(For context, I have fine straight Asian hair that I wash every ~3 or 4 days. In dry shampoos, I look for dark hair-specific dry shampoos that add volume to my roots on the days I don't wash it.) I had really good experiences with Verb's Dry Conditioner Oil and Weightless Hair Oil, and when my holy grail dry shampoo (Batiste Divine Dark Dry Shampoo) was running out, I decided to go out on a whim to try this out, thinking I would have equally great experiences. I was wrong! I used this dry shampoo on second day hair, and while it left my hair feeling clean, it did nothing to add volume. It left my scalp in a weird in-between where it looked clean and not oily, but thin and limp. I don't usually spray dry shampoo on consecutive days (usually one douse of dry shampoo is good to last me for a few days), but I found myself grabbing for my old Batiste spray. Maybe I’m just used to the drug store dry shampoos, but I truly cannot feel this in my hair, in the best way. I have dirty blonde hair but this truly doesn’t leave a white cast on my hair despite it being kinda dark at the root. It gives just enough of a refresh (be proactive with it, it won’t save greasey greasey hair). I use it with the dry oil from verb on my ends to help smooth them out and it works amazing to help me go longer between washes. Also of note the nozzle on this is awesome, sprays out just enough, never too crazy, and has a nice dispersion. The scent is not my personal favourite (ouai still wins in that department), it’s a light powdery scent, it’s not overpowering or off putting at all and I can’t really smell it after about 30 mins. I brush my hair well to distribute the oil a little bit then I spray it in at the roots, and let it sit while I do something else for a little bit then brush it through and it feels light and clean, doesn’t get the weird waxy feeling that batiste tends to give. I’ve tried many other brands of dry shampoo and this one takes 1st place. It is light enough to not build up on my hair and still work wonders for all non-wash days. Zero visible residue or “powdery” effect when you use it. I needed a new curling iron. I didnt want something that was just the basic curing iron I can pick up at a box store. I did some research on curling irons. I wanted something that would keep hair curled all day, the basic does not do this. I read the ceramic barrels were going to be the best for my thinner hair. I've been using this dry shampoo for years. It's always worked great for me. However, the last several canisters I've purchased (I buy multiple of the items I use regularly) have stopped spraying with 1/3 to 1/2 of the product left. First canister I thought maybe a fluke, but the last 4 have been like that. Like I said, I buy multiples of my everyday products, especially when on sale. I can't return because past 30 day window. First of all if you need shampoo you need this product. It is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G -My hair: thin, straight as an arrow, dry. I live in the AZ desert most the time, the water is terrible, the UV rays bad, the humidity is basically 0% – I have color treated long straight hair. If I didn't find this product I am unsure I would have as thick of hair, definitely not as long of hair. I apply it the day after i was my hair and for the next 2-3 days (i wash my hair like twice a week) i dont have to re-touch it at all. When I had this dry shampoo I took it for granted. I assumed all dry shampoos were this good of quality. However after switching to the IGK, I realized that other dry shampoos such as the IGK leave white flake-like residue that looks like dandruff! That’s a nightmare, especially if you have dark hair! Great quality dry shampoo in powder form. To be honest, it is my first experience with dry shampoos so I can not really compare with anything else. Love Acure products for its natural composition and quality. This shampoo really helps, when you wake up late in the morning or just don’t have time to properly wash the hair, but I don’t think it will save you when you have crazy greasy hair day. The powder almost doesn’t have any scent, just a slight peppermint pleasant odor. It’s very easy to use and spread around the head with light massaging moves. This shampoo doesn’t irritate scalp at all! I assume it’s a great choice for sensitive skin. The package might seem small but I guess it will last long if you don’t use it daily. I do NOT shampoo my hair daily. I got two little kids and little time to pamper myself. I've tried a lot of spray dry shampoo and I feel as tho it leaves my hair dull and still "greasy". Those of us born in the 90s know that this sucker looks like baby powder and we all know that stuff works so I gave this stuff a shot! I love it! Not only goes it give it the "I just washed my hair " look but it gives it volume. I put it in my hands and dive it. A little goes a long way. Of all that I be tried, I like this dry shampoo best. I’ve learned that for me it works well to apply at night, before sleeping. I don’t