20 Best Detangler Brush For Thin Hair (Jan 2023 Update)

I have wavy/ curly hair and I saw a lot of people suggest a brush like this. I am happy with the results, I put my product in and then brushed through when my hair was wet and it did seem to help with definition. I’ve seen where people separate and trust each curl clump, but I simply brushed as normal. The only thing is that you have to start at the bottom of your hair or your tangles will be worse. Other than that, I like that you can clean very easy and use with wet hair.Elle

This is the best brush I've ever used it was only $5! I bought it on a whim wasn't hoping for too much because it was so cheap. I got it home and brushed my hair can't believe how the knots came out. I can use it with dry or wet hair, it keeps my hair (thick frizzy) soft smooth, knot free for days. I literally run my hands through my hair all day just because I can't believe the knots are gone. I am IN LOVE with this brush! When I purchased this brush I was mostly buying it for my 5 year old. She has very very thick curly hair that goes all the way down to her tailbone. Because of that her hair knots so easily and shes really tenderheaded so i usually wait to brush her hair while im washing it. Ive tried SO MANY brushes meant to detangle and meant to be used on wet hair and all that. It would take FOREVER to get her hair brushed, about an hour at the least. But then i found this brush, and it has helped so much! It only takes 20-30 mins to brush her hair at the most. It's so easy to brush it. My daughter loves this brush too because "it doesnt hurt when you brush it anymore mama" lol. What I thought was really cool about this brush was that I can slide up the brush part and take out the brissles and clean it easily! The only hard part is remembering where the brissles go once youre done cleaning it. The only thing I could see being a problem is the fact that the brush part slides up, it may end up sliding up while youre brushing. I havent really had this issue other than the it sliding up a tiny bit but I honestly dont even notice it until I'm done brushing. It also has a silicone grip at the end of the handle. Which really helps when brushing your hair in the shower so it doesnt slip out of your hands. I also want to add that its very affordable! I would highly recommend this brush. I have very long, thick, wavy, fine hair this brush manages to detangle my knotty hair whether it is wet or dry. In my entire life of having long knotty hair I have never found a brush this great. I loved this brush. this is the first detangling brush that is easy on my scalp. I always had problems growing my hair because it's curly and until now. I believe this brush really helped stimulate my hair and made it grow really long. the only reason this brush gets a 4 star because i think there can be some improvements. I used this brush every time I get out of the shower and after 8 months of using it, it broke near the handle. I might've been applying too much pressure at times? but I still think it shouldn't break. Also, the logo faded after month 2 or using it. Probably one of the best hair brushes I've ever owned. The ordinary vented plastic brush I purchased from my local drugstore kept pulling my hair out every time I brushed. This brush is so unique, it doesn't tug on my hair. The massaging feel is so luxurious on the scalp. I had 2 men in the family try it and they were like whoa!! Definitely 10/10 recommended. This brush works for me like no brush has ever worked before. I was horrified at the idea of using a brush on insanely wet hair, or even whilst in the shower – but so many women loved it, I thought I’d get it for myself. (Just in case you’re wondering, cheaper substitutes for the original brand that I’ve tested are ok, but not at all comparable to the original tangle teezer). After using it in the shower just once, I was in love. I could run it through my hair easily before, after, or even while I was in the process of washing and conditioning my hair. With only a handful of uses to date, I find this item to be handy and seamless to utilize and hope to use and purchase more for my children. I have curly/mild coarse hair and primarily use this item when wearing my hair at a longer brush length and want curls on top or when I’m sporting “waves†. I have a couple of these. One I use for my hair, it is naturally curly and colour treated. I find this gentle, but effective at removing knots and generally smoothing out my hair, without breakage. They now do one with a handle which I think would suit me better, although this one is quite comfortable to hold, I think a handle will make it more efficient, as my hair is quite long. The other one I have, I use on my cats bedding (I’ve labelled it to avoid mixing them up lol) she’s a hairy cat 🐱 and this works a dream on faux fur furniture and blankets – the vacuum cleaner is useless as her fur is so fine. #tangleteezerjj.a

