20 Best Electric Razor For Acne (Feb 2023 Update)

This is my second one blade so the fact that I ordered another one says it all! As someone with very sensitive, acne and in grown hair prone skin I was never able to shave using the traditional razor and shaving cream method. I have tried out many hand held razors from cheap to very expensive but none of them lasted more than a few months never mind an entire year. I saw the one blade at my local pharmacy and decided to try it as I’ve had decent success with norelco in the past. This was the shaver I’ve needed and wanted all my life! The flat head design ensures stability while shaving and also makes it incredibly easy to shape my beard, side burns etc. What I love the most about the one blade is that it shaves the skin pretty much as close as a regular razor without the “side effects” of a traditional razor. No longer do I suffer with acne, razor bumps or irritation after shaving. This new one blade greatly improves upon the first iteration in the design of the guides and charging stand. The first one had individual length guides that didn’t really stay on that well and no charging base. I love the design of this new model because the guide stays on even while trimming the jawline and the lcd screen shows how much charge is left. For how small this thing is it has always held a charge very well. I shave about every week-ish and a full charge lasts about a month depending on how much I shave. The disposable heads last a long time as well given I tidy-up the thicker hair of the torso and below the belt, using a separate blade of course. My first one blade has lasted me over 3 years and it would probably still work if I didn’t drop it so much. To sum up my review, if anyone has had the same issues as I have using a traditional razor than I implore you to give this a try! Your skin will thank you!JNYC

I have always struggled with shavers, I am fair haired and my beard grows slowly so I usually go clean shaven but recently I have tried some different lengths of beard. With this Oneblade Pro I can manage the length easily, the guard comes with an adjustable comb so you can set it between 0.5 and 10mm, the best bit about that is it adjusts so simply with a turn of the wheel, the numbers are nice and clear so it's easy to set where you want it and it also doesn't move while shaving so you get a good even shave. I have attached a couple of photos, when I heard I was getting this I let my beard grow out so it was pretty long and untamed, for the first try I basically took it all off with a combination of using the guard and then removing it for a smooth finish, you can see the difference and it was an effortless shave no fuss and a nice smooth face. Battery life wise it's great so far, charged up once, used every day for a week and it's still going strong, I am guessing it will need charging soon but I can't complain at all. It is comfortable in the hand and us really sinple to use, the rotating head makes shaving so easy and it follows the contours of your face very well. It.comes with an extra blade for body shaving which I haven't used yet but its good to have the option. It comes with a standard 2 pin shaving plug for the bathroom socket and the lead is long enough to not cause any issues. It's much better for me than having to use a beard trimmer if I want to have some decent stubble and have a separate razor for when I want to be clean shaved, this does both really well and I would recommend it to anyone.Mooseman34

I will start this review by saying that I've exclusively used electric razors basically since I discovered what they were after I started shaving. I've used many different types and qualities over the years to varying levels of success. Unfortunately, the Philips Norelco Oneblade Pro fails to live up to the hype. In concept, the idea is interesting and unique, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. To start, the blade touts itself as being able to handle all lengths of hair, and I had gone almost 2 weeks without a shave (which is uncommon for me) so I figured what better way to test it. I tend to shave my neck clean and leave a bit of a 2-3 day shadow on my face so that's what I aimed for. While it accomplished this task, it was much more difficult and took much longer than my traditional method. I started with clean saving using the Oneblade without the guard on it, and it does well enough, although since it only cuts along the top and bottom edges, I found covering large flat areas to be a bit of an interesting experience. Since it doesn't cut directly under the flat middle part of the blade, you have to be sure there is room to move the blade up and down around it without cutting hair you don't want cut. The angle of the blade on the base does not lend itself to this experience. Trying to angle it without flipping it over is nearly impossible, and flipping it over means the teeth of the blade are directly against your skin. Fortunately the rounded edges do save you from any terrible mishaps, but it still does not lend itself to a very easy shaving experience. Once I finished the clean shaven portion of my neck, I attached the comb and set it to '3' (which I imagine is something akin to 3mm of my old Philips Norelco comb. It does manage to keep a consistent 3mm cut throughout, but it's like taking a weed-eater to a full yard of 5ft weeds. Yes, it CAN do it, but it does not do it well. As the blades cut the hair, it would just pile up and jam into the top of the comb until the comb and blades so full of hair they could no longer reach my face, and instead required me to remove the comb, tap out the hair and brush off the blades. The other strange thing about this design is that with the comb installed, only one of the two cutting edges is in use, which means if you only ever use it with the comb installed, or mostly use it with the comb installed, you will dull one side of the blade much sooner than the other. The blade cannot be flipped over to allow you a fresh cutting edge on the side that you use less. One thing I will mentioned about this, is that it is more comfortable than any travel razor I've ever used. So for travel, I would choose it over most other options if you're not willing to pack a bigger or bulkier razor. Bottom line, It will accomplish what it set out to do, but unfortunately it does not do any of those things well. It's comfortable, if a little strange to use and does not nick or cut the skin even if you have to use it at strange angles. But for the same tasks there are better options.Beradon

I really love this shaver. After watching many positive review videos and my old shaver died, I bought this and am really impressed. You can shave with or without shaving gel/cream. The shaver gets close but not as close as other shavers, however it is more than close enough for a professional work environment. The biggest plus is that it is extremely safe, and I have been using for over a month and not one skin irritation or nick. Works great on scalp for shaving head also. Is a little slower than shaving with a regular multiblade razor and not as close, but much safer and no shaving cream needed.MojoBBQ

This is the second OneBlade I have owned. As a stand alone, this is a good trimmer, especially for shorter length trimming. I like most of the new design, especially that the handle is slimmer with a better grip. However when compared to the last model, it falls short in allowable max trimming length and ease of adjustment. The reason is due to the rotating blade head. This new feature is not bad to have, though with the narrow blade, I've never felt the need for it. The rotation doesnt allow for a cap like the previous model, which had a simple dial to adjust length, all the way up to 9. This blade has an attachment which you need to rotate with your thumb. It's not the smoothest or easiest operation. It goes up to 5mm, which isn't bad for a face trimmer, but less than the previous. Overall, this is a solid trimmer which will get the job done well. I dont feel the blade rotation is better than an easier and longer guard adjustment.Jeremy O

