Best Dyson Vacuum For Pets (2025 Update)

Vacuum cleaners have slowly been making the transition from uprights that you drag around the floor (common design for many decades) into hand-held models, both wired and battery powered wireless. There are many similarities between makes and models, but Dyson has decided to up the game with their new “Dyson Outsize” model. The Dyson Outsize is big… VERY big, for a hand-held. The dust and dirt collection bin is 150% larger (or more) than most other models on the market, and the roller/cleaner head is 25% larger as well. As a result, you can in theory, vacuum your whole house without having to stop in-between rooms to empty a small bin, as this one is large enough to handle most homes without stopping. The larger cleaner head also means fewer passes over a floor to cover the same ground compared to smaller units. Two batteries were included with my unit, so in theory you can also do that same house without having to recharge (well… maybe – more later). I wasn’t wanting for accessories. Mine came with the larger cleaner head, a small power head for cleaning furniture, three dust/brush ends that would be good for small furniture or cars, and a thin longer crevice tool, also good for cars or behind cushions, etc. The main extension wand, two batteries, two chargers, and a wall hanging unit completed a very full box. Note, there is NO floor stand included as with some other brands (boo) – just a bracket you can screw into your wall to hang the Dyson from when not in use. I didn’t need to really read the instructions for assembly – literally you just snap the extender into the main dust bin body, and snap whichever end tool you want to that, and once the batteries are charged and you attach one to the handle, you are ready to go. Pulling the trigger starts the unit and a small, round display screen facing you tells you which power level you’re using (auto mode, eco, or boost), as well as gives you a per-minute estimate on how long your battery will last before giving out. Dyson’s claim to fame on their models is that they will maintain full suction power until the battery dies, as opposed to weakening as the battery does, and I found this to be pretty much the case. Eco mode is for light cleaning (I found this best for harder non-carpeted floors) and gives you about 60 minutes of run time per full battery charge. Auto mode will vary the power depending on type of surface and need – more of a medium/normal clean, and gives you roughly 20-40 minutes of run time (I averaged around 30 minutes). Boost mode is a lot more powerful for deep cleaning, but, hold on… at best you’ll get 5-8 (or so) minutes from the battery using this mode. The batteries are pretty hefty in size and weight, and take about 3 ½ hours to charge (each). The Outsize is powerful. It did pull up dirt from my carpet that a lesser model missed, especially in boost mode. The auto mode did a little better than many others, and the eco mode again is just for light cleaning which I found to be best picking up crumbs from the kitchen wood floor (the cleaner head adjusts automatically for floor type). It was reasonably quiet, and the HEPA filter near the top of the bin filtered the air well, though it did create a “breeze” that knocked a few sheets of paper off of nearly tables as I passed. In terms of cleaning power and battery life so long as I kept it on auto or eco, I consider this to be a very good machine. Now… one thing: SIZE. As said earlier, this is a very large hand-held vacuum. By the time I got near the end of my house, my arm could definitely feel that I had been carrying a larger machine around. Not really a huge issue for me, but if you are buying this for someone else such as an older relative, a smaller person, or someone who’s not the strongest person around, they may have issues with the size and/or weight. I have few other complaints about the Dyson Outsize, but one is as mentioned earlier, the lack of an included floor stand, which some other brand models have. Not everyone is able to hang this from their wall (or if in a rental/apartment, you may not wish to screw a wall mount into the wall). A floor stand is, in my opinion, more convenient, so it would have been nice to see one included. Last, the price. Dyson is a premium vacuum brand, and you do pay for that. It does come with a full two year warranty (personally I wish it were more like 5 years at this price point). Only you can decide if it fits into your budget or not, but again, it is a very good machine. So, with the considerations you’ll need to take with size/weight/budget, I do recommend the Dyson Outsize.AtlantaGreg

