I have used Braun electric shavers daily for the last 25 years and Remingtons before that. My Braun Series 7 sideburn trimmer broke this past week when I replaced the head so I was able to compare the two head to head. Braun 7 with a new foil head versus Series 9 Pro. The 9 Pro was a major improvement to the already fine Series 7 with a new head. I was amazed at the major difference of closeness of the shave and how efficient it was in requiring fewer passes to get a close shave. The shave with the Series 9 Pro was every bit as close as shaving with my Merzur safety razor. The new head design design on the Series 9 is clearly better plus there is a new feature that works really well. The head can be locked in a fixed position or used in in a pivoting position. The instructions recommend the fixed head position for your neck and cheeks. While the pivoting head works well under your nose and on your chin. The pop up sideburn trimmer has been relocated to the rear of the shaver which is a much better location than on the front of the shaver. The new charging case is wonderful for traveling on extended trips. I am amazed at the dramatic improvement of the Braun Series 9 Pro over my previous Braun Series 7. The shaver is a beautiful example of high quality German Design, German Engineering, and German manufacturing. Yes it is made in Germany which I much prefer over Chinese mediocre manufacturing. I bought the Series 9 Pro 9465 though I was skeptical. I have always used a Phillips Norelco triple headed rotary shaver because I believed that it was the only thing short of a blade that could give me a clean shave with all the crazy directions my beard grows. The quality of the blades on my Norelco shavers have degraded badly over the years and I find myself grinding the razor against my face for 10 minutes trying to get a reasonable shave and having razor burn afterward. I also don't shave every day anymore and every day past day 1 I go, the worse the shaving experience got. This shaver is amazing! If I shave every day it takes me about 90 second to get a MUCH closer shave than my old shaver, and I even 3 days to test it out and after 3 days the save was just as close and only required a little more effort. I never believed a foil shave could work for me but I'm convinced now. The skin on my face is much happier, and I am too. Pros: Really close shave with minimal effort Very quick to get to that close shave Nice design and fits well in my hand Impressive cleaning/charging station (yet to really test it out) Cons: Its not loud but the sound is high pitched compared to my old shaver and a little uncomfortable VERY pricey, I hope its wicked durable like my Norelcos which each lasted over a decade with just blade replacements Not sure I would spend the extra $100 on the base station if I had the chance to buy it againScoR

Quick assessment: Hefty feel that provides a very close shave, but does take longer to cut every hair with more noise and vibration than other electric shavers. Pros: Extremely high quality and hefty feel. The razor feels “premium” and I doubt it will break or have any quality issues for a long time. I love the attention that was put into the quality. This razor also shaves closer than any other electric razor I’ve tried before. If you are focused on the end result of super smooth skin post shaving, this is a great razor. The shaving head pivots to meet the contour of your face, and glides easily. I did not experience any roughness, scratchiness or other concerns – the razor heads glide smooth without irritation. Cons: Noise and vibration. As this design is a “side-to-side” trimmer, there is a lot more noise and vibration in the trimmer action than I am used to. It is not a defect, just something to be aware. It wasn’t a problem for me most weekends, but during the weekdays it did wake up my wife as I was getting ready for work. Also, while the razor is Li-Ion and can be used cordlessly most of the time, I found it unfortunate that razor does not work WHILE PLUGGED IN as well. I would be worried about forgetting to charge it and then being stuck unable to shave in the morning while waiting for enough charge to get going. Not a huge issue either, but also something to be aware of. Final con I noticed was just the time it takes to properly shave. While the shave is super close, it isn’t super quick and does require a few passes to get everything just right.we98

Pros – Excellent razor. Closest shave I have ever had. Fast and easy shave due to excellent blades. Cons – Requires a bit of maintenance. You need to run the “cleaning program” every day (personally I do it every other day). Some water and a cleaning solution shoots up into the case and cleans the razor once activated (1 pack of solution is provided for one month – available on Amazon sold as a pack for a reasonable price). This seemed like a bit of a pain at first, especially changing the solution every month, but the razor looks brand new and is working like it was just out of box many months later, so I think it’s worth it. Note – the first ten minutes of the cleaning process are VERY NOISY. The last 60 or so of the drying process aren’t too bad. Don’t expect to clean this razor before you head off to work if your partner is within 25 yards. It’s like waking up to someone vacuuming your pillow.Kayak4

The Panasonic Arc 5 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver with Self-cleaning recharger is outstanding. I've used safety razors for years and decided to try and electric. The Panasonic was the best choice!! If you've been using blades it takes around a month for your face to adapt to an electric but after that time using the electric is great!! Especially with the Self-cleaning recharger. It keeps your razor clean and charged so you always get a great shave. Be sure you read all the instructions so you can get the most from your razor.Steve

I have been using this shaver for 2 years now primarily for bald head shaving. I have also found it very useful for neck shaving since I have a heard. The pop up trimmer is very sharp and precise. I use the pop up trimmer just above my top lip to straighten out my beard. This pop up trimmer is my go-to for precise trimmer when I need it as it is sharper than my other beard trimmers. This trimmer is very powerful, long battery life and my favourite part is the cleaning station. All you have to do after a shave is use a brush to remove the hair from the cutting blades, then drop it in the cleaning station and walk away… Excellent. I had a problem with the cleaning station and I was near the 2 year exchange warranty. I highly recommend contacting panasonic directly for this. I contacted best buy and they maintained it's only a 1 year warranty. It is NOT, it's definitely a 2 year warranty. They just shipped me a brand new replacement unit. Awesome!!Anonymous

This is a pretty simple rotary shaver. It's dry use only, but does have some perks. The battery life is outstanding, though it does take a while to fully charge. It also comes equipped with a precision tool. This is built in, and easy to open/ close. This tool works well for lining up beards, and sideburns. Now— The main shaver head is decent as far as power goes. It does not get a super close shave, but I've only experienced a super close shave with a straight razor. To use, I find that it has to be moved in slow circular motions, and repeated quite a few time before achieving the shave I want. However, it is a more basic model, with an affordable price tag, so this is expected. The performance is on par with the price. Cleaning the shaver is also very easy. There's a handy thumb button on the head. Simply push the button and lift the head. The shaver will open, and the hair can be tapped out. If you can't seem to get it all, I'd recommend using a soft brush. I have a badger hair brush for my straight razor, I just give the inside a quick swipe and all the hair falls out. This is by far one of the easiest shavers to clean! I received a free sample to test and review. I will continue to use this razor, and would recommend it to others.sandre81

