This razor is amazing the design is easy to grip and your able to shave even difficult places with it! The blades are sharp and cut smoothly and effectively! It is easy to hang in to as well! It also is great for sensitive dry skin because the razor helps prevent dry skin and razor burn! It left my skin feeling soft and hydrated! It also provided a nice close shave! I needed more razors so instead of buying them in a store again I decided to look online and found these sold in groups of 40. It is the best price per razor I could find both online and stores. My facial hair isn't very thick so I only have to shave every 2 to 3 days and change the razor every two months. This lot of 40 will last me about 6.5 years! If you're someone that needs to shave every day or even twice a day this still a screamin' deal cause you can't beat the price per razor. The only thing I don't like about the hydro 5 is the fold up thing at the end with the white dots, they come in blue and the sensative razors are green. I the razors were perfect before they started adding that flip up bar thing. When I shave I do 2 maybe 3 passes per area to get all the stubble. Having that bar with dots on end removes the remaining moisture of the shaving gel from my face and when I make a 2nd or 3 pass my skin is dry and more sensative to the razor and will leave red rashy looking patches. I put the razor on the handle and pull the green thing back until it pops out of the hinge points and throw it away. It doesn't break though because it is made of a flexible plastic. That's just one man's opinion, maybe other guys like it.hkc425

This razor is very sharp and easy to use. It gives me smooth and clean results after using it. No stubble or prickly skin anymore. My wife lives how smooth my face is after I shave with this razor. For my beard, this Razor Blade works great! I have medium to thick beard so I change the blade out twice a week. This way I always have a sharp blade. The price is very moderate so I don't worry about waiting until the blade starts to pull at my beard. The quality control on this blade is very consistent. I have run across a few blades that I replaced early, but that happens with most any brand. I purchase the Derby Extra blades in the 100 count box so I get a bit more than a year's supply. I have used Derby blades in the past. I purchased them in Africa when I ran out of cartridge blades, normally used when I travel. I had a safety razor back up in my luggage. Derby’s are not very well made, and tend to have residual micro-burrs from not being finished well at the factory. Every time I used one, I nicked myself, even though I have used both straight and safety razors for decades and have mastered the techniques for both. I used up an entire styptic pencil. Although they widely available world-wide, I would not recommend them as a purchase. There are better blades out there, such as Doric, Personna, Feather, Gillette, etc. The price point is low for a reason.Anthony M.

I have used every blade that's out their. and still try any new one's that come out. and Derby is one of the best overall. blades I have used. and believe me I like it. it is my primary blade. may not work for everyone of us guys. you now different faces. and such. also found out. that some blades work better with some double edge shavers. better then others. so sometimes it' won't be the blade but the double edge shaver.I had over 14 double edge shavers and different shave brushes. [ boar. horse hair. silver tip. etc etc. ] it all comes down to matching up the right blade with the right double edge. shaver. and to me anyone who has been shaving for years. should know this. buy what works for you . and try different shavers and blades. till you find one that works for you. I have since narrowed my collection down to seven double edge shavers. and seven brushes. and three different types of blades. one is derby. other is astra. and the third is voskhod. they seem to work for me. all well and in all my double edge razors. the others I got rid of them because some shavers no matter what did not work well with any double edge blades. and a lot of blades did not work well with my razors. but this is for my face only. what may or may not work for me. maybe great for you. so don't judge one blade against another unless you try them in at least three different shavers. You will see differences I also change blades every three days regardless . and I do shave every day. which may or may not make a difference. so the most I hope for is this helps someone. to find the best way to shave for themselves. and I use shaving pucks. favorite brush i silvertip. runner up horse hair. and third boar. and shaving soap. cheap versus expensive. cheap wins out. just as good as the expensive. I just go for price and scent. I keep now several shave brushes and double edge shavers. and numerous cheap pucks of different fragrances of soap just because I like to change off every three days. it makes for fun shaving. I worked in a small community drug store as a high school and college student, so I had access to a number of double-edge safety razors back in the early 70's. While I tried a number of brands available to me, I found the preferred double-edge razor blades to be the WInkinson Sword brand. After a few years, I had little time to shave on a daily basis and switched to disposables. Bad mistake!! A few years, I re-discovered the joy of safety razor shaving, and while I frequently received safety razor samples with a few of the double-edge shavers I purchased, I tried the Wilkinson Sword blades and found them to be as good now as previously. When I found a Net dealer selling them in bulk at a great price, I ordered 100 blades (20 packs of 5) and believe I should be well-stocked for a LOOOOONG TIME!!!house_of_capebreton

