Reviewing Lucas Diesel Deep Clean fuel and exhaust system cleaner. I have used this product in the past and I am familiar with it. I use it about every six months to keep my 2002 Ford F250 7.3L diesel clean and running strong. I believe it cleans a lot of the particulates away and keeps my diesel running as it should. Mine is pre-DEF so I’m not sure how it works in those engines. My truck has never blown smoke and I pull several trailers with it up to 14,000 pounds. The diesel engine has plenty of torque and my acceleration is quick from the start. I changed the particulate filter at 100,000 miles as required under warranty, but at 200,000 miles it just needed a cleaning. I believe the Lucas Diesel Deep Clean fuel and exhaust system cleaner had a factor in that finding. As far as power boost by using this product, I cannot determine that. I have always had plenty of power with this vehicle and engine. It is easy to use; just unscrew the top, remove the foil seal and pour it into a near empty tank. I went to the Lucas Oil website and read the description of the product and what it was suppose to do. I have used other Lucas products before and I have always been happy with the results. So, I decided to give this a try. The website indicates that it is to help clean soot and particulates out of the engine. It also states that it helps to reduce deposits in the Diesel Particulate Filter. I have a 2006 Jetta TDI and it is old enough that it does not have a particulate filter. But, it does occasionally blow out black smoke under heavy acceleration. I put this into the tank at fill-up. I noticed that the engine ran smoother, but did not think about it any more. Until, one day, I had to accelerate hard getting away from a stop light. And, to my amazement, there was no cloud of black smoke coming out of my exhaust. The VW TDI diesel is an awesome engine. I normally get 40 mpg with regular diesel fuel. After using this product, I now get 46 mpg. The website recommends that it be used in the fuel each time that you change the oil. But I use it at each fill up, and I continue to get excellent fuel mileage and smoke free exhaust.Randall

I purchased a 2000 Isuzu NPR with the 4.8L 4HE1 diesel. It smoked heavily upon start up, would not idle on all four cylinders when cold (hence the heavy plumes of unburned diesel) but would finally finally become smoke free once hot. I took a chance and bought the truck assuming that at worst I'd need to buy new injectors. I tried Diesel Extreme at it's recommended dosage and would start the truck every day and let it idle for 30 minutes for a week. Each day it started easier and smoked less and this was in January. After that tank of treated fuel there was a night and day difference but still one cylinder was stubborn to fire but now only for a few minutes. I added DE one more time months and tanks later and that time that last cylinder finally started firing right away. Perhaps any diesel fuel treatment would have done the same, I don't know but I do know that Diesel Extreme worked for me.Stento

Took our 2016 Mercedes Sprinter 2500 OM 651 diesel from average 28/29 on the highway to 30/31 on a trip from WA state to AZ after a recent purchase of the Diesel Extreme. Keeping the Cetane up and the injectors squirting…my 7.3 liter appreciates the attention. I've used this seasonally / periodically for over 8 yrs. Have also used the Stanadyne equivalent. They all do what they say they'll do. DK is a little easier on the wallet which makes it easier to overdose the fuel tank without it hurting my bank account too bad. Diesel fuel contents vary from producer and distributor, DK always brings my visible soot levels down and adds a little more oooomph in the low RPMs. It also makes a noticeable difference in the diesel "smell" coming out of the exhaust pipe. I attribute it to a more complete fuel burn, so less odor and particulates.Ryan
I had done an e-fuel swap on my 95 7.3L and stirred up some crap which got my injectors dirty as the motor was feeling very sluggish and had an injector knock. After some forum browsing I chose to go with this stuff and put about half a bottle in with a full tank as suggested and it made a difference! Used the product for my ML350 BT. Had a bad batch of diesel that made the engine shake more than usual. The CEL also lit up saying injector at max limit. At one point, white smoke was spewing out in cold starts. Poured the product according to instructions and filled up with premium diesel. A few kilometres later, the engine shake is gone and no more white smoke. CEL went out and did not come back. Very happy!Canadian Tired