even brush it in, I just sprinkle it around the areas where I know my hair will look its oiliest. When I wake up, it’s worked its way in and is no longer obviously visible. I can only go one day between washing because my scalp gets so oily, but this helps that no-wash day look a little better. The container is small but you don’t need much. If you’re thinking about trying something to give you a little pick me up before washing your hair, you should try this. Some will like it, some won’t. I love this dry shampoo! I love the brand and have enjoyed every different kind I've tried but this one smells so yummy!! I have color-treated, bleached, damaged hair so I only wash it once a week (yes, it's actually normal) so I use dry shampoo regularly. I have tried so many different brands and kinds and I keep coming back to Batiste. I usually get this one or the tropical one and they both smell incredible. They spray evenly and the "white" residue soaks in almost immediately. Honestly I see a lot of people who don't like it if a dry shampoo sprays a little color onto your hair but I prefer it, I like seeing it working. This is a tricky one. Overall, this works quite well as a dry shampoo. My hair looks cleaner and has more volume after using for sure. However, I have extremely dark brown hair, and this is SO white when I spray it on. Like I get a good sense of what I’ll look like in my 60s. It takes a LOT of rubbing and working through it to get the white out, and I feel like it’s just putting more oil back in my hair from my fingers. Given my hair color, I definitely expect some white from dry shampoo when I first spray it in, but this was … a lot. I’ve used other brands that have barely any and also work, so I know it’s possible. I don’t think it deserves less than 4 stars overall, but for me personally, it’s more like a 2 or 3. I’m going to try a different brand when this runs out. I added a couple of pictures. The first three are before/during/after and the second two are during/after (forgot to take a before) where I think you can see how white it is a little better. Personally, even if it was the perfect color and the color only stuck to hair instead of transferring to skin/nails/clothing/white countertops(!!), it would still be a no for me. The scent is not only terrible, but super strong and pervasive. It lingers, just like the color transfer, both in my bathroom and on me all day, and I hate it. If the overpowering scent wasn't 80% of what's in the can (and not disgusting and musky), I would absolutely deal with the transfer for this as not only a dry shampoo, but a quick and easy root touch-up/color corrector for daily use with no damage. But I can't walk around smelling that heavy, dark, masculine smell. Biolage has a dry shampoo with a heavenly scent. If they ever make that in a dark color, I'll never try another brand. I'm seriously considering a lighter hair color so I can use that one without the color distortion of the residue on dark roots.KH
I use dry shampoo sparingly but when I did, this was my go to. It was an amazing dry shampoo. The colour was nice and it gave great volume, it did make your fingernails look like you crawled in dirt if you touched your hair, BUT I COULD LOOK PASSED THAT. keep in mind I’m talking about the product in past tense, because they have clearly changed the formula. NOW- it literally doesn’t work. It’s not as stiff / drying, and the transfer is significantly less but it doesn’t soak up any oil and the volume is MIA????? What’s the point ??????? BRING BACK THE STIFF/DIRTY FORMULA AT LEAST IT WORKED! I can manage dirty fingernails and stiff hair for a day, but what’s the point of this doesn’t work for it’s intended purpose!!!!! I used this in combination with the replenish mask, hydrate lotion, and style cream. Functionally, this shampoo worked great. It had a nice lather, did a great job of removing build-up, without being too drying, and so far has not made my scalp itchy. I have a dry and sensitive scalp so thats one of my bigger struggles. The packaging also looks very nice although the screw off lid is annoying from the user end. My 3-star rating really comes down to the scent. I prefer hair products that have a fresh, natural, and pleasant scent while I am in the shower and fade away to the background after I shower so they don't conflict with other products. This is not what ABC's products are aimed towards. All of the products have a very strong flowery perfume. It's almost unpleasant in the shower, it's so concentrated, and it really lingers after you shower. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that is sensitive to fragrance or anyone who isn't a fan of floral perfumes. I personally was hoping for a light citrus/neroli scent.Kate
