So I bought both the bedhead at retail price and the Drybar blow dryer brush, on sale and mostly with points. Full disclosure, I only paid $60 for the drybar, so it wasn't a huge loss to experiment with which I like. Here are my thoughts: Bedhead wins on price for sure, though since I only paid like $60 for the drybar one I'm going to keep it because it's not *that* much more expensive and I'm curious as far as lasting, which one will keep up through time (which is TBD obvi) Drybar wins on handle comfort. It's much smaller in diameter both in the brush and the handle than the bed head, which makes it much less heavy and comfortable to hold. I also love the square tip because it makes it super easy to notice by feel if I'm losing the angle I want. They both have only two heat settings and a cool function, but here's where things get strange. I feel like the drybar is the same hotness, but it made my hair much frizzier the first time I used it than the bedhead. Like super frizzy! The second time I used it I switched to the lower setting when I was near my roots which helped, but makes it annoying to keep flipping between. Temp wise they feel the same, but I think drybar blows harder on high which is causing the frizz. So for blow power and heat drybar was higher but bedhead wins because more power isn't necessarily better, like standing in front of a jet engine might dry my hair fast but it'd be a mess lol They also both dried my hair in the same amount of time, even with the more power of the drybar, probably because I had to switch to low so often to avoid frizz. So they tie here as far as time (about 8 minutes total). I also think even though the handle was more comfortable with drybar, my hair got stuck in it a few times and that was so annoying. It's never happened with the bedhead and I think it's because it's wider. Overall I give bedhead an 8, room for improvement in the handle design and adding the square to the top sounds stupid but when I can feel it level in the back it makes it so much easier. Drybar I'd like less power and a wider design to avoid hair pulling and frizzing. And the retail cost is definitely not worth it to me so that brings it to a 6. Hope this helps someone in making a decision!Jenn
I have tried other more expensive name brand hot air brushes. They didn’t work as good as this Bed Head. This is the best for my thick course frizzy hair. Tourmaline does not dry out hair. I wanted a very hot, 3” oval barrel, high wattage. Some may need extra care to get used to but it’s manageable. Dries hair quickly, with salon like finish. Smooths hair. No snagging or tangling. I use no other hair tools. Not louder than other dryers. Use ear plugs if sensitive. I would definitely buy this dryer again. Hope it doesn’t burn out for awhile anyway. Definitely worth it, price, for quality of hair tool. Works better than expected and better than more expensive tools.Carole
First off my fault for not reading this was oval. It's about 4 1/2" from bristle tip to bristle tip on the wide side and 3" on the other. The barrel itself seems to be 3" X 1 3/4". The handle is kind of big too and my hand cramps when holding it. As far as loudness goes, it's not bad. I would say typical hair dryer. This did not give my hair the fullness I was expecting and got from my old round brush hair dryer. I can see where it would be better for long hair or for people looking for something to straighten there hair while drying. As now I've opened and used it I will keep trying to make it work, but for my fine, straight, somewhat short hair, I am not impressed.Unimpressed

I bought this for myself after getting my hair cut and thinned because I have so much hair and it is very thick. I bought it thinking that I would be able to dry me hair with it after it was washed. I will be returning exchanging it for a dyson one tomorrow. While using it today, it did provide hot air and some what dry my hair but I had to do it in little sections and there was no power behind the hot air like what you would get with a dryer. While I wasn’t expecting it to be as powerful, I was expecting it to provide some force behind it to help dry the hair and it just wasn’t there. Also once I was done I noticed that some of the bristles had fallen out into the sink during use. And it also made my hair more frizzy than what it would have been with a hair dryer and regular brush.