This shaver is very impressive. I charged it for a couple hours and decided to give it a go on my 4 day stubble. It's worked like a dream, gives a very close shave almost as close at a razor, I was so impressed. I judge my razors based on how well i can get nice clean lines on my goatee and sideburns and this passed both tests! My goatee looks great and my sideburn lines are crisp and clean. Everything you need to keep your self groomed is included in this great little package. It's nice and compact and would be perfect to travel with. It's also rechargeable! i liked the design and the concept of the trimmer… and I realized before i bought it that i would have to spend money before i found out if it was any good. But such is life, and it does look pretty nifty. Searching reviews wasn’t doing any good, nor were review videos off youtube. Every video and review online is sponsored by Philips, and they’ve cornered the market. Every “review” sounds like a infomertial. You just can’t get an honest opinion. So screw it- i just bought one with trepidation.

It’s been a year since then, and here’s my opinion for what it’s worth. The Philips OneBlade is JUNK! To begin with, i shave my face AND head and do so regularly. However, with three days growth, the blade wasn’t able to make it all the way through without being replaced- straight out the box.

The kicker? It has a 3 month shelf life before it won’t charge enough for a shave. That’s right, i’m on number four because they quit charging. All of them. Even now, i’m headed to court in a suit and tie, and half my face is shaved. the other half has a weeks growth from a holiday. I look like an idiot.

Try googling “OneBlade won’t Charge” and watch a new world open up before you. Thousands of people also have this issue, not to mention blade life when they cost a fortune.

Nothin beats an all in one face shaver when you don’t have to go back and forth between different styles of razor's. Philips Norelco OneBlade 360 Face has precise accuracy and gets a very close shave! I love how close it gets without having to use a straight razor. The blade and head of the shaver runs close to the skin to catch the smallest hairs and leaves it baby soft. I was surprised at how well it did with only one pass and hands down will use this one for every shave. Phillips designed this product with shaving in mind and in my several uses, I have yet to see the normal cuts you would get with a regular razor. My favorite part is how the blades line up my beard so easily without frustration. The slim design is easy to see around and fits in a travel bag perfectly. The battery is long lasting and charges very quick. This took over the #1 spot in my shave routine and has been going strong for me without an issue. Phillips nailed this one!!!AudiDad88

First time I used Oneblade I was amazed. Still today I use it almost always over other 3 types of razor I have. Razor(5 blade), trim razor rechargeable, and electric 3 head rechargeable are the three. They all work fine but the Oneblade does the job so much better. This is one of those products that you hope the manufacture doesn't ever discontinue. It is like nothing I have tried before, until you try you will not understand. I know I should tell you how smooth it is, how close it cuts, how it never cuts you, and it is amazing ability to get those curved areas of the face as easy as anything. If you purchase it and you do not like it I give, well it is not my product. But the faith in it is that strong you could put your promise on the product. Price around $29 is the another reason you can come up with to cause any more delay. I will stop acting silly, seriously a great product. This is from a proud owner of one since spring 2022.Joey