I am not exaggerating when I say this brush is the best brush I have ever used for my daughter's hair. She's 4 and has her hair down to the middle of her back. The texture of her hair is like mine, fine, but she has a lot of it. She always wakes up with a proverbial rat's nest (as my mother referred to masses of tangles) smack dab in the middle of the back of her head. I used to dread brushing her hair in the mornings before school. Now, with this Frida Baby Detangling brush, i have no worries. With a brush that had the same detangling claims as this one, I would use detangling spray but it would take at least 5 minutes to work my way through her hair, oftentimes longer. I still use the detangling spray but only where it's needed now, and start in with the Frida Baby brush and it takes 2 minutes tops to get her hair smoothed out. I honestly don't know what the secret is with this magical brush. The bristles are spaced out a bit and are thin and flexible. It comes with a handy cover to keep the bristles' shape. The only improvement I could see with this magic wand is maybe a bit of grippy coating on the handle which is still quite comfortable to hold as is. Not that I expect it to any time soon but I will definitely be buying another one of these when this one shows signs of wearing out. I have a daughter who has very fine hair. She loves keeping it extremely long but unfortunately that can be a recipe for disaster as far as tangles go. We have tried so many brushes on her hair but didn’t find one we loved until this one. It is the best brush we have ever tried. It might feel like it’s not doing anything, but it does A LOT, perfectly detangles my hair without ripping half of it out and painlessly unlike the wide-toothed comb I am used to. After brushing out all my hair there is only a few amount of hair on the brush. My wide tooth comb would take out much more. Using this brush made me realise that combing your hair does not have to be painful. The brush is quite sturdy and not a cheap plastic feel. I have bleached, fragile, fine 2c curly hair and have avoided hair brushes for years because they made my curls look terrible. I recently decided to undertake a new curl method that includes brushing my hair, so I ordered this brush. it's so gentle! I have a sensitive scalp and usually have to gingerly brush my hair. I did not have to do this with this brush. I normally brush when my hair is soaking wet, per new method, but I brushed my hair while dry to prepare for bleaching it and it made my hair feel silky smooth, which has never happened before with a brush. I was in such awe and couldn't stop touching my hair. It's never felt like that before. Usually when I brush my hair dry I look like I've been electrocuted. I have fine, thick, wavy/curly hair to the middle of my back. It can be an absolute nightmare to detangle, and I really wanted to love this product. I guess it did an okay job at detangling? But I had abnormal amounts of shedding during the few weeks that I used this brush and I'm pretty sure it caused some breakage (more than what is normal for my hair) too. It was also more difficult to hold onto this brush than I anticipated since it doesn't have a handle. After a third or fourth time dropping it onto the floor, I decided it wasn't worth the hassle and bought a Wet brush instead, which has worked a lot better for me. I feel super silly leaving a review for hair brush. But this one is so amazing I just had to! I used to buy the As Seen on TV hair brushes that work really well at detangling but after a while I started to feel like it wasn't doing my thick wavy/curly hair any good. I got this brush after I've been sick and couldn't brush my hair for two weeks, I know that's sad but I would get super duper sick where I can't do anything. I was afraid it was going to take me forever to brush out my hair and that I was going to need detangler however I was pleasantly surprised to find that this brush glided right through my thick hair Tangles and all with no problem! I thought it was going to take me an hour to brush my hair because it was so tangled I thought I was going to have to cut it because it was so tangled but nope this brush handled it like a boss! Having a good hair brush is absolutely essential if you have long hair. I bought several hair brushes this year after somehow losing my favorite one. I tried a few different kinds and they all were terrible, the bristles we're too stiff and literally hurt my head to use, or they were spaced too far apart from each other and wouldn't get through any tangles. Finally I came across this Revlon hairbrush. The soft