This review is going to compare it to our older V10 Absolute. 1. Tools included in Outsize Absolute version are: High Torque XL cleaner head – provides better coverage (tool is wider) and also picks up dirt better than 'Direct Drive' on V10 – It adapts to the surface and speeds up or slow downs based on the resistance.. Laser Slim Fluffy™ cleaner head – this is much better than 'Soft roller' on V10. Laser seems like gimmick but actually helps finding missed spots on flat surfaces. Hair screw tool – works better than Mini motorised tool from V10 Combination tool – same as on V10 Quick-release mini soft dusting brush – same as on V10 Crevice tool – same as on V10. 2. Battery life Compared to our Dyson V10 its it has much better battery life – each setting lasts substantially longer than on V10 and with better suction. Battery in Outsize is swappable and second battery is included in the box so you you can swap it any time you run out of juice. Conveniently two chargers are in the box as well so you can have one attached permanently to docking station and you can use second one to charge second battery at the same time. Spare battery and battery life makes it very convenient even for large houses where V10 might not last long enough for full cleaning. 3. Size/weight Outsize is significantly larger (haven't measured) and heavier than V10 (2.4kg vs 1.6kg). Suction is better than on V10 probably at least partially because of that and you don't have to empty it as often but at the price of vacuum being more bulky and less convenient as cordless device. Generally this makes the Outsize much more convenient for large surfaces/floors but less convenient for hard to reach places, stairs etc. My wife still haven't decided if weight/size justifies the improvements but kids always pick V10 over Outsize when cleaning. 4. Other notes Tools are compatible between both versions. Same tool tested on both vacuums works better on Outsize than on V10 which I think can be attributed to better suction on Outsize compared to V10. Docking station is not compatible between V10 and Outsize due to different size of battery. Display on the back is nice addition and gives you graphical overview of remaining charge and after few seconds of continuous use shows estimated time so you have good indication how long battery will last. Button on back of Outsize to select modes is much more convenient than slider selector on V10. Tools are compatible between both versions. Same tool tested on both vacuums works better on Outsize than on V10 which I think can be attributed to better suction on Outsize compared to V10. I just received this Tuesday and so far I like it. I told myself if I didn’t have a life changing moment, I would return it for the price of this thing. I’ve been vacuum shopping for over a year since giving my vacuum away. I have all tile floors and I’m old school, so I can work a broom and mop lol. I figured I’d be okay and would get a really good one later. Well, later finally arrived!! I did some research and read a lot of reviews and decided on this one. I have a steam mop with a light and I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to come across a spot of missed dust in a corner. Off top, I knew the 2 brush heads and attachments would be exactly what I needed to combat the surface dirt and dust. I binged vacuumed my whole 3 bedroom apartment yesterday testing this thing out… I vacuumed appliances, vents, ceiling fans, area rugs, windows, base boards, furniture, etc. I did have to charge the chargers twice because I used them down to 0% using all three modes (depending on the area), but did not charge fully as I was not waiting the 3.5 hours. My second charges started with about 75% each charge. With that being said, I’m sure I can finish all my floors in one session. I typically vacuum main areas all together and then rooms separately. This was an abnormal cleaning session and I was just all over the place geeked. This thing is hands down an efficient tool. Definitely 5 stars for efficiency. There are so many tools for every job, and this really picks up the dust. I’m not sure how it does it because it handles so smoothly and is not very loud. The suction does not death grip the surfaces but is able to smoothly glide along and hit the particles just right to clean them up. It picks up bigger particles as well and it picked up a small clusters of dog hair from our Yorkie. She does not shed a lot but sometimes her hair will gather in a corner. Just for comparison for other dog owners. It does not kick particles back out over the floor at all. It’s a one pass for all tools as well, not just the brush rolls. Going over the base boards was really easy whereas before I was cleaning them with cleaner solution and a rag. My only gripe is that the Outsize is HEAVY!!! It really is. It’s easy to push over the floor and carpet but actually lifting the thing up to dust ceiling fans was treacherous. I am going to get a stepping stool to see if that helps not having to reach as high. I will continue to brain storm how to use the reach tools to shorten the actual reach of my arm. I think that will be the ultimate solution is finding new ways to reach the crevices as comfortably as possible. Storage and space wise, this thing is awesome. I just mounted my wall bracket and will be picking up the stand today. I will like using the stand in each room while I’m vacuuming instead of trying to set the thing down or lean it somewhere safe. So, I would recommend buying the stand. Overall, I would say get it! The price is steep but I’ve never had a vacuum cleaner that cuts my cleaning time by more than half so I feel that it’s worth the investment. This is my first stick vac ever and it’s exactly what I wanted, but I have nothing to compare it to. I just know the reviews I read are pretty spot on. Our old vac. died and my husband has always wanted an upright vacuum cleaner. As he is the one who does most of the vacuuming I told him to buy whatever he wanted. We have always wanted to try a Dyson but the price was always too expensive. Myer had this one on a good special so we got it. We have 2 long haired big dogs who come inside regularly and of course leave fur behind on the carpet. We have carpet all through our house with tiles mainly in the wet areas. The vacuum cleaner is heavy but my husband finds it is not much harder to push than the old barrel vac. because of the powerful head. The suction is excellent and seems to suck up so much more dirt and fur than the old one. The power head is quite wide and does not easily get into some of the narrower spaces the old vac did. It has a very long power cord which is great but I do miss the an auto rewind feature. Moving from hard floors to carpet is no problem. This vac. does not have adjustable suction so on more delicate mats it is harder to use. A flexible extension hose is attached to the upright handle along with different floor tool attachments. It is able to be used for those more difficult to get to places. I found the flexible hose very strong and not particularly flexible, and tended to pull the vacuum over if used too roughly. This is my least liked part of the Dyson. The canister is fairly easy to empty though the dust does tend to cling inside due to static electricity and needs a strong shake/tap or something put into the canister to help dislodge all the dust. I absolutely love this vacuum. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars is because it’s heavy. I’ve had it for 10 years I feel like. This poor thing has been through the ringer and used for many things (some things I probably should’ve used a shop vac for 🤷🏼‍♀️)but has performed so well. I’ve YouTube’s and taken apart before to fix clogs and different things and I have to say it’s easy to work on. I just got it serviced for the first time ever and it was well overdue. I’m just now starting to replace a few parts here and there to update it.lauren.s

This vacuum is by far the best vacuum I've ever owned. My boyfriend and I purchased this before we moved into a new apartment (ALL CARPET) back in May 2015. Our Kitty before moving was an outdoor cat and had to transition to being an indoor cat when we moved into our new place. The combination of our 1100 square foot apt and our now indoor cat caused quite a lot of dust/hair/dirt. I am very allergic to cats so this was quite the dilemma for me. Thankfully this vacuum does an amazing job at sucking up cat hair/dander/dust/dirt and sometimes even things you don't necessarily want to vacuum up. My vacuum and I were doing great once a week vacuuming up everything I desired…until it wasn't… The wand you use to vacuum stuff up has a few different attachments depending on what task is at hand. My task last August was to vacuum up all the excess cat litter/lint in our combo bathroom/cat bathroom/laundry room. All was going well until I stuck the wand in between the wall and the side of the dryer trying to make sure I got every piece of lint hair etc. All of a sudden I hear a noise where I could tell I vacuumed something bad up there and could tell the suction was being impaired.. Somehow I vacuumed a mini sized BIC lighter that got wedged in the middle of the vacuum wand. I literally tried every way I could think of to try to push it out. I tried sticking a long dowel down the tube to try to push it out which only broke my wooden dowel.. then I tried to lubricate it with some water/oil which also didn't work. Finally after two weeks of attempting to dislodge the lighter I broke down and bought a $20 replacement off Amazon and then proceeded to snap the busted lighter stuck in it one in half (took a number of attempts so clearly this is some well made plastic)molly.p

First, the positive: Initially, this was a great purchase. Powerful and lasts for long enough for most jobs, and that's still the case after 3 years. Now the negative: Since about 6 months ago, when starting use after it's been on charge for easily sufficient time to fully charge, it cuts out within about 20 seconds, plug it in for 30 seconds, it works for 20 seconds, plug it in for 30 seconds, it works for 20 seconds, plug in again and it then usually works for some 6 minutes on full power. This is simply a defective unit as the battery is clearly still holding the charge. Wouldn't rush to buy a Dyson again.RobS53

We had a precious model DC34 which served us well until the motor died. We also have a V10 and a Miele plug in for the bigger jobs, and wanted to replace the hand held This gets regular light use .Despite emptying after every use and washing the filter it started pulsing.My wife and I have just spent a quite few hours cleaning the machine.the filter was totally clogged inside and more importantly the interior, inside the shiny perforated cylindrical right up to the cyclones was full of debris /clogged . Dyson , can you put an official video up how to clean it please . The old Hand held DC34 was a simpler and effective design and never clogged up like this one .Padraic

