..they would just satisfy my value contention. You know…razors are very expensive these days, and when you find something that works, as this does, you want to be able to justify buying it. I found this razor to be the most comfortable shave I have experienced with a refillable. This is probably due to the various lube strips that completely surround the blades. At first I thought, that because of these, it would not last as long as other choices because the lube strips would wear away. I have been using this one for over a month (every day) and I can state that it still has life left to it. It is probably also around the top 15% of the closets shaves that i have gotten from a product of this type. When I first noticed this product on the shelves and took a good look at it, I noticed that it only had two blades. I thought that, because of this, it could not perform as well as the 5, 6, or 7 blade shavers..but it does and it even mostly out-performs them. This is where my value point comes and is what cost this product one star. The little voice inside me screams that it should cost less because of it has many less blades than the other leading choices out there. If you are someone who needs a solution to sensitive skin shaving, someone who does not have and issue with cost, or someone who just want to use a product that performs admirably, then this could be your shaver. I’ve never had the best luck when shaving. I’ve tried everything, 3 blades, 5 blades, disposables, electric razors, switching shaving creams, different techniques and still the same exact result… REDNESS AND BUMPS. It may not shave as close as some would like it to but my facial hair isn’t too thick so I don’t really have an issue with that. I have sensitive skin, and thicker hair, and usually can't shave everyday because I'll get bumps on my neck, uneven shave, and too much irritation to make it worth it. I thought I'd give this sensitive razor a try. I use the other hydro razor with more blades with better results. First off I thought I was getting a good shave, and without irritation, but I was wrong. Once the water hit my face and neck to rinse my shave cream off I felt the sting of disappointment. I thought it's not too bad, at least I got a good shave. Then I got cleaned up, and looked in the mirror, and it was spottier than a spring rain system in the south. I almost had to go behind with my other razor. I ended up letting it grow out an extra day before shaving again. I'll give this one more try, but I don't think I'll be going back with this one.TechDude39
This is nice for those that have issues shaving with multi-blade cartridges below the nose. It also. works pretty good with Hydro Sense shave cream. You can make many strokes without having to stop for clogged blades. The stubble & shave cream will just be pushed through to the backside of the cartridge as you shave your face. It seems this is due to having more space with less blades. The shave is pretty smooth when you're finished and the blades seem durable. The problem is that this thing does not shave like the 5,6 blade cartridges. It's a slightly different angle and not forgiving. If you think you're going to try this out for the 1st time and just quick shave over your face with some pressure for closeness. You're probably going to be bleeding. I found that out on my first try. I seen a review on Amazon that was critical due to getting nicks. So, I wasn't the only one. I tried this razor being more careful and also, shaved my shoulder area etc. I was able to get a good shave without nicks. So, I'm not throwing it away and giving it a 1 star review. The Schick Hydro Skin Comfort razor is a great all around razor that didn't tug any facial hairs or leave my skin red and burned. I used warm/hot water on face using a washcloth to stimulate the hairs before shaving, then lather on the shaving gel. This razor glided smoothly across my face catching every hair along the way. 3 blades is plenty – any more than that is just overkill. The slim head allows to get under the nose easily. The gel pads provide nice cushion and soothing while blade move across face. The pivot head works very well for going over the jaw line. I needed more razors so instead of buying them in a store again I decided to look online and found these sold in groups of 40. It is the best price per razor I could find both online and stores. My facial hair isn't very thick so I only have to shave every 2 to 3 days and change the razor every two months. This lot of 40 will last me about 6.5 years! If you're someone that needs to shave every day or even twice a day this still a screamin' deal cause you can't beat the price per razor. The only thing I don't like about the hydro 5 is the fold up thing at the end with the white dots, they come in blue and the sensative razors are green. I the razors were perfect before they started adding that flip up bar thing. When I shave I do 2 maybe 3 passes per area to get all the stubble. Having that bar with dots on end removes the remaining moisture of the shaving gel from my face and when I make a 2nd or 3 pass my skin is dry and more sensative to the razor and will leave red rashy looking patches. I put the razor on the handle and pull the green thing back until it pops out of the hinge points and throw it away. It doesn't break though because it is made of a flexible plastic. The build quality of the Feather AS-D2 is superb. I'm used to using a Merkur HD (and a few other straight razors) primarily for the past 15 years and the build quality of the