I am giving this away because I cannot stand the smell. The company describes it as "date and cinnamon" which sounds lovely, but I think it smells like old lady rose perfume. It is definitely floral but not in a good way. I have never gotten rid of a product because of the smell before – even the ones that I didn't love the smell of. It is soooo fragrant – not subtle at all. So you if you can take a whiff of this in the store, I would recommend it before buying it. Product was OK on my hair. I have fine, thin, color-treated hair. The first time I used it it was very heavy but I probably used too much. The second time I used less and it was better but it wasn't anything to write home about. I love this shampoo. I have really fine, straight hair and it tends to get oily quickly. I've been using the shampoo for a few weeks and this is the cleanest my hair has felt in ages. There is no build up or residue left over, my hair is shiny and has a little bit of volume (as much as it is capable of), and it does not clog follicles or mess with my scalp, nor does it leave my hair feeling dry. I have been using cruelty free products for decades and it is really hard to find a shampoo that doesn't weigh my hair down. I just love this one. It is a thinner formula but lathers nicely. I love the fragrance. It is a mild floral, and smells like one of the Kiehl's floral shower gels from the 90s. I also like the simple packaging.RaeCat

I LOVE Aveda products and I am absolutely mad for the scent of Shampure. I'm also a frequent user of dry shampoo, as I have long hair and I like to extend times as long as possible between washing. I was so disappointed (and I very rarely write negative reviews but, oh, do I wish I'd read the one-star reviews before buying). As many have said, there is very little control of the product with the dispenser (I thought it was a spray because I wasn't able to go into a store and see the product). The bottle is basically a powder blower. You either get a tiny puff or your hair and clothes are covered. The scent is super light, but I was looking forward to a little more of that wonderful Shampure scent. The worst part is, this doesn't even work. My hair still feels oily after using it and it's just like putting talc powder on it. And at the price I paid!!! And it's a very small bottle!! Again, wasn't able to see it first, thanks Covid. Had I known what I was buying, I never would have even tried it. So, live and learn and please, heed my warning. I was so much happier with my much less expensive can of Batiste from the grocery store! But I love everything else Aveda I've ever purchased!!! This is def an outlier!!!vondenmeer
The dispenser is not great, as others have said you get a lot or get a little. When you get a lot, it is everywhere. You really only need a little. Spray it on your hair, work it through and let it sit for 10 minutes. If you used too much and you have an ashy floury look to your hair use a hair dryer and brush upside down to get the excess product out. The bottle does last quite awhile, I have been using mine every 3rd day for almost 6 months, and still no need to replace it. The scent is faint but does last until you wash the product out. The product is more like a thickener or braid grip texturizer. I have straight hair and I like it to feel silky, shiny, and have movement. Once I use it, my hair becomes stiff and almost impossible to run my fingers through. It almost feels like sticky hairspray but with grit. However, it makes my hair look ok clean wise until I have time to wash it. It is hard to wash out because of the stickiness. You need to gently scratch your scalp with your nails(you will see the build up under your nails) and actually wash the length of your hair to remove it. I have found I have to wash twice to really get the stuff out, which is not great for my hair. I wish Aveda had a formula that was for straight hair and left it silky. Still looking for the perfect replacement to the discontinued Oscar Blandi product I loved.Jenn36
I really like this dry shampoo. It gets rid of my greasy roots between washes and really gives added volume. One bottle lasts me ages and ages because you only need to use a little amount. It also has a pleasant smell. I also have the "foam reset™ rinseless hydrating hair cleanser". As it has a nozzle, it is easier to use than the Shampure dry shampoo. It also makes the scalp feel fresher (it's liquid after all). I don't find the scent as nice as the Shampure dry shampoo though. I would say both products boost volume (perhaps the dry shampoo adds a little more). In summary, if you have greasy roots between washes, go for the dry shampoo. If you don't opt for the foam reset™ rinseless hydrating hair cleanser as it's easier to use and feels lovely. I personally will probably continue to buy both, depending on what I think my hair needs on the day. Since switching 100% to Aveda haircare products, my hair can go much longer (4 or 5 days as opposed to 1 day) between washes before the roots look greasy. Not worth it. I went to my salon and this is what they recommended for me to try. I am one of those people that washes my hair daily and has never tried a dry shampoo in my life. So, in preps of coloring my hair and knowing that I cant wash my locks daily I decided to try