grip is amazing, gives me more control. The bristles are perfect, as Goldilocks said, not too hard, not to soft, it was juuuuuust right. Love this brush so much I bought it twice! I really needed a new brush for me and my girls, especially something that wouldn't be too harsh on their tangles. When I saw this for the first time I hesitated to get it because it's a little expensive. I kept thinking about it so I went ahead and grabbed it next time I saw it. Omg am I glad I did! I have Long Straight/wavy hair that is susceptible to being brushed out. I enjoy blow drying my hair into style but after one or two nights, I needed something to gently brush my hair. This is perfect! I have used it on wet and dry hair. But would never use it to blow dry as it warned on the package it is not designed for high heat. I own the mini travel pink wet brush for my toddler's super curly hair. It keeps her curls bouncy. This bigger "Mama" size is perfect for my hair. I love both these products and would highly recommend them. You will need to purchase these separately. There were other colors to choose from, a light purple and lovely mint. This brush is way too rough on my head… I don't think I'm particularly sensitive on my scalp but this way too much. Also the breakage from this brush was crazy to see. I could look down at my counter top and see all the prices it broke off. Not that cosmetics matter cause it's a hair brush, but the wood also started to break and crack. I am using this brush in my daughter's hair which is long and wavy. It is amazing to painlessly get out the knots. This is the only place online I could get it in pink. I have tried the Popular mix in her hair but I could not detangle with that. I also tried the wide comb but it was time consuming and painful. Having about 6 Mason & Pearson brushes (they last forever) as well as several combs, this was exactly what I wanted. The nylon bristles are a bit softer than other M/P brushes, as was expected; if you have hair that tangles, this brush is for you. The hair on the top and back of my head gets very tangled, especially when the hair has just been washed; it’s a breeze to wash the hair now & run the brush through it. I got the travel size brush, but unfortunately it has a whole in the middle, so when you use the brush under the shower, the water gets stuck inside, and you can't get it out. Just got this delivered and was thinking it was a gimmick, I'll probably send it back. But I read the directions and gave it a try. Was I shocked. I have very fine hair, that is thinning as well ( even with supplements, I fight genes and low calorie diet, winter shedding, thyroid problems and senior texture, etc ) so I carefully applied the brush. It felt good, as I massaged my scalp. It didn't tangle my long hair. In fact, even with winter dry air – there was no static. After 5 minutes of a circular motion, my hair looked like it was blown dry! It had a shine and " fluffy " appearance. I was using a wet/dry brush in the past- also touted as a gentle tool, but always had to clean the brush of all the fuzz and broken hairs. I look forward to using this new product daily, as I was careful not to brush my hair too often ( because of the breakage). I have mid length fine hair, but a lot of it. I used this in the shower with my shampoo and then conditioner. I had difficulty getting this through my hair. The bristles are too short for me and had trouble trying to move this through my hair from top to bottom. It did remove some hair which would always happen when I wash my hair. I have used this on my dry hair, and it is difficult to use. I feel that short haired people would enjoy this. I will keep to use on my cats. I can put one on each hand and brush each cat – almost like they are getting a massage as well. I can't return because I threw out the boxes. I initially purchased this brush for me because I do have issues with thinning hair. After using, I discovered how gentle and the massaging feel, I used on my 21 yr old cat & my 2 legged kitty. Both are very sensitive to stroking motions on their back and sides, but this brush was absolutely amazing for them. The long hair also easily detangles so no pulling. Also, because its washable, those less than clean areas are easily de-matted and the brush is easy to clean. One other comment, the kitties seem to like the idea of bristles in my hand as compared to the regular handle brush prior used. Thank you for inventing and you may want to broaden your marketing to include pet brushes. Compared to other glove brushes, this is so much more user friendly and gentle on their skin and fur.kittyj65