REMINGTON PR1335 SHAVER: The GOOD: I bought this razor because the Norelco shaver (even with new heads) pulled at my son's face. (He is disabled and I shave him daily). This razor does a GREAT JOB at not pulling on his face and it shaves very clean. So that's good! THE BAD: It takes 16 hours for a full charge to give 40 minutes of shave time! And you don't find that out until you open the package and read the manual. There is no indication when it's fully charged either. So the Remington brand is highly recommended by me but NOT this particular model: PR 1335. For your info, the model PR 1340 takes 4 hours for a full charge and that provides a 50 minute shave time. The models 1360 and 1385 both take a full charge time of 90 minutes for a 60 minute shave time. The charge light never came on at all the 2nd time it was plugged in. (but as has been said before, it doesn't tell you when the shaver is charged anyway.) I am going to upgrade to one of the other models because 16 hours of charge time is just way too much and I need to know when it's fully charged.Foodie100

This razor is the only electric razor I am happy to say is better than traditional multiblade razors. Why, because i have used this razor now for 3 years, this very model, and if kept clean, it will result in a baby smooth consistent shave across the face, chin, jawline and neck. Used with electric shave face preshave and for the jaw line pulling the skin forwards with 3 fingers before the shaver results in deep shave results. The best thing, no cuts, no bleeding, just lovem smooth skin that the wife loves and deserves. A nice deep clean of the razor is needed about once a month with a dry tooth brush getting every surface inside and out. And that's all it takes to keep this wonderful work of engineering performing like brand new. It recommends new blades once a year, but I have not found the need. Just keep it cleaned and it keeps on going. I have tried cheaper Remington models, and the Norelcos, but they can't paerform like this baby does.FastFreddy

This is my second one blade so the fact that I ordered another one says it all! As someone with very sensitive, acne and in grown hair prone skin I was never able to shave using the traditional razor and shaving cream method. I have tried out many hand held razors from cheap to very expensive but none of them lasted more than a few months never mind an entire year. I saw the one blade at my local pharmacy and decided to try it as I’ve had decent success with norelco in the past. This was the shaver I’ve needed and wanted all my life! The flat head design ensures stability while shaving and also makes it incredibly easy to shape my beard, side burns etc. What I love the most about the one blade is that it shaves the skin pretty much as close as a regular razor without the “side effects” of a traditional razor. No longer do I suffer with acne, razor bumps or irritation after shaving. This new one blade greatly improves upon the first iteration in the design of the guides and charging stand. The first one had individual length guides that didn’t really stay on that well and no charging base. I love the design of this new model because the guide stays on even while trimming the jawline and the lcd screen shows how much charge is left. For how small this thing is it has always held a charge very well. I shave about every week-ish and a full charge lasts about a month depending on how much I shave. The disposable heads last a long time as well given I tidy-up the thicker hair of the torso and below the belt, using a separate blade of course. My first one blade has lasted me over 3 years and it would probably still work if I didn’t drop it so much. To sum up my review, if anyone has had the same issues as I have using a traditional razor than I implore you to give this a try! Your skin will thank you!JNYC

I have always struggled with shavers, I am fair haired and my beard grows slowly so I usually go clean shaven but recently I have tried some different lengths of beard. With this Oneblade Pro I can manage the length easily, the guard comes with an adjustable comb so you can set it between 0.5 and 10mm, the best bit about that is it adjusts so simply with a turn of the wheel, the numbers are nice and clear so it's easy to set where you want it and it also doesn't move while shaving so you get a good even shave. I have attached a couple of photos, when I heard I was getting this I let my beard grow out so it was pretty long and untamed, for the first try I basically took it all off with a combination of using the guard and then removing it for a smooth finish, you can see the difference and it was an effortless shave no fuss and a nice smooth face. Battery life wise it's great so far, charged up once, used every day for a week and it's still going strong, I am guessing it will need charging soon but I can't complain at all. It is comfortable in the hand and us really sinple to use, the rotating head makes shaving so easy and it follows the contours of your face very well. It.comes with an extra blade for body shaving which I haven't used yet but its good to have the option. It comes with a standard 2 pin shaving plug for the bathroom socket and the lead is long enough to not cause any issues. It's much better for me than having to use a beard trimmer if I want to have some decent stubble and have a separate razor for when I want to be clean shaved, this does both really well and I would recommend it to anyone.Mooseman34

I will start this review by saying that I've exclusively used electric razors basically since I discovered what they were after I started shaving. I've used many different types and qualities over the years to varying levels of success. Unfortunately, the Philips Norelco Oneblade Pro fails to live up to the hype. In concept, the idea is interesting and unique, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. To start, the blade touts itself as being able to handle all lengths of hair, and I had gone almost 2 weeks without a shave (which is uncommon for me) so I figured what better way to test it. I tend to shave my neck clean and leave a bit of a 2-3 day shadow on my face so that's what I aimed for. While it accomplished this task, it was much more difficult and took much longer than my traditional method. I started with clean saving using the Oneblade without the guard on it, and it does well enough, although since it only cuts along the top and bottom edges, I found covering large flat areas to be a bit of an interesting experience. Since it doesn't cut directly under the flat middle part of the blade, you have to be sure there is room to move the blade up and down around it without cutting hair you don't want cut. The angle of the blade on the base does not lend itself to this experience. Trying to angle it without flipping it over is nearly impossible, and flipping it over means the teeth of the blade are directly against your skin. Fortunately the rounded edges do save you from any terrible mishaps, but it still does not lend itself to a very easy shaving experience. Once I finished the clean shaven portion of my neck, I attached the comb and set it to '3' (which I imagine is something akin to 3mm of my old Philips Norelco comb. It does manage to keep a consistent 3mm cut throughout, but it's like taking a weed-eater to a full yard of 5ft weeds. Yes, it CAN do it, but it does not do it well. As the blades cut the hair, it would just pile up and jam into the top of the comb until the comb and blades so full of hair they could no longer reach my face, and instead required me to remove the comb, tap out the hair and brush off the blades. The other strange thing about this design is that with the comb installed, only one of the two cutting edges is in use, which means if you only ever use it with the comb installed, or mostly use it with the comb installed, you will dull one side of the blade much sooner than the other. The blade cannot be flipped over to allow you a fresh cutting edge on the side that you use less. One thing I will mentioned about this, is that it is more comfortable than any travel razor I've ever used. So for travel, I would choose it over most other options if you're not willing to pack a bigger or bulkier razor. Bottom line, It will accomplish what it set out to do, but unfortunately it does not do any of those things well. It's comfortable, if a little strange to use and does not nick or cut the skin even if you have to use it at strange angles. But for the same tasks there are better options.Beradon