Hello and good day Ive been a avid wet shaver for years now and have tried Manny different blades and these are some of the best new blades you can get especially for the price these are the Wilkinson classic DE blades made in Germany now there are also the original old Wilkinson blades made in England those are even batter than the German made blades but also dont mistaken these for the Wilkinson saloon de blades those are not good at all the classic German made blades are far superior than the Wilkinson saloon blades but for this review these Wilkinson classic German made blades are better than most smooth, sharp, comfortable, fair priced, individually packaged, and long lasting if you havent tried them you should because they can easily become one of your top go to blades. These blades do not last quite as long as the ones I used before. BUT: They are very sharp and very gentle at the same time. You do get a really good shave and there are far fewer nicks, almost none! And because they are a good bit cheaper as my previous blades, their shorter lifespan does not matter so much. So yes, they deserve to be recommended.van-rooij

Well made, as advertised. In using it I am comparing it to Gilette Fusion 5 which I've been using for some time. 1. Handle is way slippery when using in shower. Big defect. Needs some kind of rubberized band to help hold it when hands are slippery with Cremo. 2. Difficult to expose the extra back-facing blade when razor is wet and in use. And that little blade doesn't seem to add much to the effect of the regular blades. 3. While the razor pivots up and down, it has almost no side-to-side movement, which is present in the Gillette razor, and helps with angles under chin, etc. Overall a well-made tool that has too many design defects to become my everyday razor.Tony

After attempting to shave with this razor and the Cremo Shave Cream, I have to, sadly, give my experiences very low marks. The balance of the razor is very nice. The handle, however, has almost zero grip and is very slippery if your hands are wet. It took me a lot longer to shave since I needed to re-scrape several times to remove my stubble down to a smooth feel of skin. The "Trim" blade is very cumbersome to open and close, too. If anyone at Cremo is actually reading this, I'd like to return my entire purchase for a Refund! I have gone back to using my trusty old Mach 3 for my facial grooming needs.Billyjoejimbob

The actual razor handle is well finished and feels good to hold. The actual razor blades seems to be the same design as Wilkinson Sword and Schlick razor heads. Difficult to tell if the steel is different or if the lubricant is different between the three brands. They probably come out of the same factory in China! However, the Cremo blades do feel good and it remains to be seen how long they last.Martino

When someone comes in for a tattoo we need to work on skin that is clean, free of blemishes and hair. When we need to make sure that there's no hair we use these razors. They are single-use razors; we never try to clean them or use them on another person because that's just asking for trouble. These are single blade razors so they aren't going to do a great job if you have a lot of hair to clear; you need to clean the blade often to avoid having hair get stuck between the blade and the top and bottom part of the plastic holder. If we are doing a large back piece on someone we only have to use one of these to clear the area but if someone has a lot of back hair, we might have to use two to avoid irritating the skin with a slightly dull blade. I get these for .17 cents a piece because I buy them in bulk; the five and ten packs in stores are relatively inexpensive when compared to other razors but they are single blade not multi blade. They are great if you are traveling and want something that is disposable. When I've used these in the past I never got any cuts from them but I only used them on my legs when I would grab one from the shop to take home and use when I was completely out of razors.AlexFortune