this. It smells good, but that's all it has going for it. My hair feels grimy, still feels like I need to wash it, and I just end up throwing my hair up in a pony to cover it up in hopes nobody notices that I look like I need to wash my hair. There are some bad reviews and I get it, but here's the thing, you shouldn't be using dry shampoo every day or even every other day. If you're hair is that oily then you're better off washing it. Over use of any dry shampoo would leave to dry, damaged hair. It's literally stripping all the good oils. That being said, this dry shampoo is perfect for time crunch hair styles (day of hair wash but have to go into work first) and I'll definitely be repurchasing. Doesn't weigh hair down. ok so i had this recommended to me by then stylist who recently cut my hair at the ULTA salon, but its amazing!! i have thick hair that gets oily the second day, i workout all the time which means i basically sweat my hairline out everyday. i used a small amount of this and no joke it made my hair look like i just washed it for a whole two days afterwards. you have to really rub it in but by god its a miracle!! it gives a good amount of volume and i was able to flat iron it straight the next day to extend my hair further. i gave this four stars bc it does leave a thicker residue but it washes out fine on the next shampoo (honestly its probably what kept soaking up the sweat and oil lol). I am impressed with this product. the price per ounce is much better vs another brand similarly priced brand like Drybar. I got a trial size version of this and hated it. It seemed to make my hair greasier. Turns out it needed a good shake to remix it. After that I fell in love. I have a super oily scalp and my thick hair can get washed in the morning and be 3rd day greasy by late afternoon. This saves me from having to resort to the dreaded greasy onion bun the day after washing. I can get away with 4 days without washing with this. It’s great for camping. Some tips: shake the can before using and pull sections of hair upwards and spray underneath. Spray in short blasts so you don’t overdo it. Let it sit for awhile then brush through your hair to disperse it. It’s best to use a few hours before styling or the night before so it has time to absorb the excess oil. It smells very hair product-y but that goes away with time (or a spritz of perfume!).barstr7

I've heard bad things about dry shampoo. My hair is greasy by day 2 or 3 but it's not dirty. It looks limp and terrible!! When I use Aveda powder shampoo, it's like magic! My hair is instantly fresh, non greasy, and smells so fresh! Gives me some needed volume too! I've found that by hanging upside down and squeezing the powder into my hands, and then using small amounts on my fingers, rub into my scalp in sections. It's less messy, and I can apply more evenly with my hands. This is the only dry shampoo I'll ever trust to use. It disappeared into my scalp with no white powdery residue showing! This stuff is great! I was hesitant to get this because of the reviews. But I did anyway because I'm currently training my hair to be able to wash less (I have fine hair and it was getting soo greasy after one day that I felt I needed to wash it everyday – a vicious circle). I absolutely HATE aerosol dry shampoos – one: they reek so bad it makes me nauseous having to smell it all day, two: they make my scalp and forehead breakout, and three: I have never felt like they made my hair feel refreshed or less greasy. Before purchasing this AVEDA product I started using my baby's Burt's Bees Dusting Powder to help manage the grease and it was absorbing oil but it was a lot of powder and I was getting a cakey scalp and I could see the powder in my hair. This AVEDA product absorbs oil, smells wonderful, and it's a powder not an aerosol (which I love). My hair feels fresh and I haven't had any irritated hair follicles or pimples on my forehead. My only suggestions/criticisms would be maybe a different container.. the way the bottle closes is not closed, my product arrived in a box covered in Shampowder because it came out of the product container. And second, that it is quite spendy, which I figured as much because Aveda is a quality product but for others looking for a product they might look elsewhere because of the price.Emmy