Bought this to do small pickups after a sweep of the floor, and to clean the car. It's proven handy when doing a bit of DIY around the house, where you can immediately pickup any small debris left from drilling etc. For very quick jobs it's good, but the "standard" power mode is a bit of a joke as it can barely pick up dust let-alone bigger objects like spilled cereal and a bit of dirt. Max power has some decent suction and, with the motorised tool, makes short work of cleaning rugs and carpets, but this only last for around 6 minutes, so again is only good for quick jobs. Like other reviewers, I also had the intermittent power issue, but after following the support video step by step, it started working again – I had cleaned everything else before following the steps, but didn't know about the easy to remove and clean filter. Generally, I find it quite easy to clean and put back together, actually much easier than the dyson cylinder vac (where I have to pull the bin apart to get out the hair). I am a bit torn on this machine, I do like a dyson, and I end up using the handheld on average twice a day, but it could just be a bit better. Given that it is a similar price to the cylinder vac, I was expecting a bit more. A killer feature would be the ability to run it while plugged in – I know this defeats the purpose of the "cordless" handheld, but running out of power when you only have a couple of minutes to go is quite infuriating. I’ve had this unit for 9 months now and unlike many other reviews, I have had absolutely no problems. I have a 3 level, townhome with hard wood floors and stairs and this vacuum handles it all. The pivoting head gets into all the hard places. I can do 2 entire floors and 2 flights of stairs on a single charge. I’ve had no issues with the vacuum holding it’s charge. Others have claimed that hair is an issue for this vacuum, but I have long hair that seems to shed everywhere and have had no issues. My only criticism is that the dust/debris container is a little small and can open rather quickly when going to empty the container possibly getting some dust not into the trash if you’re not careful. Otherwise, I am very happy with this vacuum. For those complaining it doesn’t vacuum their throw rugs, it isn’t designed to do that and clearly states it, so complaints about that scattered in the negative reviews are due to human/operator error, not the device.UTJenn

This new Dyson Omni-glide is a new stick vacuum which I’m delighted to review. The power button on/off switch is on the stick itself. I like this feature as you do not have to hold the power trigger while in use as in other models. It is extremely light and comfortable to use. It can also manoeuvre under furniture for easy cleaning i.e. flat to the ground. It glides around the house effortlessly thanks to its new omni-glide dual swivel head making it easy to clean around and under tables, chairs and stools with very little effort. There are two power modes, normal and max, the buttons are positioned on the stick handle for ease of use. It took 2.5 hours approx to charge, each charge lasting 20-25 minutes on normal mode and 4-6 minutes on max power. It is great for solid floors/wood/tiles etc but will not work on carpets or heavy rugs but I already knew this from the product description. The product will stop automatically when it comes into contact with carpet and I had to turn off/on to get it to work again. Overall the suction power is excellent and was very pleased with the results. The omni-glide dustbin is smaller than other machines in the Dyson range but is sufficient for daily cleaning. To empty the dustbin is effortless with a one touch slide button. This is an ideal light and easy manoeuvrable powerful vacuum for a household with solid floors and would highly recommend. This hard floor hoover is okay for small jobs like your bedrooms or bathrooms. I use this for my upstairs cleaning as the batty and bin is very small. The suction is very low too and is literally just a quick task hoover. It’s really good at picking up dirt and doing under the beds so I’d say it’s ideal for a bedroom. Hoover. However it can’t tackle large jobs. The price is very very high for what it is… you can buy a cheaper hoover with stronger suction and a fluffy head attachment for hard floors. The bin is absolutely tiny!!! I would recommend this hoover to people who are okay with spending the money for a bedroom / upstairs hoover. Or for people who own small apartments or studio flats / bedsit’s – then it makes a good hoover. I don’t recommend for anyone looking todo deep cleaning in a full home… I give it three star rating because the bin is tiny, it’s got a maximum 20 minute battery & about 5 minutes on max power. The rollers are very weak and will stop turning if it sucks up large bits. So it’s only for small partials / dust vacuuming… as the suction Is not that grate & I think it could be improved. I was looking to purchase a vacuum for my daughter who is moving into her first apartment. I contacted my brother who is what I will call a QVCaholic from kitchen items, appliances, food, outdoor furniture, did I mention kitchen items. He highly recommended not only the brand but I couldn't go wrong with the price and easy pay. It ended up both my brother and I purchased vacuums. He's giving her his vacuum and now I have a brand new vacuum which I absolutely love. I love the way it gets close to the baseboard with the "ball" action of the vacuum as opposed to my upright that I currently have. This vacuum deep cleans so much more than what I currently own. I researched a lot of vacuums before I made a purchase. I was willing to pay for a high quality product as I think its money well spent. I went back and forth between Shark and Dyson. I researched motors and suction as well as performance on hard floors vs carpet. We don't have any carpet in our home. I needed something that picked up the dust and dander after our 3 dogs. It had to be easy to maneuver because of our home size and it had to be easy to empty and store. I didn't want to fight with an appliance daily. I read this has Dyson's strongest suction. I can tell that it is stronger than previous vacuums. It gets everything. It met all of my wants and needs in a vacuum. It is very easy to use and moves quickly from room to room. It's easy to switch between floor and tools and to switch out tool heads as well. I like vacuuming with this because I can see the difference and my cleaning goes very quickly. I'd give it 6 starts if I could. QVC had the best price on this item. I'm glad they carried it and I'm glad that I invested.Fawndear

We’ve had a dyson for 10 years the old style all floors the classic yellow and grey. All it ever needed was filters and it was built to last. Love dyson products. After retiring the old one and upgraded to our new one nothing has changed. The ball technology is super convient. When we got it in it was like we got a new member of the family me my wife and the kids all put it together, and marveled over its beauty. Seriously the thing is a beautiful household appliance lol. The kids wanted to use the attachments so my daughter did the top of the ceiling fan mind you she’s 8. And my son did underneath the couch. That’s how easy and user friendly this thing is. And it is extremely powerful. It’s like they took our old dc7 dyson shrunk it down and gave it a face lift. It’s my wife’s favorite thing to do now. Heck I even enjoy using it. I could go on and on about this vacuum but I’ll just finish. And say best vacuum in the world for a middle class working family can’t beat the price.The tauriello family

OMG! I didn't think it was possible, but I've fallen in love with a vacuum. Tried cordless before and dissatisfied with suction, battery life, etc. This model came with all the attachments I could possibly use. Suction is fantastic for any vacuum, let alone a cordless. Keeps a charge long enough to vacuum whole house. Works great on all the area rugs, hardwoods and tile floors. Super easy to empty the canister too. Very easy to change attachments for upholstery, curtains, beds, walls, whatever. It can maneuver into almost any space. I have multiple pets and this baby can handle all their messes. I really loved this vacuum until the motor broke after only one year. I guess that’s what happens when you purchase a refurbished item vs a brand new one. The overall vacuum is great. The canister holds a lot before you need to empty it, and it truly lives up to being a “pet vacuum.” I have a husky and it was able to handle all of his fur. Perfect for vacuuming hardwood floors, as well as area rugs and dog beds. Definitely just purchase a brand new one instead of refurbished!Danni