..they would just satisfy my value contention. You know…razors are very expensive these days, and when you find something that works, as this does, you want to be able to justify buying it. I found this razor to be the most comfortable shave I have experienced with a refillable. This is probably due to the various lube strips that completely surround the blades. At first I thought, that because of these, it would not last as long as other choices because the lube strips would wear away. I have been using this one for over a month (every day) and I can state that it still has life left to it. It is probably also around the top 15% of the closets shaves that i have gotten from a product of this type. When I first noticed this product on the shelves and took a good look at it, I noticed that it only had two blades. I thought that, because of this, it could not perform as well as the 5, 6, or 7 blade shavers..but it does and it even mostly out-performs them. This is where my value point comes and is what cost this product one star. The little voice inside me screams that it should cost less because of it has many less blades than the other leading choices out there. If you are someone who needs a solution to sensitive skin shaving, someone who does not have and issue with cost, or someone who just want to use a product that performs admirably, then this could be your shaver. I’ve never had the best luck when shaving. I’ve tried everything, 3 blades, 5 blades, disposables, electric razors, switching shaving creams, different techniques and still the same exact result… REDNESS AND BUMPS. Some worse than others but same thing every time. I saw the SkinGuard and thought I’d give it a try and see for myself if it would work for my super sensitive skin or if it was just a gimmick. My first shaving experience with the SkinGuard I was comfortable, and easy. I noticed no bumps or redness on my cheeks or neck area and was surprised. I gave it a few hours and still. NO REDNESS OR BUMPS. My second shave. Same thing. Third time around I had neglected the razor a few days and had some red bumps on my neck from letting it grow a little too long. I finally shaved and still no new bumps or redness. I’m starting to love this razor! I can finally have the wet shave experience without having to worry about unsightly bumps or irritation. It may not shave as close as some would like it to but my facial hair isn’t too thick so I don’t really have an issue with that. I would trade a baby’s bottom super close shave and my face littered with red bumps everywhere for a close enough shave and a comfortable smooth face any day of the week. I am giving this a good star quality because I'm a professional at using these particular razors. I want people to understand that I have watched people use these razors and butcher their legs shaving in the case of an inexperienced shaver. In which case they press way too hard when shaving with this razor. But I have used this razor so many times in my life to shave my legs that I can use this razor without even using water or moisturizer. My leg hairs are blondes so they are thin in the first place. However because my leg hairs are blond I tend to not shave often since it's harder to see my leg hairs and so when I do shave although my leg hairs are thin they tend to be double the length of anybody else's because I have let them grow out. Sometimes in the winter I only shave twice. So if you have thick hair or if you have long hair I tend to use these razors when I don't want to use water because long hair and thick hair will clog a razor very easily if you already have the razor wet. If you are using this razor and you use it dry then all you have to do to make sure the hair isn't stuck in the blade is tap it like three times on the edge of your sink and all the hair just pops out of the razor and you can go for another round. Wet hair in a razor is much harder to get out. And because I have the ability to use this razor without water the closeness of the shave is so much finer that your legs are left so smooth. Other razors like Venus razors have a head around them that would cause for your cut hairs to still be a little bit longer than I would prefer since I want to get right down to the leg. If you're going to use this razor for a dry shave be aware two things… First do not press hard because the sharpness of this razor will do its job without you pressing heart. And secondly if you have dry skin already use moisturizer afterwards because you don't want to give yourself razor burn when you are doing a dry shave. Best of luck everyone.liny.d

This is great product. Not only does it save room in the shower (no need to buy and store a bottle of shaving cream), but it also saves time by cutting out the need to wipe on shaving cream. This review is based off of a first impression use. I like the convenience of this razor with the built in moisturizing soap around the razor head. Because, a lot of time when I am in the shower, I get in a rush and forget to apply shaving cream/gel, so this razor makes it simpler to already have it built in. However, the soap head disappears and breaks down quickly. I am also not sure how much I like the handle of the razor, as it tends to slip and lose grip easily. The performance of the razor is ok. You would think with 4 blades you would get a smooth/close shave, but it doesn't really cut coarse hair very well (IMO). I experienced irritation to sensitive areas with this razor. However, I experience that with any razor, so I don't hold that against this product. So, if shaving intimate areas are sensitive to you when shaving, this razor will probably not prevent that. I bought this because I was curious how it would do and I didn’t like it that much. Cons – It’s hard to hold on to. I think because of the design ( it’s huge ) and because it has a thick moisturizing bar getting all over. The head is very wobbly and made me think I was going to cut myself. It’s pricey. Pro – You just need to buy cartridges. Surprisingly I didn’t cut myself with it. No razor burn. Lots of lather comes out. I think this would be good for someone just learning how to shave. Maybe I just don’t have the right technique down but I think razors should be easier to use. I wouldn’t repurchase. Edit – today I felt my legs and they feel very pokey. I love these razors. I've been using them since at least early 2000s. I'm still using the OG razor handle that is thicker than the newer ones that I've always found hard to handle. That's why I'm deducting 1 star. I wish they'd bring back the original handle. The razors themselves work really well for all over shaving. I have sensitive skin. I love the Schick Quattro. Since this razor is labeled "sensitive" I thought I'd try it. Even with lotion, my legs burned for a day and a half. Never had that issue with the Schick Quattro or Venus Smooth (as long as I use some lotion after). Was not expecting that at all; wish I could return it. Also, I had read that the Hydro doesn't have the wires over the blades like the Quattro to prevent nicks. I figured I'd be fine without them, but I nicked myself 3 times. I switched to these a few years ago. I like the handle, the versatility, and how many handle options there are. I don’t use the trimmer much, but I like the bulk of that handle a lot. I agree, the blades can dull a bit, but I only shave my legs a few times a week. They seem to last long enough for me. I use shave gel, perhaps that also helps too. I would recommend. I do not see myself changing from these. I have literally tried so many other options, this one I have stuck with. I do like the razor/gel combo devices and the double razors that you basically use in a scrubbing motion as there are blades facing both directions, those do work the absolute best for me, but I think those were rather pricey.JP