Shipping was quick. Using it everyday. Helps smooth out my slightly curly, frizzy hair without the use of a harsh curling iron. Still use an iron for touch ups & a regular hair dryer at my roots because the air flow out is not hot enough or strong enough to reach my roots. The air flow is gentle enough I can touch the barrel as I brush through my hair & the air flow is warm enough to straighten but not so hot that it burns my skin. I look forward to using this in the morning because the airflow feels snuggly warm. Might be weird to say that, but it makes me want to use it. I feel like this gives my hair more volume also. Only down side is the slider button which turns it on. It's easy to slide the button all the way up or down but a pain to slide to a middle (hot) setting. I don't use the cool setting at the top, just the hot setting in the middle so I wrestle every morning trying to get to a hot setting. Needs a bigger button projection or finger grip.amy9191998
I bought this today to replace a similar John Freida brush, that I loved, that died after 5 years of use. First, let me say that I have long, thick hair that reaches mid back and this blow dryer brush performed as well as my old John Freida. That said, you cannot expect this to dry your hair efficiently if your hair is soaking wet – it simply doesn’t work that way. First, take a regular blow dryer to your hair first and dry until your hair is damp, not dripping. Then part your hair into sections and use this blow dryer brush to dry and style the rest. I timed myself and my total drying time from start to finish was 15 min and that includes using the regular blow dryer. Remember my hair is long and thick so 15 min total for me is perfect. My hair comes out nice and silky and looks like a salon blow out. Very happy with this and hoping it will last me as long as my previous blow dryer brush! Great value!!! If you cannot afford the Dyson air wrap , this brush can basically give you the same results for less than $20. It works best on dry hair or at least 80-90% dry so to prevent extra heat damage. Yes, the hair gets tangled. The directions say: “Release curls by placing the finger of one hand on the cool tip and pressing the rotate barrel button with the other hand. Be sure to let the cool tip rotate while you press the button.” This gave me the impression that the barrel rotates. Silly me. The barrel did not rotate. I called the company and was told that it does not rotate, but it just loosens and lets you pull the brush out. It does NOT loosen. It actually pulls out any curt and lift that I managed to get in. It does not seem to have much drying power. The barrel gets hot, but there isn’t enough air blowing to dry my hair. My old 300W Conair does a much better job but the barrel is too big for my newly shortened hair. I’d still be using it if the smaller brush hadn’t gotten lost in my recent move. Since I bought the Revlon for the smaller brush rotating brush, it's going back today. Additionally, the Revlon Perfect Heat 300W Hot Air Styler and Dryer is marked 500W. Even more than other heated hair styling tools, your success with this one will depend on what type of hair you have and what your expectations are when styling your hair. My hair is neither curly nor straight, just mildly poofy and a bit frizzy – without heat, it falls into a weird unattractive pageboy type style so on days I don't style my hair with a heated tool, I pull it into a ponytail. Using the heated straightening brush styles my hair just barely enough that I can avoid a ponytail and wear my shoulder length hair down without being annoyed by it every time I pass a mirror. And that is enough for me to be happy with the brush and continue using it; it definitely fills a previously empty spot in my arsenal of heating styling tools as most days I'm not going to bother with a flat iron or heated rollers. I took off one star because the brush handle is awkward and my fingers land on the buttons too often; also it is a bit too heavy. Another negative – it drags though my hair less than smoothly. I have a great flat iron but it will only take small amount of hair to straighten. Since this brush is longer , you can put more hair in it to straighten. I did find it works best on second day hair. Right after I washed my hair after blow out , I felt the straightening brush made my ends frizzy. Flat iron works better on just washed hair. I will keep the Revlon product since it's not expensive. Good but snags hair. I’ve been growing out bleached hair. So there is some breakage. I use a heat protection spray then do small sections making my way up my head. On the breakage areas, I definitely feel this straightening brush tug. Even when I detangle sections first, it still snags. I’m hoping with time it won’t be as bad, as it was my first use. Next time, I plan on taking super thin sections in the bad areas and going slow and gentle. Now that I know what to expect, it should go better. Great styling tool though. I have weird hair. Its straight for the first couple inches and then wants to curl for another couple inches (my hair is around shoulder length) and I needed something that would give me so control. I didn't want to use a straightener everyday and I wanted to try one of these brushes. Its heats up super fast and I can lightly place my hand over the entire brush without burning myself. I have thinner hair and I can usually go over my head in 3 or 4 swipes total (no really). it does its job. This will not give you the paper straight hair that a straightener will give you since you're not pressing your hair between two plates but it does straighten out your hair if you want something that looks more "natural". This is one of the cheapest options I could find for a "brush straightener" but I wanted to give it a try before investing in a more expensive one but I'm gonna keep this one for awhile.Kasey

So I bought this because I work in healthcare. I take showers at night and sometimes go to bed with wet hair. When I wake in the morning to put my hair up, it's a frizzy mess and then I put it in the worlds ugliest bun. No time to straighten it out for the frizz control. My first impression of this was that it is very convenient to use when you are running on a little bit of time to get ready. You have to run this brush slowly through your hair to get a nice result and you do have to pass it through a couple of times. My only complaint is that there wasn’t a protective glove of some sort because it does burn your hand while trying to brush through. So a tip would be brush and pass through with a comb. It’s hard getting close to the roots and the results are NOT pin straight. It does get rid of the frizz and as for the shine I never paid attention because my hair gets oily so I don’t know if it’s the shine comes from using the brush or not. I do recommend this product but keep in mind that this is for a quick de-frizzing straighten!