Feather is in another league in comparison. Additionally, the Feather feels heavier in the hand. I've had four shaves with the Feather so far using a Feather blade and the shaves have been fantastic. The blade angle and small blade gap make for a very mild shave, which is great for my sensitive skin. There was a bit of a learning curve in the first couple shaves as compared to my Merkur HD with regards to blade angle, but I find the Feather to be very forgiving. For my face, I've always needed to keep mindful of the amount of strokes and overlap with the Merkur, however, so far I'm finding that it's actually been tough to over do it with the Feather. Started using Harry's a few months ago after using Gillete Contour for decades. I either couldn't find Contour blades or they were getting to silly prices. I tried a couple of other brands then I read about Harry's and tried them. Even a slight upgrade in the razor itself cost less than a packet of Contour blades so it was a no-brainer. Verdict: Excellent shave; excellent value; simplicity itself to order new blades; price of new blades direct from Harry's is less than anything I've noticed (including Contour) and delivery of blades can be counted in hours not days. PS For decades I've preferred shaving foam as I always found gel fussy and not satisfactory. At one point I even preferred a soap holder with a pretty fancy shaving brush but I think I got lazy and went back to cans of foam. As part of the introductory deal from Harry's I got gel. It's excellent and I'll be re-ordering that when required and again, no doubt, I'll get it delivered promptly and without hassle.Roddy
Harry's is a classic case of "you get what you pay for". Everything about them is subpar… except the packaging. But I can't shave with a nice-looking box (no matter how good the font looks).
Blades and head are flimsy, and the head clogs way too easily. Tapping the handle on the faucet in an effort to unclog the head just ends up with the head falling off. Between the necessity of multiple passes to get as close as Gillette and the necessity of laboriously unclogging the head after every few strokes, you can't get a close shave nearly as quickly.
The gel shaving cream turns into a patchy, gunky mess within seconds of application. The more I tried to smooth it out evenly across my face, the patchier/messier it got.

Decided to try these base on cost. Found you get what you pay for:/ I have shaved four times and only one of those times did I have a single cut. The other three times I had multiple cuts! Two of the four times I put in a new blade, but this didn't help either. I generally use a more expensive brand, but I've had better luck with disposables! I have sensitive skin. I love the Schick Quattro. Since this razor is labeled "sensitive" I thought I'd try it. Even with lotion, my legs burned for a day and a half. Never had that issue with the Schick Quattro or Venus Smooth (as long as I use some lotion after). Was not expecting that at all; wish I could return it. Also, I had read that the Hydro doesn't have the wires over the blades like the Quattro to prevent nicks. I figured I'd be fine without them, but I nicked myself 3 times. I haven't done that since I was a teenager.Jamie
I switched to these a few years ago. I like the handle, the versatility, and how many handle options there are. I don’t use the trimmer much, but I like the bulk of that handle a lot. I agree, the blades can dull a bit, but I only shave my legs a few times a week. They seem to last long enough for me. I use shave gel, perhaps that also helps too. I would recommend. I do not see myself changing from these. I have literally tried so many other options, this one I have stuck with. I do like the razor/gel combo devices and the double razors that you basically use in a scrubbing motion as there are blades facing both directions, those do work the absolute best for me, but I think those were rather pricey.JP
WELL, I came to the web site today hoping to find an instructional video or at least instructions on how to attach a refill blade/cartrage for my Hydro Silk 5. Nothing!! Which was disappointing as I continue to have the same issue with this product over the past 3+ years. So as a last resort thought perhaps someone within the reviews would have experienced the same and shed some light with "a simple how to"…nada! However…I did come across two recent and very informational reviews (flygirl1523 · 8 months ago & Makaylah · a year ago + a couple of others) related to skin irritations, rashes and Eczema. BINGO!! I have sensitive skin, suffer from Eczema and have spent 2 years in and out of Doctors (Internist, Dermatology, Allergist) offices, not to mention many $$'s on cortisone shots, twice daily creams and prescription drugs trying to determine why I have reoccurring extreme episodes of painful burning rashes (my pictures would be worth a 1,000 words). Schick Quattro You are amazing razors for women. I like the fact that they give you a nice smooth shave. No matter what I use with them. Sometimes I use a shave cream. Sometimes I use soap and water. Sometimes I will use hair conditioner. I am able to shave the hair closest to the root. And I don't suffer from razor stubble. When you have sensitive skin like I do. These are awesome. I actually bought this pack and didn’t know they were disposable – that’s how high quality they look! These actually are scented on the handle, which I like a lot. I love the color and the texture of the handle. They work really well and provide a close shave. I actually