I have a sensitive neck. The hair on my face grows down, like normal, but the hair on my neck grows upward. Its extremely annoying. The only thing that may be more annoying is trying to find a razor that doesnt turn my neck into a bloody, bumpy mess if I even think about shaving. It seemed like, for the longest time, my only options were to either A shave with special shaving cream + extremely hot water and hope for the best, or B become a literal neckbeard. Then I found this.Before the OneBlade, I was using Gillettes SkinGuard razor—which swears up and down that its for people with sensitive skin and razor bumps—and it does not hold a candle to the neck shave that I get from this thing. Ive spent about a month with this blade and so far it has been a delight to use. It cuts right down to the skin. No hot water, no replacing cartridges after like 3 uses, no shaving cream, no bumps, no nicks, and no blood.I have 2 gripes with this razor though, both regarding the power/battery. The first is that the battery must be nearly full in order to get a shave of this magnitude. Not a deal-breaker, but somewhat obnoxious. A replaceable battery would be lovely.The second is that there is no battery indicator. It would be nice to know how much charge is left because I dont like leaving things plugged in all the time. Plus, sometimes I find myself needing to shave in a hurry only to find out that the battery is nearly dead and I wont have the pleasure of a smooth neck. Again, a replaceable/second battery would be lovely.Otherwise, this thing is a lifesaver and I highly recommend it if youre also plagued by this strange neck-hair-opposite-direction-growing-phenomenon.Also, to help settle the debate, it works great on other body parts. After looking around at trimmers and razer combinations, this item seems to be highly regarded amongst its buying public audience. With 60,279 ratings, 76% 5 star ratings and 14% 4 star ratings, that a 90% approval rating to me.Ive never ventured into the electric shaver market before and i really was only looking for a nice trimmer for my beard, moustacheand side burns since i cant let go of the 70s and still rock the mutton chop side burns. Out of the box, it took me a few tries to get used to using the shaving portion of this shaver. you have to apply a moderate amount of pressure for it to shave but dont expect a HAND HELD BIC shaver experience. it gives a nice shave but not a bic razer shave. where this product shines is its ability to cut/trim thru thick hair and to help shape side burns perfectly. i even used it to shave off the short hair on my head because i like rocking that Dwayne the ROCK Johnson or Vin Diesel Im going bald and hide it by shaving my head look. the afore mentioned hair was maybe 2-3 inch in length in most places i didnt have a balding patch. i was gleefully surprised to see how easily the war against the balding patches was won. Take that Balding patches, you wont beat me now i have the nuclear option in my steady hands! Again, the razor portion is good but it takes some time to get used to it if you never had an electric shaver before, thats not a fault of electric shavers in general. You shave against the grain. You can go both ways if you want. This is a great shaver as long as you do not expect a baby butt smooth shave. Battery life seems to hold true, it lasted the 45 minutes it took to shave my head no problem. i have left it off charge for a few days and it seem to hold charge very well. it comes with trimming comb attachments to handle height of trimming adjustments and a wall plug to charge the item. For the price point I’m satisfied with this purchase.I prefer not to mix the microbiomes of my head, face and genitals, so after some research I went with this device. Compared to clippers, it doesn’t cut swaths of hair as quickly and cleanly, the trade off is that it will cut much more closely than a pair of clippers. While capable of nicking the skin, it is much less prone to doing so compared to clippers.I tested it on my chest and abs with the green edge guard on. It cut the hair down to almost a 5 o clock shadow length. When viewed from any distance the skin looks shaved, which is fine for my needs. So far, so good. Next I used it on the bush, no trouble there. Went very carefully over the meat and potatoes because you never know, and it’s never fun to nick those areas. With my junk relatively smooth, it was on to the back door. Again, it exceeded my expectations and was easier to hold than clippers.After I was relatively smooth, I decided to try it with the guard off to see how smooth I could go without using too much pressure or force. With the guard off, I’d say it took the hair down to a true 5 o’clock shadow length, and smoothed out feeling of stubble when I ran my hands over my skin.With a greater sense of confidence I went back over parts of my junk to touch up some spots, and got a little lazy with my technique. Ngl, nicked myself in a couple of spots while shaving against the grain at the base of my D.Very minor and was due to sloppy technique rather than poor design of the blade. The hairs in that area tend to snag any time I shave against the grain. I finally went back over the bush area and was fairly aggressive with it since the skin surface is fairly flat. I received a Braun Series 9 Pro 9477cc Electric Shaver as a free sample from PINCHme for my honest review. This was my first foil-type electric razor I have ever used and I am continually impressed on how well it works after 3 weeks of use. It provides a close shave without irritation I often get from the rotary-type shavers I have used in the past. I have very coarse and thick facial hair and this cuts through very well. The product states it will shave through up to 7 days worth of growth, I could see that if you have finer or more sparse hair than I do, but as for my facial hair, I would say anything more than 4 or 5 days should be trimmed with the included trimmer rather that going right after the growth to avoid some uncomfortable pulling. The cleaning station is awesome and works great, no issues there. Manual cleaning is really easy as well, not having to worry about parts flying out while you do it like rotary shavers. The shaver seems well built and sturdy, we will see how it does long term. The charging case is a nice bonus if you need to bring it along for travel (it is a lithium battery so you may need to see if you can bring it with carry-on or not). There are many positives to be had here, I will point out a few negatives I have noticed. One is that you cannot use this while it is on the charger, as it is a safety feature since this can be used in wet applications (in shower or using shaving gel and creams. Really just a minor inconvenience, just need to remember to keep it charged up. The real major issue is the cost (not a real issue for me as I received it as a sample) looking around it typically retails for over $250+ depending on features. It works well and if you need to have a daily or every other day shave this would make sense, but if you only need to do a touch up here and there you would have to weigh if that cost is worth it to you. I bought the product before the charging case came out, I constantly see advertisements for the series 9 with the charging case. I have asked 2 times in replies if I can purchase the charging case separately. No one responded. Maybe I’ll get a response I had a series 7 prior to the series 9 for many years. The series 7 did not miss hairs like the series 9 does. Also, the cleaner will say it needs a new cartridge after the fluid is at ~50%. The prior cleaner used much more of the cartridge fluid before requiring a new cartridge which made cartridges last longer. I’m hoping that Gillette is not negatively impacting the customer experience to make a little bit more money on cartridges. Especially as I have been a loyal Braun user for many years. I even bought my sons Braun products. So, can I purchase the PowerCase Separately? Due to the high price and my general lack of satisfaction in the performance of the shaver and its cleaning stand. At this point I cannot recommend. If they improve the shaver head to not leave hairs and not pull hairs, I would recommend.Matthew T

I don't normally do this, but here goes… I bought this shaver after a little research. I wanted the best, and one that would last. When the series 9 arrived, I was blown away by the quality and closeness of the shave (though not so great performance on areas of my face with looser skin). The bother came, when after barely 2 months of use, taking care to clean and oil the shaver regularly, the cartridge stopped working. The cartridge which is supposed to last up to 18 months. I thought, "maybe this one was no good?" and ordered another cartridge (new) from ebay. Same. Thing. Happened. A month and a half in, cartridge fails while I'm on a business trip. So aggravating! I buy another one. Malfunction. That's $130 on cartridges within 5 months of purchase. I took a deeper look and saw that there were many reviews- Amazon, eBay, this website, product review websites- that all say the same thing! ***These cartridges are garbage*** Garbage attached to a wonderful machine. ***On top of them being of the poorest quality, they are nearly impossible to find, as this website does not sell, them, nor does anywhere in my vicinity (San Francisco, CA). They must be ordered online from a 3rd party.*** It's just shameful, Braun. Please do something to amend this product. It has been disappointing and frustrating to cope with the fact that I've now wasted $450+ on this shaver and it's useless cartridges, since it now sits sadly in a cabinet in the bathroom. 2 stars because despite the incredibly brief time that the cartridges work, it's great. Nothing worse than a company praying you don’t read the smaller text. I was unfortunate enough to buy in store to find out that the 100% waterproof is only for cleaning. Very annoying- but maybe passable if its use was good? Absolutely not. Took forever to get anything off my face which a normal razor could have done 3 times over in the time I tried to use this- and my face still isn’t properly shaven. I’d get a refund but I didn’t realize how truly bad this product would be Stick to shaving normally if possible or buy a better razor thats TRULY WATERPROOF if thats what you’re looking forCyrus

