I was prone to patchy red spots/lesions. Tried everything but only this works. Selenium sulfide is the main ingredient; other Selsun products with different main ingredients did not work. Must be left on for a few minutes so I begin my shower by lathering up with this and finish my shower with rinsing it out. Different things work for different people; selenium sulfide works for me.
I tried many anti-dandruff products and nothing worked for me except Selsun. The blue colour combination with mild scent is good for people like me who don't like extra smelly. I use twice weekly and I should say after 2nd week, I started to see much improvement with my hair with reduction in scalp dandruff. Also it doesn't leave my hair rough, thanks to the moisturizer property. Among so many online sites, I found 'i-herb' to be cheapest one. This is literally the only shampoo I can use on my scalp. If I don’t use it, super itchy scalp and so much dandruff us back but when im consistently using it, scalp is in amazing health. I hated the smell at first but its something im used to now and it reminds me of Irish soap. If I want to use my smell good shampoo then I do my first rinse with this shampoo (2 rinses with selsun if theres a lot if build up) and then I go in with my smell good shampoo and conditioner. I was very disappointed I love this shampoo I have ordered it a couple other times. I did not know they had smaller bottles and I probably would have known by the price but it said $5 and something off that would be approximate price with that added on for the next size which is much larger. okay yeah I think it was costly for the size but the bottle that lid was not tight. is Ashley leaks out in a plastic bag thank goodness for that down to where the label starts. I don't remember if they had white protectors when you open the lid to pull off I can't remember that. I will not bother bringing it back I need some now. if there was something supposed to be over the top of that bottle, it is a little scary. I received the Oribe Serene Scalp Balancing Shampoo. I was excited and anxious to give this a try. The product’s packaging is simple but classy. The shampoo is a white color and has a light floral fragrance. I have naturally wavy hair and my scalp can sometimes be dry. I tried the Oribe scalp balancing conditioner but wasn’t in love. I received this shampoo complimentary of influenster. This shampoo has a thick consistency and gives a luxurious lather. I love the way this smells, so fresh and spa like. When I received this product, I was actually dealing with a very dry and flaky scalp, very annoying. Since I've used this product along with the conditioner, I've noticed my scalp has been much more moisturized. It's definitely helped with the dry scalp in that sense, but it hasn't quite taken away the dandruff. I can part my hair a day before wash day and I can see a bit of dandruff. I will say it's definitely not flaky anymore though and it's not as noticeable. I just expected it to remove more of the dandruff over time since salicylic acid is highlighted as one of the ingredients, but instead it just moisturized my scalp enough so my dandruff isn't as noticable. Would I buy this after I finish the bottle? Honestly, it's just okay for me. I have untreated 2a/b hair that is rarely heat styled. I do have thyroid disease which can cause it to frizz, but I have an excellent stylist. My scalp tends to get oily if I use the wrong cleansers or conditioners. Pros: I didn't have a problem with oiliness after 3 days, the shampoo does not seem to have a scent, it's very think and concentrated, and has a decent lather (definitely not a clarifying shampoo, however). Cons: My hair doesn't feel quite as clean as I'd like. I washed twice, but it had a sort of coated feel, almost thicker. When dry my hair feels soft and smooth and even silky, but it's definitely not as bouncy. I did not notice a difference with scalp itchiness or dandruff. Verdict: It's just ok. I have been using Selsun Blue Naturals for YEARS! It takes less than other soaps becuz it is more potent. It IS thinner in consistency but that helps it get to your scalp and soak into your skin faster! I use it as shampoo, facial wash, AND body wash. It is the ONLY thing that prevents my breakouts. I got horrible breakouts on my head and body when I did not use this. I went from using a 2% salicylic acid shampoo, it got discontinued, and for 5 years I struggled with painful bumps under my skin. Head and Shoulders just did not work! I researched “what soaps contained salicylic acid”, and Selsun Blue Naturals come up. I bought it in store and have used it for 10 years since!. I have gifted this to a friend who has skin conditions and it helped her dry patches clear up. It doesn’t creates loads of lather. The chemical that causes lather is not needed that much in soap nor does