Been shaving for 45 years, and mostly with Panasonic shavers. They are by far the best shavers made. I have 4 Panasonics in my collection right now… the ES8249, ES-LF51 ES-LA93 and the new ES-LV97. Whats nice about Panasonic is that the charger/cleaning station can be used interchangeable with almost any of it models in a pinch. I've used Braun, Reminington and most the top brands and Panasonic is the best, IMHO. The Braun had an annoying vibration to it and not as smooth as the Panasonics. My current shaver is a ES LA93 which is very good but only has 3 blades The ES-VS97 in new and improved, and I mean that literally. The 5 blade head are smooth and soft, and cut with less swipes than the ones with 3 blades. The pop up trimmer is a big improvement over older models, as it locks in place moving in either direction. Lastly, cosmetically it is much nicer looking with a matte black finish.cgnaked

I’m switching to this electric Panasonic Arc5 razor after having used another brand’s wet/dry electric razor for the past 13 years. The Arc5 razor is lightweight, and the matte black plastic doesn’t look or feel very premium, however, a silver/chrome model is also available and the warranty is 2 years. This razor performs very nicely and gives me a close shave both when using dry and wet with shaving cream. I very rarely have to make more than one pass over the same patch of skin, though I find that when shaving dry it’s easier to pull the skin taught to raise the hairs since I don’t have to work over the shaving cream. The first time I used the razor I did experience a bit of razor burn and irritation, especially around the Adam’s apple; the manual suggests that it could take up to 30 days of regular use for your skin to acclimate to the new shaver. That, plus I haven’t clean shaven properly in weeks as growing out your beard has become quite trendy during the COVID-19 pandemic. That said, I did use the trimmers first to trim my facial hair down to stubble before shaving and was impressed with the efficiency and smoothness of the pop up trimmers; they didn’t catch, pull, or snag once, which my old electric razor used to do constantly. If you like the stubble or 5 o’clock shadow look, you could probably even stop there. The LCD is bright and easy to read, but it really only gives you information about the remaining battery life and whether or not it is set to the “cleaning” mode. The charging cable connector is uniquely shaped, so if you lose it or it breaks, you’ll need to get a model/series specific replacement cable. It lasts about 2 weeks on a full charge (1 hour) if your daily shave averages about 3 minutes. While the unit I have did not come with a charging base, there are contacts on back of the handle for automatic charging when the razor is placed into a charging base. What I did find interesting about this razor is its beard density sensor which changes the motor speed based on the density/coarseness of the section of beard it is trimming. You can hear the motor sound change as it encounters thinner or thicker patches of hair, which works well on my uneven and patchy beard growth. The razor also has a cleaning cycle and comes with blade oil to maintain the blade sharpness and a brush to clean out any shavings. The top pops off easily for cleaning, and the foils and blades are simple to remove and replace when needed. The unit did come with a leatherette carry case and a plastic protective cap for travel. My beard may be a bit different than the avg. guy’s beard. I’m not a hairy guy, & I don’t have a thick, coarse, stubbly beard. If I don’t shave during the work week, I won't end up with a stylish 5 o’clock shadow until Friday afternoon–a look that a lot of other guys can achieve in just 1 day. But even with my soft, thin facial hair, this electric razor doesn’t offer the close shave I’d hoped for. In fact, the number of passes I’m forced to make over my face & neck to obtain a clean, whiskerless mug is both annoying & time-consuming. So, despite my slow-growing beard, if I don’t shave at least 2-to-3 times/week w/this electric razor, then I’m forced to revert to a disposable razor for a clean shave. In addition, I found that the shaver’s large head makes it a bit unwieldy & difficult to obtain a close shave in the area just beneath my nose. Whether shaving wet or dry & regardless of technique (going against the grain, stretching the skin, toggling the shaver head between the “free” & “lock” positions, utilizing the pop-up trimmer, etc.), I also found it difficult to get a clean shave under my jaw line, below my sideburns. I experienced similar difficulty in shaving the tiny hairs in the lower neck/throat area on either side of my Adam’s apple. Although some may prefer to utilize the razor’s wet shave capability, I don’t like to shave in the shower. Although I did try the wet shave option, it didn’t cut any better than the dry shave. So, after 2 tries at wet shaving, I went back to traditional dry shaving. As for the suggested shaving cream option, I don’t use shaving cream with an electric razor. For me, the whole pt. of an electric razor is convenience & time savings vs. dealing w/the hassles of a manual razor (running hot water, applying/removing shaving cream/gel, & cauterizing bloody nicks, etc.). Simply put: an electric shaver should provide a QUICK, safe, close shave without all the mess & fuss. Although a 2-yr. mfr.’s limited warranty sounds impressive vs. the industry std., a quick check revealed that the common recommended replacement parts (new blades & foils) aren’t inexpensive. So, I doubt I’ll be able to justify the expense of regular maintenance w/this razor (apart from routine cleaning). Instead, I’ll probably elect to put those funds towards the cost of a new shaver. Furthermore, the lithium ion battery life is just 3 yrs., & it isn’t intended to be replaced by the consumer. In some ways, this shaver could almost be considered an expensive disposable razor. On a minor note, the black travel case/pouch feels like cheap vinyl without any real padding or cushioning to fully protect the hardware & sensitive electronics. Overall, I'm a bit underwhelmed & disappointed, as I expected greater performance—namely, a closer, quicker shave—from a premium electric shaver at this price point.CriticalEye

Nothing worse than a company praying you don’t read the smaller text. I was unfortunate enough to buy in store to find out that the 100% waterproof is only for cleaning. Very annoying- but maybe passable if its use was good? Absolutely not. Took forever to get anything off my face which a normal razor could have done 3 times over in the time I tried to use this- and my face still isn’t properly shaven. I’d get a refund but I didn’t realize how truly bad this product would be Stick to shaving normally if possible or buy a better razor thats TRULY WATERPROOF if thats what you’re looking forCyrus