I’m actually surprised at how well this brushes my hair. I have long (down to my lower back) hair that is thick and wavy. I usually have it tied up because it knots easily and I can’t breathe when it is down. So, the fact that this brush can smooth out my hair and get rid of the knots is really surprising. In my experience, it works better than my wet brush did because it doesn’t pull at my hair. I’ve had less breakage and smoother brushing. The only reason I gave it a four is that although it is beautiful, it does feel a bit cheap due to the plastic body of the brush. This makes it light and easy to work with but I wish it was a bit more durable.ICrystal

Prior to purchasing this, I was using a wide tooth comb in my hair while in the shower but recently it’s been more tangled than usual so I was looking for something different. I read the reviews on this and decided to give it a shot and was VERY DISAPPOINTED. Upon taking it out of the packaging, the first thing I noticed was that it was very lightweight and made out of a very cheap dollar store-like plastic (if you feel it, you will know what I mean). The handle is made out of the same plastic and is hollow. I had to go back and look at the packaging because I thought maybe this was meant to be for kids or a toy for doll hair. For the price, quality is severely lacking. Next, I will mention that I have thicker hair (nothing too thick, but since it’s wavy it’s on the thicker side) and although the packaging says for all hair types, I would disagree. The bristles are EXTREMELY fine and I noticed that my hair wasn’t even going through the brush – the bristles would bend on contact with my hair and the hair would glide along the surface but the bristles wouldn’t actually run through my hair since they were so thin. I had to part my hair in very small sections and monitor each time to see if the brush was even going through my hair. Since I have more volume up top, the brush wouldn’t run through there either so I had to comb through the hair near my scalp with my tangle teezer. The bristles should have been thicker and sturdier, especially since they are meant to work on wet/damp hair which is heavier than dry hair. Shocked to see all these 5 star reviews and not one person agrees with my sentiments. I’d say this brush is good for kids or people with fine hair but you have curly/wavy hair or thick hair, do your research and find a brush that’s actually worth your moneyzeee

Wanted to love this brush and it worked great for a little while but eventually the bristles (like 1/4) started going into the cushioned portion of the brush so the bristles don’t run through my hair at all. Some of the bristles have also started to come out completely when removing hair from the brush. I bought multiple so it’s a real bummer!HCarm

I bought this brush in the process of moving since I didn't have all my items to do my hair. Well, let me tell you if you have 3c hair and in THIS IS NOT FOR US!! The Bristles are too flimsy to really detangle super curly to coily hair. The brush itself is very soft and has a nice design for people who have straight to wavy hair. Maybe I was expecting a little too much, but I thought I should forewarn my natural haired ladies.jazz

I am never one to write reviews BUT more people need to know how good this brush is!! I needed a new brush because my old brush I used to use isn't sold anymore anywhere. I saw this brush and decided to give it a try, and let me tell you I was NOT disappointed. It had some pretty high expectations to live up to because I was obsessed with my old brush, because it was the only brush I found that would not hurt my head when I brushed my hair. I used this new brush for the first time on dry hair and I was absolutely shocked. The brush wasn't hurting my head AT ALL and it was getting all the knots out. I tried it the next day on wet hair and AGAIN I was SHOOK. I've noticed a difference in my hair as well. It is much softer and less frizzy. If you are in need of a new brush and you want one that doesn't hurt your head (and comes in super cute colors) THIS IS WHAT YOU NEED! LIFE-CHANGING I AM TELLING YOUBK

I'm very picky about brushes because my scalp is very sensitive to pain. The brush is flexible enough to not rip at my hair. I generally don't let my hair get too terribly tangled so I'm not sure how it would perform against very tangled hair, but for every day use I love this brush so much I got a second one. The brush also has a soft matte feel to the handle which is very pleasant.JD

Thought I wouldn't like using a brush without a handle but the egg shaped brush is made wide for my small hands, so using Knot Genie feels tolerable and not so bad. I may believe the Knot Genie forces you to take it easy on your hair and not go so rough. You don't need to brush so hard to detangle your hair. I have a biracial daughter, African American and Caucasian, who has soft hair yet it is unbelievably curly. Her hair didn't tangle but instead would get matted in certain areas. No matter how much conditioner I used (along with a wide tooth comb) she would scream and cry and tell me how awful it hurt, making me feel like the most awful mom in the world. I have tried a bunch of other products and recently found Knot Genie. My daughter (age 4) now brushes her own hair every day and those knots (matts) are gone.