it do the cleaning part of what you paid for (just wanted to clear that up). Also, it is thinner so your skin will absorb it and then be able to be scratched off when you scrub. The thinner a solution is the easier and faster it is for your skin to reply to it! I am allergic to everything but the scent is very nice and clean and not flowery or perfumey. Also, this stuff work beautifully to clear out my pores on my head/body/face in a timely manor. I haven’t had a breakout in 10 years from this stuff. I use it on my face with my Clarisonic brush. Also, I am very pale w/ sensitive skin, and have mixed ethnicity hair. I love Selsun for my sensitive scalp (for seborrheic dermatitis, not dandruff) and usually use the regular or medicated formulas with pyrithione zinc or selenium sulfide but I'm not the biggest fan of the pale blue or vibrant green (in the medicated) colors. I bought this one without reading the active ingredient is salicylic acid. This formula is much more sudsy than the other formulas and my scalp fares OK on it (if my scalp is about 95% good on the other formulas, this one makes it about 80%), but I find it extremely drying on my body. After showering, the skin on my back feels extremely tight and I'd have to moisturize there, whereas that's not a concern with the other formulas (or most other shampoos, I'd say). However, maybe that's exactly what you want if you're suffering from bacne! My hair also seems the tiniest bit drier, but that could just be the current arid weather. This formula might be ok for other folk, depending on your need, but I'm going back to one of the other active ingredients.creed

This shampoo is basically the only thing keeping my dry scalp under control at this point. Usually, I have pretty bad scaling around my hairline and at the back of my head, along with itching, but this shampoo helps keep it to manageable levels. The smell isn’t wonderful — it’s kind of plastic-y, but I use conditioner afterwards so it’s fine. The shampoo has not magically cured my dry scalp, but it’s a noticeable improvement. the only reason why I didn’t give this product 5 stars is because it is drying – however I solved this issue by using my regular conditioner. no issue. I started using this shampoo over the summer because I have thick curly hair that is pretty coarse and I always have product buildup which then turns into dandruff. by my third use, my hair was literally flake free. it’s my favorite shampoo and I urge everybody to try it. i’m aware it might not work for everybody, but it’s done wonders for me. in all honesty, I haven’t even used this shampoo since november because my scalp has cleared up that much since june, for the first time in years. I was very disappointed I love this shampoo I have ordered it a couple other times. I did not know they had smaller bottles and I probably would have known by the price but it said $5 and something off that would be approximate price with that added on for the next size which is much larger. okay yeah I think it was costly for the size but the bottle that lid was not tight. is Ashley leaks out in a plastic bag thank goodness for that down to where the label starts. I don't remember if they had white protectors when you open the lid to pull off I can't remember that. I will not bother bringing it back I need some now. if there was something supposed to be over the top of that bottle, it is a little scary. I don't think there's anything that could have been put in there that would harm my head less they put something in it to seep into my brain that's bad haha LOL seriously I think it should be safe to use. So heres the deal: for many years, I have dealt with red, burning, itching, flaking skin in certain spots on my scalp and on my face including in my beard (yup eww). I have been told most of my life that I had sensitive skin and the rash was mild dermatitis, psoriasis, eczema, etc. However, none of the treatments for those ever worked. Then, I read an article after a Google search (yup I became that guy) that suggested these symptoms could be fungal and described the same types of flare ups I have experienced for over thirty years. Folks, even water used to burn when it was bad. Yes, I had been to doctors. Yes, I tried diet and lifestyle changes. Yes, I stopped using all types of potentially irritating products. Nothing worked. Then, one article suggested this particular shampoo worked on fungal infections that were the cause of these types of flare ups and that were mistakenly diagnosed as psoriasis, eczema, et al. So, with nothing really to lose, I bought a bottle and gave it a try. I shampooed my hair and beard with the product as indicated in the article and – no kidding here – one application changed my freakin life. The itching and burning stopped immediately. No joke. I have been using it now for several weeks (bottle says