Best Electric Razors For Sensitive Skin (2024 Update)

This Panasonic ARC Shaver is doing a great job on my beard. This is the first Panasonic brand shaver I have used. I had previously wondered what these shavers were like and now that I have tried it, I like it a lot. I like the design. It is lightweight and has a good design for gripping it as you shave. The foils have a slight arch to them, which I have found makes it much easier to maintain contact and improve my ability to get a good shave in areas around my neck and chin, as it hugs the contours better in those areas than previous shavers I have used. They call the foils ultra thin. It is definitely giving me a very close shave. I have found my shaving time is reduced, as I used to have to go over my skin many more times with other shavers, to get as close of a shave as I am getting with fewer passes with this Panasonic. There is a pop up trimmer which I have used to straighten up my side burns and that works quite well. There are also two adjustable attachments you can use to trim a beard or stubble to any of 6 lengths that you select. This shaver can be used wet or dry, for those who prefer to shave in the shower. I prefer to use it in dry mode. The rechargeable battery gives you 50 minutes per charge. I like the fact it is a lithium ion battery, so you can plug it in as much as you want without getting a memory on the battery or worrying about over charging it. The battery fully charges in about an hour, but also lets you do a quick 3 minute charge for a single shave if you forgot to charge it. The shaver also has a travel lock. This will be nice, as I have had previous shavers turn on in my luggage and be drained by the time I unpack. With the travel lock, I can charge it before I leave town for a few days and not have to bring the charge cord along. It also has an LED display that shows you the battery life, a charge indicator, a shaving sensor and the travel lock. Finally, it is easy to clean, as you just use a little hand soap and turn on what is called the sonic vibration cleaning mode and then rinse with water. My skin is super delicate and is easily irritated when I shave. When I moved from disposable to electric my first venture was with rotary shaver. Rotary shaved real close to skin but my skin always got irritated with red rash and ingrown hairs. So I switched to foil and never looked back. This razer motor is much more stronger than my previous foil shaver but much more louder. So the trade off here is a better shave vs. a louder shave. The individual hairs on my face are very thick and I felt this shaver cut through the hairs like butter. I am left handed and like most shavers did not have a problem using this one. I would say if you buy this one just make sure to buy a razer pouch for storage. My previous shaver came with a stand and accessory compartments. Great for quick dry shaving for legs and arms you will not end up with nicks or stubble. This is a great dry shaver, if the hair is longer you want to use the trimmer first and make sure the hair is short to prevent the nicks. I have used it for a couple weeks now mainly using to shave my legs. Compared to my old electric razor this thing is great. It's a nice hefty weight that seems consistent with the quality I would expect for the price point. This razor holds a charge way longer than any electric razor I've ever owned. And the visible "charge remaining" gauge is an awesome bonus! Versatile options of using either the rocking "soft" head that moves fluidly with the curve of your leg, or a static head position for more control. The Dry/Wet feature – I usually avoid wet shaving with an electric razor because my hair is usually too soft and doesn't cut well. This razor works for me wet, almost as well as dry! Super easy to clean, just rinse under water. It would be great if they make the shape of the razor more versatile to shave other areas of the the body besides the face. Make it more ergonomic and make the head and handle a little versatile. Even with this slight inconvenience, this razor is WAY better than anything out there for women and does the job like a champ. Pros – Excellent razor. Closest shave I have ever had. Fast and easy shave due to excellent blades. Cons – Requires a bit of maintenance. You need to run the “cleaning program” every day (personally I do it every other day). Some water and a cleaning solution shoots up into the case and cleans the razor once activated (1 pack of solution is provided for one month – available on Amazon sold as a pack for a reasonable price). This seemed like a bit of a pain at first, especially changing the solution every month, but the razor looks brand new and is working like it was just out of box many months later, so I think it’s worth it. Note – the first ten minutes of the cleaning process are VERY NOISY. The last 60 or so of the drying process aren’t too bad. Don’t expect to clean this razor before you head off to work if your partner is within 25 yards. It’s like waking up to someone vacuuming your pillow.Kayak4

The Panasonic Arc 5 Wet/Dry Electric Shaver with Self-cleaning recharger is outstanding. I've used safety razors for years and decided to try and electric. The Panasonic was the best choice!! If you've been using blades it takes around a month for your face to adapt to an electric but after that time using the electric is great!! Especially with the Self-cleaning recharger. It keeps your razor clean and charged so you always get a great shave. Be sure you read all the instructions so you can get the most from your razor.Steve