This is my first experience with a Braun razor. I wear a beard, but still need to keep my neck & cheeks nice and neat. I shaved with a hand razor for years, it was fine. I was interested in a foil razor, but wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep my definition lines on my face without destroying them. However, a friend of mine who also sports a beard has used a Braun for years, no issues. For the price I paid for this razor, I thought I'd try. Not sure why this little razor isn't getting more love, maybe people just don't know how to shave. It works darn good. I can shave closer & faster than I can with a blade, no irritation, and it does not destroy my beard lines. I can't imagine how good your expensive models shave, this little guy works well. Only wish I could use with a cord, but that's not a deal breaker. Don't ignore this razor!mike6000

There was nothing at all to dislike about this product. I found it to be an amazing piece of machinery. You see I have Parkinson's disease. It eventually became impossible for me to use standard blade razor because I could not twist my wrist to the angles needed to save the contours of my face at the jawline on the sides of my face. This razor is lightweight definitely waterproof and easily glides over all the contours of my face with its pivoting blades. Or I also like to point out that it was easy for me to hold because of the texture of the outside casing of the razor itself you see I have no strength in my hands either. I promise that this razor gives just as close a shave as a standard triple Blade razor.Philip

Another great rotary in Philips' lineup. This series does solve the issue of many complaints regarding the detachable trimmer and heads of other Philips shavers – it has the traditional flip-top head and pop-up trimmer. This adds to the bulk of the shaver, body and head, but precludes having to keep track of a separate trimmer and remove the head for cleaning, and it works reasonably well, although for me the trimmer isn't quite as effective as the SmartClick attachments for the Series 9000 shavers. The ComfortGlide Rings really are effective, and provide a frictionless shave, although in this model they are slightly larger than the Anti-Friction rings of the S7940 for example, and require some maneuvering to get around tight areas. The Quick Clean pods use the same cleaning solution as the SmartClean cartridges for the SmartClean stations, which is excellent for cleaning and lubricating the shaver. The Quick Clean Pod is unpowered however, and uses the shaver's power, reducing it by about 1 percent per cleaning, although on a positive note doesn't require cords or cables and is more compact – actually usable for travel. The GroomTribe app is the Achilles Heel of all these Bluetooth shavers, and in particular this model (S7782), because there's no information regarding this particular shaver – the app seems exclusively to recognize only the S7940 shaver. On the plus side, the S7782 will connect, and it does record the shaving time and the percentage of rotation (which improves shaving efficiency), although the motion sensor algorithm in the shaver appears not to recognize the correct rotational movement about half the time. The good news is you don't actually need the app, and this shaver has an LED screen that provides all the essential information about the shaver, including battery life, cleaning information and the previously mentioned inaccurate rotation statistics. The shaving heads (SH71/52) only have a single cutting ring, but actually are comfortable and provide a very close shave. Overall, an excellent rotary from Philips, that provides a close, comfortable shave, warts and all, with the potential to improve with software updates to the app. Recommended.S7782

The Norelco S7000 is a very great shaver and I do recommend this electric shaver to all men especially men with sensitive skin which I have and I’m 50 years old and I have been searching for a shaver electric or not and it will not make my neck red or razor bumps. The reason why I’m giving my purchase review is because it came with a defective battery it won’t hold a charge for that long as Norelco says that it should. So I contacted the manufacture and told them of this and they mailed me a replacement shaver of the same type and the replacement does hold a charge unlike the first one that I bought. And if you have sensitive scan on your neck and when you shave you get a red neck from a razor and bumps then you really need to buy either the S7000 or the S9000 cause I can shave dry and I get awesome results and no redness or bumps and you would want to get the electric Norelco shaver that you can clean it using a cleaning pod. I will never go back to razor’s ever again and when I have wore it out I will buy another one. I did buy the S9000 because it comes with double the blades but either electric shaver will give you a very smooth clean shave.Baylein

I grew up with and have used Norelco rotary shavers and body groom tools all my adult life. My old one, probably close to 20 years now, still works but there is no availability of replacement heads anymore and some wear finally. This is an excellent shaver and I am very happy I got it. I considered the 3000 and 5000 series, but 3000 seems to use lower end heads, and while the 5000 uses the same as this, the hard travel case is essential to me and purchased as a separate accessory brings the cost close enough that it was worth it to just get the higher end kit. The shave is great; I haven't yet tried out the cleaning pod. The shaver cleans very well under running water following the instructions. I also have some extras from my previous Philips/Norelco products that I use with this, such as combs, cleaning brushes and a spare charger.Chris_P

Purchased a Series 9 in January of 2022. I believe the manufacturer states that you should be able to get 18 months out of a blade (which are very expensive to replace). I started finding that my beard was taking longer and longer each day to get a good shave out of and as a result, the battery lasts me 5 days at best. This started to happen after about 4-5 months of use. It is difficult to get to the 6 months point without replacing the blade no less 18 months. Given that, it is a very expensive shaver to own and I am disappointed. My Braun series 5 performed much much better but it's been discontinued.stinger

I have used this shaver only twice. Both times dry, once after 3 days of not shaving, once after on day. Shaver is noisy, but the shave is smooth. After 3 days takes a long time. You have to passed on your face several times. If you shave couple of times a week this is not the right shaver. Don't cut the fine hairs on the neck. Curvature of the shaving head dose not allow to reach under the nose. But you can use the trimmer. Trimmer width is too narrow and too close to shaver head. This shaver is not for traveling. Cleaning part to bulky and cleaning solution can not be put in carrying case (TSA), so you need to carry a suite case and pay extra, unless you are travelling first class. No plastic cover for shaving head, but carrying case quite good and sturdy. A plastic cap can be produced in China for about 50 cents. Consumables. Require cleaning solution and lubricant oil. All extra expenses. This a good shaver, but not suitable if you travel and if you don't mind the bulky cleaning and consumable. They don't want to sell just a shaver, but also a steady income stream by selling consumable.Jeffj