The only good feature of this vacuum is the suction. Also, you do get a great work out using it as it is very heavy. I stupidly bought many of the over-priced attachments, some of which don't even fit, only to find that using them is so cumbersome that I often choose not to. If you want to switch back and forth between attachments and vacuum, you have to hold the attachment hose/wand and the cord in one hand, and the vacuum in the other. There should be some kind of latch to hold the hose when switching, but there isn't. Speaking of the hose, you don't want to get your fingers caught after stretching it because it really hurts. You have to be extra careful to get the vacuum to to click in the upright position, often needing several attempts, or risk dinging your walls when it falls. For the price of the vacuum, Dyson should definitely have a retractable cord. Using the attachment hose requires removing the hook that holds the cord, so it will be completely unrolled (even if you only need a few feet), leaving you with a 20' cord that can and does easily end up tripping you. This vacuum has great suction, but if you're expecting your vacuum to last more than 2 to 3 years then don't buy this because it is made from cheap plastics. I've had this vacuum for just over 2 1/2 years and thought it was really great. I use it for about 2 hours per week, so less than 300 hours of total use time. Just noticed this week the whole lower duct assembly has cracked rendering the vacuum completely unusable. This cracking has occurred due to the step in the owner's manual showing you have to bend the vacuum forward in order to get it to lock into the upright position. This forward bending motion puts a lot of stress on the cheaply made plastic connection near the ball. I don't care if Dyson said it is made from the same material in riot gear, and tested for 50,000 hours. It's a poorly designed part subjected to a lot of stress when attempting to lock the vacuum in the upright position. I have contacted Dyson and they are sending me a part to fix the vacuum, but if it's the same cheap junk, I can see it breaking again in another 2 to 3 years. I expect a vacuum cleaner to last a lot longer than 2 years, given the price paid for a Dyson. Dyson really needs to step up and make these parts that are subjected to stresses much more robust. Even when new the handle part of the vacuum seems rather flimsy. I will not be recommending to anyone to purchase a Dyson. Save your money and look elsewhere.StevenTN

I have been a lifelong user of Dyson vacuums from the very earliest days. I have always thought that they are the best. Sad to say that after 2 years of use I cannot say that about the Animal 2. Just for the record we also have the Dyson V6 Animal which my wife uses because of her Rheumatoid Arthritis. Once a week I will do the heavy duty, top to bottom house clean with the Animal 2. And I don't look forward to it at all. First of all the positives: 1. Fantastic suction 2. I use all of the heads that can be attached to the hose and are excellent for getting into the difficult spots. The negatives: 1. This is a heavy machine. Now I keep myself fit but you get a workout from this machine. Because it is heavy it is not the most manoeuvrable. Somebody like my wife who has RA can forget about using this for more than a minute or two. 2. When using it with the hose when the accessories are attached, the machine does not follow easily and more often than not tips over. It is shocking for doing that. I wouldn't even contemplate using it for the stairs. 3. The hose may be lighter than previous models but honestly does not feel as robust. But so far it has stood two years worth of use. 4. The power cable is sadly far inferior to previous models. It is of cheaper quality and easily gets entangled around the wheels of the vacuum when using the hose and even when using it without the hose. It may be a longer hose (I think) but it gets tangled so easily. All in all, this is one of the worst Dyson's we have had.Andy

If you’ve never used a battery powered stick vacuum, you’re working too hard. The Dyson V7 Advanced Origin vacuum Is one of the lightest vacuums I have used. Easy to maneuver around furniture and items with a flick of the wrist and with its thin beater bar, it fits under furniture with ease. The battery provides about 30 minutes of vacuuming. At first, I thought this may not be enough considering how much time I used to spend vacuuming. But it turns out once you eliminate the time spent plugging and unplugging the vacuum, minding the cord so it doesn’t get stuck or knock something over, or moving things to vacuum around or under them, I found I could vacuum the house much faster than I ever could before with much less effort. Not that I have much battery left, it’s just about all used up. I do feel a bit of “Range Anxiety” having just one fixed battery and do rush more. A replaceable battery pack as used on cordless drills and other tools would be a welcome addition. This Dyson comes with a combination tool, the wand/pipe, and a de-tangling motor bar cleaner head. with hair removal vanes that clear long hair and pet hair from the brush bar. The motor bar cleaner head seems to work, no hair or strings got wrapped around the beater brush. Be aware that this model comes with just what is listed in the product description, the combination tool attachment. There is no crevice or other attachments which used to be standard. Nor is there a wall mounted charging dock. If you know you will need the attachments, you should look at other Dyson models that include them or purchase them separately. Not a problem for me replacing a well-used Dyson vacuum that came with the attachments which are all still in excellent condition. Not including the attachments keeps the older ones that are in good shape from going into the landfill and should help keep the price down. This seems to align with the packaging which was all fully recyclable cardboard. No foam, plastic or other environmentally bad packing material was used. Replace the wand with the combination tool and you have a very powerful hand-held vacuum to clean furniture, drapes, the car, or whatever you need one for. The normal/low power setting seems perfectly adequate for hard wood floors and low pile carpet. The High-power mode adds a very noticeable increase in vacuum power and noise. Nice to have when you need it, but I found I rarely did. The Dyson is a well-made vacuum. Very nimble and powerful. Up to now we have been very happy with our v10 – great performance and useability. But after 18 months two niggly problems have surfaced as a result of the failure of small plastic pieces that are not sold as replacement parts – you have to replace the whole assembly. 1. The red plastic button that attaches the wand to the body has broken and falls off. 2. The red plastic clip that is supposed to stop the bin sliding off the body has worn away, so that the bin comes off every time you just want to empty it. Both are small plastic pieces that are clearly separate to the main components and should be replaceable – but they are not. I was quoted £121 to replace the wand and the body – that is both extortionate pricing and a total waste of the other parts that are duplicated when you buy the spares. Dyson should do better to support customers and the environment. I will also say that we have a still working V6 (nothing gone wrong) and an old DC04 which has had many parts replaced over its' long life, but it still runs fine and was cheap/easy to fix. I guess that says that they are not built like they used to be. Oh and one more thing – the flexible hose for the V10 also fell apart after a year!Disappointed