I have been using this shaver for 2 years now primarily for bald head shaving. I have also found it very useful for neck shaving since I have a heard. The pop up trimmer is very sharp and precise. I use the pop up trimmer just above my top lip to straighten out my beard. This pop up trimmer is my go-to for precise trimmer when I need it as it is sharper than my other beard trimmers. This trimmer is very powerful, long battery life and my favourite part is the cleaning station. All you have to do after a shave is use a brush to remove the hair from the cutting blades, then drop it in the cleaning station and walk away… Excellent. I had a problem with the cleaning station and I was near the 2 year exchange warranty. I highly recommend contacting panasonic directly for this. I contacted best buy and they maintained it's only a 1 year warranty. It is NOT, it's definitely a 2 year warranty. They just shipped me a brand new replacement unit. Awesome!!Anonymous

This is an elegant, well-made electric shaver that looks good out of the box. For features, this is a wet/dry shaver, so it can be used at the sink or in the shower. There is a locking mechanism that allows the user to lock or release (pivot) the trimmer head. It has a separate pop-up trimmer on the back side and a single power button on the front side. It also has LEDs to show battery level. On the plus side, it has an ergonomic design that fits well in the hand moves nicely along the face and neck. It also holds a charge for long time (I haven't had to re-charge in weeks) and the LEDs are an appreciated feature to see the current battery level. The final shave is close to the skin and I'm very pleased that there is no uncomfortable razor burn, which tends to happen with new devices. On the other hand, as with most electric razors I've tried, this one does a decent job with short hairs, but struggles with, say, a week old beard. I've used similar devices that have a powerful trimmer attachment to take down the long hairs before finishing with the close shave. The pop-up trimmer on this shaver is a bit flimsy for that job. Additionally, both the shaver and trimmer operate at all times. I'd like to see a larger, more powerful trimmer with perhaps its own power. I'm disappointed that the foil has to be replaced every 18 months or so; and at TWENTY-FOUR DOLLARS for a replacement. BUT, my new foil has deteriorated in HALF this time (and I think sooner). My schick shaver lasted fifty-five YEARS –no kidding. And I never replaced the screen in all that time. True, it did start to deteriorate after about 50 years, so I covered that small end section with scotch tape and continued to use it –until it finally died –of "old age". I have a beard and mustache, so only shave about 3/4 ths of my neck. Some of my cheeks and between my mouth and lips, so I don't ask a great deal of a shaver. Also, probably less than average as far as beard toughness is concerned. Guess I'll have to go to another brand, hopefully with a more resilient foil.Bruce

Braun has done a great job on every conceptual aspect of the electric shaver, including: packaging, instructions, guarantee/warranty, features, and design. The box itself is impressive, highlighting all key features and design, as well as stating there is a 60 day money back guarantee and a 2-year world-wide warranty. The instructions are simple and straight-forward; YES, you should read the instructions! The stated “50 minutes cordless shaving” is true; after a full initial charge the shaver has worked well for more than 1 week with no recharging. Although the shaver weighs slightly more than I would have thought, the shape and grip is indeed ergonomic; which is a good thing, since you need to reposition the shaver in your hand to hit all areas of your face and neck. I used the shaver dry, and it gave me a close, smooth shave over most of my face, but there were a few “stray” whiskers that needed more attention. Similarly, whiskers around my chin dimple, lips, under the nose, and lower neck required special attention. The shaver and pop-up trimmer are easy to clean with the brush that was provided. I have used a regular blade razor with shave cream for more than 40 years, and although that shave is better than an electric shaver, in my opinion, I will continue to use the Braun shaver on a part-time basis. When I received the product I briefly used it to shave my face. The product seemed to do a very good job of coverage as well as precisely removing the fine hair. It was a lot better than my current product. The price of the product is well worth it, considering it only takes one hour to charge. I looked at other products of this caliber and most of them took a lot longer to charge. The fact that you use a USB plug to charge the product also means it uses less electricity. I have used Braun electric shavers daily for the last 25 years and Remingtons before that. My Braun Series 7 sideburn trimmer broke this past week when I replaced the head so I was able to compare the two head to head. Braun 7 with a new foil head versus Series 9 Pro. The 9 Pro was a major improvement to the already fine Series 7 with a new head. I was amazed at the major difference of closeness of the shave and how efficient it was in requiring fewer passes to get a close shave. The shave with the Series 9 Pro was every bit as close as shaving with my Merzur safety razor. The new head design design on the Series 9 is clearly better plus there is a new feature that works really well. The head can be locked in a fixed position or used in in a pivoting position. The instructions recommend the fixed head position for your neck and cheeks. While the pivoting head works well under your nose and on your chin. The pop up sideburn trimmer has been relocated to the rear of the shaver which is a much better location than on the front of the shaver. The new charging case is wonderful for traveling on extended trips. I am amazed at the dramatic improvement of the Braun Series 9 Pro over my previous Braun Series 7. The shaver is a beautiful example of high quality German Design, German Engineering, and German manufacturing. Yes it is made in Germany which I much prefer over Chinese mediocre manufacturing. I bought the Series 9 Pro 9465 though I was skeptical. I have always used a Phillips Norelco triple headed rotary shaver because I believed that it was the only thing short of a blade that could give me a clean shave with all the crazy directions my beard grows. The quality of the blades on my Norelco shavers have degraded badly over the years and I find myself grinding the razor against my face for 10 minutes trying to get a reasonable shave and having razor burn afterward. I also don't shave every day anymore and every day past day 1 I go, the worse the shaving experience got. This shaver is amazing! If I shave every day it takes me about 90 second to get a MUCH closer shave than my old shaver, and I even 3 days to test it out and after 3 days the save was just as close and only required a little more effort. I never believed a foil shave could work for me but I'm convinced now. The skin on my face is much happier, and I am too. Pros: Really close shave with minimal effort Very quick to get to that close shave Nice design and fits well in my hand Impressive cleaning/charging station (yet to really test it out) Cons: Its not loud but the sound is high pitched compared to my old shaver and a little uncomfortable VERY pricey, I hope its wicked durable like my Norelcos which each lasted over a decade with just blade replacements Not sure I would spend the extra $100 on the base station if I had the chance to buy it againScoR

