did not put conditioner underneath to open my cuticle for scalp oil. Great technique for oily scalps. Love. Bought this from Sally’s it was affordable. Easy to stretch too.sheri .h

This stuff! I have colored my hair for almost 30 years. Having started at 14, it's been bleached, highlighted, lowlighted, color-deposited, and chemically straightened. I decided to give my mane a break and let my tresses grow out. Earlier this year I had the last of the damage cut and was greeted by my own healthy hair. At 43 years old I found I was sporting some gray, especially in the front. I decided it's not yet enough to really rock the salt and pepper look, so I wanted to find a way to reintroduce color WITHOUT the unwanted side-effects. That's when I found khadi. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical, but after following the directions explicitly– including letting it process for up to 48 hours before washing– I was blown away! The color was exactly what I had hoped for. It even covered my grays, turning them into highlights, which was honestly welcome as it introduced multi-dimensionality to the look. The only aspect I wasn't thrilled by was how messy it was to work with. I recommend applying the product in a space that allows for easy clean-up, using drop cloths, and wiping down surfaces that come in contact immediately.
I recently began dying my hair naturally brown hair with henna. I used the henna guys previously and would have to do the two step process (4 hrs of henna followed by 4hrs of indigo) in order to achieve dark results. It was so time consuming! I began looking for other products and came across this one and I am so glad I did!! I was pleasantly surprised on how fast this henna worked and how dark it got my hair in 60 minutes! My hair never turned this shade with the other henna. It doesn’t turn it jet black like chemical hair dyes, but rather a beautiful soft black that looks so natural. I’m in love and so happy that it’s 100% all natural. You don’t have to worry about putting harmful chemicals on your scalp/hair. The only thing is a few of my grays were not covered completely. Maybe I have to leave it on longer next time. I would highly recommend this product if you are looking for an all natural dark hair dye!
I have been using plain old henna powder to dye my hair for almost a decade now. I decided to try Khali because I wanted a natural dye that could give me black hair. The process was quite scientific woth a lot more measuring and steps, though the entire process took much less time than traditional henna. I used a natural shampoo and the Khadi cleansing mask. The mask did not become jelly like, even when I switched the ratio to be more powder and less water. That didn't really bother me though. The smell of the mask was quite strong and unpleasant. I did not use the color prep with my hair dye, since I already have a natural red tone and because the color of my hair fell between two colors in the instructions and neither had color prep as recommended. The color definitely paid off but it was much less opaque than I thought. In the end, even though I followed the instructions to a t, my hair ended up just a slightly darker brown color than my original. That being said, I enjoyed the experience of the actual dye and I will definitely try another color.

Have been dying my grey roots every 3-4 weeks for about 10 years now and nice n easy in 6N (half a box) had been my drug of choice up to now. Few formula changes later and am ready to try something different. I like that I can easily measure out what I need to use as both are liquid and mixed in a 1:1 ratio. I love that there is no overpowering odour striking as soon as mixing happens although slightly unnerving that this mixes into a plastic-like gel with no other odour?(Not sure how natural it is?) It is odd but you do get used to it, just don’t get lulled into a false sense of security and make sure you take usual precautions to clean up any spillages etc as it does stain quickly as with any other dyes. Colour-wise is about equivalent to nice n easy one and covers grey well but does seem to fade quite quickly so have just started adding a couple of capfuls of 5N to half bottle 6N when applying to roots then rest of 6N for last 5 mins on rest of hair. Bought few boxes in a recent deal so got really good price – making it more on par with other hair dyes.DancingDonnaDee
This is a lovely hair colouring product: easy to use and great colour results. The smell is, not unpleasant, just different. My only criticism would be that using it on my level 7/8 hair, I used 8A, there isnt enough ash in it to counteract the orange undertone that kicks up when you lighten in that mid blonde range, so it looks a bit warmer than I would have liked. Toning shampoo (blue) helps. It will probably get cooler on my second use when I retouch my roots. It looked lovely on the lighter parts of my hair though so my advice would be to use it if your hair is lighter than a level 8, but be prepared for your colour to be warmer than ash if its darker. The hair mask thats included has a, again not unpleasant, smell to it thats different, but gives lovely, shiny results. I will be using this colour product again and would recommend it.aunty_deedee
