I used to LOVE this edge control gel as it provided a firm hold for my edges with no flaking or heaviness. Prior to changing the formula, it was also the only edge control gel on the market that truly provided a firm and lasting hold for my edges. Unfortunately, since the formula has changed, I can no longer use this edge gel because it provides no control for my edges, and it leaves my hair feeling greasy. Whereas, I could previously go all day with my edges laid, now I can’t even go an hour with this new formula. As soon as I dipped my finger in this new formula, I could tell that it didn’t have the same level of tackiness as did the old formula. I pop the top and use my edge control brush to swoop the edges into my braids. The I tie it down with my scarf until i am ready to go so it last for a while. You should definitely try this! I love this edge control. For the price, I can say that the value of this product is high. I use this product on my edges only. I have 4A/4B hair. I use the product in combination with eco styler olive oil gel. I put the eco styler olive oil down first (small amount only on edges). Then I brush my edges. Once I brush my edges, I put this edge control on and slick my edges as desired. I get all day hold with this combination. I will say you may get white build up. It is a sticky product. It also can be drying. I would not use this every day because it builds up and can dry hair. But, if you have an event or are going out in the town, your edges will be laid ALL night. This is why I keep this product in my staple collection ! The hold for this product is bomb.
I've been searching for a edge tamer that actually works and this one does not meet the bill. I'm natural with 3c/4a hair and purchased this some time ago but it's never worked. It smells wonderful but the texture is super dry yet sticky/waxy and due to the thick texture, it's easy to apply too much. Whether I've applied too much in error or a light layer, it doesn't hold my edges. After slicking my hair down with a brush my hair puffs up and no longer matches the flat ironed rest of my hair. I Sooooo wanted to give this product a 10 out of 10 however, the reason I purchased it for did the opposite of what I needed. I wanted an amazing edge control that WOULD NOT TURN WHITE OR FLAKE and guess what? BOMB!!!! I've been on the search for an edge gel that can lay my 3C/4A edges down for more than a couple of minutes. This is literally the ONLY edge gel I've ever used where my edges were laid ALL day long without feeling too hard or dry to the point you can tell it will break-off your edges with continued use. I did my usual routine of styling my edges…than I tied a scarf over them while they were drying and waited like 10 minutes before untying the scarf. Of course…when you first use an edge gel it looks good until like an hour later. Not with this product!!! When Ebin says this is a 24 Hour Edge Tamer…they mean it. I used this product in the morning…it's almost 8pm and my edges are still laid. Plus this product doesn't leave any gross white residue…which is so disrespectful, how are you going to have bomb edges with a white cast??? Not possible. When I first started using this product I was amazed. It works so well and smells delightful. This lays my edges so well and they stay in place all day, even in the Louisiana heat and humidity. The only issue I have started to experience when laying my edges while wearing passion twist, is a build up of the product. This causes it to turn white and I am unsure if this is a reaction due to the oils I put on my twist, but I did not have this problem using this product with my wash-n- go's.tierra.b
