It actually cut them great, This slicer blade opens up to be one half inch cut. The reason i gave it a four star review is because of the handle that holds your items in place. you should take your time slicing items . If you go to fast this thin plastic arm wont hold well. I've been using this for two years, linked to this on a forum and was saddened by the one star review that this had… This thing has cut everything we've sent through it-Cucumbers, potatoes, tomatoes, fingers… You name it, it's cut it. About the lack of instructions and confusion: 1. You pick out which "plate" tickles your fancy-Thick, thin, thick julien, and thick julien- from the supplied holder. 2. You remove the safety insert (which I recommend using) from the slicer and insert the one you plan to use. 3. slice away. The unit hangs over a bowl very easily so you don't end up having to just slice them onto the counter and then scoop them into a bowl afterwards. 4. ?????? 5. Profit. Seriously… It's not rocket surgery. I don't use the safety holder because it's kinda awkward… *see related* I'm sure there are better ones out there, but this one will get the job done.1rregardless
A product that does not work very well, it had to make it work on anything other than potatoes. If you want to slice potatoes, it works fair, it will not works on carrots. I had an older model of another brand that looked almost identical to this one — except this one is better in two key areas. The slice thickness adjustment is an easy to see and easy to adjust dial on one side, instead of a lever on the back of the machine. Even better is a simplified design that makes it much easier to clean. The blade pops out with a quarter turn of the flip out attachment cog and the sliding tray is removable. There also are fewer little nooks and crannies behind the blade for the food to get trapped in so cleanup is fast and easy.. Nice solid construction, mostly metal with some plastic. Even as I was unpacking this slicer, I noticed that all the moving parts seemed a little loose. When I started slicing my small ham, suddenly the blade came loose and before it went awry, I quickly turned it off. I put in back into place and continued slicing, thinking that maybe it wasn't attached tightly or correctly. Well, it happened again, so I turned it off and said, "it's not losing finger over." I contacted Kalorik customer service (what a joke) and even though they said they would reply in 24 – 48 hours, it took four days. I was told I had to submit all necessary warranty information, along with a VIDEO ! Are you kidding me? I explained that was impossible to slice and video at the same time (I live alone). They then went on to inform me that I would have to ship it to them, and that I would have to pay for shipping charges. I could NOT return it to the store I bought it at (Bed, Bath and Beyond). Then they also told me that if they didn't find anything wrong with it, I would have to pay return shipping to myself. This was getting ridiculous. When you read their warranty, it's so vague that you wouldn't catch the detail about paying for shipping charges back to Kalorik. Unbelievable. In all my 50+ years of buying products, and only returning a few, I've never heard of such stupid "rules" for a warranty. I will never buy another Kalorik product as long as I live! Worst customer service ever! Thankfully, after talking to the manager at my local Bed, Bath and Beyond store, I was allowed to return it there and receive a credit.

I bought this product to used to make jerky. It arrived earlier than expected today. However, when I opened the box it was shipped in, it was poorly secured. The actual box that had the machine inside was badly damaged and taped up all over to hold it shut. The machine was scratched up and has something rattling around inside. Another piece is broken on it. As well as the adjustment settings don't want to move properly and the whole piece moves, which will not allow for a evenly sliced piece of meat. I haven't even had a chance to use it yet, and afraid to with all the damage. I am highly unsatisfied with this purchase. I expected a better conditioned machine, not something that looks second hand. I will not recommend this product… I will be saving to purchase a higher end slicer instead.Casey
My meat slicer that I bought on QVC about 10 years ago, finally wore out so I thought this would be a good replacement. Sadly, it wasn't. I thought it cheaply made ( almost all plastic) and I was not pleased with the quality of the cut. If you have an old toothbrush…save it…you will need it to clean up the machine after use. It is very difficult to get into all the small areas this machine seems to have to properly clean it. I have a Cuisinart 7.5" meat slicer that I bought from Best Buy last year. Not too happy with it because you have to stop every 10' to let the machine rest between 10-15'. In search for a better one, I found this Weston 9" meat slicer, also from BB. Unlike Cuisinart, this one has more power and you don't have to stop every 10'. I could slice a 4lbs eye round beef for Shabu shabu in 15'. Non-stop. Just remember, the more frozen of the meat, the better for thin slices. In terms of cleaning, the Cuisinart is better in disassembled for cleaning, you can remove any movable parts to clean while this one is not. Also, Cuisinart looks and feels more durable than this. I bought this product to used to make jerky. It arrived earlier than expected today. However, when I opened the box it was shipped in, it was poorly secured. The actual box that had the machine inside was badly damaged and taped up all over to hold it shut. The machine was scratched up and has something rattling around inside. Another piece is broken on it. As well as the adjustment settings don't want to move properly and the whole piece moves, which will not allow for a evenly sliced piece of meat. I haven't even had a chance to use it yet, and afraid to with all the damage. I am highly unsatisfied with this purchase. I expected a better conditioned machine, not something that looks second hand. I will not recommend this product… I will be saving to purchase a higher end slicer instead.Casey
My meat slicer that I bought on QVC about 10 years ago, finally wore out so I thought this would be a good replacement. Sadly, it wasn't. I thought it cheaply made ( almost all plastic) and I was not pleased with the quality of the cut. If you have an old toothbrush…save it…you will need it to clean up the machine after use. It is very difficult to get into all the small areas this machine seems to have to properly clean it. The area where the sliced product falls is small…no room to slide a plate up close to catch whatever it is you could be slicing. Overall, it's more trouble than it's worth.wilsoncreekmom