This razor also shaves closer than any other electric razor I’ve tried before. If you are focused on the end result of super smooth skin post shaving, this is a great razor. The shaving head pivots to meet the contour of your face, and glides easily. I did not experience any roughness, scratchiness or other concerns – the razor heads glide smooth without irritation. Cons: Noise and vibration. As this design is a “side-to-side” trimmer, there is a lot more noise and vibration in the trimmer action than I am used to. It is not a defect, just something to be aware. It wasn’t a problem for me most weekends, but during the weekdays it did wake up my wife as I was getting ready for work. Also, while the razor is Li-Ion and can be used cordlessly most of the time, I found it unfortunate that razor does not work WHILE PLUGGED IN as well. If you shave your head then you need this item. It gives a razor blade cut without the added worry of cuts on your shiny dome. Your head literally looks polished when you are done so if your aren’t into that then this shaver is not for you. They said in the directions it may take some time getting your skin used to it. For me personally it never bothered my head at all in fact it made the bumps clear up. Also in the directions it says clean well during and after use. I do this religiously and so far I’m on my original blades. It did take once or twice to get comfortable using it because it’s kind of top heavy compared to an old two bladed razor but after a couple of uses I was an old hand. I have found it is best to use small circles and rinse it very 1/4 of your head. This is a tremendously awesome item. I bet this is what famous bald people use.Cynnamon S.

Purchased this hoping to find a quick and easy alternative to only shaving with a blade. Couldn’t wait to try it as soon as it was delivered. It far surpassed my expectations in closeness and comfort on every part of my head, UNTIL… I got to the base of my neck… The included Forte blade chewed my neck up in a way I didn’t know was possible with an electric razor. To the point that my shirt collars had blood on them for a few days. After my neck healed up I decided to give it another try in case I was using too much pressure the first time. Unfortunately I experienced the same results on my neck. I didn’t think I had sensitive skin. I shave my head against the grain with a blade a few times a week and never get razor burn. Decided to give this shaver one more try so I purchased the Baron blade for sensitive skin hoping this would solve the issue. Fortunately, it did and I now love the Platinum Pro. Zero pain or discomfort after using the Baron. If you are still on the fence about purchasing, don’t hesitate. Super close shave, very convenient and easy to use. If you think there might be even a slight chance you have sensitive skin though, get the Baron blade. Only reason I’m giving 4 stars is I wish you could choose which blades you wanted in the initial purchase. Other than that, I give the Platinum Pro with the Baron blade 5 stars! At first I thought this would be a gimmick type of purchase. But instead I was pleasantly surprised how nicely designed and effective this shaver really is. The blades cut with accuracy and are very smooth on my scalp. With small circular motions the hair just disappears. The shave is also much closer than I figured it would be which is a huge plus. The battery life is long and visible with the digital display on top. It's easy to rinse with the included rinse stand and just as easy to access the blade compartment for additional rinsing. The only set back is the cost of replacing the blades. That will cost as much as the shaver in a years time. So it is yet to be determined if I continue to purchase them long term. You MUST cut the hair down with trimmers first, unless you use this everyday. I kept borrowing my coworkers at the salon until I just bought it and Walmart has the best price for some reason. Beautiful and works great. A barber must.Danielle