This is my first experience with a Braun razor. I wear a beard, but still need to keep my neck & cheeks nice and neat. I shaved with a hand razor for years, it was fine. I was interested in a foil razor, but wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep my definition lines on my face without destroying them. However, a friend of mine who also sports a beard has used a Braun for years, no issues. For the price I paid for this razor, I thought I'd try. Not sure why this little razor isn't getting more love, maybe people just don't know how to shave. It works darn good. I can shave closer & faster than I can with a blade, no irritation, and it does not destroy my beard lines. I can't imagine how good your expensive models shave, this little guy works well. Only wish I could use with a cord, but that's not a deal breaker. Don't ignore this razor!mike6000

There was nothing at all to dislike about this product. I found it to be an amazing piece of machinery. You see I have Parkinson's disease. It eventually became impossible for me to use standard blade razor because I could not twist my wrist to the angles needed to save the contours of my face at the jawline on the sides of my face. This razor is lightweight definitely waterproof and easily glides over all the contours of my face with its pivoting blades. Or I also like to point out that it was easy for me to hold because of the texture of the outside casing of the razor itself you see I have no strength in my hands either. I promise that this razor gives just as close a shave as a standard triple Blade razor.Philip

Another great rotary in Philips' lineup. This series does solve the issue of many complaints regarding the detachable trimmer and heads of other Philips shavers – it has the traditional flip-top head and pop-up trimmer. This adds to the bulk of the shaver, body and head, but precludes having to keep track of a separate trimmer and remove the head for cleaning, and it works reasonably well, although for me the trimmer isn't quite as effective as the SmartClick attachments for the Series 9000 shavers. The ComfortGlide Rings really are effective, and provide a frictionless shave, although in this model they are slightly larger than the Anti-Friction rings of the S7940 for example, and require some maneuvering to get around tight areas. The Quick Clean pods use the same cleaning solution as the SmartClean cartridges for the SmartClean stations, which is excellent for cleaning and lubricating the shaver. The Quick Clean Pod is unpowered however, and uses the shaver's power, reducing it by about 1 percent per cleaning, although on a positive note doesn't require cords or cables and is more compact – actually usable for travel. The GroomTribe app is the Achilles Heel of all these Bluetooth shavers, and in particular this model (S7782), because there's no information regarding this particular shaver – the app seems exclusively to recognize only the S7940 shaver. On the plus side, the S7782 will connect, and it does record the shaving time and the percentage of rotation (which improves shaving efficiency), although the motion sensor algorithm in the shaver appears not to recognize the correct rotational movement about half the time. The good news is you don't actually need the app, and this shaver has an LED screen that provides all the essential information about the shaver, including battery life, cleaning information and the previously mentioned inaccurate rotation statistics. The shaving heads (SH71/52) only have a single cutting ring, but actually are comfortable and provide a very close shave. Overall, an excellent rotary from Philips, that provides a close, comfortable shave, warts and all, with the potential to improve with software updates to the app. Recommended.S7782

The Norelco S7000 is a very great shaver and I do recommend this electric shaver to all men especially men with sensitive skin which I have and I’m 50 years old and I have been searching for a shaver electric or not and it will not make my neck red or razor bumps. The reason why I’m giving my purchase review is because it came with a defective battery it won’t hold a charge for that long as Norelco says that it should. So I contacted the manufacture and told them of this and they mailed me a replacement shaver of the same type and the replacement does hold a charge unlike the first one that I bought. And if you have sensitive scan on your neck and when you shave you get a red neck from a razor and bumps then you really need to buy either the S7000 or the S9000 cause I can shave dry and I get awesome results and no redness or bumps and you would want to get the electric Norelco shaver that you can clean it using a cleaning pod. I will never go back to razor’s ever again and when I have wore it out I will buy another one. I did buy the S9000 because it comes with double the blades but either electric shaver will give you a very smooth clean shave.Baylein

I grew up with and have used Norelco rotary shavers and body groom tools all my adult life. My old one, probably close to 20 years now, still works but there is no availability of replacement heads anymore and some wear finally. This is an excellent shaver and I am very happy I got it. I considered the 3000 and 5000 series, but 3000 seems to use lower end heads, and while the 5000 uses the same as this, the hard travel case is essential to me and purchased as a separate accessory brings the cost close enough that it was worth it to just get the higher end kit. The shave is great; I haven't yet tried out the cleaning pod. The shaver cleans very well under running water following the instructions. I also have some extras from my previous Philips/Norelco products that I use with this, such as combs, cleaning brushes and a spare charger.Chris_P

Purchased a Series 9 in January of 2022. I believe the manufacturer states that you should be able to get 18 months out of a blade (which are very expensive to replace). I started finding that my beard was taking longer and longer each day to get a good shave out of and as a result, the battery lasts me 5 days at best. This started to happen after about 4-5 months of use. It is difficult to get to the 6 months point without replacing the blade no less 18 months. Given that, it is a very expensive shaver to own and I am disappointed. My Braun series 5 performed much much better but it's been discontinued.stinger

I have used this shaver only twice. Both times dry, once after 3 days of not shaving, once after on day. Shaver is noisy, but the shave is smooth. After 3 days takes a long time. You have to passed on your face several times. If you shave couple of times a week this is not the right shaver. Don't cut the fine hairs on the neck. Curvature of the shaving head dose not allow to reach under the nose. But you can use the trimmer. Trimmer width is too narrow and too close to shaver head. This shaver is not for traveling. Cleaning part to bulky and cleaning solution can not be put in carrying case (TSA), so you need to carry a suite case and pay extra, unless you are travelling first class. No plastic cover for shaving head, but carrying case quite good and sturdy. A plastic cap can be produced in China for about 50 cents. Consumables. Require cleaning solution and lubricant oil. All extra expenses. This a good shaver, but not suitable if you travel and if you don't mind the bulky cleaning and consumable. They don't want to sell just a shaver, but also a steady income stream by selling consumable.Jeffj