I purchased this product about 2 months ago when my older 7000 series shaver finally gave out after more than 5 years. I had used a 3000 series before, and the 7000 was a great upgrade and provided a clean comfortable shave. I thought the 9000 series was an upgrade from the 7000, but apparently I was completely wrong. My first shave with this razor was extremely painful, pulling hairs constantly and also provided a much worse cut than my old 7000 series. After my first shave with it the very first response my wife gave me was "Why didn't you use the new shaver you just got?" That hurt almost as much as the shave. In any case, I decided it might just be the new style of shaver head and my beard/face needed time to "adapt" and gave it a while. After one month, no change, and today is the 2 month anniversary and I'm done with this razor. It still pulls multiple times every shave with just one day worth of hair growth, and I have to shave twice as long (at least) to get anywhere near the closeness of shave I get with my old 7000 series. I think part of the issue is the new foil design, specifically the gold cover which appears to have box holes that basically just grab and yank out hair, baffling design to me. In any case, I will warn everyone I know to stay very far away from this razor. If you happen to be unlucky and have one yourself, I'd urge you to upgrade to a 7000 series shave as you will find it works better than this razor in every way. Shaving in the morning shouldn't feel like punishment and having to suffer through constant yanks and burns, and that's all this razor provides. When I received the product I briefly used it to shave my face. The product seemed to do a very good job of coverage as well as precisely removing the fine hair. It was a lot better than my current product. The price of the product is well worth it, considering it only takes one hour to charge. When I received this razor, I was very excited to test it out and see how it compares to my other shavers that I have. I took the product out of the box and the box design was very appealing. The colors popped and it was eye capturing. There was little packaging inside of the box which was nice because one thing that I don't like is a box that has more packaging than what the product calls for. I removed the shaver from the box and my first impression was that it was a very sleek design and that it was very light weight. It honestly looked a little futuristic. I waited to shave a few days before I got this shaver because I wanted to have some scruffage to shave off. When I turned it shaver on, it was very quiet unlike some of my others that I have which made a very annoying buzzing noise. I uncapped the protective cover and moved the shaver to my face, It started eating the stubble like a champ. I was immediately disappointed once the stubble was gone, the shaver did not give a "close" shave to get that 5 o'clock shadow look like I can get with my other shavers. I literally had to go back over my neck with a regular razor to shave off what the shaver did not catch. I have always wondered about electric shavers and how much different they’d be from manual shaving. The answer is? Very. It is so much easier, faster, and cleaner than shaving with a manual razor. And once you’re done, it’s very simple to clean it off with some warm water and the cleaning brush included, then put the protective cover over the head. I like how gentle it is with my skin. Some other razors leave me with red marks, burns, and even cuts. Not fun. But I haven’t had any of those issues with this shaver so far. It glides effortlessly over the skin and leaves my face feeling super smooth afterwards. The shaver is very travel friendly. The shaver head cover that is included also goes over the power button to insure that it doesn’t accidentally turn on in your suitcase. And the charging cord it comes with isn’t huge so it will fit just about anywhere. The rubber grip is very nice. I never drop it even if it’s wet. It even looks cool too. You can also purchase some attatchments that are sold separately that will work with it. They allow you to get more precise with your shave. Down to thickness, precise lines, and more. There isn’t a whole lot else to say. I don’t see anything wrong with it except maybe it could’ve came with a few extra attatchments but that’s not a big issue. I am typically a disposable razor user but occasionally utilize electric shavers. I first tried this shaver out on a three-day-old beard and I typically shave off most of my facial hair. I would compare the closeness of this electric shaver to that of a what a typical razor can achieve while not shaving against the grain. This shaver is water-proof and I was able to use it in the shower. It has comfortable rubbers grips on the side for easy handling. Normally, electric shavers do cause irritation on my face because I used them infrequently, but this shaver did not result in that irritation. It did seem to take many passes to remove all my beard, more so than I was used to with electric shavers. This shaver’s battery seems to last longer than some of the other ones I have tried and doesn’t take long to charge. I am usually able to get enough use out of it to complete a shave after only 5 or so minutes. This shaver was also very simple to clean and all that is required is to pop the head off the shaver and rinse it in water. This shaver has interchangeable head options for precision trimming, thought I would’ve preferred for it to have a flip-up precision trimmer built into the back. All-in-all I would recommend this shaver. I'll start by saying a lot of the reviews I've seen here have been discussing the fact that instructions aren't included and comments about the fact there is no heater/dryer in the base. First off there is literally only 1 button on the shaver and 1 button on the base (outside of the base ejection button for swapping the cleaning juice). If you struggle with this shaver then there are likely bigger problems in your life. This is very simple shaver that seriously needs no instructions. As for the base always launching the cleaning cycle when you only want to charge the shaver… the shaver battery lasts over an hour. My shaves take approximately 5 minutes. That means I could shave, without the need for charging, or cleaning the shaver 12 times. If after 12 shaves you still don't want to clean the shaver then I don't know what to tell you other than you might want to consider evaluating your hygiene habits. Also, the cleaning solution/juice if not used will evaporate, so you might as well use it. I run the cycle after about 3-4 shaves and the next day it's dry and ready to go. Now for the real review… I previously owned a 5 series Braun many years back and more recently owned a 9 series Braun about 3 years ago. I also have owned/tried Remington, Philips, Manscape, and Wahl shavers in the last 3 years so I have a lot of experience and by far this is better than every shaver I have tried, including the 9 series and I'll explain why. First off, my 9 series broke about 3 years ago only 4 months after purchasing it. The trimmer failed to run; the rest of the shaver still functioned. Anyway, I dealt with the customer service and found it lacking. I mailed the shaver off and after calls asking the status, they told me to be patient. 2 months later I moved, lost my USPS tracking receipt, and finally the Braun customer service acknowledged they didn't have the shaver and asking for shipping confirmation. I no longer had the receipt so I couldn't prove I mailed it. $300 down the drain. So, for the next few years I avoided Braun products. I tried many others and finally gave up and settled with disposable shavers. I seen this sale after all this time and decided to try this shaver/Braun again. The motor on this shaver is louder and more powerful than the 9 series I remember. The attachments are easy to swap and use. I found the lack of an in-built trimmer a little frustrating as it takes a bit of time to swap heads. A small sacrifice as the trimmer itself is leaps and bounds stronger than the 9 series in-built shaver and far easier and more precise to use. Now onto a more sensitive topic, trimming of more delicate parts of the body. My god, this shaver has blown me away and establishes its true value here. The included beard/stubble trimmer attachment, normally meant for beards, has been a godsend for that area and blows Manscape products out the water. Honestly Manscape products are far overrated, and I found before this shaver, a Wahl cordless shaver with the correct guide to be much better. The Stubble and Beard trimmer was better than every product I've ever tried, and I can easily say with confidence that there is absolutely nothing better. This was the first shave I ever had that didn't tear me to shreds and cause excessive bleeding there. The shave is also faster as the newfound confidence allows me to shave without worry of nicks. While I will say it did nick once, the nick was barely noticeable or felt and didn't bleed. A serious gamechanger. The included guides that were notches of 1, 2, or 3 were additions nice but a close trim is possible without worry with guide 1. Seriously, this attachment should be marketed completely differently as it's outstanding. I'm speaking again of the Beard and Stubble Trimmer with 2 notch 1 guides, not the Precision Trimmer attachment as I would be far too scared to use that attachment down there. Also, while the Beard and Stubble trimmer is attached you can still run the cleaning cycle when the shaver is inserted into the base! Honestly that was an amazing discovery as the ability of having that attachment cleaned by the base, especially after shaving in that area, was a huge win for hygiene. On to the real purpose of this shaver, your face… It does a great and thorough job but requires many passes. This shaver shines in giving this quality shave without pulling or nicks. It rivals disposable shaver shaves without the irritation. The requirement of some extra passes is worth it. The 9 series did provide a faster shave as it required fewer passes of the same area, but it did not provide a better shave. The difference being the 9 series is almost 2 – 2.5x as expensive and has a far worse trimmer, no beard and stubble trimmer which again shines where you would least expect it to and had suspect reliability. I recently bought this machine and this is the first machine I've had with an associated charging/cleaning station. I have previously used Braun shavers for years, but these were not cleaned in this way. Then I wonder about this: The machine was delivered with 1 pc. Braun Clean & Renew, and according to the manual, the machine must be cleaned after each use. Then the contents of the cleaning station will last for approx. 30 days. If I don't clean every day the contents will evaporate within 8 weeks. This kind of fabric is very expensive to buy new, and I wonder if this type of cleaning is necessary. Online, it is also possible to buy a type of powder which, however, must be mixed with some type of ethanol. Then the price will be a fraction of the price for new containers. However, I have managed without such cleaning since I started with Braun shavers 50 years ago. However, according to the manual, I do not need to clean the machine in this way, but only rinse it clean under running water. What do I risk by maintaining the machine without using the cleaning station. Will it then have a limited lifespan? Will the machine have a longer life if I use a cleaning spray and shower my head after each cleaning under water?Ivar