Before anything else when purchasing this brand new, apply some clipper oil to the cutting edge prior to the first use! The factory coating was insufficient even for the first operation and led to a poor experience requiring many runs over the same areas for a clean shave. I use the tried and true Wahl clipper oil and found that *very lightly* oiling it along the whole of the cutting edge helped (Applied after over 2 hours of use) as per mentioned briefly in the manual. By doing so, it brought the level of how well it shaves to a degree vastly above that of where it was originally out of the box! What were originally many passes were in some areas brought down to a single pass shave. This also dramatically reduces how hot the foil became in operation even when firmly pressed against the skin to encourage contouring. Lightly dab oil along the cutting edge, put the foil back on, and operate it for upwards of 30 seconds while slowly rotating it back and forth and side to side. Oil will seep through the foil so be prepared to wipe it down. This will soak the interior with oil so wiping down the interior of the foil head is pointless. — To easily remove the foil top: Press in the release toggle button and rock it up from that side until it rotates over the cutting edge. (I think that replacing it by catching it on the side that the power toggle is on and rocking it back down in reverse may potentially elongate the life of this plastic point) — While I'm new to the world of single foil shavers, going against the grain in small moves such as if scrubbing a difficult pan helps a lot with how cleanly the shave can become. If the skin is loose or has a layer of fat underneath it, pulling it taunt dramatically helps improve how well it can operate.Kiri

I keep this gem in my car, and whenever I need a little cleaning up, like if Im on my way to an important meeting, or a date, or if I just need that little touch up. The only thing I would change, if anything, would be to have a rechargeable model, where I wouldnt need to have spare batteries on hand, or, perhaps, an available car charger that could give me a quick charge n go. I really like this shaver and close it cuts. I use the Norelco Oneblade if its the 3rd day or more and use this shaver after the Oneblade. I would have given this shaver 5 stars but getting blade replacements is ridiculous. You cant just buy the blade. It has to be a blade/foil combo that is way overpriced and now hard to find. For instance this very site doesn't even sell replacement blades for the shaver they sell. They used to.Slipknatic9

Bought this at a local General Dollar for $10. I was impressed with the performance and smooth close cut on the daily shave but not good with longer hair as with all foil shavers. Did not come with a charger but does come with a USB charging cable. Cheep quality but for $10 its a deal!Mike

I'm writing this as not just a review but also as a comparison, because at this price point there are really only two key brands and you need to consider both. I've been using the rough equivalent from the market leader in foil shavers for about 6 months and this Philip's 9000 series for around a month. Both come with semi-rigid travel cases rather than the useless soft pouches which offer little protection and they have similar battery life – which is excellent and in my case means a charge is only needed every 3 weeks or so. The Philips shaver is a little lighter but still feels very well made, there are nice silver bits here and there which make it look and feel like a premium product, more so than my other shaver. In addition it feels much nicer and easier to hold even with wet hands. This shaver is a lot quieter than my other, which in my case is a very good thing as I have to get up early for work before the rest of the house, it's a minor thing but if you've got young children you'll probably know what I'm on about. It is also much quicker to use as I find I'm not having to go over the same areas several times, pulling my skin this way and that to catch the missed hairs, the Philips shaver seems to get nearly everything on the first pass. The other bonus of this is that I find I'm suffering from virtually no skin irritation, which was something I occasionally suffered from around the neck. The main downside of the razor is the lack of a built in trimmer. You have to click off the shaver head and snap in the trimmer unit. It only takes a couple of seconds and I don't do it every day, but my other razor has this built in and so it's just a flick of a switch and away you go. The trimmer is excellent though. The wet performance of this shaver is also very good, but not something I use very often so I wouldn't feel confident in commenting on too much, other than to say again it's comparable to my other shaver. Cleaning is very quick and simple, just rinse under warm water and it's done. My other shaver uses the cartridge cleaning system which is a bit of pain as it's noisy, takes ages and isn't cheap. In summary, this is a quality shaver, which provides a close, comfortable shave with no skin irritation. It feels and looks like a premium product and I would not hesitate to recommend it.Paul27

It give close and smooth shave. I tried the expensive prestige, 6700 and 7500 series. This beat them all. But still not as good as my old SensoTouch 3D. The clip on trimmer is useless specially if you shave wet. Don't why Philips change proven successful design. Pop up trimmer and also pop up shaving head for cleaning. Drags on skin, does not shave closely and takes a long time to complete shave. It was a 2019 Christmas gift however it is so bad I have reverted to my PT920 which has a three year old blade (should have been replaced at 2 years), which shaves smoother, faster and closer. After shaving with this razor I can then shave again with my PT920 and get a closer shave. I have used Philips razors for over 40 years and have only replaced each one with an improved model, with one exception which was a HQ5890 where a plastic pivot in the head failed and the part was no longer available. I have not mentioned the fiddly side cutter arrangement! My recommendation is not to buy but to purchase any Philips razor with a HQ9 shaving head which is far superior. However I know understand that replacement HQ9 blades are no longer available – Why???LincolnshireDyke