to use for eight weeks and I will) and this is the first time since my early twenties that I have been free of the itching, burning, and embarrassing redness. Seriously. Changed my life. And I just bought more so I have it on hand for another cycle in case any symptoms come back after the first eight week cycle. First of all I only gave the scent a 4 star and that's not because it smells bad but because it doesn't have a scent that necessarily appeals to my love of smells. So that being said I am absolutely pleased with this product and it's ability to clear up the issues I began having which I believe to be serrobic dermatitis although I skipped the recommended Dr visit to be sure. At 40 I suddenly began getting terrible dandruff and the t-zone of my face, including on my eyebrows, started flaking despite looking oily enough to fry potatoes in on a hot day. I felt like something in between a deep fryer and a snow globe and neither was the look I was going for so I figured I'd give this stuff a try and within one week of use all of my issues were gone. Well almost all of them but that's because there's some issues no shampoo or soap or anything of the sort will ever wash away?? Now that the issues on the outer part of my head are gone I only use this once a week as a preventative measure which seems to work fine. I should mention that I've found wetting my hair, applying a little, rinsing, than reapplying works great for getting a better lather. I am also happy with the fact that I can actually use just this and skip the conditioner and my hair is soft and maneageble which is not usually the case with shampoo alone and my fro. This is the best shampoo on the market for people with moderate to severe dandruff, psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis. After a hair treatment at a salon I started having dandruff. No matter how my psoriasis or dry scalp gets, one use of this and my scalp looks clear again. I use this with every wash as a first shampoo to give the scalp a good clean and then follow up with another gentle shampoo without SLS and Paraben. The shampoo spreads better when my scalp is already wet so I always do a quick rinse with a tiny amount of regular shampoo. Then I take small amounts and work on different parts of my scalp, rubbing it until the entire scalp is well-coated. However, if you have long hair ONLY APPLY IT TO YOUR SCALP! It only works on dandruff so applying it to the rest of your hair is a waste and unnecessary! I also use lukewarm to cold water, not hot. For the rest of my hair, I use either conditioner or a gentle scented shampoo cause I don’t want the rest of my hair to catch the scent. I leave it on a little cause It needs time to work on your scalp, particularly if it’s your first time. Put it on well before you step into the shower/bath if you take less than 10 minutes. At the end of the shower, I rinse out the Jason shampoo, and use conditioner on my scalp to help keep my hair moisturized and also to get rid of some of the smell.Maya
Been using this hair shampoo for years. Now mostly for maintenance, i will use it at least 2 times a week. Last time i used it daily for 1month+, applied on scalp, leave it 5min before wash & repeat it again. My scalp is oily sensitive with dandruff due to seborrheic dermatitis, so I'm glad to be able to find this excellent high quality shampoo in iherb, scent not that nice, not much foam but what most important it is able to keep my dandruff at bay. Especially during menstruation, hormones changed and some dandruff like dry skin will suddenly appeared on my ears area during that few days so i will applied some and wait for a few 1min before washing off and it really moisturize my skin, solved the problem. I have oily scalp and dandruff, dry and damaged hair. I used to rebond my hair a lot for many years, which severely damaged my hair. I purchased this from from other store many moons ago and I liked it. it was sulfate free, foams well, rinses off clean, cleanse and cools the scalp and has mint & rosemary oil which I like for my scalp. This is somewhat a repeat purchase but I am disappointed when I look at the ingredients list; it has been reformulated!!!! Even the descriptions and wordings have changed slightly. It used to say "formulated without sulfate". Now it says "formulated without sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate", because this new formulation is using sodium coco-sulfate which is identical to sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate😂. I'm going to wash my toilet bowl with this sodium coco-SULFATE shampoo and forget it ever existed. There's nothing wrong with sulfate.I just prefer a good sulfate free shampoo. I have ongoing dry, itchy, flaky scalp issues that are more annoying than severe. This smells pleasant and has a light tingle. My hair felt softer, better and more manageable after use. This shampoo has a very drying formula with two short chain i.e. "bad" alcohols that cause dryness. It's advertised "no harsh sulfates" yet a sulfate is the fourth ingredient (hence the generous lather.) and another further down the list. I bought without reviewing the ingredients but after i noticed both my bf's and my own hair was increasingly dry, poofy, and more prone to tangles, i looked at the ingredients closer. I won't be purchasing this again or any other shampoo from the Avalon line though the scents are nice and natural and the big lather makes hair feel squeaky (too!!) clean. The scent does not read as either tea tree or pure mint to me, but a nice light grassy floral scent.sayeo