I came across this in my store on clearance for $10 and instantly thought of my 9 year old daughter who actually mentioned how frizzy her hair was a couple days earlier. I figured for $10 why not, the least I could do is return it if it didn't work! I was totally skeptical on this product. Because I got it for free using my score reward points from my bank. I own several different straighteners but none of them have really been able to straighten my hair. There is usually some type of a wave still left in my hair after straightening no matter how I straighten it. I have very curly hair. After receive my free straightener I decided to use it after washing my hair. Totally amazed with this product, I love this product after one use my hair is perfectly straight there are no waves left in my hair after using this. The only downfall to this is that the top part of the handle does get a little hot after holding it for a few minutes but other than that this is a perfect hair straightener. Hopefully someone finds this and actually reads it so I can save them from this product. Day one: I open it and immediately want to use it. I plug it up and wait about 30 seconds (fully heats in 30 seconds). Go to curl my hair… and the bristles pull my hair and tangle it into the brush. i spend 45 minutes with my boyfriend putting butter and olive oil in my hair to get this thing off of me. Had to tear my hair from the curler to get it out. ( Now keep in mind my hair is very healthy, shiny, and soft. Not dry, crispy, or frizzy) (I am also very good at curling hair.) I put it away. I was scalped when I had my last haircut. Trying to use standard standard curling iron caused me to barbecue my head. Still have scar on my forehead. Saw a similar iron on TV that costs many times more. This one does the same thing doesn't blow your beauty budget. Hate to pay more than I have to. Plastic teeth make a great difference. As a 3c natural hair girl, I am always looking for fun products to straighten my hair and give it some curls that aren't as tight as my natural ones. I was very excited to try this out when I saw it included a round brush. First of all, the space between the two plates isn't very wide, and I am used to it being wide as it is on my other flat irons. That threw me off a little bit. Second, there is nothing that allows you to change the heat setting and because my hair is course, it requires a little more heat to get it straight. With this iron, I was only able to get a sort of puffy straight hair with some frizzy curls. I really liked the easy to use round brush though. I usually don't use one myself when I'm doing my hair, but this one went through easily. I did have a little bit of trouble with making a curl with the brush part at first, but I eventually got it. Also, it takes a little while to heat up. I think this is a good product, maybe just not for my hair type. I would recommend it to friends that have looser hair types. When I received this tool I was a little skeptical with the 4 in 1 feature but after daily use, I will say that I prefer this one to the Amika Strand Perfect Ceramic Styler that I received in my FabFitFun box and now I use the Instyler Max daily. I like to wash my hair every other day and what I really like about the Instyler is that it really does add volume when you place it under your hair close to the roots like the instructions say. It's great for me because My hair loses its volume easily. I also really like the lights that turn on, and how quickly it heats up. I have used this as a strighener and as a volumizer. I have not tired to curl my hair as I usually wear it straight. It straightens quickly and it keeps my hair feeling smooth and soft. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that because it's not very thin, it's hard to straighten the baby hairs around my face and that's very important to me. I purchased the Chi ceramic hotbrush after seeing my coworker's hair. After complementing her hair, she explained she went to bed at night with a wet head and woke up in the morning, brushed her hair with the straightener, and thats it. She showed me before pictures of her hair without use of the straightening brush and was astonished. She used a different brand but said its important not to buy the cheap straightener, so I purchased the Chi since it was on sale and everytime I use it, i get compliments on my hair.