would love to buy these again if they weren’t disposable. This a very interesting product. The number of blades for razors increase over time. There are two nice features on this razor. The two (2) hour moisturize feature is neat. Many time, I would have to use lotion after shaving to prevent dryness in the skin. The flip back trimmer is new. It allows me to trim the edge areas of my beard that I had trouble of with other razors. Razor refills are reasonably priced. The grip locations on the handle are very effective. My normal shaving routine is using a cup and brush and a safety razor. When I get to use a multiple blade razor it's quite the treat and makes shaving super easy and almost fun. I've become a big fan of these razors with the pressure sensitive head as I'm kind of heavy handed sometimes. With the hinged head, I can apply a certain amount of pressure and the razor is still very gentle with my face. I also notice I get a much closer shave when the blades are new than the safety razor. I really like to use a razor like this when I'm short on time and don't have the patience to take the time to use the safety razor. It's much easier for a similar or sometimes better shave. These Skintimate Sensitive 4 blade razors work great! I do have sensitive skin, so I tend to choose things with those labels. These worked wonderfully. They gave me a beautiful close shave. I initially purchased this product because I had a coupon for it. I have since been buying this product regularly. If I feel I need to stock up I purchase coupons and then purchase the product . ..they would just satisfy my value contention. You know…razors are very expensive these days, and when you find something that works, as this does, you want to be able to justify buying it. I found this razor to be the most comfortable shave I have experienced with a refillable. This is probably due to the various lube strips that completely surround the blades. At first I thought, that because of these, it would not last as long as other choices because the lube strips would wear away. I have been using this one for over a month (every day) and I can state that it still has life left to it. It is probably also around the top 15% of the closets shaves that i have gotten from a product of this type. When I first noticed this product on the shelves and took a good look at it, I noticed that it only had two blades. I thought that, because of this, it could not perform as well as the 5, 6, or 7 blade shavers..but it does and it even mostly out-performs them. This is where my value point comes and is what cost this product one star. The little voice inside me screams that it should cost less because of it has many less blades than the other leading choices out there. If you are someone who needs a solution to sensitive skin shaving, someone who does not have and issue with cost, or someone who just want to use a product that performs admirably, then this could be your shaver. I will still probably continue to use this shaver, but it sure would be nice if it were less expensive than the shavers that have more blades.saltoftheearth
I’ve never had the best luck when shaving. I’ve tried everything, 3 blades, 5 blades, disposables, electric razors, switching shaving creams, different techniques and still the same exact result… REDNESS AND BUMPS. Some worse than others but same thing every time. I saw the SkinGuard and thought I’d give it a try and see for myself if it would work for my super sensitive skin or if it was just a gimmick. My first shaving experience with the SkinGuard I was comfortable, and easy. I noticed no bumps or redness on my cheeks or neck area and was surprised. I gave it a few hours and still. NO REDNESS OR BUMPS. My second shave. Same thing. Third time around I had neglected the razor a few days and had some red bumps on my neck from letting it grow a little too long. I finally shaved and still no new bumps or redness. I’m starting to love this razor! I can finally have the wet shave experience without having to worry about unsightly bumps or irritation. It may not shave as close as some would like it to but my facial hair isn’t too thick so I don’t really have an issue with that. I would trade a baby’s bottom super close shave and my face littered with red bumps everywhere for a close enough shave and a comfortable smooth face any day of the week. For my beard, this Razor Blade works great! I have medium to thick beard so I change the blade out twice a week. This way I always have a sharp blade. The price is very moderate so I don't worry about waiting until the blade starts to pull at my beard. The quality control on this blade is very consistent. I have run across a few blades that I replaced early, but that happens with most any brand. I purchase the Derby Extra blades in the 100 count box so I get a bit more than a year's supply. I have used Derby blades in the past. I purchased them in Africa when I ran out of cartridge blades, normally used when I travel. I had a safety razor back up in my luggage. Derby’s are not very well made, and tend to have residual micro-burrs from not being finished well at the factory. Every time I used one, I nicked myself, even though I have used both straight and safety razors for decades and have mastered the techniques for both. I used up an entire styptic pencil. Although they widely available world-wide, I would not recommend them as a purchase. There are better blades out there, such as Doric, Personna, Feather, Gillette, etc. The price point is low for a reason.Anthony M.