I've been using this for about a year now, and so far it's done well in every season. I have long fine hair, and it doesn't weigh it down or dry it out. I do use Jack Blacks hair and scalp conditioner (the green bottle) with it, after reading reviews of other people with fine hair using it, so that could also be why it doesn't dry out my hair. I find I can go one extra day without the need to wash my hair due to dandruff with this. Before I tried most brands and none worked, or would only temporarily keep dandruff away for 2 days max, or weigh down my hair. So relieved to find this. I do keep it on for the full few minutes as recommended, and do a thorough lather in sections so every bit of my scalp gets this shampoo. When I have to rush I find it doesn't work as well, so be sure to keep it on for 2+ minutes!Jess
Since I don't have dandruff (and have never indicated that I do) I was a little surprised to get this shampoo to review. I've used Biolage products before, though, so I figured it would probably be decent. The shampoo is VERY foamy. Usually, I stick to sulfate-free shampoo to preserve my brightly colored hair, so I am NOT used to that much lather! And of course, the introduction of sulfates means it did help to fade my hair quite a bit. (I chose to use this as an opportunity to do a shade change.) My dry scalp is happy and doesn't feel "tight" after washing. The fragrance is powerful but pleasant; I enjoy a scented shower. I don't know that I'd ever purchase this, because I do not have dandruff and because of the sulfites.catherine.o
I enjoyed this shampoo and after using it for several weeks, I think it's good at being a keeping the dandruff at bay. I've struggled with an oily, flaky scalp for years and this has made a huge difference. I generally try to wash my hair every other day to maintain a decent look (wfh life) but depending on life, it can get stretched to two. If it goes to a third, it would be because I am positive I'm not going to be seen in public. With this shampoo, I could probably throw my hair on a ponytail feel okay on public, it's thay effective at keeping the oil and dandruff at bay. The shampoo itself is white, not too thick or thin, and feels slightly refreshing with the mint. It lathers well and helps my hair feel clean without being stripped. So far I've only used it once but am really impressed. My nasty swamp scalp hasn't felt this clean in years. My flat hair has volume and the lengths are lightly moisturized. moisturized. I used the scalp revival exfoliator in the jar years ago but didn't care for it. I like the no added fragrances or silicones because I have low porosity strands and extremely sensitive skin. My face did not react when it got all over me washing it off which is rare. If I feel it becomes less effective, I will just follow it up with a coal tar shampoo (yeah I know, the dreaded coal tar) for more sticking power on the dermal cells. Coal tar works best when the stuff that has already flaked off is removed. You have to let this shampoo marinate on your head a few minutes under a shower cap or else it doesn't really get in there. It smells like tea tree oil (not overpowering) right out of the bottle but I didn't notice the smell sticking around on my hair.smes
This shampoo has a pretty coal color with iridescence to it. The shampoo others really well so, you really don't need much when you're using it. It has a distinct tea tree fragrance that it's too overpowering. The rich lather really helps lift the roost do the hair and allow you to get the shampoo close to the scalp. It really helps remove flakiness and treat dry patches on the scalp. It's a very soothing formula and it really helps settle any itchiness. The formula is hydrating and while it cleanses the hair really well, it isn't stripping to the hair. I color treated hair and it doesn't remove my hair color. This formula definitely eliminated my dandruff issue and prevents my scalp from feeling itchy before my next hair wash day. The charcoal really helps detox the scalp from use of hair products and build up. I'm really impressed with this formula and it's one I highly recommend!