This brush does straighten the hair, if it can grab it. I have thin hair and need to hold onto the ends so the hair will make constant contact with the brush. Also, need to section the hair just you would to use a straight iron. No time saving and actually less efficient than a regular straightening iron. I have wavy hair, and let's just say it was still partially wavy. It does not get close enough to the root, and your ends really don't get straight either. I have been pleasantly surprised by this smoothing hot brush. I have very straight, fine hair, but quite a bit of it. I usually run a flat iron over it to smooth it, but with this brush, I can skip the flat iron. It takes some practice to get the ends of the hair through the brush but once you find your technique, it's super easy! The brush heats up super fast and has three settings ranging from 356 to 400 (yeah…not 350…but 356 it says in the paperwork). My hair looks a little fuller using this brush since it doesn't flatten as much as the flat iron…if that makes sense. I'm a fan!Cassie

As someone who has curly and thick hair, straightening it is the hardest part of getting ready even if I dried it with my blow drier before and it isn't as curly as it normally is. I bought this today when it caught my eye as I was leaving. I have been curious about these kinds of straighteners ever since that first video went viral. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it worked. Two or three passes done correctly and done! You do have to section your hair especially if it's thick but it leaves your hair much nicer than if you used a regular flat iron. Doesn't pull out that much hair, maybe three or four strands here or there, nothing you wouldn't lose with a flat iron. Doesn't take that long to heat up but follow the instructions for your hair type. All around a great product if you count in that it does the same thing those $80 or $90 brush straighteners do for a lower price. As with anything, following the instructions is key. Not recommend for oily hair and you CANNOT use any type of heat protector or any products (heat safe or not) in your hair with ANY of these straightening brushes on the current market. Trust me, I've tried all from the cheap brands to the expensive and they all work GREAT and last awhile when you DON'T add products or have very oily hair because they leave a residue that is very hard if not impossible to fully clean off these things! Even if it looks clean it's still there! its a problem because then after use 2,3,4 etc times it smells, burns and causes it to overheat and damage your hair. The whole point of this is to do little to no damage to your hair but still have similar results that of a flat iron. It also doesn't get down to the roots of curly/very curly hair or thick. Hair tools are one key thing when trying to grow or manage your hair, the wrong tools can hinder most of the progress you are seeking to make. Now if you have soft silky hair, hair management is so easy peasy for you. Great for you, we love you too but we with thick or coarse hair want at the very least to have worthy tools for our battle with the hair. Being black, I have very thick tight;y curled hair, so straightening it takes hours. The thought of just running a brush through my hair and having it all straightened is so drool worthy. The only down side is the limit of its temp setting, if it could go higher, meaning faster straightening for really curly hair. It took some time but it did straighten my hair, without me spending back breaking hours, sectioning and straightening my hair. All it took was slow even brush strokes, through my mane and little by little I saw it straightening my tightly curled hair. Another flaw for me is in its design, that being the position of the control buttons. The buttons being by the side on the grip handle, means that every time you apply pressure to drag the brush through thick hair your fingers will be hitting the controls. messing with the temp settings. With that being said this is worth the buy. This brush has been a worthy addition to my arsenal, its design and function means better control over the mane. Trust me taming the 'Fro' is no easy task and any brush that can tangle with mine and not limp out a broken sordid mess is worth a mention. My hair is "rebel" and I have a looot, usually with a normal hair dryer it will take me around 45-50 min, with this brush it took me around 25-30 min, depends how you want the final result. When a friend said she was getting her sister one for Xmas, a light bulb went off in my head: I should try one! When I saw how reasonably priced they are @ Walmart.com, I thought what's to lose? Glad I tried it, it works great. This smaller diameter is perfect for my very short hair. I just roll it through my hair like a round brush, to pick up a section ( without using comb or my fingers to help) and roll it, hold and pull it out, move to another area. Wonderful! Does just what I wanted: a lot of body/thicker feeling hair and not as stick straight looking but not 'curled' looking. Fast & easy. The unit appears like good quality so I'm expecting it to last. Conair is a name that's been around for a while and I've owned their products in the past.

I’ve been very impressed with my flexibrush steam. I have quite limp & fine hair that tends to not hold very well. The flexibrush has worked great, it adds volume to my hair which lasts for the day & is very easy to use.