I purchased this product about 2 months ago when my older 7000 series shaver finally gave out after more than 5 years. I had used a 3000 series before, and the 7000 was a great upgrade and provided a clean comfortable shave. I thought the 9000 series was an upgrade from the 7000, but apparently I was completely wrong. My first shave with this razor was extremely painful, pulling hairs constantly and also provided a much worse cut than my old 7000 series. After my first shave with it the very first response my wife gave me was "Why didn't you use the new shaver you just got?" That hurt almost as much as the shave. In any case, I decided it might just be the new style of shaver head and my beard/face needed time to "adapt" and gave it a while. After one month, no change, and today is the 2 month anniversary and I'm done with this razor. It still pulls multiple times every shave with just one day worth of hair growth, and I have to shave twice as long (at least) to get anywhere near the closeness of shave I get with my old 7000 series. I think part of the issue is the new foil design, specifically the gold cover which appears to have box holes that basically just grab and yank out hair, baffling design to me. In any case, I will warn everyone I know to stay very far away from this razor. If you happen to be unlucky and have one yourself, I'd urge you to upgrade to a 7000 series shave as you will find it works better than this razor in every way. Shaving in the morning shouldn't feel like punishment and having to suffer through constant yanks and burns, and that's all this razor provides. I've been shaving with Philips Norelco shavers for many decades and have had all the flagship shavers including the James Bond and the Smart Touch XL and currently own the AT830, 8900 series and the 9721 shaver with cleaning station. I tell you this so that you are aware that I know a thing or two about Philips shavers. I'll concentrate solely on the shaver itself since my previous review was declined. The shaver's handle is squarish and non-ergonomic making it difficult to hold for anyone (like myself) with arthritic hands. Unlike the Prestige or the older 9000 series (i.e. 9700 and 9300) that were contoured, this handle is simply long and uncomfortable to hold and maneuver. Secondly, the heads are squared off making it difficult to shave under the nose and under the sideburns and close to the ears. The only way to achieve even a modicum of closeness in these areas is to turn the shaver 90 degrees so that either side faces these areas because the sides of the head plates have less area from edge to combs/blades. While it is possible to achieve a reasonably close shave by doing this maneuver, it is not easy nor comfortable. This is, in my opinion, a design flaw that needs to be addressed by Philips. I could say more about my experience owning this shaver (I bought it; it was not part of a promotion) but I'd rather have this review okayed so that other potential buyers can be informed.westlaner

Philips 9000 I have been using Philips shavers for half a century now, and even when I have occasionally tried an alternative I always return to them. My previous shaver was the 9000 Prestige, so that is my main point of comparison, and I have been using this new model for two months so this review is more than an initial reaction. It improves on the Prestige in a number of respects, not least the charging method. I could never see the point of the ‘wireless’ charger of the Prestige, which itself had to be plugged in and was really quite large and unsuitable for travelling, leaving me once without its use when we were locked down abroad at the start of the pandemic and I had not taken the charger. This newer model has a much smaller wired charging stand which charges the shaver in about an hour, compared with the 3 hours the wireless one took. A full charge gives about 100 minutes of shaving which lasts me a little over 3 weeks. You can use it wet or dry, and I find I get a better shave using it wet with soap, but for a quick trim before maybe going out of an evening a dry run over is OK. Lights below the head indicate whether you are pressing too hard or too softly on your face, or just right. I soon found my pressure was OK and so switched this feature off, but it is useful to get started with. The cleaning station is an improvement over earlier Philips versions as it is independent of charging the shaver and does not itself need to be plugged in. Philips have returned to a flip out long hair trimmer on the back of the shaver, rather than having to replace the shaving head with a trimmer as with the Prestige. A weakness is that there is rather a lot of surround of the actual cutters on the shaving head, and this makes it difficult to get into tight places such as under the nose, so you have to use the trimmer to shave that area. Then there is the App. Well, I suppose everything has to have an App these days, so you can’t blame Philips for trying, but if they think I am going to stand in a steaming bathroom over a sink of hot water with a shaver in one hand and my phone in the other, well… But in the end this is a new model and not particularly cheap (depending on what offer you might get), so the main question has to be, does it give a better shave? The answer, for me at least, is yes, but only just. The 9000 Prestige was a quantum leap from its predecessor, and while this does improve on that, it is only marginal. But then that is the law of diminishing returns and Philips have now reached a point where improvements are incremental rather than game changing. I've had roughly the previous 5 generations of the top of the line Philips shavers so I feel I have some good experience when writing this review. I did NOT buy the previous 9000, on account of the fact they had the ridiculously pointless wireless charging. Thankfully Philips saw the error of that gimmick and have re-introduced FAST charging that they nailed down to 1 hour – so I went for this! To the first most glaring new addition – the LED "SkinIQ". This I honestly believe is merely a gimmick, and I have switched the LED off. If you're paying this much, chances are that you've bought previous Philips shavers, so you'll already know how to shave effectively with them. But this generation is far more than just a gimmick – it is a radical new design, and not just with the shaver itself. When I first saw the plastic surrounds around the shaving heads, I again instantly thought "gimmick". However, when I thought about the design, it seems that they're designed to encase the shaver heads completely, and possibly protect them from staining and possibly even damage from shaving gel – which for me is perfect because I CANNOT dry shave comfortably as my skin is horribly sensitive. The next extremely welcome design change is the re-introduction of the flip up side burns trimmer. I saw many comments from Philips users bemoaning the removal of this in the previous couple of generations and I completely agreed with them. This is a really welcome return – but it might be the cause of the one downside to the design – and that is that the position of the power button has been raised higher – to pretty much exactly where your thumb rests holding the shaver when shaving with it. This is going to take some getting used to. Another radical redesign is the cleaning station – which is now a "pod". So radical, in fact, that the cleaning pod does not even need a separate power supply – instead you plonk the shaver into it and press the power button on the shaver! The display on the shaver looks like something from a sci-fi film now – I LOVE it. But don't think it's all style – this shaver is very much substance. The shave itself is comfortable, and the performance is strong. Of course it misses hairs at times – there is no shaver on the planet that won't – and anyone who tries to suggest otherwise is being economical with the truth. The trick is to take note of the areas you're still finding hairs after the shave, and pay extra attention to those next time around. All in all, this is the best package Philips has ever done with the 9000 series. The cleaning solution is great because it's space saving, and fast. The return of the sideburns trimmer, the dropping of the wireless charging gimmick and return to the 1 hour charging that we all love. Philips do not make the best of EVERY product, but in shaving I honestly believe that they are unrivalled. And I HAVE tried the rivals.InsanityDaily