This hair colour does a great job of covering my VERY stubborn greys. And keeping them covered for a good 6 weeks. I tried a couple of others during the pandemic and once I tried this, I never went back. I'd been looking for the right combination to get a natural looking red/auburn (I CANNOT pull off ginger much to my chagrin) for almost a year and was afraid to go red again after my last experience with red (well orange) but I can't talk enough about how good this product is. I had mousy, light brown hair that is, at this point after 5 or so years of frowning it out, virgin hair. I also don't use heat on my hair so it's rather resistant to most temporary, semi- or Demi permanent color, which leads to a LOT of transfer. I have little to no transfer even with day 3-4 hair or after the shower as long as I rinse until the water is clear. I mix the merlot and copper shades 50/50 and use it every other wash in the place of my normal cleansing conditioner which equals about 1x a week for me with my curly girl routine. I've found this maintains the color without having to wait extended periods of time with goop on your head. I only do that every 4-5 washes depending on how my color is holding up. I get so many compliments on the color (it's been described to me as Irish setter red if you want a visual aid). People are shocked when I say it's dyed which is crazy to me but definitely welcome! I have very few gripes about the product, only really two minor things. Unfortunately, like almost every other non-permanent due on the market, it does have silicones, it just comes with the territory but I find that the shampooing with the color keeps my hair from getting too limp or messing with my curl pattern (3A). I don't like silicones but it's a trade-off I find worth it, especially given that I can stop using the product if it's weighing my hair down and messing with the curls. In addition to that, because I have to mix the colors and red is notorious for staining, my hands, my bathroom and tub have become Peach Bellini or red tinted on more than one occasion but that's more me not being careful enough than the product being bad. It's the one thing I can find that adds my particular color as I "shampoo". I'm grateful someone is making something for us people who like the look of stains. But honestly, it's a very small bottle and it's a bit pricy. I'm willing to pay it but with a caveat, there is no lather. It's exactly like when I've accidentally used the conditioner instead of the shampoo while in the shower. Not a great experience. So, how did it "clean?" Um, just like you'd expect conditioner to clean your scalp and hair. I use it but since I only shampoo every three days I want that creepy stank from scalp oil to not be on me. It's there. No… so I have to cheat by adding some of my other purple shampoo (no alcohol or other bad chemicals in it) to get a real clean experience. I use it alone every other time I shampoo and then I add enough of my other purple stuff on the alternating days to get rid of the scalp stank. I do not have oily scalp either. I don't even know how people with an oily skin condition would feel about this product. Would I recommend? Yes. But I would add my own experience just to get feedback from others. Good thing is the bottle takes up almost no space in the shower and the pump wasn't stubborn!😂Pam
This review is for maintaining fashion color that was done professionally. I had purple and pink rainbow hair. My stylist recommended using this product as directed every other wash. I mixed the pink with a small amount of purple to make a dark pink. It really seemed to revive both colors. I applied to wet hair, used in place of shampoo and conditioner, left in for the rest of my shower, and then rinsed with cool water. Afterwards I applied olaplex hair perfector and a few drops of olaplex oil. Every time my hair was left perfectly soft and clean. I easily made it 3 months between color appointments. The bottle does say to test the product before each use. I imagine there must be some allergic reactions that can result, which I think is supported by several reviews stating they had hair loss. I would recommend being careful about trying to use this as a dye or for extended time on dry hair. This product does not work on my natural brunette growth. Lastly, this can stain your hands, but it won't for long. I just rinse my hands after every segment of hair that I work it into. I also have a scalp scrubber and wide tooth comb that I use to gently distribute so I'm not just using my hands. Rinse the product off of the shower walls and tub or it can stain, but bleach spray takes it right out.B

Loved the name and the colour! Was all for it! the colour was absolutely beautiful in the beginning, but be aware!! Your skin and nails will be stained for days/ weeks to come every time you wash your hair. I had to use gloves, each time I washed my hair, or else I would look like princess Fiona. Lol . Even just scratching my head, or washing in the shower, by back and neck was stained. I only wash my hair about twice a week, but it still faded so quickly, after about 2 weeks blond was showing through on top, and I just didn't want to go through the staining process again, so used shampoo and baking soda, to fade it out quicker. I applied this color to very very light blonde hair (bleached — see starter photo). I left it on for maybe 40 minutes and washed it out with warm water and applied a color sealing conditioner. The color washed away immediately — but it did tone my hair and make it very light! This was kind of pretty on its own. I tried again after a couple of days and this time I left the color on for about 4 hours. I applied it and put a bag on my head and just went about my day in my house. After washing it out with COLD water and applying the conditioner the color turned out beautifully! Not sure how it will work out with longevity but I love it!ambirbler
This dye worked exceptionally well, but almost a bit too much! For this color at least I think I used a bit too much for my hair (a little under half of the container), as it took 4-5 washes for it to run clear. The dye as well wound up staining my fingernails and shower quite a bit, which took some substantial cleaning to make sure it didn't stain too much. I'm extremely happy with the final results of the color itself, and very glad there was no issues with odor or stinging like traditional dyes, so I'll likely be purchasing again. I'd just recommend using gloves for when washing, not just application, and potentially use less dye than you think you need at the start!