So let me start by saying, I am absolutely obsessed with their entire Scalp Repair line. And seeing this come out, I was so excited to complete my set. My scalp gets dry, flaky, and unbalanced especially during the winter and I’ve never found a shampoo that exfoliated without drying me out more. First off, I rarely leave reviews unless I was amazed how good or how awful something is. I had moderate to bad dandruff for over a decade. I tried everything form the commercial ani-dandruff shampoo, a prescription shampoo, harsh stuff like coal tar, natural / organic shampoos, weird remedies like apple cider vengar, hair washing frequency, but nothing worked more than maybe a week. I tried Nizoral about 18 months ago and within 7-10 days my dandruff cleared up. I still use it once or twice a week. It's been over a year and a half and the dandruff has not returned. Sometime ago I got braids that were too tight and it caused my scalp to become irritated and inflamed. No matter how much I washed my hair the dandruff would not go away to the point of scabs forming on my head. I tried different products shampoos, creams, etc nothing worked. One day I googled and saw a recommendation for Nizoral. I hesitated because of the price but it was worth every dime. I saw a difference after the first wash. The first time I used it, it tingled on my scalp. When I went to dry my hair I realized no flakes. Even after days later. After months of trying everything, for the first time, my hair was dandruff free. I wish I found this product sooner. The dandruff around my scalp edge -gone. The scabs on the back of my head -gone. My head doesn’t itch. (My dandruff was so bad i could pull it off my scalp in flakes and shake it out like dust.)
I am so happy that I found this product! I will use it until the end of the bottle and then stop it see if my scalp is “cured”. My hair is growing back. I thought I was going to have to live with these flakes and scabs for this rest of my life.

This is going to sound very disgusting but at one point many years ago I had dandruff really really bad. At least I thought it was the address. I kept using every single day and your shampoo I could find and it did very little. My skin on my scalp would flake and almost healed to the point of being a lot like cradle cap that little babies have. I couldn’t understand why I had this horrible Dandruff and why nothing I would buy would do anything to help it. Finally I was able to see a dermatologist who gave me a prescription shampoo and told me I’d had sebbhoreic dermatitis. Once my prescription ran out I was not able to go back to my dermatologist and there was quite the wait so I decided to try some other shampoos after reading online. This was one that I had seen recommended by other people. Nizoral actually helped my condition and I was quite surprised that they didn’t need a prescription shampoo. I don’t see my dermatologist very often and to get in there is a bit of a wait so I don’t bother anymore. After having my daughter in Dec 2020 I struggled my dandruff when I never had it in my life. It was soo bad I never wanted to have my hair down I was VERY subconscious about it. I’ve had to use this for most of my life due to hereditary dry scalp, and sensitive scalp. I’ve used many other medicated shampoos, but nothing has worked as well as this one. First and foremost, I think it's important to note that this product may have been made for people of color primarily in mind. For me, it's the name, the ingredients, and even the fragrance that brings that to mind. Customarily, I use Head & Shoulder's 2-in-1 Shampoo and Conditioner product on my curly and coily hair for ease as well as to treat my dandruff problem. The Royal Oil shampoo has a similar texture as the aforementioned product, but with a smell that is light, yet musky. It's very refreshing! On rinsing it off, I find my head feels smooth, not waxy as some other shampoos leave your hair feeling. The conditioner feels like lotion when applied and doesn't appear to spread well. After leaving it in your hair for a while, however, I was surprised to notice how the product seemed to foam on my head making it much easier to rinse off. Got this because it seems suitable for sensitive skin. It is hard to find a dandruff shampoo that does not contain harsh ingredients or preservatives. Update: 1) Seems to be helping my son's scalp acne. 2) Did not foam up well for me – I have thick, shoulder-length hair. Free and Clear Shampoo is now Vanicream Shampoo. Odd name since it doesn't smell like vanilla, but it does clean the hair without too many chemicals or perfume. Got my first one at CVS for $11 but the price went up by $2-3 dollars. Walmart.com has a two pack that's worth the price. Got it sooner than expected too.Maria