I have used Braun electric shavers daily for the last 25 years and Remingtons before that. My Braun Series 7 sideburn trimmer broke this past week when I replaced the head so I was able to compare the two head to head. Braun 7 with a new foil head versus Series 9 Pro. The 9 Pro was a major improvement to the already fine Series 7 with a new head. I was amazed at the major difference of closeness of the shave and how efficient it was in requiring fewer passes to get a close shave. The shave with the Series 9 Pro was every bit as close as shaving with my Merzur safety razor. The new head design design on the Series 9 is clearly better plus there is a new feature that works really well. The head can be locked in a fixed position or used in in a pivoting position. The instructions recommend the fixed head position for your neck and cheeks. While the pivoting head works well under your nose and on your chin. The pop up sideburn trimmer has been relocated to the rear of the shaver which is a much better location than on the front of the shaver. The new charging case is wonderful for traveling on extended trips. I am amazed at the dramatic improvement of the Braun Series 9 Pro over my previous Braun Series 7. The shaver is a beautiful example of high quality German Design, German Engineering, and German manufacturing. Yes it is made in Germany which I much prefer over Chinese mediocre manufacturing. I bought the Series 9 Pro 9465 though I was skeptical. I have always used a Phillips Norelco triple headed rotary shaver because I believed that it was the only thing short of a blade that could give me a clean shave with all the crazy directions my beard grows. The quality of the blades on my Norelco shavers have degraded badly over the years and I find myself grinding the razor against my face for 10 minutes trying to get a reasonable shave and having razor burn afterward. I also don't shave every day anymore and every day past day 1 I go, the worse the shaving experience got. This shaver is amazing! If I shave every day it takes me about 90 second to get a MUCH closer shave than my old shaver, and I even 3 days to test it out and after 3 days the save was just as close and only required a little more effort. I never believed a foil shave could work for me but I'm convinced now. The skin on my face is much happier, and I am too. Pros: Really close shave with minimal effort Very quick to get to that close shave Nice design and fits well in my hand Impressive cleaning/charging station (yet to really test it out) Cons: Its not loud but the sound is high pitched compared to my old shaver and a little uncomfortable VERY pricey, I hope its wicked durable like my Norelcos which each lasted over a decade with just blade replacements Not sure I would spend the extra $100 on the base station if I had the chance to buy it againScoR

Quick assessment: Hefty feel that provides a very close shave, but does take longer to cut every hair with more noise and vibration than other electric shavers. Pros: Extremely high quality and hefty feel. The razor feels “premium” and I doubt it will break or have any quality issues for a long time. I love the attention that was put into the quality. This razor also shaves closer than any other electric razor I’ve tried before. If you are focused on the end result of super smooth skin post shaving, this is a great razor. The shaving head pivots to meet the contour of your face, and glides easily. I did not experience any roughness, scratchiness or other concerns – the razor heads glide smooth without irritation. Cons: Noise and vibration. As this design is a “side-to-side” trimmer, there is a lot more noise and vibration in the trimmer action than I am used to. It is not a defect, just something to be aware. It wasn’t a problem for me most weekends, but during the weekdays it did wake up my wife as I was getting ready for work. Also, while the razor is Li-Ion and can be used cordlessly most of the time, I found it unfortunate that razor does not work WHILE PLUGGED IN as well. I would be worried about forgetting to charge it and then being stuck unable to shave in the morning while waiting for enough charge to get going. Not a huge issue either, but also something to be aware of. Final con I noticed was just the time it takes to properly shave. This is the second OneBlade I have owned. As a stand alone, this is a good trimmer, especially for shorter length trimming. I like most of the new design, especially that the handle is slimmer with a better grip. However when compared to the last model, it falls short in allowable max trimming length and ease of adjustment. The reason is due to the rotating blade head. This new feature is not bad to have, though with the narrow blade, I've never felt the need for it. The rotation doesnt allow for a cap like the previous model, which had a simple dial to adjust length, all the way up to 9. This blade has an attachment which you need to rotate with your thumb. It's not the smoothest or easiest operation. It goes up to 5mm, which isn't bad for a face trimmer, but less than the previous. Overall, this is a solid trimmer which will get the job done well. I dont feel the blade rotation is better than an easier and longer guard adjustment.Jeremy O

This shaver is very impressive. I charged it for a couple hours and decided to give it a go on my 4 day stubble. It's worked like a dream, gives a very close shave almost as close at a razor, I was so impressed. I judge my razors based on how well i can get nice clean lines on my goatee and sideburns and this passed both tests! My goatee looks great and my sideburn lines are crisp and clean. This razor/trimmer is really nice. I got this swivel one after owning the original. I loved the original one. Perfect for taking care of those sensitive areas. This one blade 360 is even better. The head swivels and follows the contours of your face/body. This razor doesn't cut as close as a traditional razor, but pretty close. Very good substitute. Can use shaving cream and/or water for even a closer shave. Blade seems to last a long time. Compared to traditional razors the blade lasted me longer then 50 traditional razors. . I picked this trimmer up as a precision edging trimmer because my current beard trimmer is not precise enough to trim up the lines around the edges of my facial hair and side burns. This trimmer performed excellently in getting very precise lines and is a good addition to the arsenal. It comes with a single, adjustable trim guide for trimming large sections of facial hair. It’s easy to use, has 5 settings, and gets a nice uniform thickness of facial hair. It makes quick work of the shaving process and is enjoyable to use. So far I am happy with this razor. It trims, edges and shaves very well. No nicking, pulling or snagging either. It has a 360 blade so it pivots to any direction you need it to. It is waterproof so you can use it wet or dry. Although I find it always better to shave wet. It also comes with a length setting comb so you can achieve that perfect length all over. Charging is fast and once charged it last a good while on just that one charge. More than enough time to get several shaves, trimmings etc in. Overall I am very pleased with this razor, it works great and I am looking forward to using it much more!bowens