I love this product so much. I was skeptical at first, having tried so many dry shampoos over the years and never really finding one that worked well for me. But this one does. It took me some time to figure out how to use it, and how to best disperse it into my hair and how much, but it's well worth taking the time to figure it out. I don't have oily hair, but I have fine hair that will start looking flat, dull, and "dirty" the day after washing no matter what I do. This fixes that immediately. It leaves my hair looking clean and fresh, with no stickiness or residue. And I can go for longer between washes. I quite like the scent, it's not the best scent ever but it's also not intense and overpowering, it just smells clean. And no, the application is not going to be as accurate as an aerosol spray, that's just the way it is. If you want that, you have to get an aerosol spray. The search for the best dry shampoo is over! This is it! I have tried every dry shampoo trying to find what works best for my fine/oily hair. Although I have dark hair I don’t mind that this comes out white. This is the easiest one to work the white cast out without making the “magic” disappear. I did pick the original scent. I was initially worried it was going to be very heavily fragranced as Drybar products usually are (not that it’s a bad thing), but it’s not. The scent is softer than expected, pleasant, and comforting. It’s not overly gritty or sticky, it’s more of a light powdery feel which is why I think it soaks up the oil better! I have relatively oily hair, so I can't normally make it longer than 2 days without noticeable greasy roots. I searched for the best dry shampoos and found that some left a white residue on my roots no matter what, or even made my hair appear more oily than it was before I applied the dry shampoo. I fell in LOVE with DryBar Detox dry shampoo about 2 years ago and would never recommend or buy another brand. It's somewhat pricey, but absolutely worth every penny. It works SO well, I've even used it multiple times on the same unwashed hair over the course of 7+ days… and it smells incredible!! I've found the best method of application is to shake and spray approx 8 inches from the root to separated sections of hair before I get in the shower. After I shower, I'll massage it into my roots and rub the dampened towel over my roots (head flipped upside down). Then style as usual!! Oof I did not like this product. Ive been using Bumble and Bumble pret a powder for years and it’s the BEST, but just thought I’d try something new.. First, the smell is HORRIBLE, it’s so strong and lasted all day. Every time my hair flipped I got a big whif. Also didn’t really feel like it did anything…? It did blend into my darker roots easily when I rubbed it in which was nice, but my hair still looked a bit greasy. I was also hoping it would provide some texturizing, but it didn’t. Perhaps the last part is on my because it’s not a texturizer like the BB one. I’ll be sticking with what I know and returning this product. If you are sensitive to smells (which I’m usually not so that should tell you how bad the smell is) don’t buy this product.dreboych

I’m a big Oribe fan. I think they make fantastic products and the smell is to die for. I even buy their perfume. Along with their oil and shampoos I use. Now with that being said I was very excited to receive this product. Both because I’m a big dry shampoo user and a new mom if that doesn’t say enough… yea. And also because oribe isn’t a cheap brand and I figured their dry shampoo must be top notch. So my thoughts – smell is nice but I wouldn’t purchase this product again. If you need a dry shampoo more for texture when styling clean hair this is very light, doesn’t add weight, doesn’t add color (white out effect very common from other brands) and will add a light texture for hold. This is not a dry shampoo for actual dirty unwashed hair. I still had pieciness on top after using PLENTY of product. In fact I think that’s another flaw I needed to spray way to much just to get a basic absorption of oil/grease. So I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend this product for a dry shampoo if you need it for dirty hair. I would for maybe one day dirty or styling needs. I have very oily hair and am always on the hunt for a new dry shampoo that actually works. This dry shampoo comes in a large bottle, the button is a little hard to push to dispense the dry shampoo evenly – you have to really hold it firm. It does smell really good though and has a kind of luxurious smell to it. I have used it multiple times now when my hair gets to the point of looking like you can pop popcorn on it. I have brunette hair and it hasn’t been noticeable when I sprayed it on. I followed the instructions spraying a little ways away and on the roots. Then once you let it sit you can brush through your hair. It has helped dampen the oils a little and given me an extra day to go without washing my hair. The gold adds a cute bonus touch as well that gives my hair a little sparkle in a good way. The reason for 4 stars is because $48 is an insane price for a single bottle of dry shampoo and just not doable for the average person. I would consider this to be a premium brand at this price. This dry shampoo works well, I would say a solid 8/10 in terms of oil absorption and adding volume at the roots. Why the 5 stars though? Gather round, y’all. I was headed out with my husband and sprayed 4 shots of this into my hair in the car. He never comments on any perfumes, hairsprays, etc. The man went on for 5 solid minutes about how amazing it smelled and how he wanted the whole house to smell exactly like this product. He made me go to their website to see if they sold candles