I have used Braun electric shavers daily for the last 25 years and Remingtons before that. My Braun Series 7 sideburn trimmer broke this past week when I replaced the head so I was able to compare the two head to head. Braun 7 with a new foil head versus Series 9 Pro. The 9 Pro was a major improvement to the already fine Series 7 with a new head. I was amazed at the major difference of closeness of the shave and how efficient it was in requiring fewer passes to get a close shave. The shave with the Series 9 Pro was every bit as close as shaving with my Merzur safety razor. The new head design design on the Series 9 is clearly better plus there is a new feature that works really well. The head can be locked in a fixed position or used in in a pivoting position. The instructions recommend the fixed head position for your neck and cheeks. While the pivoting head works well under your nose and on your chin. The pop up sideburn trimmer has been relocated to the rear of the shaver which is a much better location than on the front of the shaver. The new charging case is wonderful for traveling on extended trips. I am amazed at the dramatic improvement of the Braun Series 9 Pro over my previous Braun Series 7. The shaver is a beautiful example of high quality German Design, German Engineering, and German manufacturing. Yes it is made in Germany which I much prefer over Chinese mediocre manufacturing. I bought the Series 9 Pro 9465 though I was skeptical. I have always used a Phillips Norelco triple headed rotary shaver because I believed that it was the only thing short of a blade that could give me a clean shave with all the crazy directions my beard grows. The quality of the blades on my Norelco shavers have degraded badly over the years and I find myself grinding the razor against my face for 10 minutes trying to get a reasonable shave and having razor burn afterward. I also don't shave every day anymore and every day past day 1 I go, the worse the shaving experience got. This shaver is amazing! If I shave every day it takes me about 90 second to get a MUCH closer shave than my old shaver, and I even 3 days to test it out and after 3 days the save was just as close and only required a little more effort. I never believed a foil shave could work for me but I'm convinced now. The skin on my face is much happier, and I am too. Quick assessment: Hefty feel that provides a very close shave, but does take longer to cut every hair with more noise and vibration than other electric shavers. Pros: Extremely high quality and hefty feel. The razor feels “premium” and I doubt it will break or have any quality issues for a long time. I love the attention that was put into the quality. This razor also shaves closer than any other electric razor I’ve tried before. If you are focused on the end result of super smooth skin post shaving, this is a great razor. The shaving head pivots to meet the contour of your face, and glides easily. I did not experience any roughness, scratchiness or other concerns – the razor heads glide smooth without irritation. Cons: Noise and vibration. As this design is a “side-to-side” trimmer, there is a lot more noise and vibration in the trimmer action than I am used to. It is not a defect, just something to be aware. It wasn’t a problem for me most weekends, but during the weekdays it did wake up my wife as I was getting ready for work. Also, while the razor is Li-Ion and can be used cordlessly most of the time, I found it unfortunate that razor does not work WHILE PLUGGED IN as well. I would be worried about forgetting to charge it and then being stuck unable to shave in the morning while waiting for enough charge to get going. I took my dad to a really nice upscale barber, and everyone one of them had this kind of razor. They used it on my dad and he did not get bumps or ingrowns like he normally does when he shaves. This is my third Braun shaver of this type. I have been using this single foil razor for about nine or ten years. Its inexpensive and shaves my face well. I prefer it to other Braun and Remington razors, all of which cost more and have mutiple shaving heads and cutters. I have to purchase a new one every few years as parts wear out. My first unit had the foil finally breakdown, or tear. A foil and cutter costs almost as much as the new razor. So, I bought a new one. That second unit had the side trimmer weae out, it would not trim sideburns and so forth. So I bought this new one now. Works great! Hello, I bought this shave for my elderly father. It was on clearance with a favorable price. It is ergonomically designed and has a lengthy run time per charge. It's a single cutting head and shaves close, but takes forever to complete a shave. Multiple passes required with many missed hairs. The large single cutting head does work well on facial curves. The trimmer is worthless. The blades protrude straight out vs. a 90 degree cut on most others. This is more a nose hair/ear trimmer than a mustache style trimmer. From my 30-day experience, I would not buy this again, nor can I recommend it to you. Note: The box says it has a 45 day money back guarantee, so you can try it risk free. I've owned a Phillips 3D 1250X electric shaver for over two years. Phillips stopped making and stopped supporting them. So I decided to look around. Before using electric shavers. I started out with double edge razors, then the molded throw away's which became way too expensive and just didn't last for the price. I'm 61 years old, I've been shaving awhile. Most of my life I hated electrics. But almost three years ago tried the Phillips and it did a good job, but still left tiny stumble that I could feel but I looked shaved. I bought this Braun and tried it 4 hours after shaving with the Phillips. The shave with the Braun was darn near blade cut close! It found stubble the the Phillips missed and the was virtually zero stubble no matter which way I pulled my fingers around my face! With just a light touch the Braun does a fantastic job and I wholeheartedly recommended this shaver! I cannot speak to longevity. They recommend a new blade every 18 months which I feel is reasonable. When I was introduced to shaving, I tried my Dad's Sunbeam, Remington foil and a DE analog. I ended up doing the DE and got tired of nicks and cuts and skin irritation. in 1972, I started an almost 50 year relationship with Norelco "rotary" products. I went as high as $200+ in that line and it seems they have plateaued as far as technology advances are concerned. I was fed up with the poor quality of replacement blades available today, so I began a search for a replacement shaver. After reading numerous reviews, mostly pro, I decided to give the Arc5 a shot. All I can say is if you find yourself in my spot, do not hesitate. Get this shaver with the cleaning/charging unit, STAT! PROS: The closest shave I've gotten, next to a razor, EVER. Did NOT irritate my skin (I have sensitive skin) Larger head > shorter shave time Flex head follows your facial contours (jaw line, neck, etc.) Beard "sensor" adjusts to your beard's current length. Trimmer does a good job. Shaver has a "built-in" cleaning function, which you can use if you're travelling, or in between "tank" cleanings. Head size and shaving method delivers a faster shave. The cleaning/charging base has a "Dry/charge" function. CONS: Price of replacement heads and cleaning solution concentrate. I got this in anticipation of my upcoming birthday (thank you, honey!) and read the manual. I HAD to check the unit out, so I put some pre-shave lotion on and charged the shaver. Some people complain about the size of the shaver. It really is comparable to the Norelco I was using, but the shape of the head is what speeds your shave along. (It covers more territory). Since there is usually a break-in time for new shaving methods, I expect my shaves to improve over the next week. I used primarily an up and down motion on my face, then I changed direction and orientation on my chin and neck. One complaint I avoided is on my upper lip I have a moustache, so I didn't have a problem with trying to get a close shave there. After finishing and evaluating the shave quality, I took the head off, and rinsed it and the shaver under the tap. Then, I wiped excess water off both and reassembled the unit and dropped it into the cleaning/charging base and put it on dry. I haven't used the cleaning function of the tank yet, but will update my review after I've done so. For things like shaving my ears, I have a companion Panasonic trimmer that I use for things no shaver can do. Summary: Get one! You have 30 days to decide whether you want to keep it.RubberToe