WELL, I came to the web site today hoping to find an instructional video or at least instructions on how to attach a refill blade/cartrage for my Hydro Silk 5. Nothing!! Which was disappointing as I continue to have the same issue with this product over the past 3+ years. So as a last resort thought perhaps someone within the reviews would have experienced the same and shed some light with "a simple how to"…nada! However…I did come across two recent and very informational reviews (flygirl1523 · 8 months ago & Makaylah · a year ago + a couple of others) related to skin irritations, rashes and Eczema. BINGO!! I have sensitive skin, suffer from Eczema and have spent 2 years in and out of Doctors (Internist, Dermatology, Allergist) offices, not to mention many $$'s on cortisone shots, twice daily creams and prescription drugs trying to determine why I have reoccurring extreme episodes of painful burning rashes (my pictures would be worth a 1,000 words). I will be sharing all of this information with all three of my doctors and hopefully this just might shed some light on my miserable problem.Cheryl

These blades do not work. They do not cut facial hair or thin leg hair. They do irritate skin and they did give me and my husband rashes. I have been using the Hydro 5 blades in various dry skin/sensitive skin for over four years and have progressively noticed the declining quality in a clean easy shave. Causing rashes and leaving patches of hair were not an issue until my last purchase. I am so disappointed and, sadly, I cannot recommend Schick products. (Nor can I recommend Gillette or Harry's or Dollar Shave Club – all of these products have failed my Husband and I). I do want to say that customer service reps were very empathetic, but I'm afraid this is still a large company who is vastly removed from their customers.Disappointed Daisy

I HATE SHAVING! Nuff said. I have tried every razor, soap, cream, and lather known to man in order to mitigate the scourge of scraping off facial hair. The Schick Hydro Razor and Hydro Cream combo are about as nothing as you can get…and by nothing I mean good. You use the cream, get out the razor, and you feel…well, nothing! The save is that smooth. I have no stock in Schick and I do not care if you buy or not. Personally, I think the price of each cartridge is a little high, but I can get 10-12 shaves per cartridge which works out to about $0.25 per shave. I now tolerate shaving and my face feels as smooth as a baby's bottom every time.Dr Sam

Being relatively new to shaving with a safety razor, I was looking for a DE blade that was sharp enough for my coarse whiskers and smooth enough to not irritate my skin. The Gillette Silver Blue blades provided me with exactly what I was looking for. I comfortably got four shaves with my 34C, without trying to push my luck. A great blade at a great price!Bryan H.

This blade works well in my Edwin Jagger 3One6. The first shave seemed a little rougher than expected – possibly due to the blade’s coating – but subsequently offered smooth, close shaving. The sharpness of this blade was outstanding. I swapped it after a week but suspect that a single blade could last me even longer. These are clearly well-made and high quality blades.George F

These are my favorite blades. I get close to 10 very comfortable shaves with each blade. The guard flips back, making it easy to rinse them. Supposedly, there is a trimmer, but I have not figured out where it is. Unfortunately, these blades are one of those items that are attractive to counterfeiters, along with AA batteries and SD memory cards. Therefore, you cannot safely buy them anywhere but from a major brick and mortar retailer. (Notice the 1-star reviews on A*****. Those people probably got counterfeit blades). I'm guessing they changed the ingredients or something because my legs are actually in pain. I did my usual routine of soaking in a warm bath for a little while before shaving. I got one leg done and was halfway through the second when the first leg started burning and it felt like my skin was being pulled tight, then the other leg started. Now both legs feel like I rubbed them with sandpaper even after washing them with Aveeno a couple of times, patting them dry and putting on lotion to try and ease the pain. I am not happy. And the real kicker besides the horrible burn is that my legs don't even feel smooth. They feel like they have a good days worth of stubble still. If I still had my receipt I would demand a refund.Haven