I have always been huge Dyson fan as I find their products work well and stand the test of time. This cordless vac reminds me of the one I originally purchased nearly 10 years ago. It is nimble and very well balanced. On a fully charged battery, I have been able to spot clean multiple rooms, multiple times (hard floors with a few small rugs). I have used other cordless vacuums and find them to be unevenly weighted compared to the Dyson. The body of this is somewhat heavy for its sized, but the grip, and overall design are very ergonomic and I feel it conforms to the movement of my hand and wrist seamlessly. This makes the weight less of a concern, which is a factor for me as it determines whether I can effectively use a product or not. I personally wish that the on/off was a switch rather than a sqeeze trigger and that the option for max power was a push button thumb trigger rather than sliding switch on top of the body. Also of note, this model does not include any kind of wall mount kit for storage/charging, where my previous model did. I do find the model to be a bit noisy especially on MAX mode, but it is not intolerable. The beater bar does great job picking up hair without tangling.ArmadaJim

My old Dyson DC16 recently died and I was frantic to find a similar replacement. I was just looking for a cordless handheld to quickly vacuum up small areas or spot clean. I saw this V8 cordless Motorhead looked almost identical to my deceased Dyson and an extra perk was that it had a detachable wand so I wouldn't have to bend down/stretch for those hard to reach places. It was $100 off so I ordered it. Straight out of the box, it was heavy. My arm was instantly tired after trying to use it above my head. Multiple issues: The air powerful air coming out of the exhaust vents blows debris everywhere. My small contained mess was now scattered everywhere! The direct driver power head has a plastic guide on the front. This makes it impossible to suck up anything that is larger than that clearance space. I have a parrot that drops sunflower seed shells and Cheerio cereal on the floor and this Dyson just pushes them in front of the vacuum. No room for them to be picked up because of that guide. Strike 3 for me was emptying the dust container. You have to pull hard upward to lift the head off the vacuum which then triggers the dust container bottom to swing open. This did not work easily or smoothly at all. Basically, I had to use two hands to both pry the top part up while pulling the bottom flap down to empty. If it were just one small flaw, I'd get over it but this isn't an inexpensive vacuum! I am beyond disappointed and now I have to drag it back to the Club for a refund.TMc

I thought the old vacuum cleaner was doing a good job, but the first use of the Dyson proved me wrong! It pulled up more stuff than I thought possible. I have heard about the Dyson ball for years, but had no idea that it really would make maneuvering easier. Since we have mostly hard surface travertine floors with several large area rugs, I like that there is an easily accessible switch to turn the beater bar off for vacuuming off the rugs without worrying about scratching the stone floor. The Dyson was delivered quickly, it was well packed and arrived in perfect condition all at a Sam's Club price. The only regret I have is that I waited so long to switch to the Dyson.KenLV

I have a total of 4 Dyson vacuums. Unfortunately I purchased 2 of these before I found out how inferior they are compared to the old ones that I have. I really do not like these ball units. If you try to wheel the unit to where you want to start vacuuming, the lock disengages and the head drops to the floor making it hard to get to your location. It is not just a defective one as both of my units do this. VERY frustrating. Then, when done vacuuming, it is really hard to lock back into the upright position. I feel I wasted my money on these 2. I wanted the convenience of a cordless but didn't want to give up function. I bought a Sh#rk for a little less money and it was worthless. Returned it and bought this hoping it would work similarly to the Dyson Ball that I've had for many years. I was not disappointed. It's has incredible suction. It’s as powerful as our older plug-in standup Dyson, and I appreciate the ease of cordless. The only negative is you have to keep pressing the trigger with your finger to make it go, which is really tiresome if you’re doing multiple rooms. We’re probably just going to jerry rig it so we don’t have to keep pressing the trigger to stay on. It also doesn’t hold as much dust as our old upright, but, it is also easier to dump out the dust than before. I like that it’s much more convenient to carry up stairs. I have been well aware of the Dyson name for a lot of years, and now that I own one, I could never go back to any other vacuum. Dyson vacuums, while expensive, will pay off over time. After opening the box and assembling the vacuum, my wife commented that "that all there is?" We just completed a thorough vacuuming, which was actually done last weekend with our old vacuum. We were amazed in how much more was picked up my the vacuum. The good part of the experience was using the turbo brush. The design is not a typical one. The rotating lateral brushes run counter to each other, along with the powerful vacuum force that sucks up cat hair like nobody's business. This tool alone is worth it's weight in gold. Where the Dyson excels, is the ease of use and cleaning. One touch of the button and out drops the dirt. One click of the canister and you are ready to go. You can really see how Dyson concentrated on practical design, making it very ergonomic. The only little complaint I have is the hose. While it expands quite far, using it with the included accessories can create a bit of a wrestling match with the vacuum body and the hose. It has a tendency to want to contract, due to the extreme vacuum force, but with a little two-handed know-how, you can easily clean off furniture with ease and satisfaction. Another minor issue, that may help Dyson in the future is the placement of accessories on the unit. There is a small rack, to which only two items may be stored. My unit came with four, so you have to choose what you want on-board. Another convenient rack placement would do the trick. All in all, I am extremely pleased with Dyson's ingenuity, attention to detail, ergonomics and careful consideration of the environment. I would highly recommend this unit to anyone who has struggled with other branded vacuums in the past, and for my future, I won't dread having to vacuum weekly.Jimmorvay

Family of 4 with no pets. Vacuum broke after only 1 year of use. Plastic piece that turns brush sheared off. Cannot purchase individual part, only option is to buy new head assembly for $100, but can't buy head assembly because it's out of stock everywhere, even at Dyson. Well our family has gone through two vacuums within two years with other brands; it was hard to find parts at the stores and online. I didn't understand why companies made vacuums and don't provide or sell parts for the vacuum. We went through much frustration trying to find new filters/parts for those other branded vacuum. Finally, I realized I needed to find a vacuum that if I needed to buy a new filter/part it would easy to purchase and locate; and that didn't catch long hair in the bristles. On top of that you can purchase parts for the vacuum online and they have a support hotline number and have local service centers. I finally purchased my first Dyson vacuum and I love it. I haven't experienced any difficulties with the new vacuum, however am at ease knowing that the parts for my vacuum exist and can be easily purchased. My Dyson vacuum is flawless, it really does everything it says on the box! I loved it so much, I vacuumed my house for the whole first week of my purchase. I have four little ones, eight and under and they can make big messes throughout the week, so we vacuum pretty often in our home. After each use, my floors feels clean and smooth each time. Having long hair too, was thinking that it would get caught in the bristles; but nope, it really doesn't catch any hair in the bristles at all. I researched for quite a while before settling on the V11. In every single review the V11 used the High Torque head. I didn't even realize another head was available on the V11 because I don't believe there ever was before. They do state what it is in the description but I doubt most people will notice, like I didn't. The problem with the Motorhead this version comes with is that it doesn't work on deep pile as well and it just pushes around larger debris on hard floors. It also doesn't have the holes on the side for edge cleaning. Aside from that, this works well. The amount of hair it pulled out of the carpet that my premium corded vacuum left behind is pretty remarkable. It's quiet and easy to use and comes with a lot of useful tools. The trigger is annoying, not because it's difficult or tiring to pull but because of the way it makes a lot of the vacuum weight rest on top of your finger. It gets uncomfortable after awhile. I would still recommend the V11, just not this version. I feel that Dyson putting a head on here from a couple of generations ago and calling it a sale is misleading.plmn