I replaced my Remington razor that I had for 20+ years with this model. I have been loyal to Remington based upon performance and this razor did not disappoint. This exceeded my expectations and gives me a closer shave and as close as a blade. I highly recommend this razor.Dave

I bought this model online during the Black Friday sales in November 2021. It was to replace my older model Series 7 which has been a fantastic shaver. Please be aware that the newer generation Series 7 like this one uses a separate precision trimmer head that is not built into the shaver. The precision trimmer is not included in this particular retail kit. And you cannot buy it separately in Australia unless you opt to purchase an entire beard trimming and manscaping kit. I don't have a beard. And I'm not into manscaping. So this shaver is incredibly useless in its current state. Normally I would not have made this error of judgement because I would have purchased in-store after inspecting it. But in-store purchase wasn't possible during COVID-19 lockdown. Shaver Shop referred me to Braun, who referred me to their spare parts distributor who was actually very helpful, but it seems I've bought a dud. I can't rate the product because I've frankly only used it once.Philby

I'll start by saying a lot of the reviews I've seen here have been discussing the fact that instructions aren't included and comments about the fact there is no heater/dryer in the base. First off there is literally only 1 button on the shaver and 1 button on the base (outside of the base ejection button for swapping the cleaning juice). If you struggle with this shaver then there are likely bigger problems in your life. This is very simple shaver that seriously needs no instructions. As for the base always launching the cleaning cycle when you only want to charge the shaver… the shaver battery lasts over an hour. My shaves take approximately 5 minutes. That means I could shave, without the need for charging, or cleaning the shaver 12 times. If after 12 shaves you still don't want to clean the shaver then I don't know what to tell you other than you might want to consider evaluating your hygiene habits. Also, the cleaning solution/juice if not used will evaporate, so you might as well use it. I run the cycle after about 3-4 shaves and the next day it's dry and ready to go. Now for the real review… I previously owned a 5 series Braun many years back and more recently owned a 9 series Braun about 3 years ago. I also have owned/tried Remington, Philips, Manscape, and Wahl shavers in the last 3 years so I have a lot of experience and by far this is better than every shaver I have tried, including the 9 series and I'll explain why. First off, my 9 series broke about 3 years ago only 4 months after purchasing it. The trimmer failed to run; the rest of the shaver still functioned. Anyway, I dealt with the customer service and found it lacking. I mailed the shaver off and after calls asking the status, they told me to be patient. 2 months later I moved, lost my USPS tracking receipt, and finally the Braun customer service acknowledged they didn't have the shaver and asking for shipping confirmation. I no longer had the receipt so I couldn't prove I mailed it. $300 down the drain. So, for the next few years I avoided Braun products. I tried many others and finally gave up and settled with disposable shavers. I seen this sale after all this time and decided to try this shaver/Braun again. The motor on this shaver is louder and more powerful than the 9 series I remember. The attachments are easy to swap and use. I found the lack of an in-built trimmer a little frustrating as it takes a bit of time to swap heads. A small sacrifice as the trimmer itself is leaps and bounds stronger than the 9 series in-built shaver and far easier and more precise to use. Now onto a more sensitive topic, trimming of more delicate parts of the body. My god, this shaver has blown me away and establishes its true value here. The included beard/stubble trimmer attachment, normally meant for beards, has been a godsend for that area and blows Manscape products out the water. Honestly Manscape products are far overrated, and I found before this shaver, a Wahl cordless shaver with the correct guide to be much better. The Stubble and Beard trimmer was better than every product I've ever tried, and I can easily say with confidence that there is absolutely nothing better. This was the first shave I ever had that didn't tear me to shreds and cause excessive bleeding there. The shave is also faster as the newfound confidence allows me to shave without worry of nicks. While I will say it did nick once, the nick was barely noticeable or felt and didn't bleed. A serious gamechanger. The included guides that were notches of 1, 2, or 3 were additions nice but a close trim is possible without worry with guide 1. Seriously, this attachment should be marketed completely differently as it's outstanding. I'm speaking again of the Beard and Stubble Trimmer with 2 notch 1 guides, not the Precision Trimmer attachment as I would be far too scared to use that attachment down there. Also, while the Beard and Stubble trimmer is attached you can still run the cleaning cycle when the shaver is inserted into the base! Honestly that was an amazing discovery as the ability of having that attachment cleaned by the base, especially after shaving in that area, was a huge win for hygiene. On to the real purpose of this shaver, your face… It does a great and thorough job but requires many passes. This shaver shines in giving this quality shave without pulling or nicks. It rivals disposable shaver shaves without the irritation. The requirement of some extra passes is worth it. The 9 series did provide a faster shave as it required fewer passes of the same area, but it did not provide a better shave. The difference being the 9 series is almost 2 – 2.5x as expensive and has a far worse trimmer, no beard and stubble trimmer which again shines where you would least expect it to and had suspect reliability. I have given this product 4 stars as the customer service, if you ever need it, is lacking and I’ll likely always have a chip on my shoulder towards Braun for simply makingAlan