Nothin beats an all in one face shaver when you don’t have to go back and forth between different styles of razor's. Philips Norelco OneBlade 360 Face has precise accuracy and gets a very close shave! I love how close it gets without having to use a straight razor. The blade and head of the shaver runs close to the skin to catch the smallest hairs and leaves it baby soft. I was surprised at how well it did with only one pass and hands down will use this one for every shave. Phillips designed this product with shaving in mind and in my several uses, I have yet to see the normal cuts you would get with a regular razor. My favorite part is how the blades line up my beard so easily without frustration. The slim design is easy to see around and fits in a travel bag perfectly. I came to this after a number of years using other brands. My last razor — a triple-headed foil — had provided good service but the rechargeable battery was dying and it was utterly dreadful in one respect: it had a habit of missing fine, fair and hard-to-see hairs on my neck until they were too long to fail to notice and I was able to take the trimmer to them. So this was chosen after quite a bit of research. I wanted great battery life and good performance on long hairs, but I also wanted the otherwise extremely close shave my old electric razor gave me. Like they say, two out of three ain't bad. The best points: it has yet to miss a long hair and battery life is excellent. The charge time is wonderful too. Less good: I was excited to try wet-shaving with it. The plus side: it definitely works. The downside: dry shaving definitely gives closer results. The extremely down-side: while shaving in the shower is definitely a novelty, the lack of mirrors in my shower is a bit of a barrier: I can't see what I'm doing, so I have to rely on touch, and it seems that I can't do a good enough job that I don't have to complete the job after I'm out of the shower (and once the bathroom mirror's unfogged!) The closeness of the shave is a bit of an issue for me. My first use of the shaver left me disappointed. Subsequently, I've discovered that I can get nearly as good results as my old shaver but only if I go over and over my skin more than I ever previously had to: it takes me a good 5 minutes to shave, nearly twice what it used to. But you know what? I can live with it. The shaver is much more comfortable, much quieter (I initially wondered if the blades had been separately packed and I needed to install them, it was so quiet!) and although it's not quite as close a shave as I'd got used to, the old shaver often left me feeling like I'd lost a layer of skin and sometimes even drew blood. So, on balance, this is a pretty good shaver. It's easy to use, the wettable qualities certainly make it easy to clean (and maybe some more experimentation with shaving gels will improve my experience in the wet-shaving department — I wouldn't rule it out!) although cleaning the blades individually is a little fiddly for my fumble-fingers, that's not something that has to be done daily so I can cope with that too. I don't know how long I've had this shaver, but I bought it from Target several years ago. I've replaced the blades annually over the course of my ownership and even went several years with a full beard and didn't use the shaver. This is really a practical and well-designed shaver. I recently considered buying a new Norelco shaver because I got rid of my beard and the fact is, this one does a great job. I read so many negative reviews about razors and I don't know what their issues are, but this is just descent razor that does the job. After all the hype that I read and watched online, I find it difficult to believe that this product is as popular as it appears to be. When you run an electric razor over the same area up to 10 times and your whiskers are all still there…. then there is a problem somewhere. I made sure to apply light pressure and hold the product at the proper angle (as per the instructions) and the the only difference was chaffed skin. This product did even worse on my neck. None of the whiskers were cut and I had what looked (and felt) like burn marks on my throat. This is not the most expensive electric razor on the market, by far. But it's not cheap either. It has a very lightweight "cheap feel" to it. I don't care what a razor looks like, or feels like in my hand. Those are non-issues with me. As long as the product works, I honestly don't care. That being said, this razor is poorly designed. It looks and feels like you're shaving with a 3 1/2 inch section of two-by-four. In the barber trade, Andis and Wahl are the big names in clippers shavers. When it comes to tools for finishing fades, the Andis Profoil and Wahl Shaver Shaper are the benchmarks. I bought the Andis because I like the way the shaver blades are staggered. The performance is outstanding. You shave as close as you want. But I'd have to caution anyone using this tool not to bear down hard because you'll be pushing the blades with far too much force against the foil which will wear down the foil and blades prematurely and might even produce a razor burn. Just take it easy and you'll have great results in short order.7373markh

If you’re a bald man with a beard myself then this is a great product to have! This is more of a “finishing” product. All you have to do is get your head down to stubble and and go over it with this and bam no hair left. It’s also great for lining up your beard. The only negative I would have to say is that I tend to go through the foil replacements quite a bit because I use mine so much but you have to realize it’s foil and isn’t made to last forever. I bought this shaver about a month ago after my Braun shaver quit on me after two years. I've had Norelco's in the past as did my dad. There was a comment made by one person that he didn't like this shaver because he felt the motor wasn't fast enough. I found this to be true however the motor is quiet and there are three cutting head with a lot of blades. Thinking logically, if the motor was any faster, there's a good chance that the blades would miss some hairs. Of all the Norelco's I've had in the past, this one is the best. The main shaver head along with the 3 cutting heads give a very close shave and conforms to your face, jawline and Adam's apple where my old Braun didn't. I use Williams Electric Shave for lubrication and have yet to have any razor burn. For cleaning, pop open the shaver head and rinse with warm water. There are three indicator lights which tell you when the shaver is fully charged and when it'll need to be charged up again. For $60.00, this shaver at least for me is worth every penny.Dakasis