Bought it a few days ago and right away I put it to the test. —LONG REVIEW— First off, my old vacuum: Was using 7 year old corded vacuum that I had to dismantle (full dismantle with screwdrivers) a few times a year just to keep it running efficiently. It was cumbersome and heavy and I thought it was doing a thorough job. Was a hassle to clean the house with it. Compared to this vacuum, my old clunker was barely trying. The Dyson Animal V10: For the first clean I ran it hard, and I mean hard. It ran about 25 minutes on the highest setting, to be expected for the battery life. It pulled dirt, hair, dander… you name it it pulled it from the carpet. I just stood there shaking my head because I truly thought my last vacuum was cleaning as it pulled dirt too but, not like this. This Dyson is an efficiency king. The next run: I put it on the middle setting. Ran for about 40-45 min before it needed to rest/cooldown and recharge. In that time; I did the hardwood floors, kitchen, went back over the carpets, hallway, got the cobwebs out of the ceiling corners (couldn’t do that with my last vacuum!) and again…. The amount of dirt it pulled up! All the hard surface floors I was sweeping the traditional way first then vaccuming with my clunker and then having to go back behind it with a static collection pad on a swiffer then mop. You get the idea…. Long and tedious. A task I could do once a week. With this Dyson, it’s a daily spruce up now. Heck, it’s going to reduce the amount I mop simply because of how well it cleans the floors! I swear it polishes them from how the brushes are on the floor. After this clean: (cleaning the vacuum itself) I read the manual and decided to learn how to clean the vacuum and set to task. No screwdrivers needed. It’s easy to wipe out with a damp cloth, to clear the brushes with debris. All you need is a keyring, the metal ring itself to easily turn the dials on the two brush heads to release the brushes. The ease of cleaning the vacuum was not even comparable to my old one. The Dyson took me 10 minutes. Albeit I had to air out the filter after I rinsed it out which took a while. Just have to let that rest and I recommend having a fan blow air onto it so it dries faster. 3rd clean: Lowest setting, just a touch up. I thought I did an amazing job the past couple days but this thing surprised me still. The canister was halfway full of fur, dander, and things as I quickly took 15 min to do my house. This thing just can’t be beat. On the lowest setting, it was still able to show me that it was working hard. Even when the previous two days I put it to the test and thought there was no way there was anything left, this thing proved me wrong again. Battery didn’t even drop a bar on the display and it cleaned what my dog managed to shed the previous night. All in all: This thing is lightweight, easy to change attachments, and can’t be beat in its efficiency of dirt collection and disposal. It’s also easy to clean and take care of. After 3 days, my house is much cleaner. I do have to say though, this thing made me feel like I was living in filth and that I had never cleaned in my life. It put my Previous vacuum to absolute shame. All that time spent with my old one seems like wasted efforts compared to this Dyson beast. Alas; I have this thing now and sneezing less! Bonus: it’s much quieter! My dog doesn’t run from it anymore. He actually likes it! Con: one attachment I wish dyson would make for these, a hose attachment. Cause this thing would be amazing for cleaning out a car but it’s a bit bulky to get under seats. In fact, a hose would help for any tight spaces. Just hold the unit on one hand and clean with the other with whatever other attachment you need on the opposite end of the hose. So all in all, this vacuum is well worth the price. 5/5. The Good: The vacuum unit itself is exceptional, with excellent suction, ease of maintenance, run time, and insofar longevity; it competes well with your average full-sized canister vacuums, which is truly impressive given the size of the Dyson. The hype, on this front, is valid. The Bad: However, the well-built central unit is let down by tools and accessories with components made from fragile, heat-molded plastic. Essentially, only the mechanical drive components are made from metal (I think), but everything else is plastic. While Dyson boasts that the main machine body is made from "ABS Polycarbonate" (think: riot shields), the smaller components seem to be made of high-density polyethylene or similar material. Our smaller motorized head unit suffered a breakage in the head-to-guard joint, which should not be the case for a relatively new, seldom used part. The use of brittle plastic in such a high-wear area by the spinning rotor seems at best poor design, at worst planned obsolescence. I understand that full-metal construction is a thing of the past, but "full-plastic" construction is not a viable alternative; some components need to be metal, full stop. The Ugly: Unfortunately, warranty details are misleading as they apparently do not include the tools, and nowhere in the warranty documentation provided was there a distinction between "tools" and the "unit." While I understand that normal wear-and-tear is to be expected and therefore not covered by warranty, I am disappointed with the craftsmanship of a really expensive product that utilizes non-durable heat-molded plastic for high-stress areas, specifically around moving joints. The concern is that having both motorized head units break renders the unit unable to clean carpet or furniture fabric, reducing 90% of its utility, and will cost you ~$200 extra to purchase the new motorized heads. In closing; a great unit overall, but my confidence in the product is let down by the fragility of the core tools and some of the convenient language of the warranty provided. Either warranty everything you produce or make it clear that the warranty only applies to the literal vacuum itself.Marcus_W

My parents own the Animal+ and I recently bought the Absolute+ which both have the same motorhead so was already aware of the capabilities. I did have a faulty battery upon receiving my vacuum which was quickly resolved & a new battery was sent my way immediately. I think this is really a great one for carpet & hardwood floors (with the hard & soft brushes) and also nice for the sofa in the handheld smaller configuration.Akash