I was having problems with reduced mpg and rough idling and suspected my injectors were going bad. It was recommended to try Hot Shot first to clean and lubricate the fuel system. I recognized immediate results with the first tank of diesel and 1.0 oz of additive. Within one treatment the engine is running smoother and mpg has rebounded. Beware that you could experience lowering mpg as the deposits are "burned" off the injectors, but this should be temporary and then be able to notice the improvement. Going forward I will use this with every fill up to keep the system running smooth! And for the small cost to gain improved mpg, it really is worth it!Kevin
My price per gallon is more than most. I use stanadyne performance in addition to the monthly or so lucas fuel treatment. Put one ounce of EDT in the tank and let the powerstroke idle during fuel up. 40 gallon tank. Went inside to get my receipt, took off down the 65 mph road, and my engine "smoothed out". I dont know if this stuff magically added some kind of voodoo juice to lube the injectors, CP4 pump, magically made for a "smoother" combustion, or what… but the stuff works. Single digit temps on first application, but whatever kind of snake oil they use works for me. My 6.7 sounds like a 6.7, but after my first application using this product I can say that the noise under the hood went from 80 grit to 220 in a matter of minutes. They don't pay me to say this stuff, but I'll pay them to use their EDT additive.Neighbs

Although I added Hot Shot's Secret Friction Reducer for about 450 miles, I seem to notice my 2013 Nissan Frontier's 2.5L inline 4-cylinder engine is running somewhat smoother. It also seems to idle somewhat smoother and require fewer downshifts when climbing hills out on the highway. It also seems to have an increase of 1 mile an hour of speed at the same rpm as it previously registered running down the road. It will be time for an oil change in about 600 miles so I will add 7.5 ounces to my oil after the oil and filter change and run the Hot Shot's Secret Friction Reducer for three thousand miles till the next oil change. I normally average about 3,500 miles a year on my truck so it will take longer for the Hot Shot's Secret Friction Reducer to take effect than it would if I drove 3,500 miles a month before I retired. I purchased a 2000 Isuzu NPR with the 4.8L 4HE1 diesel. It smoked heavily upon start up, would not idle on all four cylinders when cold (hence the heavy plumes of unburned diesel) but would finally finally become smoke free once hot. I took a chance and bought the truck assuming that at worst I'd need to buy new injectors. I tried Diesel Extreme at it's recommended dosage and would start the truck every day and let it idle for 30 minutes for a week. Each day it started easier and smoked less and this was in January. After that tank of treated fuel there was a night and day difference but still one cylinder was stubborn to fire but now only for a few minutes. I added DE one more time months and tanks later and that time that last cylinder finally started firing right away. Perhaps any diesel fuel treatment would have done the same, I don't know but I do know that Diesel Extreme worked for me.Stento

Cleans very well. Read some of the complaints and don’t know their particular vehicle but you cannot run certain types of injector or any in some turbo charged vehicles it can screw it up and cause a high dollar repair. You need to know before running any kind of additive to your fuel cant blame their product on someone’s ignorance or it’s possible you’ve broke away sediment or varnish that’s clogged the injectors because of bad fuel filter or never used anything to maintain tank cause with ethanol thats in most gas can cause water build up in gas tank which is heavier settling on the bottom of your metal gas tank. Many people never maintain their vehicle correctly and then use an Additive to try to correct never done maintenance and what happens everything turns loose and now you have a Mess. I own a 2019 Indian Chief Darkhorse motorcycle with 23,000 miles. I have been predominantly buying high test fuel at work. After several weeks, I had very difficult cold starting and a severe loss of power. I tried another fuel injector cleaner. While it did a good job , I was still having some difficulties starting the bike. I tried this cleaner because it cleaned the entire fuel system-tank, pump, cylinder and fuel injectors. The ethanol in the gas was the cause of all my problems. I have now switched to ethanol free gas to prevent future problems. I never bought this stuff, assuming it wasn’t effective. After reading some compelling data online I decided to give it a try. After 500 miles of use I’ve picked up one more mpg, which is enough to pay for itself if you’re buying in bulk. I used to hear my lifters at cold start, but since using this product my lifters are silent so it must be working as advertised to lubricants the top end. But the gallon size to make it cost effective, but you will need this bottle to measure out a tanks worth and to pour it easily into the tank at fill up.D Smith
I had very high hopes for this with all the positive comments and reviews. This wasn't the case for me. The claims are that this adds lubricity and cleans the intake system.