This slicer is great. It makes slicing meats easy into thin or thick cuts. Can also cut cheese fruits and breads as well. It has an easy off and on switch. A cover for the blade as well. While its easy to remove the blade for clean. It's a little challenging to clean machine as a whole.dwil28

We bought this only because the MAXX Air Fryer oven had failed so often that Kalorik suggested a store credit. So we had a sizeable sum to spend on your products. Hopefully the slicer is better than the Fryer. We will never willingly purchase nor recommend a Kalorik product. And you had the nerve to charge shipping.Peter S.
Even as I was unpacking this slicer, I noticed that all the moving parts seemed a little loose. When I started slicing my small ham, suddenly the blade came loose and before it went awry, I quickly turned it off. I put in back into place and continued slicing, thinking that maybe it wasn't attached tightly or correctly. Well, it happened again, so I turned it off and said, "it's not losing finger over." I contacted Kalorik customer service (what a joke) and even though they said they would reply in 24 – 48 hours, it took four days. I was told I had to submit all necessary warranty information, along with a VIDEO ! Are you kidding me? I explained that was impossible to slice and video at the same time (I live alone). They then went on to inform me that I would have to ship it to them, and that I would have to pay for shipping charges. I could NOT return it to the store I bought it at (Bed, Bath and Beyond). Then they also told me that if they didn't find anything wrong with it, I would have to pay return shipping to myself. This was getting ridiculous. When you read their warranty, it's so vague that you wouldn't catch the detail about paying for shipping charges back to Kalorik. Unbelievable. In all my 50+ years of buying products, and only returning a few, I've never heard of such stupid "rules" for a warranty. I will never buy another Kalorik product as long as I live! Worst customer service ever! Thankfully, after talking to the manager at my local Bed, Bath and Beyond store, I was allowed to return it there and receive a credit.Laura
Great price but fails miserably. Wheel grabs and throws meat forward. Slide bar isn't smooth and there is a gap between tray and wheel that causes meat to fall down on the last piece. Bought it on sale on line through Best Buy. Very disappointed with Kalorik meat slicers. Will not cut thin as advertised. My expectations were indeed lowered with this productJunk

Had to send back due to gears stripping. Also doesn't slice cold cheese. Warm works better. When you slice meat it wants to roll with the blade. It needs some kind of cover over the spinning knife. This would work a lot better. But on a positive note it's easy to take apart and cleanBill
The slicer works as advertised. I have only used it to slice chopped ham so far but it did a good job. I would recommend this slicer for anyone in the market. Also, I did find this same exact slicer on Amazon at a cheaper price and LEM matched them no questions asked. They could not do the free shipping though but to me it was well worth the few dollars for shipping to have the piece of mind that comes with buying directly from LEM and not some anonymous seller that you may never be able to contact again. I have purchased products from LEM in the past and all of them have been of exceptional quality so I have never had to send anything back for service or replacement but I have spoken with customer service a few times asking for operating instruction etc and they are very pleasant and helpful and I feel certain that if I ever had an issue with any product that LEM would take care of it without hesitation. I'll give it 5 stars since it does exactly what we want it to do, slice meat. We butcher and cure all of our meats and the slicer was the final addition to the toolbox. We've used it so far for thick sliced bacon and thin sliced pastrami. I did find that the meat will ride up on the back side of the blade so using a paper towel I put a thin coating of vegetable oil on the blade which really helped. Ease of cleaning I gave a perfect score, it easily disassembles for cleaning. I'm sure some will complain about the effort it takes to clean, in my mind there is no way to make it any easier to clean the complexity of surfaces of a slicer so no point in saying it's difficult to clean. All in all we are super happy with all of our LEM products. Keep up the great work!Glenn