Our old vac. died and my husband has always wanted an upright vacuum cleaner. As he is the one who does most of the vacuuming I told him to buy whatever he wanted. We have always wanted to try a Dyson but the price was always too expensive. Myer had this one on a good special so we got it. We have 2 long haired big dogs who come inside regularly and of course leave fur behind on the carpet. We have carpet all through our house with tiles mainly in the wet areas. The vacuum cleaner is heavy but my husband finds it is not much harder to push than the old barrel vac. because of the powerful head. The suction is excellent and seems to suck up so much more dirt and fur than the old one. The power head is quite wide and does not easily get into some of the narrower spaces the old vac did. It has a very long power cord which is great but I do miss the an auto rewind feature. Moving from hard floors to carpet is no problem. This vac. does not have adjustable suction so on more delicate mats it is harder to use. A flexible extension hose is attached to the upright handle along with different floor tool attachments. It is able to be used for those more difficult to get to places. I found the flexible hose very strong and not particularly flexible, and tended to pull the vacuum over if used too roughly. This is my least liked part of the Dyson. The canister is fairly easy to empty though the dust does tend to cling inside due to static electricity and needs a strong shake/tap or something put into the canister to help dislodge all the dust. Time will tell as to its reliability.DebWy

I absolutely love this vacuum. The ONLY reason I gave 4 stars is because it’s heavy. I’ve had it for 10 years I feel like. This poor thing has been through the ringer and used for many things (some things I probably should’ve used a shop vac for 🤷🏼‍♀️)but has performed so well. I’ve YouTube’s and taken apart before to fix clogs and different things and I have to say it’s easy to work on. I just got it serviced for the first time ever and it was well overdue. This vacuum is by far the best vacuum I've ever owned. My boyfriend and I purchased this before we moved into a new apartment (ALL CARPET) back in May 2015. Our Kitty before moving was an outdoor cat and had to transition to being an indoor cat when we moved into our new place. The combination of our 1100 square foot apt and our now indoor cat caused quite a lot of dust/hair/dirt. I am very allergic to cats so this was quite the dilemma for me. Thankfully this vacuum does an amazing job at sucking up cat hair/dander/dust/dirt and sometimes even things you don't necessarily want to vacuum up. My vacuum and I were doing great once a week vacuuming up everything I desired…until it wasn't… The wand you use to vacuum stuff up has a few different attachments depending on what task is at hand. My task last August was to vacuum up all the excess cat litter/lint in our combo bathroom/cat bathroom/laundry room. All was going well until I stuck the wand in between the wall and the side of the dryer trying to make sure I got every piece of lint hair etc. All of a sudden I hear a noise where I could tell I vacuumed something bad up there and could tell the suction was being impaired.. Somehow I vacuumed a mini sized BIC lighter that got wedged in the middle of the vacuum wand. I literally tried every way I could think of to try to push it out. I tried sticking a long dowel down the tube to try to push it out which only broke my wooden dowel.. then I tried to lubricate it with some water/oil which also didn't work. Finally after two weeks of attempting to dislodge the lighter I broke down and bought a $20 replacement off Amazon and then proceeded to snap the busted lighter stuck in it one in half (took a number of attempts so clearly this is some well made plastic)molly.p

Super quick, So much easier than getting the broom, sweeping and hoping to get it all with the dustpan. It helps keep my floors so much cleaner. I love that I don't have to deal with a vacuum cord either. I actually keep my floors clean every day with this than if I was sweeping or using a traditional vacuum. I also love the attachments, it makes getting to harder to reach places easier. The clip/button to empty is a little hard to press at first, I felt like I was breaking it, but I confirmed with the directions I was emptying appropriately (I was) so I kept pushing and it worked. It also gets easier to empty the more you use it. I can't even tell that I have an older version for the price I paid. My mom has a newer version and this one stands up to it the same. I think the main difference I notice is emptying the canister but I'll take that for the price. I've also used this to vacuum my couch since we have a dog and cat who like to use that as their bed and it works like a charm to get the pet fur. I will keep this forever!tess.goeller

So for some reason I used to be against the expensive Dyson products. I even used an older corded vacuum that made me feel that I was correct in my assumption that they were way over priced. But after buying a Hoover corded, where it quickly failed with an irreplaceable battery. Followed that with a cheap corded version, ok but a pain with a cord. And then a cheap knockoff of the Dyson style that has very little suction, and now I broke down and bought a Dyson to try it because the price was right. First off these ARE better than the cheaper knock-offs. A lot more suction with these. And all the parts fit together better and smoother connecting and disconnecting. Coming from an engineering background I immediately noticed how so many little things had been done right. I am impressed. I hope it holds up. I have had my Dyson v7 for about two weeks now, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The size / weight / no cord / maneuverability is perfect for getting to every spot that my old vacuum could not reach. I can now vacuum under the bed, on the bookcases, the stairs, the HVAC air return, etc with ease – and it also works great in the car! The suction is good, and having a simple bag-less canister is great. The only issue I have is not with the machine, but with my choice of which Dyson version to purchase. My Dyson v7 works exactly (actually better than) as advertised, but sometimes 30 minutes of run time (which is what is advertised for the v7) is a little shy of what I need. This is not the fault of the vacuum, but I should have purchased a Dyson rated for 60 minutes (the v10 or v11.) Luckily the recharge cycle is not that long – so this is not too much of an issue. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recomend it to anyone who wants to make the task of vacuuming easier, faster, and more enjoyable.StevenS

My new place is a 2 bed/2 bath apartment with mostly hard floors and carpets in the bedroom. After going to Dyson’s website and taking their quiz. First, I have to suggest going through Dyson’s website to purchase and not through a 3rd party (Amazon, Target, etc). Dyson offers a price match, you are ensured a warranty, if you wish to get additional attachments, you can know you are getting the correct ones. Next, after know about what model and price point I needed, I was able to look at each machine and pick out the best that would work for me, my cleaning routine, and my home. My Dyson came with so many different attachments (included!!!) but the reason I chose this one was it had different heads for one for each type of flooring, carpet or hard floors. I can remove the wand to make the attachments handheld to clean my couch, add it and a soft bristle head to clean the walls and the top corners next to my ceiling. I could go on and on. This isn’t a vacuum… this has replaced so many different tools I used to clean and, above all, my favorite part, as new apartments can come some lingering bugs, I take the head off and can stay far enough away and still catch and dump the creepy-crawlies. It is my new bug killing machine. As I said, I could write a novel about how much I love this Dyson. It was worth every penny.heather.n