I have used every blade that's out their. and still try any new one's that come out. and Derby is one of the best overall. blades I have used. and believe me I like it. it is my primary blade. may not work for everyone of us guys. you now different faces. and such. also found out. that some blades work better with some double edge shavers. better then others. so sometimes it' won't be the blade but the double edge shaver.I had over 14 double edge shavers and different shave brushes. [ boar. horse hair. silver tip. etc etc. ] it all comes down to matching up the right blade with the right double edge. shaver. and to me anyone who has been shaving for years. should know this. buy what works for you . and try different shavers and blades. till you find one that works for you. I have since narrowed my collection down to seven double edge shavers. and seven brushes. and three different types of blades. one is derby. other is astra. and the third is voskhod. they seem to work for me. all well and in all my double edge razors. the others I got rid of them because some shavers no matter what did not work well with any double edge blades. and a lot of blades did not work well with my razors. but this is for my face only. what may or may not work for me. maybe great for you. so don't judge one blade against another unless you try them in at least three different shavers. You will see differences I also change blades every three days regardless . and I do shave every day. which may or may not make a difference. so the most I hope for is this helps someone. to find the best way to shave for themselves. and I use shaving pucks. favorite brush i silvertip. runner up horse hair. and third boar. and shaving soap. cheap versus expensive. cheap wins out. just as good as the expensive. I just go for price and scent. I keep now several shave brushes and double edge shavers. and numerous cheap pucks of different fragrances of soap just because I like to change off every three days. it makes for fun shaving. Fantastic quality and longevity. I have been using the feather blades for some time. No longer!! I can honestly say that these out perform the other leading brands. My stubble is coarse and I would blunt a blade after 2-3 shaves, and would start feeling drag. I can get double from these. Fantastic blades.
One of my favourite blades, alongside Perosnna Lab Blues, and Gillette 7 o'clock SharpEdge and Super Stainless. Prefer these as they do not discolour/show corrosion when used. I've got a couple of multi-blade razors and have always thought that they were pretty good. however, I also thought that the prices of cartridges was high. So recently I bought an old-fashioned safety razor and some Wilkinson blades. After one shave the other razors were binned. It is that good. For anyone thinking about also doing this, there are two types of safety razors. The three-piece where to change the blade you have to unscrew the handle from the head then remove the top plate. The more convenient (and dearer) butterfly type has a rotating sleeve on the handle that will open the top of the razor to allow the blade to be changed very quickly and easily.dabhand16

I still feel like other razor brands give me a better overall shave so would pick those first all things equal. I'm not sold on the shock absorb technology as it just moves towards and away from your face and it would be better with all axes of motion.njf16
This razor looks good and feels solid. The blade disconnect seems a bit flimsy and the "cushioning gel pools" on one of the blade heads is practically nonexistent with only 1 "pool" filled with the white gel. The other head included had all the "pools" filled. The razor did cut nicely and didn't seem to cause much irritation.