Like all electric razors it does not do well with long hair. the only draw back i have is the razor head is large. Which helps speed up the process doing my whole head but little difficult around the top of my ear to sideburn section. I still think its best razor I have ever used in 20 years though. The charging/cleaning station is so nice. Yea it can be a little loud on the cleaning portion but its the razor turning on and off so what's the difference when you use it? Travel case and option to still sharge it with just the cord is well thought out. Mean I dont have to lug the station with me when I go away for a week. But after 20 use Im still at 80 to 85 percent So i likely wouldnt need to charge it anyway.Abult

I was very hesitant to try an electric razor, considering my beard is full and thick and grows quickly. I had been using a DE razor and wet shaving for the last few years. I tired of the time and blood. I researched the closest cutting electric razor sand this one seemed to be among the best. Turns out that I like it even more than I had hoped. It shaves close and quickly. It allows me to shave daily or go 3 days and handles both situations with comfort. Been using for about a month and I will never go back to blades and cream and the hassle. If I'm careful and focused this razor is basically as close a blade. A solid shave takes under 4 minutes and I experience no issues at all even with somewhat sensitive skin. If you're considering an electric razor, I'd start right here. Another great rotary in Philips' lineup. This series does solve the issue of many complaints regarding the detachable trimmer and heads of other Philips shavers – it has the traditional flip-top head and pop-up trimmer. This adds to the bulk of the shaver, body and head, but precludes having to keep track of a separate trimmer and remove the head for cleaning, and it works reasonably well, although for me the trimmer isn't quite as effective as the SmartClick attachments for the Series 9000 shavers. The ComfortGlide Rings really are effective, and provide a frictionless shave, although in this model they are slightly larger than the Anti-Friction rings of the S7940 for example, and require some maneuvering to get around tight areas. The Quick Clean pods use the same cleaning solution as the SmartClean cartridges for the SmartClean stations, which is excellent for cleaning and lubricating the shaver. The Quick Clean Pod is unpowered however, and uses the shaver's power, reducing it by about 1 percent per cleaning, although on a positive note doesn't require cords or cables and is more compact – actually usable for travel. The GroomTribe app is the Achilles Heel of all these Bluetooth shavers, and in particular this model (S7782), because there's no information regarding this particular shaver – the app seems exclusively to recognize only the S7940 shaver. On the plus side, the S7782 will connect, and it does record the shaving time and the percentage of rotation (which improves shaving efficiency), although the motion sensor algorithm in the shaver appears not to recognize the correct rotational movement about half the time. The good news is you don't actually need the app, and this shaver has an LED screen that provides all the essential information about the shaver, including battery life, cleaning information and the previously mentioned inaccurate rotation statistics. The shaving heads (SH71/52) only have a single cutting ring, but actually are comfortable and provide a very close shave. Overall, an excellent rotary from Philips, that provides a close, comfortable shave, warts and all, with the potential to improve with software updates to the app. Recommended.S7782