I recently bought this machine and this is the first machine I've had with an associated charging/cleaning station. I have previously used Braun shavers for years, but these were not cleaned in this way. Then I wonder about this: The machine was delivered with 1 pc. Braun Clean & Renew, and according to the manual, the machine must be cleaned after each use. Then the contents of the cleaning station will last for approx. 30 days. If I don't clean every day the contents will evaporate within 8 weeks. This kind of fabric is very expensive to buy new, and I wonder if this type of cleaning is necessary. Online, it is also possible to buy a type of powder which, however, must be mixed with some type of ethanol. Then the price will be a fraction of the price for new containers. However, I have managed without such cleaning since I started with Braun shavers 50 years ago. However, according to the manual, I do not need to clean the machine in this way, but only rinse it clean under running water. What do I risk by maintaining the machine without using the cleaning station. Will it then have a limited lifespan? Will the machine have a longer life if I use a cleaning spray and shower my head after each cleaning under water?Ivar

This is my second one blade so the fact that I ordered another one says it all! As someone with very sensitive, acne and in grown hair prone skin I was never able to shave using the traditional razor and shaving cream method. I have tried out many hand held razors from cheap to very expensive but none of them lasted more than a few months never mind an entire year. I saw the one blade at my local pharmacy and decided to try it as I’ve had decent success with norelco in the past. This was the shaver I’ve needed and wanted all my life! The flat head design ensures stability while shaving and also makes it incredibly easy to shape my beard, side burns etc. What I love the most about the one blade is that it shaves the skin pretty much as close as a regular razor without the “side effects” of a traditional razor. No longer do I suffer with acne, razor bumps or irritation after shaving. This new one blade greatly improves upon the first iteration in the design of the guides and charging stand. The first one had individual length guides that didn’t really stay on that well and no charging base. I love the design of this new model because the guide stays on even while trimming the jawline and the lcd screen shows how much charge is left. For how small this thing is it has always held a charge very well. I shave about every week-ish and a full charge lasts about a month depending on how much I shave. The disposable heads last a long time as well given I tidy-up the thicker hair of the torso and below the belt, using a separate blade of course. My first one blade has lasted me over 3 years and it would probably still work if I didn’t drop it so much. To sum up my review, if anyone has had the same issues as I have using a traditional razor than I implore you to give this a try! Your skin will thank you!JNYC

I have always struggled with shavers, I am fair haired and my beard grows slowly so I usually go clean shaven but recently I have tried some different lengths of beard. With this Oneblade Pro I can manage the length easily, the guard comes with an adjustable comb so you can set it between 0.5 and 10mm, the best bit about that is it adjusts so simply with a turn of the wheel, the numbers are nice and clear so it's easy to set where you want it and it also doesn't move while shaving so you get a good even shave. I have attached a couple of photos, when I heard I was getting this I let my beard grow out so it was pretty long and untamed, for the first try I basically took it all off with a combination of using the guard and then removing it for a smooth finish, you can see the difference and it was an effortless shave no fuss and a nice smooth face. Battery life wise it's great so far, charged up once, used every day for a week and it's still going strong, I am guessing it will need charging soon but I can't complain at all. It is comfortable in the hand and us really sinple to use, the rotating head makes shaving so easy and it follows the contours of your face very well. It.comes with an extra blade for body shaving which I haven't used yet but its good to have the option. It comes with a standard 2 pin shaving plug for the bathroom socket and the lead is long enough to not cause any issues. It's much better for me than having to use a beard trimmer if I want to have some decent stubble and have a separate razor for when I want to be clean shaved, this does both really well and I would recommend it to anyone.Mooseman34