The shaver does a good job, I have had bad experiences with electric shavers in the past where the blades have pulled on my facial hair and it hurts that even before I would shave I would use the back razer to shorten my facial hair so I could shave my face or I would just use the back razer to shave completely. with this electric shaver, I can get a good shave without the blades pulling on my facial hair. there is a lot of confusion on what I can use with the shaver, like Lectric Shave or can I use shaving cream, the user manual doesn't give enough instructions. it's great that it comes with a case for the shaver and the charger, but the shaver is difficult to fully clean out like dumping out all the hairs that the shaver collects, also you are only recommended one accessory, and that accessory is no longer available and it's an important product because it's used to clean the head of the shaver.Hunter11

I found that my new shaver does a credible job. I enjoy the fact that it's waterproof and can be washed after use. However, it was supposed to show a warning light when the battery became low, and it didn't do that, and I was caught one morning not being able to shave because the battery needed recharging. I've been using a Norelco shaver for more than 20 years (Model #6843XL) even after the battery could no longer be charged by plugging it in until even plugging it in would no longer work. So being 94 years old, I assume that this will be my last shaver I'll have to buy if this one is as good as my last one.Maftir

I had one similar to this two years ago and loved it so I had to get another! It grabbed those stubbles in private areas that a regular razor can’t! This new Norelco shaver is a big change from my current one. Some things I really like about it and a couple not so much. Starting with the not so much is the fact that there's no charger for this shaver, it just comes with a cable with a USB end. My current Norelco has a nice charger base it sits upright in and plugs into the wall. The shave head on this is also considerably larger than my current one and takes some getting used to for trimming around tight spots on the face. Now for the good, this shaver requires very little effort for shaving stubble on my face and gets it all with only a couple passes. The way the shave head can contour around the face is cool and helps to get shaving done quicker. The shaver has a battery level indicator on the front which comes in handy, my current one only has a light that flashes when its time to charge it. Overall this is a nice replacement shaver other than not coming with a charger right out of the box.dmx10101

I was "born" into Norelco shavers, one might say, as I observed my father using the brand. That was some sixty years ago and, in the years since, I've been been through a few of them, some pricey, some not so pricey and some extremely pricey. A couple of months ago I saw the Series 6600 on display at my local Costco as I entered the store. A few days later I was at the store and I looked more closely and decided to buy it at $99 and something. If there is such a thing as "love at first shave," this was it! It took just an hour for a full charge and I expected a few weeks of getting used to. No such thing. It was just what my face was waiting for all these years. Probably the best rotary shaver ever made. This model is akin to the old-style Norelco shavers of the 90s into the 2000s. Only with a modern look and feel. For a while, since 2015 or so I think, most Philips Norelco models had heads with two rows of blades and were somewhat open on the outside. I feel this was a mistake as skin could get caught in the open spaces. This model however has the blades completely enclosed by the comb with one row of blades. Like the old ones used to be. And believe me, one row of blades is fine. I get a great shave from this model. Philips Norelco reached the apex of electric shaving technology years ago with lift-and-cut blades, and they just keep improving. But the previous style of blades was not best for me. Speaking of lift-and-cut, that was not a meaningless marketing slogan. If the hairs were long enough you could actually feel them being plucked, ouch. Fortunately gone are the days of nickel-cadmium batteries taking 8 hours to charge and dry shaving only. This is the new era of electric shaving. The blades are self sharpening and most if not all models are now wet / dry. This model feels sturdy and solid with good weight. Fits well in the hand. And the motor is strong but not too loud. And the blades cut through stubble like it's not even there. I've used many norelco models through the years. But there's something about this one. It cuts cleaner, easier and faster. And it just feels better on my face, and in my hand. I shave in the shower with Nivea Men Sensitive gel, because I'm a sensitive guy. And if I'm in a hurry I shave dry. Featured here is the Panasonic ES3831, a cousin of the ES3834 which I had and which it duplicates in every way except for the trimmer which the ES3834 had but which this ES3831 doesn't, but if you have no mustache to trim like I do, this ES3831 will be a must have for you. It follows a line of very reliable high quality Japanese precision Panasonic ES travel shavers. I could not believe at how great a shave it gave! And it runs for a long time on easy to find AA batteries. No fumbling around with a charger. Very handy when you're traveling international because different countries have different outlet configurations. With this handy precision quality shaver, you won't have to worry about that. Don't worry about getting it wet. It's water resistant and can be used for a wet shave. I gave mine to my wife, and after flirting with another brand that just didn't work despite its name and higher price, I'm going back to the exact same Panasonic model now to get back into the game.PapaBap

I wish in the "Tell us more" section, it had an option under "Do you recommend it?" to be "Maybe"; Ditto for is it a good value. It is well known that electric foil and "pad" shavers work well but maybe not as well as blade. Remember that old adage by some shaver manufacturers that their shavers "shave as close as a blade or your money back."? That tells you that blades shave closest. In the case of this Panasonic shaver, that is still true. The foil on this shaver gets dull rather quickly after using it for a few weeks, so I now have to follow it up with a going over with a razor. The reason that I use this shaver is that I keep cutting myself with the razor if I use the razor first; even with shaving cream. I wish there was a way to closely shave but not cut myself. On the good side, this shaver is waterproof and the batteries last a long time, weeks, before replacing.bricolaje

I've been a fan of Braun for many years, but this is my first with the cleaning station. I'm really impressed. Not only is it a super close razor, but the cleaning station does a fabulous job. Another feature, the "tilting" head, makes it very comfortable to handle the contour of your jaw line. If there's a downside, its obviously the price. It was only on Ebay that I found one at a price I felt my wallet could handle. I'd highly recommend this for anyone looking to upgrade their appearance.leeb001

I have studied the 7000 series shavers. They are a good value as they have both trimmer and shave heads. This shaver can be used both wet and dry shaves,The cleaning system is new to me ,but you dont have to use it every time. Just a water rinse is sufficient. I bought this shaver for my husband who uses blood thinners and has had trouble with razor cuts. This shaver does an excellent job. He can still use the shaving cream that he likes, too.Char19

Have been a faithful purchaser of Norelco/Phillips products. Decided to upgrade to this model. Really like the cleaning feature. Shave is smooth like most of these razors, but it's nice to simply pop into the cleaner and walk away.DavidT