Pictures with blue shirt are before. Others are after under the same lighting 1 hour apart. First off, I want to say I chose this product over other hair dyes because it is a vegan formula and cruelty free approved which means (hopefully) animals were not used or harmed for these ingredients. I purchased two boxes since my hair is medium to long length, and I was surprised that one box was enough to saturate my entire hair with product left over. The product is rather runny so it stretches a LOT which i found to be great but messy. It smells great and not like traditional hair dyes which is a huge bonus for me. The only time I noticed a weird odor was when using the After Color Conditioner, but it’s not too bad. This is the SOFTEST I have ever felt my hair after using a box dye. It is shocking how smooth and healthy it feels after this. I will say- the conditioner does leave your hair pretty greasy after washing and drying, but I plan to leave it like this all day so the color truly sticks and then use my regular color-safe shampoos before bed so I don’t stain my pillows. The color: Truly, I don’t believe the color advertised on the box is accurately represented. The picture shows a cool black with undertones of purple. For me, already having dark brown hair with red undertones, the result was a warm black with brown undertones so much so that it actually looks very natural as if I was born with black hair. I would consider this like a “soft black” dye. Though I’m not sure what they mean by “platinum black” it is definitely not leaning towards a Jet black. All in all: I am VERY satisfied with this product- being that it’s only the first day I don’t know how it will do overtime with fading, but the price point is perfect as I tend to stay away from box dyes that are under $7 due to quality. I also feel like it just did a beautiful job coloring the hair and leaving it shiny and healthy. Although the color May not have been extremely accurate, I am definitely going to stick with this brands Olía line and move more towards a deeper cool “Jet black” knowing that this one just looks like a regular normal black- which is perfect for someone wanting a natural simple tint!Laso5959
I’m 33 and I have a ton of gray around the crown of my head. I went from having a salad balayage, to dyeing my hair very dark brown because I couldn’t afford a trip to the salon. I tried my best to keep my balayage highlights intact, but it ended up dyeing over all of them. Every ‘medium’ brown I touch, turns my hair practically black. So I let the last color fade out over a few months, and decided to try this color. When I first washed it out I was a little nervous I had ‘hot roots’, because they looked very red. My hair likes to go red with any dye period, but they looked kind of orange, so I was a little scared. Once I finished drying my hair, I was pretty happy with the results. Not only did it lighten my hair significantly, but it brought back the balayage highlights that were unfortunately dyed dark. My hair does have kind of a ‘chestnut’ tone to it, but I’m over all satisfied that it lightened my hair, covered my grays, and didn’t go so dark that I lost color dimension.Alex k
Olia hair color in Dark Rose Quartz left my hair feeling silky smooth and soft! I love that it doesn't have the harshness of ammonia, which makes it smell a lot better than most hair dyes out there. I was happy with the way the color came out, but I would consider it more of a tint than a traditional dye, which is why I took a star off (I have medium brown hair with blonde balayage). If I was hoping for the color on the box, I don't know that I would have been as happy. Dark Rose Quartz is a fun and subtle shade for someone who wants to shake up their hair color without getting too crazy! I received a free product in exchange for my honest review. I picked this colour probably about 6 to 12 months ago. Wasn't sure about it at first. I have dark brown hair naturally. I usually dye it a chestnut colour. So this is a bit different than what I usually dye my hair with. But people have been complimenting how they love the colour my hair, so I kept it this colour since then, and I absolutely love it. It is my favorite colour for my hair. I really hope they don't discontinue this colour, as this will probably be my lifetime hair colour lol….. Although I'm having troubles finding it in stores right now, so it's making me a little worried that is just a limited time. And if that's the case, I don't know what to do for my hair colour. Go back to my chestnut colours. I do recommend this color and product. Love how it feels in my hair. My hair soft and the colour is very vibrant. It lasts long time. I do wash my hair with cool to cold water though. It helps keep the red bright longer. One thing though, it does continue to run every time you wash your hair so when your hair is wet it will stain your towels, or your shirts, or bed, or pillows. But I guess that's part of dying your hair red as it will always have the colour run. Does a great job at covering up the grey hair. Please keep this colour!!SPARKLES
This is the first time I have ever dyed my hair, I’ve had naturally red curly hair all my life but wanted to change it up a bit. I’ve always wanted to dye my hair burgundy so I got shade BR2 passion fruit. I will say it is such a pretty color but it isn’t exactly like the picture on the box. I’m sure that’s to be expected especially since I already have natural red hair. The color turned my red hair into a darker color with purple undertones, there’s definitely a noticeable difference which is what I was looking for. The reason for 3 stars is because this hair dye smells absolutely HORRIBLE. The whole time I was applying it to my hair my eyes were watering as well as my nose burning. It felt like I had inhaled a ton of chemicals, even almost 10 hours later It still feels as if I’d inhaled chemicals. Unfortunately I won’t be repurchasing due to this reason because I will not put myself through that again!sarah199
This was my first time dying my hair at home. I have medium brown hair and when longer it has natural highlights. Since I wear it short, the darker colors clash with the gray, so I got this since the box matched my natural color. It definitely covered all gray and was easy to apply (I used bowl and brush instead of squeeze bottle). However, it came out as a copper color highlighting my hair, not simple ash brown. I like the color, though! But it’s just not what was on the box. The other nice thing about this color compared to colors I’ve had at salons is it didn’t irritate my skin at all. I have very sensitive skin, and this didn’t sting or burn, like I’ve had from salons. Also a plus is the after color conditioner. It leaves your hair SOO soft and smooth. I’m continuing to use it about twice a week to keep my hair smooth since the small bottle lasts a while on short hair.LucasA