I will start this review by saying that I've exclusively used electric razors basically since I discovered what they were after I started shaving. I've used many different types and qualities over the years to varying levels of success. Unfortunately, the Philips Norelco Oneblade Pro fails to live up to the hype. In concept, the idea is interesting and unique, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. To start, the blade touts itself as being able to handle all lengths of hair, and I had gone almost 2 weeks without a shave (which is uncommon for me) so I figured what better way to test it. I tend to shave my neck clean and leave a bit of a 2-3 day shadow on my face so that's what I aimed for. While it accomplished this task, it was much more difficult and took much longer than my traditional method. I started with clean saving using the Oneblade without the guard on it, and it does well enough, although since it only cuts along the top and bottom edges, I found covering large flat areas to be a bit of an interesting experience. Since it doesn't cut directly under the flat middle part of the blade, you have to be sure there is room to move the blade up and down around it without cutting hair you don't want cut. The angle of the blade on the base does not lend itself to this experience. Trying to angle it without flipping it over is nearly impossible, and flipping it over means the teeth of the blade are directly against your skin. Fortunately the rounded edges do save you from any terrible mishaps, but it still does not lend itself to a very easy shaving experience. Once I finished the clean shaven portion of my neck, I attached the comb and set it to '3' (which I imagine is something akin to 3mm of my old Philips Norelco comb. It does manage to keep a consistent 3mm cut throughout, but it's like taking a weed-eater to a full yard of 5ft weeds. Yes, it CAN do it, but it does not do it well. As the blades cut the hair, it would just pile up and jam into the top of the comb until the comb and blades so full of hair they could no longer reach my face, and instead required me to remove the comb, tap out the hair and brush off the blades. The other strange thing about this design is that with the comb installed, only one of the two cutting edges is in use, which means if you only ever use it with the comb installed, or mostly use it with the comb installed, you will dull one side of the blade much sooner than the other. The blade cannot be flipped over to allow you a fresh cutting edge on the side that you use less. One thing I will mentioned about this, is that it is more comfortable than any travel razor I've ever used. So for travel, I would choose it over most other options if you're not willing to pack a bigger or bulkier razor. Bottom line, It will accomplish what it set out to do, but unfortunately it does not do any of those things well. It's comfortable, if a little strange to use and does not nick or cut the skin even if you have to use it at strange angles. But for the same tasks there are better options.Beradon

I have used Braun shavers for many years. I have a thicker beard and they shave it well. However the low end Brauns have less powerful motors and don't do as well so I really like the Series 7. I like the cleaner but my 4 instead of 5 rating is because the cleaner really should have a blower for drying like they used to. Also the indicator light that tells you when it needs to be cleaned does not base it on the shavers condition. It is purely based on how many times you used it. If once, the shortest cleaning time is used. If twice, the middle time. If three or more uses since last cleaned it uses the longest time. I brush out the whiskers after each shave and only use the cleaner every 5-7 shaves which is more than adequate. I like the shave.Charlie

The Braun Series 7 isn't cheap and I've only had it for a couple of days. Having said that, this is so far the best electric shaver I've ever had. Much closer shave than my old Norelco. I also like the fact that it comes with a clean and charge base that has a tank of cleaner liquid that cleans and lubricates the shaver. So far, this thing delivers a shave that beats anything else I've ever had.charles

I have now owned 2 Braun Series 7 electric shavers, and can say without hesitation that I experience the closest and most comfortable shave thanks to these well-designed products. Starting with the 740s model and most recently the 790cc model, both shavers fit well in the hand, the shaving heads easily follow the curvature of my face, and both are easy to maintain. I typically shave every other day (I'm retired) and find this routine is perfect thanks to each shaver's capabilities. The only change I might recommend is a case which allows the owner to carry both the shaver and its power cord. That being said, the charge cycle easily provides me with week's worth of shaves; we're hardly ever gone for more than week, so charging is not a problem as long as we're fully charged upon departure. When I was introduced to shaving, I tried my Dad's Sunbeam, Remington foil and a DE analog. I ended up doing the DE and got tired of nicks and cuts and skin irritation. in 1972, I started an almost 50 year relationship with Norelco "rotary" products. I went as high as $200+ in that line and it seems they have plateaued as far as technology advances are concerned. I was fed up with the poor quality of replacement blades available today, so I began a search for a replacement shaver. After reading numerous reviews, mostly pro, I decided to give the Arc5 a shot. All I can say is if you find yourself in my spot, do not hesitate. Get this shaver with the cleaning/charging unit, STAT! PROS: The closest shave I've gotten, next to a razor, EVER. Did NOT irritate my skin (I have sensitive skin) Larger head > shorter shave time Flex head follows your facial contours (jaw line, neck, etc.) Beard "sensor" adjusts to your beard's current length. Trimmer does a good job. Shaver has a "built-in" cleaning function, which you can use if you're travelling, or in between "tank" cleanings. Head size and shaving method delivers a faster shave. The cleaning/charging base has a "Dry/charge" function. CONS: Price of replacement heads and cleaning solution concentrate. I got this in anticipation of my upcoming birthday (thank you, honey!) and read the manual. I HAD to check the unit out, so I put some pre-shave lotion on and charged the shaver. Some people complain about the size of the shaver. It really is comparable to the Norelco I was using, but the shape of the head is what speeds your shave along. (It covers more territory). Since there is usually a break-in time for new shaving methods, I expect my shaves to improve over the next week. I used primarily an up and down motion on my face, then I changed direction and orientation on my chin and neck. One complaint I avoided is on my upper lip I have a moustache, so I didn't have a problem with trying to get a close shave there. After finishing and evaluating the shave quality, I took the head off, and rinsed it and the shaver under the tap. Then, I wiped excess water off both and reassembled the unit and dropped it into the cleaning/charging base and put it on dry. I haven't used the cleaning function of the tank yet, but will update my review after I've done so. For things like shaving my ears, I have a companion Panasonic trimmer that I use for things no shaver can do. Summary: Get one! You have 30 days to decide whether you want to keep it.RubberToe