A miracle potion I swear. Had itchy scalp with dandruff for TWO YEARS before I found this magical shampoo. Not a flake in sight, and I never itch anymore. It took 4 uses over a span of about 6 weeks. I followed the instructions left it on my scalp for a few minutes and rinsed and repeated it. I’m in awe and had recommended this to all my friends! Didn’t even get through the whole bottle yet and I’m completely healed. I’m so happy and btw I only used it on my scalp the rest of my hair I used my Paul Mitchell tea tree shampoo and then conditioner my whole head with the Paul Mitchell tea tree conditioner. This has shampoo has saved my sanity!! Have have suffered from severe pyrolysis of the scalp and behind ears for over 20 years. My scalp would bleed constantly due to how tight my scalp was and have huge scaps of dry skin. Very embarrassing & could never wear dark colours incase ppl saw dry flakes all over my top. After much money spent amd years trying different shampoos and lotions to no effect. 3 weeks in i am itch and pyrolysis free. I have suffered with seborrheic dermatitis & psoriasis on the scalp for ever which presents worse when I am under stress. In the past I have tried many products which frustratingly take a long time to work & have unpleasant scents. This shampoo has a lovely jelly-like texture that lathers beautifully, a gentle herbal smell & doesn’t strip my hair. My scalp is improving although I have only used it twice. I've tried a couple of other products but none that work as well as this one! I have an oily scalp that leaves my roots feeling greasy soon after a wash day. I've been trying to train my hair by washing it 3 days a week and this has definitely helped after the longest break in between washes. Its strong enough to remove all the oil, grease, dandruff, and flakey skin but gentle in that it doesn't strip my scalp. It does a great job at getting rid of layers of dry shampoo, hair masks, and heat protectant without drying out my ends. I use it with a scalp massager which really helps to get into every nook and cranny. As I only use it once a week, it has so far lasted me a good while. Got this first trial and I am really impressed by this. Had this for a week putting on and letting it sit for couple of minutes, then washed it off. The flakes have seems to have gone away. Goes great with an after conditioner. The smell is great and has given great results. I haven't seen any dandruff in a while. I have never tried this brand before and was expecting the color to be blue which doesn't matter just something I expected. With my first use, I expected a bit more substance as I squirted it in my hand and I quickly realized I needed more to get a good lather going on top my head. I am a male with very short hair and a quarter-sized squirt of many shampoos is good enough for me but definitely had to almost double the squirt of Selsun Blue. When I began using this I didn't currently have any dandruff or visible flakes. I was just at the beginning stage of this winters harsh dry air giving me a random twinge here and there on my scalp that I have come to recognize every year as the onset of dry, itchy scalp and the dreaded dandruff if left untreated. I can say that this helped stop those twinges. I appreciate the 2-in-1 treatment of having the conditioner and shampoo as one, eliminating the extra step to use a conditioner that would be beneficial for dry scalp.TheBeatles1
This shampoo made my dandruff disappear within a week. It’s fast, efficient and cost effective . I used it on my bleach blonde hair without it stripping my color . It conditioned well, however I would recommend you still conditioning your hair with your favorite conditioner for a smoother less tangly look. I always have to keep a bottle for when my scalp gets too oily and I began getting the dandruff. I use it about three times I week, every other week. You can use it more frequently.bella.r