of this scent. They, sadly, do not. Flash forward to tonight. the ingredients for this is fairly simple. mane magic contains argon oil and sunflower seed oil which are both great for promoting shine and smoothness. before I start this review, let me just say this: this is the old packaging, amazon just sent me this but if you see the new packaging, the formula is still the same!! this holy grail product does all 10 things it claims such as: heat protection, reduced frizz, detangles, softens, cuts drying time, uv protection, and much more!! the claim that stunned me lost was the way this cuts drying time. it’s literally MAGIC the way this cuts my drying time. I normally use batiste, I was looking for something different just because the white powder that comes out of it looks bad on my black hair as well as the dirty feeling to my hair. I did not notice any white residue with this I just gave it a good shake and sprayed. It even made my hair feel silky. The negative that I found is that while it smells really great at first, it stays on your hair and smells like a weird senior citizen make up powder. My bathroom also smells like it for a while. For the reason of the really strong sent, it just doesn’t sit well with me I feel like I’m breathing in chemicals. I have tried alot and didn’t ever have a smell that lasted this long. I have very thick, coarse hair that I only wash every 5-10 days. I need a dry shampoo that has some actual substance to it that I can use every day & oh my word. Not only is this extremely reasonably priced, it works like a charm. It doesn't take a ton for me because I don't have a very oily scalp, I just need to soak up the extra oil from running around because I have a busy job that requires lots of movement. This offers amazing volume & smells INCREDIBLE. My boyfriend is a foot taller than me & is always leaning down to kiss my head & smell my hair. It helps my stretch my wash day as far out as possible & it's also a good size. It smells like vanilla buttercream but better & the spray nozzle is great at not delivering clumps of dry shampoo. I've never understood why people would leave such dramatic reviews sometimes, until I found this product. I don't think I can get all of my positive thoughts and emotions depicted in this review alone. I've always struggled to find a good dry shampoo and thought I'd have to settle on some of the criteria I had, but this checks off all the boxes. It smells great, and the smell itself isn't very strong like batiste and other brands – it's light and floral fruity. A little goes a long way, and my hair stays oil-free looking all day. Other dry shampoos I've tried, I can feel the texture of my oils and the dry shampoo together, making me never want to touch my hair. I am still aware there is dry shampoo in my hair, but now I can run my fingers through without a gunky feeling on my fingers. I have very fine,straight, long hair. When I wash it, I have to put some kind of cream rinse or conditioner or spray on it to detangle it , since it is highlighted. My hair is usually too flat and would not be the way I like it till the 3rd day. I've tried mouse & spray texturizes; but the spray texturizers make your hair tacky and sticky and feel dirty. I wash my hair so it's clean, and then if you use a texturizing spray or mouse, it makes it sticky and tacky. The great thing about this dry shampoo is after washing my hair; I just spray specific pieces around the front & the crown, rub it in to my roots, wait a minute, brush it through , and I have instant thickness and body & my hair takes shape and is styled. My hair is not sticky or tacky and is very full. I've spent so much money trying every other Premier brand, and they just make your hair feel dirty. I love this product. I would not be without it & use it all the time on clean hair; and is GREAT in a bind after the gym & when you need to have your hair look great for another day before you can get to wash it .Denny
Ive been waiting to rate this product as my opinions on it kept changing. I bought the biggest bottle and I'm nearly done with it so I think my time has come to say what I feel. First, I'm going to mention that I have medium brown colored hair, medium/leaning thin on thickness. I tried to follow the directions on this bottle BAD MISTAKE. You have to work fast with this product. You spray, start working it in immediately. If I waited even 3-5 minutes, I could not get any of the white coloring out. I think there is a major difference in this issue if your hair is lighter. Yes, it does feel very light when its in your hair, you definitely don't feel disgusting and they may be on to something when they say it 'actually cleans hair.' However, I found this product to be too unreliable. Sometimes I felt like this was IT but too many times I thought that it's really not that great. I would try a travel size first. There are much cheaper options that I feel work consistently. This isn't something I can always count on but when it works, its fabulous.AgataRose