First of all; I have a DC33 for almost 10 years and it is still working excellent, I had repaired a minor cosmetic issue but this is a great tool from Dyson. I really appreciate the thoughtful design of these machines and everything that Dyson produces. This is an outstanding company. Now, we bought the V8 Absolute and we are even more impressed with such beautiful design, with such a great details and mostly with the efficiency of a Dyson. The quality of the VB-Absolute is visible and tangible; this is a great investment and a great tool to implement in our home. I got a V7 in Jan 2019. Initially, and for about 1.5 yrs., I thoroughly enjoyed it. Then my housecleaner told me a charge didn't last more than 10 mins. Because I have another plug-in vacuum, I didn't think much of it at the time. Then I hired another cleaner. She brought her own vacuum so it hasn't been used at all since Jan 2022. Just in the last week, I tried to use it and it only lasted about 30 seconds. I had a very good experience with the website and service person on the phone but I have been advised that a new battery is necessary. If that is correct, I must say that I am disappointed in Dyson. I expected better performance from their machine. For a machine that is 3 1/2 yrs. old and only used perhaps 2 years of that (and not solely because I have another machine), I think the battery should last longer. And, if the cost of the battery is 1/4 of the price of the machine, I think that is even more disappointing. And, it's the cost of the battery + shipping. My carpenter husband has battery powered tools, uses them consistently and has never had to replace a battery. That knowledge doesn't help me. Is it possible that the charging station is defective? At any rate, as much as I loved it in the beginning, I'm pretty unhappy at present. I recommended my vacuum to lots of friends at first but now, I would have to tell them the whole story and what to expect.Bren

Super quick, So much easier than getting the broom, sweeping and hoping to get it all with the dustpan. It helps keep my floors so much cleaner. I love that I don't have to deal with a vacuum cord either. I actually keep my floors clean every day with this than if I was sweeping or using a traditional vacuum. I also love the attachments, it makes getting to harder to reach places easier. The clip/button to empty is a little hard to press at first, I felt like I was breaking it, but I confirmed with the directions I was emptying appropriately (I was) so I kept pushing and it worked. It also gets easier to empty the more you use it. I can't even tell that I have an older version for the price I paid. My mom has a newer version and this one stands up to it the same. I think the main difference I notice is emptying the canister but I'll take that for the price. I've also used this to vacuum my couch since we have a dog and cat who like to use that as their bed and it works like a charm to get the pet fur. I will keep this forever!tess.goeller

So for some reason I used to be against the expensive Dyson products. I even used an older corded vacuum that made me feel that I was correct in my assumption that they were way over priced. But after buying a Hoover corded, where it quickly failed with an irreplaceable battery. Followed that with a cheap corded version, ok but a pain with a cord. And then a cheap knockoff of the Dyson style that has very little suction, and now I broke down and bought a Dyson to try it because the price was right. First off these ARE better than the cheaper knock-offs. A lot more suction with these. And all the parts fit together better and smoother connecting and disconnecting. Coming from an engineering background I immediately noticed how so many little things had been done right. I am impressed. I hope it holds up. If I had bought a Dyson in the first place I could have purchased the most expensive version for what I spent on all the others.aruba4me2

I have had my Dyson v7 for about two weeks now, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The size / weight / no cord / maneuverability is perfect for getting to every spot that my old vacuum could not reach. I can now vacuum under the bed, on the bookcases, the stairs, the HVAC air return, etc with ease – and it also works great in the car! The suction is good, and having a simple bag-less canister is great. The only issue I have is not with the machine, but with my choice of which Dyson version to purchase. My Dyson v7 works exactly (actually better than) as advertised, but sometimes 30 minutes of run time (which is what is advertised for the v7) is a little shy of what I need. This is not the fault of the vacuum, but I should have purchased a Dyson rated for 60 minutes (the v10 or v11.) Luckily the recharge cycle is not that long – so this is not too much of an issue. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and would recomend it to anyone who wants to make the task of vacuuming easier, faster, and more enjoyable.StevenS

I am so upset and disappointed with the DC50. I had no idea such a well known and well respected firm such as Dyson could produce a vacuum that won't move on carpet. My parents have had Dysons since they came out and always loved them. I saw this one and though ideal size for my house, lightweight, brilliant. Stupidly impulse bought before looking up reviews online. Now I see its a common problem. Our carpet is medium pile, yet the vacuum initially is hard to push and I mean really hard, then the rotating brush just stops working which makes it practically impossible to push. I press the button to get the rotating brush going again, one push and it stops. Its not a fault with the machine because a lot of other people complain about this issue. I just can't believe theres a vacuum on the market that won't work on carpet. I now feel stuck with a very expensive mistake. One plus though, I cannot fault the suction (probably why its so hard to push) but the tiny bit of the living room I managed to do before slumping and crying because I wasted so much money, it sucked up loads of bits and dog hair that our old vacuum had completely missed.lynsmith

Although, it pains me somewhat to write a review on a vacuum cleaner, the Dyson range is clearly noteworthy…. and then some! I have been a proponent of the Dyson range for over 20 years; I continue to be a ardent supporter and the Dyson Small Ball Multi Floor vacuum is no exception. I have, today, retired a long-serving (7 years) DC12 – with full honours! It served us extremely well (until yesterday, when it sadly gave up the ghost). Although I was completely satisfied with the retiree's performance; but, we had not appreciated how tired it had become. A 4-bed house, 2 teenagers, 2 dogs and recent new carpets. The "new kid on the block" has hit the carpets running. We had new carpets a year ago and today's first outing for the Small Ball has been first class; visibly discernible results. Outstanding suction, reduced noise and effortless to manoeuvre around the house. Thank you to the Dyson team for delivering another absolutely first class cleaning product! See you again in 6-8 years – hopefully not before (for the rights reasons).MAV1967

Having used this vacuum over the Christmas and New Year break when all the family and their dogs descend onto us, in excess of 5 Labradors, I can truly give the Dyson Small Ball 5 stars. On a daily basis it copes with the fallout of my 3 dogs and messy husband and although the dust bin is small and fills quickly I can only assume this is because it is so efficient, my carpets and rugs look way cleaner and it adjusts from hard to soft surfaces with ease. The compact and neat design of this machine has many advantages, the first being storage, I like my cleaner to be available but not in the way, this little beauty can be popped into a cupboard or even tucked away behind a sofa or armchair! (my little trick) With the retractable handle it folds down into a small unit and in a small house would be an ideal choice. The cleaning properties of the Small Ball are improved by the smaller brush head, it gets into little spaces easily and the wand features are amazing, the vacuum is well balanced and does not fall over when you are catching cobwebs, so much better with the tools on-board, nothing gets lost. With regard to the small dust bin, I found this a positive feature as you have to empty it on a regular basis thus avoiding the musty smells that can arise when the dirt is left in the bin to fester for a couple of weeks! You need to take the bin apart to empty it thoroughly if like me you have animals, as the hair shoots up the canister and can wedge in the top, but it's easy to do as long as you are not heavy handed. The Small Ball is an all round great machine, it easily copes with a large, messy house and I can highly recommend it.Mamabaz