I read a lot of reviews before purchasing this razor. after a month using every other day I havent experienced any of the negatives I read about. I use it on my head and neck below my beard. I found if I use it every other day or 3rd day on my head it shaves easy and as smooth as a razor. Like all electric razors it does not do well with long hair. the only draw back i have is the razor head is large. Which helps speed up the process doing my whole head but little difficult around the top of my ear to sideburn section. I still think its best razor I have ever used in 20 years though. The charging/cleaning station is so nice. Yea it can be a little loud on the cleaning portion but its the razor turning on and off so what's the difference when you use it? Travel case and option to still sharge it with just the cord is well thought out. Mean I dont have to lug the station with me when I go away for a week. But after 20 use Im still at 80 to 85 percent So i likely wouldnt need to charge it anyway.Abult

I was very hesitant to try an electric razor, considering my beard is full and thick and grows quickly. I had been using a DE razor and wet shaving for the last few years. I tired of the time and blood. I researched the closest cutting electric razor sand this one seemed to be among the best. Turns out that I like it even more than I had hoped. It shaves close and quickly. It allows me to shave daily or go 3 days and handles both situations with comfort. Been using for about a month and I will never go back to blades and cream and the hassle. If I'm careful and focused this razor is basically as close a blade. A solid shave takes under 4 minutes and I experience no issues at all even with somewhat sensitive skin. If you're considering an electric razor, I'd start right here. The closeness, comfort, and convenience will truly change your mornings.Berg

I recently acquired this shaver and so far I must say I am pleasantly surprised by it's performance and what it can accomplish. For most of my adult life I have been wet shaving due to difficult, curly facial hair and sensitive skin, this shaver has certainly made this as a very good option if not a preference. The shaver is quick to use and doesn't irritate my skin. I like the shavers swiveling head which can angle itself to ensure all hairs are collected and cut with precision. The compact 40° swiveling head is great at getting into all those nooks and crannies, which with age I have more than a few. Braun's Sonic and AutoSense Technologies knows how to handle the curls to my beard after a few days growth. The 5-in-1 SmartCare Center is a joy to use charging and cleaning without a care! I have yet to fully test it's battery life, a Li-Ion battery that should last for 60 minutes, as the shaver is on charge most of the time, but will on some trips away later this year. I have no doubt that it will step up to the mark without an issues. Where this have come into it's own for me is the shaver is 100% waterproof. I now mostly use the shaver in the shower to aid shaving with softer bristles. This has been a great bonus. This is a shaver with all the bells and whistles but nothing that is unwarranted, highly recommended.DaveG

After 27months of the Braun series9 shaver it stopped working. Initially, it would put itself into a travel lock. This quickly escalated to the point where it would remain in a travel lock so the $600 plus shaver and cleaner were useless The replacement lasted only 15 months then the start button fell out so it can't be in the shower as the water can access the internal electrics. This unit also goes into travel lock on its own but with some mucking about I can still manage to shave at the moment but it is getting harder to force the shaver out of travel lock. Such a bad experience with a premium shaver. The after-sales service I would describe as quite poor. I had to complain about a premium product a lot to get a replacement shaver. The shaving performance is excellent being a little better than the top-of-the-line Panasonic. But I rated it low because of the ridiculously poor life of the product. The Panasonic shaver lasted many many years. Around 6 or 7 yearsgummy