This new Norelco shaver is a big change from my current one. Some things I really like about it and a couple not so much. Starting with the not so much is the fact that there's no charger for this shaver, it just comes with a cable with a USB end. My current Norelco has a nice charger base it sits upright in and plugs into the wall. The shave head on this is also considerably larger than my current one and takes some getting used to for trimming around tight spots on the face. Now for the good, this shaver requires very little effort for shaving stubble on my face and gets it all with only a couple passes. The way the shave head can contour around the face is cool and helps to get shaving done quicker. The shaver has a battery level indicator on the front which comes in handy, my current one only has a light that flashes when its time to charge it. Overall this is a nice replacement shaver other than not coming with a charger right out of the box.dmx10101

Probably the best rotary shaver ever made. This model is akin to the old-style Norelco shavers of the 90s into the 2000s. Only with a modern look and feel. For a while, since 2015 or so I think, most Philips Norelco models had heads with two rows of blades and were somewhat open on the outside. I feel this was a mistake as skin could get caught in the open spaces. This model however has the blades completely enclosed by the comb with one row of blades. Like the old ones used to be. And believe me, one row of blades is fine. I get a great shave from this model. Philips Norelco reached the apex of electric shaving technology years ago with lift-and-cut blades, and they just keep improving. But the previous style of blades was not best for me. Speaking of lift-and-cut, that was not a meaningless marketing slogan. If the hairs were long enough you could actually feel them being plucked, ouch. Fortunately gone are the days of nickel-cadmium batteries taking 8 hours to charge and dry shaving only. This is the new era of electric shaving. The blades are self sharpening and most if not all models are now wet / dry. This model feels sturdy and solid with good weight. Fits well in the hand. And the motor is strong but not too loud. And the blades cut through stubble like it's not even there. I've used many norelco models through the years. But there's something about this one. It cuts cleaner, easier and faster. And it just feels better on my face, and in my hand. I shave in the shower with Nivea Men Sensitive gel, because I'm a sensitive guy. And if I'm in a hurry I shave dry. It's nice to have the option of either. This is the best Norelco so far, and it's not even the really expensive model.Bond...James, Bond

I feel the Norelco 3100 would be more than adequate for the average male. I've owned several Norelco rechargeable shavers over the past 30 years. I think I'll like the Norelco 3100 best of all. It shaves pretty close and is relatively quiet. It sounds like it runs at a higher RPM than older models. Part of the front face is coated with a rubber like material which makes the shaver easier to grip than older all-plastic models. The popup trimmer does an adequate job of trimming sideburns. While a full charge required 8 hours, the instructions state that a 3-minute quick-charge provides enough power for one cordless shave, which can be convenient if the battery has been exhausted. Instructions recommend using the shaver exclusively for 21 days, for the closest shave. The shaving head can be cleaned using tap water and then left to dry thoroughly before using it again. I usually employ a bit of canned air to help a shaving head free of debris, however the instruction manual states NOT to use compressed air, just tap water. Extra-thorough cleaning is required from time to time. Cutters are matched to their combs through everyday usage, thus clean the three heads individually in order to avoid mixing up the cutter-comb pairs. When fully charged, you can probably expect at least 7 shaves before recharging is necessary. You will probably want to replace the cutters in about one year.Denver27

I've had my 3100 for at least five years, maybe six. It wasn't my first Norelco rotary shaver as I got my first one over thirty years ago. This isn't the most expensive Norelco I have owned – in fact, it's the most inexpensive. In all honesty, I have to say it's my favorite. I've gotten somewhat closer shaves from my very pricey 1250X, but seeing as how Norelco has discontinued the superb original blades for that model, it now cuts no better than my 3100. Well, actually the 3100 is a lot better. There are plenty of positives for this shaver, and no real drawbacks. Top of the list (for me) is that the 3100 is not limited to cordless use only. If you somehow didn't notice the LED warning you to charge after your last use, and find yourself with a too low battery, just plug it in and keep shaving! This is a massive advantage if you are one who often find mornings to be a rush-rush affair … like me. The heads on this shaver are now better than what is being supplied for high-end Norelco shavers. I am not kidding, as I own a very expensive Norelco which stays at home (my 3100 is my "road machine," and travels with me – which is every other week). The replacement heads for my high-end Norelco pull nose hair and sideburns constantly. The shave is certainly no better than that of my 3100. I would argue that the 3100 is now better (although my expensive 1250X was a little better when new). Clean up is a breeze with this shaver. The head assembly hinges open, allowing you to run even scalding hot water on the heads without burning your hand in the process. This is another advantage over the newer head-on-a-stick type Norelco shavers. Again, I own one of those and the 3100 is definitely easier to maintain. Price has to be considered. One could purchase a lifetime supply of these 3100's for the price of one high-end Norelco. Do those shave better? Maybe a little … but is it really worth the extra expense? Not in my book. Long life is a factor. My 3100 is at least five years old, maybe six. Frankly, I can't remember. In any event, it's shown no sign of slowing down; no degradation of battery performance. I still get over ten days of shaving between charges. No complaint. My very expensive 1250X does no better. If I found that Norelco was discontinuing this shaver, I would immediately order two … which would probably last me for the rest of my life. Were mine to fail tomorrow, I would consider that I had more than got my money's worth from it and head out to get another. Further, when my expensive Norelco 1250X fails, I will replace it with this model and be happy to do so.Cull43

My new Model 3100 shaves closer and misses fewer spots than the 7810XL did, and therefore shaves a bit closer. That was surprising to me, because the 3100 uses the same HQ8 replacement head kit that the 7810XL did. It doesn't irritate my face noticeably. (Neither did my 7810XL.) It's larger and more comfortable to hold than the 7810XL was, and runs quietly and smoothly. The 3100 offers the same, convenient rinse-to-clean feature that the 7810XL did, and it also offers a 5-minute quick-charge that provides just enough runtime to finish off a shave. If you have an electrical outlet nearby, though, most users will probably find it more convenient to just plug the shaver in and run it from the cord. The one feature that the 7810XL had that the 3100 lacks is the ability to fully charge in just about an hour; the 3100 requires about 8 hours for a full charge. However, since I can run the shaver for as long as I need by plugging it in, this hasn't been a problem for me. I can't really compare the performance if my new Philips/Norelco 3100 to micro-screen models, because it's been years since I had a micro-screen shaver. My last one was a Remington model that was decidedly rougher on my skin than my last two shavers, although it did shaver closer than my old 7810XL.AmarP
